If you show any interest in the course material, ask questions, and generally try to do the work, he will go to great lengths to help you. This guy is crazy. He lectures the whole class and asks very unrealistic questions. The "required text" is a book written by him. It sucks that this class is a required elective because he also said "this is philosophy we won't actually learn anything in this class". Weekly assignments, easy A, and the biggest waste of time ever.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE. There is so much useless busy work and it can be super overwhelming. The reading questions take 3 hours to complete and theyre only worth 10 points. Multiple essays due every week and a pointless journal between you and the professor. The textbook is super confusing too. Good luck if you have to take him online.

Textbook written by the professor is one of the most poorly written things I've ever read. Questions and answers on tests and in readings are almost illegible and very confusing. Expects a lot of work from students -- weekly essays, reading assignments that take hours -- but gives little feedback or any actual teaching (this was an online class).

Please do not take this class. It was extremely work heavy, terribly organized, and confusing because of all the misplaced / misspelled words in the directions. He never replies to anyone's questions or gives feedback. And the textbook wasn't that great at explaining the material.

This was by far the worse professor I ever had. The textbook for this course was written by the professor. The organization of the text was confusing and the actual content was contradictory and poorly proofread. In the first week of the course, he wanted a lengthy essay on top of a test. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I dropped the course.

When signing up for this course, I checked this page and became slightly anxious. He's not bad at all. The work is simple, you know what to expect each week, and he's a very fair grader. I'm taking the 7-week online section, currently sitting at an A+ with two weeks left. I don't recommend this section if you're 18 with poor attention habits.

Prepare to write 3,000-6,000 words a week, only to get a copy&paste response riddled with misspellings. He clearly doesn't read through assignments (or his own textbook for that matter). All that effort you put into assignments is not reciprocated in his grading. If you ask a question, don't expect an answer. Worst professor in my 4 years @ BSU.

Spends most all class lecturing and is incredibly boring to listen to. Likes to hear himself talk I think. Assigns a ridiculous amount of homework for a 100 level class and doesn't even read what you turn in. Super disorganized as well and made a 100 level class stressful for no reason. A total mess. Highly recommend against.

His textbook is not refined, and is a pain to read. It is basically a money grab because it was not well written. Professor is not giving or understanding, and to be honest was one of the worst professors I have ever had. Lives a sad philosopher life, and doesn't understand that his way isnt the best way.

This Professor was the WORST I have encountered. Assignments are unclear, grading is arbitrary. This class is not to learn and be exposed to philosophy, if you want that there are plenty of YouTube lectures and other online resources that will enlighten you. Mr. Innes is a self-important, wind bag who forces you to buy his own book.

DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS PROF. ESPECIALLY if you like Philosophy. He makes you buy a textbook he wrote, which is the worst book on philosophy I've ever read. He often is just wrong in presenting concepts, uses unnecessarily complex language, and obscures rather than elucidating. You will write SO much, and he doesn't read it. Fire this man.

By far the most demanding course I've taken, and it's a 100-level class. The professor requires you to buy his own textbook and accuses students of using outside sources unfairly. I feel like AI grades our work, given the excess of errors. Expect 3,000+ words of writing weekly. The structure is lazy, and the workload is excessive with no break.

Professor Innes' class can be hit or miss. His textbook is lacking, but the lectures are engaging if you stay focused. Use unstuckstudy and other resources to supplement the course material. Overall, a decent philosophy class if you put in the effort.

If taking his 7-week course, prepare to write approximately 5,000 words weekly. This volume of the workload feels highly disproportionate to the average 100-level course at BSU. Additionally, the sole source of course material is a textbook written by Innes, which I feel limits the scope of philosophical exploration as opposed to nurturing it.
