She is such a good and friendly professor. It's a challenge to get an A, but you just have to be serious when it comes to studying and staying on top of the material. The Powerpoint handouts, the lab activities, and her detailed lectures are important. Good listening can help you as well. Attendance and participation is a must. Simply the best :)

this professor is very nice, and approachable, but its hard to get an A in her class. i am an A student, and i got a B. her tests can sometimes be annoying because they are mostly short answer questions, and she wants you to answer the questions in great detail. she takes off points if you misspell a word, and if you dont write a lot of detail.

Her lectures and powerpoints are comprehensive and extremely helpful in grasping the material. Out of my 5 years of taking numerous science courses, I can easily say that Dr. Von der Ohe has been one of the best professors I have ever had. Knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely caring of her students there is no reason to receive a bad grade in her course unless you neglect to put the time and effort to understanding the material.

Her powerpoint lectures give you all the info you need. Come to class on time, pay attention and spend about 1-2 hours per week reviewing, an A/B is probable. Highly recommended.

Professor Von der Ohe is nice but it is VERY hard to get a A or B in her class. There is a ton of information that she puts on .ppt (I'm talking 1,000 of pages wasted printing out notes that you cant understand.) I ended up dropping the course, not clear at all. Her exams are very hard also.

THE BEST SCIENCE TEACHER AT SMC!! She gives you everything you need to get an A. There is no excuse not to do well. Tips: you don't need the book, study for the exams by revisiting her lectures, do the sample exams, take the lab seriously it will boost your grade, don't wait until a day or two before a test to start studying, you'll be overwhelmed.

If you can't deal with the difficulty of this class, you will never succeed at a 4-year university. She does everything she can to spoon-feed you the information, but in biology there is a lot to know. If you cannot learn from her, give up now because she bends over backward to help her students succeed.

The lab is due at the end of the class, and if you got just several mistakes, she will explain to you and still give you full points. This class was challenging but I loved it! Prof's enthusiastic and knowledgeable and she'll tell you on the first day everything you need to do to succeed: Study every day, come to class on time, work for the xtra credit, record lectures (I used pear notes), work on labs at home ahead of time. Good lectures, lots of material, like ppts and videos that help with studying and understanding the material. Helps if you ask but does the minimum. Tests way too hard, questions have grammatical errors, multiple choice with multiple correct answers, etc. Don't question a grade, she's on a power trip with the grading and never wrong.

This is a very tough class. Exams are too long and it's not enough time to complete the exam. Most of the questions are easy questions and 40% is multiple choice. Take advantage of the Extra credit. She will ask one question based on the subject that will be covered for the day or from previous lecture! Get good grades on the Lab! Good luck!

I found her to be a very fair Professor. There is a quiz every week on the previous and upcoming labs. Exams are about every 3 weeks. I learned so much in this class. However, I was very disciplined and study very hard to earn my A. If you want an A you can't expect to receive it without earning it. I love the subject so much that I am now an SI.

This is an intense course you need to dedicate a lot of time in order to pass. 6% extra credit, 3 exams 60% short answers, 40% multiple choice, labs are fun, but easy to lose points. 1 group presentation on a body system, class is not curved, 2 formal lab reports, Professor von is very approachable and her lectures are on youtube, I will miss her.

Scholars Program. 3 group reading analysis papers. 1 quiz a week about previous lab (with a few questions about future lab). 5 tests all from the her powerpoints. Extra credit bingo. Really great personality, respectable, and helpful. No final test, just a final group project. Book not necessary unless you really want to get into detail.
