GREAT teacher! Dr. S made sure that everyone understood the course material. Very helpful when you have problems, as well.
Very nice. Lectures are very straight forward, as are the tests. Don't really need the book.
Very nice lady. Great professor. Tests are pretty well straight from the notes.
She is very nice, easy to compromise with and is very helpful. She does have a smiling problem so beware!!! But overall she is a great teacher who knows her stuff.
She is my favorite teacher at Auburn by far. She is extremely helpful and her tests aren't bad at all. Just make sure to read through the notes-everything is straightforward. When she lectures she gets excited about the material and smiles really big!!!
understood material very well. answers all questions that you have.
I love this woman!! she is so nice and helpful. I can't remember the last time i had a teacher i liked this much i think it was 2nd grade. This class does take a lot of time but it flies by with Dr S. I would recommend if you are looking for a hard but fun class!
She is really nice and shows great interest in the material. Study your notes and course packet.
She's very clear and has no problem answering questions. She offers alot of help outside of class and is an extremely nice person. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING DR. SUNDERMANN!
Take her especially if you never had a good biology teacher. She explains everything in detail that you need for the exams, but if she isn't going to test your on it, she skips the section! All you have to do is copy her notes and study them, the course packet really isn't necessary unless you really don't understand. I WOULD TAKE HER AGAIN!
Not the easiest teacher ever. Moves very fast.
She is a little quirky, but she definitely wants you to learn and smiles a lot. One of the nicest teachers I've ever had. The course packet helps, but really all you have to do is go to class and take notes and then go to the review sessions; she goes over everything on the test during the review sessions. Easy A if you put forth the minimum effort
Go to class. Gives a lot of quizzes, which can either help you or kill you. Study at least a week in advance for tests. Ended up with a B and didn't study very much, so an A is very possible.
DO NOT TAKE FOR PRINCIPLES OF BIO! i made A's and B's on all of her tests, and bc of her impossible 200 question final, of which non were from prevous tests, i ended up with a 79.5, which of course is a C, and i went to class!
Dr. Sundermann is a vey interesting woman, she's REALLY into biology. I would definitely suggest the course packet for a great review. Going to class everyday helps more than you'd think, so get up and GO! It's not a difficult class. Her tests can be somewhat tricky but that's expected, we're in college. Lab grade helps a TON so keep up with that!
Very good teacher, all over the place at times, but one of the better BIOL teachers. Very straight forward. Buyy her packet!! This is a must. the book isnt much help. GO to class as well! Study and a B is very attainable. Lab is crucial. take it seriously.
Read the book! Tests are kind of simple but the final is impossible! Take someone else if you can-not very clear.
Go to class - take notes - great help sessions. Very striaightforward. Liked this class.
Professor Sundermann is a really great professor. Some things are a bit difficult to understand and I thought her tests were a bit difficult. Definitely go to class and take notes. The lab really boosts your grade too. She has a lot of review sessions that are really helpful so go to those if you can. I recommend her for sure
She runs through the material very fast and teaches to the last minute every class. Not very helpful. No extra credit opportunities. No curves! Attendance is not mandatory but if you don't go you will fail.
Great teacher. Enthusiastic and interesting. This class does require a lot of work but it is well worth it. One of my favorite classes at Auburn. Plus she offers a LOT of extra credit so that helps out a lot
She's a nice woman but goes blindingly fast. One of those classes that you're positive you understand what she's saying until you have to explain it to yourself when you study or take the test. Her tests are absolutely insane. If you don't have much time to study, this isn't the class for you. If you're good at science, you'll be fine.
Nice woman, but very scatter-brained! Notes are hard to understand because there is no organization to it... it's just stuff written all over the board! The material is not that hard and I would feel prepared for the tests, but when taking the test I would have no clue what she was asking! Wouldn't suggest unless you are amazing at chemistry stuff!
She is not a good teacher. Her notes do not help you at all. Avoid this **** at all cost. You don't have to attend class because you get dumber when you do!!!! DON'T TAKE HER CLASS!!!!!!
Take her! She held tons of study sessions which really helped, she basically tutored us. She also gives lecture outlines which can be used to study, attendance isnt mandatory but she does give pop quizzes which can help your grade later! She's really nice, doesnt want to fail you but doesnt hold your hand...just make an effort ;)
Eventhough attendance is not mandatory, you MUST go. She uses her own examples during lecture, & they will be on the test. Take good notes, go to every class, and study the study outlines she gives. Also, she gives bonus pop quizzes randomly in class. I got a total of about 25 bonus points from the quizzes which moved me from getting a B to an A.
horrible class. every single test was loaded with trickery. she is helpful if you go to study sessions. her notes are confusing and there is no point in going to class if you read the book. drop her at all costs!!!!
she is extremely nice nad knows what she's talking about! a little jumpy at times. SI sessions are extremely helpful! the best biol 1020 teacher by far.
At this very moment I am cramming for a test in her class in 3.5 hours. A test I will undeniably fail. I hate this class.
This class is fairly easy if you take good notes and go to class. Online assignments are not mandatory, but are helpful in preparing for the tests (which are simple if you've studied adequately). She doesn't use the textbook much, but if you read the chapters she covers, it gives you extra help. SI Sessions are helpful and plentiful.
I really liked this class. I would recommend attending every class though. She makes the material so much easier to understand. She is a really great, helpful teacher. She does smile a lot but you get used to it.
She was a pretty good teacher. If you go to class and take time to study you should do well. Take advantage of any extra credit assignments offered, they could be the difference in an A. Study and go to class and you will be fine
Sundermann is a great teacher. She explains things very well. If you attend class and make notes of things she said will be on the test or are important and learn them that will help a lot. Tests are multiple choice. Good about answering qustions by email. Makes the topic interesting as well. Highly reccomended!
Dr. S is a good teacher.Go to class, take good notes, and review blackboard folders before test and you will do fine.Don't freak out if you mess up on one test, she does give a little bonus(her tests were 80 pts a piece, she gave us 15 bonus in the class). If you are struggling go to SI!! The instructor is great. Work and you'll get an A.Good luck!
Great teacher. Always up beat and very helpful with any questions you have. Offers SI sessions. Print her notes off of blackboard and take notes in class and you'll be fine.
Good teacher! Did the best she could with the lectures and made it easy to listen to explanations while copying down notes. A very pleasant woman. The class was basically exams.
DON'T BUY THE BOOK OR THE COURSE PACKET! You can easily make an A without them. All of the material you need for the tests is given to you in class. Go to class, copy her notes, study them for the test and this class will be a breeze!
Nice lady, but EXTREMLEY hard class. This class is pretty much just exams so do not take if you are a bad test taker. SI sessions are available and you will want to go to those, because listening to her gets very boring. I have almost fallen asleep in this class many times. Would NOT recommend this class to anyone!
NOT a good teacher at all! classes are long, boring and confusing. Exams are way to hard, most people in my class have already failed the first 3. She talks slow and makes me fall asleep! whatever you do.. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
Not that difficult. Class notes helped - tests were ok - study your lecture notes - go to class every day - it was enjoyable even at 8
Very good professor. Class could be extremely hard with the material, but she tests on the most basic. Gives loads of extra credit. GO TO CLASS! Tests on lecture notes. Also do the study guides, very helpful. Not hard to make an A. Take her! Best of the Bio teachers! Also she made it interesting. Smiles a lot.
One of my favorite classes and professors at AU! You can tell Dr.S loves teaching this material. Her exams are moderately difficult but follow the notes. Lab practicals are harder, but she gives out tons of bonus points. Case reports are very easy but require too much time. She is very knowledgeable and helpful. Down side: 7 point grade scale
Easiest class I have ever taken. The test is straight from the notes. She makes biology super easy. Go to class and go over your notes and you will make an A.
A wonderful lecturer and a wonderful professor. Her tests come straight from the notes and are generally not tricky. She truly cares about the students and is willing to help her students not only with class material but also with looking into undergraduate research ideas. Her class is not too difficult to achieve an A in at all.
Her tests come directly from the notes, so you really have to go to class if you want a good grade. Some of her test questions are tricky, but as long as you know the notes you're fine. It is not impossible to get an A and you never really have to read the book. She offers MasteringBiology for extra credit- DO IT! It really adds up at the end.
I really liked her, I thought she was a good teacher and the tests aren't too bad. Just make sure to study your notes really well. You don't ever use the book, and DO Mastering Biology! It adds up later and it really does help you do well on the tests. I got an A in her class without a ton of effort
I signed up for her 8am class because I heard she was one of the easiest Bio teachers. I regret it! She writes everything on the chalkboard, which is very hard to read. I study a lot for her tests and still find them difficult. Her voice is monotone, which makes class extremely boring.
the class really isnt that bad at all if you study your notes and actually come to class and listen to her. however, i highly suggest you dont take it on tuesday and thursday because her lectures get so long and she never lets you out early. DONT BUY THE BOOK! just take good notes and you should be able to get an A!
she is a wonderful professor who loves what she teaches and is genuinely interested in passing on information to students. she writes everything on the board- coming to class isn't really an option. test questions come straight from the notes and Mastering Biology online-do the online assignments for sure! definitely recommend taking her class!
You can tell she really loves Biology. However, after comparing how her tests look to other professors, her tests are definitely a lot harder! And her make up exams are IMPOSSIBLE so don't miss a class! She isn't very approachable, but she is nice. Go to SI Sessions, and if you can get an easier professor unless you accept the challenge!
She is an ok teacher, but I would avoid her if I could. She writes all the notes on the board and they can be hard to read, and she isn't very approachable. Her test are semi-hard and she doesn't have any old test. I looked at other professors test and they were easier. But if you take notes and study a good bit then you could get a B pretty esay.
This class was good and instrucotr was clear. Tests were off the lectures, Chances for extra points.
I liked this class. I learned a lot and tests not bad because they came often and were computer graded and we got them back fast. Gave practice assignments.
DO NOT waste your money on the textbook. All you need is the Mastering Biology- and make sure you do all of it. The points bumped me from a B to an A! She's really nice and the tests come directly from her notes and the study sheets on Blackboard. Make sure you go to the test reviews that she offers after tests, all of those ?'s are on the final!
She really loves her subject. At times, she was not very clear. I got A's on all of her tests but one, of which I got a C on. Luckily, bonus points are available. DO ALL! Attendance is not mandatory, but I definitely suggest being there for as many classes as possible. Otherwise, the material is difficult to catch up on.
If you have had any background in biology (AP Bio) in highschool, don't even unwrap the textbook. All you need to do to do well and make an A is: 1. GO TO CLASS, 2. Take notes on every things she says. 3. study your notes and 4. do the mastering biology. Do all of this and its an easy A. She is great.
Very easy to achieve an A in this class. Puts up lecture outlines (more like worksheets) on canvas that goes along with her notes, so basically print those out and bring them to class to fill them out. Attendance is not mandatory. And her review sessions is very helpful and she basically emphasizes what is on the test. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND HER.
Everyone things she's extremely easy, but I went to every class, every SI, and did every bonus point and still got a C. I thought her test questions were tricky, honestly. She's really nice and loves her subject.
I was not expecting her class to be hard, but for me it was. I suppose if you are really at Biology and like it then take her class. She doesn't give any of her tests back so don't go looking for them. I feel like people either do really well or struggle the whole time.
Did not expect a C in this class. I felt like she really wants you to do well, but she uses alot of trick questions on her tests. You feel like your super prepared for a test, and you can easily be surprised that you weren't.
this course was good. There were assignments for the chapters to give extra points. Easy to keep up and exams were from the class notes and the assignments so studying wasn't bad, gave great review sessions
Great teacher, excellent course. If you attend lecture and take notes, you can succeed. Tests are only from the notes, so attendence, though not madatory, is highly suggested. Multiple choice tests
I made an A in all of my other classes, except for this one. i made a B. I went to EVERY lecture, almost every SI, and studied so hard. If you can take someone else, do it. i had friends that took bowling who never studied like i did and came out with an A. she's a sweet woman who is passionate about this class, but her tests are hard.
Reasonable class except that it was early.
SO easy! She is very sweet and willing to help. I never used the textbook. I always printed off her fill-in-the-blank notes and studied those. Made an A on every test.
Dr. Sundermann is great. She is very passionate about her field and tries to make lectures interesting. Take good notes and do the Mastering Bio- the tests were taken straight from her notes. I would highly recommend her.
Greatest teacher I've had. Pretty much all test questions are based on notes taken in class (a few come from mastering biology). She is very clear in her teaching and will work with you during office hours. Take her if you can.
I took her my first semester at Auburn. Every time I approached her she was rather rude and not very helpful. Her tests are difficult.
The information in this class is not too difficult, but she goes through it very quickly. Sometimes her notes are disorganized and occasionally contradictory. She is not a very kind or understanding person to students and it comes off as discouraging. She puts a lot of study guides online - use those. Don't let her crush your dreams. You can do it.
I think Dr. Sundermann is extremely intelligent but she confused me when she lectured. Her notes are so confusing and when I go back and study them I can't understand the chapter so I spent the whole semester reading the text book and still got a C. She is not very understanding and she comes across rude. Get another professor if you can!
She was a fairly decent professor. I wish she would have used more technology, rather than writing on a chalkboard that was difficult to see.
Not the worst teacher I've ever had...She goes through notes and lecture very fast and sometimes makes it confusing. I usually just read from the book because of this, but apparently her notes contain most of the information on the test, and the book was just so broad. Her test questions are super specific, know the material like it's 2nd nature.
Dr. Sundermann is the best teacher I have ever taken from. The class can be hard if you don't have much experience in biology, but I had no problem with it and there are tons of help sessions and extra credit. She is really nice!!! The tests are pretty straightforward as long as you know the material. Good luck!
I did horrible on the first test because I didn't study at all. The rest of the semester I studied alot and attended almost every SI session. If you take good notes and do the Mastering Biology (which is for extra credit) and STUDY this class is manageable. I really enjoyed her style of teaching and found the class to be very entertaining.
Sundermann is an amazing teacher. She is very helpful and her lectures are almost exactly like her tests. I highly recommend this teacher.
Mrs. Sundermann is an amazing teacher. She is very clear about everything. Her test can be a little tricky so if you take this class as a joke and don't study, it will show. Her SI instructor this semester was AMAZING. She was very helpful. I highly recommend going to SI if you are confused about anything.
Dr. Sundermann is a great biology teacher. I loved how she wrote the notes out on the board for us as she taught. Her tests were fair, but there always were a couple tricky questions. You only need your notes really in class. The homework being worth bonus points was nice though! Review those notes to do well.
She is a terrible teacher. Her notes are awful and VERY disorganized! She speeds through every lecture so you pretty much have to teach yourself the material. Get a new professor if you can
Good teacher. Helpful when ask for help. Study your notes and do mastering biology. Don't need to read the book at all.
She was incredibly sweet natured and you could tell she LOVES her job. I really enjoyed taking this class, but I love all science classes. You will need to study, especially the processes and chemicals that take place in the cell processes.
I would NEVER recommend anyone take her. She writes everything on a chalk board which is incredibly hard to read, especially if you're in the back. She is not helpful outside of class and expects you to know the material back and forward. I know many people who failed her and I made a D. I retook the class with another professor and made an A.
Her test are easy. If you go to class and take notes then you should easily pass. She keeps your attention.
Great instructor! Test are straight from lecture so along as you go to class and take notes you can get a good grade. She gave extra credit for online homework which brought my grade from a B to an A. She seems to love teaching and truly wants every student to learn and do well in her class.
Ms. Sundermann is one of my favorite teachers so far. Her love for biology emanates through her lectures and she is more than willing to help if you are struggling. If you attend class, tests are relatively easy. Her lecture notes are guaranteed questions. Highly recommended teacher for Biology 1020!
Sundermann is a good teacher. She writes everything out on a chalkboard which can make note taking a little difficult. This wasn't my easiest class at auburn but it definitely wasn't my hardest. If you study you should do fine. Mastering Bio is extra credit!
The tests are tough and lectures are MANDATORY. I missed one class and it messed me up. Go to every SI, regardless of how well you know the info. Sometime's Sundermann gets mixed up in lecture and means something else. She gives study worksheets online and those help a lot. MasteringBio is extra credit and you can Google all of the answers.
go to class. take good notes. lots and lots of note cards. study hard and you'll do fine. she does get confused though and mix some of the terms or steps up so pay really good attention. do the mastering biology. easy extra credit.
One of the best professors at Auburn. If you are pre-med or pre-vet this class gives you a leg up for graduate school. Alot of information and you have to study! Have to memorize every detail about 50+ parasites. Lab can be long but helps alot for lecture. You will enjoy learning from her!
Lectures are long and extremely important. Take notes, tests come straight from the notes. Go to SI and her help sessions. Ask questions, she's very nice. It's clear she loves biology and teaching. I really liked this class!
Take notes at every lecture, tests come straight from the notes. Go to her help sessions. Ask questions, she's very nice. Make sure you know everything in the notes. It's clear she loves biology and teaching. I really liked this class!
She is a good teacher. She writes all her notes on the board so be sure to go to class. She uses mastering biology as extra credit so be sure to do mastering biology! She can be hilarious at times. Her tests are multiple choice and be sure to understand the basics of each chapter you cover.
Don't miss class because tests come directly from notes. She writes everything you need to know on the chalkboard and it's easy to copy along as she talks. Homework is optional for extra credit.
Sundermann is as good as it gets for Principles of Bio. She lets you do Masteringbio fro extra credit, gives outside help in test reviews, and has amazing SI lecturers. She is very helpful and if you put in the work you will get out what you earn. I could have studied more for her class and should have, but her tests are clear cut if you study.
You have to go to class in order to pass. Everything on the test either comes from the lectures or mastering biology questions. Also, sit in the front of the room because she uses a chalk board and when she erases it keeps a big white cloud and she just writes over it which is hard to see from the back of the room. Homework is extra credit.
Her lectures were easy to sit through. She draws out a lot of what she is talking about. Use MasteringBiology to get extra credit points. She went over every test to show what the right answers were. She explains things pretty well, but the lab helps as a grade cushion if you aren't doing well.
Dr. Sundermann is really a great professor. She writes her notes on the chalkboard and actually teaches and talks through the material unlike other professors. She loves biology and what she does so it makes you want to learn. Her tests come straight from the notes. Do all the mastering for E.C. Sometimes unclear or gets mixed up in what she says.
Dr. Sundermann is so great! compared to all the other biology teachers, I have to say she's the best! Everyone in my lab complained about their teachers, but I didn't have a single complaint! She's so adorable and sweet as well, and wants you to pass. I would definitely take her again.
This class is hard. She does an okay job going over everything briefly, but its such a big class she can't make sure you actually understand it. Very fast paced. If you miss a single day of class you miss a lot. You have to attend SI sessions to pass. Tests are really hard because you have to understand and know how to apply the things she taught
She's sweet. I would recommend sitting in the front because she writes on a chalkboard and its so hard to see from the back. 4 exams including final. Go to SI, it will help. Her exams are multiple choice and easiness 7/10. She gives 16-17 bonus points if you do mastering biology.
Sunderman is great, gives lots of extra credit and gives hints about what will be on tests during lectures. Her tests can be a little difficult, but as long as you go over the mastering biology and the notes you should do fine. Really not hard to do well, especially with the lab points factored in.
Really interesting class- Dr. Sundermann knows the parasites very well. You have to make a 92 in the class to have an A.
Great professor. She gives a ton of extra credit opportunities on Mastering Biology and writes down all of her notes on the blackboard. Exams are challenging, but if you study you'll do well.
Everyone on here said this class was not bad, but Sundermann is not a good teacher at all. She is so scatterbrained and writes on top of a big white cloud, goes so fast through her lectures and then wants to test you on the littlest details. I had to teach myself everything. Not good
Dr. Sunderman is one of my favorite professors. She obviously cares whether or not her students succeed. The is no need to look at the text book. It's very doable if you attend class, go to SI, and put forth effort from the start. The last one is important because the final is not worth much more than the four exams, so it won't save a poor grade.
Dr. Sundermann is really great. I attended SI sessions every now and then (usually one before the tests and the test review ones) and did great. DO YOUR MASTERING BIOLOGY FOR EXTRA CREDIT. Tests are pretty straightforward if you review your lecture notes well, and she writes on the board everything you need. I didn't open the text book once.
Do the Mastering Biology for extra credit and go to all the lectures and you can do fine. She gives 4 lecture exams and a cumulative final. During lectures, she writes on the board with you, so write EVERYTHING down. Also, sit near the front because she writes messy at times and on chalk board. I did not use my book at all. Take her if you can!
Sundermann gets excited and goes fast sometimes. Try to sit towards the front because she writes on a chalkboard & it's hard to read, which was honestly the most difficult part of the class for me. Go to SI or ask her if you are confused on anything, DO THE MASTERING BIO, and you'll do fine. Tests are 40 mult choice, and final was 100.
Loved. This. Class. Sundermann is great. Her teaching style is easy to follow and if you show up and pay attention you'll be fine. She's also very helpful in office hours and is willing to answer any questions. I would very much recommend taking her if at all possible!
If you think you can skip this class just because she doesn't take attendance, this isn't the class for you. She goes over really difficult to understand material and taking notes is very important. Her writing on the chalkboard can be hard to understand sometimes but just listen to what she verbally say instead. BEWARE: this is a difficult class!
Dr. Sundermann is one of Auburn's best as far as Biology is concerned. Her class is always early, but she makes lectures interesting. She explains all course material clearly, and her tests come straight from the notes in lecture. Note: do the MasteringBiology extra credit for her class, it will save your grade. Loved her and her class--meet her.
Dr. Sundermann is amazing! All the material you need to know will be covered in class, so don't bother buying the textbook. She gives out around 20 extra credit points, so as long as you do those assignments the class isn't hard at all! Make sure you get the notes from someone else if you skip, because all the test material comes from lectures.
Dr. Sundermann is a great professor. If you go to class, take good notes, and study well, you can easily get A's, I never made below a 95 on a test in there. She's very available to talk if you have questions about the material and is always more than happy to clear things up for you, which is always helpful. One of the best professors at Auburn.
This class is awful. She writes her notes on a chalk board and it's terribly unorganized. Her SI is better at explaining the material than she is. She draws way too much on the board. Her tests are almost nothing like the material we go over in class.
Awful teacher. She does a horrible job explaining during her lectures. I actually ended up dropping the class and retaking it with another professor. Find another professor if possible.
I loved taking biol1020 with Sundermann. Must be in class to copy notes. She writes them all on chalkboard and erases quickly, so be ready to write fast. If you know your notes, you know the exam. I didn't even take my book out of the shrink wrap and made A's on every exam.
She was awful. This class put me in a headlock from August 16 and didn't let me up for air until December 9th. I still have flashbacks like Nam and wake up in a cold sweat at night when thinking about it.
There are no grades other than tests, but she doesn't enter them until the end of the semester. Extra credit is available and easy and good review for each test. She's funny during lectures and teaches in a way thats easy to understand, but it's a lot of information and requires lots of studying.
I loved Sunderman. Her lectures were very clear and she was aware that the material was difficult but was willing to explain if you asked questions. Take good notes and you will pass. She is a very fair grader. She is available after class and holds study sessions before and after every test to go over test material. She is very sweet.
I loved Dr. Sundermann's class, but a lot of people didn't like her. I thought she was very helpful and she gives you outlines for each chapter which help you to study. Tests are fairly easy as long as you know those outlines. She offers a good bit of bonus which can really help your grade. Overall really enjoyed her!!
I loved Sundermann! Her lectures were always interesting and she really cares about how you do in the class. She has review sessions before and after the tests to help you understand the material. The class is tough, but there is enough extra credit to do really well.
She is great! Cares about her students and makes class easy to pay attention to
Dr. Sundermann is one of the best professors I've had, and I'm a senior. Yes, her tests are detailed, and yes, you are required to know a lot of material. If you are a pre-professional major, this is a good thing. Take detailed notes and study all of them. I wish I could have had her for Biology because she's a great teacher.
I enjoyed her lectures but the tests were difficult. If you actually want to learn the material covered then take this professor. She may be more difficult than other professors, but its worth it in the long-run.
One of my favorite teachers I have had at Auburn. Her parasitology course is INCREDIBLY interesting & she is a great lecturer. It is a tedious course though in that you have a lot of quizzes and the class covers a ton of material. Lab is easy. It just sucks because I got a 90.5 but in her class you have to get an 92 to receive an A (-___-).
I LOVED Sundermann's Parasitology!! If you are pre-vet/med, you NEED to take this class. Yes, her exams are extremely detailed but the information is fairly straightforward because she makes the lectures very interesting! Lab was great as well. Extra credit is offered a lot so an A is attainable. I couldn't stop talking about this class- loved it!
Sundermann is by far the best choice for biology professors. She cares a lot about what she does and is a very nice lady. She is always ready to help and does it with a smile on her face. Be sure to do the mastering biology that is assigned because uses some of the questions on it for test questions; it also gives you extra credit.
Professor Sunderman is a great lecturer and easy to listen to. If you don't understand something while taking notes, make sure to ask her about it before the tests. If you take detailed notes in class and study them you do not need to read the textbook.
She has guided notes online that her lectures follow specifically, and her tests are straight from the notes. She's funny and loves her subject, which makes her good at explaining it. Tests aren't hard, very possible to be successful in this class
Didn't really hate or love this class. She doesn't take attendance but if you don't go to class you won't have the notes for the tests. She let's you complete Mastering Biology for extra credit and if you do all of them it really adds up. Not necessarily an easy A but if you put in the work you should be okay.
She's one of the better biology professors at Auburn but if bio isn't your best subject its gonna be tough. You have to sit at the front of the classroom to see the board because she uses a chalkboard and is extremely messy and all over the place. She goes really fast through concepts but THE S.I. SESSIONS ARE WHAT WILL SAVE YOU.
Dr. Sundermann is an excellent teacher! She is super funny and very nice. Her class is on the more difficult side but if you pay attention, take notes, and do the extra work that she gives you then you can do good no problem.
She is a good teacher even though her lectures can put you to sleep. She explains things very well. Do every single Mastering Biology homework because it helps you study, plus you get extra credit. Print off her canvas worksheets and do them to study. She gives a review before each test where you can ask any questions, which is so nice. Go!
Dr. Sundermann is so sweet and really enjoys teaching. Her lectures are very good and gives you all the information you need to know for the test. Tests are all multiple choice and very easy. Mastering biology gives extra credit and helps you for her tests. I would definitely take her again, and I highly recommend her.
Dr. Sundermann is a very good teacher for Auburn Biology. Her lectures are easy to understand. We had four tests plus the final, and the MasteringBiology was extra credit. She was really nice, easy to approach, and even give review sessions and would go over tests after everybody had taken them. Tests were lecture only and we never used the book.
Dr. Sunderman is the nicest lady. She teaches lectures by writing on the blackboard so just copy her notes and you're good. Gives a ton of extra credit that is really great for studying and her test are very straightforward multiple choice. I read the book a little, but you could probably manage without it. Definitely take her.
I remember taking her for BIOL 1020 as a freshman and not liking her teaching style or her 8AM lecture. But for Parasitology, I love her! She is my favorite professor by far. She is clearly very passionate about the subject and she always shares her stories throughout her career with us! Take her class!!
Dr. Sundermann's class structure is so helpful especially if you're a freshman in your first semester. She doesn't require a ton of homework like other professors and her lectures are super helpful and clarify things from the textbook really well.
Her lectures are never that helpful to me and I get much better notes from the book. She goes too fast and her tests are hard. She does give a good amount of extra credit, but the only other grades are tests.
Easy tests and homework is for extra credit
Tests are multiple choice and are pretty straightforward. Mastering Biology is for extra credit and it really adds up so do them all! The class consists of 4 exams and one final for a total of 500 points (not weighted). Sunderman explains everything in her lectures and provides lots of optional worksheets and outlines for extra practice.
Dr. Sundermann only tests on the material she writes on the board in class. Tests are all multiple choice, some difficult questions. However, if you truly understand the material and study you will do fine. Mastering Biology is extra credit and really adds up- around 50 points added to a total of 500 at the end of the semester. 4 tests and a final.
Dr. Sundermann is a very sweet lady. All of the test material is things that she writes on the board, so be prepared to take quality notes. Also, do the mastering biology assignments. There are only four opportunities for points inside the class, but if you do the homework assignments, she will tack on an additional 45 points, so do them.
Dr. Sundermann is probably the best choice for any biology class she teaches. She is the only professor who truly lectures. You don't have to read the book in order to understand what is going on. Listen in lecture and you will be fine. It's not an easy A but if you get less than a B you just didn't try at all. She's also hilarious!
Dr. Sundermann is a great professor. She really knows her stuff and is passionate about biology. She gives many chances for extra credit, which really helps offset a bad test grade. While attendance is not mandatory, it would be really difficult to do well if you did not attend. Didn't use the textbook except once or twice. 4 tests and one final.
I had Dr. Sundermann in my first semester of college ever and I never felt out of my depth in her class. She is very enthusiastic about the subject and does a good job explaining the topics. Her class is lecture heavy so be attentive and attend class.
Sundermann is the best 1020 teacher at Auburn, hands down. She gives so much extra credit and not a single other 1020 teacher gives any EC. I haven't been to class in 3 weeks and still get high B's on all the exam and end with an A in the class due to EC. Gives lots of resources to study. Highly recommend!
Dr. Sundermann's BIOL1020 class seems to be much easier compared to the other Biology professors at Auburn. Her tests are based only on notes from lecture so there is no reason to use the textbook. If you attend lectures and study for a few days before the exam, this should be an easy A!!
Dr. Sundermann is a great teacher! She is really funny during lecture, and teaches in a way that the material is easy to understand and easy to study. Her tests are very fair and based only on lecture notes. She gave extra credit for Mastering Biology which made it easy to get an A in the class.
Dr. Sundermann is a wonderful professor, though she can seem a little scatter brained at times. You really don't have to go to class to do well, I didn't learn much that I didn't already know from my 9th grade Bio class. She gives a TON of extra credit, but she did say at the end of this semester that she would be cutting back on that some.
Dr. Sunderman is wonderful! She is very nice and a great teacher. Her tests can get pretty specific but they are fair and everything you need to know she either writes on the board during her lectures or posts online on a powerpoint. If you study all the material she gives you, an A is definitely attainable. Also there is extra credit.
professor Sundermann is the best professor Ive taken at Auburn thus far. If you have the opportunity to, take her! Shes so cute and funny and sweet. The bio lab and bio lecture recently got separated into two different classes and she gave mastering biology as extra credit to make up for it and it helped a lot. Writes down notes with you, for you
Sundermann is a great professor who has interesting lectures and always offers help outside of class. She has review sessions before exams and has sessions to go over them afterwards. There are 5 exams including the final but gives MasteringBiology as extra credit, which can bump you up a whole letter grade. I would definitely recommend her!
Dr. Sundermann is such an incredible professor! She writes out everything you need on the board during lectures, and posts lecture outlines and practice problems on canvas for extra help. I never made below a 98 on a test in her class, and only studied from the notes like 2 days before the exam. She gives a TON of extra credit points. Easy A.
Dr. Sundermann tests are strictly off her notes. She lectures way too fast and expects you to memorize her scribbling on the board. When you go to her office hours, she will question why you don't understand instead of being helpful. I don't suggest her as a teacher. You are graded off the tests only, mastering biology is the "extra credit".
Never went to her lecture, but her tests were pretty straightforward. I studied the book and had no problem with her tests. Plus, she gives a lot of extra credits.
DO THE EXTRA CREDIT! Will bring you up a whole letter grade, tests are hard but some questions come straight from the notes, writes notes on the board so be prepared for a lot of note taking, however some test questions come from nowhere, overall A is very possible
She is great!! She lectures a lot, but writes everything on the board so she goes slow. It is very easy to keep track of what she says. All "homework" is for extra credit, and each assignment is basically worth 2 test points. The tests can be hard, but not if you study lecture notes and stuff; with the extra credit, it is super easy to make an A.
She writes all the notes on a white board so you always have time to copy everything down. You can't ever skip class though because nothing is online. Studying was hard, but she has chapter outlines & worksheets on canvas that improved my scores so much! She is not nice outside of class, but holds study sessions before each test to ask questions.
Is good for having a big lecture class, just make sure to take notes and pay attention because she moves very fast, but does write all the notes down so that helps.
Only bad part about this class is that a 92 is an A. Otherwise, Dr. Sundermann is probably one of the most passionate teachers about the material that I have met. She's devoted her life to parasitology, and her knowledge comes through in the presentation and her excitement about the material. Would highly recommend taking the course.
Extra credit only!
Dr. Sundermann's notes are her scribbling on the board and she expects you to know everything about biology. The test are VERY hard and thats why she gives out so much extra points (36) through mastering biology because she knows you will need them. If you get the chance to take her, dont. I regret taking her, Bowling is the best BIO 1020 prof.
Dr. Sundermann is not a bad professor by any means. She lectures the whole class, gives TONS of extra credit, but her tests are the hardest I've ever taken. You're only grade is the 3 tests and final, as well as 36 extra credit points if you do the work (DO THEM!!!!!!!) This class was very hard for me, but a lot of people did well.
This woman has got to be the most difficult human being I have ever encountered in my life. She is very condescending and rude. If you ask her a VALID question she says things to make you feel inadequate. If you are a non traditional student and/or good at teaching yourself information DO NOT TAKE HER. The only plus is the extra credit.
Take notes on lectures. Tests are all that matter. Lots of extra credit. Doesn't round, but is fair. Study and you can get an A/B.
Dr. Sundermann is a great professor! She writes all of the notes on the board which is very helpful and she posts PowerPoints & outlines online. You do have to read the book and study a lot to do well, but I would highly recommend this class and professor.
Ms. Sundermann is an amazing professor. She will not test you on anything not mentioned in class and she does not take attendance. She basically has the entire textbook memorized so she isn't the best when it comes to asking for help because she makes you feel stupid. Grades include four tests and 36 extra credit points if you do mastering biology.
Sundermann is so kind and caring. I was very sick when I took her class, so I missed class (8am). I ended up with an 89.7, and she does not round up at all. Tests are fair, study your notes. Take good notes. Go to class. If you miss a class, get a friend to record and take notes for you. Do the extra credit, its very easy and is basically the test.
She's the best out of all the bio1020 profs I've heard of in terms of teaching in class. She writes down all the notes in lecture & explains them well. But, she has the hardest tests. The test material is all based on the notes, but the way she tests ur knowledge on it is crazy difficult. Also DO THE MB!! She gives abt 32 bonus pts worth of assign.
Only grades are 4 test, the final, and the extra credit mb. you dont retain too much info from class from her scribbles so its a lot of teaching yourself outside of class. Almost impossible to make an A considering her tests are based off lecture. She is also the only biol 1020 prof that doesnt do group test. I would recommend any other prof
Sundermann is a great teacher once you learn her teaching style. She writes on the board, and I recommend writing everything she writes. She has help sessions before every test which are so helpful. Although her tests are challenging, you are not tested over anything not mentioned in the lecture. She also gives out extra credit (around 30 points)!
Her lectures are very info packed and fast, but she tests in lecture material. Also if you do the online homework she gives extra credit (I got 40 extra points) so thats a life saver. Her lectures aren't boring and she is always available to help. I liked her a lot.
I would not recommend this class to anyone who wasn't naturally EXTREMELY smart. I am intelligent and a hard studier I put many hours into this course and I still never got a grade better than a D. All my friends in the course with me had to drop due to its difficulty. There re only 4 grades which are the four exams this class made me drop my major
The only thing I can say is to DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. Your grade only consists of the 4 tests, final, and bonus. She moves very fast and it's hard to keep up because her handwriting isn't the greatest. She's the only bio professor who doesn't do group quizzes. Many people dropped and some changed their major because of her.
Best of the 1020 profs. Tests are so easy if you just go to class. Dont really need to study bc she explains things so well in lecture. Give a lot of extra credit and extra grade opportunities. Is so caring and willing to help you anytime. I would retake this class in a heartbeat extremely easy to make an a
I really enjoyed her class, and she has been one of my favorite biology professors. She makes the subject incredibly enjoyable, but her tests do not quite align with her teaching style. She asks very in-depth questions on the test, but in lecture she tends to focus solely on the basics of the topic. After you realize this, the class is much simpler
Great professor if you go to her lectures and actually take notes. First test is tough because her tests are more application questions and examples from the lectures, but after that it gets better. Gave 36 points of extra credit if you do the mastering biology. Total points class so easy to calculate your grade. Tough final, but overall good class
I went to class, took notes, studied, read the book, and got tutoring but it did not help. The tests were VERY specific and if you do not already have some background in biology from high school I would NOT recommend taking.
Sundermann is great. I reccommend going to her class every day and writing everything she writes. She never tests on anything she doesn't lecture on, and an important thing to study is examples/ things she writes after questions. Mastering biology boosts a whole letter grade so seriously do all of them. An A isn't easy but not impossible.
Sundermann expects a lot and her class is not easy, but she genuinely cares about her students. She hosts 2 study sessions before each test and a few after to review tests. She writes her notes on the board and really does her best to explain the material. I hadn't taken biology since 9th grade and was able to do well. Work hard and you'll be fine
She is probably the easiest of the bio 1020 teachers!! You will have to study for a long time before the test but as long as you study and go to class an a is achievable!! She has extra credit and that is what saved my grade, I would highly recommend doing it!! Shes honestly not that bad if you just study and work for it!!
Dr. S was fine, but nothing special . Its important to write everything she writes. Her tests seemed more in depth than the way she instructed, but theyre doable. Be ready to study and pay attention. DO THE MASTERING BIOLOGY. Only grades are tests. She uses a point system, so those MB points are VERY helpful. Overall not a bad choice.
So Dr. S is a very sweet woman, but, she will make you WORK for your grade. I typed everything this woman said bc she said "there will not be any test ?s that cannot be found in your notes from lecture". Nope. 92 is an A in her class which is just unnecessary. She did give 36 bonus points which will bump you a letter grade but take another prof.
Loves her students almost as much as she loves parasitology. She cares about how much you learn, and even though her lectures are tough she is quite funny and will keep you interested.
I don't know why Dr. Sundermann's rating is so low; she's amazing! Maybe it's because I had her for parasitology (her field) and her enthusiasm made the difference. Her lectures are clear, exams are not bad, and she provides so much bonus opportunity. I would easily sit through 2 hours of lecture if I could, she really makes it enjoyable.
Dr. Sundermann should definitely have a higher rating. I didn't take her for general bio, but Parasitology was one of the best classes I have ever taken at Auburn. She really cares about the material and makes the lectures very interesting and easy to follow. The tests are long, but if you know the notes she gives well, then you can make an A.
Dr. Sundermann was the best professor I've had at Auburn. She truly cares about the material and her students, and that shows in her lectures. There are lots of assignments with quizzes almost every week, but it honestly helps to keep you on top of the material. She also gives tons of extra credit in class and in lab to help out your grade.
Dr. Sundermann was amazing. Parasitology was my favorite class ever taken at Auburn and probably will always be my favorite class. Dr. Sundermann knows so much about the material and is extremely passionate about it.
Dr. Sundermann is one of the funniest professors I had at Auburn. She is so caring, genuine, and down to earth. Parasitology isn't easy, but it's very interesting and enjoyable! If you can take this for an elective in your major, do it! Pretty tricky to get into as a junior.
I loved Dr. Sundermann! By far one of my favorite classes at Auburn, even though it was very challenging and tests were hard. It was very clinical-based which I believe will be helpful in my first year of vet school. I loved the labs, too!
