She is the worst teacher I have ever had! We were consistently 2 chapters behind the other classes, and she rushed through all the content. She wasn't very nice either. On top of all that, she gives multiple choice questions that are worth 5 marks each.

Dissorganized, unhelpful, insultive. Did not finish course content in time alloted, but tested on the all content. Lectures were rushed and uninformative. Her classes cause much confusion and leave students ill prepared for higher level Chem.

I feel like i would have learned more from simply reading a textbook. She rushed through everything and didn't explain anything clearly at all. I'm sure she's smart but she cannot teach. She also was terrible at giving extra help and answering any questions.

It seems that she is just reading the notes that we print off of the internet back to us. Her (eg) don't help at all b/c she rushes thru them and you don't understand anything that is going on in class. She thinks that you have no other classes other than hers and that is all that you should study.

Wow, she can't explain Chemistry to save her life. Here's my advice: GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN. Unless you're an Organic Chemistry genius, in which case you don't have to go to class anyways.

Acturally, I like her class. I don't think her notes are unclear or something...pretty good!! Maybe her exam is not that easy as other professors', but that's resonable...any way...I like her and her class!

Just reads the notes back to you in class and if you have questions, suggests you go through your 'general chemistry' stuff....not everyone has taken it yet so that's useless. I get nothing from her lectures and her notes aren't that great either...

I made the mistake of staying in her class, and now im paying for it! Terrible notes, terrible lectures. unless ur a complete genius who can somehow figure out what she actually wants us to learn from her class instead of organic, then get out of there as soon as u can!

this was my nap class. she has this droning voice that makes it impossible to stay awake for. the notes are horrible, the examples are rushed. not the best prof, i would suggest switching if you can, there are much better ones. the midterm wasn't too bad if you studied by doing practice questions

She was the best professor I had all term. If you're willing to put some effort into class and do the problem sets you can get an A in the class. If you have any questions she is more than willing to answer them and her notes are great and you never need to know anything not in them. Awesome Prof!

Really good notes, sometimes not the greatest at explaining, but she really prepares you for the exams, and makes it very clear what is expected on the exams. her final is tough but fair, in relation to the material that is provided. (the difficulty has more to do with the course than the teacher).

K heres the skinny. Course is tough! Midterm is a trainwreck, was for me anyways. Final is good, study your mechanisms so hard you know them backwords, they are crucial! But ya shes ok, kinda funny, kinda not, hard to explain really, final was awesome, midterm sucked!

She's a nice person, but a horrible teacher. Her notes are straight out of the textbook, which is good. She doesnt explain things properly and with little background information. I alwayed ended up sleeping in her class. If you need things explained to you, pick another prof. If not, she's ok.

People who complain didn't show up to classes, which is the true reason they did poorly. If you are willing to put decent effort into the course, she's great to have

Will give her full marks for effort, the fact she a nice person. Her exams are fair. However, because she just reads off her powerpoint, which is available on the web, it's very easy to lose interest. This course essentially is a self-study course, with her notes as a guide.

She's an alright prof, it is possible to get by without going to class, but in class, especially in the last few classes she drops a lot of hints for the exams which help a lot. Her notes are pretty cleat, If you do the problems, it's an easy class and you'll do good!

Its easy to get confused during class cuz she goes into examples without explaining the theory part.Her test are fair.But I like how she goes over problems every thursday.Enjoys teaching and she is helpful.Go over her notes before class.You will understand thigns better during class.

Pretty good prof, doesn't always explain the idea behind her examples enough, but for the most part seems very approchable should you want to ask a question. Tests are fair, and she will hint at the questions that might be on it so pay attention.

I think for the most part she is a pretty good prof, I enjoy organic chemistry and have no complaints about her teaching methods. Her printed notes are great and very helpful, much clearer than the textbook. Seems very willing to help if you need it, and will hint about what is potential test material - pay attention when she does!!!

I think she is a great prof. Her notes are terrific, and save you a lot of time when it comes to studying for exams (which are more than fair). If you work hard you can do reasonable well in her class, if you do bad it is not her fault! Great prof!

Boring yes, but it's an easy class. Her notes are very helpful so I have only cracked open the textbook a handful of times. Her exams are almost identical to the practice ones she posts before hand, so there is no reason why anyone can't do well in her class. Take the class if you want an easy mark. But warning, you WILL be bored...

An average prof, has good notes which you should use and avoid the textbook, and tests are fair and realistic for the concepts presented. Pay attention in class to what she says will be on the exam because it's pretty much always the case.

Very good prof, very approachable and does her best to help you. Her notes were terrific, you don't even need the textbooks except for doing practice problems. Brzezowski is an OK professor. Organic chem is a very hard course and she does a decent job teaching it. She cuts out some of the very hard stuff, has great online notes and the key is to be sure to do the practice exams because they are very close to the actual exam. She may not be the best, but she's definetly not the worst either.

She's an OK professor. She's better than the rest because she cuts out A LOT of the harder, uncessary material that you don't need to learn. She has fantastic online notes and her exam questions come out of her practice exams, so make sure you do those! Plus, she tells you which mechanism you need to know, and there are usually not too many.

Tries her best to make the materials presented as clear as possible, great notes. would suggest doing the problem sets in the text book that she assign because it's good practice (if you want to secure at least an A-) and some actually shows up on exam. fair questions on the exam with usually last one that actually require some thinking

Very straightforward class. Notes are extremely succinct, however lecture is mostly a read-aloud of the notes. Class time is great for questions. Exams are incredibly easy given appropriate study time and practice exams (very similar to actual exam). Relates the material learned in class to its applications. Not the greatest personality.

Probably the best Prof I had first year. She is very approachable and goes out of her way to hold review sessions (which I strongly recommend going to). She explains all concepts clearly and makes it easy to understand. Her exams are fair and she always gives hints as to what she will test on.

If you do the problem sets, you should do well because all her exam questions are pulled from the problem sets. Focus on the challenge questions because at least one will show up on the exam. Very straightforward, tries to make everything easy to understand. Very approachable during office hours.

After returning from a long absence from school and a poor experience with Organic chem. Her interest in actually teaching us how to do things makes me love organic chem. Some profs don't care what you learn ... she does care and I can go on and do well in other chem courses because of the foundation she is creating for me.

This prof is seriously the best!!! She is the nicest prof I have ever had. Generally speaking I am not comfortable asking the prof questions after class, but I went anyway, and she was so hopeful. She even inquired as to whether or not I thought she was doing a good job in the lectures. She relates O-chem to parts of our everyday life.The best!!

Dr. Brzezowski was a fantastic prof. Her notes were perfectly clear, she gave tons of practice questions to help one understand reactions and mechanisms and her exams were extremely fair in that if you studied and did her problem sets, then you would do well. She doesn't try to trick you, she just merely makes sure you did the work to do well.

Dr. Brzezowski is one of the best profs I've had. She did not require a textbook, had clear, organized, pre-printable notes, and was concerned about making herself clear to the class. She can also be very funny. Exams are challenging, but straightforward, and often duplicate practice problems. Attend class and do problems, and you'll excel!

My favourite teacher of first year. There was nothing new on exams, everything was straight from the problem sets or the practice exams. Normal curve. No tricks. Dont need the textbook because her notes are PERFECT. Straightforward class, got an A+. Seriously, she makes ochem EASY.

Get out of this section and take the other section. I agree that other professor teaches far superior than her (Dr. David Bundle lecture was good) The exams were too hard and the curve kills you. Take the larger class. Get out!

She has her own notes, which make things easier and cut down on costs. Our first two midterm averages were 69% and 72%, however she said the final is typically around 63%. It's been somewhat easy so far, but that's kind of a bad thing because of the curve. Most people love her simply because of her notes though.

She's great, but attending her class is a double end sword. Her notes are wonderful & her exams are fair. But, due to that her averages were pretty high, and her class is curved. So when I was getting high 80's on the exams it wasn't good enough to even get an A- or an A. She is wonderful though and if you miss class it isn't the end of the world.

Advanced Ochem was easy with here. Exams were fair and she occasionally gave interesting examples. Although, I have had Ochem professor who were a lot more interesting. Take this course with her and you will pass.

she has the greatest notes i have ever used in my 3 years at university. her exams are virtually photocopied from her problem sets yet average is still low. Do her problem sets ahead of time (theyre really long) and know the reactions at the end of the course and you will get an A+

Take her class for her notes- they are FANTASTIC! Midterms are literally the EXACT problems from her problem sets, so do them and you'll be fine. Not the most approachable person in the world, often seems to have better things to do then help students. Overall, though, decent prof!

Her midterms are DIRECTLY from the problem sets. They're really long, but if you do them, the exam will feel like a review. Midterm #1 avg. was 63% and #2 was 70%. ~83% required for an A- going into the final. Great notes, good teaching, and VERY fair exams. She's the best 261 prof at the U of A. Switch your whole schedule to get her if you can!!!

Helpful during her office hours, and holds help sessions before exams. Her notes are the best you'll ever see in Chemistry, and her midterm exams are identical to the problem sets... and the final was kind of similar. Just keep up with the problem sets, and you'll be fine. I expected OCHEM to be so hard... It wasn't bad at all. Got an A! :)

If Christine is teaching CHEM 261 and/or 263, take it with her. I promise you won't regret it. Amazing notes, exams couldn't be more fair(er). Excellent professor... a little boring sometimes, but she's not there to entertain you. 85%+ was an A in this class which is very do-able. Do EVERY single problem set, and you're guaranteed a mark in 90s.

Her notes are amazing. I haven't even taken my textbook out of the packaging and its the end of the term... Tests are very similar to the problem sets and practice tests - no surprises and very straightforward. Sometimes she explains things a bit ambiguous, but overall she is really good. I would recommend for sure!

An amazing prof! Her own notes package is comprehensive and she makes it clear you don't need the textbook. If you go to class she goes through every reaction step by step and states what will be tested. Exams are fair, exactly like her problem sets. She's attentive to the students in her lecture, and definitely knows her ochem. Loved her class!

My favourite prof this semester, making Ochem enjoyable and quite easy to follow along. Her midterms are IDENTICAL to practice midterms (therefore super easy), but you do have to understand material. If you do try, the course will be easy and enjoyable. She was interesting and her notes are great! No textbook needed (saved ~$100, thanks :P)!!

Not the most interesting but her notes are fantastic and are available for purchase in the organic chemistry stockroom for only $20! There is no other text required and she tests strictly out of her notebook. Her tests are very similar to practice problems and practice midterms/final.

Christine is the best prof for sure. Her notes package was awesome and she had literally three or four questions on both midterms straight from the problem sets. Do them! The final was a bit tricky because of all the rxns but she tells you which to memorize. Gem of a teacher (she actually teaches!), really hope she's back next year.

Brzezowski was a dream of a prof! Tests are a carbon copy of her practice tests and are straight out of her practice sets, although are extremely long. No textbook needed. Her notes are fantastic. A bit intimidating outside of class, though. DEFINITELY switch into her if you can!

Prettiest notes you'll ever see. Seriously her notes are unbelievable. Literally amazing. Quite helpful over email, and her tests are oh so fair. Just do the practice questions beforehand (they're long) and do the practice tests. Awesome prof.

Buy her notes they are the awesomest notes ever. She needs to learn how to spice up her lectures but really fair with exams. Don't be lazy and DO PROBLEM SETS. They are long but if you want a good mark, do them. Clearly outlines what is on the exams and if you understand how to solve the practice problems, you are golden. Great prof! Recommend.

I am seriously contemplating a major in organic chemistry after I had this prof for chem 261. She had a customized text/work book so you don't have to spend money on the actual text. Her notes are SOOO clear attendance is NOT even mandatory to get an A. Just study hard. However, she is a little difficult to approach.

She was a good, yet monotone prof. I struggled in this class, but started reading her notes which you can print online or buy for 20 dollars. You need to work hard in this class and practice. Don't fal behind. Her exams are similar to practice tests.

Honestly her notes package was great but the way she marks her exams are a bit brutal. Honestly she expects word-for-word exact answers or she will hammer you if you paraphrase even a little. She's a decent prof, you just need to put in a good amount of work to do well.

She is a very tough teacher. Her notes are great and model the questions found on midterms/final. HOWEVER, she is very unapproachable and can be downright rude to students when they see her in office hours. Also, the way she marks exams are ridiculous as she requires word for word answers of what she expects.

Her notes are very good, but thats about it. She promotes memorization of her problem sets rather than understanding. If a grade 5 could memorize the answers to her PS, he could get an A+=Very sad!

As everyone else has said, her notes are really clear. Her exam questions are fair and she takes her questions directly out of the practice exams and problems, but expects word for word answers. She tests your ability to memorize an answer key instead of your understanding of the concepts. Start studying early, there are A LOT of questions.

I enjoyed this course. It was one of the most relevant and interesting ones that I've taken so far. That being said, it was not easy, and almost gave me a mental breakdown because I only had two days to study for the final. The prof is amazing, but unapproachable. However, if you do go to her for help, you will realize that she is nice and helpful.

To be honest, I didn't like her even though I came out with a good grade. Her notes are the bomb and give you an excuse to skip class :). However, she expects you to just memorize and regurgitate her own explanations... doesn't promote understanding of the material....

Great prof did not do very well in Chem 101 but I excelled in her class, the first two midterms do not require memorization but do the practice problems the final does and she gives you the sheet to memorize, very fair and interesting prof.

If you can't do OChem with Dr.B you can't do OChem. It's a lot of work but she's the most organized prof out there and makes it totally doable. My only tip is that you do have to study differently for the final than the midterms. First slave away memorizing your reactions THEN start doing the practice problems.

I did poorly in CHEM 101(C-) and was terrified to take OCHEM but Dr.B’s & notes were amazing! Above curve for both midterms but the final KILLED me, nothing like midterms, had to be a chem genius to understand some q's as nothing like notes/practise set. Overall good class/prof just be PREPARED for very HARD final!!

A blessing sent from heaven for O-chem! For some reason the averages for exams were very low and the questions were THE EXACT SAME as the problem sets and notes. She made this course the easiest A+ ever!!!! To bad she isn't teaching past this semester...

Good prof. As long as you know notes you are good. The most important thing is to solve supplementary problems. They always repeat on the final and midterms.

I am back to thank this wonderful lady for an INCREDIBLE first semester of organic chem. After narrowly escaping Stryker, her foundation on the fundamentals was the ONLY thing that got me through 263. I would constantly refer back to her AMAZINGLY clear notes for clarification on concepts.. Also, she taught us the first unit in 263!! INCREDIBLE!

Just like her husband, she gives incredibly fair exams. Use her notes because they are amazing; the textbook is pointless, don't even buy it. If you put in the work, you will get the grade.

Great prof. Can be rude at times in class, but her exams are the most fair exams I've seen since starting university. Also she explains concepts many times and very clearly. Don't be scared off if she seems kind of scary, stick with it!

There is no doubt Dr. B knows how to teach. But when I went to talk with her about some serious medical issues I was going through during the semester she was very insensitive and rude. She basically told me to give up on my goals and just suck it up. Her behaviour was unacceptable, especially for a student who is actually trying their hardest.

She's a good prof, but an extremely rude person. She doesn't have any office hours at all and reply condescendingly when you ask for clarifications. You don't really need to do the additional practice problems (I didn't and got an A)

Like others - I have to say, this lady is nice is class. She teaches directly out of her textbook, and is the cheapest one on campus. I congratulate her for doing so. However, I have never met a lady so rude in person. You tell the class to go to your office hours for help, but she ends with telling you that you won't pass the final.

Got a B+ in chem 101, got an A in ochem. I RECOMMEND HER! She only uses her notes and no textbook, but her notes are basically like a textbook just dumbed down with lots of examples. Quizzes and exams are EXACTLY like the practice ones just different molecules used. She likes to put the EXACT practice challenge problems on the quizzes and exams.

As someone who procrastinates a lot, i'll say, DO NOT PROCRASTINATE IN THIS CLASS! If you really want to do well, you have to do her practice problems. Tests are usually directly from them. I appreciate her '24-hr reply' a day before the midterm and final. Her textbook the notebook she wrote. that is your BESTFRIEND. mock papers are too.

Can't say enough good things about Dr. B. Yes, organic chem can be notoriously hard for anyone who doesn't practice practice practice (do that) but Dr. Brzezowski cannot make your life any easier: her lectures are crystal clear and her notes and practice exams are all you need to do well. Don't slack, it's easy to fall behind. Take her class!

Dr. Brzezowski's class was amazing, loved her lectures and her personalized notes. The practice problems were very helpful and prepared you well for the exams, which were very fair. Would take her class over and over again, highly recommend!

Dr. B is okay. Her notes are good and her problem sets are a look into the future for the midterm and final, word for word. Memorize her answers. She's nice in class but when you go to talk to her in person, she is very rude and condescending. You just have to suck it up and ask for help though because she will point out what you need to work on.

I had her for both 261&263, and she was amazing for both. Do her practice problems, and you're set. She tries to make the exams fair and easy, but chem 263 is brutal. There is only so many times I can look at benzene and draw those ridiculous reaction mechanisms without wanting to kick myself. Average is slightly high for an ochem class though.

midterm averages and curve were really wonky. Midterm 2, average was 65 but to get a B you would need 55 - 84%. Material itself in this class isn't bad, just practice thats the only thing you can do. i counted roughly 80+ reaction synthesis and 13 mechanisms. Know your theory thoroughly too especially aromatics and conjugation. nice prof though

Dr. B makes this course as easy as it possibly can be. Just do the problem sets and know them inside out and you should expect an A+ or maybe an A if you make a few mistakes. Don't waste your time making a guide to memorize all the reactions, focus more on when to use them (which you do in the problem sets) and "have them at your fingertips."

If you want to learn OCHEM, take Dr. B, otherwise, I'd recommend another prof . Dr. B has all the resources for you to do well (exam is straight up problem set) so the only excuse for poor performance is lack of preparation. Average is high b/c of this. Compare this to a course that lacks resources and throws "surprise questions" in an exam.

Dr B is phenomenal. Had her for 261 and 263 and she truly made everything crystal clear (or at least as clear as ochem is going to get). Her notes are amazing and she's very helpful if you need extra help. You just really have to practice - do ALL of her problem sets. Twice. If you know how to do her problems, her tests are easy as they're the same

Amazing Ochem prof, take class with her. She has amazing clear notes and you dont need a textbook. Make sure to do the practice questions and you will do well. I changed my schedule to have her, and am so happy I did, best prof for them, take class with her!

Dr. Brzezowski is very talented at guiding students thoughtfully and clearly through her lectures and ensures that her explanations are tedious and precise. She is sometimes a little weird/awkward but that doesn't get in the way of her teaching. She makes her expectations very clear and illustrates what she expects students to know for tests.

Dr. B is an amazing professor. She may seem a little intense at first, but still really cares about her students. She also has a very dark sense of humour which I found hysterical. Her midterm/final are mostly straightforward, quizzes are tricky. Her notes are CRYSTAL CLEAR. She's also very motherly, all about tough love :)

Great prof with crystal clear notes and explanations! Exams are like problem sets so study those; the only problem is memorizing word for word. Explaining the theory in your own words will lose you a lot of marks b/c her grading criteria involves precise words being used!! Would take a class with her again.

She was pretty clear on what she expected you to know and not to know. Seemed to skip over lots of explanations and just show examples. Didn't teach the way I learn, she seems sort of all over the place and goes off on long tangents about things that aren't important to the material.

Dr. B's notes are amazing! Super clear and exactly what comes on her exams- her challenge questions are the last questions of her exams. She is kinda picky about using her wording and is particular about drawings. The quizzes (8% each) are straightforward and boost your grade. Pay attention to detail if you want an A.

She was super clear about expectations, and bluntly told you what would be on tests. Her test questions were not only in her book of notes but also in her practice quizzes/ exams. You need to memorize. She was a little monotone but easy to understand, and wanted everyone to do well. Get her book of notes instead of the textbook.

Brzezowski made organic chemistry as easy as she possibly could. Her book of notes was succinct so no textbook was needed. The questions on her tests were straight from the problem sets. Her dark sense of humour made lectures much more enjoyable. Such a shame that she's leaving after this term; would have loved to have her as a prof for CHEM 263.

She is the best professor at the U of A, however, unfortunately she is leaving after this term. Her notes are absolutely amazing and she gives you a lot of problem sets to practice. Her exams are also straight from the problem sets. She made me fall in love with organic chemistry.

Definitely one of the best profs at uofa. Sucks how she's leaving this term i really wanted to take chem263 with her and so did many others. Her quiz and exams are very fair if you study. Her notes are ver clear. Do the problem sets and you're set for a very good grade! literally not taking 263 next term just in case she comes back next year lol.

One of the greatest prof's I've ever had! Notes were amazing and her explanations made everything make more sense. She bluntly told you what mechanisms you needed to remember for the final exam. I would have loved to have her for 263.

The course is difficult, but Dr. Brzezowski herself was excellent. She seemed to care about her students well-being and was easy to reach outside of class. Her notes packages, practice questions, and practice exams are great and are all you need to pass the course. Definitely hit up the OChem help room, too. The lab write-ups are tough.
