Very helpful. Excellent teacher. She doesn't give you trick questions. All questions for exams are taught and gone over. Easy class if you attend lectures.

She's nice till its too late to drop the class. Class is a combo of monotone lecture and video.
This woman gave me A's on every paper I did the entire semester, but on the final (worth like 1/2 of the class grade) she decided to give me a C-. She comes off as nothing but nice, but there is a hidden agenda at work.
Very BORING teacher. Hated attending the class. I enjoyed the videos but when she lectured o boy nap time! she does seem nice but as days and weeks go by her 'Hidden agenda' does come out. I would suggest takin another teacher over her.
If you attend class regualarly this is a breeze. Class participation is worth more than your midterm. If you go to class and read some, final is not bad. Take home assignments are easy. Lectures are a bit boring, but she is very nice.
She really annoyed me as the semester went on. She treats her classes like kids, but the material is EASY!!!!!! Attendance and class participation will get you an A. Just be prepared for her boring lectures.
Very easy- though at times you can feel though as if you have been in class for 5 hours!! Be polite and kind, show up to class, half ass the work, and you got yourself an "A"
She really knows her stuff and it's exciting that she uses her own medical anthro research to explain class material that we're learning on culture, health and healing. we actually think hard when we're in this class .

She's very nice and very easy. listen in class, respond 2 her questions and you will get a A or @ least a B. her lectures are boring. take notes to keep from falling asleep. she tends to not answer questions directly. shell dance around the subject for a while and then get to the answeeasy A/B class
Now I'm going to major in anthropology, at first I wasn't sure, but she really convinced me.
one of the few teachers to make me really think about our world and our roles and responsibilities in it
awesome prof., she totally opened my eyes to the use of anthropology as it was shun behind the toilet before. And I would agree with the videos .... but the lectures were very engaging.
very easy prof. if you attend her class you will get an A. Her lectures are sometimes boring and she doesn't take role.
She is the most considerate and helpful professor I've met at this school. She is a fairly new professor and is still establishing her style of teaching. She is easy to talk to and cares about the student's welfare. She may be overly detailed-oriented at times. Another professor I will keep in touch after I graduate.
She is nice, but the majority of the class is boring lecture. Do the work and attempt to participate when you are there. And I can't stress this enough: she gets her test questions from the book's website. Make sure you take the practice test online; she virtually cuts and pastes the questions from the practice test.
Super nice teacher she's wayyy to sweet Her lectures are a bit boring but if you participate and go on the websites and do the quizzes you should be fine she's really flexible super nice
Easy A for sure. All of her test questions were from a website she gave the class. You don't need to read the book or go to class regularly, except that sometimes she has class assignments so don't ditch every class. I went to about half the classes, didn't read a page from the book, and still got an A.
Possibly one of the nicest teachers I've ever had. She is always helpful and makes sure to answer all questions. Tests are from the websites and class notes. No hidden points or grades. A straight up easy class. I got an A and didn't really read so have fun.
All her classes are amazing! She is there for you no matter what! She can help you out with anything and she understands what the students need! :-)
very nice and pleasant teacher. gave the students just about everything they needed to know from her lectures. clear and precise with her information, and always willing to help clarify if someone misunderstood anything.
Such a nice lady and she does her best to make the material interesting. You don't mind participating in class because she makes anyone feel smart. Knows her stuff. Too bad the stuff is boring as hell.
She is one of the nicest professors I've ever had in the four years I've attended csun..and probably one of the easiest as well
She is soo nice. She doesn't like lectures so for the most part, the class is apart of the conversation. When she does lecture however, it is BORING. The tests are really easy though. The students pretty much decide on how the final is to be laid out. There's a learning portfolio which everyone started the night before it was due & got full points
Very good teacher, very easy.
Very nice lady, class is easy, everything is basically from study guide
she's easy, she's nice, she's helpful. lectures are quite boring but the class is really easy. and she's really really really nice. i didn't do the class project and i didn't even show up to class most of the time but i still got an A.
Easy Easy Class, Lectures are boring but SUPER EASY grader and tests are almost identical to her Study guide.
good teacher. just the class material sucks. she has to teach what the liberal studies dept. wants her to. good easy teacher.
Very easy. Knowledgable. She's very nice and always open to help clarify things. She gives busy work, but it's easy to complete. Bases some points on attendance.
Very Very Helpful. She is very patient with her students and carefuly listens to what each of us have to say. Also, she always answers, to the best of her ability, every question we have. She dedicates a lot of her time to her teaching and to her students. I would like to take another class with her. She is a good professor.
Only tests are mid-terms and finals. There are movies with notes/etc required that are due on that same day only that also add up, but focus more on the workbook questions. Spend a lot of time on them, and you will get an A. i was able to learn all of the finals info in a week before the finals but was able to pull off an A-. I guess i deserved it.
Gateway is a useless class to begin with so I can't hold that against her. She tried to help and make the work easier. She graded pretty easy and attendance didn't really matter. Only downside is she isn't very organized. Everyone has to take LRS so I would recommend taking it with her!
very intelligent, compelling professor who actually makes you think. there was a LOT of reading for this class, but it is necessary to understand the course topic. she really makes you stretch your mind and is open to new ideas and thoughts. great professor, easy to talk to and very inspiring.
She is such a nice lady. She is understanding and cares about her students. The subject is extremely dry because it is on Theory but she tries to make it as interesting and easy as possible for her students,
The professor is extremely sweet and approachable. She is also helpful and understanding in everyway. The subject of the class wasn't that interesting, but it's mandatory for Liberal Studies major so I suggest taking it with her.
Okay, the actual class is stupid, but she made several adaptations for the idiocy. Was very flexible and easy going. We weren't quite sure about how we were doing throughout the class, but provided you did everything and participated, I think she gave fair grades.
She is the best professor you can have for the seminar class!! She is fair, and cares about her students. I was lucky to take the seminar with her!!
best teacher in the department. She is smart and interesting. Assighnments are not easy but she is so helpful.
Great listener!Great communicator! She pays attention to what everyone is really saying. She does her best to adapt to your needs. She is also skilled at improvising her OWN standards for your educational benefit. I not only recommend her as a professor, but also a model for other professors.Be prepared for introspective reflection on fundamentals.
Yes, she is nice. I did not, however, find her to be a competent professor. She often seemed distracted and she was very often late. She handed out "progress reports" that had pretty much word for word the same information for every student. (Not surprisingly, her final grading did not match the progress reports and didn't add up.)
Helpful, clear, intelligent, kind, understanding. Grades fairly. A bit quiet and shy. The 303 theory is boring but which theory isn't. 475 is very helpful, graduate/doctorate quality class.
She is very helpful and concerned with her students. She is frequently asking for discussion input from the class, so far my favorite prof at CSUN
I didn't know what to expect this class would be like. She made me LOVE the class. She really cares about your feelings and thoughts on the and she's very understanding towards her students. I wish more professors were like her!
Both classes have been interesting in their own way. She makes an effort to know all of her students personally and notices when you miss her class or are falling behind. Great teacher. Lots of essays that she strictly grades, but there are no tests. The amount of work for each class is reasonable.
She's very sweet and is willing to help you with anything related to the testsPaper. Yes there is only one paper but its toward the end of the semester and its 2500 words but you can pick the topic. Midterm and Final and participation points are easy as writing notes on films we watch or discussion. Definitely easy to pass )
She's an amazing teacher. I really loved having her.
Boring lectures, but she is a very good professor who does anything inorder for her students to pass. Gives study guides, 3 exams, 1 term paper, extra credit for participation (video notes)
CVM is a fantastic professor. I was dreading a theories course, but she made it very tolerable. She is very flexible and very sympathetic towards students and their work loads. The course relies on readings which seem overwhelming at first, but become very manageable as the course progresses. I am a much better anthro student because her
I would definitely take her again. She's a very nice professor and the class was very interesting (ANTH 310) to me. Great feedback, easy grader and she's crystal clear at explaining. Her tests are based on the book and lectures. You need to read but it's not bad at all.
This professor is exactly what college professors should be like. She was understanding, and clarified things that were difficult. If you show up the lecture before the test, she basically gives you the questions. You'll still have to do some reading, and some studying for the essays but they're pretty straight forward. Encourages discussion.
This professor is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She wants you to succeed. She is clear of what she expects of you. I would highly recommend her!
One of the best professors on campus. She very kind, considerate and relatable. This class is possibly the easiest class I have ever taken. Easy A. The course is kind of dry but she makes as interesting as it can be
Prof VonM is a spectacular teacher. She gives you ALL the materials you need to pass each test. You need to read and take notes to do well on the tests and final project. She is there if you have questions, or just to chat about your thoughts on the subject. She wants you to pass and makes the subject interesting and relevant. Participate and study
She is an amazing professor, you can really tell she wants you to know the material. 1 midterm, 3 papers and the final. She basically gives you all the answers in class that you'll need for the midterm and final. The papers are easy as well because she gives you many ideas to write about. However, her lectures are really long and can be boring.
She is one of my favorite professors. As long as you know how to write, then you should be fine. She is very helpful and cares about her students. Fair to stay it is an easy A. Take her, trust me. Her lectures might be boring, but it will be worth it.
This class was EASY! There were 2 papers and 1 midterm and 1 final. She grades really nicely on the papers and she basically gives you the answers for the exams.
VERY easy class to pass, even if you don't show up and I went to every class. All tests basically come from the book and the book has all the answers. Three tests, one final paper, all easy. However, the class is INCREDIBLY boring. She's very sweet and tries to make it entertaining, but it's really boring when you don't care.
Professor Von Mayrhauser is literally the sweetest instructor I've met at CSUN thus far. She reminded me of a fairy godmother! She genuinely cares about her students and their success. She is kind of all over the place as far as lectures go but she is super smart and she picks up on things even though you may not think so.
Professor von M. is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She honestly cares about her student, which is something I can't say for many professors. She is also incredibly knowledgeable about her field, and shares her insights with us freely. With that being said, her lectures are very dry. I had a hard time staying awake. Very easy though.
1 Midterm, 1 Final, and a Project Portfolio which comes from the projects in the textbook. She is so kind and sweet, and only hopes to change students perspectives on language in every daily life. The lectures could be very boring, but the class is really easy to pass. She literally gave us the answers to the multiple choice on the MT and F exams.
Professor Von M. is great. Her lectures relate to real life and you learn about interacting with people from an anthropologist perspective. She adores her job and gives a lot of real life examples. She means well, and I like that she doesn't teach straight from the book. She wants you to pass so let me her help you, ask questions, and take notes.
Professor Von Mayrhauser is such a sweet and caring lady. Her class is easy to pass, with just a bit of effort. If you're interested in anthropology or it's your major, then you'll love the class and you'll learn so much from her. Otherwise, (not her fault) the material is boring. Overall, she's a great teacher and I highly recommend her.
A great experience! Prof von M is a wonderful ambassador to the humanities. The way she teaches the class makes you wrestle with important questions and gets you thinking like a humanist right away. Highly recommended!
One of the most passionate and caring professors i have ever had. Would definitely recommend her classes. I learned a lot and enjoyed going to class.
Professor Von Mayrhauser is an awesome person. I never had the opportunity to meet her, but she was very engaged in our online class. It was an interesting class to take, and it knocks out a GE. During the summer the class consisted of 6 discussions, 6 quizes, 5 projects from the textbook you wish to do, and a final portfolio.
Easy A if you do all the work. No test. Just online quizzes &online discussions. You need the book for the quizzes. 1 final paper but as long as you use her format and answer the questions you will be fine. It could be boring class but I really learned a lot and would take her again. Use the book for the quizzes. You will find what you need.
Online version of this class is very manageable workload. Every week watch the video lectures she uploads, read short chapter, engage in discussion board & respond to a classmate. One project at the end of class 10 page paper. She helps you pick topic very clearly laid out. Lets you make up missing work. Amazing teacher with amazing attitude.
I took this course online. You have to complete around 14 modules and read an online textbook. While the modules are time-consuming, the teacher grades easily as I received 100 on every module for only writing one paragraph per question. You also have to post on the discussion board 10 times. Not the most exciting class but the teacher is nice!
Bless this woman, she is an incredible professor! She goes above and beyond to help her students succeed not just in her class but also in choosing their career paths. I highly recommend her!
Took this online, recommend. Safe GE pick. You just have to listen to lectures and fill out templates. No quizzes or tests or papers. No extra credit, but you wont need it. If you follow her directions you get full credit. Really sweet lady, if your interested in anthropology shed probably write great recommendations.
Online course consists of one discussion board and one quiz per week, with the main language and culture project due in multiple parts throughout the semester. Very reasonable workload. She's an incredibly kind and caring professor and the material is quite interesting. 100% recommend.
A very kind hearted lady passionate about her subject. Lectures are pre-recorded which was nice. You have weekly discussions and quizzes which are basically free points. Aside from that you have to write an essay on a topic you get to to choose. A great choice for an upper division GE.
I really enjoyed my class with Professor Von M. She's knowledgeable, caring, and fostered good discussions during class. A lot of reading, but you overall a very manageable workload. Good feedback throughout the semester and I feel as if I improved my writing skills throughout the class.
I loved taking Professor Von M.'s class! This was a fully online class and she had prepared videotaped lectures along with the readings. Each week had to write a response to what you learned in the chapter, respond to a classmate, and take a short quiz. 1 paper written through the semester was the final and turned in drafts overtime. Loved class!
Out of all my online classes, since covid, Dr. Mayrhauser has been a real treat! She prerecords all her lectures, so that way they are accessible at students' convenience. She is always available to help & is very responsive. Her class is very straight forward--you will get an A if you read the book and participate. She is also really kind & funny!
Professor Von M. was an amazing ! This was my first fully online course I took at CSUN and I was nervous at first when it first began but she makes her class easy to pass it consists of weekly group discussions and quizzes, free online textbook through the CSUN library !
I took it for GE in the summer course and very easy to pass with an A. Quiz with 3 attempts and Discussion per module. The total of modules is 15, started from module 0 to module 14. Every module has lecture videos already. One project, splitting into 5 steps which are assignments. Also, the professor provided a free etextbook for reading.
Take her class!
Class was asynchronous online. It consisted of recorded lecture videos, reading, discussions, and a couple of essays. Professor was a real kind and helpful lady and she is always willing to help during her office hours. I recommend taking one of her classes.
I love this professor! Her class is relatively set up simple (I took an online course) and she stays consistent with the weekly discussion and quizzes. She doesnt grade hard, as long as you do the work you get the credit. Shes also very thoughtful and caring and creates a safe space. Shes understanding as well. I recommend!!!
I took her online classes, and all i can say is shes truly an angel. Shes very caring and helpful and does everything to make you feel comfortable in her class. Thank you very much Professor for the course. I enjoyed every minute of your lecture .
She so nice, give you the opportunity to redo assignments if you got a bad grade, giving you extra time to explain and make sure you understand the topic, she's really respectful and motivated, discussions and quizzes are due every week and its easy as long as you follow the instructions, if you don't get something text her, she's ready to help you
The best Professor I have ever had ! So sweet very understanding and helpful theres no way you can fail this class only if you really tried I would take her for another class . There are weekly assignments but they are super easy and she graded them quick
Her lectures are interesting and she really cares about her students. No tests for the midterms and finals but had to do essay papers instead.
Amazing Professor! Very understanding and the material is presented in a clear manner. Would definitely take another one of her classes.
This professor is the best! I wish all professors were like her. The subject was so interesting and thanks to her I plan to take other anthropology courses! It made me connect to my culture which I loved! The course consists of weekly lectures separated by sections, chapter readings, discussion posts, a quiz, and a final essay(for summer)
Amazing professor! She was very attentive, helpful and really has a passion for teaching along with helping her students grow! The class was not difficult, everything was essay passed including the quizzes. Highly recommend this professor if you are looking for someone who works with you, is patient and knows what they are talking about.
Literally my favorite professor this semester! Very funny and approachable, her lectures are great and our textbook was a free pdf. Assignments are weekly discussion posts, quizzes every few weeks, and a final project at the end of the semester. She is really easy to talk to and is understanding when you have personal issues that get in the way. :)
At first this class seemed overwhelming with the amount of work you had to do for the little points. As the semester progressed though the class got way easier. I highly recommend this class to anyone with a heavy dashboard or anyone period. You have to work for the A, but easy nonetheless.
One of the nicest professors at CSUN. She truly has a passion for her career and it reflects on her lectures. For someone who took six classes this semester, I appreciated the fair coursework she has outlined. No tests, just quizzes weekly on what you took away from each weekly module and discussions, and also a project report for the final.
