this class was really easy. It was a pain at some times b/c there was an assingment to turn in every day, but the assignment was easy. There are two test (both open book), the assignments, and a paper (also easy). If you don't make an A in this class you're lazy.
his lectures are boring and long, don't bother asking for help because that will just be a waste of breath. 4 tests + final. all the tests are mutliple choice and short answers and the final is multiple choice only. i loved pychology and now i really just hate it with a passion. he did not make it fun or interesing at all. i do not recommend him.
He does a great job presenting the material. 4 tests + 1 final. Tests are fairly difficult but not impossible. He uploads his focus points onto the website which makes studying easy. Attendance is optional but definately helps if you want an A.
His lectures were very boring, and they were hard to pay attention to. He was a nice guy, but the class was just horribly boring so I could never pay attention to his notes. He puts powerpoints up everyday, and he reads from them. Do not take this class if you want an easy A or B.
I don't even like psychology, but I loved his class and his lectures. It's not a hard class. Just study the notes, book and the website and you'll make at least a B. It helps if you attend every class. Sometimes he gives out bonus points for just being there. ;)
I took the 4 week summer 2105 class. He's a great teacher in my opinion and really knows his stuff...he challenges you to think outside the box of what you know and consider new viewpoints on things. the papers got annoying but the format is straight up...some of the book readings are boring...but the ideas are interesting. do the work get an A.
He's cool!! plain discussions about some issues. Midterm and Final. Paper required and that's it! he also gives extra credit ;) cool teacher!
good teacher.. every class a discussion assignment is due. pretty easy grading. good class discussions. Midterm and Final are essay; gives extra credit!
Dr. Randall was an amazing teacher. He always had really good class discussions and knew what he was teaching. Required assignments due every class but learned alot from them. One big paper, midterm, and final.
Extremely nice and helpful teacher who knows what he is talking about. Just do not get behind, the work will start to pile up.
He is an amazing teacher. His class isn't difficult if you read the text. I would highly recommend him. He's always able to answer your questions!
Dr. Randall is a really great teacher. The way he teaches his class makes it really easy to learn and his tests are not hard at all.
Great guy. Absolutely wonderful to be in his class. He definitely cares about the class and he wants the students to excel
I took his hybrid/online course and worked like crazy for an A. Half the class withdrew! I don't recommend him: 2 timed quizzes over 2 chapters per week, online participation, class meetings, AND essay tests seemed to stress the entire class out. Anyone with a busy schedule or life outside of psychology class should find another professor. Fast!
Nice guy and knows what he's talking about but you definately need to attend class for in class assignments. Tests are half multiple choice and half essay but does give an optional final to replace a test grade
Nice guy although his class was pretty tough. We had to read 60+ pages a week, take timed quizzes, contribute to discussion AND there were 4 essay tests. I devoted HOURS a day to this class and worked harder than the rest of my classes COMBINED. For anyone just trying to get credit, I don't recommend it. Most ppl dropped out or failed.
Avoid if you can. The hardest A ever.
Very hard professor. Especially during the summer. Had to do discussion assignemtns each class period. Had to do an essay at the end of the semester. Open book final. Very difficult to get an A. A lot of work for a psych class.
Run away! The tests were essay and pretty much impossible. He doesn't even tell you what to study, it's all fair game. Hardest Into Psych class ever. period.
I took him during the summer and there were 2 assignments and 2 discussions online due before every class. It was hard, but really worth it because the class was over in no time. Open book essay final. You had to discuss with classmates in groups EVERY class, which was easy, but I hated it...
Hard work but it's possible to get an A. most people dropped out.He knows what he's talking about. Very interesting class
Nice guy but his class is hard. Test are impossible they are part multiple choice and part essay. lectures can be interesting if he stays on topic. He killed my desire to pursue psychology
Very Rude teacher. Acts like he is too good to be teaching this course. Encourages students to look up his vitae and publications. Hubris anyone? Good grades are not likely because his directions can be cryptic and his test questions can be ambiguous with multiple right answers. Expects students to spend more time on his class than is reasonable.
Randall really does not care if his students pick up the material. He is so self interested in his own activities that he can barely be bothered to prepare for his class. Small assignments take weeks to grade. His lectures and tests come straight from the books. He tells stories of how his teachers were unfair and how he doesn't care about students
Randall seems to delight in the suffering of students. If he is knowledgable about the material you couldn't tell because he rarely prepares anything more than what comes from the book publisher. His investment in students is very low and you can tell he doesn't like teaching. His tests have a lot of subjectively graded essays and short answers.
Well, I really enjoyed the class and the professor. His instructions were clear, the grading rubrics were helpful, the lectures were interesting, and the tests were challenging. The behavior mod project really helped me understand the material better. I hope to take another class with Dr. Randall... just not at 8 AM!
He is such a nice guy. Extremely helpful. If you ever need help, just ask him. He will help you out. I wouldn't say that his class is difficult, but there is a lot of work involved. There are discussion assignments due every class, but you can skip two. Though his class is a lot of work, I would definitely recommend him.
I would recommend Dr. Randall to anyone. His class is hard, but it's an upper level class it's supposed to be hard. He does a very good job explaining the concepts from the text and will go over it time and time again if needed. The tests are clearly stated and straight forward. I knew several people who made As.
Great teacher. Very laid back and understanding. In class time is a debate and argument very fun! Out of class work is reading the book about the next class discussion topic. Gives a worksheet to fill in for each topic. Simple exams and very easy class. If taking the upper level class he is your best choice!
He is a very nice man. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, WRITE AS MUCH AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN ON THE DAs, you can NOT over answer the questions for type six pages if you have to. Midterm and finals are open book but you are not allowed to have notes, strictly from text book so mark it up with flags.
Hybrid class, so a lot of online assignments. Really easy, just have to remember to do them. I wasn't interested in at all, but he made it totally bearable. He has a great personality, always answers questions. Weekly online & in class quizzes (same quiz for both) final=quizzes put together, final paper was easy to do, really fair grader.
This guy is a drill sergeant. A low level, 2-credit hr course felt like a graduate course. An enormous amount of reading and writing, power-points, weekly quizzes.......extremely time consuming! It really shouldn't be that hard. Had to withdraw to save my "A" grade status.
Enjoyed the class. Was not a huge fan of his class structure. No lecture on our class day. He opened it up to discussion. He'd often tell personal stories to help understand concepts. Lots of online participating, but it was hybrid. Class isn't mandatory, but he would give random assignments. Overall, very satisfied!
Drill Sergeant is the best description. Hardest most time consuming class EVER. on top of that it is an introductory course. I did more homework for this class than for the two other classes I took at the same time. A lot more!!! And it is very hard to actually receive an A. Do yourself a favor and stay away from him. FAAAAAR away!!!
If you're complaining about a 4000 level psychology class being "too hard"... select a different major! Content was difficult, but Dr. Randall is more than willing to work with you outside of class. He has a very open door policy. I don't quite understand the "drill sergeant" comments, I found him to be kind and approachable. Great prof!
Dr. Randall is alright. Some of his quizzes and projects can be challenging but I think he's a fair grader. Despite how much I have struggled through his class, I managed to get an 'A' in almost every assignment. He's not too hard on the grading. You'll do fine in his class if you give yourself time to read and understand the material.
For just a 2 hour credit course needed to fulfill a school requirement not part of my major AT ALL, there was more work and stress done than any other class. Prof takes long to grade papers. For those who love Psychology then knock yourselves out. Very structured and organized. However, quizzes and exams are tricky. I would not take again.
Dr. Randall is a great teacher! I found him to be extremely helpful. His tests and quizzes are a little hard, and there is a lot of reading out of the textbook. He is very organized, but he does take awhile to grade his papers.
He was extremely harsh when grading. Even though this was an online class, I had to entirely teach myself everything. He did not provide any additional learning materials, etc. He made it nearly impossible to get a good grade bc he never clearly stated what he wanted in assignments. Took forever to grade, assigned crazy amt of work.
He does not provide any feedback on discussion boards even though numerous are required. Clarity of assignments is not his forte. Even when meeting with him to discuss the writing assignments and then following his "advice" does not help. He also seems to have his own opinion irrespective of theories.
Horrible so far! He is not helpful at all with the discussions. Every time I ask him to tell me what I did wrong exactly, he never has a clear answer. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
Not helpful at all! His advice is useless and is very quick to refer you back to the syllabus after indirectly answering your question. He does not specify in his what he wants or is looking for in the term paper and when you ask then he refers you to the syllabus again! This is by far the most confusing teacher I have had. STAY AWAY!!
Stay away! This is the most confusing instructor I've ever had. Not clear on what he wants constantly refers you back to the syllabus. Sent him emails asking what I did wrong and again never a clear answer.
He is not helpful!! When you ask for help he refers you to the syllabus. He does not give clear directions on what he wants or is looking for in the term paper but quick to give an "F" on your submission. This was the most confusing teacher I have had. Do not take him!
Online class. Took two months to return grades on several assignments. Quick to give an "F", got one for not greeting the class with a hello in an online discussion. Not nearly enough time given to complete exams, he explains nothing. Don't take him if you don't have to.
He made this class more difficult than it had to be. He was only clear on the discussions but on every other assignment he was not clear on what he wanted. He is quick to give you a bad grade and does not give you feedback making it hard to improve. And you teach yourself everything! No extra help! Don't take him if you don't have to!
Self-taught course, don't expect much if any interactions from the prof. Takes about 3-4 weeks on average to grade quizzes, discussion posts, papers.
Professor Randall is an amazing online instructor. There was never too much work and if he felt an assignment needed more time to be completed, he would extend the turn in date. He always helps with any concerns, and provides very clear rubrics for exactly what he wants. Like any other online class, if you keep up with your work you will do fine.
Randall seems to come across as a professor that is willing to work with his students, however, do not be deceived! He is quick strip away points from assignments without a word as to exactly why and how to fix your mistakes. The lack of clear work expectations in addition to being a tough grader makes this course discouraging. Take someone else!!
DON'T TAKE HIM. He makes it way more difficult than it has to be. Quick to give you an F on discussion posts without explaining why. Not responsive to emails& when he does respond he refers you to the syllabus. Timed cumulative final, not allowed to skip questions & go back 5 essay questions where you must go in depth. not enough time for the final
DO NOT TAKE HIM! Dr. Randall is not willing to help you. You do anything to annoy him he will start taking 20 points off of your weekly discussions EVEN THOUGH the feedback is the same as all the one's you got 80's on. Also, miss a test and email him so that you can retake it? Won't happen, I had a death in the family and he wouldn't work with me.
Honestly, I don't understand why he has such bad ratings. Currently, I have a solid A. Grading criteria is very clear. Discussions every week which are easy points, so just follow is directions. Gives you two attempts on every quiz. Tests are very reasonable and he gives you plenty of time. Just do the work and you'll get an A or high B.
No personable at all! I took this class online and felt like he did not care about the class. A lot of the posts were copy and pasted week to week only changing a few minor details. He does say that if you have any questions to contact him. He did no teaching. NONE. This is a self taught class and he provides links to other websites.
I would not recommend anyone take this Professor. He is hard to communicate with, his expectations aren't clear and his grading is ridiculous! I don't think he believes in giving a perfect score. His papers that are stated to be based on completion are given 3/4 points resulting in C's, no rubric? Not enough time to take his essay heavy test.
Dr. Randall is an extremely tough grader for not having a rubric or guideline. If you do not have hours a day to dedicate to this class do not take him. He is not specific and his feedback does not help. Test and quizzes are not extremely hard but you must understand EVERYTHING to get close to an A on a test. I say close because it seems impossible
I thought since I have taken all online classes before that this past semester would be smooth, I had a baby and told him I had to stay extra days in the hospital, he never gets back to you in email and doesn't give any explanation on assignments I failed a lower level psychology class and never got an email back DO NOT TAKE HIM
Save yourself the money and GPA and DO NOT TAKE HIM. No feedback, no communication, no nothing. He does absolutely nothing except give out horrible grades with no feedback which take a month to get back. His tests are pretty much 6 essay based questions that are very long. Not one person I know in this class made an A. EVERYTHING IS SELF TAUHGT.
I had Dr. Randall for Learning & Behavior (online) during Summer 2017- 8 week course. The modules were organized and informative, with extra links for added info. He provided good, solid feedback but does not give you answers (there's a difference). The quizzes allowed for two attempts which is really good. I earned a high 'B'. No complaints.
The worst. So much work for an online class and it seems like he's never satisfied with the discussion post answers. I emailed him toward the end of the semester and he wasn't helpful.
Pros: Dr. Randall is a super nice professor. Lot's of homework makes it easier to get a good grade. Cons: Grading criteria isn't very clear - feedback is hard to understand. If you work hard you'll be fine! I scored a B but I got curved to an A.
Horrible!!! Hes incredibly unfair because he does not give clear instructions for assignments and then is super specific when it comes to grading. Seems like hell do anything to take points off. Kinda seems like he doesnt want the students to succeed. So much work and not clear about what he wants. 10 people in my class failed. Come on dude!
I have taken many online classes and this has been the worse by far. He makes you jump through a ton of hoops just to get a mediocre grade on a discussion post. Even when you follow the rubric word by word he will find something wrong. He also words his questions very weirdly. I would strongly suggest taking this course in class.
Honestly, just dont take this class. Took it online for Science of Psychology and the professor wants you to do poorly. He never gives any feedback but wont hesitate to fail you on every single discussion post. Also the class is graded on a point system so it is very hard to get an A. He makes this class hard for no reason.
This class is ridiculous. The grading rubrics obviously don't matter because even when you follow it, the grade doesn't match up. when you ask how to improve the discussion posts he says to read the rubric and gives no feedback. Such a hard grader when all he does is post stuff for us to read. Grading is very inconsistent. Tests are also hard
The classwork isn't terrible, but he is a little difficult to work with. He provides the textbook/reading for each week. Your grade consists of discussion posts & quizzes (each week) and 3 exams. The quizzes/exam questions come directly from the readings and just READ AND FOLLOW the rubric and syllabus. If you do that, you'll be fine.
Professor Randall was one of the rudest professors I have ever had. Whenever I would email him with a question, he would respond in a snarky way and almost would act like I was dumb. His directions for assignments are incredibly vague. So, I would often email him and ask for clarification. Yet, I would still receive a lower grade than I expected.
The worst professor I have ever taken for a damn psychology class. When emailing about about something he reply back in a rude manner and very disrespectful, never answers back to your emails right away when you need with help. Also, the assignment he gives for his online class would be more easy if he learns to explain it better. Don't take him.
Absolutely awful. Unclear in directions, unfair in grading. Save your wallet and gpa. KSU is not displaying their high quality education through this professor. I encourage everyone to petition to his removal or change in behavior. This is unacceptable behavior.
Very nice professor. However, does not give you a whole lot to practice for quizzes/tests other than making you read the chapter until you have it memorized. Otherwise you won't pass any of his tests. HEAVY TESTER, twice a week, I barely have any time for my other classes due to preparation for this class and I'm still struggling.
AWFUL. I'll never take this professor again. No room for margarin of error, gives a low grade with ease. Insane amount of course work. This is a 16 week course, why are there multiple exams and assignments EVERY WEEK?! Terrible.
The worst. This class is a joke. I have never had a professor that made me feel like he didn't want me to do well and succeed. Will never take a class again with him.
Multiple assignments/quizzes do EVERY WEEK, I had to drop another class to just keep up. He is very rude and belittling when asked questions. Avoid at all cost!
Wort professor I had. He doesn't respond to emails when you need help. Its almost like he doesn't want you to do good. There's a discussion post every week and he grades really tough and doesn't let up. Your best will never be good enough for him lol. Lots of quizzes and discussions. Tough grader. YOU NEED THE TEXTBOOK heavy studying for tests.
DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR ANYTHING!!! He is bad at communicating, grading, and helping his students. Especially with the discussions- he gave me a 3.5 out 10 for not explaining my information well when I didnt understand and I added information to help me make sense. Pretty much all my discussions he did that. Just bad overall. Very much switching to CP
His instructions for his assignments are confusing and very vague. He grades hard and doesn't have any plans on helping his students and he grades wayyyy too hard. He's a bit rude and possibly the worst professor I've ever had. WARNING! DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
This professor will be great for you if you love reading (at minimum) 40 pages a week, along with a quiz with nitpicky little questions that remind me of 9th grade English, and a super long and detailed APA style discussion post and reply that he will take off several points for and then just tell you to read the rubric again.
Class had 17/20 students fail the first exam, with one A, and two Cs. My first ever request in college for an assignment deadline extension was ignored after communication through 2 separate emails, and I have yet to receive a response to this day.
Doesn't ever really give clear instructions for assignments but you better follow them all because you will be nitpicked on everything. Feedback is also unclear and for the most part isn't helpful or constructive.
Don't ever take this class. Makes things more difficult for no reason whatsoever.
Learning and Behavior has a lot of concepts and theories that need to be taught in detail. Dr. Randall was not a good professor. It would have been much better if he actually tried to teach. He doesn't care about your success, he just regurgitates things from the book. Discussions are graded like exams, the quizzes are not able to be reviewed.
he's just terrible. offers very little help when asked and always says to "refer to the rubric" when asked for help with discussion posts. definitely makes assignments harder than they have to be.
RUN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF HIM!!!!! This is literally the hardest class I have ever taken. He is literally the worst at feedback and helping with anything. This professor is ridiculous and does not have any structure for grading.
EXTREMELY tough grader. Not very helpful when questions were asked. Tests were nothing like materials given to study. Multiple assignments and tests due EVERY week. Always took about a week to respond to any questions, usually after an assignment was due. Be prepared to memorize the entire book if you want an A. Would not recommend taking.
i would never take this class again. he give so many assignment and did not help you when you need him. tough grader it is so hard to maintained good grades in his class.
This professor does not give any feedback other than to read your book. Unless you can memorize the entire book, I would not take him. Extremely tough grader and does not care about his student's success whatsoever. Tests due every single monday and other assignments due friday. Also takes a while to get grades back especially before next thing due
This is the first time I've ever left a review of a professor but I had to because this man was THAT bad of a teacher. Lockdown browser quizzes with webcam every single week is so unnecessary for an intro level class. I enjoy psychology but he will make you hate it instantly. Treats discussion posts like essays and takes points off for everything.
This was the worst class I've ever taken. Drop it while you can. Extremely tough grading, no support from professor, tests do not contain information from modules, and so many assignments. The assignments are graded like essays, but the rubric does not say it.Will not give constructive feedback and does not clarify any concepts. DONTTAKE HIS COURSE
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR UNLESS YOU HAVE GREAT MEMORY!!!! This course was nothing but reading and memorizing parts of the body and what they do and effect. Homework every 5 days and test right weekly. Professor is not helpful, when asked for a study guide he said to read the book. 10/10 would not recommend.
lockdown browsers that he nitpicks, worst professor I've ever had. Useless in support. Doesn't reply to emails or give Feeback. DO NOT TAKE
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE. This class was the most stressful class I have ever taken. Lockdown browser + webcam test every week along with discussion posts that he grades very very roughly. Doesn't listen to feedback from students. Don't take unless you want to be stressed out all the time.
DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS INSTRUCTOR. he gives tests every week that has nothing to do with the material.. and he is a TOUGH grader. for your own sanity, do not take this course with professor Randall....
Took this class for fun but instantly regretted it after the first few quizzes. He asked for feedback on the course yet di not take anything we said into consideration. The ENTIRE class is struggling.
Took this class for credit, I regret it so much. He's an awful professor and doesn't listen to any feedback. He also doesn't give sufficient learning materials and expects you to memorize the textbook in full. Test heavy and a really hard grader. Please avoid him and save yourself the stress.
Although I managed to get a good grade, I do NOT recommend taking him. He has weekly 20 questions, webcam, lockdown browsers quizzes and makes you read a whole chapter each week, and not to mention, do discussions weekly as well. It's way too much work for an Intro to Psych class, so just don't do it. Most of his students had C's and under.
Be prepared to take a bunch of bs discussion posts and useless assignments that add nothing to your learning. If you miss any one of such discussion posts he immediately reports to the school that you intentionally skip class.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! You will regret it. Tough grader with little to no feedback, harsh on exams with no explanation, basic discussion questions but demands elaborate answers for decent grades. Useless PowerPoint.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! I was struggling a lot in this class and went to him for help on multiple occasions. He never responded on time and when he does, he is no help. He doesn't offer extra credit when he makes it IMPOSSIBLE to pass any quiz or exam or discussion post. He grades simple discussion posts harsh. He does not want you to succeed.
No matter the notes taken or if the textbook was used, the quizzes and tests were impossible to take. Information tested was never learned during the week, and no matter the amount of time spent studying and preparing, it was never enough to pass anything. The class was forcefully difficult.
I wish I listened to all the reviews, I thought I could take this class and get a B/C and keep it pushing. NO! DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! I had to withdrawal just to save my GPA. He is tenured, therefore he doesn't care about you, makes the class is impossible.
I wish I would have listened to these reviews. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He is literally impossible to work with. It doesn't matter how hard you work on an assignment he gives such horrible grades. His feedback is worthless and his directions for the assignment make no sense. Seriously y'all, DO NOT TAKE HIM.
I should've listened to these reviews before I pick this professor. I never make reviews but for this man, If I can save somebody from him I will. he was such a terrible professor. he's not understanding one bit and automatically judges students. he's such a tough grader and I barely passed. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT take him. save yourself pleaseee
Avoid this class if you can - the tests and assignments are unreasonably difficult. Unstuck study was the only thing that helped me get through it. The professor is not responsive and offers little support.
Respectfully, do not take this professor. I'm relieved to see the other reviews knowing it wasn't just me. Quizzes/tests are incredibly difficult despite reading and studying all materials given. Very tough grader too. Had to withdrawal because I knew my GPA would tank.
The quizzes were difficult and didn't test actual understanding of the material. The resources provided were awful, basically, you're better off just reading the textbook on your own. This professor adds little value to the learning experience.
I took his class two years ago and I recently did a withdrawal because of the family issues I went through. He was the only professor that said no to my appeal and claimed I didn't email him all semester. He was terrible and he didn't respond to half of the emails I sent. His grading is harsh and he does not provide feedback. AVOID!
The worst prof I've ever had. Nothing good to say about him at all. Grades come back late and are graded as if the standard is PhD level, never good enough. Very snarky with feedback. Impossible to get an A. This is an intro class like what???
