Very patient, understanding, and comprehnsive teacher. Really cares more that you understand the material eh goes over in general than the book word for word. He finds a way to compare the course to his family life, which makes him a very fun and entertaining professor, and a gneiss guy.

Wants students to understand material with depth, but unfortunately is an extremely unclear lecturer; very hard to follow because he speaks at a level we can't understand (even if you read the book). It's hard to do well, because lecture is extremely important but it's hard to get anything out of it. Not easy, not learning much.

I though the class was tough an boring. It is NOT easy to get an A! Dr. D. expects a lot and isn't that clear in his lecture. For anyone with not the slightest bit interest in Geology, this class can be a nightmare. Take another class to fulfill a GE requirement, if that's the reason you're thinking of taking his class.

While it is not easy to get an A in this class, Professor Dileonardo is an incredible teacher. He finds clear and amusing ways to explain concepts that students might have difficulty with, and the rock/mineral challenges were a lot of fun! I wish there could have been another field trip, as that helped my understanding the most.

Great class and informative...be sure to attend all classes because his lectures are packed with everything you will need to know... Tests are detailed but if you are current on everything and study your notes/handouts you will do well. Plus, you'll actually learn very cool stuff about shorelines, rocks and learn to read a detailed map.

Dr.D is incredibly amazing; he took us on a disastrous field trip on the beaches of San Mateo, when it rained incredibly hard, nearly soaking us all. He was so into oceanography that, the only reason why he stopped the field trip was because we did not have water proof paper. Intense, right? You need to read a lot in the class to do well+attendance

Dr. D is a very good professor. His excitement for geology made the information that much more interesting to a student who is not interested in the topic at all. He does not really go over material during lecture, and not many people purchased his online book. There is a mandatory field trip near the end of the quarter. Your grade is basically determined by 6 quizzes plus a couple lab quizzes, and midterm/final. Many people struggled in this class, I suggest you go to another science class.

Yes, geology is a tough class, but Dr. D explains things very well in lecture, and reinforces it in the lab activity. You are encouraged to collaborate with other students on quizzes and on the take-home part of the final. If you put effort into the class, you'll be fine.
