I loved his class. He is such a great professor, best one yet! He make Psychology interesting and fun. He really does care about his students and their grades. He gives out extra credit and gives out helpful study guides. take his class you wont regret it!

Take Dr. Hafen if you have the chance. He is a great professor. He teaches in a very simple and clear cut way. Dr. Hafen also has a good sense of humor. He definitely empathizes with his students. Also, he's young and very attractive! Pay attention in lectures and you will succeed.

This was my second time taking this class, I wish I would have taken him first! I drove one hour to and from class to take him and would do it again in a heart beat. He is honest, upfront (no surprises), and explains the material so that dummies like myself can understand. He is an "A for effort" type of professor. You'll learn a lot, take him.

If you are able to take Professor Hafen, take him! Most classes have in-class assignments worth 10 points each, so if you show up and pay attention you will rack up points in no time. He has engaging lectures to help you retain what we are learning. There are two exams, an observational paper, and presentation with all clear guidelines. TAKE HIM!

Professor Hafen is honestly great and I would take him again if I could. The assignments are easy and fun. It gets you thinking about a lot of things you never thought about. He does assign 2-3 papers but they are too easy. No textbook needed. If you want to pass psychology with a great teacher and that is easy professor Hafen is for you.

Really easy class. Even if math is not your thing, if you pay attention and take notes every class you will pass. Textbook not really needed unless you want more practice questions and help.

Hafen is a great professor. He is extremely nice and makes sure you understand the material. Two exams, 10 point assignments, and a paper. It is an easy A class if you work for it. His corny jokes are adorable. He also uses funny clips as examples for the material. If I was a PSY major, I would only choose him as my professor.

Dr. Hafen's class was one of my favorites ever. He is so passionate about what he does, and with a PhD in developmental psych, he has plenty of firsthand experience. Not only does he understand the material, but also the human mind. He knows how to break up long classes and lectures to keep you alert, even in a 3+ hour block. Loved him!

I was told I was going to hate STATs because it's so difficult to learn but Prof Hafen made it so understandable. He really cares about us getting it and just wants us to understand the material. He's really funny and accepts late homework. Tests aren't that bad and there's a project at the end of semester but he's not the worst grader. 10/10

Dr Hafen has been one of the best professors I have ever encountered. His lectures are interesting, and even interactive at times. I love how he graded assignments and even short essay questions(Exams) by what you know and not based on the right, exact answers. He really allowed us to explore our own thoughts and understandings of the material.

Fave class at NOVA, hands down. Dr. Hafen really cares about his students doing well & it shows. The info is somewhat difficult, but he makes it clear, to the point, & entertaining to pay attention to. If you try, you'll do well. Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory for grade, but if you don't go you'll be totally lost.

Professor Hafen is the BEST professor ever! He got a sense of humor, friendly, and caring. Even you just ask him a question one time he'll still come to you later to make sure you understand everything and make sure you got his email reply. Easy homework (Completion grade), do the study guide review and you will get a good grade on exams! Easy A :)

He is so caring for his students and really goes the extra mile. He will gladly go over things until you get it and makes class easy. He gives homework but gives time in class to do it and its usually 1-8 questions. His class is so eas, but you need to show up to understand the concepts. Will reply fast and with great detail! :)

Great course and great professor. If you like psychology, you'll like the class. Though attendance did not seem mandatory, I would recommend going to class since the lectures are what make up the exam topics. Online textbook was used, although I barely looked at it.

By far the best professor I've had at NOVA! He's a great professor and makes lecture fun. He's also very caring and understanding. You honestly have to try to fail his class in order to get anything lower than an A. If I have to take another Psych class, it will for sure be with Dr. Hafen!

Professor Hafen was one of my favorites! I had long lectures and didn't mind them at all. His lectures were so interesting and always made them easy to understand. There were only a few things we were graded on so,just making sure you do those gives you an A.

greatest teacher that wasn't art class. He gives amazing lectures. funny. intelligent youre graded is based on 4 things 2 exams, a presentation, and a observation paper. there are some smaller little homeworks but they are pretty easy both of the exams are easy, i used flash cards and i got a B the rest of the grades are pretty easy.

Professor Hafen is a great lecturer. He's committed his material to memory and never really looks at his slides. His PSY-200 class has only two exams, and 10 assignments which were mostly short-answer format. He also incorporates videos, group activities, and everyday examples for his lectures which make the material easier to remember.

Dr Hafen is so nice and such a great professor. He does so many odd/fun class activities to help you remember the material.

Cares about more than just his students. He's genuinely a good person who cares a lot about the well-being of all people. Very easy to talk to and funny. His tests are easy and he gives out study guides that highlight what you need to go over. Lets you choose which format you want to take your final too. Grades based on effort and what you put in.

My first semester psych professor was an absolute nightmare and almost entirely put me off to the field as a whole. Deciding to take a chance on a first year class I showed up and was immediately met with warmth and sincerity from Dr. Hafen. No regrets.

Professor Hafen is a fair and caring teacher. He's willing to stay after class to answer any questions or clarify any information needed. He responded fairly quickly to any emails and sent practice questions for me to work on whenever I asked. I have taken Dr. Hafen for 4 courses (he teaches 5 at NVCC). He is phenomenal. This research course could potentially be hard but he is phenomenal at making difficult topics understandable. I have gotten A+'s in every single class I have taken with him. He does not take attendance, but he does do in class participation work. TAKE HIM TO GET AN A!!!

Amazing teacher. He is a very patient and grades are very straightforward. Homework is graded based on effort not correctness. So the number of questions you attempt is the number of points you get and then he goes through the questions step by step in the next class. Three test are given and they are "easy" if you do the practice problems before.

Professor/Doctor Hafen was and is one of my favorite professors. He always responded to my emails and questions very quickly and was very clear on his instructions. He grades fairly and honestly if you just do the work, you should have no problem passing with an A. I'm taking him again for another class next semester! Already looking forward to it

Dr. Hafen is probably my favorite professor at NOVA. He makes statistics so easy to comprehend, I was legitimately shocked by how easily I was able to understand math because of him. If you feel like you'll struggle with Behavioral Statistics I seriously recommend his class. He is very nice and will not hesitate to help you understand something.

Prof. Hafen is a great teacher and he really cares about his students. He realizes that statistics is a tough subject and he breaks it down so it doesn't feel overwhelming and is easy to understand. Tests are all open book and he even posts video tutorials you can use. I'd definitely recommend taking his class to anyone. So glad I did!

Hafen was always encouraging and accessible. Signing up for this class, I was nervous, but Hafen made sure the assignments were easy to understand. Textbook (OER) was provided although not used. There are three exams and not many assignments. If you are worried about taking statistics, take Hafen. If I could give him more than five stars, I would.

Professor Hafen is one of the nicest and most patient professors I've ever had. I'm terrible at math but his lectures were easy to follow and he would explain anything that came up. Homework is also easy as it was graded on effort, although the tests were graded on accuracy. He gives plenty of help and even materials to use on assignments.

Hafen is approachable so that makes it easy to ask questions! His class consisted of three exams which are all very similar to the study guides he provides. Chris was an amazing professor. He made the material easy to understand and the work was all simple. He's also a Slytherin! So he won't let you waste your time on assignments that he doesn't think are necessary. The homework assignments were fun and creative. Unexpected for a college math class! I always looked forward to his lectures.

Chris Hafen is one of the best professors I could have ever chosen for a "math course". He made every lecture 100% understandable and was always patient answering questions. He does not believe in textbooks, so he gives you all the information you need. When he assigns tests, you usually have 5 days to a week to complete it, open note. Choose him!

I had PSY 210 with him and he was by far the best professor I ever had! He has so much empathy for his students and makes the content so easy to understand. There are 3 exams and weekly graded for completion short assignments. He gives a 10 min break for 2 hr class. Taking notes during lecture helps a TONNN with assignments and studying for exams.

The lectures were supported by a slide deck while the prof. gave connotations and personal experience to provide more helpful knowledge. Slides were put in canvas for students to review. The professor is very open and appreciates questions or comments; also clear in all assignments and exams! A few times class was cancelled due to personal reasons.

I'm retaking. But this time I getting A.When I got D in this course I thought psychology is a hard subject as a IT major.But prof.Hafen made it easy for me and learned too many things. The teacher was kind and compassionate, and made learning stress-free. He assigned two short assignments per week (no longer than 15 minutes to do) and provided exam questions beforehand (4-5 short answers). The final exam grade was the average of the first two exams, but students could take the third exam for a higher grade. Will be taking again.

Professor Hafen is a fantastic psychology professor, very funny and engaging and will answer any questions you have. There's not a lot of homework, however you'll write 2 papers and do one presentation total. Attending the lectures is KEY to passing this course as the 2 midterms and 1 final pull from that material. Dr. Hafen is one of the BEST professors at NOVA Manassas. He is so much fun and really cares about his students. Not a lot of homework, so if you want to pass the class lecture attendance is a MUST, and you have to study for tests (not hard as he provides a formula sheet but you do have to prepare). This is the first time I have actually enjoyed waking up and going to class because of how entertaining lectures were.
