Needs to stop reading off paper and actually teach something. Needs to comment on what her students says instead of just knodding her head or giving hard looks. She's an easy marker. Not that bad of a prof overall.
She's a good teacher, and easy to understand in the course. She's strict in following her schedule for the year, but that just keep everyone on track. Her only real drawback is that she doesn't really answer the questions her students pose to her.
Very friendly, easily approachable
She's a wicked prof. Her notes are all online and there are very detailed therefore you don't really need to go to class. She will emailed you back immediately if you have any questions!
Engages students in classroom discussion - very strict with papers - has said it's an open book assignment so, expectations are high! Cover all the angles. Overall, good prof!
Comment about attending class-she gives hints during class what's important and what's not important to study. WOrth your while to be there...you wouldn't want to waste your time studying non-important topics
Great prof! Classes are fun (for business 1000 standards) and she's a great, friendly person to be around. Her tests are relatively easy and she is a fair marker. Thoroughly enjoyed having her as my business 1000 prof.
Very friendly woman. I enjoyed coming to her class because she keeps things very interesting. Her tests are easy and fair enough if you study. She marks essays reasonably. Business 1000 was the one class I never skipped last semester. I highly recommend her.
She is a nice woman, but dont know hot to teach finance, test are hard.
Excellent teacher in everyway possible. Does lots of examples and very approachable and willing to help her students as long as they ask in advance!
Amazing prof! Very nice, if you go to class, she will give hints to exam questions.
Loved having her as my prof!! She tells you exactly what you need to know. Chapter 9 was 60 slides long and she told us the only 4 slides out of that to study. I would recommend her, but attend classes because she gives many hints & even questions on the final about random things we talked about in class. Would love to take another course with her!
One of the best professors I have had yet at Memorial. Focuses ONLY on material that will be tested, tests are extremely fair, and if you attend class, there is no reason you wouldn't get A in this course. Excellent excellent teacher.
This prof gives very easy tests. Look at the material the night before you will do fine. On the bad side, she does not seem interested in the material at all and skips over things very quickly. She compares your presentation to everyone else's and gives you a mark with very limited feedback. She could improve by developing grading templates.
I question this prof's knowledge in OT. She has a finance background and doesn't seem to know or care about this course. When asked a question from the test she gave, she said she would have to go look it up again because she forgot the answer. She never goes the full time for a class thou, which I don't mind!
Ms. Clouston is a friendly caring lecturer. She wants her students to do well. She works hard to engage international students into class discussion.
Christine is a friendly woman who cares about her students. OT is an easy course, and easy to get a good grade too.
Good prof. OT not her main subject, but she does a good job with material. She has lots of corporate experience which she shares. She cares about students.
She was an amazing prof. If you did your homework and practiced questions before tests, it was easy. The final was a bit outrageous but all previous grades were 90+. If you go to her outside of class she is so helpful. Will do anything for an interested student.
She seems random with material and doesn't know too much about what she talking about.
I found her class enjoyable, she is funny. The group paper was really easy and she didn't ask for very many pages. The exams were a little tricky but if you read the text and her notes it wasn't to bad.
Excellent prof. Go to class, do the assigned questions, ask for extra help if you need it and you'll get an A.
Great teacher! Keeps you interested and is easy to listen to! All notes are posted online, which is great too
Nice person, but very unorganized.
Never met her in person, but she was slow responding to emails and danced around the subject. Seems very busy with all her sections.
Christine is a very organized caring Instructor. She wants her students to do well. Attend class, and ask for help as needed. Students who do poorly, are at fault for not trying. Don't blame her if you get a lousy grade!
Great Prof! Took BUSI 1000 online with her and she was great! Answered every question and her tests were easy!! I heard she's great on campus as well!
Nice enough woman, but pushes through material quickly without going into details. Seems effortlessly easy to get a good mark in this course. More like a high school course, than an engaging university class.
Christine is an excellent prof for this course. She is knowledgeable and knows the material. Does tons of examples which makes studying for the midterms a breeze. Tests and exams were fair and if you do the suggested problems and attend class you'll do fine. Highly recommended !
Christine is an excellent Finance Instructor. She does tons of examples and problems, and cares deeply that her students "get-it". She is very organized, and uses this skill effectively. She has great patience for those that wish to learn, and little for those looking for a ride. Note, you absolutely must attend class!
Fantastic Prof. Would never had gotten through this course without her as a Prof. Totally open to help after class with lots of examples. Very passionate. You must attend class. Lots of hints in class. I would recommend to take her class if you can for 4500
Excellent professor. She understands that the course content can be difficult at times, so she emphasizes important problems and does lots examples on the board. She also makes herself available to students who need extra help but it is necessary to show that you have made an effort, which I think is beneficial. Great prof, would highly recommend.
Mrs. Clouston was a great prof. Her classes were a laugh and the material wasn't too hard. Some questions on her exams can be a bit vague, but most are pretty good. I would recommend taking her.
Mrs. Clouston is a tough but fair Finance Instructor. She works hard to get her students to understand the material. Exams are tough, but attending class, doing all the assigned problems, and reading the textbook are key to success. I feel she prepared us well for the comprehensive common final exam. Latter was tough, but fair and as expected.
She tells you exactly what is on the tests, down to the very slides. she is great and easy marker for group project as long as you pick a company she doesn't see papers about all the time.. I'd definately take another one of her classes.
Seems like she knows what she's doing until you ask her any problem she doesn't have in front of her. She also reacts horribly when other profs' teaching methods for the course are mentioned. She's sarcastic in a bad way- doesn't treat students with respect. Her tests were fair enough, but unless you're great with math- prepare to teach yourself.
B4500 is a hard course, but a real-life course. Christine brings banking, stock markets, and capital budgeting to life. You must work hard from "day one" in order to get through this course, and you must keep up in class. Material is tough, and you cannot blame the Instructor. She does tons of examples, which is very helpful.
Took one slot a week. She often makes lectures shorter than scheduled time, and condenses material. If you attend class you will get lots of hints for exams. Course content is very basic and straight-forward. She's not a hard marker, and makes even a 2+ hour lecture very easy to sit through.
I did this course by distance and it was okay. She gave you updates periodically about where you should be in the text but other than that you were on your own. The slideshows weren't much of a help and honestly reading the text is your best bet to do well. The group project was a pain, and it was difficult to understand expectations.
Miss Clouston was my favorite teacher. She is very passionate and knows a lot about business and there is much to learn from her. Going to class was very helpful, but you can pass by reading the slides and the book. It is a easy mark if you pay attention and do the work, she wants her students to do good.
Made Busi 1000 so much more interesting than any other prof would, I'm convinced. Her classes were not boring whatsoever, her tests were very easy if you studied her notes (which are online) and read through the text book. Very good grader. She wants her students to succeed and will do anything to make sure that happens! Would 100% recommend her!
Finance is a tough course, there is a lot of material, but she does her best to try and clarify everything. She does plenty of examples, tests are tough but fair. You must keep up and practice everyday to do well. Always willing to meet with you, and also does tutorials before tests.
Christine is an excellent prof for a course that can be difficult. I highly recommend going to class as she does a lot of examples. She is also quite funny and can make class a bit more entertaining. Midterms & final are all multiple choice.
interesting lectures, really knows her stuff. would recommend!
Miss Clouston is by far my favourite prof thus far. She is very passionate about this subject and has multiple great examples to share. Going to class is not a must but you will want to once you hear her lectures. I had it once a week for 2.5 hours and it flew by. Easy marker (multiple choice, fill in the blank, and T/F). She can teach you a lot.
Christine is my favorite prof so far!! I literally enjoy going to her lectures because she is really funny and makes the material very interesting. She knows what she is talking about and her examples are up to date! Attendance is mandatory for passing and her exams are super easy!!
CHRISSY C WE LOVE YOU. She's a little burnt, but a good laugh.
Christine is a great prof, very helpful and kind. Ends classes early.
Ms. Clouston is amazing! Her notes are fantastic and I do recommend going to class for hints of what is going to be on the midterms and final but its not really crucial you go. The group paper is a little bothersome but other then that love her class! She keeps class interesting and is really good with staying on topic.
Very interesting prof. Gives a million examples to make the material clear. And also gives personal examples which make the course fun. If you go to class, you'll find the course easy
Clouston is a very fun, clean cut professor who knows business very well and is able to explain it clearly. Very good notes, and there are no surprises one her exams. However, the group paper is a hassle that will bring your average way down without a lot of effort.
Clouston has to be the best prof I've had!! Great lectures that are never boring or unclear. She has great notes that are posted online, and explains them in great detail. There are no surprises on her exams/tests and are quite easy with a bit of studying. Group paper can be a hassle but effort is key. Very fun and clear cut prof! Very educated!!
As an online prof she is not very helpful. Answers emails with one or two line responses and does not answer all your questions. Her outlines, especially for papers, are not clear and she will not take responsibility when an inconsistency is her mistake. Ex. part on outline said do X -did it exactly as asked- bad grade- said she wanted XYZ
Christine is fantastic instructing B1000. She brings business topics to life, and uses many real-world examples. If you read your text and attend class, you will do well. Paper is group work, but only five pages. Must be quality, not quantity. She is a good instructor for this course.
Christine is a great Finance Professor. She loves teaching, and it shows. She cares about students. She does lots of problems in class. She has extra tutorials as well before exams. Yes, this is a challenging course. Christine works hard to get you to understand Finance. You must work hard, and keep up. Practice every problem over and over.
Hilarious lady! She wants you to succeed and does her absolute best to make sure everyone does! I would definitely recommend her to anyone!!!
Just go to class and you will end up with an A. Loved her... very clear and gives questions from assignments and class notes. Must attend to understand the material.
Very tough grader, never clear of what she wants on her exams or the group paper and she reads from the slides every day. Expects you to know everything that's in the textbook for exams but will not tell you that unless you ask, but she will tell you in class that she grades heavily on her slides. Would never take again, got all 50's and 60's.
Great professor. Good way to be introduced in the faculty of business, very nice lectures with a relatively light course load. One group paper worth 20% of your grade, plus 2 midterms and a final. Not cumulative. Very intelligent, knows her stuff.
This prof grades fairly, it is not a hard course and she does an amazing job at keeping everything straightforward and concise. Group project was fun, exams are fair.
Christine is a funny prof who seems to care about you passing or failing the course, however I find her lectures fairly dry, especially if you take the 1230-3 class once a week. Never just rely on her slides, make sure you read the textbooks as well, you should understand it more if you do.
Christine is a caring Instructor at MUN. She works hard to deliver the material. Attend class, pay attention, read your text, and you will do well.
Christine was a great prof that I would recommend to anyone. She keeps the lecture funny and entertaining, while still giving great tips to remember important things. I would recommend going to class and actually listening, it'll help when it's time for tests.
Wonderful prof! She's very no-nonsense, which is a plus. She also makes the course material very interesting and her midterms and final are pretty straightforward. The only criticism I could offer was that her instructions for the group paper were vague; however, we followed what instructions she did give and got an A.
She was a great prof! Nothing extraordinary but she described everything in detail as well as made everything interesting. Was vague on group project but my group and I still did well. Just study and put in some effort and you will get at least a B.
By far my fave prof yet! She makes class very interesting and tells stories about her business experience. She gives lots of hints as to what will be on her tests, so pay attention to her in class
Go to class, pay attention, read the text chapters, and you'll do fine.
Great teacher and I would take again, just make sure you do the work, study and you will do great in her classes
Lectures are good. Real life stories are shared, and used to demonstrate concepts. Going to class is extremely important and necessary to get a good grade.
She is an awesome prof. She would put things in exams she taught well in class. Attending classes are very important since she tells a lot in class that comes in exams. Read through class slides and her notes and didn't have to use a book.
Awesome prof. I took the Tuesday once a week 7-9:30 slot and she made it a lot less painful to be there that late. Really important to attend don't just rely on her slides because she doesn't always go by them and the content she talks about in class is really important and always on the midterms. She's also hilarious and made the class super fun.
I really liked her as a prof. She made class very bearable and almost fun. Even though she always read the slides to the class, she still found a way to make it interesting. I would recommend her for sure
Really enjoyed Business 1000 with Christine. She is a really nice woman who wants all of her students to do well. Spending 2.5 hours with her flew by. She is hilarious and I found her lectures very interesting. Her exams were quite hard but if you pay attention in class and do the readings you should be fine.
she makes the course relatable and memorable
Very funny prof. Made the 2.5 hour class go by fast. Always let's you out early. Goes through the slides quickly while explaining them fully. Gives a lot of hints of exam questions in class. Lots of extra side notes in class that help give a better understanding of the material. Can't wait to have her again for other courses.
Christine is a great prof, and it's very possible to do well in the course if you put in the work. She provides a lot of practice examples that prepare you for the midterms and final. You really do have to know the material though, because her midterms and finals are LONG. Overall a very nice person who cares about her students :)
Overall Christine is really nice and funny. She makes her lectures interesting and highlights important information that is on the midterms/final. 10/10 recommend
Very specific with what material must be known for midterms and finals! Makes it easy to get a good grade!
She's very funny, and though the time for my slot is 12:30-3 on a Friday we get out no later than 2:10 normally. She makes the lecture go very fast and she is very funny. She is very clear on what you need to know and what you can ignore
Christine is an amazing prof! She is super funny and her lectures aren't dry at all. She is very engaging when she lectures and she tries her best to help everyone understand the concepts. She is a very sweet woman who genuinely wants everyone to do well in her course. Definitely choose Christine for Business 1000 if you have the option!
She makes lectures interesting even if the content isn't. Would definitely take a course she is teaching again. Says specifically what is going to be on the exams in class.
Christine Clouston is the best prof I have ever had! She makes class extremely fun and tries to engage everyone. Her notes are very good and she makes it clear what is important for studying.
Her lectures are very important to attend because she adds notes and deletes slides as she goes through the power points. Sometimes she will delete 10 or 15 slides at a time, so it's important to know what you need to study. She is well respected and makes lectures interesting with her humour and sarcasm, and she always ends early. Tests are easy.
One of the best profs I have had! She made 2 and a half morning class fly by. Her lectures are very interesting and easy to follow along, however attendance is important because she skips over many slides in some chapters. Genuinely cares about her students and tells you exactly what to study. You definitely will not regret taking this prof!
I took Clouston for my first ever Business course at MUN. Her lectures were very entertaining and she gives good feedback if you go looking for it. She is clear about what is on tests and finals. Posts all her slides online but she doesn't always cover all the material on them. So go to class if you don't wanna read stuff you won't need for tests.
Christine will tell you how it is. She is a hilarious person and this shines through in her teaching style. The course itself tends to be a little dry from time to time but she tried to bring light to it in discussing her own experiences and engaging the class for discussion which made the 2.5 Hr class go by just a little bit faster & we got early!
Attendance at lectures is pretty important as she gives extra notes that aren't on the slides posted on D2L and also cuts out large chunks of material. The midterms are extremely straightforward and easy if you read the material/study the definitions. You can really tell that she wants everyone to do well in the course.
Christina is a beauty. She actually enjoys her job and it shows. I haven't heard one bad thing about her from anyone. Would recommend her for BUSI1000!!
She's sweet. However, if you're not knowledgeable of the city you're living in, and yes I mean if you're an international student, you're going to have to battle for that A. And if you got me wrong, please don't; she's so respectful and her lectures are fun, but she brings examples that you might never heard of in exams.
One of the better profs here!
I found she was rude in feedback, also never received actual papers back to review or fix. Just a remark saying what was wrong. The assignments were not clearly defined. Over all I found her to just not be pleasant.
Christine has a great deal of teaching experience. It shows too. She is fair. She gives good instructions. Online courses are difficult. But Christines regular feedback was timely and good. She suggestions were helpful. I recommend taking this course from this woman.
Gets into detail about every topic with lots of examples
So funny and gives extremely good instruction. I suggest going to class and listening to her as she explains everything really well. I am not a numbers person but I did extremely well in this course because of her. Plus class is always a laugh. Definitely one of the best finance and business 1000 profs at MUN!
Christine is intimidating at first, she has no time for people fooling around in her class, but once you get settled in she is one of the funniest and most knowledgeable profs around. She is by far the best option for this course, and if you put in the work she makes a difficult course very easy. Relies heavily on in class notes on whiteboard.
Had Christine for Business 1000 and 4500. In both cases, she knows what the most important concepts are and models the class of those. Her midterms were fair but the final was brutal.
Grades are based heavily on midterms/final. 25% for each midterm and 50% for final.
She really focuses on what's important and only skims the textbook, which isn't heavy anyway. If you don't show up, you won't pass. She tests on what she teaches a lot more than what is in the book. She's fun and uses a lot of personal examples to hit home what she's teaching. No assignments, two midterms - all MC. I'd be glad to take her again.
Christine is a great prof for 1000. Make sure you go to class because she mainly tests on what she teaches in class in addition to her power point slides.
There is only two midterms and a final exam worth 50%. So there isn't anything to boost your grade if you flunk on of the midterms or exam. Other than that shes really nice and funny.
Christine is a great prof for Busi 1000! She gives lots of hints about possible multiple choice questions and skips a lot of the material so you know which chapters you should focus on and which ones you don't have to look at. As long as you go to class, pay attention, take note of her hints, and follow along in the textbook its an easy A.
Super nice person!
Clouston made the class easy to understand through the weekly updates posted to d2l / brightspace. She was very clear on what she expected and made it easy to get a good grade if you followed the required reading.
Very nice woman she really cares about her students. Her slides basically show you what to study from the textbook, if you study her slides alone you may not pass. midterms are all multiple choice.
In the business department, it doesn't get much better than Christine. Best prof I've had so far.
The most amazing prof for business 1000. She would only test on what she teaches including her examples. She has a great sense of humour and has tons of examples for each topic she teaches. Her classes are super engaging. You won't get a better professor for business 1000.
The best prof I had at MUN so far! She wants her students to do well and makes sure everyone understands the topics before moving on. She keeps class entertaining and I actually enjoy going! Attending her lectures are essential as she adds and takes away stuff from the slideshows. She's a great prof!
Talks a language that you understand instead of trying to sound smart all the time. Really down to earth and hilarious. Even though what she's talking about may be slightly dull at times, she makes it interesting!
Very nice woman. Easy course and she works to make it even easier!
Prof. Clouston was one of my favourite professors I've had a MUN so far. She is a tough shell sometimes, but cares about her students and is really interesting if you talk to her. Don't rely on the book! Go to class, majority of her exams questions are from things she mentions in class and she is very clear on what is on the exams.
We had two midterms and a non-cumulative final (all multiple choice). She tests heavily on lectures, so you need to go to class. Our classes were 75 mins, and she often let us go 15 mins early! She's a great prof, but her tests weren't the easiest in my opinion.
Christine was a great prof for this course! You didn't hear much from her online, but her slides pointed out important topics to study for tests. We had two midterms in class (multiple choice). Our final would have been the same but changed due to COVID-19. Turned into an online long answer question assignment.
Great prof, she comes off as extremely personable even though all of our lectures are online. CON: I would say that her midterms are probably not very straightforward for 30% of the questions. Some of them can be subjective, e.g., do you think A, B, C or D marketing scheme would apply well for this company. Those are better as SA questions.
I took Christine's BUSI1000 class online. Her lectures are very good and you can tell she has lots of experience. Her exams are not exactly easy, you need to watch the lectures, read the slideshows and the textbook because a lot of the multiple choice are very minor information. There were only 3 assessments in the course, so every exam mattered.
Clouston has taught Business for 10 years, she's a classic first year instructor, despite teaching higher level courses. She has a seemingly tough personality (I am taking her class during the Covid pandemic so I have not met her in person) but has a very clear way of teaching.
I had Christine for Business 1000 over the spring semester (Kickstart). Overall she was a good prof and was thorough in her lectures. The content wasn't hard but you must read the text and the slides to keep up. Exams were fair but had a few tricky questions.
She seems alright. She uploads slideshows and some lectures of her teaching them and replies to emails. Her tests are wicked hard. I tried studying all the details. First midterm was ok. Second was wicked tough. Couldn't find half the answers. Heard the same from others. They teach it like it's easy but the tests are very hard for first year course
not the best and not the worst. she does maximum 1 hr YouTube vids(if you combine all the vids she upload per week) and the course is quite easy but then the exam is legit ALL Scenarios.... test term 1 was pretty easy but term test 2... I barley passed so good luck! with finding a prof ig
I had Christine (online) winter 2020 during the beginning of COVID. Both midterms were in person and they were definitely fair. Final was online and all long answer but extremely easy (got a 95). She hilarious in person and put in a good amount of effort for an online course but make sure if you email her theyre written formally!
Oh my goodness! 85% on the first midterm, but 55% on the second! However, she did make a point to mention that the second midterm was too hard and vowed to make the final easier. So at least she isn't intentionally trying to fail us. That midterm was worth 25% though. Every assessment is so heavily weighted so gOoD LuCk
I'm currently taking her BUSI 1000 course online and it's my favorite course this semester! She's very understanding, easy to reach and cares for her students. She's very straight forward with the material making is easier to learn. It's a heavy study course as it's only 2 midterms and a final but if you're interested in the material it's not bad!
Christine makes BUSI2010 super easy. I hate writing but I enjoyed writing with Christine as my professor. All assignments are very straightforward and she gives great feedback! Very accommodating with being online as well (made our last speech optional). Also had her for BUSI1000 and loved her then too. Would truly recommend Christine!
Christine is a great prof, really easy to reach out to, quick to respond. She wants her students to do well. Course has 2 midterms, and a non-cumulative final, which is awesome. As long as you keep up on the reading, make notes, and listen to the straight forward lectures that are pre-recorded, you'll get a high grade.
First time having her as a prof. I am not a first year student, just recently switched paths into Business. The testing is absolutely horrible, questions regarding concepts and terms that were not in the assigned testing chapters. Tested on chapters we were not required to know, duplicate questions and very similar questions repeatedly. AVOID!!!
No matter how much you read the materials you won't get an A. Everyone in her class receives similar grades, she announces the class average for the last couple of years.
DO NOT TAKE. I was told this was an easy A course. However, this Prof really made a rather easy course much more difficult. Her tests and exams had out of context material. And she puts in minimum efforts for her students. It was like self studying the whole course. Not at all accomodating. I'd really avoid her
I took this online business class to see if I would be into doing Business; after watching the pre-recorded lectures I realized they were from a year ago when we had first gone into lockdowna lot of reading and memorizing. Personally felt as though the videos didn't line up with the mid-terms and exam. Not enough info provided for questions asked.
For a 2000 level course, she askes highly of her students writing. Extremely hard marker and discouraging with her feedback when a paper is not up to her standards.
Christine had lectures uploaded regularly and her extensive experience relating to the topics in the curriculum allowed her to share stories to relate the materials to real life. I will say that reviewing the slides and lectures is not enough to do well. Reading the textbook is crucial in receiving a good grade.
Literally ruined the learning process for everyone in class, none of us wanted to touch the book after she set up 40 calculation questions in 60 mins midterm with class average being 53. And in addition shes the meanest unprofessional prof Ive met in my university career. Uploads exam 30 mins late and blames you if you miss it. never again!
Christine did a great job getting the concepts of 4500 across. Watch the lecture videos and do the practice problems in the book that are suggested, you'll be all good for the multiple choice exams. She's a great prof and I'd recommend her for the course!
Hard tests but great lectures.
Do NOT take this course with Christine! 4500 is a difficult course that requires you to put in the time, she doesn't set you up to succeed. You don't get nearly enough time to finish the midterms, allowed only 2 blank sheets to do formulas for the final, why? The answer is that she's out of touch and doesn't care about her students. AVOID HER CLASS
Exams are difficult and they usually have a class average in the 50s. Also, the final exam is set up so that you cant go back/skip questions (for online students).
Two 70-question mid-terms and one final 100-question test. Overall straightforward class, watch lectures and take notes and you will get a fine grade. Textbook is probably not necessary, but may help. Would take again.
Makes a course that should be easy much more difficult then needed. 3 tests with ridiculously vague multiple choice.
Not great not horrible, course material is not difficult as long as you watch her lectures and write down the slides she reads off. Tests are not difficult for an online course. If you put in any effort at all you should get a good grade.
Great prof, definitely would take her again. Dont test too hard, watch her lectures and youll pass.
Professor Clouston, made her class understand what business is truly about, outside of the text book. She not only covers the textbook information to a tee, but she makes you truly understand the skills you need out in the real world of business. If you're choosing a professor and she is an option, always choose her.
38 questions in 75 minutes and thats too finance questions which requires calculation? not a caring prof! Extremely difficult questions.. dont take finance course with her! Her exam criteria is very bad! Exam questions are so difficult and different than the questions she gave to practise!
Great prof, would 10/10 recommend. she is a great teacher and always available for clarity.
Hard quizzes and exams . Exam's questions need extra times to solve than the exam's time. she tricks you by giving easy question in daily classes and hard questions in exams. do not ever take this course with her.
Not great when had to take online.
She is a good prof, but her exams are difficult. I felt like her exam questions were very different from the lecture/practice questions. You really have to understand the chapters to do well in the course
This was more of a self-taught course but I did not mind, she posted slideshows, videos and some notes in her announcements as well. She claims the textbook is needed but I did not get it and still finished with a 80. As long as you take advantage of everything she posts on D2L, you will do great. Layout is 2 midterms and a final.
Math course, but she did host multiple extra help classes outside of class time. Textbook & finance calculator is mandatory. Only way to pass is to attend the lectures. Notes are hand wrote, no slideshows or videos. No homework, no group work! Clouston is clear about what is on her exams. A quiz, 2 midterms and final, all MC with a formula sheet.
This course is designed to evaluate how quickly you can read and respond to questions, however the professors did a fantastic job of recording lecture videos, and I definitely understood the material. Since you only have one minute to read and respond to each question, I don't suggest taking this course if English isn't your first language.
Dr. Clouston was great! She made material easy to understand by connecting them to real life scenarios. Definitely would recommend to anyone that likes actively participating in learning. She's confident and knows her stuff!
Honestly speaking, this professor is not good at all. She does not give any clear instruction. There is no contact info of her anywhere. She is kind of an arrogant person as she always tries to show off and tell how rich is her family and she is while no one needs to know these things on the you-tube lectures. Because, why would we care right?
one of the best profs at mun. she gives real-world examples to help explain the topic. the midterms and finals are easy to pass if you know what you are doing. make sure you can type or write half fast though make sure you go to class because she writes stuff that isn't on the slideshow that will be on the exam/ midterm. she makes class enjoyable
Christine is hilarious and engaging. She gives excellent examples to help better understand the concepts and is easily accessible outside of class. Attendance, however, is necessary as she will speak about things in class that will be tested but won't post online. Textbook isn't mandatory but definitely helpful. Would for sure take again!
I loved prof Clouston. her lectures were very interesting and she related to the real-life story of her family and her commercial banking background which made things a lot more clear. she doesn't really post anything online so def go to class you'll have fun so it should make you want to go. there are 2 midterms and 1 final. they're online MC (ez)
Prof. Clouston has clear expectations, pay attention to what she requires in each assignment and you will do well! She was very fair in her grading and provided great feedback, so you knew how you could improve for the next assignment. The course is very self-directed! Be prepared, this is a paper heavy course and writing skills are everything!!
Professor Clouston is a great person, funny, and easy to get along with. However, she makes her midterms and final exams rather hard, although they are open book it doesn't help much. Be sure to attend her lectures, she tests heavily on what she says and believes.
I loved Dr Coulston. She is super upfront and honest. There were only 2 midterms and a final so you really have to focus on those as they're weighted heavily and are the only evaluations. Dr Coulston is very engaged and makes some of the drier topics interesting.
no feedback
Christine is a decent prof. Not much work to do besides watching pre-recorded lectures. There are 2 Midterms and 1 Final, other than that there is no other graded material. the course is relatively easy and she does respond to student emails quickly.
Very tough grading system, must get textbook.
Good prof, you should definitely attend the lectures as she tests on questions based on her notes and what she talks about in class. It only has 2 midterms and an exam, all online, but don't take that lightly as they require to study the material and are not straightforward questions.
Two midterms and one final exam all online. You need to read the presentations and textbook to understand the content. She talks about what will be in the exam question if you come to class.. Easy going professor
She is pretty good. The course is 2 mid terms (25% each) and a final worth 50%. Most of the questions on the exams is stuff she talks about in class that are not on the slideshow.
Detailed feedback and cares about you Lectures could be a little dry
Very easy going prof. Get ready to read the slideshow and textbook. she talk more on things that will come out in exam.
Professor Clouston was fantastic! This was my first time having her as a prof, & though I heard horror stories about Corporate Financial Management, she did a wonderful job in explaining course concepts and ensuring everyone who attended class knew how to thrive in this course. I would highly recommend her as a prof, she's a doll!(very stylish too)
used very relatable examples in whatever topic we were discussing, with most being tied to St. John's or Newfoundland in some way. very knowledgeable when it comes to the course content, and attending class is a must as she drops lots of hints for what would be on the exams. overall a great prof, no complaints.
some questions in the exam were vague, she is arrogant. More feedback and friendliness would make this course more enjoyable.
I took Christine's lecture classes. She is good at explaining the topics. She is very open, straight forward and bold. I would taker her classes again. She does what she says. I also studied over 20 hours a week. Highly recommend her 10/10. and definitely read the book/chapters over at least 3 times to do your best in the course.
Dr. Clouston is amazing! She makes material easy to understand and demonstrates concepts in class. I love her style of teaching and I would highly recommend her.
The quiz and midterms were fair and a good representation of what she was looking for and what to expect. The final was a curveball and it brought my final mark down 10%. Going into the final with an A+, I was quite surprised with the grade I received and the exam itself. Funny and a good lecturer though.
Dr Clouston is a great prof. I have had her before and she is an interesting lecturer. For a writing course, the grading was very hard. The first assignment was a write of because the grading scheme and instructions where unclear. After that however, as long as you take her feedback and apply it you will do well
Everyone was online. Lots of mcqs in the exam though.
Best prof I've had so far. Probably one of the best at MUN. Would strongly recommend her. Interesting and relates lectures to real-life situations and gets students engaged. Absolutely no complaints.
Professor Clouston is an awesome lecturer, and her financial management course was very informative. I enjoyed her class.
Professor Clouston is one of the best profs I've had at MUN. Her expectations are clear and there are no surprises on her tests. There is one quiz, two midterms and a final that are all multiple choice. If you go to her lectures and study what she teaches in class, you will do well on the exams. I really enjoyed her class.
Christine is pretty clueless when it comes to business writing. She doesn't follow her own "guidelines of effective business writing" in her emails. Very hard and inconsistent grader. Please just stick to Business 1000.
its better to take 2010 online if you hate presentation and group work because the inperson class (Andrew Kim) is literally all that. 3 assignments, 1 midterm. prior to midterm, i thought it was dumb she was testing us because if you look through the text, theres really nothing to test on. It was just a grammar test and very easy. Easy class.
Professor does not seem to go through with the materials that comes in the final examination. 2 tests in class were similar but the final exam question was awful. It did not match with the material of the books. Will never take her class anymore
She's a tough grader and she seems to decrease points even for small bits. There are a couple of assignments in the course, with a final paper. She's not bad, just not the best. I would take Busi Writing with another professor.
The structure of the course is outdated lectures, irrelevant exam content, lengthy MCQ, lack of preparatory support. The focus seems to be on making passing the course exceptionally difficult. This approach undermines the educational process and fails to respect the students' investment of time, effort, and money. ONLINE BUT OFLINE EXAMS.
She was excellent very informative and responsive to concerns or if I needed help . I would definitely take a course taught by her again 10/10
The final exam was composed of material that was not taught in the course. The video lectures are a series of 5 minute clips on youtube, which you need to keep going to back to the course page to access.
Professor Clouston is a clear and engaging lecturer. While the final exam can be challenging, going to class and using study aids like unstuck ai can help. Overall, an informative and worthwhile course.
Compared to the other choice for BUSI 1000, she was fantastic. Without comparison, she is a good professor. You need to read your textbook and the slides (in her pre-recorded lectures she skips over some of them). Has no relationship with students outside of the D2L learning space. All assessments are multiple choice, just find practice ones online
I would not recommend this professor as for, the course is graded on 2 Mid-terms and a Final, there are no practice or examples used throughout the course which makes it extremely difficult to know how to study for this course, I found she also did not give enough information to be able to answer questions on the exams properly. I would avoid.
Prof. Clouston's class was very enjoyable. The only complaint would be how there are only 3 assessments worth 30%,30% and 40%(final). It is quite easy to hold a high average if you attend class, as she always cuts out slides and says directly what she will and will not be testing. If you are looking for a class with little effort needed, this is it
This is the 3rd course I have taken with Christine and I throughly enjoy her lectures. She does not beat around the bush and is straight to the point. There are not many evaluations so you really need to make them count. She hand writes all the notes, there is no powerpoint. Overall, her lectures are engaging but reading the textbook is vital.
She's not the worst but she's not good. She is extremely strict in this course, and can be a tough grader, especially in the beginning when you don't know what she wants. She grades on attendance. She is not very helpful in class or outside of class and not good at answering emails. She is also very boring. She means well though.
One of my favourite profs. Classes were laid back and chill, work load was light and she was an easy grader. I recommend taking her, at least for business writing.
Professor Clouston hosted great lectures that were very short, but she taught you what you needed to know and nothing more. She gave you lots of practice and introduced a new way of writing that was tough to adapt to. You will get a bad grade if you do not write how she likes.
Very strict in grading making it hard to pass
Her classes are pretty easy to take notes in and almost always end early. The exams all multiple choice and mostly scenario based. First exam class average was 60 and second was around the same. Would try and go for a better prof if you can if not be ready to put in the work
The course is business writing - to teach students how to write clear and proper business papers. But the instructions are itself not written properly in the course. Grades were deducted for each assignment for the details and facts which were never mentioned anywhere in the course. How is a student supposed to know without letting them know.
Great lecturer. Extremely tough grader. Thought I adhered to the instructions really well, but apparently not to her. Not much to say other than that, really.
Christine's lectures were great and she really taught the material well. She tests on what she talks about so attend classes. Exams weren't too difficult, just a lot of questions. For negatives there was nothing more than lectures. Not a worksheet, assignment, nothing. You study the material and write exams.Look into other profs before choosing her
Christine is an alright prof. Class is graded based on how she wants you to write, so follow what she does in class. Mandatory attendance as well as she gives out 10% for participation at the end of semester. Not a hard course load but do what she says and you will be fine.
Christine is an incredible professor. She makes her lectures interesting and is quite funny. Her tests are based on what she says in class. The exams are all multiple choice and make up the full grade. I would take her for every class if I could.
She is a good professor, and her lectures were interesting. The exams are based on what she teaches during her lectures, so participation is important. However, she grades by only three tests so the grading is limited to that. As long as you attend lectures and study at home, you should do fine.
Great professor! Tests on what she teaches and great feedback is provided. Easily accessible outside of class and is very caring and helping towards her students. Highly recommend!
