probably my favorite teacher his class can be hard its just taking the time to actually do the work. His lectures are fun and really thought provoking definitely recommend him he teaches you how to be a good student all around

I thought I would HATE philosophy and probably fail, but Dr. Haugen made the class super fun and easy. He posts his lectures on the class blog, the whole class time was class discussion, and you come up with your own test questions. Super easy class would totally take him again. Hope this helps

Professor Haugen is a great professor and really makes you view things in a completely different view. Be prepared to do a lot of work and reading. He is funny and goofy. I would highly recommend taking his class.

Yes, he does assign homework no late work accepted. He make's videos from what the book is based upon so it makes it easier to understand. Helps you if you ask. Class is very interesting, you really have to keep up with the readings though if you don't I promise you you'll get lost. A really good professor, he is passionate about what he teaches.

By far one of the best instructors at San Antonio College. He gives a lot of work, and at it times it may be rough. However, this is NOT high school anymore. Professor Haugen is a great professor to learn from. As a freshman in college, I learned so much from his that has prepared me for other college courses. Mr. Haugen's class was great.

We met four days a week for class. when we did have class he had powerful lectures, added power points and slide shows, he taught from the book without the requirement needed, and really made me think about my life and my choices. Very interesting professor and really knows his stuff. He provides the book and documents youll need. He provides videos explaining every philosopher in detail so that you understand clearly. Theres homework weekly but he pretty much goes over it in class ans gives you documents to follow and videos that have all the answers. Take his course.

This class will make you question a lot of things that you believe, no matter how bad it hurts.

Dr. Haugen is a good instructor. He requires the assigned reading and online lecture be completed prior to class. This is so that class time can be dedicated towards discussion. You must watch the videos and skim the reading as well as show up to class consistently in order to do well. **BTW Rate my professor has poor statistical analysis.**

I'm not one that likes to do homework but i took this class and was easily amused by all of the interesting things that the philosophers had to say , he makes videos that makes it 10x's easier so you dont necessarily have to read in order to pass. There are alot of class discussions , but they are fun yet easy

I really enjoyed this class although rmp is not an excellent way to base your opinion on a teacher I would recommend take him. Professor haugen wants you to work for your grade and if you can't make it to class on time than do not take his class.

This course is pretty simple. It might blow your mind, because it's Philosophy. So, this is what's going to happen. You're gonna be learning about different Philosophers each week. You have to do the discussion, quiz and watch his videos. (yes, he records himself to lecture) it's like 30 minutes long. And when you get to class, have your notes!

He's great! Highly recommend him! Be prepared to be confused and question your entire life, but that's what philosophy is. Attendance is important, or else you will miss a lot of info for tests. Discussions/video quizzes are automatic 100's (unlimited amount of tries on video quizzes). It's an easy A, just pay attention and do the work.

Amazing teacher! Super funny and tries to make the class easier to understand through his video lectures. Attendance is very important and watch your phones...I did get kicked out of one class period for responding to a message from my mother. Other than that, very good class. 10/10 would take him again

Dr. Haugen- best professor I've ever had. Took his 1301 AND 2306 courses because he is THAT good. Extremely intelligent and caring person, and gives very clear explanations of topics. His online vids are very creative. Even he will tell you it's an easy A. If I had to choose, 2306(ethics) is more interesting. TAKE HIS CLASSES. YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

He's a good teacher. To get an A just need to do the work and show up, attendance is a must. He really wants participation in his Socratic lectures, though it's more like he wants you to fill in his blanks, not really give your point of view. Either way, the class moves along and you do learn.

This is definitely one of my favorite professors I've ever had. The lectures that you'll have in his class will open your eyes and they will make you think. Don't be afraid to give your feedback, there really is no wrong answers. Stay on top of all the work, and show up to class. Youll really enjoy it.

Read. Read. Read. Follow directions. Keep good notes and outline as instructed. Video lectures are not boring. They're quite informative. No need to run out and buy a textbook. He'll provide. Quizzes have unlimited attempts. Take them enough times and you have the exam questions and your outline will be easier cause you know what he'll expect.

Easy A for me. You MUST listen to the lectures. Write down all the questions and keep them for exams. Do the homework (<10 questions) over and over till you get 100. If you give a decent effort, and take good notes during lectures, you will get an A. I enjoyed the lectures, he GIVES YOU ALL THE ANSWERS IN THE LECTURES. Very fair grader.

My second class with this professor. This is not an easy A class, but you will definitely learn a lot from it. Do the work and practice the exercises. You have unlimited tries for the hw which is very generous. He even uses his own materials so you don't buy a textbook. Awesome instructor, I love his teaching style because he makes you think.

I took his five week summer class. I wouldn't change a thing. Lots of videos. Easy homework if you know what you are doing.

Took his FTF class a full semester. Professor Haugen really enjoys his job, but sometimes sounds arrogant. He gives 2 assignments per week all of it is due sunday at 11:59. Quizzes don't show the answers BUT you can take unlimited tries and get all of the answers. Tests are literally all the quiz questions and you can get all those by retaking.

Currently taking. He gives great lectures about our weekly readings, and makes class fun. No textbook,he provides a pdf format of the excerpts. You will have to bring in a copy of the chapter we are discussing that week, if you do not you wont get credit for the day. No makeup work or extra credit. Three tests over chapters, which count for 49%.

Don't have to buy his textbook, he wrote it and supplies a free PDF. His in class lectures/ videos are MUCH easier to understand than the text itself, which is full of complicated paragraphs. Attendance is mandatory and very helpful in understanding the material. HW is challenging but doable. Overall a great and funny professor to teach this course

His course is divided into modules that have 4 parts each - review video over textbook content (he provides the book for free)(videos are typically 15-30mins long), reading & video quiz, & synoptic. 3 exams total w/3 practice ones too. Late work/makeup work not accepted. Decent size workload but fairly easy regarding difficulty.

Dr. Haugen is very enthusiastic for the subject of philosophy and teaching, kept me interested and motivated to come to class. The intentions were clear of what he wanted us to learn, not left to open-ended interpretation that left a margin for error.

For an online class, I honestly did not expect to receive much feedback on assignments. He was diligent and fair when it came to giving feedback on the assignments towards me; and the class announcements made for the class. The videos were awesome. I'm usually a face to face learner, but the videos made me feel like it was a classroom.

Dr. Haugen has won my respect. He is one of the few teachers who WANTS you to learn the material, and not just get a grade. He truly cares about his job and his reputation. Professor Haugen has a great approach to teaching. He lectures, uses videos and discusses real life issues. He mixes in a little humor as well. To get the most out of this class I suggest either in class or Zoom teachings.

Quizzes are the same questions as EC. Tests are very similar to quiz but not exactly the same. I would highly recommend him, you won't regret it!!

Philosophy is a class I dreaded taking. I am not religious and sciences and questioning are just not my thing and never have been. This professor is absolutely amazing. I knocked his class out in a week. Highly recommend. His lectures are also very exciting and entertaining

1 module per 2 days. Things are due often. There is 4 assignments per module but some are 2 questions and they are easy to complete. This class is easy. Some say do not have other stuff going on. I work 6 jobs 80 hour work weeks and I am in 15 hours over a summer semester and got a 98 in this course Not hard to complete just time manage.

This is genuinely one of the best professors I ever had. I am writing this review a year later because I just simply cannot thank this professor enough for everything he did. He wants you to learn, and he is passionate. He helped me achieve my goals and motivated me as well. This professor has never escaped my mind since this class, please take it.

Love that ALL ASSIGNMENTS are open from day one. He's a stickler with his reading quizzes so READ & do the quizzes, those help. For assignments: he DOES NOT give extensions & if you have a reason provide documentation otherwise it is a zero. He is understanding & is clear about what he expects from you. EVERYTHING is explained in his syllabus.

Oh my gosh. He may possibly be my favorite professor and I haven't ever met him. Not only does he make Philosophy interesting and engaging, but his course work is helpful in learning the subject well. I genuinely remember so much from this class because I enjoyed it so much. I may have failed professor Haugen’s class, but I enjoyed every second I was in it. His material is complicated by nature but he does a good job explaining it. The only real complaint I have is the abundance of terms he requires memorisation of, however that too is more the fault of the material.

Dr. Haugen is nice and lays everything you need out for you. There are set assignments he has for you each week, so no surprise assignments. As long as you understand the assignment and how to do it properly you should be fine.

Dr. Haugen is a professor who cares about his role, and it shows in the classroom. His method of teaching is unique but works! That being said, it takes the first week or two to get the hang of his ways. Trust the process! Dr. Haugen sets you up for success, your grade depends greatly on your participation and utilizing his resources.

Dr. Haugen's philo class is lit! He's mad passionate about philosophy and his lectures are hella engaging. He's all about critical thinking and encourages us to share our thoughts. The way he connects the material to real life is literally life changing.

Haugen is hands down my favorite professor. I've taken all three of his philosophy courses. The content is incredibly interesting and good to know. These are the only classes in the past 2 years to actually challenge me. Don't let the bad reviews fool you, just b/c they couldn't handle his class doesn't mean he's inept. All you have to do is try.

Professor Haugen assigns a reading a week, he has videos to help understand each reading and the lectures help you comprehend philosophy a little more. He is pretty straight forward about his grading just put in the work and you will pass the class. Always take notes on his videos and in class lectures you will need them.

The class is pretty straightforward in terms of asynchronous directions and assignments. However, regarding the Reading quizzes be sure to follow his steps in completing the assignment. Although it seems like a lengthy process or a lot of back and forth, it does make a huge difference in your work and comprehension. Extra Credit helps a lot, do it!

Read modules. A game theory part will give a chance to score big extra credit only for TWO peers. Plan with the class to figure out which TWO should choose the big extra credit and your other classmates will get some extra credit, too! My idea: give the big points to the low and high scoring peers. Make them help each other thereafter. Good luck!!!

Dr. Haugen was an entertaining teacher, and I really enjoyed his quirky youtube videos. ifykyk His assignments seem to come up really fast, so be prepared by staying ahead by a week. No joke. This class was so interesting. Highly recommend Dr. Haugen.

Very good lectures! Comprehensive and interesting. Weekly reading assignments can be daunting, but they just takes time and effort. Tests and quizzes are very fair and if you're prepared you will pass easily. He's cool! I liked his videos too, they help a lot!

He was not overloading with homework you get one story a week and about 3-4 assignments. Very straight forward in grading it is an easy A as long as you take notes pay attention and follow his assignment directions. You can easily fail as well he does not take late work but if you just do the assignments you will pass.

I loved Dr. Haugen he was an amazing professor. This teacher genuinely loves his job and it is very evident. If I had to retake another ethics course I would 100% have him again. When I say read the rubric: READ THE RUBRIC!! The feedback is super bland and doesn't help much, so you're better off actually sitting down and dissecting the reading quizzes format. The lecture videos are good, use them to study for the exams along with the quizzes. Not a bad professor, just wish there was more effort on interaction.
