She is an exceptional teacher who makes her classes incredibly interesting
She's the BEST for cultural anthro!

Love Her! She is so nice and helpfull. Thanks Christine!
Great teacher, would not hesitate one moment taking another class with her. Very clear, very kind, very interesting.
She explains everything really well, I would highly recommend her.
Chris is so awesome! I would love to have her as my prof again.
Awesome teacher. You gotta know yur stuff but she makes learning it very easy. I watched more movies in that class than all of elementary and junior high combined.
Chirs is an interesting prof. I liked her when I took her class but realized that she has some questionable views, scientifically speaking. Having taken other ANTH classes at the U of C I now realize that her view is very limited.
One of the best teachers i have ever had
Class was tough but I learned a lot and it was fun!
I really liked her. She is easy going and interesting. She has some great stories to tell and knows a lot. I would love to have her again.
Chris is an awesome teacher! I've had her for a couple of classes and she made them really interesting. It is really hard to DO bad in her course, she is very specific.. of what you NEED to know for the exams. - Make sure you write down everything she writes on the board.
Wow! I mean I learnt so much in this class it's not even funny. She is such a great prof..very knowledgable and will do everything in her powers to give you time to understand material..even if it's outside the class. Awesome videos and slide shows. What a great class. So interesting that you should do well.
A very inspirational teacher. She truly enjoys what she does.
Really great teacher, enthusiastic, interesting and good projects. Like her lots
Chris is awesome!! She's super funny and makes the class. I wasn't excited at all about this class but she makes all the difference. If I wasn't moving away I'd definitely go into her class again.
Chris is the best prof I've ever taken a class with. I would recommend her over and over again...amazing stories and willing to help on anything and everything. Don't take an intro class with anyone besides her!!
She is a very interesting teacher, you will never get bored in her class. One problem if any, if you miss a class you are in a lot of trouble!
A very good prof. She knows the content, and is a pleasure to be taught by. The class was quite hard at times, but she was very understanding and helpful.
Chris is the reason I'm majoring in anthropology.
Chris was great. She was really passionate about Anthropology. There was no group work and no presentations - it is an awsome class to take. The first class in Mount Royal that I walked out of and felt like I changed. I recommend taking this class with Christine.
Chris is the best prof I have ever had! She never wasted class time and made every class interesting! If you pay attention in class and take notes from what she puts on the board the course is an easy one. She is very approachable and very friendly! Take her class! (2201 or 2203)
Chris was the best Anthro. teacher ever. Even the boring material is interesting 'cause she's teaching it. Take her class - take BOTH her classes. Love her :)
Make sure you are always in class to get her notes. You will find them useful for all her exams. Her exams are not too difficult if you have paid attention. Great lady, loved her class, interesting video choices LOL
Chris is the greatest prof ever! I had her my first semester, and switched to her 2203 night-class the next semester just so I could have her again! She is very passionate and knows what she is talking about. Very approachable, down to earth, with a great sense of humor. Would highly reccommend Chris over and over again!
Chris was SO funny and applied almost everything thing to real life, telling super funny stories, and making it easier to remember terms. I HIGHLY recommend her as a professor. I learned a lot, not only about Anthropology, but mostly about life.
Chris is such a great teacher!! I would recommend her to anyone. she makes everything so easy and fun! great teacher!
Best prof. i've ever had. Go to her lectures and there is no way you cannot do well. She is so funny and applies what you learn to real life not just Anthro.
Hilarious. Amazing prof. You definitely should attend her class, as HER lectures are on the test, not necessarily the text readings. If you try at all, you'll succeed.
Chris is a wonderful person. Her classes are a lot of fun and if it's nice out she'll take the class outdoors and lecture in the park! Her tests are easy if you do the readings and attend class. She doesn't try to challenge you or intimidate you, but you will leave her classes with so much knowledge about both Anthropology and out world in general.
Awesome teacher - really kept me interested in learning through my first semester of College (after many years away from school). I'd recommend any class she is teaching to anyone!
very clear, very fun. i was always interested in what she was saying
Best professor I have ever had. She knows her stuff, makes it really interested, and is a very fair marker. I would totally take one of her classes again!! Great great great.
BEST PROF EVER!!! honestly you show up and she makes it worth it, not only does she give you all the information you need to do well she always makes it interesting...i would take her class again in a heart beat!! GO CHRIS
Really great prof. She is very nice and funny. I loved going to her class and listening to her stories.
chris is the best prof I have EVER HAD! i had her for both anthro 1101/1103 and she isAMAZING!!!
Great teacher, super cool and laid back. Teaching style is informative and easy to understand. She makes learning fun and keeps things interesting. The class isn't a bore and she doesn't like wasting time on material we won't use.
Chris is a wonderful teacher! One of the best teachers I've ever had! NEVER miss her class; they are so fun! She had really fair exams and you are never bored in her classes! She even made economics interesting, haha. Definitely take one of her classes! She's FABULOUS!!!
My fav class this semester, So interesting. for sure i am going to take any class i can that she is teaching that will go towards my degree. Text book is of no use honestly she has the knowledge and if you pay attention in class and go regulary you could pass the class with out opening the book and still get all the knowledge you need!!
Lets you choose formats of tests, no cumulative tests, knows what she's talking about.
Very funny, but she does want you to learn. She tailors the class to her students in each section because she does want them to do well. Her tests are fair and relatively easy so long as you study, and attend lectures. Does not mind explaining things again. Thanks Chris!
Chris is an amazing teacher. As long as you go to class, you will do fine as everything you need to know is discussed in class. a nice person who wants everyone to do well. she is the reason im majoring in anthropology.
Chris is amazing! She is the best prof I have ever had. Definatly the best at mru. She explains everything extremmely well and actually wants us to do good in her class. She is always willing to help. Just go to class and the class will be easy. I had no interest in this class and after I had her once I took all her classes.
Had her for 1101 and 1105. Awesome awesome teacher in every way possible. Take her class and show up to lectures, she makes em fun. Highly recommended with 2 thumbs way up.
Chris is an inspiration. She said at the beginning of class that by the end we'd think differently about our place in the world and it's true. She is incredibly engaging, passionate and willing to support students to succeed. I am so thankful I took this class with Chris.
This class was amazing and Chris is a great prof. Attendance is mandatory though as she does lecture style only. LOVED THE ZOO TRIP!
Chris is awesome. Tests are not too hard, one of the multiple choice options is usually something silly, so this increases your chances of guessing correctly. Also very funny, always a few laughs. I would always choose her for ANTH classes.
Probably the best Prof i have ever had, i would recommend her to anyone.
Chris is a great professor! She is passionate about teaching and her class discussions are always informative and fun! She is a great prof that gives you help when you need assistance. She is also hilarious! Would recommend her to anyone!! :)
Chris is amazing, she makes class so fun. Just be in her lectures and you'll do good. She helps you with anything and some of her questions are giveaways. I would recommend Chris to anyone, she's the best!
Chris is a great professor! She was extremely helpful and easy to talk to. We got to choose our exam formats which was nice. Going to the zoo was a definite plus!
She was wonderful! I would recommend her to anyone! Plus the class is really interesting! I'm taking another anthro class just because of her!
I took her 1101 class while i was stil @ Mru N she is simply amazing! if i have too take another anthro class i'll take it during the spring or summer when im home from school in edmonton! i higly recommed her!
i am currently taking my second class with chris, and i can easily say she is one of the best prof's i've ever had. she really gets the class involved, and cares about all of her students. i would take another class with her in a heartbeat. chris is amazing, i highly recommend her!
Chris= AMAZING! What a refreshing experience, I love to go to class! ( Im not a keener, but seriously LOVE) Chris is real, funny, and honest. I have learned so much, more then I know, and It has never felt forced, or exhausting.
Chris is one of the best professors I've ever had. I LOVED this class. Attendance is highly recommended because she goes over everything in the textbook in much more detail...her class is super interesting anyways, you will never want to miss it! And, there is a zoo field trip...which is awesome
The best teacher I've had so far at mount royal! She is awesome, gets people involved, cares about the student, will let you redo assignments if you got a low mark, gave clear instructions for every assignment! Very approachable! Fair marker! PICK THIS PROF!
Christine is an amazing prof! She makes being a student fun and as a result you want to do better! I wish more profs at MRU were as open minded and as helpful! Thanks Chris for allowing me to think for myself and letting me challenge you in a positive way! It was nice to have a prof who wasn't afraid of an intelligent student!
Chris is fantastic, especially if it's your first year of post-secondary.
Chris is absolutely fantastic! she is helpful and she knows everything about what she teaches. She never stumbles upon anything. She really is the best teacher at mount royal.
Chris is a fantastic prof with high energy. Class is absolutely necessary as tests are based completely on lectures. I barely used the textbook and honestly, wouldn't buy it for her class. Write down everything she says and go to EVERY class. You watch a movie every week too which is great! But take notes as these will be on the long answer questio
Chris is great. She has been around for a long time but maintains a high interest in her field of study and in teaching. She is quirky and cracks jokes on a regular basis. She is leanient, and approachable. Tests are based almost souly on lecture and movies (1 every week), must attend class, reading isn't totally necessary.
Chris is AWESOME. She makes the curriculum interesting and keeps you entertained throughout the class by joking and starting interesting discussion. There is no textbook anymore but you need to do the readings she assigns.
Christine is AWESOME, if you take anthro, take it with her. This is the only class I actually enjoy attending this semester!
Chris is my favourite prof. Classes are extremely funny and light-hearted. What is best is that she stays on topic while being hilarious, and you learn everything you need to right from her mouth or the blackboard notes. No boring slides, minimal textbook reading, great movies, and a prof who is confident in you passing. Sometimes condescending.
THE BEST!
Chris is by far the best prof I have ever had. Changing my minor to ANTH because of her.
Great teacher!!! Very understanding and helpful!
Chris is the best prof I've had. I'm now minoring in ANTH and wished she taught more courses!! Her teaching methods work: the content is simple and she keeps the lectures interesting. She shows great knowledge and enthusiasm in the subject. Exams are fair and short. Study your notes and you'll do fine! (hardly used the textbook-until final)
Chris was so awesome. Super easy to follow and she always makes her lectures interesting. Definitely have to go to class, but she's hilarious and fun to be around so that's never an issue. Didn't really use my textbook except to expand on a few concepts. Definitely recommend. Easy marker, the essay was a grade booster.
I really did not enjoy Chris as a professor. She goes through her notes very quickly and doesn't write much on the board. As well her thoughts seem very scattered as she goes back and forth a lot. I thought this course would be much easier as a intro class. She puts tricky questions on the multiple choice and her grading doesn't make sense to me.
Chris is awesome, she is very energetic and interesting and open. I love her teaching style, class is never boring and you actually want to be there. Her classes are not difficult - I didn't even buy the textbook and I got an A-. She is really clear about expectations and everything so you can be prepared easily.
Chris is freaking awesome. So glad I ended up in a class with her! She is one of the few profs I've come across that actually cares about how her students perform. She's all real and no crap.
She is an awesome instructor. Really tells you what you need to know and do to get a good mark in her class. Taking another class with her. Best prof, enjoys her job and subject very much.
Chris is a great teacher! She made this subject really interesting. She was really clear about what was going to be on the midterms, final and paper. Write down everything she does on the board! Definitely recommend this class.
Chris is a Brilliant prof! She knows her stuff as well as makes her classes fun and interesting. She is great to talk to one on one and is clear about what she expects of her students. Choose her if you have the option!! She is wicked!
Chris is an awesome prof! I've taken two of her classes so far and, I would take more if I could. Don't bother buying the textbook though I probably open them once all semester. Just go to class and write a lot of notes and you'll do great.
Chris definitely kept the class discussions interesting. Although, she wasn't fully thorough while explaining the assignment and the final essay question. She's a great prof overall though. Wouldn't recommend slacking off after the first midterm because the second midterm is a scary reality check.
Beware - You can know the course info inside and out but still lose marks on exams because you didn't mention something she told you not to worry about. You can also ask her to clarify something after class and she wont tell you, even though it was discussed in class. Nice lady, but would never take a class again with her.
best anthro prof hands down. very funny, you have to be willing to work hard for a great grade, a bit sassy but over all AMAZING.
Chris is a great prof! I took Primatology and Human Evolution with her. I found she is very engaging, i was very interested in the content. she knows the content very well as she has been teaching it for many years. she even lets the class choose the format of exams! (which are not cumulative) one of the exams, we chose not to have short answer
Awesome teacher, she made the course interesting and a fairly easy marker. She lets you (class) build the midterm (structure)
Attendance is mandatory. Textbook isn't required. You have to go take your own notes! She rarely writes anything down on the boards. But she's very funny and makes lectures interesting.
As a first year I took intro to Cultural Anth with Chris. Best. Decision. Ever. Lectures are engaging and relevant, regularly spiced up with funny stories and material that you'll want to tell your friends about later. Expectations and marking criteria are clearly laid out-you know just what you need to do to rock it! Midterms, paper, no final!
Chris is by far one of my favorite professors at MRU. She's very clear and explains what you will need to study for the exams. On top of that, her outgoing and comedic personality makes her classes interesting!
She was funny.
super fun and awesome!!! don't ask her stuff she mentions in lecture though, pay attention!!
She didn't bother helping me prepare for the final and I myself have Autism. She didn't respect me and treated me badly, I handed my paper an hour late, but she said it's 10 percent off and I had a good reason too. She really lowered my self esteem and self worth. :(
She's amazing! Super funny and nice and helpful, never judgemental either.
Chris is an odd teacher. On the one hand, she shares hearfelt personal stories. On the other hand, she has bizarre conspiracy theories, and very questionable information to support her teachings. One thing that really bothered me was her obvious favouritism when it came to answering questions or even eye contact during lecture. Easy A though...
Intriguing lectures that relate to real life and other courses! She tells great personal stories as well. The reason my sister became an Anthropologist!
Chris is a really great prof! She's accommodating and understanding. I expected to do a lot of work and memorization for this class, but it is nothing anyone couldn't handle! I would take another class with her if I could.
Christine is great! Her lectures are very interesting and easy to understand, she's funny and has some really interesting stories about her past work. Overall tests and the essay were pretty basic in terms of grading. It is mandatory to come to class as she does NOT follow powerpoints or use blackboard, you take notes of what she says.
Chris is by far my favourite professor here, she is so funny in class and her lectures are really entertaining and engaging. Show up to her classes especially when there is a movie and you will have no problem getting a good grade.
Chris is amazing! Probably my favourite prof at Mount Royal. Just make sure you take notes and go to class.. then you're golden! She's also hilarious and easy to approach.
Show up to class and take notes you'll pass! No need for the textbook. She allows each class to decide the format of each exam. If you don't make over an B+ its just because you didn't show up.
She made me want to learn and study
Chris is an awesome teacher, in order to obtain a B or higher you must attend every class and listen to the lectures, which may i add are very interesting and engaging. She sets out a clear lay out for you when it comes to a midterm or an assignment. I would surely recommend others to take her anthropology classes.
Chris is an amazing prof! Her lectures were always very engaging and she is clearly passionate about the subject material. You can get by without the textbook if you're okay with no more than a B. I missed two months of the semester with a concussion and she went out of her way to help me catch up on the material. Loved her class, and you will too!
amazing prof
Chris was an excellent teacher! She writes on the board exactly what you need to know for the midterm, as well as on the midterm she makes the questions easy so you can pass. I often even skipped out on the movies since it was a 3 hour lecture. She is very understanding and a hilarious teacher! I am taking another class with her next semester!!
She is really good. She doesn't give powerpoints, but if you show up to class and take good notes, this is an easy class! What she says in lecture is exactly what is on her exams and you don't even need to read the textbook! She's really approachable and interesting as well.
I'm so glad I had Chris for this course. I loved her so much that I'm waiting until next year to take Intro to Primatology because I couldn't get into her section next semester. She's really clear on what you need to know for the midterm &final, lectures are really interesting and entertaining. Chris made me want to minor in Anthropology!
Chris was by far one of the best teachers I have ever had! She is really good at explaining things so that everyone can understand and fosters a really open environment so that students feel comfortable asking questions. The only thing is that she does not have powerpoints and mentions things specifically in lectures that you'll need for tests.
Christine is awesome. She has great stories, and is a fair marker. Pay attention to her lectures; lots of her exam questions are the definitions she gives not the textbook).
Chris is a great teacher she is very easy to get along with and gives off a comfortable vibe which makes the class very relaxing and easy to take.
The best! Would take any class she teaches if I could!
She's very passionate about the course and always keeps the lectures interesting-even if that means venturing off into a personal story. She's super funny and easy to get a hold of outside of class. She doesn't have much sympathy to those who miss/skip classes however, so try not to miss too much and she'll like you.
Chris is such a great prof! She is so easy to talk to and I enjoyed going to her class every week! Her lectures are so interesting and they are driven off of class discussion which makes it enjoyable. There's a group presentation near the end of semester, and although it is a group project, you are completely graded individually.
Chris is an excellent instructor. She provides enthusiastic lecturing, and is energetic and engaging. I am very happy to have had the opportunity to learn from her. She provided excellent examples, relevant stories that helped provide context, and resources for extra information. I did not for one moment miss having a powerpoint. Go to each class.
Christine is an outstanding prof. Incredibly passionate about Anthropology. Ensure you attend every class as her lectures are not posted online.
Chris is amazing. Hands down one of my favourite profs. She is very accommodating and wants her students to do well. Her final group project she does grade pretty hard on the essay IMO, but her attendance is only mandatory during the presentation weeks. As long as you take good notes and pay attention this class is a safe bet for a good mark.
Hilarious, kind, and engaging. She writes her notes on the chalkboard, and doesn't post them on BB - so class is mandatory. Her exams are based on her notes, and videos - I didnt open the textbook and I got an A. She's a great teacher, and I'd take any class with her! You do need to study hard, cause the material isn't easy.
Chris is a great prof, the class was super fun. I took it during the spring semester but the 3 hour class went by super fast because the class was actually interesting. Everything she puts on the board and says in class is really all you need for the exams and tests, just pay attention and come to class and you will pass.
Lectures were really interesting, she's very passionate and knowledgable about what she teaches. Clear about what you have to know for tests.
Chris is one of those teachers that gives students the benefit of the doubt. She really wants to see you do well in her class and it is very possible to do so as her lectures are incredibly organized and interesting. In her class you will always know what to expect. Sad to see this class end this term!
Loved going to Christine's class, she is an excellent prof! Knowledgeable, caring, and funny. Made the class engaging and interesting. My biggest suggestion for the class is to take good notes. She doesn't post content on BB and I found test questions to often be things she specifically talked about in class. I also didn't use the textbook once.
If I ever take another anthropology course I would take it with Christine. Shes so upbeat and excited when it comes to the material, which I think is important to keep students engaged. If you study its a fairly average course. She doesnt take attendance and doesnt care if you come or not, however missing her lectures will only hurt your grade.
love Chris, always happy. doesnt post notes on bb, so go to class. Shes a classic lecturer, she talks- you write. it sounds intimidating but she goes over important things slowly, repeats stuff. if you skip you will not pass. we never used the text, the skippers missed out on the info she taught that comprised the tests and probably did bad on tests
One of the best classes I've ever taken. Show up to class because she writes everything on the board and gives you the explanations which will be used in the test. Very few readings from textbook and tells some really interesting and funny stories. Only class so far that I have taken which lets the class vote on test format.
Very nice prof, marks very quickly and fairly. Attendance is mandatory as midterm content is based off lectures. There are very few course readings and most of the course is based off social issues. Fairly easy gned to take so get into her class if you can.
This is my 2nd class with Chris, and she's amazing. She's funny, logical, and passionate about her lectures. She doesn't use powerpoint or take attendance. Her exams are fairly easy if you attend class and take good notes. Everyone should take this class, it was very educational and touches on current events in Canada.
Chris is great! She is very passionate about her students and wants them to succeed. You will have to be willing to go to class because she is a classic lecturer (no PP all talk), but it's pretty straight forward. Lots of video content which was a change. Highly Recommend
Wow, Christine is an amazing professor! She knows her content, and teaches with passion and energy. She is creative, and entertaining to listen to. She captures your attention with relevant content, and encourages you to think for yourself. Very very good class. Attend class and you will do well.
wayyyy too hard for an intro class...
Chris is one of the best profs I've had. She's caring, hilarious and tells you exactly what she expects and exactly what to study. There are no surprises in her exams, its literally everything she talks about. You definitely need to come to the lectures though, lots of info in them, if you don't you'll be lost trying to read the whole text book.
Very passionate about her subject, works hard to engage the students. Understanding of extenuating circumstances, etc. and very helpful in general. 10/10 would take again.
Her class is so straight forward and transparent. Chris will tell you exactly what she expects of you and basically everything she writes on the board is test material which is very helpful. I finished this class with an A+ without buying the textbook and no prior knowledge about primatology. She is so inspirational that I look forward to attending
This class was definitely only great because of Chris. I had a hard time coming to class on time, but she is very interesting to listen to which made having 8:30's less of a drag. The second half of the sem is mostly group presentations. Show up to class because attendance counts as 10% of your overall grade. Overall, a great professor.
Christine was an awesome professor. I was hesitant to take this class as I am not someone who is interested in science, but needed a gned from this cluster. Her course was 3 tests and 1 quiz, and her tests were straight forward. You will get a good grade if you show up to her lectures, take thorough notes, and study for the tests! Very awesome prof
Christine Giancarlo is an amazing professor, she makes her lectures interesting by adding her personal experiences. She does go off topic at times, however she makes sure to get all the important information taught.
Amazing professor. She marks very fairly and as long as you pay attention and have a basic understanding, you will get an easy A. Her course is not based on a lot of content, so as long as you show up and read the occasional reading she assigns you will do good. Super understanding as well, she is very professional and understands students lives.
Took GNED1304 with Chris. She's very intimidating at first but she's actually a nice lady. Participation and Attendance do count for marks since she does not have online notes but I skipped maybe 1/3 of the classes and was okay. 1 "Group" assignment, 2 short current events papers, 1 midterm (based on short readings) and 1 quiz. No final.
Christine is by far the best prof I've ever had. I've taken her for 3 classes, and wish she could be my prof for every class. Attendance is mandatory as she does not use powerpoint, but her tests and papers are extremely fair. She makes class super fun and her tests always have jokes to lighten the mood. She's very straightforward and a real gem.
Christine was one of the most amazing profs I've ever had. Her lectures are interesting and the videos she shows are educational and entertaining at the same time. She is very clear on expectations and how you will be graded. Show up to class, take notes, do the readings and you will succeed in her class!
One of the better profs I've had to this point. Show up and you'll get at least a B easily. A lot of the topics covered affect everyone and it's super easy to have class discussions. 10% is based on participation alone so be prepared to show up, but it's a light courseload. I never did any of the readings that were assigned and I finished with an A
Chris was a great prof. Her lectures are interesting and they're the key to doing well in the course; it's definitely worth attending!
Chris uploads all of the required readings online. Expect to read 1 journal article per week, ranging from 15 to 50 pages. Chris does not use/post slides or notes for her class. The midterm/final are both heavily based on class discussion so if you skip class there is no way you can pass. Exam questions are, however, very straightforward and easy.
Christine is an AMAZING professor. Everyone I know who has taken her class absolutely loves her. She is clearly passionate about her work and her lectures are very engaging. The final grade is based off of 3 exams, so as long as you study you should be fine. Her tests are all based off of the lectures and the textbook is used as an aid.
Was an interesting course to take with her. Lots of papers and 1 group project that consisted of each writing individual essays and then presenting to the class your essay. Tests were difficult and you need to pay attention to the readings to pass
This whole course mark consisted of three exams so it is a good course if you do well on exams. I wish we had some assignments to boost marks honestly. Great professor though, very fun to listen to. Always incorporating personal stories that fit with what we're learning in the course. She is very knowledgable.
Christine is such an amazing professor. Her lectures are extremely interesting and captivating. I would look forward to her class every day.
As a conservative I found it extremely hard to be in this class. she will constantly let her own political opinions form our conversation. it was hard for me to sit through each class becuase every conversation we had I was on the exact opposite side of the argument. This class took everyone of my political and moral values tore them down.
I didn't attend class much as attendance wasn't mandatory for online, but she was great and charismatic. we only had 2 midterms and the final to be graded on, not cumulative. she explains topics well and sometimes the textbook isn't required for grades. though there are weekly videos to help with concepts! enjoy the class!
Love Chris! She is very understanding about classes being online, she makes lectures pretty enjoyable and interactive, very friendly, a good teacher and the tests are based on the lectures and notes so it isn't that heavy on the textbook use
Fall 2020 was my first year at MRU and I could not have asked for a better prof. Her ANTH1103 is graded on 2 term tests and a final. Her tests are based on notes which were provided. lectures weren't mandatory but most attended anyway because they were fun. Welcoming to opposing views and did not shame anyone. I didn't use the textbook
Christine is the best professor ever. She is super easy going, funny and open minded about new ideas and new things she may learn from students. Her tests are really easy so long as you show up to the lectures and even if you dont her lecture notes are basically identical to the test. Her classes are stress free. TAKE HER CLASSES SHE IS AMAZING!!!
I LOVE CHRIS, she makes class so fun, she actually teaches you things and tells you what to study for. she is one of the best profs at mru
I would 100% recommend anyone to take her. I would recommend to attend class but its not the end of the world if you miss some or half *cough cough* like me. You need to attend class and watch any videos to answer the short answer questions in her tests.
Christine is a great prof. Her tests are decent; and I thought I should've gotten some answers right but its not a big deal. You need to watch the video she sends or shows in class. I loved her as a prof, but I just hate anth.
Christine is very nice and you can tell she enjoys what she does. I would definitely take her again. The lectures are very long and quite boring but she has a good attitude. The exams are very fair if you study her lecture notes. Personally I would not take Anthropology again because it is very boring but I'm happy I got her as a prof.
Christine is one of the best profs I have had in my first year of uni. I wish I found ANTH more interesting as a course so I could retake her because her lectures were so interesting even at 8 am. definitely recommend her as an easy class (3 midterms and no assignments- tests only have info from her notes so pre straight forward 10/10 recommend
Chris has a passion for what she does and provides notes for all the lecture which was awesome. I did find her to be a touch marker as I am used to getting As but what can you do. Very interesting class and she gives good lectures. Would take something from her in the future. Expect to read a large quantity of information and watch a lot of videos
She only does 3 exams that are worth 30/35% each for the whole semester which I've never been the best at. Her lectures are decent in the least and she seems passionate. She has strange answers for exams at times but don't bother emailing her if you want to get clarification on stuff you misunderstood; she won't help you.
The only things we were marked on were 2 midterms and a final. Which wasn't bad because it gave me the opportunity to focus on my other subjects a bit more. However, the tests were a little tricky at times. And the online lectures made it hard to stay focused, as she never posted slides or her screen. We just watched her talk the full 80 minutes
She is an AMAZING prof. Her lectures are very engaging and interesting. Although she doesn't use power point slides, its all verbal lectures so you might fall asleep listening lol. She's super caring and laid back. Honestly made this online learning enjoyable. Take her class!
Christine is amazing!! You can tell she's really passionate about what she's teaching, and she gives really interesting lectures. Tests are straightforward and easy. Couldn't recommend her enough.
Chris is very kind and enthusiastic while teaching. She is very engaging to listen to and has interesting lectures. Her tests are fairly easy, so long as you pay attention to the videos she has you watch and you follow her lecture notes. Makes my online class so much better than I had originally expected.
I really enjoyed her class she really shared insightful things and I would defiantly recommend. She is a fair grader and a fast grader. Allows the class to choose the format for exams and the only textbook was like $20 and it was an interesting read! Very accommodating if you need any accommodations.
Very great prof, if you ever get the chance to take a class with her I would highly recommend it.
Dr. Giancarlo is an excellent and chill person and consistently gives relevant examples in anthropology that are easy for every student to understand. However, there are only three things that need to be completed for the entire course (2 midterms and the final exam) so it is either you do well or dont. She always cares about her students learning
I'm not even in anthropology, and Christine made me like it as it tied into this GNED! If I had to describe her in one word, I'd say cool! She was engaging, caring and switched on. Show up and its an easy A!
Chris was an amazing prof and taking her class was incredibly rewarding, especially as a first-year (nice way to ease into uni life). Her lectures are in no way boring and it almost just feels like having a casual conversation with her. Also, since Chris explains topics so well on blackboard and allowed open book tests, I never needed the textbook.
She is such a lovely kind person. I loved attending her classes because she cared about what her students had to say even if it was off-topic. She is so non-judgmental which made the class much better knowing my prof loves everybody for who they are. The coursework itself is super achievable and may be easy for some. Would definitely reccommend!
I witnessed Christine compare a biracial student to a mule. A professor who would say such an appalling thing should not be teaching a class about race. She needs to learn that the students in her class are humans and should be treated as such.
Chris is an absolute gem! Her intro to cultural anthropology course inspired my love of anthropology! Her lectures were informative and she would often contribute to the course content by sharing personal stories (which I loved). The way she marks is straightforward and fair. If you have the opportunity, TAKE ONE OF CHRIS'S CLASSES!
Chris is an amazing prof and this class was super informative. Her grading criteria is very clear, so it's easy to do well. Her lectures are easy to follow and she really cares about making the world a better place. This class is really influential and Chris does an amazing job, providing tons of useful anti-racist resources.
Chris is a very sweet prof. She loves to hear students' opinions and will always help if you need it. Had 2 midterms, a 10 page essay, and a 'final' (all worth about 25%). You do need to purchase a book. Her lectures are interesting and she provides notes that contain a lot of the information on her tests. Had weekly videos and readings.
Her teaching style is great and she makes class entertaining, she does have some strong opinions that she expresses in class but even as someone that disagreed with some of the things she said her class was still amazing. Shes very insightful and is always willing to answer questions no matter how dumb they may seem. She cares a lot about students.
My second class with Chris. She is so great. Easy marker, interesting course subjects. Love her !
Christine is a great professor & is highly recommended. She is high energy, funny, and personable. I found the tests to be worded poorly and therefore difficult, but that is just me. I am not great at testing in general so I find it hard for all marks to come from tests. Overall I would take her again, but she is taking a second for me to adjust to
Christine is a wonderful professor for your first ANTH class! She is very passionate and easy to talk to in her class. Attending might not be mandatory since she provides lecture note but her slide is a little messy so I would recommend rewriting them in Docs so it is easier to study, or in case she gives you an open book option for the exam.
Christine is one of the best professors in MRU! Truly inspiring. I was worried since the whole course only has 2 midterms, 1 short quiz and 1 final but her test are pretty easy and fair. She also give notes for every lectures so you pretty much have all the answers for the exams. Would take her again in a heartbeat!
I've taken two classes with Chris and intend to take more if possible. She's one of the easiest profs I've had which is so good for my mental health, but she's still very knowledgable and cares for her students. I wish more profs were like Chris!
Really great professor, definitely made me interested in taking more anthropology classes. There were no assignments for the class, so all grades came from tests. Even though attendance wasn't mandatory, there were questions in tests that came from things talked about during lectures and weren't mentioned in notes or textbooks.
