Awesome teacher!! He explains in way you can understand, and he doesn't make you feel stupid. He is laid back, and gives you points for showing up for class. Great teacher you wont waste your money.
He is a wonderful teacher, he was one of my favorites because of how connected he is with his students and his interest and how positive he was toward the subject. I would recommend to take his courses for math as much as possible.
He is very helpful...if you have a question ask him and he will go out of his way to help you and to make sure you know the material.
Bailey is super nice, a really cool teacher! However he assigns a LOT of hw, and expects you to do it all even though he admits to only looking at a few of the problems. If you're willing to give up 5 points per hw assignment than you can skip it, but he does at least assign work that is pertinent to what is being studied in class
Really nice teacher and very understanding. Lets you make up late work or missed quizzes. Does assign alot of HW, exams and quizzes can be hard but he is willing to help.
Probably one of the best math teachers I've ever had. He's really good at breaking down each type of problem and explaining it without going too slow or too fast. I would highly recommend him!
He is an awesome teacher!!! He's super helpful and he takes the time to explain everything. He may assign a lot of homework, but as long as you do it you will know what's going on. Even to this day, I seek help from him for another math course and he's willing to help me. :)
Awesome teacher. I was really worried about this class as I didn't do too well in 481. Mr. Bailey's able to break things down so well and takes the time to explain things well. He's very patient and most of all doesn't make you feels stupid even if you ask questions he's already answered. This professor made math fun.
Summer course math which is a rapid moving class. Info was alot to obtain but bailey does a great job explaining and helping you learn the material. I recommend this professor for any cls he is teaching. Nice guy, fair exams and assigns good amt of hw but it's needed to learn math
I would highly recommend him as a teacher. Very helpful and makes math understandable and he makes sure you understand the material before moving on. Theres homework but if you do the homework and take good notes you will do really well on the tests and quizzes.
Very helpful and makes sure students understand the material before continuing to the next section. Mr. Bailey teaches math in a way that everyone can understand. Excellent math teacher.
The best math teacher I have ever had, he makes sure everyone follows him and he is very relate able.I would highly recommend him
Excellent. Knew exactly what he was talking about and knew how to teach it to us. He's, most likely, the best math teacher I have ever had.
I am not very good at math in general, so obviously the material was hard for me, but Chris was so wonderful. I literally came in 2 hours before each class, and he was always very patient, friendly, and willing to help. He is also very passionate and knowledgable, which makes you want to learn. Also easy-going, and fun. I am going to miss him! :')
Awesome teacher. very helpful. super laid back about h.w if you didnt finish it he still gave you the points as long you did part of it. he helps you on the exams and quizzes if you forget stuff he reminds you how to do it. would take more math classes from him if i could.
Awesome teacher. All you have to do is pay attention and do the work and you'll come out of there with an A or B.
Chris is the best Linear teacher ever! He is pretty laid back and humble, but a little picky when it comes to grading. However, once you pick up long his grading style it isn't too bad :) He always checks for understanding and gets excited about math!
Fabulous teacher He makes sure that you understand the topic before moving on Really explains in detail the math problems. I would take again I received an A. He''s very nice and helpful Would take again And would recommend Easy A if you pay attention take notes and do homework
Best math teacher I have ever had. Takes the time to help and make sure the student understands the material.
I love professor Bailey. Favorite math teacher. Out of all the math teachers I've had at COD and in middle school and high school Bailey is the best I've ever had. He really tries to make everything clear and will help you if you go see him during office hours. I'm sure I would have gotten an A if I had done all the homework.
Bailey is by far the best math teacher at cod. Math was not my strong point but he was very willing and helpfull when it came to the later chapters which where kind of hard. This man loves to teach math and will help you if you ask, the class is not hard at all just show up and do the work. He is a sweety but dont take advantage of his kindness.
After receiving C's in both calc II&III, I was nervous about how hard this class would be. I ended up with an A with Bailey because he is an AMAZING teacher! Lectures are easy to follow and are exciting because he exudes his love for math. He rounded up my grade to an A bc he saw the effort I put in to learn the material. GREAT guy would take again
Great teacher and really laid back guy.
I think Bailey could explain the internet to my grandma. There are always 4 or 5 impossible questions on exams. The rest are mostlely ok. There is a lot of hmwk but if you go to office hours he will go over all of them with you. And he wants you to do well. Sometimes talks over your head but his excitement is contagious .
My sister and I both enjoyed Bailey for his his hilarious jokes. But he's confusing during lectures. We had to go to a science professor to pass 0481 the 4th time. His 0482 class isn't any easier. Ten of our classmates dropped out. So we have to get help from science majors 247. We were at a C- after three tries, but now a D. It's very hard.
Funny guy and was helpful for other courses, such as Criminology and Philosophy. But it's impossible to complete 217 problems on time and study for the next exam. I was told to drop Criminology and Philosophy in order to pass his class, but that didn't improve much because everything is fast paced. My 15 years of math wasn't never this confusing.
Awesome guy when not talking about math. He loves sport conversations. But he expects you to finish all homework problems, but only checks two. You will get full points for wrong answers. But in order to prepare us for 0482, he includes a page of 0482 questions on each test even though we haven't learned it yet. He needs to teach sports instead.
Unfortunately I learned after midterms how tough this class really was;nonetheless I pushed through and gave it my best, after all that's all one can do. My suggestion to you reading this don't skip class , do your homework and, definitely ask questions. Good luck!
you have a quiz or test every Friday. the quizzes/tests are NOT hard IF you study for them.
He crams most of the material together only showing one example of each type of problem we will see on the test. This semester he called off on my class at least four times. My advice to anyone who takes this class is to go to the math resource center everyday cause you will definitely need the help.
He an Awesome teacher will help you no matter what.
Bailey not only tires to be funny in class he's very awkward when it comes to the lectures sometimes. Sometimes he'll stop all of us at the end of class just to say nothing and doesn't realize he was about to say something when nothing comes out. Very hard. Had TONS of HW and still couldn't improve even when i did try. I ended up dropping his class
Chris is disorganized but makes up for it fairly. Lost HW assignment then gave us all 100% for it. gave us a few wrong quizzes since he confused material that was on them, didn't count most of them. Overall, very knowledgable guy and willing to go the extra mile to help you out. At the end it's all up to you. Tough class despite being lower level.
Imagine getting homework such as 2+2 or even 3+4. You get all the answers right, yay you! You show up for the quiz and it reads sinx -tan(46). This is what it's like taking this class. Now, you have a test for Ch. 3 and he gives you a study guide! But wait! It's all Ch. 2 because you gotta have it down. Do yourself a favor and find another teacher.
Overall Chris is a solid teacher. But during class he rambles and goes over stuff you don't need to know yet. You need to pay attention bc he could be talking about one thing and then you zone back in and you have no idea what's going on . He's funny and caring . Doesn't always explain projects fully .
He is an amazing guy. I like him as a person. He came from an outback town in Wisconsin and now a professor. Yet his class needs work. He is a bit unorganized, forgets his book, makes mistakes during lectures. The worst thing is, the test are ridiculous long. Not hard, long. You can understand the material but if you have to think twice, its wrong.
A funny and interesting guy. The way he organized his class made it really hard to keep up. It was very fast paced and the tests were very hard. Even when I understood everything in the homework there would be impossible questions on the tests. Only take this class if you are ready to work. I got a B but studied and worked really hard for it.
He's a good teacher but Exams and quizzes are extremely hard. You have a quiz once a week and a Test the week after you finish a Chapter. (5 chapters covered but only 4 test.) TEST ARE HARD!!! He makes question very difficult compared to the HW. You really need to understand material to do good. And know your Trig extremely well.
He made sense of most of the material in the book. Grades are heavily reliant on tests. He's a good guy, easy to get along with and always available to ask questions. It's most likely the course material that made me not want to give him a 5.
Chris is a patient, caring, and brilliant professor. He's more than willing to take extra time to make sure his students understand the material. I have had extreme difficulty with math my entire life and for the first time I feel like I have a chance at passing.
This class is awful. The teacher has no structure, dosent offer study guides or extra credit, and grades very harshly. You have a quiz once a week, tons of homework that adds to almost no points at the end of the semester. The class should be easy, but the Bailey makes it almost impossible to pass.
only con of this class is he dosn't let us use calculator. i don't think that's a big deal because we rarely required it.
He's a nice enough guy. Very easy to talk to about non-math related things. However, he appears to make frequent mistakes during class, which really throws everybody off. He also over-explains things and makes it difficult to understand the material. Chris never seemed to enforce the attendance policy either.
His class is manageable as long as you show up and do all the homework. And do the homework! Because thats what the weekly quizzes are based on. Really nice guy who does try to make lecture interesting and fun. But he will make you earn your grade.
Professor Bailey knows how to run a class. The teaching is clear, the homework is manageable, and the quizzes have no curve balls. This is not an easy A but don't worry because you'll actually learn the math you need to know. besides that, Bailey is consistent and I found that I was the the only one to blame for any bad scores on quizzes or exams.
My best math professor in USA that I ever have
I loved the structure of this class. Everything is clear cut and by the book. He didnt take homework for credit but you definitely need to do it to pass. He spent an adequate amount of time on each section and is very easy going. He definitely tries to help you as much as he can.
This is a class you will definitely have to work hard for if geometry (or math in general) isn't your strong point. Bailey is a nice person, just a very unorganized professor. His notes aren't super helpful, so I definitely recommend doing the homework and chapter reviews at the end of each chapter in the book and getting a tutor.
Very good professor, lectures are well organized and he focuses on what's important to learn. Somehow makes math lectures enjoyable and has a good sense of humor. Very fair grading. If you pay attention, asks questions, and keep up on the homework you will do well in his class.
Mr. Bailey is one of the best professor I ever took at COD. He is always ready to help you get better at Math. His lectures are somewhat paced at first, but as the course goes along you get used to it. If you show interest in the class then you will definitely earn a good grade. Good luck!!!
Chris was one of the best professors I have had, and while he grades hard, his teaching style is one of the best and clearest I've seen which makes understanding and learning hard math much easier. You can tell that he is very knowledgeable and passionate about math, which makes learning much more enjoyable, as well as his hilarious sense of humor.
Do yourself a favor and take advantage of everything the learning commons, YouTube and homework has to offer to get a full understanding of what is taught to you especially since there is minimal calculator use allowed. Hes nice make sure you ask questions or he will move onto the next subject or talk to him after class. Don't wait last minute!
If you take MATH 0465 with Bailey, prepare for quizzes every week, and exams on material that is barely covered. Not a terrible professor, though. All homework is online and takes unlimited attempts. Fair grader as well.
I wish I could take the rest of my math classes with him. Hes a really nice guy and always makes sure to explain everything until you get it, hes very laid back and easy to talk to after class. You have quizzes every Friday, three long exams and three big projects but they were all easy if you paid attention in class and participated.
Had him when Corona struck. He never responds to emails, lecture barely prepares you for the homework, homework barely prepares you for the quiz and the quiz barely prepares you for the test. Probably the most "tolerable" math professor at cod but that doesn't say much because they are all terrible.
Worst Math professor I've ever come across. Worst professor I've ever come across. He can't teach. Doesn't give you ANY feedback. Doesn't respond to your emails. His lectures are hard to follow, he won't clear you questions if you have any. He tries to rush through the material and could care less about the students. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!!!!
There are some professors who really care about their students and will do anything to help them succeed. Then you have professors like Chris Bailey who could care less about their students. He's awful. Dodge him like a bullet. Doesn't grade properly or on time, doesn't answer questions or provide feedback. Ignores your emails. The audacity!
His lecture is easy, quiz and exam is next level. His example and lecture never appear on the test or quiz. Not like other math professor I have taken before, the example and lecture they taught me in the class, they appear in the test or quiz. Anyway for your credit and GPA, DO NOT take his class.
Online was kind of a mess when COVID started although maybe it is better now. I ended up having to learn all of the material on my own. He didn't grade most of the exams until the last week of the semester but at that point all of the damage had been done.
HE IS THE BEST!!! Lectures are amazing due to his character. Content is very hard but he makes it seem easy; make sure you do the homework for your own sake! No complaints.
I have taken Chris for both Calc 2/3 and overall am happy with him. He is very charismatic, especially for a math prof. You are graded only by exams and quizzes. For Calc3 he added turn in problems as well (most of your grade is determined by the exams)Lectures are long, he does make mistakes sometimes. Calc is hard though, no matter who teaches it
Bailey is phenomenal! He absolutely cares that you succeed and gives you many ways to do so. He's also a funny guy and made online learning as easy as possible. He also created a Discord server for his students, which made him more available to help us and answer questions whenever we had them. You will need to do the book hw to pass the class.
Literally so annoying for no reason just talks and talks and is trying to get through material, I wasn't too worried at the start because he had good reviews but has made my life a living hell so far. I don't know what geniuses took this class before and left reviews but if you are a normal student -5/10 would recommend
He is literally the most inconsiderate professor Ive had. Not only does he not teach well but he doesnt even reciprocate when asked questions and does not care about his students actually learning the material. Extremely lazy and makes it impossible to do well. I regret taking him and wish I could switch.
He will be superfast for the course and heavy exams but he is also extremely good in teaching stuff.
The total grade is literally counted by exams and maybe quizzes. Honestly an extremely lazy professor. the class is organized so poorly. No cushion for your grades and youre expected to do book problems with no answer key or step by step instructions which count for no points. strongly do not recommend.
Prof Chris is a funny guy, he is cooperative. He will help you to succeed if you put the effort. Your grade excludes the homework. Grading is based on 4 proctored tests, problems that you turn in, quizzes, and a final comprehensive exam that replaces your lowest test grade. Sometimes, he makes mistakes, but if you stop him and ask he will fix it.
This professor is the perfect example of how the American education system has failed its students. There is no words to describe how difficult this professor is as a person. He just does not care, and your effort and time will be completely for nothing, I wish i never had to go through this
Oh man.Get ready to put in work because you aren't going to learn just from listening and taking notes from lectures. I study around 8 hours a week for just the weekly quizzes and even more for when an exam is coming up. To do well, do as much problems as possible. Watch videos. I've never studied so much for a class. No hw grade & poorly organized
Professor is like a watchful eagle, on the first day of exams he busted a few people who thought they could cheat and sent them into break out rooms. He now has an assistant vigilantly proctor each student during exam, no calculators allowed, exams are very difficult and created by him just days before the test date. Tough grader with no feedback..
He lectures on one note so you have to frantically copy everything he's writing into your notes, his explanations are wordy and confusing. The class did not follow the syllabus in terms of number of points, dates, or exams. He does not grade on time (very late for some exams/assignments) . Would not recommend taking an online math class with him.
This class is impossible!!! I'm more than happy to put in work for a class, but this was on another level. The classes is structured to make you fail. There aren't any homework grades and the exams are difficult, not to mention weekly quizzes. Stay away if you care about your grades or want a fair shot.
The professor has little ability to transition to online and gives few opportunities to learn with terribly organized notes and minimal supporting methods to learn.
His class structure is awful. Homework does not help your grade at all. The course is insanely test heavy and his 2.5 hour lectures are not fun. On exams, you never truly know what he is asking for, and if you take a different approach to a problem he will take points away. If you are from a 4 year school considering taking Calc 3 at COD, don't.
I took MATH 2270 online this past summer with Professor Bailey. The class included 3 tests, a numerous amount of homework assignments, and a final exam. He is lecture-heavy and VERY hard to get in contact with. He never responds to his emails. Overall, it's possible to do fine in the class but I would recommend taking someone else if available.
The professor did tend to sidetrack sometimes. He made the class as engaging as possible. The class only had about 10-12 quizzes, 4 exams, and one final. HW is not graded but try to do it to gain some practice. Do not underestimate the class just because it is easy in the beginning. Overall it was a nice professor, was not very strict in my opinion
Took him 3 times online (Calc 3 and Diff Eq). Worst three classes I've taken although I passed all 3. This man single highhandedly decimated my 4.0. Online format was difficult (not his fault). He was constantly running WEEKS behind schedule. There is no way to prepare for exams, they don't follow homework AT ALL. He NEVER replies to emails.
Professor Bailey is great! I can't believe the reviews arn't higher! When I fell behind in class he helped me bump my grade up! I already had to retake this class with another professor, so being able to get help and finally pass was a huge relief. He always sent out email reminders for quizzes and exams! As long as you study you'll be fine.
Typical STEM format; graded by just quizzes and tests, quiz every week, 3 tests, and final. He was pretty clear about topics for quizzes every week (same for tests). His HW (optional) is pretty representative of what'll be asked so do what you need (textbook is free to find online - libgen). It's diff eq so study and practice and you'll be fine.
take this guy if u wanna have NO lectures on how to do the work and lose your mind trying to learn it yourself. I mean, come on this guy can't even spell correctly in his updates. 0/10 would never take this guy again. And also that other helper he got. SHE DOES NOTHING.
This professor was very lenient with students and was available for help when necessary. His exams were easy in comparison to other professors at COD, but the final exam was a bit hard. If you have to take him, he's a great option.
i might as well have sat my friends bird down and made him teach me how to do algebra, this guy sat on his butt and gave us homework through aleks the entire time. no lectures no nothing. the review guides will be on different units than the test most of the time. maybe hes better in person idk. im hungry
Differential Equations was not easy, but Bailey taught it well. His quizzes and tests were fair and not too difficult as long as you did the HW and understood it well. His grading is pretty lenient as long as you show you understand the concept, he won't dock you on too many pts for getting the wrong final answer. Would highly recommend.
No lectures, teaching yourself online, will not be flexible/accommodating if you have hardships.
Every class i've took at COD, all is due Sunday. For him it was always due Friday. The amount of work and practices you have to do for this, let alone any math class, it is not physically possible. Especially if you already have a hard time in math and have a job and other life stuff you need to attend too. Procceed with caution.
