There are only three exams and each exam is straight out of the notes from class. She does not go over what is going to be on the exam but is willing to answer questions from the student before exam is going to be held. A lot of information is on the exam but exam is extremely straight forward.

You actually need to read the book and will be tested on subject matter from the book! Also, I needed to use my brain in this class, which is rare for most courses at this school. I really enjoyed the challenge and instruction; however, do not take this class if you are looking for an easy pass.

Yeah, she's difficult, but only if you don't do what she tells you to. There is a ton of notes and everything is game for the tests. I actually liked her because you know exactly what to expect, and whats expected of you. Don't be stupid and you'll be fine

If you can't write a paper and you don't know how to study for a test, take some more gen ed classes first. She is challenging and this course will make you a better student, if you're willing to learn. I have friends that go to private colleges where they expect a lot of their students; she compares to them. Don't expect to skate through this one

Her class is pretty straight forward actually if you're willing to read the book and take notes in class. She sounds scary at first, but then it's not that bad after you get over with not being able to use electronic devices in class. She's very funny a while later too. Everything's fair game for the test, but if you read it, you should be fine.

She's a hard teacher, but if you pay attention and actually study the tests are not that hard. It isn't your easy GE class, but after all it is criminal justice. Lets hope our future law enforcement aren't slackers anyway.

Famega was easier than everybody made her out to be. She doesn't give a study guide, but her test material comes straight from the notes. 2 midterms and a final. I took it MWF and missed EVERY friday, but still passed with a B. Barely studied

Famega is the most straight forward professor there is. she tells you which chapters will be on the tests so all you need to do is read them and know the basic concepts. people say she is hard cuz all she says is study whatever is in the chapter. by the way, famega makes for good eye candy while she is lecturing.

I like Famega because you get the grade that you earn. I studied HARD for her classes and got A & B grades, but the people who don't study for her class don't also get A & B grades. Her classes separate out those who should be in university from those who should not!

Very hard. Test questions are not the problem... its the choices their so similar that you better no that you know. Dont take her if you have a choice or Study study and pay attention to details like chritine vs kristina she ask questions like that in regards to senerios in the text. things you think arent important. paper hard. Dont mess up

The loser who complained about CJUS 575 with Famega obviously doesn't realize that the class usually requires 120 hours - not just 90- she was giving us a break! And... internships that count for class credit are not usually paid! Famega is not disorganized, a lot of the students were irresponsible and did not show up for their shifts. Shocking.

The professor with the long blonde hair and the ruby red lips strikes AGAIN! This is the second time I've taken her. She's compelling, articulate, knows her stuff, VERY TOUGH (lay off all you haters - it's called WORK...look into it). But tough in a good way - if you're a serious student, you will rise to the challenge. Thank you Dr. F!!!

she is not a hard teacher she just give alot of information and you HAVE to study for her class, she lacks in personality so her class is a bit boring but not as horrible as everyone says.

This is a straight forward teacher, you have to pay attention and actually look through the book if you want to pass the class, she gives clues during her lecture on what is going to be on the test, you just have to know how to pay attention, during midterm she gave every one 6 extra points and the final every one received 8 extra points.

The class was not as hard as people say. Dr. Famega was very knowledgeable on the subject matter and constantly asked "any question?" just to make sure people understood. Graded on only 3 things 2 tests and a 5 page paper. The tests are pretty straight forward and come from the notes, no tricks. If you want to learn the subject take her class.

Go to every class, take good notes, study the notes and the 3 exams are easy. The paper is ONLY 5 pages... People who complain about that don't deserve a degree. It seems confusing at first but I recommend to start at least 3 weeks before it's due. Keep in mind it is a hard class and not easy but the material is helpful for future CJUS classes.

This is the second time I have taken Famega. She is really not as bad as everyone says she is. The class is not that much work only 2 tests and 1 paper. Moreover, she attempts to help any student who will ASK for it. This will be my second time getting an A in her class. Don't freak out, just study and you shall do fine.

Dr. Famega is not as bad as everyone thinks. She is very specific about what she wants on her paper and is very open to questions. There is no study guide but if you study what she teaches in class & read the book you shouldn't get anything lower than an A.

If you fail the class its because your lazy or never attended class.Just take good notes, pay attention,study,and do your paper and you will pass the class!

These comments are far off! shes a great professor. this class was by far my fav. class i took this qtr. there are 8 online quizzes worth ten pts & they are very easy. One midterm and one final. One thing i can say is there is a lot of notes/info to review for both tests. i got an A in the class, its VERY easy, and shes great.

She is very intimidating, but she lays out in the syllabus how to pass the class. Her class is a lot of studying but shes helpful to any questions.Make sure to get paper reviewed before turning it in she has an "editors eye" and will deduct points. I took her 4hr night class and she will keep you all four hours, even on halloween!

Once again, Lady Godiva strikes AGAIN! The prof. with the long blond hair, and Canadian sensibilities has schooled me yet another time. This course was fantastic - Dr. Famega is very helpful, clear, and concise. I will take as many courses from her as I can! She's very professional, and, does NOT suffer fools. If you're a clown, stay away.

You DO need the book, all of her quizzes are based off the required chapters, no papers, just quizzes, midterm, and final. She is straight to the point on her lectures and overall a very nice lady.

All I can say is that she is very straight to the point on what she expects. I am far from a C student and having 100+ questions on the midterm and final really made it hard to get a good grade. Needless to say, she gave me my first C ever!!

I took both of her classes this quarter(320&340)I was SO scared because of the stories I heard but I ended up with a A- in 340 & a B in 320. You do have to read the book in 340 because there are quizzes every week but in 320 the tests are right off her notes & I got an A on the paper. She is a great teacher & always asks if anyone has any questions

Start your paper early and read the book ahead of time. Tests are not that hard, but missing a class will seriously set you back. She's an easy going professor, just don't get on her bad side and you will pass the class.

She is one of the best professors I have ever had! She goes into depth on all the material, and she is very straight forward on what she expects from you. Read the book and her notes especially. Class is mandatory! I will be taking her again for CJUS 340.

Not going to lie i was scared to take her for 340 but it wasnt that bad i ended up with an A the quizzes are straight foward just answer the questions she gives you. Nothing from the quiz will be on the midterm or fianl so study her notes. Attend class or have a friend no notes on blackboard. No papers just quizzes and two tests.

She is clear on what she expects of her students and did not alter her syllabus at all. Her lectures cover most of what is in the book but requires her students to know all key terms and to be able to respond to questions in the back of the chapter. Her tests are straight forward, no trick questions. If you ask for clarity she will provide it.

Dr. Famega is a great professor. She explains material very well, always answers questions and clarifies any confusion about a topic. I was extremely nervous for her 5 page paper (worth 200 pts!), but she was extremely helpful and pointed me in the right direction. Tests are tricky, but if you go to class&read the textbook you will do just fine.

Dr. Famega is a great professor. Recommend over Dr. Tibbetts. For my class she gave 3 tests and one paper. She does not give a study guide for tests but if you review your notes and read the chapter you will be okay. She cracks a few jokes during lectures and will answer your questions if you are confused. Also, her outfits are always cute.

She is a really good teacher. I loved that she is knowledgeable on the subject. You must do the reading to do good on her test and always do the lesson objective she gives you for every chapter, they are basically your study guides. Her quizzes are easy if you do the reading ahead of time. If you do the work, you will pass for sure.

you HAVE to show up to class in order to pass. Honestly, i read these ratings and thought she was going to be easy. I was wrong. I have NEVER failed a course, and well I failed this course and have to take it again. It the tests. No study guides- basically have to teach yourself. Required 5 pg paper. Its easy just tough grader.

Look, if you're a serious college student taking a mandatory class, she's perfect. You learn with this professor if you are actually paying attention instead of being on the internet or your phone. She's knowledgable of the subject. Having trouble understanding a theory, office hours. Reach out. Got an A and didn't have to read the book.

I don't understand why her reviews are so low. I love Dr. Famega! She's a little cry, but she cracks so many jokes, you wouldn't expect it. Dr. Famega is a great teacher. Her expectations of the class are very clear. She responds to emails almost instantly. She welcomes any type of communication & is more than happy to clear up any misunderstanding you may have. You do have to WORK & EARN for your grade, however, Dr. Famega, puts her students in a position to succeed & pass the class.

I took her for 340 online and honestly it's really not that bad. It was a a quiz a week A discussion board every other week and the midterm and final. Just read the book do the study guides and you good

You are graded on 3 tests, 2 quizzes, and 1 paper. You have to read the textbook and pay attention to the lectures because it will be on the tests. She explains the theories great however you have to take the time to study and review because the theories are very similar. I enjoyed her class overall.

Professor Famega is great! You will have to work for your grade. There are weekly online quizzes, a midterm and final. Class in mandatory! Her final and midterm questions come from her seminars and the weekly objectives. Take good notes. You will learn a lot in her class. Famega is a great professor. She is tough, but she is fair. Just as a heads up, if you're pursuing a career in law enforcement and find this class way too difficult, good luck getting through a police academy. I speak from experience.

first CJUS class taken at csusb. 4 exams and 1 five page paper. I worked my ass off but It wasn't till my last exam that I was able to get something better than a C. Make sure you take notes and study those notes. Overall I really enjoyed her class, I would take her again!

I have taken professor Famega for many of my criminal justice classes. One of the best professors I've ever had. Her lectures are fascinating. She doesn't provide a study guide, so expect to read the whole book by the end of the semester. You'll do just fine if you pay attention to the lectures and read the book.

I do not understand the reviews that have been posted here. I was apprehensive because I read them and thought the professor would be all the things they reported, but she was not. I enjoyed her lectures and the additional applications of the lecture materials. I would definitely take her again and may have that chance next fall.

I took this online class in fall 2024. The professor is clear on grading but no extra credit is given. There's a midterm, final, 7 Packback discussions which you have to pay for ($50), and 10–12 quizzes (12-min limit). It may seem like a lot, but it's manageable. All exams/quizzes are on lockdown browser to prevent any cheating.
