Christina is great. Easy to work with. Assignments are not difficult. She shows real care for her students. She made my upper division writing class worth taking.
Very helpful, funny, and cute teacher. Classes are just lectures and she puts all her notes online. Her notes are vague but she goes over them in more detail in class. GRADES ARE BASED ON ONLY 2 THINGS, the Midterm & Final, she gives a detailed review but be careful and don't slack off on the tests. I would highly recommend this teacher.
I'll make this simple. TAKE HER FOR ANY CLASS SHE OFFERS. It's an easy A because she's not sneaky and actually give a rats' backside about her students. She is a recent student herself and is actually a CSUSB PoliSci Alumnus. I'm taking her again in the Spring of 2008 for American Political Thought and Formulation of Public Policy.
very clear and helpful. her study guides are basically the test! i highly recommend her :) shes such a great professor! not boring at all!
Great professor. Interesting assignments. She is willing to help anyone who asks for it. A student just like us, she is working on her dissertation. I highly recommend her.
Villegas does her job and more as far as clearly explaining the material; what her expectations are; what will be on the exams (no trickery); grading fairly. No complaints, the only other thing she could do is give the answers to the tests... I definitely recommend her.
she's knowledgeable, and gives test answers but for some reason she loves to say the questions super fast and not repeat them. she also gives them the second class starts. so if you're even 30 seconds late you will miss them. she does not want people who miss class to do well and she states this regularly. smart teacher but has annoying tendencies.
she gives the test questions at the beginning but says them really fast.. i attended every class and payed attention and on the last 3 tests i got "D"s so i would never take her again
Great professor! Take her for your upper division writing class! Guarantee she's the best! Starts out with short, easy assignments to get you used to the type of writing you need to do for your research paper. Extremely helpful!
I thought class was easy. print ppt and study. only 2 exams! .......For people whot took ssci 306 w/ her, Does anyone know the number of total points available in her SSCI 306 class? thnks.
Definitely recommend her over Brian Janiskee. That guy was something else. She is a very nice teacher and does tell you a couple test questions at the VERY beginning of class. The only thing is the exams seem to be a lot more detailed than the lectures are. But all in all, if you go over your notes and read the assigned chapters, you'll be alright
Really cool. Really young. She really likes what she is teaching - that's evident. Always offers extra credit points for answering questions on current news. We had one extra credit opportunity, and she went over questions that would be on the test. Really do recommend her.
She is cool and pretty. She tells you most of the questions there will be on the tests. She is also a wonderful lecturer. U do NOT have to buy the books,if you go to class and pay attention you will do fine. Only 3 tests, drops the lowest, and one final so there are no essays to write. I recommend her to anyone thinking of taking her. Take Notes!
She was fun.
She was fun. Class debates were good even inspite of a certain student who was asked to leave.
I had her for the Expository Writing Capstone. She was extremely helpful and made an extra effort to help me with my writing. Her power-points were excellent and clear. Since it had been about five years since I last have had a writing class, I was surprised I received an A. Take her if your a transfer student, you wont regret it
Great teacher. Easy lecture class. Scored a 96 percent w/o even trying on her final :) And she is VERY cute
Do the extra credit and read the book. She gives you ten extra credit pts but it 0.25 for everyone u answer. u have to get 4 right to get a 1 pt. she give you all the answers to the midterm and final.
mandatory class attendance. don't need the book. she gives you ec questions which WILL be on the midterms and final. three midterms, lowest one dropped and one final. i thought it was super easy. print out notes night before and you'll do great.
She's really easy, she laughs at her own jokes and she gives you questions that are going to be on the test, thats if you go to class everyday really easy class she just talks too fast at times.
Very helpful and fun professor. I was worried about this class, but it turned out to be my easiest class and most enjoyable.
Very easy class as long as you go to class and take notes.
Overall the class is easy and fun but if you want to pass you should consider going to class because she gives extra credit and some test questions. You might also want to print out the notes and read because some of the extra credit comes from the reading.
She loves what she teaches but i hated it, boring class, she gives extra credit questions at beginning of class and that's about all I listened too. Book is not needed at all, I never even printed out the notes, just make sure you study what she tells you will be on the test! I got an 89 in the class, pretty easy
Great Professor. A lot of stuffs to be memorized but all Psci classes should. Attendence isnt mandatory but u do better attend the class to get some exam questions from prof. She will tell u lots of exam questions and most of'em will be on exam. Good luck.
Her class is not easy but not hard. She gives you almost all the answer to the test and she gives you extra credit in the class if you answer some of the question but if u answer one question it's .25 pts.
This teacher was good. I failed the class the first time i took it and passed with her. She's young, pretty close to college students age. Shes kinda funny but has corny moments which makes things even funnier. She gives out like 3 test questions each lecture so go to lectures. Over all study terms, and important figures and you'll do fine.
GO TO CLASS!!U'll A's it if u go. She gives u exactly what is going to be on the test during lecture. Stay throughout the whole thing! I learned that the hard way =.= Shes funny, she knows her stuff, and she'll make things as easy as possible so u'll get it. Just get the main book it'll help if ur having trouble understanding some of the stuff.
She makes the class quiet interesting. It's not mandatory to go to class everyday, but I suggest you do since she gives you some of the test questions during the class period. You don't need to buy the book either, but it does help every so often.
Even though I took her about 2 years ago, I highly recommend her! Class was a lot of fun, not necessarily easy but you'll learn and she's a great teacher!
Her class isn't too difficult, but it isn't a walk in the park either. She is very very boring, but if you can stay awake in class, you will learn. Pretty cute too
She's so helpful and funny! Makes the material so much easier she almost over explains for clarity.
Probably the easiest psci 203 teacher you can take. I hardly went to class & got an A-. I recommend going to class, though, because she gives answers to the test & EC. No hw, three midterms & a final. Lowest midterm gets dropped. Don't really need the books. Her notes are online & cover the material needed.
Dont have 2 attend class but she gives questions in the beginning of class which will be on the test. If u read before class, & answer the question correctly u get extra credit pts. Good idea 2 go 2 class...very nice teacher, I would reccomend her especially 4 this subject.
I loved her! Gives questions that will be on test randomly during class or at the beginning. Gives extra credit if you answer questions right in class. # midterms, final, and extra credit assignment. She is nice and funny and attractive ;-) Take her!!
Dr. Villegas is a cool, easy going professor. She is really helpful and will happily answer any and all questions. She expects you to write a good amount, but it the workload is not unreasonable. Overall an easy class and your writing will improve.
Great teacher, Really smart. you have to put in work to get a good grade in her class but you get a lot out of it. i really like the way she sets up her class. Allows you to learn a lot.
She's amazing. The class is simple you study her questions which you will have to go to class to get & her study guide and you're good to go! I didnt have the big book jst Democracy in CA and got A's on my tests:)
So boring! A little hard to understand sometimes, tests are a bit tricky since they are wordy, and lastly goes off topic way too much! If she stayed relevant with the material on the exam more people would pass.
Can't teach even if her life depended on it. Goes off topic a lot and never is clear about reading assignments . grades really hard on exams that are essay form you can get 95% of the answer and still mark you 10 pts off for missing something . Majority of her class got a 70% in the class. She also talks super fast. I don't recommend her.
she is very approachable and knowledgeable. i really liked her and the class as a whole.
If you pay attention and just listen, this class is a breeze. Her reviews cover everything on the test besides the questions she gives in the beginning of class so show up on time to get them!
Great professor. Lot of reading quizzes, but it helps learn the material. She talks pretty fast so be sure to pay attention during lecture. The tests weren't bad but she's a pretty tough grader for the term paper.
She has at least one reading question per week on average. Her tests are not difficult if you read the books and other reading materials, but you have to attend all classes to grasp the content. She is very friendly and will answer any question you have. She will give you the grade you earn, not the one you want.
Print out lecture slides and follow those during lecture. You are able to pay attention to what she is saying instead of trying to write everything down. Get to class of time so you can get the reading questions in the beginning of class, which are all on the tests. She will also point out what is important in the lectures.
Her tests are not easy and she confuses you. She drops one test score which could be more points if you happen to do good
Villegas teaches expository writing, a capstone. Therefore, expect lots of writing assignments. Research paper in lieu of final, which is complete with a timed 5 minute powerpoint presentation. Quizzes, but no midterm. She is a fair grader, but expects effort. She takes attendance. Class dismissed ahead of schedule without effecting quality.
Don't need the book, you can find all readings on internet and some she puts on blackboard Make sure you do the readings- You have reading questions in the beginning of class Midterm and Final are not hard if you did the readings and came to class overall, you can pass this class no problem- just do the reading and go to class
Honestly, you don't need the text. Simply show up, listen to the lecture, write down the test questions she gives you if you're early to class and study! History is my most difficult subject and I received As on my exams! If you struggle with anything history related, this is the class for you!
You don't need the text book, her lectures are very thorough. She offers extra credit from questions about the chapter reading when class starts. Come to class on time to get those questions written down many of them are on her tests.
Her lectures are really all you need, don't bother with the textbooks. Make sure to show up to the beginning of class to write down the information she gives before the lecture. Almost all relevant information is on her blackboard including study guides. No assignments, just listen to what she says and don't overthink test questions for an easy A.
Villegas is a great prof. Knows the subject matter & clearly loves teaching. You work for your grade, but you learn a lot. You'll really enjoy the class. From my point of view, we are in college to learn. If you're the type of guy who takes a class because it's easy, you can look forward to guys like me being your boss! Loved the class.
She is super helpful, a great teacher and very easy to understand and talk to. SHOW UP ON TIME!! She gives reading quizzes at the beginning of class that are worth points. Her tests are like the rest PSCI department, essay and short answer. She does give a study guide before the test which is VERY HELPFUL. Definitely will take again
Always ask questions and do the reading. She is always there to help you and she is very outgoing, my favorite professor. I hope she can teach other classes so I can take her again.
The most organized professor I have every had. The lectures are always helpful. Her style is simple and professional. She will not waste your time. Everything is interconnected and well thought out.
One of the best Professors at this school. Her lectures and classes are very well thought out and it shows. She breaks down tough subjects so they're cohesive and easy to follow. The reading she gives, which isn't a lot, is actually interesting and I continued to read it after the class was over. Highly recommend taking her, you won't regret it.
I like her teaching style because she keeps it simple, and on point. One helpful thing is to print the power-points and review for midterms and finals. There is little reading so the class is easy, and one term paper.
There are 3 midterms and a final, lowest midterm is dropped. Gives reading questions at the beginning of period for extra credit. It's purely tests and extra credit, no homework assignments. Assigns any extra credit during class, will not announce squat on blackboard, so you have to show up. I didn't do the EC and barely scraped by with an A.
She gives reading questions at the beginning of class that are very helpful for the midterms and final. She also makes sure we are prepared for the tests and this was key to preparing for the midterms and finals. I did not buy the book for this class and I passed just fine. Be prepared to study your best though.
History is my worst subject, but the professor makes it tolerable. She is clearly very passionate about the class, and she provides in-depth explanations about what she's going to cover. She gives you a study guide for the midterms and final, so it's not too difficult to study.
Really great history teacher & I actually learned a lot from her ! if you hate history she will actually make it fun for you to learn & shes really a sweet teacher if you need help with anything! Make sure you write down the questions in the beginning of the lecture & dont get on her nerves bc she wont give the questions anymore !
the professor was honestly pretty cool, she tried not to make the subject boring at times and her midterms were pretty straight forward. She gives you a study guide and she drops the lowest grade out of the 3 midterms you take.
Super easy class. Only thing I hate is that she will not round any grade for any reason. My final grade was a 179/200 (89.5%) and she wouldnt round! What you earn is what you earn!
Honestly an amazing teacher. She is so passionate about what she teaches (especially Alexander Hamilton). Definitely recommend going to lecture because everyday she asks questions from the reading which counts for an extra test point. She is great at explaining the material that will be covered on the exams and will hint at what you need to know.
This is by far one of the worst history professor's to take. She's has 3 midterms and 1 final for over 100 questions. If you don't show up to class, you will miss "in class only" questions that will help or hurt your grade depending on how good your notes are. She also goes way too fast and doesn't repeat anything unless you ask. Not recommended.
Really approachable and her lectures are all online so it really helps with studying, also she gives you a reading guide to help you know what to focus on.
Her Classical Political Thought class belongs in a different department. It felt more like a literature course and added little value to the major. She believes the material difficult; it isn't, students just don't engage. Fellow students who had actively engaged in other classes were completely silent in hers. Easy enough but took nothing away.
Professor Christina Villegas is truly cool and easy going. She has a heavy lecture but she lets you out early. She has easy power point slides that you can print out and make side notes of what is on the test. She also gives you reading questions that are extra credit points. There are also study review slides of what is going to be on the exams.
Literally super easy, just show up when you have to. The test are just like the study guide and also you can find the study guide on quizlet. Really easy going professor. Easy A
Villegas is one of my favorite PoliSci Professors. Her class was pretty easy. She explains everything and her lectures are great! She does require a bit of reading, but it's not too heavy. She likes to do reading questions, but as long as you get the general idea, you should be able to answer them easy. Her exams were based on the reading.
Posts all lectures and test reviews on Blackboard. No homework just tests on the lectures and reading.
She is wonderful professor. She truly has a passion for the subjects that she teaches. She is very easy to talk to and is always open to questions. Her lectures are perfect because they are easy to understand and she makes the class very enjoyable. You really do learn a lot, and can take a lot from her classes. Just make sure to always do the reads
Very hard class, her lectures are way different than her exams , she talks too fast and half the time she goes completely off topic , do not take this professor if you want to pass this requirement , this class is very hard
Talks too much & goes on a tangent too often. Your grade depends on 3 exams and a final. The lowest exam score is dropped, making the exam 50% of your grade. She doesn't give you back your exams, you have to go out of your way to know what you got wrong to study for the final. Don't show up to class, miss points on irrelevant questions on exam.
This class is unnecessarily extra. there is no assignments, and your grade only depends on 3 exams. And to top it off, you don't get your exams back, so you can't review what you got wrong. her lectures are bland and half the time, she speaks too fast to even understand her. Very disappointed because I should have received an A in this course.
Super helpful if you go to office hours, she tries to make dull topics more exciting, to get an A you have to do the readings and study hard but it is obtainable. Great professor, probably the best Poli Sci professor at this campus.
I was not excited to take Poly Science, but her enthusiasm about each topic helped me retain a lot of the information. She's not one of those boring, monotone professors. There are 3 exams and she drops your lowest grade. Attend class (or make a friend)and she gives answers to some of the questions. Good quizlets available for this course as well.
Each time I went to lecture it was great she was very informed and non-biased. I missed many lectures because I could not get up so early. But her tests are things you learn in high school government and not hard to understand. Grade is based on two midterms and one final and that's it.
She gives super good lectures and is super smart. She gives quizzes on the readings so make sure you read. Study guides for the tests are very helpful. There is 12 reading quizzes, attendance grade, midterm, final, and final paper. Easy class if you do the work and pay attention.
She was a pretty great professor. Drops the lowest test score. For her class I highly recommend the E-book because her study guides are vague, so searching for specific things on an E-book is going to save you hours of study guide prep time for her exams. TRUST ME on this. I found all of her study guide material just by searching the key words.
overall good professor. a lot of students don't do well because they skip class. everything she goes over in lectures are based off her study guides and her exams. theres 3 midterms, she drops the lowest and then a final, all multiple choice. offered a couple extra credit opportunities. listen & take notes then you should be fine
Literally the best Professor I have had in my life. I got to meet her during my orientation day and was easily impressed by her unbiased lectures by staying moderate especially in controversial topics. She gives reading questions that count for 1/4 of Extra Credit which adds up. Her lectures hit everything that will be on the test. Take her class!
This class is really easy! She provides all the information that is going to be on the exam the class before the exam and provides several opportunities for extra credit. She gives amazing lectures and is very accessible outside of class. 4 exams total (1 Final, 3 Exams) and she drops your lowest midterm score. Get the E-Textbook.
You'll learn a lot in this class, but it is a little difficult because all the readings aren't in modern English (1700 and up). You'll read the federalist papers and Lincoln's speeches and have to take 3 Exams and complete a final paper spanning from 3-5 pages. She gives amazing lectures and expects you to participate, so please read before class.
Literally the best class that I've ever taken! Weekly reading quizzes and she drops the 2 lowest scores, 2 exams, 1 Presentation about a Bill and a paper on that bill. She gives a good amount of reading and makes a relatively boring subject extremely interesting. I recommend you take this or any other of her classes she offers.
She gives weekly reading quizzes and there is a lot of reading, but it is manageable. There are two exams, a presentation on a President, and an essay on that president as well. She makes this class extremely fun and gives a lot of extra credit (Memorize the chronological order of the presidents bc she gives a 5 pt EC quiz on that!). Get the books!
She is the best professor I had in Cal State so far! Her grade book consists of exams, and the material is very easy. Just show up to class because her PowerPoints are very vague, and she gives more info in class. She is a sweetheart, both as a professor and a person.
Good professor! This is an easy course. It is asynchronous. No homework. There are 3 mid-terms and the final. Basically what I learned in Government my senior year of high school. The textbook is free for CSUSB students.
This class is super manageable, every week there are readings, optional study guides, and lectures that are posted on Thursdays. No meetings, there are two easy essays and three big tests which are open notes. If you want a good grade take this class!
Dr. Villegas class is simple: read the chapters given, answer the questions, and you'll pass. She only grades you with tests, but she will drop the lowest score. Again, just read the chapters and answer all the study guide questions and you should be good to go!
Dr. Villegas is AMAZING! Super easy to understand, very clear lectures. You won't be disappointed. I always thought America History sucked. But, Dr. Villegas changed my mind. You won't be disappointed.
Best PoliSci Professor in the school. This is the Hamilton class and if u liked the Documentary, I suggest u take it. Very interesting. Two exams and one term paper (5-7pages). Shes very passionate about what she teaches. Ive had her for multiple classes and i always looked forward to attending her lectures. Pls take at least one of her classes!
Very tough grader. The timing of assignments being due is too quick and it is an exhausting class to stay on top of. Even if you try to be perfect, its challenging to do well with her structure and grading scale. Wouldn't recommend.
This is the second time I take a class with Dr.Villegas and its my favorite PoliSci proffesor by far, the grading is pretty easy, just reading question each week, some voicethreads, and the papers are pretty easy, classes are not mandatory but are like extra credit plus the information she gaves during the classes is important
Easy course, course consist of VoiceThread and slides. She has 2 Mid-terms and 1 Final Exam. As long as you watch her VoiceThread and go over the slides you should do fine.
The professor was pretty easy but the tests were very long the final consisted of 100 questions! other than that she was okay and for HW you watched her lectures.
Online course Great Professor, easy class. Homework is just watching her lectures and taking notes because questions will be on exams. There is also a paper she assigns. Always sends out reminders about assignments and exams.
Nice lady, but tough grader. Her questions on tests are too short and vague to ever reach the minimum word requirement, but then you severely lose points for not reaching it. Readings are complicated and long. Attendance is taken every class for a grade.
Easy online class with no homework. Exams are long but doable if you watch lectures and review slides. unstuck ai was super helpful for practice tests.
2 midterms and 1 final. Textbook was posted on canvas along with supplemental material. VoiceThreads just to make sure we listened to the lectures (1 pt each). Posts a “study guide” each module which includes questions from the readings/lectures. Questions from tests are pulled from here. There are some written q's in tests. LOTS of reading.
PSCI3250 American Foreign Policy - I recommend taking Professor Villegas. Her course consists of VoiceThread lectures, quizzes (10 minutes each), and a final paper. Each of these components was easy and doable. Make sure to take good notes during her lecture. Overall, the course is a breeze.
