He's pretty awesome. Doesn't take the class too seriously and lets you do what you want. Attendance is only mandatory because the department makes it so. Papers are easy and he grades pretty simply. Loved him!
This professor is awesome! He's super chill and likes to have discussions with everyone in the class. We wrote interesting papers such as "Is Disney harmful to children?" He's a hippie and he's very very funny. The only bad thing I could ever think to say is that sometimes it may get a tad boring. I took him for both English classes.
Best professor I have ever had! He chooses interesting things to write about. Genuinely wants everybody to learn & make good grades! Very relaxed. As long as you go to class, participate in discussions, & do your readings/papers you can get an easy A or B.
Amazing teacher. super easy and is funny and makes class enjoyable. best teacher i have taken so far. He has an attendace policy only cause its required by the department. definitely would recommend taking his class. Easy A or B.
Margrave is a super cool guy who makes his lectures funny and interesting. He asks students to give back feedback a lot, but it's not mandatory that you participate in the lecture. He doesn't take attendance, but since the test is essay, it's important to go and KEEP UP WITH READING.
love him, had him for us seminar. super easy, hes funny as hell. gives directions and lets you do your own thing, class isnt mandatory as long as you turn your stuff in.
He is one awesome professor who can really understand you. i had him for the us1100 class, but i can bet that he will be an amazing choice for other classes too!! Go for him!
He's so hot and probably the best teacher I've had at Texas State.
I had him my fall semester and he was a great teacher. The textbook was needed but if a friend has it you could share with them. Tests weren't too bad, just get your point across and you'll get the credit. Had about 5 quizzes throughout the semester and 3 tests counting the final. Do good on the quizzes and you'll be fine on the tests.
This dude is cool. While the class is SUPER - and I can't stress that enough - SUPER easy, you do still learn valuable communication skills that will serve you well when attempting to formidably communicate with employers. Didn't make us buy the textbook. Take him for an A.
GREAT teacher. Funny , keeps the class interesting. We didn't really go in order of the syllabus which was just fine with me . Very clear and communicates well. I suggest taking him for this class because he is an awesome professor and his advice on writing papers is very critical.
Fiction is a very relaxing, friendly class. It's input-heavy is centered on student discussion rather than just the prof lecturing. Professor Margrave gives excellent criticism about your work, and will help you find out what you're missing. No texts, just writing assignments and a portfolio at the end of the semester. Highly recommended.
US Literature. Hilarious/young/relatable. Loves subject, lenient, clear/accessible + grades charitably. Final grade 5 MC quizzes (10%/easy/short), 2 tests (30%/5MC/5 open-end Qs a few sentences long) & 2 in-class essays (50%/2pgs). Attendance optional & can get a B w/o going but you'll miss gr8/funny/insightful lecture + abundant extra credit.
Definitely not as easy as I thought it would be. Expected an easy a, but can only hope for a B. Didn't put in major grades until a day before optional final. Offers extra credit though, which was my only hope.
He is so beautiful, AND his class was actually interesting
Best professor I've had at Texas State so far. Attendance isn't mandatory. Offers extra credit. 5 super easy quizzes as long as you read the power-points. Two multiple choice question tests and two in-class essays, that you can use your notes and book on! He's a good professor and you can tell he loves his job.
If you like philosophy and pondering the meaning of life, you will love professor margrave! Attendance isn't necessary, but it was fun to go to lectures and listen to the ideas. There was only 2 essay's that were short and based on your own comprehension. There is multiple choice quizzes on the readings about every 2/3 weeks.
Okay, this guy is great. I have him at 8 am and he doesn't require attendance. Normally I would take any opportunity to skip an early class, but I have yet to miss a class because he's great. He's fun, interesting, and actually wants to hear what the students have to say. It doesn't hurt that he's quite easy on the eyes.
Doesn't take attendance but gives a ton of extra credit to the students that choose to go. He's hilarious and truly wants everyone to pass, so he isn't tough on grading. Don't buy the textbook unless you really want to. I barely went to class, never read and finished with a B. Wish I had done more extra credit though! Easy A!
I had him for an 8 am class and seriously he was the reason why i went. He's witty and always finds a way to make the lecture interesting. Gives a lot of extra credit opportunity. I showed up to every class and THEN read the assigned reading. It was much easier to understand sometimes. He likes to hear students' input. This class is an easy A
We literally made our midterm in class and he always asked for our opinions in the assignments. Absolutely loved the class and him!
GREAT GREAT GREAT professor. If you can TAKE HIM. He makes the class very funny and interesting because of the way he relates the class readings with real life. Very accessible and gives a lot of extra credits. Class readings are very interesting. Class consists of 5 exams that are really easy and 2 short essays. Easy A
Really open minded and very relaxed professor. He teaches well and always leaves you with a good message. The tests are short and if you read the book you have no problem. The readings are not bad and if you forgot to read he goes over it with you in class. Gives lots of extra credit and sometimes just because you showed up. No attendance policy.
He is awesome
Learned a lot and enjoyed class. The workshops went pretty good and the assigned readings were great. The grading is flexible/ easy but to enhance your writing style/ process you have to put the effort in. To get the most feedback be prepared with questions or thoughts about your work. Super funny and cool.
one of my favorite professors i've had an txst. he is hilarious and just wants you to do well. he doesn't care about you knowing useless details about poetry, he just wants you to think about what you read in a new way. class isn't mandatory and he posts the notes but i would always try to go because i loved his class, even at 8 am. take. him.
Super casual and funny, gave excellent feedback and sends the best email
professor margrave is hands down the BEST professor I've ever taken. he's very easing going, low-key hilarious, and overall a cool guy. if you get the opportunity, definitely take him, you won't regret it.
This Professor has to be the best one at Texas State. It is an easy A and he offers tons of extra credit. If you do not get an A in this class it is because you simply did not try. TAKE HIM.
Margrave class was probably the class where I learned the most. He's super easy and laidback, easy A. Read the readings he assigns and you'll be fine. Test were pretty easy, quizzes were good, and the in-class essays were even better, don't have to worry about writing them outside of class. Also, the amount of extra credit this man gives is beyond.
Margrave is hilarious, he keeps the class interesting and lets you express your thoughts on what you think readings mean, just be sure to read because thats the point of the whole class. The readings are easy and he even made it super easy for us to access so we didnt have to buy the book. Dont worry if you dont read through be open book exam
Professor Margrave was my favorite professor yet. He understands that most people probably aren't super pumped about learning world literature and so he do not force it upon you. You will receive an A if you do your readings and show up to class. Attendance is not mandatory however he does random "Attendance quizzes" that count as 20% of your grade
Margrave is a great professor who can connect well with his students. Reading are mostly short. He is engaging and funny. This class is an easy A if you just show up and listen to the discussions
Margrave is a good professor. The class is super easy and he's pretty lenient on what he expects from you. The readings are short. The issue comes in that the TA's and him grade differently so grades were unpredictable. The topic was interesting but the lectures were so dull because of him allowing students to talk the whole time.
I am a senior and Margrave is the best professor i have ever had during my college career. He is so hilarious and super chill which always kept class interesting. Although attendance is not necessarily mandatory to do well in the class, i loved attending because his lectures were incredibly eye opening and interesting. Take his class if you can!!!
attendance isn't required but he did pop up extra credit assignments if you showed up on certain days. His written exams arent hard, he's clear about what he wants for his papers. He's a pretty funny guy so I would recommend going to his lectures.
Margrave is probably one of the best professors I've ever had. I never paid attention in any of his lectures and still did great in his class. As long as you have basic knowledge of all of the books you'll be fine. He even posts some of the readings online.
He changed some policies midyear but you don't have to do much work to get an A or high B. He offers extra credit for each assignment and can usually turn in late. You do 2 MC tests & 4 total papers that aren't hard as long as you know the jist of the books he's talking about. Do not buy/rent books everything can be found online. Final is optional
Margrave is literally the best professor I have ever taken! He gives out a lot of extra credit, is insanely hilarious, and very respected. There is an amount of reading you have to do, but other than that his exams are pretty straight forward.
Coolest. Professor. Ever. I even made a profile just to say how cool he is. The class overall was one I thought would be tedious, but in fact was the total opposite. The 2 essays and 1 test were one's that if you just read the stories? You'll literally get an A. JUST READ THE COOL STORIES
I am only on here to recommend Professor Margrave. I am a junior and he is by far my favorite and the coolest professor I've had. He is beyond understanding and genuinely sets all of his students up to receive A's. 10/10 recommend taking him. You will love him!!! He is the absolute BEST and is so funny during lectures but is also interesting.
I cannot stress this enough: take Margrave! He is so considerate and chill, and I absolutely loved being in his class this semester (even though our time was cut short due to COVID-19). He is an amazing professor, and I hope to take him again sometime in the future!
He is a super chill and entertaining teacher. Hes always open to listen to your way of understanding the readings and does not judge your opinion. In addition to his easy way to lecture, he gives a lot of extra credit.
Did not take attendance, but was definitely a class I didnt want to miss. Ended up taking him again for creative writing a year later. By far one of the best professors that I had at TXSTATE!
He's so entertaining, even over zoom lecture. You have to at least skim over the readings to do well on the tests, but he goes over each of them during lecture so it's easy to keep up. The tests are easy if you have a general understanding of the text and he grades more on the way you interpret the text than a straight objective right vs wrong.
You literally have to try to fail professor margraves class, he makes things so easy. Hes extremely laid back and gives great feedback. Do yourself a favor take professor margrave
This was the best professor I've had here at Texas State by far. Take him for english 2330! It'll be the best choice you make. He made the class super interesting with the readings he chose for us to read, and I never felt lost or confused. He's leniant with grades, and just an awesome person in general. (this is for ENG 2330 not ENG 1320)
He is probably one of the best professors at Texas state. He really cares about his students and makes lectures relatable and interesting. Also not a hard grader at all I would take him again in a heartbeat.
Very easy class, lots of readings but he provided all of them and you really dont have to read them. For test grades there were essays, tests and test questions that you make yourself, all super easy just do the work and try a little. Easiest A ever. Take him!
One of my favorite profs. He's hilarious and passionate about literature. The texts he selects are different than most profs so get ready to read some really cool stuff you've never heard about before. His grading is subjective, so if you make a valid connection between the text and prompt you'll pass. He's lenient on grammar but not cheating.
Loved this professor. He provides most readings for you and just wants you to read something. Tests and essays were not difficult at all. From someone who does not enjoy reading, take his class!!!
This is the English prof you want. You aren't overloaded with work so you have time to actually understand the material you are reading.. not to mention he picks good stories you'll probably get into at least a few. Structures the class to where everybody has a good chance at getting a B or higher and has makeup dates in case you miss an assignment
Guys, this professor is EVERYTHING. He actually cares about his students and listens to what they have to say. As for workload, it is literally so easy, only a couple of short essays and, like one multiple-choice test, all open book. I promise you this professor is the one you want; he is definitely one of my top five at Texas State.
This is a great class for literature. The quizzes are easy if you read the powerpoints. Reflections are easy, I personally liked them. The essays I got points off by not following the structure of the essay as stated (format of doc) but overall they are easy. Professor Margrave is smart and caring, take him if you need a lit class!
Prof Margrave is really chill. He understands that we may not show up, but also expects us to do well. He wants us to read the material because the tests, reflections, and essays are over them. Also really easy tests, and he doesn't expect you to have proper grammar on the writings just as long as they make sense.
Please choose this professor! Professor Margrave genuinely makes you ready to learn and makes you want to read. The lectures aren't mandatory but it does help to go to them for more context or just questions. Most of the quizzes and tests are an easy A if you read the assigned readings. The essays aren't too hard and he doesn't grade too harshly.
Margrave is an excellent professor. He wants you to get out of your comfort zone and think for yourself. I loved the essays and even more the reflections. The powerpoints will be your best friend in the class for all quizzes and prompts coming from readings. Easy of you try and follow directions!
All of the lectures are given in a group setting, and we were enouraged to talk and give opinions around the readings/life experience. I found every class entertaining and engaging. The tests were extremely easy if you did the readings. The papers were graded fairly, but with almost no feedback.
Best teacher ever! You will pass no matter what like theres no way you can fail its just that easy. UGH I just love this class very interesting discussion happen in this class even if you dont agree with what someone else believes its just interesting to hear what people to to say about certain topics. VERY AMAZING
Easiest teacher at TX state. He was a decent teacher, but at times he seems condescending towards students. Class was really unorganized moving from face to face to online post pandemic. You wont learn much in this class, but youll make an A with minimal effort.
Professor Margrave is amazing he really cares about your academic integrity and will remind you that cheating is never the answer. Do your best and hell accept your work theres really no right or wrong way to do things just follow his instructions thats what he cares about the most. I loved our class discussions!
Super easy class and prof Margrave really just wants everyone to put in some effort. In my opinion he provided good texts to read throughout the semester. 2 essays which are fairly easy, and multiple choice quizzes that are also super easy if you just paid attention throughout the class. Attendance not required and he posts everything on canvas!
definitely the easiest class and professor i have tooken. this class requiredd little to no effort. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN !!
Professor margrave is awesome! He is very understanding as long as you communicate. There is a lot to read, but the readings were fairly interesting! The tests are open note and very easy. If you put in even a little effort , you will do great in this class. First English class Ive ever enjoyed!
Hes hilarious. Very engaging and a good professor. As long as you read the readings you will get a easy A in the class.
writing involved but easy peasy! would gladly take this class again and again
He is such a chill teacher who values everyone's opinions. 2 online multiple choice open note tests, easy weekly writing assignments and 2 straightforward essays. You will need the textbook a few times so get a free PDF textbook from online. Copy and paste all the readings and their authors in a google doc for quick reference during a test. EASY A!
He's the most amazing English professor I ever had! super understanding, easygoing, and open-minded, his lectures explain the readings well. Attendance is not mandatory but his discussions are interesting. He does not allow late submissions or does extra credit but unless you're a good student, he'll allow you to turn in a late assignment!
I would take this class again in a heartbeat! Tests were easy multiple choice, writing assignments were short, and there were only 2 essays. He is passionate about teaching which makes the class very engaging. I would HIGHLY recommend taking him if you have the chance to.
His class was super easy but so boring. The whole class was just one Socratic seminar, and it was really unclear what exactly we were supposed to be learning. It's definitely an easy A though so if you need a GPA booster take this class.
Incredibly easy A. his class is discussion based, and it's boring boring boring, but you may like hearing a teaching theatre full of students' opinions on literature. I did not. However, I also did not have to try at all in this class, so this may be something you are looking for.
Professor Margrave was great for his class he set clear grading criteria from the first day. He assigned 1 assignment every week and if you do it before his lectures you don't need to attend. He would be accessible during his office hours and would sometimes even have zoom sessions for assignments people found difficult. The class was an easy A.
Prof Margrave is awesome. I really liked him, but I didn't love that the whole lecture time is mostly spent listening to students' responses that often didn't make a lot of sense. Interesting to hear classmates' thoughts I just wish it didn't take up so much time. Attendance isn't mandatory and assignments are pretty easy.
Literally, take this class. You only have a handful of assignments but they are all so easy. I only went to class the first week and am getting 100s on all my assignments.
This class was pretty easy and the only things graded are 3 essays and 2 multiple choice tests and the final. The papers would take some time but besides that there was no homework.
Professor Margrave was entertaining in class but lacked the drive to truly motivate his students. It became clear early on that he did not care about attendance whatsoever, and the assigned readings were laughably short. I ended up skipping over half the classes and made an A+. Every time I went to class it felt like a waste of time.
I only went to, at most, five classes this semester. The "exams" were easy as long as you caught up on the reading. The essays were easy as well and not that hard to fail -- unless you don't do it. Professor is cool and laid-back as long as you do your stuff.
This class was an easy A. If you need an english class/ An easy A i highly reccommand this class. I went to class for the 1st week of school and never went again. There was a total of maybe 8 grades and 3 consisted of "tests" which were easy essays. Overall, if you need a class to boost your GPA and need a english course, this is the way to go.
SO EASY he does not want tyo see you fail. Just do the things well and you'll be fine
Easiest class I have ever taken ! Not much homework either and topics for essays were relatively easy to talk about.
Failing this class is nearly impossible. I was barely in class, yet I passed with a 99%. The instructor simplifies things, and the multiple-choice tests and essays are online with no attendance required. Plus, he's funny. If you're looking for an easy A, definitely consider taking this class.
Professor Margrave was an amazing teacher, the technical writing class only had 10 assignments relating to emails and other professional writing. The criteria was easy and with less assignments allowed me to be successful, but also focus on other classes. I recommend this class to anyone with difficult classes, will help a lot! Go to office hours!
Probably the most down to earth professor at Texas State. Absolute chiller and doesnt have any type of power complex like a lot of professors. You can reason with him. I missed test due to a valid reason, and after talking to him for 5 minutes he reopened it for me and wished me a nice day. Great dude, Interesting class, Take it. (World Lit)
Professor Margrave is such a down to earth professor who genuinely cares about his students' success. There are two papers and 3 exams (including final exam). I recommend you go to class because he gives out extra credit and his lectures are interesting but you don't have to, all his exams are online. Easy A, take him if you can!
Professor Margrave makes technical writing incredibly easy but still manages to teach you a ton about writing professionally.
100% recommend!!! He is super chill, attendance is optional, and you can work at your own pace since he gives you a lot of time. If you grind it out, you can finish the whole class super early. He's an easy grader, and the work is straightforward. If you're looking for a laid-back, low-stress class this is perfect. Such an easy A for sure.
Professor Margrave always makes class interesting and engaging.
Professor Margrave is one of the best teachers I've taken at TXST. This class is an easy A as long as you participate, turn in your stuff, and show growth. I had a lot of fun in his class and actually feel like my writing got better after the semester.
Not much to say. Went to one class and never again because he stopped hosting class due to nobody showing up. Good professor, but if you want to learn something take a different professor. If you want an easy A, Margrave is your mans.
TAKE HIM! No attendance, no final, just complete the work on canv and submit. Check ANY prof's syllabus on TXST website (HB2504) b4 registr 4 class(most prof dont change the syllabus. I have found this VERY helpful). The work is email writing, resume, advertisement creation. Very simple and straightforward. TAKE HIM YOU WONT REGRET IT!!
Easy class to do and attendance was not mandatory. The papers were fairly easy and the exams were online. Overall chill guy and he is willing to work with you.
His lectures can drag a bit but he is such a funny guy. As long as you read everything you should be good, but even if you don't the class is do-able. I personally went to class, even if I just used it as a study hall some days. But realistically you don't even really need to show up as long as you read.
He's really cool, only gives you 2 essays one is a personal narrative and one is an essay about 2 books. He doesnt do attendence at all and you can show up to 2 classes and still pass with an A. If you do go to his class he really likes when the students talk to him and spends the whole lecture talking about life experiences. Overall, he's cool!!!
Not a bad professor. I had attended every class until the last few weeks, when the lectures felt drawn out with talking points going in circles. Material used is mostly screenshots or links to reading outside of class, and typically has little to do with what is discussed in lecture. Recommend if you're taking him in a smaller class or online.
He was funny sometimes, but mostly boring. Lectures were very off topic and entirely based on class experiences, not really connected to the texts. The tests are easy, but the TAs graded harshly for the first essay. He also did not respond to emails. The course was easy, but if you want to learn the content, take someone else.
This class was laughably easy. Class is just discussing the reading, but it gets so off track that you don't even need to read to participate. If you don't care about the content & just want an easy A, this is the prof to take. If you are expecting to learn a lot and want a content focused class—this is not it. Still a good class. Def recommend.
This was a very easy class. Everything can be done online but you should attend lectures because they were interesting to attend sometimes. Only complaint is he changed an essay worth 15% of our grade to 1% because a lot of people used AI. I can see what he was trying to do but it hurt the students who wrote the essay more than those who used AI.
chillest professor
Probably one of the most enjoyable classes of my first year and really made me think a lot spiritually. He explains the content perfectly and tries to understand others views on it as we learn about it. Overall one of the best professors of my first year.
amazing professor, just go to class and participate and you will do well in the class. don't use AI, the essays are easy enough
Professor Margrave is great. Course is to the point and organized. He is quick to respond to emails and grades assignments quickly. Take him!!
