hes a heart throb
great teacher. class is virtualy un-failible if you pay attention.
Very cheerful guy. You listen to all different kinds of music, not just classical. Tests are open notes/not textbook. Funny and exciting class. Necessary attendance. Need notes for the tests. Requires a few concert attendence. Lots of chances for extra credit. Can't fail.
i take bass lessons w/ him.he's a great gut and an even better teacher.if you play bass, take lessons from him!
I took his online MUS 121 Class. You have to ways to follow the course, you can either watch the sessions on the videoweb or read the book. Even though it is better if you do both, usually reading the book is enough. Easy evaluation, quizes, couple of concerts critique. Very simple stuff and can even get extra credit. A+ class!
he is a great teacher. i took the class not really knowing what to expect, but this guy is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Too easy! Listen to music and attend concerts, the key to getting an (A) in the class is do all extra credit work, and all the required assiments! Mr. Davis is soo flexible you can't fail his course.
This professor rocks! I was dreading to take a music class but Mr. Davis made everthing so easy. As long as you do the assignments, concerts, and extra credit, it's a guaranteed A. He is an awesome guy and very helpful and nice. Don't hesitate to ask him for help or questions.
I took this class online and it was soooo easy I love it!
Well, well well. Took this class in the summer and not recommended in the summer unless you want to spend a bunch of money to see a stupid concert. Take in Fall or Spring when you can go to UNLV and pay very little for a concert. That was my only issue. Otherwise he was really good and helpful.
this class was sooo easy and actually interesting. if you do all the work on time and the extra credit it is an easy easy A. even though you can only take the final one time...you have 1 1/2 hours for 27 questions..def. take this classs
It was actually fun to take the review quizzes because they were so easy, and the material was actually pretty interesting for a music class... You have to go to a concert and write a critique, but he grades it easy. He also replies to e-mails and questions very quickly. Overall a great professor!
I just finished this class and really enjoyed it. You must read the book and watch the videos in order to pass the texts. The Concert is tough to find in the summer so look early do not wait. July 4 is a great concert, but not much going on after early June.
I tok his online class this past summer, the class itself is pretty easy, but you have to read and watch the tv lectures. the prof himself sometimes was not that helpful because i asked some questions to him regarding some tests and he never replied back. but other thah that, he not that bad
class was easy but make sure to read the fine print in the syllabus if not your screwed. the prof offered no help at all either.
very nice
i took mus121 online. very easy. get more than one chance at every quiz but the final. i had plenty of time to look up the answer to every question on the final-without studying! very easy!
Easy class, can work ahead and finish quickly. Have multiple chances at each test. Prof. requires you to attend 2 concerts(high school ones count) and then you must critique them.
Very helpful professor, and I am passing his class with an A. I am taking him online and I just like how he has his assignments due. It was helpful through out my semester.
He is a great teacher. There is no fine print in the syllabus like others state. He is clear and precise. Very good instructor and good getting back to you with grades. Not necessary to contact him with questions. I had none, a great class.
Great teacher..took online class..assignment due every week , easy, learned alot, as long as you read and keep up you will be fine..also had to attend a concert and write an essay it was a fun learning experience.
GREAT CLASS! the assignments are easy. you get as many times as you need to do the bookwork and three chances on the quizzes. there are the mandatory concert critique qhich can make you or break you i didnt do them and i didnt do well but he is very helpful and nice. i took him online easiest online class ever
Online class. His emails can be very direct, and almost condescending. If you are a non-music major, just do your work, follow directions, and get an 'A'.
The class is an easy class. Attendance is not matdatory, but he gives in class assisgnments that can not be made up.
I think it is an easy class, but the professor is not helpful. i would not recommend this instructor!
Online class. Very easy. 2 required concert critiques.
Online class, very easy. Textbook required, however this professor uses Mcgee's video so technically I don't think you absolutely need the book if you follow along to the videos. All the quizes and crosswords have multiple attmepts if you need to utilize that.
This instructor was not helpful,he did not like to respond to emails. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANY STUDENT.
Class is super EASY, passed with A, leaves assignments open so you can complete work ahead of time. I did write down vocab for each chapter which made it helpful to complete puzzles and tests.
Chris is just the best! I've taken classes with him every semester! Don't take his class if you like to show up late or not at all. He will not stand for that. Other than that great prof!
This class I did online and it was a good class for me. The professor was very helpful when I need information. I recommend his class.
This class was very easy, but the professor never answered emails or showed any involvement with this class. I took this class online and was shocked at the lack of assistance or interest shown from him.
Hes a nice guy. Super easy classical music class (online was easiest class Ive EVER had). I aced it. Do the two concert critiques EARLY and dont wait until midterms/finals when your out of time and concert choices. I would take it again. The crosswords and quizzes are fun & you can retake until you get a grade you like (3x). He WANTS to give you A+
Great Professor! I took his summer online class. He really wants you to pass his class. Replied to all my emails. Very nice and helpful. Just do the work and watch the videos and you should have no problem passing this class.
Online class. I had difficulty with this class, but the Prof. Davis was always quick to respond to e-mail and help me along. I would definitely pick him as my instructor if I had to take another music course.
Mr. Davis was a great professor. I enjoyed taking his class online. He was quick to email you back in case you had any questions. Be prepared to see 2 concerts and if you can not make them, there is opportunity to do extra credit. I missed a week of class due to an illness, but still managed to pass with a B.
he's cool and explains everything really well. He's helpful in explaining everything. We used the book quite a bit, but nothing too hefty unless you fell behind. I took this class by accident. I had to work harder to understand the music terms since I had no background in it. I still passed with an A so that should be proof enough! :)
In my personal opinion, the only way you can get less than an A is if you missed the assignment due dates.
Mr. Davis is a great professor. His class requires a fair amount of work. Yet its easy to pass if you do the weekly assignments and quizzes. Enjoy the concerts, two critiques are required. You will learn more than you thought possible. I would definitely recommend this class. If you don't know much about music you will when you finish the class.
Davis made this class understandable for non-music majors. He is very clear with what he is looking for and offers a ton of extra credit, he wants you to pass. Be prepared to go to at least two classical music concerts, certain ones are worth extra credit. The only way to fail is to do nothing!
Pretty awesome online class. Besides the required concerts, everything was easy and enjoyable. Composer quizzes was a little difficult but could be retaken. (amen) Would take again.
Professor Davis was an awesome instructor. I took an online class, do the assignments before the due date, & you pass. Very simple class, i really loved attending the concerts for the critiques. The book is essential, but quizzes are straightfoward & you get a few tries to get 100%. He wants you to succeed!
This class is an easy A. You just have to do your stuff on time. Doesn't accept late work. He gives a lot of extra credit. His feedbacks are also helpful. Grades your stuff right away. I recommend him to everyone!
Prof Davis got bored one day and decided to make the longest list of assignments to give, found them so pointless and repetitive. He also makes you pay to go watch his shows and write reviews.
He unlocked all the modulus so you can go at your own pace. The quiz's and tests are from each chapters key terms and review questions, you can take them multiple time. You do have to do 2 concert critique's but it can be on any concert with a program... there are several free ones :)
This is an online class. His modules are opened you can work ahead. 2 required concerts make sure you get them approved. Follow the outline and you will get an A! Quizzes on each module and final test. Gives chances to make your grade higher! You must try but no way you can fail!!!
4 week summer class. figuring out how to attend a live performance was a pain, the class wasn't terrible. lots of chances to get an A or 100% on everything there is just ALOT. Im indifferent about him as a teacher and the class as a whole.
Online summer class was easy. The course was 6 weeks, and there were about 10-12 assignments due every 2 weeks. 90% of the answers came from the workbook. Most of the quiz/test questions were from the review page in the book. MAKE SURE YOU ATTEND A CONCERT EARLY SINCE IT IS REQUIRED. Alot of people had trouble with that. He also good feedback.
Textbook 100%, PLENTY opportunities on quizzes and final. All models open so you can go at your own speed, provides explanations and feedback. Accessible outside class. I took the class online for 16 weeks and a few discussions had to be posted. Music critiques "be aware, lots of free concerts, start searching at the beginning of the semester."
The class was great but he never replied to messages at all. Did not grade the critique and would not tell me what I did wrong.
Super easy course. You have a week to finish a module but I was able to finish 1 module within a few hours. You will use the book to write things in it but all of it is on the tests. Required 2 events you had to go to but you take simple notes. Highly recommend.
he is an amazing teacher! I would like to take him again. He is really good with explaining and good with giving us feedbacks. Easy A not too many homework just discussions on every chapter. He gives you breaks and is very understanding!
Good professor offers two extra credit concert critiques and if you go to the concerts at campus you'll get extra credit as well super easy to pass the class!
Great professor took his class for the summer which was a minimester. There was a total of 7 modules which consists of a 20 question quiz, discussion, and a 2 page essay for each module. He is very understanding when it comes to late work. 2 extra credit opportunities. Responds to questions. Not a tough grader. Lots of writing. No midterm or final.
Overall easy A and a good teacher. I took the summer course which was fast paced however, just make sure you keep up on your quizzes and complete your final paper on time. The nice thing about the summer course is you where able to use a virtual concert instead of attending a live one.
A very fun and interesting class. Requires you to attend two classical concerts, so be sure you have time/money for that before you sign up. Questions on the quizzes come directly from the book, so it's a good idea to keep up on the reading. My only complaints are that the professor does not respond to any emails, and does not grade on time.
Took him for mus 121 ! All the answers are in the textbook ! You have to give small opinions on topics ! and watch videos on songs but the videos give you ALL THE ANSWERS ! he has extra credit too ! the most you really have to do is do required critique papers on any concert which is easy ! this professor is super chill ! highly reccomend !
Christopher is a very good professor. He is very engage with the online class. I had learned so many things that I didn't know before when it comes to classical music. He is very passionate and wants you to succeed. I greatly appreciate his time giving me feedback on my assignments. Christopher is very understandable. Definitely would take again.:)
Professor Davis was a great instructor. He made understanding the technical side of music easy, and I have a much fuller experience when listening to it on my own after this class. He allows you to work ahead on all assignments as the class is self-paced. Midterm and final from the book, and reading and assignments weekly. Take this class!
Easy class. Weekly assignments and tests. Answer the questions at the end of each chapter and you'll pass your tests. Also make sure to have the definitions of terms near you for the tests. You have to go to two concerts and write about them, but that was the most difficult the class got, and that was easyyy.
Took this class online during Summer for 4 weeks. Super easy, the only "hard" part was completing certain quizzes when the time limit for them is very little, but those become easy when you learn all the material. There was a required concert critique, but he allowed a virtual concert since live ones are hard to attend in the summer.
First two weeks and I already had more notes than my other three classes COMBINED, and 4 chapters due online. He expects you to take an absurd amount of notes for whats honestly a waste of time. The quizzes online are timed. If you have a job, other classes, or have a life Id strongly recommend not taking the class.
Easy class!! Take this class if you need it, you will need a textbook and youll be taking 15 min quizzes but you can retake the quizzes until you get a good score. You will need to attend 2 concert critiques in person so make sure it fits your schedule.. UNLV lets you watch concerts for free let them know youre a student at CSN!
He is one of the most amazing teachers out there! I took him online for a 16 week course while taking two 4 week courses and two 8 week courses, I also had a job and I had no issue finishing his assignments ALL in 1 day .. He also allows you to use notes on your quizzes and lets you retake .. He is very caring :) I recommend him to everyone.
Not a hard class. It isn't a class that will stress you out. If you do your assignments you will be fine. Open Notebook tests. So take good notes. Don't procrastinate on assignments. Super chill. Show up for credit.
This online class was an easy A. I recommend doing the assignments in the text that he assigns because it makes the quizzes go by easier and faster. The only thing I wasn't looking forward to is the concert critiques but all of that changed with Covid-19 . I guess just a heads up for future classes, you have to attend live concerts for this class.
A lot of quizzes, tests, and homework. Due to quarantine he allowed mostly everything to be due at the same time, which gave students the freedom to work at their own pace. The class is heavy on reading and note taking, but he is an easy grader. I noticed issues in some tests where the answers were absolutely correct but I did not receive credit.
There is a required textbook but i didnt get one and still passed with an A. All assignments are open so you can work ahead and do everything for the whole semester in a day (besides the final exam) There are two concert critques, i got 100% on both and i didnt even know what i was doing. A very easy calss with just bunch of quizzes from quizlet.

This teacher has unrealistic expectations . If your a music major then this class is for you . I am taking this class for credit towards my cyber security major . I have 0 Interest in classical music . The teacher was pretty offended when I said that one of the classical pieces sounds like something from Sponge Bob ,I was then given a 0
Lots of EASY homework (unlimited times quizzes), fun discussions and a required music critique (easy if you read the book), extra credit offered. Overall a easy and fun class. Professor is really helpful. This class goes over CLASSICAL MUSIC mainly so be advised if your not into that. Overall an easy A class.
I took this 4 week online class during the summer. I really enjoyed it. I now have a different view and respect for classical music. The professor had all the modules open and basically said here is all your work have it done by the end of class semester. I was able to work at my own pace, appreciated that. Easy A just put in the work
I didnt care for this class at first but professor Davis changed the entire perspective for me! You have lots of quizzes, but they are really easy. Common sense will get you to pass this class with an A. He is such an amazing professor and I really enjoyed this class!
Class is very easy and you can purchase the book if you want sometimes its handy but you wont need it. Every two weeks he has work and its very easy. I received a B in class due to missing on of the two concert critiques DONT miss those they matter otherwise easy class.
I would avoid this class and take another professor. Pretty rude and inconsiderate of a teacher, fortunately the class was online. Sad, if you dont like teaching you should find another career field.
This class is dull. If you take the online course be prepared to take fill in the blank quizzes with a ridiculous time constraint. (10 minutes for 15 questions) most fill in the blank to where even if you get the answer right but maybe add a word like the or and it marks you as wrong. Horrible way to run an online class if you ask me.
Professor Davis is just like your typical college professor. Show up, do the work, you pass. I am taking Music 121, and he is so far a really good teacher. The material is not hard at all, and he is generous and offers extension deadlines. However, by reading his emails you may get a little intimidated but he is surely a nice and caring person.
This class is very easy, there is about 5 assignment every 2 weeks, maybe a little more. You do have to read a little, but not very much. Most of the assignments you can take multiple times for a better grade. As long as you do all the assignments by the due date it is a really simple class.
I took this class this past semester and I am not impressed. Professor Davis is very unforgiving (doesn't respond to emails if you need to explain a situation you're in). I wanted to feel more connected to music this semester, but Professor Davis did not spark any interest in me. Maybe he is different in person, but would not recommend for online.
This is a teacher you will never meet and will never get any instruction from, yet he expects you to learn something? Takes forever to grade. Has a very unclear grading criteria. Is in no way 'teaching' you anything. If his only purpose is to grade things, why does it take four weeks to do so? Concert critiques- good luck. Very picky
Must attend concerts for critique. Monthly quizzes and exams. Unfortunately textbook is required. Overall good class
So easy. You don't need the textbook. If you already know music or play an instrument this class is a vacation. I finished the whole course in two weeks. The assignments especially discussions were really fun to do and interesting. He never gives feedback on work though, I would like a little "good job" maybe atleast to get some interaction.
This class is okay, the one thing that made me, "I wouldn't take this class again" is having to go out and attend two concerts for his "Concert Critiques" other than that the class is pretty easy. There are tests and it is15 questions with a 10 minute time limit but it is doable. Another thing is he does take a while to grade everything.
The class is super easy and super chill. The quizzes are open-book. The main thing is the concert critiques. If you don't do 1, then you'll get a B even if you had 100% or C if you don't do both. He has extra credit critiques if you miss one/both. I attended both an UNLV band concert and a CSN orchestra concert (Which he conducted in). Slow grading
Very easy course to fulfill Fine Arts credit req. The book costed around $70 from Amazon, physical copy. 2 required concert critiques, one online and one in-person, which is why I got a B instead of an A. Should only spend about 3 hours a week on this class max. Posts everything that you need to know and will use.
He selectively responds to emails. I know this because I had emailed him with a concern of mine at the start of the semester, and it took him a week + two follow up emails for him to rudely respond that he had already seen the first email I had sent him. This was a very important email to me, but not for him. I almost missed out on an opportunity.
Not accessible outside of class and rude. I don't have much else to say about this professor unfortunately.
This class is super easy! You can take the quizzes as many times as you need to get a perfect score and it's all straight out of the book. The listening/discussion assignments are easy and I'm pretty sure everyone gets full credit as long as you post your opinion. He takes a couple of days to respond to emails though
i got over 100 in this class even tho i skipped the 1st concert critique (there are 2 required ones in the semester each is worth a letter grade but are kinda easy to do). quizzes can be retaken up to 3 times, every 2 weeks we have a few discussion assignments and vids to watch. do the csn orchestra, a lot of extra credit. txtbook not rlly needed
Some of the test questions in this class focused on composers' personality traits. Shouldn't we be learning about the music instead of who envied who? Misspelling a word on a test means losing points, and if you email about it, it probably won't get fixed. That said, the class was pretty easy; just take good notes on terms and you'll do fine.
Really good bass professor. I had music knowledge but no bass skill, and he guided to become a much better bass player. He's also a very chill guy.
live critique was easy to understand bit much to tackle taking during the summer as there's not many live shows to critique, I was lucky to see a good show where Mr. Davis played in live at the smith's center for the arts, I can say it was the best live theater show I've ever gone to also wish Mr. Davis would have done live lectures but overall
Attempted to contact him via email during the semester and never got a response a single time. He also takes ages to grade assignments.
