he is a good teacher, kind of boring because he just reads what is written in front of you, but class discussions can be very fun, and he has ALL the notes online (awesome) and he gives you a study guide online, he is helpful, the only problem is attendance, so GO TO CLASS, he takes random attendance, all in all a good teacher, kina cute too lol.
his class is easy, the notes he puts up online are the only things u need to know for the tests
Awesome
France ROCKS!
THis is an easy class if you just pay attention and read the notes.
Really nice guy. Would take any class taught by him. Also learned a lot.
Awesome professor, makes a difficult subject really easy. Plus he puts all the notes up online, so u don't have to do much notetaking. I'd take any class he teaches because he makes it fun and less challenging than other classes.
great teacher, had a lot of fun in his class
Everything the others said was true. Getting notes from him- awesome. I learned a lot. It was my favorite class. He made it interesting and easy to understand. Very do-able with a busy schedule. I would definitely reccomend him for any class.
France is just great. He was helpful, funny and made the course interesting.
One of the best professors I've had so far. Everything is clear and the notes are online for you to print out. He shows video clips that aren't stupid and makes everything interesting.
Real good guy. Makes a pretty dull class fairly interesting. Tests are straight-forward and the study guides pretty much outline everything that is on the test.
easy teacher, doesnt care if u miss a lot of classes, his study guides explain the tests perfectly, an easy A or B as long as ur awake
If you attend class, study his guides, you'll ace exams EASY
Kind and pretty hot even though not young. Attend class regularly to get the best grade. Does not try to trick you on tests.
great professor!! Easy to understand. Test are easy. All around great guy. I would say a little monotone and class could get boring sometimes but he has a few jokes as well. Take his classes!!
Great professor with great personality! All other ratings are true. Highly recommend him for this class! Will also try to take his PSY 220 class next year. Good luck!:)
I've had Dr. France for Intro to Psych and Child Development. He is an excellent professor, but his rather monotone voice makes it easy to lose focus. Very helpful inside and outside of the class, and always posts lectures and study guides online. If you attend most classes and study a reasonable amount, an A is not difficult to achieve.
He is very kind, but his voice was real problem. His tests were good but sometimes he made confusing meanings in questions.
He tried to help but not helpful.
Easy class, you'll actually learn something, all that's in lecture is on the test (which is very easy). Have to take one of his classes - well worth the time!
nice but boring voice made me sleepy. His tests are not hard and not easy. You can lose points for not understanding his meaning though he was born in US.

if u are looking for a super nice and understanding prof, this is the guy. really goes out of his way to help u understand. expects u to work.
a great and nice professor, as well as funny. exams were straightforward and pretty easy to pass. it was one of my favorite class. i would recommend it to anyone.
Wonderful professor!
He has a boring voice but can be HILARIOUS at times. Easy class. In class assignments so you might wanna attend class as often as possible. He puts the class notes on the ECR. Exams are multiple choice =] Enjoy!
His class was very easy. I would recommend for anyone to take a class with him. He has a pretty boring and flat voice but is funny. His tests are multiple choice and he knows how to explain things very well. Oh yeah he gives out a lot of extra credit.
I took his class Spring'08 and I enjoyed every bit of it. Made it clear and didn't act as if he knew it all. Because of him I have decided to major in Psychology.
Dude! I call him Chris France who does the Francy Pants Dance! He's hilarious, BUT I don't know if he's kidding about how he says he raises his son.
best professor ever! kept the class interesting with his sarcasm and cute jokes. pretty adorable. tests were easy and assignments were easily understandable. one of the best classes i've had so far
Fantastic professor! He explained things very well and he told you everything you would need to know for his tests. His tests were multiple choice and pretty easy if you go to class and learn the material. He's halarious and always there to help students when needed. I would definitely recommend this professor!
Great teacher, okay class. He drops one-liners that will keep you awake. Nice and helpful. If you pay attention and come to class, eassssy A. Offers plenty of extra credit and is open to discussions.
Dr. France is AMAZING. Take whatever classes you can with him. he is so helpful, so fair, funny, and a great teacher. Everything was very clear, and he did everything he could to make sure you did well. Tests are easy, papers a pain in the ass, but he grades fairly and tells you exactly waht to do.
Best professor I've ever had... Take him if you can... No joke...
He is a great guy but the class is very tricky. I studied hard for the tests and i understand how people may have thought he was easy however we were graded by the TA and most of our class ranged from B- through D with test grades. He is a great teacher but not as easygrading as other make him seem because of the horrible TA
Kind of tricky course, he makes outlines of lectures, but theyre only available afterwards. tests not very long so you have to get everything right to get an A! some short essays, can be hard. About 5 assignments. France is nice but the lectures are pretty boring.
By far the best professor I've had at Cleveland. He knows how to make learning interesting and takes full advantage of integrating media and props (he brought a human brain to class) into his lectures. I really enjoyed his class. He also put his lecture notes out prior to class!
If you take notes, you don't need the book. Class notes were very useful. Professor was clear, but still confusing - he skipped around a lot. Study guides were amazing & online notes very useful. He's clear about what he'll be testing on, but it's definitely entry level psych. If you're easily offended, I don't recommend him, otherwise he's great.
Took for child development. Don't waste money on book if you attend lecture and take notes and print outlines prior to class. Topic can be dry at times. Does use other media such as videos on particular topics.
Professor France is a good teacher however he tends to DRONE! This makes his class very boring at times. All of his notes are on the power points. We didn't really use the book. Tests were Multiple choice and there were two web assignments that counted for your grade. He offers extra credit. Pretty easy class.I just found him boring lol
He is a great professor, sometimes does drone, but really does know his information, but does not push it on you which is really nice. 90% of the time there is no homework. Plus he gives study guides for tests which is awesome!
Very easy class and solid professor. Posts all of his notes online and posts study guides for tests. Can be boring at times, but has a good sense of humor and can make the class interesting. Highly recommend!
Easiest class I've ever taken. Dr. France may have a monotone voice, but his dry and sarcastic humor definitely makes up for it. If you listen to lecture, and review his notes, then don't even bother buying the book.
Prof France is for sure an interesting guy. He can be VERY monotone and boring at times, but he is funny. If you attend his class regularly and follow along on his study guides, the class will be an easy A. You don't need the book. He hates when people show up late. Overall good class.
very good professor. class was easy, he gives out study guides which helps a lot. i would take another class with him
Great psych teacher. The class is extremely manageable. He does in class extra credit from time to time so it's definitely worth going to class!!
VERY boring teacher went to SI sessions studied a lot knew my stuff and still did not do well. He makes fun of his students especially those late. He does not seem to care about students. Thought tests were easy, got a 78% on Midterm. Not at all happy with this class. He is boring, lots of studying
Most of class he just reads notes off board. Makes fun of students, and lots of TMI moments about his personal life. Good taste in music though.
this guy was monotone but he did actually care. he's a good warmup to the monotone who wont care. as long as you study the notes/study guides he gives you should do fine. just dont be late and disrespectful in class is all. btw hope you get a good SI guy. ours was more monotoned than france :(
If you want to learn something this is the class to take.
Yes he is very monotoned, but he's a good professor attendance isn't mandatory, but you should go to every class you can, and take notes. SI sessions are extremely helpful. For all those crying he wasn't a good professor 9/10 didn't put the effort in. First exam I kind of studied got a B- next exam I studied and understood the info got 100/100.
don't need to buy the textbook, he posts all notes online. honestly don't even have to go to class all he does is go over notes. easiest class ever.
I love this guy he does teach very well kinda boring but the class is so easy just study his power point and you'll do great. I went to his lecture cause i thought he was interesting and also we secretly did an in class study with him and he was very open to it. got an A+ in class
Horrible teacher, was not helpful at all, complained every morning about his life. Was very rude, grades unfairly. Do not take this class with him. You will regret it.
His class CAN be a little boring at times. He's a really laid back guy and he's approachable, but don't piss him off. Don't be late, it REALLY annoys him. Give him the attention and respect he deserves, AT LEAST read the notes that he posts for you and you should be ok
HIGHLY recommend taking him for lab he is very clear of directions and is always willing to help The papers are long but he is always willing to read over drafts and give you extra feedback. if you go to class and pay attention there is no reason you shouldnt get an A! his lectures are pretty boring though so its difficult to pay attention at times
If you want to actually learn this class then I advise Dr. France. He is not easy but he is very fair and has so much you can learn from. He is interesting and funny. If you are having problems he goes out of his way to help.
Real laid back. Sometimes boring, but class is a lot better if you ask questions. Great class!
At the first appearance, Dr. France's Psych Lab course seems like it is going to be a long monotone semester. If you attend class regularly, he is actually a very funny guy who wants you to get your degree. Maybe not the most fun class to take but he does his best to help you understand what it takes to carry out psych research and write reports.
Show up and follow his notes (He puts them on blackboard before the exams) use the study guide he posts on BB while focusing on his notes per chapter and you should do pretty well. Not easy, but if you at least read his notes two times over before the exam - you should do well
Dr. France is an awesome professor! Great dry humor and straight forward teaching methods. Be on time, take notes in class, pay attention, do not text in class, and do not be afraid to ask questions (during class) if you have them. If you are there to learn, he is there to teach. Exam reviews are a big plus!
Dry, but knows his stuff.
I took him for my freshman psychology class. There's only one midterm and one final, but that's not an excuse to skip as he does do pop quizzes. It wasn't necessarily hard, but I wouldn't consider it a cake walk. Read over the study guide as it's very helpful when studying for exams! He had a good sense of humor so the class was very amusing.
Funny teacher. He is willing to help and the papers are relatively easy. Just show up to classes and pay attention and you'll be fine.
Dr. France is the man. He is not easy but he is fair. Put in the work and you will be fine. His exams are tough, they are lecture-based, definitely cannot even pass the course without going to class. He makes it interesting and funny.
Frances is very dry. his exams info are specific in which area you should focus on but do not give emphasis on what you should be looking at for the test. class is a must be his teaching style makes you not want to come because he barely looks like he want to teach himself. I think he does way more reading than lecturing. would not take him again.
If u enjoy being bored, hearing constant descriptions of the same thing over over again and need to struggle to keep your eyes open.. this is the class for you! Exams barely reflect study guides
He is hilarious. He has a very dry, unique sense of humor. He joked about how old he was almost every class. Second, he was a great professor. He is very knowledgeable especially about schizophrenia and other mental disorders. My favorite thing about him is that he is willing to answer questions during or after lecture. I highly recommend this prof
Christopher France was a pretty cool prof. His lectures are really long but very funny. He has a dry sense of humor and if you like that you will definitely enjoy his class.
Keeps you interested in the materials and study guides are the test. Just show up to the class and read over notes and do the quizzes.
Best professor ever. Seriously. The BEST professor ever.
He is relatively funny, kind of dorky, but nonetheless charming. You have to read the book because all his quizzes are through blackboard and it comes entirely from the book. Go to class because all his lectures are based on notes, which are what your tests are based on, and he talks about things in class that aren't always in the notes.
Gives great notes, engaged, sense of humor and great sense of clarity!
Dr. France is a funny guy who is easy to talk to and will help you out with your papers. The exams are pretty easy, but the papers he grades harsher on, which led me to a B+ in the class. You need to attend class, he doesn't have you sign in or anything, but he seems to check off who is there, and he definitely notices your absence.
Professor France is the best psych professor Cleveland State has.
He has a pretty decent sense of humor. Kinda just drones on so you really have to focus on what he is saying. But he is very knowledgable and I learned a lot.
Lots of extra credit in class just for going. Ended up with about 10 extra points because I always went to class. He's pretty funny, but like all lectures, his can be boring. A few online quizzes for easy points. Three exams, all had study guides. Make flashcards for the exams based on the study guides and you will do really well. Would take again.
He is kinda funny but tends to talk a bit monotone making his class hard to stay awake in. Bring snacks or drinks to keep you awake. Pay attention, READ, and study and you will be fine. I've barely read at all and I'm getting a B at the moment with extra credit! He gives lots of opportunities for extra credit, DO THEM.
He is knowledgeable about the subject but very boring. In addition to being boring he is sarcastic and not funny. He made a student cry during class with his insensitive comments. He uses unnecessary sarcasism when creating his test. He is a fare but tough grader on the papers. I would not suggest taking him.
Dr. France is a great professor. He really cares about the information he is teaching, and he has a solid knowledge on said information. He does in-class grades every once in a while. All notes and quizzes are posted on Blackboard
He gave lots of extra credit, mostly he would randomly pick a day and if you were present in class he would have you write your name down and give you credit. Tests were pretty hard though
Had him for psy lab which is a WAC course so papers are mandatory but he was really easy going. Lenient when possible if you ask him . Willing to help you improve your papers before they are due. Offers specific examples of assignment so you can see what the finished product should look like. Only had 4 papers and 2 exams like 15 questions each
Good teacher, funny and pretty nice. Definitely wants to make sure you know the material. It's a WAC course, so there is a lot of writing but it's not hard if you actually try at it.
Dr. France doesn't grade by much, so if you miss even an attendance day (but you never know when they'll be) you could be in for some trouble. His lectures are survivable at best, be prepared to look out the window for a few hours every week, but if you do sign up, look forward to brain day! He will have another professor bring in real brains.
He's pretty funny, but be prepared to zone out he has a chill voice. Overall, he's smart and well educated, i learned a lot. His exams weren't that bad, were pretty much straightforward and pulled out from the textbook
Dr. France is your typical lecture giving professor. Very hard to pay attention during class and I found it more beneficial to learn the material on my own rather than listen to his monotonous lectures. It is helpful that he puts all the notes online. Do the the study guide and review the quiz questions before exams and results should be fine.
Fair quizzes; tests are straight forward from the lecture and lecture notes.
Has a pretty dry sense of humor, but you get used to it. You don't necessarily need the textbook, but it is extremely helpful for the weekly quizzes and the tests. Takes attendance randomly throughout the semester, so you need to show up. He gives you the notes. As long as you show up and pay attention, you will be fine.
Exam questions are multiple choice; if you know the definitions, you should be able to pass easily. Sometimes throws on questions of examples talked about in class but not in the notes/textbook. Gives occasional bonus point opportunities. He is also likes to crack jokes, Overall, I learned a lot without being stressed out and enjoyed the class!
the option to do studies instead of writing papers to get your credit is amazing and definitely makes this class easier. great lectures, pay attention to his outlines and add your own notes, pay attention to the figures in the textbook that he mentions, test questions come from there. no real homework, just quizzes for each chapter and a few exams.
He was one of the best teachers I have ever had! Tests are easy and straight forward. Show up and study and you will be fine! He also has a good sense of humor.
Going to lecture will help you a LOT in this class. He will put stuff that he says in lectures on exams. Makes jokes throughout class, keeps it fun. Always plays music in the beginning of class! Participate and go to his office to look over your tests for extra points!
PSY 101 is easy but, you never use the book!
Really funny, not a stickler
Christopher France is also lecture heavy. However, they only let me pick 3 things so I had to put hilarious because the guy can tell some good jokes. He is always wanting people to participate, but only like three people do. You have to check blackboard for due dates because he doesn't mention them in class.
Dr. France is a really laid back and funny guy. He is kind of monotone but his personality makes up for it. Tests are very straight forward and he gives out useful notes and study guides. He also likes to give extra credit but you have to be present in class to receive it most of the time.
