she is very helpful and makes sure you get what you are doing
she is a very cool lady you have to do your workbut she structures it in a way that actually helps you unlike most teachers
Prof. Goldbar was very helpful and personable. I thought she would be difficult in the begining, but she ended up being an awesome lady. She's very easy to follow and I learned a lot. I liked that she made friends with her students.

She has to be one of the best teachers I've ever had. She's clear on what she wants U to do and is always professional about everything but very friendly.
kinda hard but hard to talk to
I thought she was really cool and very easy to talk to. She wasn't a push over, but she helped us a lot. I learned so much in her class.
She is a good teacher, i would recommend her to anyone and if i could have i would have taken her for 300. she is very helpful and wants to make sure everyone understands what is going on.
She was terrible! First of all, she is just terrible at teaching. She gives really weird methods of doing things, and the worst part is they are required. For example, you have to do an MLA outline, then rough draft, then final draft for each paper. She also forgets to teach things, then later pretends like she taught them. Confusing! AVOID!
I really liked this instructor, and I liked that she made us do the essays in stages. It really made me stay on top of things. I don't know what the previous person was talking about, because I felt she explained everything really well, and if I had questions I just had to ask. I think the other person must have just gotten a bad grade.
She is a fair grader and I really enjoyed her class. I hated English before i took her class but now love to write. Lots of students in my class did poorly...only because they turned in the work late or they did not meet the work count. Take this teacher, do the work and NEVER miss a class you will get a good grade
I liked her. You only need the text for the in class essays and to help you cite.
Not enough explanation and not helpful enough.
I am not into English, but she made it interesting. I had to work really hard in the class and learned not to procrastinate. She is wonderful because she lets the student pick the topic of the essay. It is much easier to write about something you are interested in, than not. If I had to take another English class, I would take from her.
If you take the 8-week course you'll be very busy, especially if taking a full load of classes at the same time. Most of the class passed - it was just a lot of work. Goldbar grades fairly, so you'll get what you put in.
The fact that you got to pick who or what you write about, she had really WIERD ways of grading. Wasn't very helpful in explaining. After each paper you have to correct what you missed for no additional points. Corrections are hard to read cause she makes up her correcting abbrevations. Take someone else if possible.
She is by far the worst professor. Stay clear!!!
She doesn't take anything into account.
she's the worst english teacher ever!!... i don't really know how she grades.. and no restroom excuse!! so hold it!!!
Ms. Goldbar is a very good teacher. She really broke down all the grammar and MLA issues that I know NOTHING about. She is real easy to talk to. She isn't easy, but the class was fun, and we talked about a lot of interesting issues. I would take her again.
Good teacher, but too strict. I lost the whole letter grade on not being late on my outline when I had all the final and draft on that day. She even corrected it the day before, but she didn't want to accept it the day after. she said that I can return the whole homework assignment on the next day, but I would loose about the same amount of points.
At first I was really freaked out by this professor, but I ended up passing the class with an A. Go to class; attendance is really important and try really hard on your work. It will be scary at first, but I promise you will adapt!
EXTREMELY strict. Attendance is important! Intimidating at first, but stick with her. Pay attention - did I mention she is strict? Show up and be prepared. Lots of class discussion, lots of writing assignment although only 3 major essays.
There is a great deal of commitment work, and research in this class. It is extremely structured, which is what I like. I really really liked this class because it was very interesting and she taught me the fundamentals of academic writing. She is serious about docking you for even small mistakes so dont make them. She is a hard grader.Rewarding and fun class.. Awesome Professor!
WORSE teacher ever, dont take her.there are lots of assignment, she is not clear on her teachings and she can be very intimidating.TAKE HER ONLY IF YOU WANT TO DROP THE CLASS LATER
Honestly I haven't learned a single thing in an English class since maybe freshman year in high school. Only five essays out of class essays and two in-class essays. Not that difficult. She just gives you the prompt and you write. She creates busy work during class, like grammar exercises (elementary school level). Glad I'm finally done. Good Luck!
She is a great professor! I learned a lot in her class. It is very easy to get an A as long as you attend every single day! very important to be there and be there on time. She is very clear on what she wants. Just do everything her way and on time. She is a tough critic on the essays but it helps to know everything you need to improve on.
She is very difficult, when you write your essays she takes off points for every period/comma you misuse. Also, not very helpful, refers students to Writing Center if they want help.
Personally she was awful no heart doesn't care about her students & I really didn't learn much from her DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS she has her degree & has no care if you get yours! BAD CHOICE!!
too many assignments which limits your time for the other classes you are taking.
Very hard, too many assignments!!! I did not enjoy this class at all!
Extremely strict on grading essays, but works to improve your essay writing skills. Difficult assignments, but will help for future writing skills. Extremely nice and cheerful. Very clear on what she wants and what she needs
I just completed this 8 week course which was quite fun. She was not a terrible teacher at all. I really enjoyed her style. She is crystal clear on exactly what she expects for each one of her assignments; therefore, if anyone flunks the class, it is because of their wrong-doing in the course.
Awful
Extremely unhelpful and not understanding in the least bit. Takes off incredible amounts of points for minor for grammatical errors and cares less about the actual content. I recommend not taking her class.
Not understanding or helpful. Very strict. Don't take this class.
I enjoyed her class. A lot of essays are expected and she is a tough grader, but it is a college level English class so it is to be expected. You must buy the textbooks and always bring them to class. A lot of work due at the end of the semester. Overall I enjoyed her class and would most likely take one with her again.
She is a tough grader but college isn't supposed to be easy. She always lets you know what you can do to improve and is more than willing to work with students who have questions. Easy to contact via email.
Overall she was a good teacher. I took her at 7:30am and that is a hard time to do an English Class. She did what she could to make it a good class, but when it comes to her assignments she is a fairly hard grader.. I would recommend her as long as you want a challenge. She will push you because she knows that you can do better.
Thought I'd like her very much but I have been disappointed. Take another professor if at all possible. Too many class schedule changes. :(
She is a nice lady, but not very helpful overall. She is far too strict on grammar and MLA format, and the actual content of the essay seems to be an afterthought to her. Prepare to pull your hair out if you take the 6 week summer class.
This class MAY be a little easier if it was a full term class. She is extremely strict with grammar. If your grammar isn't consistent, you might want to consider a different teacher. Whether or not your in her class till the very end, did all her assignments and in class work, she will still fail you if your not up to par with her requirements.
Very strict. A lot of the class activities don't involve actual writing and she makes you work in groups everyday. I feel like everything I've learned has been from the textbook and not her actual teaching.
Prof. Goldbar is a great teacher. She answers every question you have and is very nice. She has helped me become a wonderful essay writer, even though I had no idea what I was doing at the start of class. I would recommend her for anyone who needs to take ENGWR.
She is such a nice teacher. Get on her bad side and you will face the consequences, but if you give her the respect that you want yourself, you will have no trouble. Her essays are difficult and she uses line count instead of word count, but she has taught me a lot and she is very funny too. never judge a book by its cover!
Grades way too hard on grammar and MLA format. Disregards the actual content of essay. Will bring your essay down a whole letter grade if Works cited it incorrect. She makes students feel insecure about their writing because she marks every grammar and sentence structure error. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Mrs. Goldbar is a very thorough and fair professor. She emphasizes formatting and is very helpful. She does not flake on any personal jobs and has a passion for writing. I recommend this professor if you are ready to work hard and learn. No laziness in this class!
This class was very demanding in that almost every class period there was either an open book quiz, something due, or group activities, but I have never learned as much from an English class as I have learned from this one. Take Goldbar's class if you want to really improve your essay writing. There is a presentation as a final. Great teacher, nice!
She likes to give verbal instructions that aren't included online or that aren't written on the whiteboard, thus making you rely on your memory if you can't write it down. Also, she is very uptight about bringing hard copies. Lacking empathy, as well. No excuses for anything.
She is very strict with assignments and doesn't accept any form of late work. Grades work weeks later and leaves a portion of the grade ungraded until the end of the semester. She is very strict with MLA and very quickly takes points away. The books she chose were interesting which is why I had high hopes for this class but just an awful teacher.
This professor is a GREAT teacher, but if you are looking for an easy A class than this may not be the class for you. She is very clear with directions and what she is looking for in essays, but makes you work for your grade. You will actually learn something in her class, and she will help you grow as a writer. Make sure you know your GRAMMER!
I would not recommend this teacher to anyone. She is a very tough teacher that is not understanding to her students. If you walk in late and they have taken a quiz, she will not let you make it up. She grades essays very harshly, so you need all the points you can get in her class. I was very disappointed and if I could go back I wouldn't take her.
She is amazing teacher because she tells all information we need.
She is a great teacher. Of course you have to work hard for your grade and that makes sense. She is understanding, too. Always ready to work with you to get your writing skill improved and for better grade. HIGHLY recommend her if you really want to be a good writer. I got an A in her class although English is not my first language.
Great Professor, very funny, and alot of fun to be in her class.
One of the best professors I have ever had. She is really hard, but it is because she pushes you to be your best. I know a lot of people on here say she is too hard, but only your best should be expected of you at this level( COLLEGE). She ensures that. As long as you follow directions(which is not hard) and are on time you will no doubt pass!
Not the best, classes are boring and lame, wouldn't take again! Papers don't make sense and she's a tough grader, on like everything
Yes, this class is hard, you will have to count lines not words & quotes not included in the lines. Must have draft paper printed in class or she'll make you leave & mark you absent, BUT honestly I am a better writer because of her. I now can analyze instead of summarize when I write. If you're looking for an easy A, this is not the class for you.
This Professor requires a few books from your local library rather than a textbook. Lots of papers, but all worth it. Learning is inevitable. She'll make you work for it, but you'll be glad you went through it for the outcome. Offers EC, too!
Please dont take her class. she is one of the hardest teacher I ever had. she give a lot of homework, essays, research projects and group works. She dont help students and put all the work on students. She cancel the class whenever she wants to and if you have a question she will answer it in 48 hours or more. Dont take this class.
You wouldnt pass unless you do all homeworks and projects in tuition. Hardest teacher!
Prof. Goldbar is an awesome professor. Shes smart, thoughtful, and gives great feedback. If youre confused about something shell gladly explain it. I thought she was very nice and she has a great late policy. Show up to class, put thought into your writing, and focus while youre there. Dont let the other comments discourage you, shes great!
If you struggle at writing essays Goldbar will definitely improve your technique. Goldbar is one of a kind professors and you could tell she loves teaching. Yes there are essays that you have to write but again you are in college. Oh and if you love fast food good luck eating it after you finish her class.
You only have to read two books, and there was a test every other week on MLA and English grammar. Her essay prompts where a bit too specific. And most of the class couldn't follow it so she sent all the essays back with marks so that we could redo them. She also makes showing up to class mandatory and you are stuck there until the class ends.
Professor Goldbar is a very kind and professional lecturer she knows how to motivate the student to be prepared for the lessons I strongly recommend her if anyone wants to take a class with her.
She starts off with saying that online classes are difficult, and then doesn't have anything prepared. While this may be harsh, she feels unprofessional(had wrong email in her syllabus so wouldn't respond & didn't fix it until 5 wks in) and definitely shouldn't do online teaching. Puts incomplete instead of 0s, & copy pasted from book quizzes.
This professor tends to give a lot of busy work, and on essays and discussion boards there is a high minimum word count that could be simplified.
She is the best professor I have had so far. Her class is really easy as long as you do her work and do the readings assigned. She tries to be hands on and do fun activities to ease off stress. Definitely would take again!
You get to choose from 3 great books to read for the class. 3 papers. Weekly journals,DBs&quizzes. Quizzes are open note&come straight from the book. The essays are personal&she has very clear rubrics to follow. Grading was slow, but she made it clear that she has health issues that prevents her from working sometimes. Overall, a great choice!
She's great. Very understanding and knowledgable.
My first college class, as dual enrollment during high school. My writing improved like crazy, but the workload is tough. Super open and helpful during virtual office hours, and gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. Take advantage of it. I was scared I'd be clinging on to a B and ended up over 100% lol
She gives out a lot of busy work not pertaining to the essay you are supposed to be writing. She also has no indication of progress, and the essays are pushed to the side until a week before the due date. 1500 word essays with complex requirements surrounding sources. Very picky with sources. Be prepared to stress.
She saw a problem in my thesis and instead of taking points she just stopped grading it and gave me a zero and I asked her what was wrong and she just said she left comments. She left ONE comment which was extremely vague so I emailed her again and told me to go to office hours which were ONLY on Wednesdays while I had another class.
Super critical. Moreover, the final writing was a "definitive" essay, but the words were practically racist in nature. The use of terms such as slave, ghetto, lynching, etc. I found her conduct to be inappropriate and offensive. I will NEVER take a secular English ever again. WARNING: Umojia students stay within the program.
Very understanding! I passed almost all of my assignments even the essays late and she still let me pass them without giving me penalty. You just have to email her and communicate with her. Also, if you need any help, don't be scared to email her because she's easy to reach and very nice. She's not the typical mean and hard grader com college prof.
This class provided good insights on how to write better. She is very easy to contact outside of class. One thing to keep in mind is don't procrastinate your essays (2 essays), as they are really time-consuming. To find your sources and make sure they are good. Overall, this was a good class. Discussion board each week.
She has no grading my work for 3 months and has a attitude.
Never take this profesor!!! Remember about that!!!
Ms. Goldbar is a very great professor. I had her in my first year of college as a dual enrollment student. She made my life easier by teaching me important concepts that I need to know in my high school. I absolutely loved being her student!
She gave a decent amount of work, but it helped me learn a lot about MLA formatting. Don't expect your assignments graded fast at all, but she is very accessible from email and her office hour.
She never grades anything
Not that bad, just make sure you stay up to date on work
