Amazing guy, very helpful when you ask. I had him for a summer class (PHY 161) and it was his first time teaching so he wasn't really organized. His lectures were sometimes too fast to understand what was really going on. He is a hard grader, but you can ALWAYS have office hours with him and he will try his best to help.
Does not make any sense ever, very difficult to understand, is not very forgiving, would be a great guy but his teaching is just horrible and so is his attitude towards it
Excellent teacher with English accent ? energetic, funny, but strict. Easy to talk to and willing to help you anytime. I love the guy?very cool and clear on what is expected from the class. Harsh grader but gives you a lot of opportunities and extra credit projects. If you are looking for easy A not the class. Great Prof.
Prof Kumar is a very interesting man. He is generally very clear in what he expects and is very helpful when you dont understand something. His class is very organized. A great deal of time and thought will go into getting an A but it is well worth what you learned from your hard work. Slackers Beware.
Harsh grader for a hard class thats easy to mess up in. Is not clear all the time on what we are learning. His foreign-ness makes him not understand students questions a lot of the time.
Great teacher, very organize, good classroom management. Easy to approach give you a lot of opportunities to improve your grade ? no free points need to work hard. Cool guy.

I took ENR 256 with Prof. Kumar. He was difficult to follow, constantly struggled with the material, was a harsh grader, and not at all easy to talk to outside of class, although friendly. I would not take another class with him.
Assigns graded HW on material that he doesnt cover in class, but reassures the students that it is easy. It was a frustrating experience.

He is very STRICT!!!! when i say STRICT!!!!! heis the type that will take no for an answer. He's a good guy, but in his mode, he is not the one to have, paying to take a class with him, damm!!!! you mind as well give your money to an homeless man LOL, but his British accent does draw alot of attention though. If you a last minute guy, DONT DO IT!!!

Great prof; His expectations are very high for his students. Hardest class I took at MCC but I learned a lot. He prepared me well for U of R. He is always at school – easy to talk to and friendly guy.
He is one of the best at MCC. His level of teaching and expectation are very high; you will learn the material in and out. But make sure you have the time – it a very challenging class but worth it. If you are looking for an easy pass or A – this might not be the class for you. He is a great prof.
I've taken about 4 engineering classes with him. AVOID AT ALL COST. ALL.COST. Unless its ENR161. Great Guy, but teaching is not for him.
Great Teacher!! He lays out the material for the semester and his expectations. He is straight forward with his teaching. Students are treated as responsible adults. If help is needed he is willing to make time to answer questions, if office hours are not available to you. This class is very enjoyable, if you put forth the effort.
Kumar is a really cool teacher. If you do your work, you will be all set. If he sees you're trying to understand something (you put in effort), he will respect that and answer any questions you have. But don't expect free answers. Be an adult, do your work, and you can get extra points on your assignments for handing them in early!!
Great Attitude. British accent. Do Your work on time and he will appreciate. Effort goes much further with this man than brain. Very smart kids do poorly when they dont manage their time to complete projects on time. No late accepted, Can leav class when ever you want to as well

Make sure you buy the book, because that is the only source you will learn from. I'm not sure that this professor wanted to teach ENR 153. It's almost as though he lost some bet, and was forced to teach it against his will.
Must buy the book! He goes over things sometimes after a quiz but ultimately its all up to you, don't be a slacker it will hurt you and he doesn't take late work. He is very nice and the class isn't that hard but make sure you buy the book or you won't be able to learn anything
Kumar, is Kumar. I'm not sure there is another Prof like him at MCC. Use the course materials provided and ask other students for help. He doesn't provide direct assistance. There really isn't any lecture, just quizzes and projects. Pick you group partners carefully it can make or break your semester. Listen carefully he give some hints on projects
Funny and wont put up with lazy complaining idiots. Which is nice. But you literally cannot skip class without losing points. Quiz one day, HW the next. Absent? Instant zero no matter what. Soif life NEVER gets in the wayand you keep up with HW, you're good. His lectures are kind of pointless though, and could answer questions a bit better.
Take this at at another school completely, run don't walk far away from this class, hell any class from this guy. He's cool by himself (most of the time) but TERRIBLE in lecture, he writes all over the board and completely lacks empathy for students when questions are asked. Didn't enjoy one moment t of it
Disorganized and often hurried because he teaches so many classes. Test and quizzes were written poorly, leading to confusion among students. Projects make up majority of the grade. He's really clear with his expectations on projects, and if you follow his rubric closely, you get a high grade on the projects. Nice guy though.
I had Kumar for ENR 153 as well. While he teaches the class, he has little knowledge of the programs, relying on the homework to teach students. He is very encouraging, but cannot help with specific questions. I survived these classes, but would not recommend him for more intense and difficult courses.

Professor Kumar is a fair professor; he will not tolerate slacking, rewards effort.
Professor Kumar consistently brought a style of professionalism and enthusiasm to every lecture. He was also always helpful during lab. The enthusiasm towards physics/engineering he had would sometimes create tangental inspirational rants about physics, technology, and society which I found enlightening. An effort will reward success in his class.
Professor Kumar was extremely helpful outside of the classroom and taught in a way that was easy to follow and understand. His lectures were informative and properly covered the material. The test and quizzes were fair and correlated to the previous lectures. If you had any questions he made sure that you understood the topic before moving on.

Professor Kumar was one of the most inspirational teachers I have had the pleasure of meeting, willing to go above & beyond for students applying themselves to succeed. I found his class highly motivational for aspiring individuals, & frequently shared his enthusiasm for the field of engineering. A high work ethic is encouraged, and rewarded.
Professor Kumar is not good at his job. Even after asking for help and going to office hours (without any help given), it seems like he doesn't respect his students that are struggling and need help (which he doesn't provide anyways). Even though this is a beginner's class, don't expect to be treated like it is one. Be prepared to teach yourself.

Many situations where I asked for his help but get none in return. He is really fake. He makes the class easy (only physics classes not engineering) but attending lectures were not fun just because he dosnt respect you and acts fake all the time. Tends to help femal students more than male which is very odd about about this guy.
Professor Kumar has a high opinion of himself and will not respect or help you like he should to a beginner class. He will just make your life harder. Avoid him if possible.
Tends to grade stuff very fast which causes him to be a tough grader as he lacks in giving much partial credit. Does not like to help students properly. Could be rude at times. Home work is from the text book but his exams are examples from class notes so don't waste money buying it.

Lectures were boring and you have to read a lot on your own. He is not really good at explaining some of the concepts. It was very confusing to follow his explanations and you cant challenge him because he is the Chair. I would recommend taking any other professor
If you show that you're trying to understand/care, he will answer any questions you have. Talk to him one-on-one, and he will personally get to know you and give very helpful feedback. His tests are exactly like problems he goes over in class, and he gives review sessions that are very clear. He also has a lot of energy which is entertaining.
Terrible! You have to read the slides. He doesnt know any of the material and think he does. You cant complain because hes the Chairperson! If you want to learn the material and do well take any other professor but him.
Professor Kumar has a line for what he will give to you, and what he wants you to solve on your own. He always gives you direction on how to correct something, but if you're expecting the answer straight out, I think you'll have a difficult time in the industry overall. His teaching method promotes thorough understanding. My favorite prof by far.
My biggest issue with him is that he misgendered me the entire semester so beware that. I dont think he did well with online lecture they are hard to see and sometimes seems sort of lazy. I could see him being good in person as I liked him teaching better in the labs. I found him extremely rude to multiple people. Posted hw online didnt use book.

This is one of the worst faculty members on campus. They will trample your student rights and I had to go to the provost regarding this matter. When remote learning began b/c of covid, some were having technical issues with taking a quiz, and he threatened them with zeros if it happened during an exam. Do not let them guilt you for complaining!
Professor Kumar will very often go off topic and get the class behind schedule. If you ask any question he will take as much time as it takes, in our out of class, to make sure you understand the topic, while using the most condescending tone possible, and is fine with taking 30 minutes doing so. Expect getting no feedback on any assignments.
For an intro physics class, Professor Kumar does not provide a solid foundation of conceptual knowledge. He says to ask questions but then is often condescending if you ask. My biggest issue is his expectations are not made clear at the start of the class for things like quizzes and exams, especially with online. He can also just be mean sometimes.
Absolutely terrible!! He does not know the basic stuff and he hard headed. You ask him a question he thinks you dont know the answer. He is not at the college to help students but to help himself .
Chris is one of the worse professors on campus. He likes to believe himself to be superior to others but the guy just cannot teach.
I disliked his class. He is absolutely terrible and cannot teach. Worse of all he is chair. The college needs to hire a better teacher who cares about the students, Chris doesnt care about students he teaches at all!
Prof Kumar is both good and bad. He's not very knowledgable about his subjects, but if you get on his good side he's lax with grading and due dates. If he doesn't like you he'll give you a hard time. Just do extra credit and visit his office hours and he'll pull for you. He pulled for me for real -- single-handedly got me a $2000 scholarship.
Absolutely the worse professor to take for any engineering class at mcc. i did not learn a single thing and worse of all he did not grade my papers. i asked him for feedback only to get a laugh or you will see it soon. then he told me that he did not care to get give me feedback. other students struggled and had to visit tutors because he did help
As a person Chris is willing to help and offer advice to students. But as a teacher he is one of the worse Ive had in my entire coursework. I had Chris for physics and engineering courses and he often times did not want to explain things in details. He would slack off and make himself look know it all. But we needed help and struggled. Not good.
Has to be one of the worse engineering educators at mccc. he does not care about his students that much and acts like the king of the whole campus. he demands respect but does not earn it. additionally, he does not know how to teach and when put on the spot he does not know how to solve problems. dont know why mccc has this guy employed
Chris does not know how to teach and mentor students. He is not in education for the right reasons. When I asked him for help, he told me to go to other professors and leave him alone. I kid you not, Chris did not want to see me success and it’s because he believes I was not smart enough. He made me feel less appreciated and valued :(
Professor Kumar is a decent professor who loves his job and displayed much enthusiasm in the classes he taught. If you are someone that is diligent and willing to put in some work, you will have no problem with Kumar.
Professor Kumar is a decent professor that is funny and easy to get along with. In this class all you have to do to do well is go to lecture, take good notes, pay attention, and go over your notes. He did not assign any HW but rather gave optional HW outlines to follow throughout the semester.
Absolutely dislike his class and he does not care to teach us the right ways. Barley grades and gives feedback to students. I do not recommend taking any classes with Kumar. Also Kumar does not know the course materials well enough to teach them to undergraduates. He can barely solve problems we ask him in class.
Contrary to these reviews, Prof. Kumar is a wonderful professor and person. He is very passionate. He promotes the idea of independent learning, but he will help in any way so long as you're trying His courses are very structured and to the point. He is also wonderful in handling conflict. He's tough, but for the right reasons. Give him a chance.
I do not recommend Mr Kumar because he cannot teach. He told me to have tutoring but cannot answer my questions. He is not a caring person and so not recommend him. He was just ok you know not the best

He thinks he is the king of the world but in reality is a horrible teacher and does not listen to his students/talks over.
Just horrible, he does not listen to you or any concerns you have, you are told to read and visit the tutors. I did not get any help from him. He would also laugh at us and make fun of us cause we are slow learners. If you want to fail and be laughed at, take him. If you want to learn and be treated with respect take someone else.
Haven't learnt a single thing in months, his online lectures are beyond the worse. Literally giving no points on exams if you don't write what he wants to see on paper. All I want is to get credits from his class I am not expecting to learn anything at this point.
Just coming to say, notice the misuse of the word "worse" in So Many of the bad reviews. Same with Mary Mohr, another MCC physics prof. It *really appears* that the same grammatically challenged person is just coming on & ruining all the physics profs reviews - which is really unfair and annoying if you're trying to make a good choice in prof :(
Too much work and little help. Not a good teacher to take if you want to learn physics and make it part of your studies. Many of my friends took this class at another community college to avoid taking at MCC.
Almost every question was answered with "Did you read my notes/handout?" Often told his students we were asking questions just for the answer. As someone who took the course, we just wanted the slightest amount of guidance. Also tries to humiliate students in front of the class for missing a lecture and belittle their intelligence.
I took the online course with Kumar. It was awful and was really rude, he treated students like they're incompetent when asking clarifying questions about labs. It was an intro physics 2 class and he made it much more complex than it should have been. He also assigned conference hours and said to attend all of them and would not repeat information.
I personally really like Professor Kumar as a teacher and an individual, I believe he cares about his students and wants the best for them. If you take a class with him be prepared for a work load, there's a lot of studying, reading and assignments. His classes are challenging by design, but the benefit is for the student when it comes to learning.
Terrible instructor. He does not know how to teach and I had to visit tutoring almost every single day. The tutors taught me the concepts better than him. I do not recommend taking Kumar for anything.
During the duration of this class, this professor would constantly pick on me to the point where he put a ban on me using my computer for notes while half the class used theirs. He was so disrespectful, you cant ask questions or he will call you dumb and not help you at all. The content in this course isnt difficult but the way he explains is awful
If you pay attention in class and do the work the way he teaches then you'll be fine. He grades specifically on what he teaches in class.
I took ENR 153 where he never taught the class anything and instead had one of his "helpers" make videos to learn from. the content was outdated as well. Now I am forced to take a class that my grade is dependent on whether or not I'm a good drone pilot. he told me when I went to his office hours for help figuring it out on my own.
he is a nice person for the most part and will answer your questions entirely, the only thing is that for some reason this man refuses to communicate through email. i had a simple, easy to answer question and he insisted i stay after class to speak about it. this was a summer, online course, and i am busy. staying after class was a waste of time
be prepared that if you do bad on any quizzes or tests, he will 100% blame you for it. It will be because you "didnt study enough" or "didnt pay attention. its not, hes just an aweful teacher. he goes way to fast and assumes you know everything without explaining much.
This is probably one of the worst professors I have. He insults to entire class, is disrespectful and talks down to you. He never finishes through any problems so when you go to study you get lost from the notes. He expects you to already know how to do everything. He has no sympathy and has an attitude if you ask many questions.
Dr. Kumar's teaching style in physics was effective for grad school prep. He pauses after each concept for questions, repeats can frustrate him. Few used cameras, which was annoying to him as well (rightfully so). Pivot for labs was a huge advantage they are so easy. Recommend if you prefer straightforward teaching and dedicated support.
I was in his class for a few days and immediately switched to a different professor. He will make fun of you in class and not answer any questions and just uses the excuse "That's engineering baby" and figure it out yourself. Watched him constantly pick on a kid with disabilities in the class room and that's when I had enough and switched out.
He doesn't care for you to actually understand the criteria. He says "everything is the same." I had missed class due to a car accident and he said "okay?" like he was confused why I was speaking to him followed by "ask a classmate what you missed." Real professional right? By the end of the semester more than half of my classmates had withdrawn.
Professor Kumar is actually really funny, and he makes class more interesting. But he's a tough grader and a strict instructor, so don't expect to get an easy A. There's a lot of homework too, and it can feel like too much sometimes. If you do the work, you'll learn a lot. His accent draws a lot of attention though
HE BY FAR IS THE WORST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD.HE IS SO RUDE,HE TALKS DOWN TO YOU AND MAKES YOU FEEL BAD ABOUT EVERYTHING.I was brought to tears by how he talks to me a couple of times.Even when he is wrong he still will make you the person in the wrong and will give you a long lecture about how you don't know anything and how careless you are.
Everything others say about this professor is true. His jokes often come across as rude, and sometimes it's almost like he intends it that way. His methods of grading are a little sloppy and he gives little to no help during lectures, even though most of class is spent doing nothing.
This class was hard, but I learned a lot. The professor is very strict and doesn't like guessing; you need to show your work and understand what you're doing. He can be a little confusing sometimes, and the grading isn't always clear, but he does care if you're trying. Not an easy class, but it's worth it if you put in the effort.
worst prof ever. if you have a hard time with physics, do not take his class. his handwriting is awful, the way he speaks is annoying, and he makes everything harder than it needs to be. my grade started improving once i ignored his teaching and taught myself using youtube and other professors. dont waste your money
everything other negative ratings have said about him is true. he is not caring or understanding. if you have a hard time with physics, prepare to be belittled and made fun of. even if they are jokes like he makes them out to be, he can be extremely rude.
He is a very difficult professor to talk to and can be very unhelpful. He has made me and at least one other student cry because of the way he makes condescending and belittling comments
Professor Kumar is great, he has a firm belief that any person can understand physics, (and in my opinion physics is something worth understanding), so showing him that you're interested in his lectures really does a lot. Be ready to write! His lectures are solely based off him projecting from his desk and drawing examples. Solid 8.7/10 professor.
Professor Kumar is an excellent teacher. He encourages critical thinking, not plug-and-chug methods. He doesn't use PowerPoints. Instead, problems are done handwritten. As a class, we solve the problems together. Offers regular office hours, exams are fair—if you attend class, you'll be well prepared. It's clear he loves physics and loves teaching.
