She us the most prepared teacher I have ever taken, seriously. The first day of class she says, "I am going to be making a seating chart." I nearly fell out of my chair, I did not like the idea; however, she is great. She is the most detailed professor I have ever had and she tells you what you need to know well in advance and posts her notes. A+

The class was easy. She is very responsive with her emails and the grading of tests/quizes. She's very nice. I like her sense of humor (though I was usually the only one laughing). There is a ton of material to cover, so the class moves very quickly. The bad: Her lectures would put me to sleep b/c she writes EVERY WORD she says on the projector..

Mrs. Curtis is the most prepared, naturally gifted instructor I've had at HCC and possibly ever. She will always go the extra mile to make sure her students understand the material. She covers a lot of material but is very fair in her expectations. I would recommend her to anyone taking Statistics I, College Algebra or Business Calculus. A++++

She was an awesome teacher. She teaches in a way that even the worst person at math could understand if you pay attention. She gives plenty of opportuity to make and A. I enjoy math to a certain degree but Stats was very tedious. I did'nt enjoy the excessive quizzes and the test were difficult. Her teaching style is for those who have a hard time understanding math, nice professor she does not work with "TARDY" which was fine by me because I turned my homework in on time and was not late to class.

Stats is very tedious. Professor Curtis made it much easier. Lots of opportunity for extra credit, very fair grading policy and explains everything VERY WELL! Be on time, do your homework, ask questions and you will do fine! Would take her again if I needed another Math/Stats class.

I took the night class once a week. She is extremely helpful if you ask for help. Responds to emails on the same day and explains problems thoroughly. Opportunity for extra credit. A quiz almost every week, 3 tests, Hard project, and a cumulative final (multiple choice and 3 short answers). I studied my butt off and passed with a B.

She make the Statistics class so easy and clear, an excel project that look so hard(I didn't have a clue on excel) she guide me throughout the project I got 103. Do your homework and ask her for help, take the advantage she love to teach and doesn't mind to help and you will get an A.

Curtis is a good teacher her teaching style breaks everything down, So you end up understanding it all. the hw she assigns is managable. but she does not do well with asking questions. I asked a question, and she shshed me and kept going, and this was a relevant question I might add. Having to do with the unit we were going over. she ignored me.

her sarcasm & corny jokes may get a little annoying but shes overall a good teacher, she makes sure you fully understand the material, and the tests are easier than the review and most of the homework, making them an easy high B or A !

Easy A class. I never went to class since attendance doesn't affect the grade. All u have to do is watch her lecture videos and submit quizes. You can submit quiz via e-mail. I never went to class except for test days. Really easy.

I would recommend this professor to anyone taking a math course on the Dale Mabry campus. She was the best math related instructor I have ever had at any HCC campus. She was very detailed with everything and offered extra credit.

Miss. Curtis is a very experienced math teacher, she explains everything perfectly. Students can buy a notes package for only $4, and trust me, it will be the best $4 spent of your life!! I took her for both Bus. Calc & Stats last semester & I couldn't imagine passing calc without her. It was tough but her clarity with the subject and helpfulness were awesome. Stats was an easy subject, hybrid class, exam optional, extra credit for attending. Calc was tough, a lot of work but necessary, extra credit for attending. Def recommend.

i have to disagree with the recent reviews. Yes, she makes her own notes packets, but they go with the sections of the book. No, we don't have to buy a book, but it's in MyStatLab. She puts her grading scale in her syllabus and updates the grades regularly on Blackboard. I worked hard, but did well - I thought she was great!

Awesome teacher! I've never been good at math, but her class just made sense. She had a great way of explaining things that made even the hardest concepts easy! I would gladly take her again, if I needed more math classes.

Put in about 7 hours a week at home, but class only meets once a week. Make sure to watch the videos and do the homework. She'd go over the stuff from the videos during class. I found class really important to help everything make sense. She was always there whenever I came for help as well.

Prof. Curtis is a great teacher. She tries to keep class interesting. Her notes are helpful and if you email her with enough notice she will always get back to you. My only problem was that the exam reviews were always easier than the actual exam.

Excellent teacher! The note packet she developed for the hybrid course is helpful. It contains links to verbal explanations and solutions. Her reviews prepare you for each type of problem you need to solve on the tests. Drops lowest grades. Takes attendance each class. Don't be late. Great instructor! I learned so much. I really enjoyed her class!

Professor Curtis was very detailed with her lectures, but if you do not give this class 110% outside of the classroom ie. practice, practice, practice, you will fail. Unless you're just a natural when it comes to math. She was very helpful and responded to every email in a timely fashion, she does give her own notes (note packet). No book needed.

Excellent teacher. i understood everything she explained in class. test reviews are the same as the exams, just different numbers, But same exact wording, i mean word by word !!. As if she gives you the exam as a take home, if you can solve the review, you will pass 100%. So if you really failed her class then really something is wrong with you....

Beyond excellent, she doesn't speak to you in mathematics but in plain English. She provides plenty of simplified easy to understand notes/ sheets. She writes neatly and at a good pace and she is very helpful : office, after class and online. she even makes videos and shows you tricks. Hurry up her class is filling up as you read this!!!!

Mrs. Curtis is by far one of the best math professors out there. Here lectures are clear and to the point, if you have questions and attend her office hours, she will always be there to answer them. Even if you are not good at math classes she makes them understandable. I would definitely take her classes again.

She is very easy to communicate with. class work goes right along with homework and tests. Gives review of what will be on test and tells you what the test is made up of with how many questions from each section. Really nice and is always willing to help qith any problems or questions you have.

Mrs. Curtis is an excellent professor! She will push you to do your best! The lectures are clear but intense due to volume of material to over. Going into this class I was terrified of calculus and now I feel like I could do it in my sleep. She gives test reviews which almost duplicate the test, making it incredibly easy to get an A. Not only with you pass, but you will truly understand the material. Lectures can even be enjoyable with her math humor. Absolute BEST math professor at HCC.

She was an amazing professor. She taught clearly and really helped me understand the work. Her packet you buy in the book store for like 2-3$ is so very helpful. Test, THQ and notes all go with each other which makes the class easy to follow. Don't think attendance is mandatory but i suggest it. I've only missed one class and I got an A.

I have never done well in any math class. Professor Curtis is always organized and even has lecture videos and answer keys online to help you if you miss class. If you put in the effort to learn the material, you will do well. Everything you need is laid out for you in canvas. She is also delightfully sarcastic.

This teacher is awesome and the most thorough one I've had. Everything is clearly explained on the syllabus. She makes everything very clear and provides you with all the information you need to pass tests, quizzes and do your project. Make sure to keep up with HW and quizzes (take home) that are due weekly and pass your tests and you'll get an A.

Shes a gem. I suck at math and she made it sound sensible. She gives you a booklet for fill in the blank notes to follow along with her lectures. Do your homework. she teaches you the easier way around the problems. Go to her during her office hours because the tutors will confuse you since they dont understand how she thinks. You wont regret it.

Ms. Curtis was always clear explaining her subject. She made it so easy to understand statistics. If you ever missed the class, there would be all the material online to catch up with others. You can watch the lectures again and again. Also, if you have an A in class after taking the last test - you don't need to take the final. Yay!

I think Professor Curtis is a GREAT teacher BUT with that being said she is test heavy which accounts for over half of your grade. So if you are good at Test go right ahead. She is the professor for you.

Prof Curtis is my favorite math teacher by far! She is extremely organized and explains each chapter very well. I hadnt taken a math class in 13 years so I was nervous to take this class. She did a great job at breaking everything down and teaching at a good pace. If you want an A then go to class and do all of the homework and test reviews.

The subject is not that easy. Don't skip classes, she gives assignments after each lecture. She's an expert on what she does. She's been teaching this subject for 10 years. Super recomended.

If you make a 75 and a above on all of the tests you are exempt from the final. Attendance is considered extra credit. Loved stats with her.

Professor Curtis' style of teaching is refreshing, I wish I had professors like her for Algebra. She video records her lectures and posts them so you can re-listen as often as needed, which is extremely helpful when doing homework and studying for quizzes. Participation matters! Great Professor.

Prof. Curtis is a wonderful teacher! She has a very dry sense of humor and tells you this on the first day. She does partial credit on test for trying. Homework is due every Sunday. Her notes packet from the bookstore is a god send!!! I worked hard for the B that I received but I feel like without her I would have done much worse. Don't skip class!

Professor Curtis made learning statistics a breeze. She is very clear and concise in her lectures, and if you miss class, she has video lectures on each section. I took AP Stat in high school and didn't do so hot, so I was hesitant to take STA2023, but she gave me a great experience. There is quite a bit of homework, but its worth it. TAKE HER!

Best Professor I took for math. 3 or 2 Assignments every week and a quiz every sunday. Just study very hard and watch all her lectures and you will be good. I recommend her a lot!

This is my second time taking professor Curtis after MAC 1105, she provides very good lectures that will help along with the hw. 2 homework assigments and 1 quiz every week. There are three test worth almost 70% of your grade and a final exam but she gives good reviews. She always says "if you have any questions contact me". BEST PROFESSOR

I promised I would do this, so here it is. Prof. Curtis might actually have been the best teacher I've ever had. I had to go to the bathroom during a proctored exam, and she let me re-take it instead of invalidating my exam cuz I had a stomach ache. She took time out of her day to do it. She most of the time will legit take 30 minutes to respond.

I was scared to take statistics because I am not good at math, however professor Curtis was great! She explained everything, her main priority was not just getting through her lesson it was making sure we understood what she teaching. She was always accessible for questions and gave great feedback for the test. She also gives GREAT test reviews.

Professor Curtis is an amazing instructor to have and she's one of the few out there that actually want you to do well. All the assignments (Mainly Homework) are through mylab and stat crunch. Overall she's an amazing instructor and very trustworthy, i failed stats last year but she helped me overcome my fear and i passed with an A!

I took Professor Curtis for Business Calc and then took her again for Stats (STA 2023). Show up to class, do the test reviews. The tests are very similar to the reviews, she explains all concepts in class, and she is very quick to answer emails/questions. Buy the note packets, they will help you.

I took her for cal and now elem stats and wow, she is amazing. Her lecture is easy to follow and if you do miss class she has the lecture filled out through Microsoft and videos for help. After failing statistics with another prof. at this college, I took Dr. Curtis and all made sense. Her lectures are very clear, similar to the Khan Academy style. Anytime I had a question, I had a quick response. It was hard work, but it was well taught and fairly tested (no surprise questions).

Mrs. Curtis is an awesome professor. She is very particular on what calculator is allowed for the exams and subtract points for any errors in your working when solving for the answer lol. However her lectures are very good. She also have online lecture for visual learners or to refresh your memory. Highly recommend Mrs. Curtis!!

I was super nervous going into this class and was a little intimidated by the weighting of the tests. However, Professor Curtis lectures so well and is available for one-on-one communication. I truly admire Professor Curtis for the way she teaches. On exams, each question differs slightly from the one before and after it. There are no filler questions, each one is intentionally designed to demonstrate a different skill. She cares that you understand the fundamentals of mathematics. No trick questions ever. Professor Curtis is a great math teacher because she does a good job at explaining it in a way that people who don't understand math get. She also offers easy extra credit for every exam and the final which is extremely helpful. She gives good feedback on exams and was very helpful during her office hours. Professor Curtis made me understand math the way I'd never thought I would. She is pretty straightforward and always happy to answer anyway questions you may have. Avoid missing class for the do now's. Tests are extremely important but study the reviews she gives you because it is the exact same and do the homework and you will pass easily.

Loved this professor! She was funny and kind. She explained everything very well and clearly, would for SURE take her again. I'm not a super big math person so it was difficult and the homework could be frustrating, but overall she was great! I never would have made it through business calc with any other professor. I'm TERRIBLE at math but Prof Curtis explained everything so clearly- I was genuinely surprised how easy she made it for me to learn. She's a very generous grader as well, I definitely needed all those partial credit points she gives on tests if she sees where you went wrong

You'll pass as long as you do all the homework and quizzes. I missed a few easy quiz grades but if you're a very proactive student or you have reminders, you have a pretty high chance of getting a better grade than I did. FINAL IS OPTIONAL but if you take it, it'll replace your lowest test grade. I was sitting at a low B so it couldn't boost me up.
