It's important to know that Dr. Gade is kind of unforgiving when it comes to little things like mistyping the APA formatting on the paper, so keep a note of that and you'll do fine. The test questions are extremely easy, and he drops your lowest test score as a cherry on top.

The criteria to get an A is ridiculous. Your grade is determined by four exams (best three out of four) and three papers that are each worth 60 points. In order to secure an A, you can only lose 20 points altogether! Exams are based on content directly from the slides but can be on very minute details that are loosely related to psychology.

I'm nearing the end of the semester and I decided to look up the ratings for Dr Gade. I'm shocked by many of the comments. Maybe this is for another class. Attending lectures this semester has felt like I'm attending a movie. The information is clear and I really am learning a lot. I'm not sure what grade I'll get, but I'm very happy.

Gade's course is very well organized and he's very clear and concise in lectures, although not too engaging. His exam questions veryyy specific and the paper prompts can be confusing. My advice is to memorize vocabulary before exams and ask your GSI for help on papers.

I don't know why Gade's ratings are so low, he's great. Lectures and slides are very clear/organized, and he's also quick in responding to emails. There are 3 midterms + a final (but he drops your lowest exam grade), as well as extra credit. Essays are a lot of work, but the criteria is clear, and most GSIs grade pretty leniently and fairly.

Psych 1 was a very easy class- 3 papers, 3 exams. The papers were graded by GSI's and exams were simple memorization. HOWEVER, I will say that Gade is extremely condescending to his students. He definitely has an attitude and talks down to us. He additionally would not let me move an online exam two days when I was hospitalized with a brain injury.
