fregging hard midterm... killed us all
Obviously very knowledgeable. A good lecturer but she has too many slides per class that can be hard to keep up to. Midterm was hard, plus scheduled the day after thanksgiving weekend - harsh!
Great prof! I actually enjoyed going to lecture. The tutorials however were a waste of time
She's really helpful when you ask her questions after class. She reviews what was learned the previous day and she's really cheerful! She's really pretty!!

Mid-term was so much harder than the practice mid-term! Very misleading!
Very hard mid-term, really low class average. She wasn't impressed.
Makes going to school easy. She's hot and teaches well. Lectures with confidence. Very organized. Overall, strongly recommended.
Midterm was very very hard. She reads straight from the lecture notes which make a very boring lecture. I don't learn a thing from her. She seems nice, and willing to help, but its hard to do well withough putting a ton of work into the course.
She is the worst prof ever. She is soooooooooo....ooooo....oooooo boring. She also needs to make her exams easier.
She makes the classes really interesting, and she's easy on the eyes. The material is hard, but I've never taken a high school bio course.
She makes her midterm and final way too hard for her quality of teaching. She just reads off lecture notes and does not make the class worthwhile to attend.
Her midterm/final were WAY to tricy to do well on. The material presented in class vs. what was on the final wasnt at all what it should have been. Many questions had to be properly "interpreted". Do well in the tutorial;beyond that your mark is
The mid-terms were very tough but fair. Dr. Dupont goes the extra mile for her students. She is very aproachable and is willing spend time explaining any areas of difficulty.
Her lectures are not that helpfull and I found the exam hard. Keep up with the reading!!
Where to start!! IMPOSSIBLE midterm and final, which way beyond the scope of her teachings, reads everything of the slides, and the clairty stopped after punnett squares.
The midterm was STUPID!! the final was much easier. She just stands at the podium and reads her notes, so dont go to lectures, waste of time (you can read them urself..lol) CAN YOU SAY ****!!!!!

Lectures a bit boring and slides can take some improvement. Very knowledgable and extremely nice prof if you find help outside class.
she was pretty clear in her teaching, easy to understand, but it wasn't always that interesting. she seems like one of those teachers who doesn't want people to get good marks in her class though, the tests were pretty hard and no bell curving.
Slides are boring, there is room for improvement - clarity, more approachable...U may be well off if u read thru the notes
Decent prof. Unlike my Engineering profs, she at least speaks English. She does get a little X-rated with some of the things that she say in the lecture though
She is tough but fair. She shows a genuine interest in the courses, and has fantastic teaching skills. Often adds in interesting extra tidbits as wellOne of the only courses where I find the time flies, and every explaination sticks. However the midterm was too long. My hands were shaking at the end
She's awesome as a prof, probably one of the best biol prof in Waterloo. Very approachable and willing to help if you go to her. Midterm and finals were tough, but fair. Dresses very well! =)
She's tough, but she explains things very clearly. Too bad it was an 8:30 class... One thing that pissed me off was putting a mandatory tutorial on a fri when we had the thurs off for canada day. Didn't matter to her - she didn't have to be there!
Take courses with this prof, you will get the most of the money you invest in education. She is very clear, understanding and most of all a genuine professor. She is extremly familiar with variety of cellular, molecular, genetic, microorganisms and as well as virology concepts. Take classes with her!
she's a pretty good prof. a little confusing at times, but she knows what shes talking about.
she is very cold hearted. Her slides are copy and pastes form the textbook. She basically recites the textbook. She knows what she's talking about but its mostly just memorization. If there is any other prof teaching I would try them out first before I went to her class.
she's a horrible prof. doesn't care much about students. reads notes word for word which are all copies of text. be prepared to fall asleep in class
she dresses nice, but she's really boring. Her lecture notes are useless and you're better off just studing from the text since all her lecture notes are just duplicates of them. She knows her stuff but bad teacher. makes genetics such a boring class even though it shouldn't be!!
WTF are you people talking about. Your in university, stop complaining. She streams the text book, like profs should do. She makes it easy to learn that way. Great teacher, very intelligent. If you cant handle her notes (and belive me, hers are one of the best) drop outta university and goto college

Extensive notes that are often written in a confusing point form manner and extremely difficult final exam! Work hard throughout the term or you will be sorry.

She is somewhat fair but can be pretty ****y at times. She seems knowledgeable and intelligent but her notes are unorganized and all over the place. Overall though, she is alright, you just have to REALLY put in the effort, esp. using the text since relying on her notes won't get you very far.
She's better than some are saying. I enjoy her lectures. She gives interesting examples, has some good jokes now and then and answers questions thoroughly. I don't like the note-taking arrangement; it's hard to know if I'm writing down everything I'll need. Some kind of outline would be nice.
That class was absolute hell, she made no sense. You're better off not printing off any notes and just making your own seeing as she has no organization skills and it's random points of information all over the place.
The class is not very exciting but she is a good prof and can definately help if you have questions. The only reason why it might be hard is because is it very dry. The best thing to do is follow up on the notes by reading your text. Some concepts may be difficult but in the end its all good.
worst class ever.... but she is alright
She's rude in person, she does not explain very well in lectures, she's monotonous, writes an unfair midterm, other than that she's great!!! Stopped attending class after the midterm, and I learned more that way. Go figure.
I was extremely excited about genetics in the beginning, but Dupont definitely put out that fire inside me. Her monotone, repetitive slideshows that duplicate diagrams from the text, and the dimmed lighting all contributed to my sleeping in every single one of her classes. Also rude to students!
her voice is soo soothing and monotonous..makes u sleepy in class. but for those lectures that i was awake for, it was pretty interesting. Overall, she's very knowledgable, has excellent examples and her notes are ok. make sure u read the text to fully understand the concepts.. or u'll die.

Dupont is a horrible person. You can't approach her outside of class because she will bite your head off. I told her I couldn't write the midterm because I had to go to my aunts funeral, but she told me I had to write it - regardless of any family issues. Can you say evil any louder? Also, the tutorials for the class are stupid.
she made the class so uninteresting! and i think the marks in the class reflected how boring she was!! with the soft monotone voice and the dim lights, you're bound to fall asleep! good luck learning anything in her class!
I have never spoken to anyone that thought this woman was a good professor. She is arrogant. She is monotone. She will not anser questions before, durring or after class. Her notes are OK but she delivers them poorly. A few times in the class she made me wonder if she actually knew the material. If ATALL possible, take no courses with her. SHES BAD
Despite many students complaining about her, I still think she's a good prof; not excellent, but good. The material in genetics is difficult, which makes this a difficult course. However, it is not hard to get good marks in this class as long as you study and attend all the lectures.
genetics sucks! the material taught in class wasnt difficult to grasp, but the midterm and final was very difficult!
Rude, arrogant, nasty "teacher". Comtemptuous to her students, whom she speaks down to and abuses regularly. Classes are boring, dribbling monotone. SHE'S EVIL!!!!
Not only is she a terrible prof, she is a terrible person. Dont bother going to extra help. She makes you feel like a little turd. Her lectures are borring and monotone. If possible take genetics with someone else......
She is not the prof that high achieving students would consider amazing and boast about, and that is why there is not a huge amount of compliments here. she's victimized because a lot of people reject the help she offers and get terrible marks and blame her. She is very close to perfect as a prof and I think that scares some students.
8:30s are bad; she should know better. She is more interesting than other profs, but not that good. Extremely helpful outside class, as long as she hasn't explicitly said she wouldn't with that topic (ie, extensions). Tutorials actually force you to learn the stuff, and boost mark. She will pull tricks on exams.
i thought genetics was going to be really fun and interesting. But she ruined all that. Her classes were boring and she didn't seem to go indepth in anything she talked about. Her classes were more useful for catching up sleep than anything else.
yo this prof needs a freaking loudspeaker...thers no way to understand what shes sayin! i mean no wonder i fell asleep in EVERY SINGLE lecture! no point goin to her class ..i just went cz of this hot chick my class haha
I don't know what these idiots are taling about. She is the best prof ever. Go figure, it's waterloo- nothing but dummies anyways. What a nice a$$ too!
Neither she nor her students know what she is trying to teach. highly boring lectures. should give free coffee. No wonder if u don't learn anything from her class, cuz nobody does. We realy need better prof!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hard and unknowledgeable prof, but she is damn HOT! Her hotness was the only thing that kept me awake in this class. Definitely have 1 on 1 meetings with her. Bio 139 is boorrring as hell, and difficult. Don't expect to get a good mark. Midterm avg is around 54%. Go figure this out!
She is such a faker.. on the outside she seems nice and helpful..and she will smile..but she will sCREW you on the final if your class average is good..everyone's marks fell a good 10-20%. if you ever go to ask questions or get an exam checked over she will hate you... she is not understanding at all! Probably worst prof but at first will seem nice
easy test, but she's a horrible marker... and the midterm was brutal.... but man, is she hot or what?? what a ****!!!!
Horrible.
Very down to earth prof, with lots of good examples to help solidify the concepts she was teaching.

Dr. Dupont is one of the best profs at Waterloo. She's smart and has an open door policy. TAKE HER COURSE!
yeah Dupont rules
Dr. Dupont knows what she's teaching, but doesn't say anything more than what's on the notes. The course isn't interesting, especially when you know that the big bang theory's a hoax.
Great prof. exams arent too bad and they're always fair. keeps the class interesting and knows what shes talking about.
She cares so little about the well being of her students that if a student screamed after the bite of a venomous snake, she would probably give the class a lecture on making noise durring lectures and being considerate.
dont rely heavly on the adobe presentation (teach the material)
A lot of course notes to print out. Prof isn't that great. Hard midterm and hard final. Nice lady, knows her stuff but lecture notes aren't that good.
her tests are tricky. She doesnt seem to care a whole lot about her students. Alot of useless and unnecessary slides which contribute to a gigantic amount of notes. Also, she pretty much reads off her slides; however, the stuff she did every little while on the black board was helpful.
Fell asleep everyclass. Not a necessity to go to every class. Hard midterm. Decent Final. Read the textbook. Notes were not that helpful. Did not teach as much as read off the slides.
Good prof but hard course.
sooo terrible...
Dr. D explains the course very well. Her mandatory tutorials forces you to learn the materials. There is a lot to know so make sure you understand the concepts. Once u can explain it to someone, u know it. She is very approachable and will explain the concept to u again and is not like other profs who are rushing for u to get out of their office.
Hard course! Tests are insanely hard. So study smart and pay attention in class. The only motivation to go to class was that she is one of UW's divas.
Good Prof Hard Course. Midterms and Exams may seem easy but v. tough marking.
Amazing prof. Very approachable, very helpful. Will explain things over and over again. Very easy to approach. Lecture notes were clear and posted ahead of time. Midterm and final was long, so write fast and knowyour stuff. Ignore the text. Only tests on lecture notes. Very good prof.
Good lecturer (language and clarity) She will be nice and willing to help IF: 1. she is in the presence of many students. 2. you are getting high marks. She expects very detailed specific answers. Midterm was very long. Final was extremely long.
Very good prof. Lectures are crystal clear and it's obvious what you need to learn. Tests are extremely specific and are concept-based rather than strict memorization. Don't waste your money on the textbook - is never needed. The tutorials suck too. But overall, the class is pretty straight forward.
She doesn't lecture very well and makes concepts far more complicated than it is. I think she tries to cram a lot of information into a few slides, thats why complications happen. Also, she turns of the lights during lectures, and it makes everyone sleepy. There were a few questions on the exam that wasn't in her lecture notes. so tricky.
she is one of the best prof's i have ever seen. she is knowladgeable and enjoys transfering her knowladge to her students
Midterms and finals are not too hard. Bonus of 1.8% for doing some online activities. Lectures well but endless amount of useless PowerPoint slides and pictures that just waste time. A bit of material found only in the textbook were on the tests.
Easiest prof to understand...she is very eloquent
Awesome prof.
BOOOOOORING like CRazy...man like honestly somebody shoot me in class cuz im gonna die....She needs to change her monotone voice. The subject was easy anyways so whatev....but she likes to beat around the bush in her questions and make everything unclear.... but u know what..she's aight :P
Awesome prof! Gives endless help. Easy to hear and understand. Awesome notes, posted in advance. Will actually talk to you as a person, about school or personal stuff. Fun bonus assignment. Goes over tricky pathways multiple times in class. Best prof EVER!
Great Prof. Posts lectures online (so you dont have to read the book if u miss a class). Very clear in her explanations, and always available outside class. Gives a bonus assignment and tutorials are pretty straightforward. Her marking is pretty harsh though.
Yay for podcasts! She did a good job of explaining everything to death, so if you pay attention there is very little chance of not understanding. Wants you to ask questions and answers them well.
Well organized prof. Gives out lecture podcasts and slides online. Lots of bonus marks to boost your grade.
Amazing Prof. Love the podcasts. Great class
Dr. Dupont is an awesome professor. The lectures are always very interesting and she makes them as clear as possible. The tests are fairly hard, but it's difficult subject matter so that's to be expected. She seems to actually care about her students and wants them to do well. She's very helpful outside of the class as well.
despite the fact she is way more BORING than a cheesy movie, shes a good prof. just needs to get rid of her monotonous voice, perhaps pickup screaming for a habbit lol. good prof though, exams were fair, she just twists the wording alittle.you only need to read the txt if you want a 100% on the course, you can easily get an A with her lecture notes
Awesome prof. Explainations were great
wow was the midterm easy but then she made everybody fail the final so the average was about 60%!!!
Great
In one word, she is just GREAT...you can easily get an A in her class if you just pay attention in class and review the padcasts before the tests.AWESOME PROF:)
Pay attention in class (or skip and watch the podcasts). I didn't and didn't do well on the midterm at all. Worked incredibly hard to eventually get a B in the course.
Prof Dupont is AMAZING. I have had her for 139, 442 & will be taking her 342 in the fall. She is BY FAR the best prof i have ever had. So intelligent and extremely helpful. This course was the toughest course i have ever taken and having her as the prof made it so much better. She is always there when you need her and is a gr8 academic advisor!
Dupont is great! She gives podcasts of the lectures (so going to class isn't mandatory), and her tests are very fair. Textbook is interesting, but not mandatory to read (just helps when you need extra help on a hard topic). There's a tutorial for the course (not hard) and the final is straight forward, no surprises. Great course :)
Great professor. Dont really have to go to class just use her podcast. The tutorial was helpful cause you have to learn the material to understand. Midterm/final was long.. had to write til the very last minute to finish. Also, don't forget ANY steps in pyrosequencing. Even the most obvious step (add the DNA)must be written or you'll lose a mark.
She cares about the students. She never looks bored while teaching. She tries hard to get the key points across. And if that?s not enough she also has the looks to go along with it all (cus she?s a hottie). The midterm is harder than the final. Great overall!
She cares about the students. She never looks bored while teaching. She tries hard to get the key points across. And if that?s not enough she also has the looks to go along with it all (cus she?s a smokin hottie). The midterm is harder than the final. Great overall!
Great prof, probably one of the best bio profs at UW. She's passionate about the material and wants her students to do well. Seems very approachable. The course itself was great. I've heard the course is really hard prior to taking it, but it's not that bad if you put in the effort.
The trick to doing well in this course is the midterm. Only 10% of the class got above an 80%. If you can get above an 80, then the lab and final will compensate. I thought the text book was useful for clarification. Professor Dupont is a good overall but the questions can be tricky. PAY ATTENTION and you'll be fine.
I used to like genetics, not anymore.
Great professor. Challenging midterms and final.
Her exams seem like they're easy when you walk out of it, but then you get your mark and all of a sudden you didn't do as well as you expected. She's a great prof, but she's intense in the way she marks...just have to REALLY know the material and answer in DETAIL
Podcasts are an absolute lifesaver. This course is hard, but really interesting. Tests are fair.
I find her notes are very disorganized. Podcasts are great but I recommend going to class. She's a really good prof but REALLY hard marker. You do so much worse than you think you did on the midterm. She expects WAY too much detail. I don't recommend this course unless you really like the content, otherwise it's very challenging.
To be completely honest, I love Dupont. I do NOT think she's monotone, nor do I think she has bad lecturing technique. She truly knows her stuff, and is passionate about it at the same time. The thing is, her midterms/finals are really intimidating... I have yet to write the final and I'm dying of fright. That's all though. she's great overall! :)
all the people that are hating on her clearly did poorly in her class and didn't even bother to attend her lectures, she is CRYSTAL clear and her lecture notes are relevant material. Whatever comes out of her mouth makes complete sense, she does not go up there and present the memorized material, she actually knows all her stuff.
At the start of the course everyone attends but as the semester goes on less and less people do because of podcasts. I didn't find her to be the best biology prof. The tutorial work is fair. Exam was hard and midterm was easier.
Great professor, explained information really clearly. Interesting course too.
She is a very mediocre prof. She probably knows her stuff, but still spits out formulaic lectures, and purely repeats the notes. Her tests are downright unfair at times. Her class was the only recent BIO course where I could not break an A (and I have gotten A+'s in 300 level BIO courses).
She's very friendly and amusing to listen to during the lectures (though your mileage may vary). On the other hand, her tests are very difficult, as others have said. You need to watch for tricks and sketchy wording.
A very fair and good prof. Had below 80 after the midterm, but ended up with 90 in the end. She provides you with podcasts and bonus marks, so the opportunity to do well is there. Overall a great teacher.
Genetics (now 239). Don't underestimate the course. The content is easy but you really have to KNOW it to do well. Her midterm/final will be difficult mostly due to the wording of her multiple choice. The tutorial is easy marks so put the effort in. She doesn't seem like a bad person, shes just a tough prof.
Not very good
The midterm and final are tricky, content isnt hard, the wording of the questions are, which resulted in the midterm and final both having an average of 58. Read the questions carefully and throughly. Podcasts help when studying, and tutorial helps boost your mark, so put the effort in to the tutorial.
FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS: 1) watch out for her wording; 2) falling behind is not a good idea - EVER (I did and pulled off an A though:)); 3) She intentionally makes the course WAY more difficult and WAY less interesting than it could be and should be. Hopefully she retires soon so more students don't have to survive her hell.
Beware! This course is much tougher than it seems, especially with Dupont! The midterm was very hard, the final was just as difficult! She makes tricky wording on multiple choice so you REALLY have to know your stuff, otherwise you WON'T DO WELL! Keep up with the work, and study new material every day! Don't let it get piled up to the end!!
I have taken biol 139, 343, and 444 with her and she is a great prof. Material in the courses is not easy but she presents it well and makes it easy to understand. Podcasts are also so helpful for studying for the exams. She also posts a practice midterm for the class that is very similar to the actual exam. Do it and youll do well in her courses.
Interesting course but she's a tough marker!! Give as much detail and be as SPECIFIC as possible. I recommend going to her office hours to seek clarification. Helpful and will help you realize how much you don't really know about your material! Podcasts are lifesaver.
Her midterm was killer, I was definitely not expecting that, many of the notes I took from the textbook weren't very relevant. She talks with a monotone voice, and her ppt slides don't flow logically, to me it's just a bunch of random information mushed together. She seems nice and all but super hard.
Her podcasts are EXTREMELY helpful. Clear and concise lecturer, but tends to go through material a bit too fast. She will tell you what you need/don't need to know from the powerpoint slides. Seemed like she was a bit hostile towards questions during lecture.
Extremely tricky wording on tests. Put a good amount of effort into the tutorial and you get can close to 30 percent of easy marks. Helps a lot, plus 2-5 percent bonus due to a low class avg. Concepts aren't difficult but you must know your stuff completely. I'm not kidding, SERIOUSLY know everything 100 percent and you'll stand a chance. She's ok.
Really good prof. Kept me interested in the course throughout the term. Enunciates the concepts well. Watch the podcasts! (you dont even need to go to lectures). Gives plenty of opportunities to improve marks through tutorials and bonus videos. Evaluations aren't hard as long as you pay attention to every podcasts. READ THE QUESTIONS THOROUGHLY.
horrible prof. very boring and very confusing. exams and tests are hard
The course is difficult mainly because of the tricky wording on the midterms and exams. Dupont is very interested in the material and gets that point across with cool videos and extra material. Her DVD for purchase at the end was extremely useful, and overall I feel like I learned alot.
She spoke at a reasonable pace to keep students interested. She actually made me enjoy the course although my final mark is not what I had wanted. She explains questions really well and mentioned key years (or people) who are important for the exam. The exams were fair if you knew your stuff. Her podcasts definitely help when studying for exams.
Awesome prof! I stated first year hating bio due to bio 130 but Dupont made me like bio again! She is clear, posts podcasts, old midterms and exams and gives you 5% bonus. The exam and midterm is VERY similar to the actual ones! If you can't do well in her class then you are slacking.
Chris is clear, fair and interesting. Her after midterm and pre-exam breakdowns helped you understand tricks in questions and made it easy. Anyone complaining simply doesn't know how to study for this course: It's application based. Don't memorize the example, simply understand the 'why' of each step and you'll get an 80, minimum. That's really it.
She knows her stuff but is extremely rude when answering questions both in class and in her office hours. Stay away. Also marks extremely hard on exams and assignments.
Class was a bit difficult. you have to understand the concept not memorize everything that wouldn't work. The stories she tells in class are very interesting and if you're not already interested in biotech then you'll be inspired and more interested.
Content was tough and she won't baby you because she wants you to actually learn the material but she is very helpful and willing to explain concepts over and over until the class really understands it.
Very enthusiastic and willing to help. Exams and midterms are hard but she drops hints as to what little things you need to know.
A very engaging prof. Class is not mandatory due to her posting her lecture videos. She is very clear and is very caring towards her students.
Christine is very detailed and clear with her explanations. Although it may take time to get used to her lectures at the beginning (especially the nauseating colour schemes), she is an engaging professor. Her podcasts of each lecture and practice exams make studying for exams easy and effective.
Christine manages to make genetics into a bore. She tests you on the most random questions and you can clearly see she's sick of teaching this class. No passion whatsoever. Also, she never mentioned that you needed a Pink Tie calculator for the final (any calculator was allowed at the midterm) and then told you to put it away. Useless prof.
Best prof for genetics
Very interesting class, loved Dupont as a prof. Tutorials were okay, midterm and final were a challenge. Study hard, use the lecture summaries or pay attention in class if you want to do well. Very smart lecturer and a very engaging class. Textbook is fairly useless. Can't wait to take biotech and virology with her!
Amazing prof!
The prof is very good. Her powerpoints are very clear and only have the information you need to know. Her lectures can be fairly boring and no necessary to attend. However, she is very helpful and will work with you until you understand the concepts.
She is so picky in terms of marking yet does not go into nearly that much detail in lecture.
I should first start by saying, she's very pretty and has a unique sense of style! You're going to want to be driven to learn and do well. Learn so that you are specific and detailed. Great prof!
Excellent lecturer. Clear, concise, and easy to understand. Provides extra material on LEARN that was helpful for studying (games, flashcards, etc.).
If your interested in the material you're going to enjoy the class. If you're just taking it as a required credit it can be seen as a dry course. Biology background is not required as she explains all that you need to know. Podcasts are available for all lectures and power points are all posted online well before the lecture.
She uploads podcasts/lectures online which are a great help before the exams! The way she teaches helps you understand the course material a lot better. She doesn't stress textbook readings too much, which is great! Loved hearing her lectures, very interesting if you pay attention! Tough grader, but gives a 5% bonus. Not too many assignments/quizes
I thoroughly enjoy her lectures as she has a lovely speaking voice and is clearly interested in the course material. The midterm was one of the most difficult I've written and lectures didn't seem to be in as great of detail as required for the midterm. The final was more the style of her lectures. Homework is over the top for little grade percent
Great prof, funny stories, best class of the year
I don't know if it's just me but her lectures are somewhat boring because she doesn't get straight to the point. She will repeat something 500 times that you get lost. (Buy her CD, it's better). Her midterm was easy and the 5% bonus are awesome. I just skipped all lectures and still did great on the midterm. The tutorial is absolutely useless.
Don't take her courses if you're a wimp. She's a tough marker and she will make you feel like you're an idiot if you ask her to explain something twice (welcome to the real world), but there is a lot of professional value to be taken from her courses. She is a very tactful lecturer and takes her job seriously. One of the best BIOL profs.
Her lectures are fairly entertaining and she has podcasts too. The tutorials are obsolete. The only problem I see is, her examination style is of the logic recursion style where you try to parse A AND B OR C AND NOT D in the definition sense, rather than a holistic comprehension/application approach to evaluation (although there's gene maps).
Not great at lecturing. She is pretty boring and monotone. She basically reads from the textbook. Attendance is not mandatory. I would recommend reading the textbook over going to her lectures.
Christine Dupont is a very kind professor and clearly shows her passion for biology through her lectures. The great thing about her class is that she records her lectures and posts them for students to access later. The issue with her class is that she talks really quiet and slow about unnecessary info, and speeds through complex topics.
Her lectures are can be pretty dry but she records and uploads her lectures which is nice since her classes are usually morning classes. The midterm was pretty easy - almost a direct replication of the practice midterm. Final was really tough though so beware. Tutorials are not super helpful but are unfortunately mandatory.
Really god prof who knows how to explain well and I actually love genetics, the content was cool and she made it interesting. Tests are worded a little tricky but she does give a lot of mark booster things you can do (free 9 + bonus 5%)... going to class really helps because it makes you take notes to understand better but there are podcasts!
She creates grading schemes to benefit her class average but not to actually benefit the students. For example, our midterm was a 68% and we were given a well done. Assignments are not graded clearly, with marks taken off for things that in the question were vague and convoluted. If you can avoid this course to get your degree, I would.
Dr. Dupont's genetics course is probably one of the worst courses I've ever taken thus far. In Grade 12 AP bio, I loved genetics and got a transfer credit that I could have used to skip BIOL 239 but decided not to use it. What a mistake this was. Dr. Dupont's quizzes and tests are worded so poorly with so much ambiguity. 3/10.
Worst prof ever, makes her students feel dumb and a very hard marker, course weight isn't distributed evenly, she just isn't interested in helping her students.
pretty good, offers a 5% bonus with textbook..but it costs a bunch :( Lots of content, but mostly high school review. Right good notes, lectures are recoded though
Prof. Dupont is a great lecturer, but she doesn't welcome questions in class, and is generally quite intimidating. Also, the final exam was so difficult that around half the class failed and she needed to grade it out of less.
