Great teacher. Extremely helpful. Pretty much tells you exactly what is on his tests. Highly recommend, very educated man. Dislikes when you habitually leave his class early though. It also seems like he has something against smokers but that has nothing to do with his teaching lol.
Overall a great teacher. If you don't have any knowledge of accounting you will have to try harder (it can be fast paced). Class is set-up with no graded homework but if you don't do assigned homework you wont pass the quizzes/exams which are the only grades. BUT! if you do the assigned homework..... you WILL pass the quizzes/exams and get an A.
Really cool teacher, really explains everything very well. First week or two may be a little confusing if you haven't taken an accounting class before, but he's a great teacher so really helps you understand :)
Very good teacher. Explains problems good and if you need help, he will help you. Lots of quiz's that are helpful for the tests. Tests aren't that hard but reviewing over the problems he told you too helps. Overall, very fun class and I would recommend this teacher.
I had no interest in accounting prior to this class, but after taking it I am giving serious consideration to switching over to the accounting/finance world. Chris is among the best teachers I have ever had. He explains everything very well, treats everyone with respect, and uses COMMON SENSE. Highly recommend.
TAKE HIM!! :) He is a fantastic teacher! He is very fair, extremely helpful and just a nice guy. He explains things very well. His exams are just like the chapter quizzes, so study those and you'll do great!
failed ACC1140. Somehow found my way into ACC1150 and understand everything. Great guy great teacher reccommend
He's such a great professor! I've had a fair share of accounting professors and no one, and I mean NO ONE made their teachings as clear as he did. I took him for 1140, passed with an A, and plan on taking over the summer for 1150. I highly reccommend him and make sure you show up to class! It's the key to actually passing.
I really enjoyed his class. He's very nice, fair and reasonable. He reviews the entire chapter in class, however the quizzes and tests are all problem solving based on one specific area of each chapter. He provides examples of exercises/problems to review in order to prepare for each quiz/test. Would definitely recommend taking one of his classes!
Fabulous instructor who explains everything with excellent clarity. If only he taught upper level classes!
This guy gives extra credit and let's you go early - quizzes are just like the exam - take him if you don't want to be an accounting major you won't get enough
Very easy if you can follow the material, show up to class, and do the hw. Hw is directly the same as problems he goes over in class so pay attention, tells you what's on quizes/tests ahead of time. nice guy always willing to help you, he's very relevant as this year he left the corporate world to be a professor. would recommend.
not a real good teacher but he makes up for it in making the quizzes and exams easy and tells you exactly what is on the test
You just have to follow his quizzes and you can ace the exams tons of extra credit and he does not waste your time sitting in class you get out early as he moves through material
He will admit to his own mistakes and does not test you on concepts he didn't cover. He takes the time to explain everything well, usually 2-3 different ways if necessary. He relates concepts to the real-world and is very knowledgeable. Doing the homework and coming to class should guarantee you an A.
Good teacher, but course material is hard. Be prepared to put some time and effort into it
He teaches the material right from book - does not spend a lot of time explaining - just tells you do your homework and you will be ok - I need this class for my major soI am glad it was an easy A
I will not take him for 1150 because I do like accounting and want to actually major in it not just get an easy A - being a nice guy is not enough for me
He is easy and if you need the class but don't really need accounting you should take him
He uses a lot of power points and class is slow you have to do homework to learn the topics. Quizzes are just like exams which is helpful. I do not think I will take anymore accounting
do not listen to the negative comments. the ones that posted the negative comments were the lazy students that wanted to get by without trying. this class is a hard class which he does a great job teaching. YOU MUST PUT IN THE EFFORT TO PASS.
Tells irrelevant stories, lectures are confusing and the homework is all online and does not help with tests. He does not give any study guides and the tests are hard. I do not recommend this teacher
He is a nice guy but he has no control over this class - you can do what ever you want in class - he is a new teacher and clearly does not care if students are not really interested in the material
Really nice guy if you pay attention and actually study you will ace the class. I cant beleive these negative comments, if you want a good accounting teacher take this guy. Dont let the lazy students lie to you because of their lack of skills/effort.
This class is manageable if you put in the effort. He always emails back if you have any questions. He does rush sometimes but it's because stupid people won't shut up. If you do the homework you should be able to get an average grade. This class requires studying its not easy you need to put in effort.
He is an awesome instructor. If want an A, you have to work for it. Meaning; Do your HW, read the chapter, and study.
One of the best professors i have taken in COD, very helpful, understanding, accepting late work. He does not want anyone to get anything lower than a B if you work a little hard,+his help you will reach an A easily. He's funny and nice, and at the beginning of the class he asks us what we want from him,and actually does it.PERFECT teacher A forhim!
3 things you need to do in his class for an easy A. 1) Do the homework,2)pay attention to his lectures he is very smart and knows how to teach it. 3) apply what you learned in his easy quizez and tests. which by the way his tests are exactly like the quizez, except the quizez are per chapter while tests are 4 chapter at once so take notes of quizes
Never left a comment on here but after seeing the marks some students left him i feel compelled to. If you don't miss class, and do hw with intention of learning you should be fine. I enjoyed this class and feel I have a good base in accounting to start from now. I think people just like to complain when they don't get the grade they want.
If you're responsible & care about succeeding even if you're not interested in accounting there is no way you can flunk a class with him. He is one of the best teachers I had. He went over a chapter without using the book & honestly after the lecture I didn't have to use the book for homework. Thats how good at teaching he is. BUT DO THE HW!
This class is very doable if you have any desire to succeed at all. Ferro genuinely cares about your success and tries to make sure everyone "gets it". If you don't get it, it's your fault, speak up. The class required a book that cant be resold or bought online due to it being a CoD edition was a really sad moneygrab by both the school/department
A nice guy, easy grader makes accounting a class you can pass
I dont like this class very much I need it to transfer the lectures are hard to follow and sometime he even messes up the problems so how does he expect us to get them right the hoemwork is all online and he does not really help with it
I took this class over the summer, and it definitely exceeded my expectations. I absorbed much more information than I expected. The lectures were practical, targeted, and not boring. Homework corresponded with quizzes and exams. Ferro is a relatively good professor and knows how to teach.
Mr. Ferro he is a great instructor and very helpful. I took both 1140 & 1150 accounting class with him and he was one of my best instructor I have ever had at COD. he knows his materials and he explained everything very clear. highly recommend him, BEST INSTRUCTOR EVER . I wish I can have more classes with him. THANKS Mr. Ferro
Great teacher. Knows what he is doing. The class is very easy to follow. Only three tests all semester. Chapter quizzes every week are easy if you do the homework online which is worth as much as the quizzes. Not hard at all to get an A if you show up to class and do your homework.
Unless you plan on majoring in accounting, nobody generally likes the subject. Chris makes it as painless as possible. He genuinely wants his students to understand the material. He explains things clearly and everything you do in the class is cohesive. The quizzes are similar to the homework and the tests are similar to the quizzes.
Its accounting, so its not an easy course. But he makes it as painless as possible, explains the material very well and genuinely cares if you learn the material. Homework is once before quizzes, its pretty easy as long as you pay attention in class. Im signing up for his summer course, great teacher overall
C. Ferro is GREAT! Very clear understanding on all things Accounting and understands that it can be a challenge. He's always there for help when needed and makes the lectures fun. I would recommend taking him.
Only 3 tests and they are extensive (in depth), however they are not comprehensive. Homework is simple if you show up to class and pay attention, and it is also great practice for the quizzes he give you over each chapter. The quizzes are easy if you do the homework and have paid attention in class.
Definitely, not the teacher for me. Was very fast paced, and didn't offer enough help, or ways of getting help if you were falling behind. Sloppy hand writing, can't take notes, if you can't read what he's writing!
Ferro is a great teacher. His lectures are very helpful so I would recommend showing up to class. Take notes on whatever he writes on the board. There are quizzes on every chapter but are not too hard if you study and do the hw which is due weekly. He's a lenient grader. He makes accounting very interesting. One of the best profs I've had.
1 chapter each week. Hw & a quiz the following week. Homework is online & straight forward problems that were discussed in the lecture. Quizzes and tests mimic homework so as long as you're doing that then you'll be golden. Also there's this extra thing orion to see how well you know the chapter. As long as you put forth effort he's very lenient.
He is a nice teacher but sometimes mixes concepts up I took becuase he is an easy grader
I hate accounting, but i passed. He is an experienced guy in accounting so he knows what he is talking about. I did not like the online homework though. mhhh show up to class, take notes, pay attention, ask questions and do homework. Ask if you will need the book.
One chapter per week with online homework. Quiz about the chapter in the following week. Quizzes and tests are based off homework and should be easy if you do them. Very experienced so he likes to use real life examples. He makes a 2 hour lecture seem quicker, has a lot of personality. Goes at the pace of the class.
Great
great professor really cares about his students. Quick responds and always willing to assit. his students. If you are unsure about accounting and need someone who is always there to help i highly recommend him. the class has a lot of home work and test its based off 1000points. you really need to do the work and study or you will not pass.
I knew as much as a doorknob when it came to accounting. Ferro basically dumbed things down to a point that I could understand it. He was engaging, and made a pretty dry subject seem interesting and manageable. He does give a lot of homework, and it can be difficult. Make sure to ask for help if your struggling, because he will certainly help.
Amazing teacher. Highly recommended. Mr. Ferro walks you through everything. I didn't know anything about accounting going in, I surprisingly got B. The key part of passing is to Practrice Practice and ask questions.
Inspirational guy. Go to class there are a lot of quizzes. Ask questions. He is more than willing to help and/or clarify anything. He is not allowed to offer extra credit. You will have to read the book unless you are already a genius. I am a B student and I barely passed with a C so you will really have to work to pass.
I would not take this professor he is a very nice guy but makes a lot of mistakes and tries to cover up I think I could have done a better job
I have taken Mr. Ferro for 3 different Accounting classes and he is one of my favorite teachers at the College of Dupage. He makes the topic clear and easy to understand and he cracks a few jokes once in a while. All you have to do in this class is do your homework on time and you will understand the topic and get a good grade in the class.
Accounting is an extremely tough subject, yet Professor Ferro makes it a lot simpler. One of the best thing you can do to do well in this class is to read the book. Professor Ferro is usually happy to help.
Professor Ferro was informative and easy to understand. He cares that you truly have a clear understanding of the topics. He explains things well and shows you examples. Classroom time has its bonuses. I would definitely take another course with him. He was accessible outside of class.
Professor Ferro is amazing. I have to say he makes a hard subject seem easier. He answers emails promptly and is very understanding of his students needs. Accounting is tough. A good teacher makes it so much better. I highly recommend taking this class if you are trying to advance in accounting.
I took this class to learn quickbooks and I did all the work in the class and still failed the certification exam 3 times this professor soes not do anything but read the manual to you its not a real class
I took him for intro to business and I always looked forward to his class. He is a funny, well educated guy who teaches the subjects with his personal experiences. He also often made the class laugh with hilarious articles that connected to the subject being taught. There are always 2-3 online chapter assignments due every week so keep up with them
He is a very funny and nice guy, but his ITB class got very repetitive. Every class was just going through slides. I understand that it's an introductory class and the terms must be known, but switching it up once in a while and doing group work or even just playing kahoot would've made a huge difference as i'm not a robot.
Mr. Ferro taught the class in a way that is very easy to understand. The homework is online, don't wait to the last minute to do it since the questions have lots of parts to them. He's an awesome guy and he explains everything thoroughly and answers questions. His class is a great foundation if you're thinking about starting an accounting degree.
Great Professor teaches his lectures well but they are very long.
I took this class when I had only a small interest in accounting - Mr. Ferro made me feel inspired and confident enough to turn that into my major. All it really takes is showing up and taking notes and you'll never be lost. He's a good lecturer and is pretty funny too.
Teaches some topics as if you already know it. He moves very fast and writes messy notes on the board. Hard to follow sometimes. However, he is very nice and seems understanding of students. Funny guy. All homework is online.
I loved professor Ferro! He is very approachable and goes through material well. He cares for his students and understands what it's like to be one. Managerial accounting exams will require you to take time to study!!! The exams are not a cake walk. HW and quizzes are online which help. If you work too much, do not take this course.
Amazing accounting professor. I barely passed Financial, and he truly taught this material well. His voice sounds like Steve Carrell, I thought that was a plus but take it with a grain of salt. He was very funny and approachable and I rarely had any questions because the homework is really good at explaining everything if you don't understand.
It's an accounting class so expect lots of work. Ferro really cares about his students success and has a great way of teaching. Hid "dad" jokes are sorta funny. And he's a relatable guy. Overall, he will be my most memorable professor and I'm done this semester.
Attendance isnt mandatory, but he goes over info of each chapter, provides sample problems that prepare you for the online homework & quizzes. He genuinely wants his students to learn and understand the material.
Don't need to go to class, but he goes over each section and does the homework problems in class. Makes it easy to complete it at home. You actually do learn a lot but it's not high effort. He's really funny and nice, too. My class was a 4 hour hybrid night class once a week but he made it bearable and always let us out early. Tests aren't hard.
Professor Ferro is a great teacher. Im not very good at accounting, but he was able to always thoroughly explain everything. We always went over problems in class and as long as you followed along it was easy. Hes very approachable and good at what he does. I would take him again if I could
Professor Ferro gives clear and sometimes even entertaining lectures backed up by real-world examples from his field. His grading scale is clear and transparent, and he always gives his class plenty of time to work on assignments. Anytime there is a change to the course calendar or an assignment, he promptly communicates it.
Professor Ferro is simply amazing! Some concepts in Managerial Accounting are hard to understand, but Ferro does good job of using real-life examples to aid the understanding. Easy A if you put in a "college" level effort. He's always there to help you so just reach out to him. Overall amazing class and professor. TAKE IT!
Good Professor. Always good feedback from him.
Good professor for accounting. The exams online are now proctored which wasn't a thing last semester. Homework and quizzes every week. Accounting is normally a tough subject but he wants his students to understand and succeed. Take him if you have the chance!
Professor Ferro is a fine professor. Not much to say about him as he lays out everything on the table. Nothing good or bad about him as he is pretty average. One thing I will give him is that he is understanding. If taking accounting he is a great teacher as he knows what he is talking about. There is no such thing as a "dumb question" in his class
Doesn't care if you pass or fail. Talks too fast. Doesn't explain the material well.
This class is tough, but with work you can get an A or a B. There is enough points in the gradebook to help boost up your test scores but if you study and reach out and ask questions to him you will pass this class. Ferro is probably one of the best teachers for 2140 but people fail if they don't put in the college level effort.
His 2150 is easier than his 2140 class. Still, you need to practice your accounting on Connect many times to ensure you will be prepared for the test. There are enough points to help maintain a high grade and exams are straightforward. I would recommend him and he wants all his students to succeed.
More good than bad - balanced, clear instruction. Encourages questions. Exams and quizzes almost always end up having some material not thoroughly covered in class/HW. 5-6 papers or projects to be expected in full semester. Would recommend overall.
Loved his 2150. Doesn't "read" powerpoints, but instead teaches the concepts. Great teaching method and helped me understand concepts easily in a difficult class. V helpful outside class. Mentored me towards CPA and even met me after i graduated COD to help me with CPA process. Great person and instructor!
I took Prof. Ferro for 2140 & 2150, both classes he was awesome! I am an accounting major and both classes are cake if you put in lots of work. He teaches concepts through his work experience. Does not just read from book. He is really friendly and straight up. He is super funny at times. By far my favorite teacher ever. Highly Recommend!
Trust me this class was easy with Ferro. I had personal problems that prevented me from getting an A ;) He's a great professor who's smart and cares about his students' success. He's really encouraging when you ask questions. But it can be hard to pay attention to his lectures sometimes. He's pretty monotone and doesn't ask for too much engagement.
He is a very good professor if you are quite good at paying attention to lectures. I personally was not great at it and ended up teaching myself by reading the book. This class is not very hard if you re-do the homework right before taking the test. His expectations are made very clear. There are no delayed test or extra days to complete tests.
The class itself is hard in general but Professor Ferro taught it on an average and would try to explain things as best as possible. If you don't go to the lectures or read the book you'll probably miss out on important info.
He got made over little stuff in class. Was unable to help although I had reached out at the beginning of the semester to tell him I was struggling finically and just needed time. Told me figure it out
Great professor. Super smart and funny. Thoroughly enjoyed going to class. My career is in cost accounting because of him.
Honestly as long as you work hard you'll be fine (like really make sure you understand the concepts). The exams were quite hard, but overall he explains everything in detail and is clear about what he expects from you. Also, he responds to emails really fast which I appreciated!
Professor Ferro is the most down-to-earth teacher. He makes an intimidating subject like accounting easy to understand for beginners, his lectures directly translating to homework and tests (no surprises). The best part about him is his willingness to share stories and lessons he has learned throughout his career.
One of the easiest classes at COD. Really lays everything out for students and makes classes as simple as possible. There were 2 assignments and 1 quiz every week. Exams were easy as long as you did all the homework and attended class. Kind of a stickler for coming on time though. Don't be late and you'll do great.
This class was very difficult, slightly less hard than 2140. Same format/schedule as 2140. There is one group project at end. Attendance not for grade, but I would go so you dont get lost. He does great job at teaching, but the course goes so fast. Lots of homework and quizzes. 3 exams. I would recommend Ferro, he is funny and knowledgable on subje
He really cared about his students and I learned a lot in this class. Just make sure to keep up with the work and study for all quizzes/tests and an A should be manageable. Attendance is a must because there is a lot required to know how to do for tests, during class he teaches everything needed, personally I never had to read the book.
I found his teaching to be very clear and easy to follow. Nice guy, just don't miss deadlines for homework.
Made accounting easy to understand for everyone, not just accounting majors. Accessible out of class and eager to answer any questions. Class is comprised of 3 exams which carry a lot of weight on your grade. Quizzes due every Sunday. He cracks jokes in class and is likeable, passionate about what he teaches, and is eager to help if you reach out.
He always responds to my emails and explains the material well.
Great teacher
He is a great teacher. I went to a Big 10 school, and he is still probably the best professor I have had. Respect him, and he will respect you.
Professor Ferro is a dedicated professor who loves to help his students succeed. He is quick to respond to questions whether that is inside or outside the classroom and loves to get students engaged on campus. in regards, to passing his class, make sure you study for the tests and go back to review the "Need to Knows."
Professor Ferro has an excellent teaching style and is very resourceful in ways to help the class understand the material. ACCOU 2140 has a HEAVY workload; be prepared to put in the work, and you will be successful in this class.
He is a nice guy, but he doesn't prepare you for the work you have to study and learn it on your own, don't miss a deadline, as there is no forgiveness.
he is one of those professors that runs on autopilot he does his thing and you have to keep up
Made snarky comments towards me and my friends when we brought food in. If you wanted a bite, JUST ASK!!! He a chill dude tho fr no cap.
Great teacher makes the lectures engaging the tests can be hard if you don't prepare and there is quite a bit of assignments and projects to complete but its definitely possible to get an A even if you do bad on a test. I would highly recommend his class.
