hard course, lots of notes and reading, tests are SO hard
He's not a bad guy...just expects a lot and makes really hard tests. He's sort of fixated on the incest stories of the bible...
interesting class, get to watch and write about mad movies that are good. prides himself on making the tests real hard and then grading like a ****. but there are only 2 tests, and he grades the papers pritty damn easy.
his quizzes are hard if you don't do the reading. As long as you keep up with the reading and attend class, you'll be ok. You really end up learning alot about the bible from this guy and his class is worth the effort. Plus he's a pretty cool guy
He is a tough grader but when you talk to him outside of class he is a cool guy
He is a very good teacher and he makes a boring topic(my opinion) sound sort of exciting. He seems to grade fair but very tough. He is straight forward about everything. He is really hard though.
His class discussions are very interesting and make class go by quickly. He is a fair grader but he is hard. Study hard for his quizzes and tests and get help on the papers if you don't know what you are doing...it WILL help!
I wish I could take more of his classes!! He's absolutely brilliant and knows so much. He's also really funny and gives interesting lectures. Very hard tests and papers though. (I've had him for more than just the Bible class.)
He does pride himself on being difficult. I liked his class, though attendance is key in doing well. Much of what is said in class is on the essay portion of tests. Objective portion of tests are all minute details that are difficult to memorize.
I think his class was horrible. Way too much reading and if he does not finish all the material, it is still on the final. Not fair at all. I will never take another class with him again. Mind as well sit home and teach yourself because thats how itis
Great professor- so smart, very funny and very understanding. Somewhat hard grader, but worth it if you actually want to learn something (which is what college is for, remember?).
what a great guy! awesome teacher, really knows his stuff. i loved his class and will definitely take more with him.
Excellent teacher...one of the best at Assumption
Best teacher ever! He is absolutely great- so smart, very funny and nice too.
Chris Klofft is very difficult, but he knows his stuff, and teaches very well. He's clear, informative, and really a great, cool, nerdy person. His Catholic Morality will make the Pope blush. By all means, take him.
great guy, makes every class interesting, and wants you to participate. you have to keep up with the reading or you're done. tough class and tough grader, but worth it if you're willing to work hard.
I have never taken any form of bible in my life and this was my favorite class. I found him extremely funny, and he makes the subject fun.
Enjoys the finer things in life such as KMFDM and video games. While the papers were a bit rushed at the end the class was overall pretty good. It isn't a hard class so long as you take notes.
One of the best professors on campus. He's tough and he knows it, but you will actually get something out of this class. His classes are worth every penny I pay to the school. Go to and talk in class, it gets to be interesting. Great guy too!
said a prayer before each class. this is a catholic school, but please. a prayer? seemed inappropriate. class was boring and he's full of himself, to top it all off.
Wicked boring and plays favorites so bad, hes also a huge freak about sex and video games and randomly britney spears. Hes very organized but hard and boring, dont take him....but sometimes people randomly love him...I dont get it but I deff suggest avoiding his classes
Terrible grader that focuses too much on the small details. I hated going to that class and would not recommend it to anyone.
Klofft was by far my favorite professor here. He really gets his students interested in the subject and works hard to make sure you understand. Pretty easy grader, really nice, funny guy. Take his class!
To start our class was about 25 people and by the end of the semester we were down to about 7- incredibly hard grader that expects you to memorize the most minute details...great if you want to memorize the bible but if youre looking for a gen ed requirement, don't take it w/ this professor...

Klofft is really helpful if you make the effort to see him. He lets you turn in papers early for comments which basically guarantees an A. Even though I am a very non-religous person, I found that he was still a good teacher, not stand-offish or anyting. He just explains his point of view and is usually very persuasive. He's great.
Great guy, hilarious. Classes can be tough, i had bible, moral theo and human sexuality with him. Classes are fun, time flies, something funny always happens, makes you want to go. Tests, papers are tough tho...gotta grow a pair and study ur stuff.
This was a great class and so much fun. One of the best teachers here. He tells you that the class isn't easy, but it is. The Bible is a boring subject but he makes it so interesting. There are 3 easy essays, tests, and quizes. He's a fair grader. Just show up to class and do the work and it's and easy good grade.
If you are not Catholic do not take Professor Kloft for the Bible. I memorized something that he said would be on a quiz verbatim and he gave me like 22 out of 25 points. He penalizes you on your papers, if you don't believe as he believes. The Bible is an introductory course which should be objective e.g. Biblical facts, characters, etc
His tests and quizzes are not easy, but if you do extra credit and show you put in an effort to do well in the class you will receive a good grade.
I really enjoyed this class. Prof. Klofft is a great teacher, but a tough yet fair grader and the quizzes were not easy. 4 quizzes, 4 tests, 4 essays in semester w/ 2 options for each essay. If you participate in class, and see him for help before tests or he'll pre-read essays, you'll get a good grade. Extra credit option, and class flies by!
if you get him for your bible class, switch out ASAP. not worth your time at all. he says he's an ass, and he is one. doesn't give you writing guidlines and then tells you your font is too big (I used a size 12 and he told me that), and tells you not to double space between paragraphs (after giving you a D+ for doing so). not worth anyone's time.
GET OUT ASAP. this class is absolutely rediculous for a gen ed requirement. he laughs at all his sick jokes, and prides himself on being tough. horrible quizzes, ok tests, doesn't know how to grade papers for****. makes up his own grading system. :Z you're better off with another teacher. trust me
GET OUT!!! He told me I should stay in his class because if I just did the extra credit and worked hard I wouldn't have a problem. I worked my ass off, did 10 extra credit papers AND an 8 page research extra credit paper and I got a C-. He makes**** up like "gang rape" as an actual test answer! He is a horribly unfair teacher...get out now!!!!
This is absolutely ridiculous. His Quizzes are almost impossible, his tests are extreme, his final is impossible. IF you have him for Bible, get the hell out now. I did extra credit, tried hard, participated, and still got a D-. He needs to get the hell out of teaching, he is intelligent, but he cannot teach. This is a core requirement, too hard! G
Being forced into his Bible class has a transfer student, I did not know what to expect. He grades his papers with the comment of good, but will give you a C or D. You could read the Bible cover to cover and understand, but if you do not agree with his perspective you will do poorly. Who heard of getting Cs and Ds on what he calls opinion papers
KLOFFT IS THE MAN!!!! youll always be interested in his class and makes you want to go. if you put in the work youll get an awesome grade. I took him last semester for bible and again this semester for moral theo, and im going to try to take him next semester for sexual theo. One of the best prof. assumption has to offer. DO THE WORK, get an A
klofft is an amazing and knowledgable teacher. there is a lot of work, but if you keep up with it, it is easy to get an A. there are 2 short papers and a final paper, but you can pass them in early to get graded--guarentees an A
His Moral Theology class is awesome! he knows his stuff. There was no question he couldn't answer. Lets you do tons of extra credit if you want. One of the top 3 best professors at Assumption.
Moral theolgy class was best I have had so far.
nice and funny guy but horrible grader...terrible... was put in his class as a transfer student and got a D in the class (lowest final grade I've ever gotten) definitley regret not switching out of his class. If you don't know much about the bible to begin with you are screwed.
good teacher overall but in order to do good in his class you need to ask and answer questions. if he hasnt heard from you by the end of the semester you wont get a good grade. study for his exams and read carefully there are trick questions! but if you read and ask questions you will be fine
Great guy. Catholicism Today is pretty easy. A few short papers, no tests or quizzes and one long paper or test for the final. Take Kloft, he is the man.
LOVE KLOFFT! excellent teacher, teaches a ton of information in one semester. Be prepared to cram, but coming out knowing a lot about the Bible.
Klofft is a horrible professor! I received a B+ and an A on the only two papers we had to write; yet, he gave me a C+. He sucks period!
One of those professors you remember years after school because you either, a) love him or b) hate him. I found him brilliant, hysterical, (i.e. "Yes, this verse is saying exactly what you think it is: Abraham's saying, 'Grab my junk and let's make an oath'" and crystal clear in his delivery of the material. Worth the effort he pushes you to make
He is awful!!! I got B's on both papers I wrote but ended up with a C in the class! The lowest grade I have ever recieved! Basically unless you want to speak up every class about useless information involving theology don't bother taking it because apparently if you don't talk you end up with a low grade. Absolutely ridiculous! Avoid him!
Have taken 3 of his classes. He's the best thing about assumption. He is also great because he seems to live what he teaches.
I have taken Klofft 3 times and I loved all of his classes. I was not looking forward to taking Theology classes in college but he always knows how to keep it interesting and I'm always excited to go to his class. He talks about a lot of modern day topics and always fields questions. He's challenging at times but I would definitely recommend him
Kloft is a great teacher and a hilarious guy. He usually keeps class interesting and he is very clear when instructing. I am taking two classes with him now and I'm not tired of him yet!
I wasn't sure about taking Moral Theology but he was an awesome prof! I disagreed with most of the material but he made it very easy to understand, whether you agreed or not. Extremely helpful with questions & you have a ton of chances for extra credit. The tests were tough at times but I really enjoyed the class! He is really funny, too
Overall, he is a nice professor. On quizzes, he makes it known that his goal is to trick you. He puts names of people that are not very important or that he briefly mentioned. His papers take time and research, but helped my grade. If you go to his office hours, he will edit your paper. Overall, very nice, but also tricky.
I went into this class thinking it would be easy, to my dismay it was one of my hardest classes. He is an interesting teacher to say the least, however his grading blows! I definitely would not recommend him. If you don't ask questions EVERY class if greatly effects your grade. GET OUT while you can, if it's too late.. good luck my friend
He is honestly one of the worst professors I have had to deal with. He has horrible office hours, he rarely gives quizzes but when he does they are very hard. His midterm was ridiculous for the small amount of time given. DON'T TAKE THIS GUY His class will put you to sleep and he is not helpful at all! Also he takes weeks to email you back!!!
Going into the class I was dreading taking Bible but he made it interesting. Not much homework. Always around for help, super interesting guy, but papers and quizzes were real hard.
There's lots of reading involved in this class. He goes over what he considers the most important points in his lecture, as long as you take detailed notes and memorize his words the quizzestests are doable. He grades papers leniently, putting the largest emphasis on grammar. Participation is essential to passing; ask and answer questions.
Reading the bible makes the class more easy to understand. His lectures make sense and if you take good notes and study a lot you'll do well. His quizzes seemed like he tried to trick you. His final exam was SO LONG and had so much writing. He grades his paper like he's an english prof which is so annoying and unnecessary.
Participation and asking questions REALLY matters, and he expects everyone to have questions on the readings, or he'll give bad participation grades. That being said, he always let you go early if you finished the material, didn't give busywork, and even cancelled a few classes because we were ahead. And he was pretty funny. Nice guy, decent class.
Snoozer but not totally terrible.
Great class for a required one. He relates everything he lectures on to modern times, which helped me understand the topics he covered. Super nice guy!
I've never had to deal with so much frustration for one class. His lectures are some what interesting, but his papers are ridiculously hard. Theology was not an easy class to pass. Professor Klofft is a nice guy, but he needs to realize that his class is not NASA. No need to make a gen ed. way harder than it has to be. He gives no feedback either.
Lectures are boring but he is nice and you can use your computer. He is a hard grader but if you just take a little time to make sure your grammar isn't horrible you will be fine.
Took him for Bible. Requires a lot of reading and makes asking questions mandatory. Lectures were long and boring. That being said, papers could all be personal experiences so they were super easy, and he would give days off if we covered all of the material in time. He wasn't into busy work, so he's a pretty solid choice if you need a theology.
The class is discussion based. There is a midterm, a 5 page paper, and either an exam or paper for the final. He is a tough grader and expects so much for papers. Unless you're a great writer, I wouldn't recommend this class. He scaled the grades at the end and gave chances for extra credit
He's not helpful at all. I reached out to him and he completely dismissed me. He responded with the same thing he said in class which obviously isn't helpful. His exams are hard, and his papers are hard. He gives you no feedback either. His lectures are somewhat boring. He has no problem failing a student, and he even said that. Don't take him.
Horrible teacher. Not helpful at all, expects you to know everything about the Bible and God. He grades his essays very harshly and gives no feed back...I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM
Impossible to get a good grade. Grades insanely tough. Expects you to see everything from his viewpoint.
Professor Klofft was great! The papers are heavily graded and he definitely expects a lot out of them, but if you are willing to work hard on them, they are very doable. He loves when you participate, whether you give the right answer or not. Overall i loved the class, it was super interesting and i would definitely take Klofft again!
Klofft is the best! He is very passionate about the material and really cares for his students. He has an awesome sense of humor and makes each lecture relatable. He is a tough grader when it comes to papers, but is willing to help in his office hours. I plan to take him for all of my theology credits.
He is not afraid to fail people and he will tell you that in the beginning. He grades you on a midterm paper and final. he is an extremely hard grader. Avoid him if possible. if you have him good luck
Professor Klofft tells his students he is okay with failing students. If you do not agree with him or say what he wants he will not like you. He gives a lot of Fs on all his papers even after a rewrite. He doesn't give good feedback on any papers. He makes rude comments on papers and if he doesn't like you he will make it his goal to fail you.
Klofft is phenomenal. He's got a sense of humor, but loves what he is teaching about. I'd definitely suggest going to office hours if you are struggling in his class, or reaching out to the academic support center. I took him for several courses within my time at Assumption, and I'd have taken him for even more if I could have!
Does not create clear rubrics for papers. Rubrics consist of a short and vague question or statement. Making it impossible to understand what he is expecting. Be prepared to get low grades on papers. Vague rubric with his tough grading, make for a bad mix.
10 out of 10 would not recommend. Avoid taking his classes.
I had Klofft for one of my first classes at Assumption. Essays are graded strictly. Many people do not know what he is actually looking for in his papers. No quizzes. The final paper is ridiculous and the Final test is hard because you are never been tested on the material prior. The class seemed easy at first but got more and more intense.
Ive never met such an awful man. Hes very mean on his responses. He talks down to you constantly. Hes ok with failing students as well. Extremely hard grader. He thinks that we should all know everything about theology and acts like his class is more important than my major classes. Do not take this man. Trust me and save yourself the trouble!
He is such a bad professor. If you are a freshman try to avoid him. He grades his essay heavy. Went to tutors for all the essay and still scored very low. He will fail any student and won't care. DONT TAKE HIM!
Currently, midterm grades just came out and I received an F. Three weeks ago we did an essay and it still hasn't been graded, also he gave us a pop quiz that I received a 75 on, but I still received an F for my midterm grade. This idiot enjoys just giving out grades that he feels fit to give. Absolutely abysmal, avoid this cephalopod at all costs.
I took him for human sexuality. It's the type of class that has a very interesting subject matter that makes it engaging. If you are looking for an easy A, look elsewhere. I agree that he does not give the most detailed feedback or clearest grading criteria. I would go to Academic Support to proof read your papers. Join Theo club, he'll like you!
Im not at all a theologian but he helped explain things a lot. If I had a question he would answer. Make sure to ask a question every couple of classes.
Honestly my fav prof. Despite the negative feedback about him hes aware of it, and tries his best to do better. Yes he can be a tough grader but he is available outside of class and his lectures are interesting and he throws in some jokes as well. Very knowledgeable and funny prof
POWER TRIP. type of teacher who enjoys being correct and watch students fail. Very lazy when it comes to grading papers so you never really know what your grade is in the class. Does not try to help students but instead tells them to deal with it. Also he is a creep This might be why people are hesitant to go to his office hours.
Took him once, and intentionally took another class of his. He is hilarious with dry humor. Really passionate about what hes teaching. I read the other comments here and I just cant relate. I never found him to be unclear or condescending. I loved his classes. Ended with an A in both, even though I definitely didnt put in full effort. Lol!
Need to be ready to participate because regardless of the 10 question quizzes based on the readings that you will probably get a 35% on and laugh with the class, PARTICIPATION CAN BUMP YOU TO A GOOD GRADE. I think the highest quiz grade I got was 40% but my participation bumped. He's a nice guy, teaches well. Reflects his belief but that's a given.
He gives unreasonable quizzes that have an average of 50% every quiz. Must have strong writing skills in order to pass this class. Also said in the past almost everyone fails his final, but passes his class. Also told me my parents failed me for not raising me with a religion. This class was by far the most difficult class I've ever taken.
all im saying if you end up taking this guys class good luck. His grading on paper is probably the worst thing about him. Gives you basically no feed back because the little that he does is just rude comments about writing style and just straight up say "no" about factual info that has evidence to back it up. Says hes not afraid to fail students
He may be a tough grader on papers, but he will help you along the way and help guide you and push you to be better and actually want to be better. The oral exams are also helpful a nice change of pace.
A lot of reading and talks a lot
He is a very tough grader
To put it simply, he is a great professor but is lacking in assessing your knowledge. However, he has a multitude of assessment types and once you learn what he expects from you as a student it will be easier. Ask as many questions as you can on the readings in class, as participation is a large part of your grade.
This professor really helped me grow my faith. I really enjoyed coming to this class and he is always there to answer any questions you have. He never makes you feel bad when you got an answer wrong and always guides you the right way. Make sure you participate and study for quizzes and you'll do well.
There is near zero structure to what he's teaching. He hates Brightspace, so don't expect any study guides for quizzes (which the whole class often messes up on). Will challenge you if you bring up a belief different from one of his beliefs. Has openly told the class that he ridicules your papers with his wife behind your back.
Professor Klofft explained things really well and was quite funny, and I learned a ton. He can be a little picky with grammar but honestly isn't that hard if you do the reading and participate , I highly recommend !
