Easy lab teacher, very helpful. Made weekly quizzes as easy as possible. Gives a lot of half credit points on assignments and quizzes. Highly recommended!
Chris Jung is a wonderful lab professor! I highly recommend him! He made lab fun and easy, and I was very happy with the way he taught.
Horrible. Never has an answer for anybody's questions. Isn't thorough with information at all. I could have taught this course better. DON'T take this course with him.
His lecture was "so-so", lots of power point and the tests were kind of hard. In fairness to the other person that said he didn't answer questions... some people have some pretty random off subject question that I wouldn't expect an A&P instructor to know. His lab was awesome though, really interactive and helpful. Very glad I had him for lab.
Awesome lectures, fun, and very easy to understand difficult concepts. A pleasure to take anatomy and physiology with. He frequently related lecture concepts to real life scenarios, resulting in easier retention of material, along with good powerpoints of important concepts from the text book.
Chris ROCKS! He's down to earth, funny, helpful, and very hands-on. The Midterm was brutal, but it was the same exam all the lab professors gave. Chris makes the quizzes easy, but studying is never a bad thing. I recommend this professor, and would sit in his lab again.
LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM!!!! I would e-mail or ask specific questions and if he did not know the answer he would look it up for me. Very laid back and hands on, I do however recommed stdying for the final and midterm from day one of class though.
He is amazing! Absolutely love him as a professor. He makes difficult concepts understandable. Answers questions straight forward and not difficult. He is helpful and tries to make everything easy as possible. When e-mailing him he replies back with an answer sufficiently. TAKE HIS CLASSES! Studying the material before hand is a must as well.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. If he doesn't know the answer he will find it asap. Goes over all material and points out things to know does constant reviews and listens to feedback given by the students. This is a hard class and self study is a must but Chris made this class fun and less stressful than it could have been.
This guy is nice, clear and funny. he is one of the best professors i've had at UAA. tests are clear and just what you would expect to be on the exam. study guides are provided. he is very helpful. I would suggest you take this guy to be your professor. i wish he taught microbiology.
Literally the worst professor I've ever had. I know he was a lab teacher but I doubt he taught lecture before. He is extremely unclear and his test are so specific it's impossible to study for. Reluctantly made the study guide (claimed he was lazy and didn't want to make one at first) and it didn't help FIND SOMEONE ELSE!
Great Lab instructor, HORRIBLE lecture professor. I took his lab class for both 111 and 112. This time around, he just isn't making the cut. The tests are VERY specific, but the information he gives is NOT. Make sure you read your book, it's what saved me from the bad lectures. I don't recommend this class.
Great lab professor. HORRIBLE lecture professor. Class average on first test was 72% and on second test 68%! If there are only 3-4 A's on a test out of 90 students there is something wrong. I received a B+ in Caroline Wilson's BIOL111 class. I will be lucky to get a C with Jung. Questions are way too specific on tests. Seriously, don't take him!
I thoroughly enjoyed being in Chris Jung's lecture. Between his teaching style and the interesting subject, I wasn't bored at all. He also gives out study guides and does a good job highlighting information so I didn't feel overwhelmed before exams. It's a tough class, but if you put in the time and pay attention, you'll pass.
Horrible professor, couldn't stay awake in his class because it was so boring. He went off topic a lot, His study guides are horrible because they have nothing to do with the test. If you want to take any A&P class I recommend you take it with Wilson.
Had him for lecture. take notes and make flash cards of slides on powerpoints and you'll do well. grades more on how stuff works than definitions.
Very helpful - if he doesn't know the answer he usually remembers to look it up for you next class. Very willing to explain concepts. Powerpoint lecture slides helpful, only used book for more details. Make sure to pay attention in class - his lectures are much more helpful than relying on the notes/book alone. He's funny - makes class enjoyable!
Dr. Jung's class is easy, but he is not very knowledgable about the course. He has given students a lot of incorrect information. I stopped attending his lecture and still got a 98% on the last exam. I don't think he should be teaching the course. He frequently comes unprepared and wastes classtime with personal stories.
I had Chris for a night lab. He is laid back and did not require us to complete lab manuals. He is, however, a stickler for details on quizzes, so it is important to be sure you know every thing listed on the study guides in lab. Overall, a funny, helpful, concise professor. Study the lab study guides, and his PPoints and you'll do fine.
Chris Jung is a really great professor. He answers students questions when they have them and offers study sessions for his classes to prepare for tests. His lectures covered everything I needed for my tests.
He's a "everything is fair game on the test" type professor which makes things more difficult. You don't really need the book for the lecture but you definitely need to make sure you have the slides down. It was a stressful semester and not many did well but if you study hard you can get an A. Thoroughly study your old tests before the final.
You can set appointments to meet with him to see what you got wrong on the exam, they're tough. He goes over the material, but can be hard to follow. After going to Biol 112 and loving it, I'd rate Dr. Jung as average.
Mr. Jung was a great professor! Everything was based on his power point slides. There was no homework, and his tests aren't too bad as long as you spend some time studying for them. He makes sure to take time to explain details during his lectures, while also throwing in occasional jokes and stories to keep things lively. I'd recommend taking him!
while his degree is clearly NOT in A&P it is painfully obvious during the lectures. seems to know the knowledge as well as i would know the knowledge if i was to read the slides and research before class. tells a lot of personal stories and tells jokes that have nothing to do with the lecture. If Dr. Luban is available TAKE HIS LECTURE COURSE!!!
Clear and easy to follow.
Jung is a good professor in both lecture and lab. He helps when you ask questions and adds humor in anything he talks about. The lab requires much memorization, and consists of many quizzes along with a midterm and a final exam. Be sure to study and you'll pass just fine.
Professor Jung is a great! The only thing i was annoyed with was him not posting the power points till the day of class. This is definitely a tough course!
I wouldn't take his lecture class he gets off course. Goes by the slides super fast and doesn't really take the time to answer people question. I rather get a different lecture teacher then him. he had everybody in my class lost. Study the slides and the book. And his study guides aren't that helpful as well.
He uses big words to explain big words. It's almost like talking to a textbook. His stories are entertaining but even if you read you will basically teach yourself. Get ready to use another source to understand this class.
People that say Jung is difficult just don't know how to study. My friends & I all received A's with no real trouble. You have to work for it to get it, that should be expected at the college level. Use his slides to complete the studying guides & make notecards from that. You'll be fine. Also, he's funny in a dorky way. Prepare for dad jokes.
There was no textbook and you have to remember everything from the slides, which involve A TON OF GRAPHS! It was too difficult to remember what each graph meant, which didn't help when it was time to take exams. Also, he takes stuff from each student's presentations and puts them on the final exam. This was the most stressful class I've ever taken.
This class has a lot of information. I would not recommend taking another 4 credit science class in conjunction with this class. You have to read the text and remember a lot of the information. The tests are not easy, lots of studying.
Interesting and knowledgeable speaker
I am a student returning to classes after about 3 years of space in between degrees. This class was ridiculously difficult for me (maybe because of the time off)! Prof. Jung does provide extra credit on 'Connect' but his lectures were often hard to follow. He also had a habit of not clearly answering questions & going on tangents. Study everything!
This professor has a hard class to teach. Any of the anatomy classes are SO MUCH information. He himself was funny and nice but could also be condescending when answering questions. I don't think he means anything by it, just how he comes off. The study guides for this class are SO important and you do pick up some stuff from the lectures.
Professor Jung does a fantastic job teaching a very difficult class. He is engaging and entertaining and offers tips for remembering difficult information. This is a hard class and you have to work for your grade, but that's how college works, right? He allows students to ask questions and does a great job of answering them.
He's a very good professor, considering that it's a large lecture with a ridiculous amount of content. No matter which school you go to, A&P will be one of the hardest entry level classes, and he made it much, much more bearable.
Prof. Jung is hilarious and an awesome instructor. He does a great job explaining complex concepts, and his stories and sense of humor make the class enjoyable. Be prepared to read, read, oh, and read (yes, in addition to attending classes). You'll be required to study a lot of concepts, in addition to memorizing structures for lab.
This is a hard class, and you will have to spend time studying he materials. Prof. Jungs lectures are great and he really tries to explain tougher concepts in greater depth. He also finds creative ways to help with memorization. If you put in the time, there shouldnt be a reason not to get that A or B.
Jung was a great teacher. Anatomy is a TOUGH class. He made it much more enjoyable and made sure we knew what we were going to be tested on. He's also the one who writes all the anatomy tests for 111 so I'd say he's the best choice.
Prepare for and attend lectures, and review your notes before exams, and you should be fine. Clear expectations for exams. Just follow the syllabus and exam prep sheets.
Skipped most of the classes ( not recommended!!! ) but was able to learn through provided slides and YouTube. Not a very tough professor & all you're learning are facts. There are standards, but that's college. The key is to know yourself and how you learn so you know what kind of time you need to invest for the class. Everything else will follow.
Dr. Jung is young at heart, he's an avid biker, loves planes, and has a date or two that he talks about. It all falls apart when it comes to teaching. I just as well skip his lectures, read *several* A&P books, glance through the slides, not *focus* on the slides, and pass the class. His study guides are useless and his tests are unpredictable.
Great professor, really cares about his students and makes his self accessible outside of class! I would say the exams are pretty fair. Breezes through lecture sometimes, but other than that, if you study hard and put the time in there should be no reason you don't get an A or a B.
I thought this class was super straight forward. You have to keep up and do your part, but there are tons of supports if you need it. Jung does a good job of explaining concepts in English, not like a science robot, and manages to promote a question-friendly lecture environment.
IMPORTANT NOTE: It doesn't matter what professor you take or what college you go to. Human Anatomy is a brutal class and its gonna hurt the entire time. There is no safe place to take this class. Jung is the best at UAA for this. Good Luck.
Here's the 411 about Dr. Jung. I wont lie to y'all but Anatomy and Physiology 1 definately starightforward concept. Its HARDER class, but he made it more fun. If you study your tail off, you will do just fine. I certainly recommend Dr. jung to anyone who is definately taking Anatomy and Physiology for the first time. His a great professor.
I really enjoyed taking this class. If you show up to lecture, pay attention/take notes, &put forth effort to STUDY the material his test, in my opinion, were super fair. 80-90% are pretty straight forward/easier questions while the rest were a little more challenging/more specific. Funny guy & helpful with hints for test questions during lecture.
Professer Jung! He is so funny with his lectures. He will get you up and moving in class. It is very lecture heavy so be ready to read and memorize! A&P is very big on memorization! If its not on his power points, he won't test you on it! He is very understanding when things come up. Great teacher who cares about his students and their success!
Jung was a very good professor, but my success was rooted in out of class study time. He grades his tests fairly, and has good lecture slides, but students definitely need to put in study time outside of class. Can't say it enough, study study and you'll do great.
Professor was pretty great. Class was pretty hard though as any biology class I'd say. Class was test heavy and made most of your grade.
is very particular and supposedly the study guides are suppose to help but I found myself kind of lost when I was taking the tests. He is a tough grader. He is very intelligent but i don't think he cares much for his students and their work it's a make it or break it situation. I didn't find him helpful.
A&P is a heavy class, but I believe, if you put enough time and effort into it you will be successful in this class! For me, his lectures and exam questions correlate with one another and he is open with any questions either in-person class or during his office hours. Pay attention with what he says during his lectures. Study smart, not hard :-)
No passion for the topic does not care for students because he does nothing to engage his students. Doesn't put any effort into relating the topic to real life. Unable to communicate with. Yes, this class is heavy and hard, but choosing the right professor is a make it or break it situation. Jung was awful
Excellent teaching methods. Dr. Jungs lectures are Engaging, direct and straight to the point. His study guides are very indicative of what to expect on his tests which is nice because nearly all points earned in this class are test based.
He was such a horrible teacher. None of his study guides were aligned with the tests and he gave NO ROOM for extenuating circumstances and would not let retake or reschedule. Mind you, he leaves test 12 hours, not even 24 hours. Some people have jobs that last for 12 hours. hes ridiculous and would not recommend. spare yourself the trouble
Took this last year. This class was brutal but as long as you pay attention in lecture, you at least won't fail. He tells you what you to know/study. Honestly, I bought/never used the online textbook (you should), I enjoyed the Connect A&P features. Pace yourself for lots of new info & hours of self-study. Come to class prepared, read the chapters!
I liked Dr. Jung and I found his study guides and PowerPoints to be very helpful throughout the semester. Frankly though, A&P is hard no matter the teacher is and your success depends on your own independent study (reading the text, reviewing every day, etc.) so don't slack and don't assume simply watching the lectures is enough (it's not).
A&P is a hard class through no fault of his, but he doesn't make it any easier. Probably the least helpful professor I've ever hadhe DOES NOT want you to contact him outside of class unless it's the end of the world, is really snide over email, and has no sympathy for tech issues. His lectures are fine but his jokes often come off as terse & rude
Class was supposed to be Zoom delivery, Jung copied and pasted his lectures from last year into BB instead. Doesnt want to be contacted or emailed, not flexible on office hours. Has said I dont know in his lectures more than once for a credible professor to be teaching a course such as A&P. Lectures are outdated and not current w the textbook.
Does not care if your computer crashes during an exam. Requires PRNow for exams. Everything has to be memorized, no notes. Delivery method was supposed to be Zoom but he had everything on Black Board. His lectures were old and did not line up with the textbooks information. He makes his exams the night before. His study sessions before examjoke
The textbook and lab PowerPoints were the most helpful resources in my opinion. You will likely need very good study techniques and work ALL THE TIME to get a good grade in this class. Very difficult!
Terrible instructor. He actually makes the material harder to understand. He does not really lecture, mostly just reads his PowerPoint slides to us. He does not refresh his material or update it along with the book so his lecture notes do not sync. I found it to be a waste of time to attend his lectures as I could find WAY better instructors online
I liked him as a professor. The material is tough regardless but not his fault in particular that its hard. Has power points/lectures online so you can pause/watch when you want. In person lecture as well so you get to choose. Makes silly puns. Cons- dont bother emailing him. Hard tests.
BIO111 is going to be difficult no matter who you take if with, so you might as well take it with the funnest professor. I had to study like CRAZY for this class, however Jung only tests you on content from his lecture slides, which narrows down what you have to study. Jung is super nice and absolutely hilarious, but A&P is rough no matter what.
Do yourself a favor and take anatomy with a different professor.
you will never be able to reach him outside of office hours or class, never respond to emails. the class itself is hard but choose another professor if you can.
Professor Jung is a very nice person but his lectures were everywhere! Not very helpful not very clear on what to focus on. A lot of the things mentioned in lecture can be answered already through the book he is not very accessible and just makes it much more difficult than it needs to be. I recommend him to independent learners only.
I spent about 40 hours a week studying for lecture and lab and it was difficult. my other classes went on the backburner for this class. His lectures I would right down word for word and get the quizzes and get an A. With the exams he asked questions he never mentioned in lecture.
He was a chill teacher but his lecture slides were bad. His quizzes were easy and basically based on his lecture slides, but his exams were difficult. When I took his class all the exams were online. The exams were not always based on what he taught and often times required reading the textbook (even though he never assigned reading). Ok bro.
The bulk of your grade comes from the exams, and even if you write down/memorize his lectures word for word and study the textbook, a lot of questions on the exams are things he never mentioned, hardly mentioned or are just worded in ways to purposely confuse you, so it's almost impossible to know what exactly to study. Don't recommend at all!!!
Do not take his class if you can help it. The only reason he rates so high on Rate My Professors is that he is within an age-range conducive to fostering professor crushes within newly enrolled, freshly out of highschool students.
Lecture slides were bad, and exams had things not even mentioned in the lecture. Chill dude, but the way he teaches isn't fitting for an introductory course. Hard to access out of class. Weekly quizzes were easy. Doesn't really engage with the class and has a tendency to ramble on about personal stories.
Don't expect ever getting an email back, rather send an email out to the students through blackboard. Take notes word for word from his prerecorded videos. Weekly quizzes helped the most since some of the questions were used in the exams. Every student should check their exam grades in case (in-person) for any grading mistakes(from experience)
Pretty chill guy and makes lectures interesting. Posts lecture videos online to watch as well. Clear expectations, difficult course material.
bruh what is everyone on about Jung is so easy & the best, everything on his exams where in his lectures. You just have to study and theres no way to not get an A. I have to work for my A's and this was pretty easy. Its a lot of material but its simply memorization and time management. Def take Jung for anatomy and stay on top of it. Hes hilarious
Dr. Jung is an alright professor. His lectures tend to get off topic, but all material is available online. Finishing with 100% is doable, but you have to respect how much time it takes to learn anatomy. There's a lot of material. He does iClicker questions for free points, so while attendance isn't mandatory, you miss out by not going.
Everything that was on the slides and lectures were in the tests minus one or two questions. A&P is a tough class overall but Professor Jung made it fun and easy to understand. Review sessions over zoom were very helpful. Recommend watching his supplemental video on studying and test taking. Take notes, do the work and you'll do fine.
He reads off the slides in lecture and sometimes explain some concepts. I say take the online class unless you need to go in-person for motivation. Tests are okay and follows the lecture slides strictly. Quizzes are open note. No homework, just study a lot. He is a chill and funny guy, and that makes lecture less boring.
Fair teacher, funny guy, always had good stories to relate the course material too from his prior life experiences. Reads directly off of the slides, all of the test material come from the slides so that's all you need for studying & the content. They say the book is required but he literally said not to read it unless you need clarification.
I took BioA111 lecture online. There are 3 exams (the lowest of which is dropped) + 1 final, all taken with RPnow. Exams are 50 questions in 75 minutes and the final is 100 questions in 145 minutes. Weekly quizzes are 10 questions in an hour and open notes. If you study the lectures (~4hrs per exam) you will get an A in this course.
Overall really good at teaching the material. You do have to read the book to understand some of the questions that are asked on the exams. I usually finished the exams in about 15-20 minutes since you either knew it or you didn't. I learned a lot.
Overall, he is a great teacher. However, his videos are outdated.
A&P is generally tough, but Professor Jung does his best to make the subject easier for students to understand. He prepares students adequately for each exam and tends to pop jokes in each lecture (both pre-recorded + in-person). Everything you need to pass the class is in his lectures. Overall, a great teacher for those who are intimidated by A&P.
Funny guy and the lectures were pretty good. Some tests were much harder than others in my opinion, and did not line up with the study guides very well. Does not answer emails but is good about answering questions in class.
He's a very laid back person so his explanations can be very overly simplified with a sprinkle of comedy. Which is nice for someone who's just learning the heavy material. And all of the important things that you need to know on the exams are on the slides given with blackboard. He doesn't email back so ask questions in lecture or open office hours
Word of caution to mature students with kids. This professor does not honor medical notes from providers. I was given an ultimatum to take a midterm within the week, even though my kid was very clearly sick and the not had her out for the week. He wasn't even my main professor. He was the lab coordinator and got the final say.
I loved this class. He was funny, smart and knows what he is talking about. Also quite charming which always helps. His slides are good and that's what you need to pass the tests. One drawback is he never emails back which is frustrating but he does have office hours.
He mostly just reads off the slides and grades pretty harshly.
He makes a lot of jokes that just don't land. He is nice and grades fairly as the questions on the test are all mulitple choice. He is pretty hard to reach. The tests are not that hard.
While Jung isn't the most passionate lecturer, he's a chill, funny dude. I agree w/ previous review(s) that his videos seemed dated, but I managed. Prioritize your time toward this class wisely; do the assignments, study, attend recitations & you will do fine. You can try to cram, but it will most def be reflected in your grade (trust me, I know)!
Straight forward class. Use his provided study guides and watch the lectures. Study the study guides, use flash cards. Very limited required reading. The weekly online HW sucked since it covers everything in the chapter but it is graded on completion. His humor is dry but he is really chill. Lowest exam grade is dropped. No cumulative final.
He is a great professor. You don't need to read the textbook. He drops your lowest test score (except the final). He is really funny. He grades based on homework, tests, quizzes, and in-class questions. The class has a lot of material. If you are not good at studying and not good at multiple-choice questions, don't take this class.
Avoid if possible. Most of the class is filler with little learning. He has difficulty focusing the class when going off toopic.
This class was not too bad, just hard to remain interested. Assignments are online and take 1-2 hours, its a completion grade. Attendance is important and is a grade. Lowest exam can be dropped and there are 3. Quiz every week due at 11:59 Sunday. The professor is good and its pretty easy to pass this class if you put in the hours to study!
Professor's lectures are challenging to follow, and his writing is actually illegible. Nonetheless, if you do the weekly SmartBook assignments and quizzes, you'll pass. He likes to recycle questions, so study the weekly quizzes before exams and go to recitations.
