The most difficult exams I have ever taken. Very nice man. Knows his stuff. Coursed treated like an upper level course.
i'd never taken any psych before, and i really enjoyed the way he taught the class. it was a lot of studying, and the tests were a bit tough, but i really liked his sense of humor. i don't think he's teaching 111 anymore, though...
Very challenging class. I studied my but off for a B. Lowry knows his stuff. I think that if you want to learn take his class, if you want the grade DON'T he's not a pushover.
Bro. Lowry is great! Difficult class, but VERY interesting. He's very intelligent, and really wants you to learn from his class. If you want to be lazy and not read the text, don't take his class. He's very helpful if you're willing to put in the time to prepare for class. Great sense of humor!
Seriously one of the beest teachers I have ever had. Always willing to help you out or just listen and give good advice. Really good at remembering names.
Lowry's 111 class is what convinced me to become a psych major. His knowledge of the realm of psychology is impressive. Don't take his classes if you want any easy grade though- you have to work for it. great teacher great person great material.
Very, very cool, nice guy. knows his stuff and goes out of his way to explain concepts. also, very reasonable about grades and life in general. glad i got to experience his class
honestly his tests are so hard, i studied more for this class than any other class i have ever taken... but i absolutely LOVED it. he is an amazing teacher, if you want to learn alot TAKE his class just know its alot of work, but definitly worth it in the

Well I really think that he dose not teach, you read the chapter and then as questions in class that's it. Not open to much thinking outside of what he is intrested in.
His class was frustrating when he did the points system because if I didn't know an answer to the question I was randomly called on to answer, I didn't get points. He got rid of the points, lecture more and so 10 of 28 people come cause they want to.
A very hard class from a very hard teacher. no wonder i had to take it twice. he was a good teacher and there for you if you needed something.
Chris Lowry is a top-notch professor. He knows what he is talking about, and does a great job of conveying his knowledge to students. This class was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.
Class was very difficult, along with the tests. He calls on people randomly to answer questions. It makes you feel very uncomfortable- doesn't matter if you've read or not.
He expects the students to know the material in one semester as well as he does after graduate school and 20 years of teaching it. He is more concerned about the material itself and definatley not about the students and their struggles. Puts on a very good front of warmth but is cold as ice inside.
Missed Class many times and gave Ridiculous excuses why he was gone. Come on we also need sleep, have family issues, and work. It's your JOB, be at school. It's too bad he teaches a required class for psych majors or I would never take anything from him. Your the Dean of the Department act like it!
People, this is college and Lowry treats you like you're in college. If you want to learn somthing and challenge yourself, take him. If you want an easy grade so you don't have to do anything, go back to high school or choose someone else for a professor.
the entry on 12-13 is obviously from Lowry himself. funny he should make a comment about being in college cause he used the excuse more than once that he is just giving you a taste of grad school. I'd rather go to grad school for that. I think most people would choose another professor if he were'nt teaching required classes that only he teaches.
When I first started this class I wondered what the crud I was thinking. If you don't have a lot of time in your schedule, dont take this class. DONT TAKE IF YOU WANT AN EASY A. He is tough and the class is a ton of work. But you learn a lot, if you put the effort into it. He's a really nice guy and will come through if you need the help.
I've taken History of Psych, Biopsych, and sen & perception from Brother Lowry. He has been superb on every subject, stretching us to where he knows we can be and need to be. He is very approachable and will help all he can, but you have to put in the dedication. Who comes to college to relax?
He requires you to think, but he really isn't as mean as people say. As long as you read the text and ask lots of questions, it's going to be a good class for you.
He is a COLLEGE professor, teaching COLLEGE LEVEL material. He will make you think and make you work and you will learn a lot if you are ready and willing to learn. If you want a good COLLEGE education, I highly recommend him.
Lowry is the man. Read the chapter and think about it to be ready for class. Then participate. I learned more in this class than any other class I have taken at this school.
This teacher is very bright. However, he also expects you to know every word of the book, and have every word he says memorized. Very hard class- but you will learn a lot. Tests are hard, and class requires massive study beforehand (he will grade on questions he asks in class too).
Lowry is a rather arrogant man, he prides himself on being 'the most difficult professor on campus. I didn't find his course to be all that difficult, avoided going to class except one day a week at most and received a B- for a rather minimal effort.
One of the best teachers at the program. I don't like the teachers that just go straight from the book. He bring additional material to class. It is hard class, but definetly worth it. Most things in life worth knowing are usually not easy. Most other bad replies are from stupid kids who want to party through school.
Brother Lowry is amazing. He was there for me when no one else was!! He was willing to work with me when I was stuggling the most! His class is very difficult, but at the same time it is very interesting. He is a great teacher!!
I liked this class because it was all tests, but you HAD to read the book because everything on the test was from the book. He also made a point to learn all the students names which was cool. Nice guy
I enjoyed the subject of the class but did not like his teaching and esp his tests! His tests were difficult, you had to pretty much memorize the book. It was a bit frustrating class for me and I generally get straight A's (so it wasn't like i wasn't trying). Just good luck if you take the class and know it will take a lot of time.
not my favorite teacher...i didn't like that he would cold call people and make them feel dumb for not knowing things. tests were pretty difficult. if you want a good grade you NEED to study! but being in groups helped a lot!
I've taken two classes from this professor and both have been amazing! Brother Lowry is really hard but i've learned more in his classes than any of my other classes. If you want to dig deep and learn than I reccomend taking one of his classes.
He is a very hard teacher with a bit of a pride issue. His tests are very hard and his lectures seen to have no real aim. Dont take him if your learning style is dependant on listening to lectures. Everything depends on memorizing the book. Hard Teacher
He was a really boring bad teacher and would never take his class!
I did not like his teaching style. He was very cocky and not helpful
I took him for Psych 111 and at first he seemed like a cool guy. Then I talked once in class to help the person sitting next to me and he yelled at me in front of the whole class. His tests were so hard & the whole class agreed. I went to a tutor and I learned more from her in one session than I did the entire semester from him. Worst psych teacher
his tests are crazy hard so you have to know the book but his lectures are fun
This was a tough subject, so he did an very good job making it easy to understand. There are simply a lot of terms and concepts to memorize for the tests. The coloring book helps only if you are willing to expend a ridiculous amount of time in it, so it's probably not worth it. Warning: it is super easy to get him to go off on a tangent in class.
He is the most touchy, proud, insensitive teacher I've ever had. If you think that education has to be hard to be beneficial then he is the teacher for you. As for myself, the classes I remember the most from were engaging and fascinating, not painful and stressful, which is what you'll get from him.
After about a week in this class I dropped it. I am a good student and am not the type to drop a class if it is hard but this classed just seemed like to much. Brother Lowry had the attitude of "I'm the teacher and I am better than you." I hate to sound like I had a bad attitude by dropping it... but the class just was not for me.
In my opinion, a great professor, but only if you are looking to learn. Many students rate professors according to how "easy" they are. When I have teachers who are "easy", I tend to get better grades, but actually learn less. I put that class as a low priority because I know I will pass. I actually learn in Bro. Lowry's class. Answers q's clearly.
This man is amazing. Brother Lowry is probably the smartest guy i have met. His tests are tough but he is a great man to take psychology from. He can answer and explain any question you have. He knows his stuff!!
Bro. Lowry knows psychology and enjoys teaching it. His tests are designed to test your knowledge. He explains concepts well and works hard to make sure that you understand. This class is not designed to be a no work class, it takes effort and study. There are no group projects and no papers, just quizzes and tests. Br. Lowry Recommended.
Majority of class was; people asking questions unrelated to the material and him asking questions when no one read beforehand. Lectures were valid but uninteresting/unhelpful, not the best lecturer. The book is all you really need to get an A. Tests are difficult but not impossible. He's got a small superiority complex but nice and willing to help.
Bro Lowry is one of the best Professors at BYUI! He is incredible humble and even self-effacing in his humor. He is very helpful and if he does not know the answer he admits it and encourages further research. Always open to comments and discussions in class. I had him 4 Sens&Perception and BehavNeuro, and I will gladly take another of his classes.
He's very interesting and extremely intelligent, he cares very much about his field and sharing it with others. This is a class for learning, BUT exams are rather hard. The very first exam the class avg was 67%. The exams are comprised of all applications of the things you learns not just definitions. Start studying early is my recommendation!
Brother Lowry, Is a decent teacher and you will do pretty well in his class if you take good notes and listen. He's not too friendly when it comes to helping students. I had a 89.47% at the end of the semester and needed .03% to get an A. When I asked him if I could do something to boost my grade he would even discuss it.
Very Difficult to Understand all of the material in the class, lots of information to know for each test, which consist of 100-105 questions. Will not negotiate grades, was .3 from obtaining a passing grade and he wouldn't discuss anything i could do. Good guy, hard class.
Bro Lowry, my semester has been so stressful because of your class! But honestly, it's not him, it's the content. Neurobiology is very difficult. The man himself is very intelligent, hilarious, and caring. Kids that say he is pompous probably just feel stupid around him cause he knows so much. But he cares a lot about teaching. Hardest class yet!
Brother Lowry does not teach the subject. The only way to learn it is all of the memorization from the textbook. It's a lot of reading and hard work. It's not even work that's worth it. If you want someone who gives good lectures I suggest you go elsewhere. I could have taken an online psychology class and it would have been easier.
This is a pretty tough class. You really have to come to class prepared if you want to do well on his tests. You're going to end up teaching yourself psychology and then you go to class to review. Study the objectives that he provides online, that's where he gets his test questions. You have to put in a lot of studying for this class.
Very unstructured lectures. Tests are extremely hard.
He gets a bad rap. The material is definitely difficult, I think he uses the same tests year after year, b/c he'd lecture on a subject for an entire class and it would not end up on the test. He doesn't seem to care that many students do poorly, so work hard. 99% of your grade depends upon how much you study the book. Pretty nice guy. Tough class.
Yes, the class isn't the easiest class you've ever taken, but honestly it's not the hardest either. Just do the work. As for Bro. Lowry, he is not a clear professor. His exams cover information that he hardly covers in class. Just make sure you always read the material, because he isn't very good at exam prep.
It's true that he doesn't mention everything on the exam. So you do need to read the textbook a lot. But I think this subject needs more time to cover it thoroughly, so I don't really think it's his fault that he didn't talk about EVERYthing on the exam. Personally, I didn't have much problem understanding his class. It was fun for me!
Brother Lowry is a GREAT teacher, but EXPECT TO WORK. He expects you to actually read the book (which you should be doing if you really want to learn anyway) and come to class knowing at least a little bit about the day's discussion. Overall, though, he was very nice, helpful and thorough. If you attend class and read, you're good.
Lowry is an awesome teacher, his class requires work, but the book isn't too difficult to read and he is willing to talk to you if you need help and go ask for it.
He is such a nice teacher! Offers help for anyone who wants it. Textbook reading is mandatory-if you read then you'll understand what he is talking about. If you don't read you will be lost. Quiz's due day before class starts of a new chapter-very easy can retake as many times as you want. Hard but worth it! Just study a lot and you will pass
Awesome teacher! He really knows his stuff! He is always more than happy to help you out and explain things outside of class if you need him to!! The class is NOT easy... but it is such a cool class! If you are a psych or pre-med major, definitely take this class!!
I absolutely love this guy! I love the way he teaches! He is a great teacher and a great man! So happy to have taken classes from him. For sure my favorite psychology teacher by far!
This class is very difficult. Brother Lowry is really nice and tries to make sure that everyone is on the same page, but he doesn't always do this very well. He gives a ton of homework that is only worth 5% of your grade. Also the research paper he has you do is ridiculous.
This class was ridiculusly hard. Brother Lowry is a great guy, but a very hard teacher. I had a hard time with his class. He has pop quizes that really hurt your grade and his tests are extremely hard. I would study for 9 hours and only get a C. Not something I like.
He knows his stuff and he knows how to teach BUT he allows you to take control of your education and put some effort into it. It was a difficult class but he was more than willing to help. I wasn't very interested in the topic before and now I love it. It was one of my favorite on campus.
Bro Lowry was my favorite teacher. He is sooo smart and knows his stuff. I loved going to his class. He did give pop quizzes, but they were relatively easy. He's super nice and funny. You do have to study, but if you're really interested in psychology you'll enjoy it. I loved that class.
I think Brother Lowry is an AMAZING teacher! I have learned SO SO much from his class. He does expect you to work hard and I think some people complain about that but if you are willing to do the work and just read your book then its not hard to get a good grade. He is always willing to help students too and really wants everyone to succeed.
He is an amazing guy! super funny, and smart. But this is a very hard class. His test have nothing to do with what we learn in class, it is all in the textbook or on his slides online.STUDY THEM! He tells super funny jokes and wants his students to know everything about the brain, but we really only want to know enough to pass the test really.
He is a very nice and funny guy; however, it was the hardest class I've had, ever. I barely passed and I studied my butt off and I just couldn't seem to grasp the concepts, as most of the class. He really knows what he's talking about, but he doesn't explain it well. He is very willing to stay after class to help and explain though.
He talked a bunch in class but none seemed to be useful for what was on his tests.
If you don't like a teacher that sticks to the book then you won't enjoy this class. You have pop quizzes about a chapter you just read the day before class & you are expected to basically understand the entire thing. He's helpful tho & his CHAPTER OUTLINES are a great resource, I don't know why most people didn't do them. It's you study guide.
Professor Lowry is truly an amazing and gifted teacher. He is incredibly willing to answer any questions and always admits when he doesn't know the answer (which isn't often). He refuses to move on until the class understands! TAKE HIM. He CARES about his students.
Bro. Lowry is an awesome teacher. The class is hard, but if you read and do the outlines seriously you can get an A. His class time is a discussion on the reading material and will only lecture to explain it in more detail. Tests are hard, no projects, HW is the outlines. He knows tons about psych and is more than willing to take time to teach you.
Bro Lowry is a funny dude! He does care if you understand. He goes right along with the book so if you do the outlines and study them you should get a good grade-too bad for me it took til about halfway through the semester to figure that out. I am going to retake his class because it IS interesting and I know I can get a better grade on exams.
Awful! His lectures are enjoyable sometimes, but useless when it comes test time. You have no idea how to prepare and he's ho help. He just expects you to figure it out. He actually said first day that it was not his job to teach us the material and that he didn't plan on covering hardly any of the material we'd be tested on. What?!
Very Good teacher. He does not prep for exams and he is clear about this from the outset of the class. You HAVE to STUDY the book, just reading it isn't enough. He has a study guide available ask for it and use it. He will not cover everything in class that is on the test. He expects you to take control of your own education! Awesome man!
Bro. Lowry has a tendency to allow discussions to get off topic in class and can be vague on his tests. You might not do well at first, but pay attention to how he writes his exams. READ YOUR TEXTBOOK! Schedule a chance to go over past tests, he will give you suggestions that will really help on future exams!
Bro Lowry is a GREAT teacher. He explains the info in an understanding way. He begs his students to come to him after class for further clarification. The ONLY reason people rate him bad is because the info in the class is super hard.. But that's not his fault. Dont let the reviews scare you.. He is good!
Bro. Lowry is one of the nicest people I have ever met. He is more than willing to help. Just read and ask questions if you do not understand the book. You have everything you need to succeed. I highly recommend taking a class from him. Do not let the other reviews scare you. You just have to study!! I loved this class.
BEST TEACHER EVER! I'm an international student so I has very worried about taking neurobiology. However, his funny and amazing examples made it crystal clear. He was always willing to help me during office hours and after class. Read the book, write the summaries, ask of you have questions and you'll be ready for the test.
Brother Larry is one of the hardest teachers I've ever had. However, he is also the most fair professors that I've ever had. He always makes himself available for office hours, checks his email promptly more than twice a day, and will take time out of his day that are not office hours to go over questions with you. Answer the objectives.
Great class taught by a great guy. This was the first class where I read the entire text from cover to cover. I did this for two reasons, first, it was so interesting, and it made learning easier in class, secondly, if you want to do well on the test, you need to read, there's just no way around it.
Brother Lowry is arrogant, unorganized, and just a terrible teacher. He should take a page out of Dr. Cluff's book.
I tool Neurobiology from him and it was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken just because there's so much information but Brother Lowry is seriously the coolest
Brother Lowry is super hilarious and helpful. The class is hard and it would be hard with anyone so might as well take it from him! The tests are based on the textbook chapter reading and lectures, and there are quizzes at the beginning of every class. Do your reading, don't fall behind, and prepare for the quizzes and you'll be fine.
This would be a better class if the homework wasn't expected to be done BEFORE the lecture on that chapter. This professor makes a hard subject even harder by the way he does tests and what he requires in the homework. Don't expect to have a life if you want to pass any of his classes!
He is a really nice teacher. He really wants to see his students succeed in his classes. This is the second time that I have had him, and will take more classes from him if I could. His classes are a hard a subject, but with his willingness to answer your questions, and studying from you, you will pass the class with no problem.
Makes a hard subject easier. Extremely good teacher, genuinely wants students to understand the material! Takes the time to get to know everyone by name and that is definitely motivating. I didn't think I would do well but I did!
Brother Lowry is a great teacher and definitely knows what he's talking about. His tests are honestly not very difficult. If you actually do the reading, there's no reason you shouldn't get an A. He keeps the lectures very interesting, but does expect students to come with questions.
Brother Lowry is really difficult, but his class is so worth it! He is an awesome teacher and always helps students out if they are falling behind as long as they come ask him.
Brother Lowry is a great guy, funny and friendly. But he doesnt really prepare a lecture. You basically come to class and ask questions. He is very knowledgeable, but this is a very hard class, so after studying on your own, it would be really helpful to hear the instructor teach, it helps you better understand the material and remember it later.
He is nice and knows his stuff, but doesnt cover much in class. Some students might learn well on their own, I myself prefer to study alone most of the time, but I also think its important to go to class and listen to the teacher. In this class though he just answer questions. Its like doing an online class, and not everyone learns like that.
I like bro Lowry, he's nice and all, but unless you are only taking a few credits with this class, or are already familiar with this kind of subject you'll see its a really hard class to study for. He only covers 20% of what is in the test in class. Students take him off topic a lot, but that's bcse his lectures are just question/answer format.
You will have a lot to do on your computer. He wants you to come with questions rather than lecture. Assignments are worth practically nothing, everything counts on the Exams you have. You have to memorize brain anatomy and make it comprehensive all semester. He will meet with you to help study but he is gonna make you work for your grades.
Pop quizzes. Chapter objectives (outlines) due for every new chapter, THEY ARE GRADED HARSHLY. I studied for HOURS weeks before the exam and I would still fail. I went to the tutor and attended class. It was very complicated. He is a genius and I feel he expects us to be, it made it hard to listen to his lectures/do well in his exams.
I have to say, he is a terrible teacher. He doesn't prepare anything for his classes. I understand we need to come to class prepared and bring questions, but this is the first time I see a professor who doesn't give an actual lecture. He really knows the stuff and is a nice guy and all, but should be working in a lab instead of teaching.
Get ready to learn on your own or find study partners. Going to the tutor or meeting up with brother Lowry can help (and he is willing to help you), but it's hard to make up for his classes (horrible). He seems tired and doesn't look very motivated. He is nice and funny at times, but sometimes I think he doesn't really want to be there.
Brother Lowry is funny and knowledgeable , if you have questions about the text he knows how to answer them really well. I wish he would teach all the important stuff like that, not only answer questions though. His tests are extremely hard to study for, there is so much to cover and he doesn't have a structured class so it gets confusing.
I think he doesnt like teaching very much. You can see he tries to be nice and answer all the questions but gets impatient with some (dumb)questions. Well, if he wishes to stay on topic he should prepare a lecture. If hes only relying on students to come up with questions and bases his classes solely on that then he should expect dumb questions.
I feel bad for all the negative comments I see here, but I have to agree that his classes arent the best. He knows his stuff pretty well, but doesnt cover even half of it in class and since theres no study guide his exams can be hard. Hes sick a lot too so we missed many classes this semester and theres no substitute.
Brother Lowry is one of the most caring professors on campus. I see quite a few people were cynical of the fact that he doesn't teach everything in on the test in his lectures. Welcome to college people. You will have to read the book in addition to coming to class, but Brother Lowry will help you if you make an effort to get help. Great Teacher.
Lowry is a great professor. He has high expectations for his students. His classes require heavy reading. His exams are difficult but he curves so you just have to do better than the rest of the class if you are worried about the grade. Lowry doesn't worry about grades so much. He is reserved at the beginning of the semester but will warm up.
He knows his stuff and expects you to do his homework so you know yours too. When he says study the brain slices, DO IT! He does a vlog thing to explain the stuff that isn't in the stuff - watch them! Class time depends on the students, if you have no questions there isn't really a class. That said he is a great guy and really wants to help you.
Brother Lowry is a phenomenal teacher. He teaches in a way that helps you make sure that you know the material. However that is contingent on you doing the reading and completing the objectives. The objectives are your friends, as long as you complete and study from them you should do fine in the class. That being said this is a really hard class.
I loved his class! Concepts were difficult at first, but things went smoother when I actually read and prepared for class. Some don't like his class because they expect to be given the answers for exams, but if you have a desire to learn and come to class with concepts that aren't clicking, he'll explain it great and you'll get more out of it.
Brother Lowry is an amazing teacher. He will really work with you to go over the material but understanding it is on you. You are given chapters to read and make sure you understand before you get to class. COME WITH QUESTIONS. If you don't understand the material, go see the tutor and listen to him about the flashcards. I didn't till mid-semester.
A caring professor, he wants you to learn. As long as you read the chapters and focus on the objectives of each section you'll do fine. There's a lot of reading and different things to know, it's easily overwhelming. Definitely a chance to learn humility and self-forgiveness. Study often.
Look, we all know behavioral neurobiology is a difficult subject. Don't take the class thinking that you're going to get an easy 'A' like your other psych classes. Given that it is a naturally difficult subject matter, don't expect it to be easy. More so, do not complain when you don't get an A, because it will be 100% your fault, I promise. READ
I absolutely loved Brother Lowry. This was the most difficult class I have ever taken, but he is so good at what he does. He is kind and cares about his students, but never lowers his standards. There are no outside assignments. Just tests and quizzes in class, so there isn't much room for mistakes. Definitely not a class you can slack off in.
He really knows what he is talking about, but his lectures are TORTURE. Very monotone voice that made everything he said put me to sleep, very hard to stay focused/ interested in the material. Exams are 80% of your grade so make sure you study ALL the vocabulary in the assigned reading if you want to do well. My advice, take this with someone else
No homework, only quizzes, exams, and a few case studies. You need the online version of the book so you can take the quizzes. Make sure you have several hours available to read. Take the Kahoot quizzes on the app on your phone so you can review them for the exam. Retake the quizzes and Kahoot questions for the exam (they WILL be there).
Professor Lowry is very caring and he can be pretty funny sometimes but I did not enjoy this class very much. Don't take it if you're not interested in neuropsychology. It is one of the hardest classes I've had to take and despite how hard I worked, I did not get a good grade. His tests are very difficult and they make up most of your grade.
I loved brother Lowry. Im sad he doesnt teach more classes that I can take from him. Hes very caring and wants you to succeed. Hes very thorough in his explanations. Be sure to ask questions and dont be shy if youre confused or youll struggle
He is a fun guy and really knows his stuff! He likes to show off his photography. The course is hard because there is a lot of content. YOU NEED TO HAVE A STUDY PLAN TO GET A GOOD GRADE. Use the tutor. Downlaod kahoot and make an account, the questions he uses show up in the tests.
He goes above and beyond for his students. He is compassionate and willing to work with you. He is always adjusting his teaching styles for his students. You know that he thinks of his students almost as his kids; his heart is in his teaching. I learned a lot in his class, more than other classes. It's a hard subject, but it's worth it.
Don't take this class if you just want an easy "A". Brother Lowry's classes move fast, so staying on top of the material is very important. He's beyond willing to help and support your success, so anyone who says he is not is lying and never tried.
I love Brother Lowry. PSYCH 370 in general is a difficult class with a lot of material. But it is SO interesting and worth the studying! Brother Lowry is really passionate about the material and genuinely cares about the understanding of his students. He is such a sweetheart!
Brother Lowry is an awesome teacher. He knows the material well and cares that you understand it. The material in this class is tough. The majority of your grade is on tests which are REALLY HARD!! He makes sure you know the information forwards, backwards, and sideways. I highly recommend making note cards of all of the terms in the chapters!
Brother Lowry is great. His course subjects are really, really challenging. Do NOT take them unless you are either required to or you have an interest in neurobiology. With that said, he deeply cares about the success of his students and does everything possible to help you be prepared for the exams.
Sensation & percep is hard in general sorry if you wanted a diff answer. Its bio heavy. BUT AMAZING he helps you pass his class. He cares about you and your grade. You MUST STUDY AND USE FLASH CARDS ON BOLDED TERMS FROM DAY ONE. That will help you get atLEAST a B on an exam. Honestly didnt feel it was too daunting. Just a lot of effort! luv bro L
Brother Lowry is an amazing professor! But man, are his classes HARD! If you want anything higher than a B, you have to study and know everything near perfect. If you have questions about the material in the textbook, he will answer them the next day during his lectures with A LOT of clarity. I recommend him, just don't expect to easily get an A.
He is a very good professor but the class itself is quite difficult. He doesn't give assignments really so the only thing going into the grade book is the test. During class he answers whatever questions you have, he gives a good review before each test. But there is so much material.
Brother Lowry is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He is so kind, caring, and organized. The class material is very difficult, but you will learn more than in any other class. Class is spent asking questions. He is very knowledgeable, so it is up to you to take the initiative to ask. Do your future self a favor and take this class!
He is very knowledgable tho. But his lectures are 1 boring and 2 not useful at all. He will not explain any concepts, he thinks after reading the book you understand everything perfectly and the only thing he will do is to ask if anyone has any questions. He is probably annoyed of teaching this class, and thats why he only cares about answering Qs.
I absolutely loved Bro Lowry! I learned more in his class than in any other class on campus. You really do have to put effort into this class because it's difficult but Bro Lowry always asks if you have questions and he'll explain everything to you. If you don't get it in class go to tutoring or to his office hours. It's a hard class but worth it.
I can't say enough good things about Bro Lowry! He's one of my most favorite professors. This class is hard, but if you pay attention to the chapter quizzes and the quizzes we do in class (not worth points) then you will do great. Most of the questions are repeated on the exams. He is absolutely hilarious and very caring about his students.
He is a great person but his teaching methods are not the best. It is all so complicated and I took a Neurobiology class from a different professor with very similar information and did great in that class. He just doesn't explain things simply enough and just lectures. He is funny and nice, it is just his teaching methods that aren't great.
I have Bro. Lowry for two classes this semester, and I am so happy about it. I love this man with my whole heart. He is so kind and funny. I appreciate how he takes the time to make sure you understand the material (which is difficult). He's constantly telling us to come to see him during his office hours if we need extra help. Take his class.
Brother Lowry is AWESOME! I love him soooo much. He cares a ton and is sincere! This class is HARD but so worth it. If you do what he asks, study hard, and go to the tutoring center, you can do well. He is also very willing to work with you if you are struggling. A lot of people drop after the first test, but DON'T! It gets better.
He is the most sincere professor EVER. He's a great example of having high expectations while being truly merciful just like the Savior. Some say he's boring, but he's just a kind, gentle person. He likes to answer questions because he wants to tailor his class to meet our needs. 370 is a hard class, but I wouldn't want to take it from anyone else.
He is an awesome guy. So many professors are arrogant but don't know their subject. He knows his subject so well he has every right to be arrogant but he isn't. This subject is really tough but he gives everything you need to pass. His objectives are clearly defined and he doesn't run his mouth about unnecessary things. Highly recommend him.
He is awesome, he knows his stuff so well and yet is so humble about it. He clearly defines learning objectives and I have never felt like I don't understand expectations. This class is really data recall heavy but since he isn't an arrogant jerk and actually teaches it is very doable. If you have to take a tough class like this take it from him.
Great professor, very caring and understanding. Makes material engaging and prepares us for success.
He is SUCH a cool professor. And he worked so hard to help us to learn and succeed. He made it clear that the course is inherently a TON of content and he would rather spread it out more but its not his choice. Really DIFFICULT course, amazing professor.
This class is really tough, but it's a tough subject. Professor Lowry does everything he can to help us learn the material and get good grades. His priority is for us to actually understand the material, and he gives great explanations. He is warm and funny and takes care to remember and call us all by our names. Truly an outstanding instructor.
The class was difficult, but the teacher is very caring. Utilize the tutors and office hours for sure. Make sure to really try to understand the reading. He loves birds, he's such a wholesome man
Brother Lowry really knows his stuff and loves his students! Study as much as you can because the tests are very detailed. He doesn't give out a study guide, but asks questions about material right from the textbook.
His classes are difficult, but can be conquered though keeping up with daily assignments, going to class, and tutoring as needed. He is kind, likes to make jokes, and spends time going over the difficult material as many times as necessary. His lectures revolve around student questions, hence why its important to do your assignment before class.
He is a great professor and a great person, the class is just pretty difficult. Lots of reading this week, and the memorization required for the exams can be pretty intense. He does his best to help students out in class by going over questions. Very kind and funny professor, and he always does his best to help relate the material to real life.
This class is hard and is a lot of reading and homework. If you read and do the assignments thoroughly you should be okay. You come to class with questions you have and that is what you go over. He is very caring and wants you to succeed. Going to tutoring really helped also.
Brother Lowry is fantastic! He's genuinely entertaining and very helpful. When he saw that students were struggling with the exams, he started asking exam questions in class. Brother Lowry is fantastic, but the sheer amount of content we had to cover was extremely challenging. If you take his classes, definitely get a tutor ASAP.
Bro Lowry is awesome. I knew this class would be hard but I took it anyway because I love him as a professor. HE CARES. He will meet with you outside of class and help you if you're struggling. DEFINITELY go to the tutoring center too! The tutor saved my grade! Get ready to work, but you'll love how much you learn!
Easily worst teacher I've ever had. Class is useless. Writes exams the day they are due. When we ask what the exams will cover he says "i don't know yet". He is lazy, never corrects his mistakes that costs us our grade. He does not care about helping you. His ego is all he cares about and refuses to fix his mistakes to uphold a "grad level" class.
He is a caring person, very kind as well. As a teacher though, he wasn't my favorite. He implemented a new textbook this semester without preparing the course structure ahead of time. He was always stressed and behind, which ended up hurting our grades. It was chaotic, wish he prepared better. He worked hard to keep up but that messed all of us up.
Brother Lowry has a reputation for being a hard teacher, but it's because he's teaching a hard subject. He has high standards, but he is willing to help students reach them. I have taken both of his classes and learned a lot from them. If you put the work in and ask questions, you can do well. He is also caring and creates a safe classroom space.
Professor Lowry is an engaging and caring instructor who makes a challenging class more manageable. Utilize tutors, office hours, and tools like unstuckstudy to succeed in this data-heavy course.
Bro. Lowry was an amazing professor for such a difficult subject. His tests get into the nitty gritty of the material, but if you read the chapters, do the chapter assignments and put effort into understanding the subject material, then the class is incredibly rewarding. He is more than willing to help in his office hours and by email. very kind!
Brother lowry is such a kind guy, but his class is so hard. Dont get me wrong, its a very good class, just very difficult, and the tests are awfully difficult as well. Be prepared to make flashcards for every bolded term in the textbook for a good grade. He does do curves occasionally, depending on peoples scores. Hard but worth it!
Bro Lowry is a wonderful teacher and he cares about both the subject matter and his students' learning. PSY 370 was one of the more memorization and semantics heavy psych classes, and tests make up a large majority of your grade, but if you do the readings BEFORE the corresponding lecture, you will be successful.
This class is extremely difficult with how heavy the load is with the little amount of time given to cover the material. Bro. Lowry made you work crazy hard til Week 7, then I found that he made the class WAY easier. He helped a ton with exams, which are 70% of your grade. Weekly work load isn't heavy, the material is what makes the class difficult
PSYCH370 is a very difficult class if you struggle with the bio side of Psychology. However, Bro Lowry does a great job of teaching what his students need. He starts each class by asking for any questions you have, so be sure to come to class prepared to participate. There is a lot of information to memorize, but come prepared and you will pass.
Brother Lowry is a very kind man and is always willing to help during office hours. His quizzes prepare you well for the exams. He curves exams to an average of 75%. His classes aren't the most helpful imo besides his quizzes. You basically teach yourself and come to class with questions. Go to the tutor and you'll be fine.
Terrible professor. More interested in showing off how much he knows than in actual teaching. All of the exams are comprehensive, but he won't let you see what you got wrong on each exam, so it's hard to prepare for the next exams. It seems like he intentionally makes the class hard because it makes him feel smarter.
Oh man, I can't recommend enough that you stay away from this class if you can. His lectures are scattered and confusing. I walked out of every class more confused and anxious than when I walked in. His assignments are hefty and don't have much time in between to actually retain info. No study guides, just expected to know everything you've learned
This class was required for me and he is the only person who teaches it. My best advice is to see the tutor, EVERY WEEK! Brother Lowry obviously knows a lot and the class goes so incredibly fast. But he was a pretty good professor who wants you to succeed in the class. The subject material is just tough, it takes a lot of effort and focus to pass.
1) Take notes from the textbook while you complete LO's. The tests go over the nitty gritty's of the textbook information. Come to class with any questions. 2) Go to tutoring! The tutor has access to the test questions. 3) Screenshot the practice quiz questions. These show up on the exam. 4) Write the teaching sheet information on your notecard.
This was one of my toughest classes but Bro Lowry is an amazing professor. Expect to spend a lot of time on homework and studying for tests (I spent 12-15 hours a week). Do the LO's before class so you can be prepared with questions. Then review the material again after class. Go to tutoring! Use any resources Brother Lowry points you to. Good luck
Professor Lowry is easily one of the best teachers I've ever had, especially in college. PSYCH384 involves difficult topics with heavy reading and weighted exams, but deadlines are consistent and Lowry's lectures typically revolve around student questions. He cares about his students, cracks fun dad jokes, and makes class enjoyable.
I love Lowry. He takes very hard material and his passion makes you want to learn it well. He is the most patient, funny, kind, and compassionate person. If I would have learned this from anyone else I would've hated it, but he encouraged me to love it. He is amazing and you're going to love him. Best teacher I've ever had at BYUI.
PSYCH384, or Behavioral Neurobiology is the most difficult class I have ever taken, and I am a Junior, almost a Senior. You are expected to read the book and teach yourself, and the class period is "question time". It is a ridiculous amount of information. No extra credit or late work accepted. Go to the tutor every week and maybe you might pass.
