By far my favorite prof! Makes class interesting and he is hilarious! Newest version of textbook is MANDATORY! I cannot stress this enough as the final exam is 90% based on the textbook and only 10% of what was seen in class! Overall, class is fun and he takes time to ensure his students are understanding and most of all succeeding.

Excellent teacher ! Stimulating lectures! Gives you candies when you go to his office! He is really funny and cool ! He's just cool. He's a boss !

Super engaging prof with easy tests. Material is easy but the final is 45% of your mark and completely based on the textbook. ISPR was sort of annoying- make sure you get the in person one done early because they can run out of spots, but a nice grade boost.

AMAZING PROF! He cracks up a joke every second, I love it! I had him for 3 hours lectures and they just went by so quickly. I really got out of my comfort zone and participated a lot more in his class. I was always excited to go to his classes. I wouldn't recommend him if you struggle in french because he does talk fast. WOULD TAKE AGAIN!!!

He's hilarious. I enjoy going to his lectures because everyone is laughing the hole time. The only problem though is that he doesn't really 'teach' he only gives example of what the book is saying. He doesn't even do his own powerpoints. But overall, I strongly recommend him. Easy to study. If you just study the book you'll be totally fine.

He's by far my favorite teacher ever. You HAVE to take at least one class with him, he's just amazing. He understands his students more than anybody else. BUT his exams are kind of tough. Don't think you'll have a good grade just by understanding his lecture... you have to work for the good grade. Beside all of that, I adore him !!!

A great teacher that loves to teach. 3 hours goes by so fast with this teacher. His exams aren't that hard if you study and read the textbook. You have to read the textbook anyway for the final examen since it's only based on it. Take him if you have the chance, you won't regret it.

He's hilarious! I looked forward to his class because he's so funny. He spends most of the class giving examples, which was really nice. His exams are very fair, he uses a few questions from the textbooks but are all mostly from his notes. I got 100 on both midterms and on the final. It's easy to do well as long as you read the notes once.

He's a great prof. As a french immersion student who wasn't used to his accent, at times it was hard to understand what he was saying, but overall it wasn't a big issue. ALL exams were multiple choice and not difficult. Getting a good grade shouldn't be hard, I only barely studied the night before every exam and still got a C+ in the course.

Mr Fortin is truly one of the best college profs I've ever had. Lectures are interesting, he keeps you entertained while teaching you the material that is rather easy. Tests are pretty forward mcqs but the final is kinda hard if you havent kept up with the textbook material.

He's very funny. However some of his jokes are often pushed too war and could easily hurt or make others feel dumb. He however teaches very well and its great because you can tell he's passionate so it makes it so much better to learn. He also gives great examples that help understand things easily.

He really makes an effort to make a connection with his students. Really entertaining lectures with lots of examples. He explains the concepts very well and in depth, although for a better grade (especially on the final) you definitely should read the book.

Christophe is by far the best prof Ive encountered at UOttawa he is so funny and cares about his students. I had him for a 7-10pm class on a Tuesday and everyone always showed up and participated. He knows how to keep students interested. The Final is solely based on the book but if you go to class he gives some pretty useful pointers. Easy A.

Christophe is an amazing prof! I took this course as a French Immersion student and found his lectures very easy to follow. The first two midterms were based off of his notes but the final exam was solely based off of the textbook so read up. His sense of humour and stories really make the course very enjoyable.

Fortin is an amazing prof who seems to love what he does. The course itself doesn't need the textbook but the School of Psychology quizzes and the final exam is entirely based on the textbook so in that sense, you need it. I would take one of his classes again in a heartbeat!

He's so funny and his mid terms are super easy. The final exam is mandated by the school of psychology so he can't control that but overall a really great class.

He's very interesting! He makes jokes and asks for volunteers to demonstrate certain examples of what we learn in class (ex: we were learning about a person's short term memory capacity so he brought the game Simon and asked a student to play in front of the class). He also shows interesting videos sometimes to support what he's teaching.

10/10 prof if you're taking PSY1101 I recommend trying to get into one of his classes (they get waitlisted fast), his lectures are engaging and interesting and he clearly loves to teach. The evaluations are fair if you listened in class and you studied you will do fine. Definitely one of the best profs I have had in uni!

He is passionate about the subject. If you have questions he always takes the time to clarify them after class or during office hours. His lectures are amazing and very humoristic, but can be onfensive to some people as he jokes about certain subjects. If you're someone who doesn't get offended easy, like me, you'll love him as a professor.

Records and posts lectures to bright space which is a big help come exam time. Teaching style is very effective and engaging, an easy pass if you stay on top of the material. Very helpful professor. His expectations are clear (and fair) and consistently provides helpful feedback and examples in order to help the students learn the material. He emails the classes with extra practice quizzes in order to ensure every student has the opportunity to do well and posts all lectures and material online.

Had a super fun class with this prof and I learned tons! I highly recommend him, that is if you have a good sense of humour. He tens to make a few dirty jokes here and there.

Good prof but theres so much to learn and if you dont know everything by heart you will fail or not have the best grade. Be sure to read the textbook chapters because the quizzes are specifically on the chapters and so is the final exam. His PowerPoints dont go in dept on certain subjects like the book, so you have to learn a lot for the final.

Dr. Fortin is energetic and funny. Second midterm was a little difficult, but unfair questions were taken out. Recipe for success: study a couple of minutes every day. This course is a lot of memorization, cramming won't work. And keep up on the readings!

Fortin was fantastic! His lectures were interesting, and covered the material that was on the midterms and finals. However, the faculty writes the final exam, so it is solely based on the textbook. It wasn't a super hard final, it was comparable to the midterms.

Great prof, took 1501 with him too. Really animated and likes to joke around. Midterms were easy especially with the textbook. He had some health complications this semester and missed out for a few weeks. In return he made the final easier and changed the grading scheme a bit. Nevertheless would take a class with him again.

This prof made me switch from a science program to psychology lmao he's a gem. So nice, cares about his students and loves to interact with them. We had 4 quizzes that were pretty easy and a finale + top hat participation point + research participation credit. Lectures are super interesting, i'd recommend this class to literally everyone.

He truly is a great professor, passionate about his subjects and the lectures are pre-recorded videos yet they are interesting. I am really bad in multiple choices so in each class iv'e taken of his I always finish with a C or B-, but I am really interested in his lessons. If you do good in tests, you will love this class

Professor Fortin was awesome!! He's really funny and personable. All the lectures were prerecorded so we could watch them whenever. The quizzes weren't made by him, it was the psych department, so they were kind of hard. I studied his notes so hard and didn't always get a great mark because it was hard to know what to expect.

Great guy, amazing lectures. But lots of reading. You can get away with only doing the readings though cause he only clarifies them during lectures. Overall one of the best psych profs uottawa has to offer.

I took this class in fall 2021 fully online. The class was asynchronous, but the teacher was available once a week to answer questions. His exams were mostly based on the presentations he posted. Be careful to read thoroughly the textbook has he asks specific questions from the textbook. All in all, easy A if you take good notes.

Professeur Fortin was by far my favorite professor. It's the only class that I didn't skip a lecture. He made his lectures go by so fast because he was so funny. It's a pretty easy class. Only need to go off of his PowerPoints for the midterms but need to read the manual for the final exam.

If you are a French Immersion, Sciences student, this is definitely a great introductory course. The best way to study for this course is to READ from the Textbook, despite claims that the presentations should be suffice.

Prof Fortin may come off as intimidating, and a little arrogant but if you actually get to know him he's so sweet and considerate. He really cares about his students, especially if you ask questions, participate and show genuine interest in what he's teaching (duh!). Class had 3 tests and a group project. You can definitely do well! Just try.

Prof Fortin is an amazing professor, he is very funny which made me look forward to going to his class. The slides are pretty empty but he only grades you on that for the midterms. The exam is made by the board of psychology, but if you study along the study guide, you'll do great. The textbook is expensive and very long, but overall a great class.

Asynchronous, 2 noncumulative mc midterms (25%, 30%). 1 final (45%) which is mc + some short answers that he gives beforehand so you can prepare (the short answers are on the previous material, the mc are not cumulative), all online and super easy. I love this prof. Powerpoints are pretty much all you need for success. Explains well, great human.

Learned a lot in this class. PSY1501 isnt the easiest elective ive had, but the professors videos are easy to digest. if you need to take a psych class, take it with him. If youre looking for an elective, pick an easier one.

I'm not a fan of asynchronous classes but it was my second time having Dr Fortin as my prof and he's so funny! He made the subject relatable and easy to follow. Exams are all multiple choice questions, except for the final but he gave the questions in advance. I had to delay my final for personal reasons and he was so understanding! 100% recommend!

LOVE this prof. especially for french immersion students this is your prof. speaks slowly, explians everything in easy french and multiple times. love him. both of my classes with him were asychronus. both had 2 online midterms and an in person final.

Perfect prof for french immersion students. had him twice forst year and second. hos questions on tests are a bit long and advanced. class asynchonus, two online midterms and one in person final. love him super fun lectures and great slides!

Best psych teacher. Makes psych even more interesting. Two midterms were online and just read the tophat before the final and you will be fine. Try to take him for all your psych classes hes amazing.

J'ai adoré le cours avec Dr. Fortin! La matière est tellement bien expliquée et allégée par les anecdotes du professeur. Par contre, ce n'est pas nécessairement un cours facile comme plusieurs le disent, il faut mettre beaucoup d'efforts. Je vous invite à prendre ce cours très intéressant, j'en ai beaucoup appris :)

Je l'ai eu en cours d'intro aussi et il rend tjrs la matière intéressante et engageante bien que le cours soit en ligne. C'est vrmt un bon prof, dynamique, organisé, et donne bcp d'explications, bcp trop des fois... Je regarde ses vidéos à une vitesse de x2 car elles peuvent être trèeeees longues. Mis à part ça, je le reprendrais sans problème!

Really sweet & funny prof, his lectures (videos) are pretty entertaining to watch. I wish he specified which studies/pages in the manual were important for the exams, but other than that, great prof. 2 midterms were online (over Brightspace) and the final was in person. He allowed a cheat sheet for the final.

I really liked this class, but I wish it was taught in person instead of online. You have to work hard to understand the main ideas, but the professor always gave us study guides to help. His lectures were interesting and funny. I would definitely recommend him as a professor for psychology classes.

He's a good prof, always there to help. But his exams pull out the smallest details from the book that are irrelevant to the material, there is just so much to memorize for this class it's a bit excessive and unnecessary to pull out those details.

The prof is very funny and his anecdotes help you understand the material a lot! I just wish the class was in person instead of online because I found that it being asynchronous meant I fell behind easily. But if you have to/want to take this course, Professor Fortin is great!

Was a mandatory class for me , so I kind of regret taking it online cuz you really had to read top hat entirely to really understand. The prof is really nice and answers his students questions clearly. The class itself is hard for an introduction class, a lot of reading and memorizing. If you read top hat and do a lot of practice exercise, ur good.

This class is all about the TopHat textbook, which you have to read on your own. So if you like reading a lot on your own, this is for you, otherwise, I don't recommend this as an elective cause it will be more demanding than you think at first.

Very nice prof

Love this prof. His videos are super entertaining but a little slow (I put them in 1.5x speed). You do have to pay for Top Hat (about 174$) but there are a lot of practice questions after each module to help. Exams are multiple choice but on a lockdown browser.
