He's really easy to talk to.
Awesome teacher, Hands Down! If wasn't for him, I wouldn't have known how to write an essay. Highly recommeded teacher!
He is very good in explaining things to the students and is very flexible with the topics, time and style of writing. The students who show improvement in writing and shows eagerness to write well will do fine in his class. Very good teacher.
good teacher who is nice and will explain everything to you clearly. Not so much homework, and easy quizes.
He is VERY clear, understanding, and willing to work with you. However, his grading is NOT easy. He says he will do one thing, then pulls a fast one and gives you something else. His topics are NOT easy, and he has NO structure to the class. However he's a nice guy and easy to talk to and very enthusiastic. This class is a dare, are you willing?
One of the better professors I have had. Very open and approachable.
He's a VERY nice teacher, sincere, very clear. He's understanding, willing to help students, and very flexible on due dates. Out of all the teachers at City College, Greger is by far the best and intelligent professor!
This was my best class so far at CCSF. Greger is intelligent and very thoughful, and it's always great to learn from an exuberant teacher. If you forgive him the impossible nerdiness of wishing to teach the Hobbit, you can get a lot out of the class without too much strain to your schedule or brain. Book list needs updating, though. It had lulls.
He is a nice teacher, but is not a easy class.
He's intelligent and thoughtful. He's the teacher that will really teach you something. But he's grading is kind of strict, and lots of trivial homework. But he is an excellent teacher after all. Highly recommended!
he is a really good teacher, lot of work and kind of hard but he is the type of teacher that you will learn something for sure
He is an awesome teacher. Absolute passionate and well educated about his field and is able to transfer his enthusiasm to the students. It is an honors class, so it is more challenging, but the interesting topics covered are well worth it. I can absolutely recommend him.
I had him for Honors 1B, and he made it painless and fun. He is a great teacher, and his passionate lectures keep you engaged throughout the semester. He is knowledgable and enthusiastic about the material he teaches, and he grades fairly. I got an A.
He is a great teacher, very smart and clear, I slacked but did good on essays so i got a C but if i worked hard and attended class everyday i probably would have got an A, highly recommend
one word, AWESOME! He has passions to teach and does a very good job. I was never a fans of writing. He changed it. I got an F in Eng 90 prior taking him. Every since I took his class. I've been getting straight A/B's in all my writing classes. Thanks Mr.Gregger. You are the best!

greger us a **** all i can say..the guy teachers very clear and is helpful with all his students
Greger is a great helpful professor who teaches with a lot of enthusiasm. His easiness is pretty much on the average line. But when you show interest in the class, that's when he becomes interesting.
best English professor in the land! extremely enthusiastic & always willing to work with students to improve their writing. i would especially recommend his classes to English majors, since he is very knowledgeable & encouraging.
I wasn't particularly interested in English before taking his class, but he made it super engaging. He is a teacher that cares about you to learn in an efficient easy way.
Great Teacher! TONS of homework. For English majors he's ideal but, again, there are 20 to 30 pages to read every other day (some in Middle English!). Make sure your semester schedule allows you to devote a lot of time to the readings you have to prepare for this class. Great Teacher.
Love Dr Greger! Even when you're studying not so interesting lit, he makes you enjoy it because he's so passionate about it. And he's friendly and cool and never gets angry. And he's great at editing and grading papers and giving helpful comments on how to improve them.
Greger is a nice guy.Likes when people see him during office hours.Very helpful he grades the essay more on grammar.
Wonderful, kind, encouraging. everything a teacher should be.
He is an AMAZING professor. English is not really my subject but he makes it very interesting. most of your grade is based on the 6 essays you write, but he also loves participation. overall, he is a very down to earth kind of guy. =]
Coolest guy ever. I recommend you take him for English. When you write your essays, he bases it on improvement. Make sure you get a good peer editor and follow Greger's previous comments on how to improve. Seldom use of the books but a few grammar sessions which can be useful. He's NOT boring OR monotone. A lot of interaction in the class.
Mr Greger is amazing. He is thoughtful, patient, good natured, and truly wants to see us reach our potential. He goes out of his way to make lectures and assignments engaging and fun. His honors class is a lot of work, but you will get back what you put in 10 fold! Highly recommended!
Like everyone said. Truly amazing. I felt like I learned so much from him through this semester. Although he is a hard grader, he makes English fun. Participate in class and you will learn so much from this guy. He seldom uses the textbooks; I suggest you buy them because his homework might come from there.
I never hate him as he gave me a D, maybe I have much to improve. Totally he is a hard grader, but you will learn a lot from him. I don't suggest anyone whose English is not proficient takes his class..
Mr Greger is a nice teacher. He is very helpful and willing to help you when you have trouble with your essay.I learn a lot from him.He is a little bit hard on grade, but if you try your best you will get a good grade. He checked grammar mistakes alot but he doesnt use those to grade your essay. He is such a nice teacher I have ever met.Highly recomme
Mr. Greger is a great teacher. He is clear, patient, helpful, and above all he wants the student succeed. Also, he is very good at encouraging the students to excel in class and in their academic careers in general. He understands if you have any problems, and the material is interesting as well. Highly recommended.
Professor Greger is the best! He's nice, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He knows the information really well, but doesn't overwhelm students with too much to think about. The class is challenging (a big reading load, 2 papers, in-class writings for the midterm/final) but well worth it for any English major.
It's rare to find a teacher like him. He will always help you, always make time for you. Your questions and comments are not irrelevant in his class. Your writing will improve. He is fair and kind and respectful to his students. Very approachable. Take his class!
Dr. Greger is very passionate and engaged with the material studied in the course. This is an honors course and expectations are high, but if you work hard and consult with Greger often, you will do well in his class. 5 Papers with 1 in class covering the Modernists.
Greger is a great teacher, although his class is hard and very time consuming it is suppose to be because of the level you are now at when you get into the class. He is very helpful. I recommend this class to anyone who is trying to make their writing better and who is up for a challenge, because that is what his class is, A CHALLENGE.
He is a great teacher!! Very helpful!!!!
Professor Greger is great! He's helpful, generous and gives very good lectures. I went to his office hours to discuss papers a few times and each time he was really nice. He cares about his students and is just an all-around good professor.
This professor has been challenging and though I had zero interest initially in the subject matter, I have had a mind blowing time in class! The reading is demanding but the discussions are helpful and the material is really interesting. I highly recommend this course. You can make a fabulous grade if you work for it.
Really great teacher. Fair. Reasonable and challenges you. Highly recommend.
Excellent Teacher! His lectures are helpful. He cares about every student in the class and very approachable and understanding. Highly recommended!
Excellent Teacher! His class lectures are helpful. He cares about every students in his class. He is very approachable and understanding. Highly Recommended!
Excellent teacher and very helpful with students. The material is a bit challenging but with the professors guidance you come out of the class a much better writer and critical thinker. Highly recommend this teacher.
Chris is a very good professor. He is one of the most approachable professors in school. He will help you through the material and readings. However I must say, his class is very tough. So if you can handle it, take his class. I barely made it out of his class but I did and it paid off. Taking his class was worth, you will learn a lot from him.
Excellent and clear teacher. This class will make you a better writer. He is encouraging and a cool guy.
Highly recommend! His lecture is helpful, clear. He is always willing to help you with your essay. He even marks down errors on your essay papers so that you know what you should make improvement next time. I love the way he teaches the book: give small quiz, write short journals and share during class; I learned a lot from the reading!
The most genuinely enthusiastic teacher I've ever encountered. It's obvious that he lives for his craft -- it become contagious. I'm absolutely jealous of those who've had him for lower level English classes, he's he is whole-heartily influential. Head of English department as well -- very helpful. Everyone can benefit from his skill and passion.
I'm jealous of the people who skipped over"this guy"and took, someone else!He is the "perfect example"ofthe "cliche"/"lame"professor that "can't" do, so he"teaches".He does more than that, though. He also makes sure to force-feed his extremely liberal ideological beliefs down the throats of students
Greger was one of he best english teachers ever!!!! He let me slide on alot of stuff. He is very lenient and nice. His class is easy, but you do have to do alot of essays, kinda. he's bomb! i think EVERYONE should take him
Dr. Greger made me fall in love with good fiction. He introduces new material, asks questions and is genuinely delighted by his students' insights and delight in it. He teaches ways to analyze literature but I wish he had had us copy writers' styles more as an exercise. He knows the subject matter very well. A lot of reading. Maybe too much. Open.
After my 2 years at city,I moved on to a UC. Although there are some brilliant professors at my current UC, I feel that Greger outdoes them all! He is a brilliant& well spoken. His lectures are extremely thorough, organized & engaging. The world needs more professors like him. It's been 2 years since city, I STILL miss his class :/
This professor is amazing. He is intelligent, witty, respectable, diligent, and the list just goes on and on. Honestly, Dr. Greger does not belong at CCSF he should be teaching graduate school somewhere, he is that good!I recommend him, he will change your life. The only downside is that he is not good with email, and takes forever to grade papers.
I hate English, but Dr. Greger made it tolerable. He's one of, if not, the best English teacher I have had. Although he assigns a lot of work, he will prepare you for higher English classes. He is also very clear on what he wants you to do! He seems very enthusiastic so it's very hard to fall asleep in his class. Take him if you can!:D
Dr.Greger is an amazing teacher! Yes, his class demands working wholeheartedly, but it is very rewarding! He is very timely and even types up the feedback sheets for essays. He challenges students to really think critically and develop their opinions. If you take his class, be prepared to become a better writer! Grade: B
Greger is one of those professors who aim to benefit the student. He tries to make the class more interesting, and even though the class is not a demanding one, he offers extra credit assignments.
I've experienced some good teachers, but Dr. Greger was by far the best. Reason being: He knows how to motivate the student into writing better essays, he truly cares about the student, he knows his stuff, and he is genuinely a very nice man. Although his class was challenging, reading one of the assigned books, "Frankenstein" was an upmost pos exp
I had two classes with Dr. Greger this past semester- eng lit and a humanities. He was interesting, well-learned and passionate in both subjects and brought great energy to class. He was extremely flexible, supportive and always available to work with me when I needed additional help. I highly recommend, and will look for his classes in the future.
My first review for any professor and for good reason. Chris is extremely passionate about what he teaches and is flexible with assignments. He is the most respectable, professional, and charismatic teacher I know. I've had him for Eng1A and Hum41B and both have been a great experience. I guarantee you'll be inspired once you hear this man speak.
Dr. Greger is an amazing teacher! It's very easy to get behind with all the reading, but he does a great job of covering everything. Any troubles I had were entirely my fault (I'm a procrastinator, which doesn't help when the class is almost entirely reading). He's flexible and will do what he can to help his students succeed.
Really good teaching ethics, wish I could have a teacher like this for all my classes. Very understanding of parental responsibilities yet will give you the realistic point of view of your status in his class and will tell you exactly what needs to be done to pass. Easy A as long as you show up and do the assignments.
he was a great teacher ! & when i say easy A i don't mean its a remedial class i mean that do all of your work and you will do great , he is a beyond fair grader and even accepted my late work with no points taken off , he's super fair & understanding of your situations. i hope I can get him for my english 1B class :)
As a student that has always excelled in English and writing I found Greger's class pleasantly challenging. His expectations are CRYSTAL CLEAR and lays out the organizational framework to succeed. I never got higher than an A- on my papers, which was frustrating but I can't dispute his feedback, so I think he is fair. Material is interesting !
Prof. Greger is simply amazing! I used to hate English classes, but he made me love it! He was perfect for my 8 a.m. class because he is so fun and engaging! Also, he is super helpful, and very clear on what he expects in your essays. He also gives complete written comments for each paper, which is very helpful and helps you succeed! Take him!!!!
Dr. Greger is awesome! His class is not easy but he makes it really clear what he expects from you. What i love about him is that he gives full comments on your essays and lets you correct your mistakes. He is very helpful and very nice! I would take him again if i could.
Dr. Greger is one of the bet teachers at CCSF for a reason. He is probably the most enthusiastic human being I've ever met which certainly helps when the subject is dealing with the early beginnings of English Lit. He lectures pretty much the entire class and back tracks/repeats a ton but its all very helpful. He rocks pretty hard
Chris is an amazing professor! His lectures are fun, integrative, and he makes you think outside the box. Assigns reading that makes you question life in a different perspective and challenges you to be a better writer. I had some problems with my writing in the beginning and was always available during office hours. Expect 10 page paper at the end
Greger is the hands down best teacher I have EVER had. His expectations are reasonable & if you need help he will go the extra mile to do so. His topics for class & relevant and intriguing. He really tries to help you improve your writing with feedback & suggestions. He accommodates the needs of every student from ESL students to advanced students.
By far the best collegiate English professor I have ever had. As an English major, I have had numerous English professors. He is so enthusiastic and understanding, also down to earth and extremely intelligent! I wish I could have him for every collegiate English class.
He is a great teacher, awesome lectures if you like history. It is a very entertaining class and not hard to get an A. He gives chances to improve your grade and he is not a tough grader at all.
Dr. Greger is one of the best professors you'll ever have in college. His enthusiasm and passion for teaching radiates, and he is so precious. He is a great thinker, and challenges you to think critically and creatively. He also takes the time to offer constructive feedback on all your essays so you can flourish. CCSF is very lucky to have him.
Kind and humble. The material is very interesting and makes you think in a new way. He's also very caring. There's obviously going to be a lot of reading and writing since it's an English class. Duh.
Chris is a great professor. His class is difficult if you are not intelligent. You must read and write good papers.
What a peach! Consider taking his class--he gives wonderful feedback and is very clear on his expectations for you when it comes to your essays and whatnot. Homework is sometimes helpful for the essay, sometimes not. His choice in what material the class covers is really good! I liked pretty much everything we read. Go, Greger!
The best and most caring prof. I've ever had. Lectures are amazing and were never boring. Gives a good amount of homework and reading but is easy if you keep up. You must get the books he assigns. Had four major essays but he is willing to help you improve on your writing skills. Says he will curve your grade if he sees improvement on your essays.
Great help on improving your writing. The amount of work is spread out so you're not stressed over it. You'll have to write around 5 essays but he gives guidelines and does peer editing to help. Best teacher to have!
He takes you to a journey in literature.
Best teacher I've ever had. Would take him again for sure.
Caring, understanding, passionate. I love how we read so much books and all ties to our main topic. His choice of readings are gem. He knows hjs material so well. He makes u do reading journals. Midterm and Final test, then 2 essays. All regarding the readings. If u read u're in a right path. He is very great in giving feedbacks.
He requires the txtbook but I got an A without even reading it. He gives study guides and his papers are easy to write. Just take notes when he discusses the art and writing and you should pass the tests easily. There isn't too much work. It was fun taking his class.
Dr. Greger is skilled in his work. A real gem! 2 Tests are all about what you read and discuss in the class. There are 2 papers and lots of extra credit opportunities. Office hours and emails are open. Best Professor at CCSF! Take his class. He is , supportive, inspiring, understanding, and even though he is the chair of Eng. Dep he is humble 100%!!
Best English professor at CCSF
Dr. Greger is a real gem! He is passionate, great thinker, undertanding, and always available for office hours to his students. I am so blessed and honored to be in his class and listen to all his excellent lectures! Take his class! Be a sponge, absorb everything he has to offer. CCSF is privilege to have this professor. Take his classes.
Dr. Christopher Greger is a real genius, but he would down and meet students level to guide them in their learning, but also challenges their thinkig. BEST professor I ever had at CCSF. He is a great thinker, philosophical, and his class goes along with schedules in the readings. There are 2 essays, 2 exams, and a reading journal. Take his class!!
Professor Greger is a great teacher who is knowledge in writing. Even with online class, his class was clear and informative enough for me to learn. You have to stay on top your assignments or you'll fall behind. There's a good amount of reading in his class and a couple discussion posts per week. Three essays and a final timed essay.
Professor Greger is one of my wonderful instructors in Fall 2020. He understands what students need to improve. Although the lectures somehow are heavy, learners will learn a lot from that. Time management to complete assignments and examination is required.
Professor Greger is very passionate about this course. The course was taught online given the stay at home order. I would have loved to attend his lectures in person. Every week there was assigned reading, discussion of the reading, and reflection on visual art. Easy A if you do the assignments. Take this class!
Greger is a great teacher. We read exciting and unusual essays and we could talk a lot about what we read in the class. Greger values everyone's opinion and gives excellent comments.
Dr. Greger is an outstanding, wise, and thoughtful professor with a great passion for education. With interesting assigned readings, he guides students to think critically and logically. Dr. Greger's lecture connects students with the ancient world was an amazing journey. His lecture makes things interesting, impressive, and unforgettable.
Good professor for ENG 1B, he gives clear feedback and the assignments are not difficult. Your grade is heavily influenced by the essays, so make sure to prep for those and do your best. Because of this, I'd say his class was an easy B, hard A.
Prof Greger is really nice and very impressionable despite being an online course. Gives at least 3-4 assignments a week and essays are usually 4-5 pages long. He makes the class interesting by producing relatable and intriguing topics. Recommend taking if you're just starting out for English.
Professor Christopher is one of the best English teachers. He is so nice. I recommend students should take his class.
Dr. Christopher Greger is amazing. In this class, we need to do weekly 2 discussions and 2 papers of around 6 to 8 pages. No exams and quizzes. He responds to messages 24 hours not Sat & Sun if we have questions. I recommend taking his class.
English 1A: I took it online since I live far from the campus, but I wished I had taken it in person. He is an amazing and inspirational teacher. Even online, his lectures are easy to follow and a lot to learn from. He gives good feedback and encourages you to re-submit your assignments if you show interest.
Professor Greger is a great teacher who wants you to succeed. There are four essays in this class and the rest is mostly discussions/short answers. The grade for your essay increases each time as long as you show improvement. The topics we discussed and wrote about were also extremely interesting. He gives good feedback on essays which helps you.
Dr. Greger is beyond amazing. As someone who does not like reading, I enjoyed reading the course material and found his course interesting and engaging. Dr. Greger exudes kindness in every sense and only wants you to succeed. You can tell he has put a lot of thought and passion into his course. Truly, one of the kindest professors.
Prof Greger's ENG1A is an engaging class, whether online or in-person. He provides thoughtful feedback and encourages participation. Unstuck AI was a helpful study tool alongside the free course materials.
Christopher gives by far the best and most thoughtful feedback out of any other teacher I have had at CCSF. This class was also my favorite one I took this whole semester. If you appreciate art, this is a wonderful outlet to discuss it more. This was a wonderful experience-- so much so that I want to encourage others to take this course too!
You can tell Dr. Greger truly cares about the subject and his students! Clear on his expectations for assignments. If you had a question regarding an assignment, he responded promptly and accurately. The coursework was not that interesting to me, but that is not due to Dr. Greger's teaching abilities.
