The information covered in class was entertaining. Always had stories for examples to make connections. Very upbeat and awesome in lecture. Office hours he seemed withdrawn. Tests were straight from lecture and grading was done fairly.
This class was a blast, we only met like once a week, class was always cancelled for our "lab group" days, and the teacher was so funny! So easy!!! We don't even use the book, so if you get this class, don't bother buying the book.
Nice guy. Fun class! Lots of activities in class. If you hate to participate in class, this is not the guy for you.
He was HILARIOUS! Time went by very quickly because he was so entertaining. It was easy to do well in the class as long as you were there.
3 hour class, turned it into a 1 hour breifing that did not help for exams. Very unclear on assignments, 2 forced groupwork assignments. He acts like he is helping you, but the smile on his face as he grades your exams makes me think otherwise.
Awesome teacher. one of the Best. This is one person who knows what he is talking about and how to relate and enjoys it! I dont know how anyone could not like his teaching or how anyonme could not pass. If you need help, he helps, if you need clarity he will clarify. Not to mention you know everything up front. And the days off for labs were great
For most of the class I thought he was good. But then he'd come back and totally slam your group work even though it was group communication and the group thought it was good. The worst is his lack of care for peoples life issues. I had a friend that was hospitalized and he wouldnt let her hand in her paper late, even with a Dr.'s note!
The class was easy as long as you were there and took good notes. Tests were easy if you studied. He is a fun lecturer and pretty to-the-point. A few big-ish papers but they're mostly self-reflection papers rather than research. Group project created our own country. Very interesting.
Dr. Meloche is a great professor. His lectures are very easy to understand because he relates material to everyday life. This is truly a recommended class for anyone looking to fill an elective, or a psych. or speech major. The tests are easy, as long as you put forth the time in class and studying. Gret guy.
The best communication professor I've had at Eastern. Doesn't make you buy a ridiculous book, knows his stuff, makes the class interesting. I HATE group work but he made it somewhat bearable. I feel I actually learned something in his class, which is saying a lot for the CTAC department. Fun activities, group tests... Can be a tough grader but fair
This class is easy IF and only IF you go to class. The professor is funny and he knows his works. He explains things clearly and he is not boring. STUDY the notes because his tests are all based on it. And then you will easily score A in the class.
If you come to class and take notes you'll get an A. The questions on the exams are almost all from the notes. You don't have to go to class when your group doesn't have a lab and you get out early even in 50 min classes.
he is good but the course is not really easy.
He is a very interesting teacher.
GREAT professor! Dr. Meloche really know what he's talking about and makes the class extremely interesting. I would strongly reccoment this class for a pre-req. It's NOT a blow off class though, so if you're a slacker and don't like to show up to class this isn't for you. Show up for the lectures and you'll ace the tests!
Mr. Meloche was by far my favorite professor at EMU! He lectures a lot, but he always makes his lectures fun and funny by adding personal stories. He is really nice and helpful. He is a little bit of a tough grader, but he makes up for it in everything else. Great professor, I'd highly reccommend taking him. *DOUBLE EDGE SWORD* :)
Dr. Meloche is my favorite professor that I've had so far! He makes class worthwhile and rarely takes up the entire class time. His lectures are interesting and he tells stories and gives good examples for each thing he teaches. The tests are easy if you come to class and take notes. I never bought the textbook.
Amazing professor, really knows how to relate the information he teaches to real life situations, which helps alot! Just show up to the class and you'll do great! Most of the time, he even just gets done early, so it's awesome!
I had him for two classes right in a row and I would take him again in a heart beat. I got pneumonia half way through the term and he let me make up everything I missed when I gave him my doctors note. His lectures were great because he tells very interesting stories about his life to make us laugh. All the test ?'s are taken straight from lecture.
I really enjoyed this class! I took it over the summer so we met 4 days a week but that was ok. He gives handouts, I didn't purchase the book and did really well. I have been able to use the information taught in this class at my job. I would take a class with him again and recommend him to everyone.
He is a good instructor, his class require you to take alot of notes though. He rarely if at all uses the book, you can get an A if you take good notes and study. He does have a nice curve system his curve goes off the 2nd highest grade in the class.
I really like him, he's so funny, it's not hard to be interested, so it's easy to remember stuff for the test. I never once used my text book, but it does mean you have to be there for the lectures. He looks just like Tobias (David Cross) from the show Arrested Development!
Extremely fair and clear about expectations. Great at relating the material to specific real life examples. Make sure you show up on time for test days, as they start out will a cooperative section that you work on in groups. The curve makes the class a fairly easy A. GREAT PROFESSOR!!!
This class is awesome! It's an easy A as long as you come to class and take notes. You absolutely don't need to buy the book. I studied straight from my notes and got one of the highest grades in the class. He's really interesting in his lectures and uses a lot of funny examples in his teaching. I highly recommend this class and teacher.
His lectures are awesome! They're super interesting, and he's hilarious. He gives you a sheet to fill in with notes as he talks. BUT I took him for Theories, and the tests are RIDICULOUSLY HARD. Seriously. Memorize the eff out of the sheets he hands out. Don't miss class. He's awesome though, just be prepared to study study study!! Seriously. STUDY
I took three of his classes and each one was very interesting and he teaches with humor so it's easier to remember. No book needed, he tells you everything you need to know. Take good notes.
Awesome prof. Very fair with grading, great lectures. You HAVE to go to class though. Tells good stories, all around good guy. Take any of his classes!
he's super energetic and you definitely know that he loves his job! We didn't really use the textbook but being at the lectures are crucial. Also get to class on time on test days because after someone turns their test in, he doesn't allow anymore out. easily on of the best professors here.
Great teacher! Pretty hilarious and sarcastic as well. Class is lecture intensive and the tests are based solely on lecture and discussion. Try not and get a morning class since every class is pretty much mandatory to attend to ace the test. Book is pretty much just for reference only. I didn't purchase it and still got an A...
You MUST go to class! But if you do make it to all the classes I can't see how anyone would get under a B. He is entertaining and passionate and does an excellent job getting the class involved! Wish I could take another one of his classes!
i am currently taking non-verbal communication w/ this man & the class is very interesting. he makes his lecture fun to listen to, and there is NO TEXTBOOK. attendance is mandatory but he doesnt he a attendance sheet. he gives the class alot of off days. tests are multiple choice & as long as you study, you will do good. i highly recommend him.
hard class but he is a great teacher, made things fair and fun.
He is the most nonunderstanding professor I've ever had. He's incredibly unwilling to work with people.
AMAZING Professor! You have to go to class, but his exams are based 100% on lecture, and they are very straght forward. He's super entertaining, there wasnt a class where we weren't laughing.
A really cool guy, very funny. In a way he kind of distances himself from the students, he doesn't try to be your friend. But still class was a lot of fun and very informative, you'll learn a lot about communication.
Professor Meloche is a great lecturer. He is also probably the best professor Iâ??ve had in the EMU communication department. He hands out outlines of his lectures before hand, doesnâ??t use the textbook, and quickly responds to emails. His tests are difficult, and you need to study for them, but if you do youâ??ll do great.
The tests are really hard and he does not say what is going to be on the exam exactly. If you do not write every word he says during lecture then you may not pass any tests. The group work can really be a downfall. I worked for 8.5 hours on group project and turned in a group evaluation a few hours shy and he was not understanding at all. Goodluck!
One of the better professors I've had. Very funny, and keeps things interesting. Sometimes gets off track with personal stories, but I learned a lot in the class. Does not use a textbook, so you have to attend class to get notes in order to pass.
I also had Chris for 485W and his style is the exact same for both. He hands out an outline and follows it.. the exams are based off of exactly what he lectures. You have to study for the exams and attend class to get the notes, but he's definitely the best professor I've had at EMU. He's funny and keeps the class interested and genuinely cares.
Book is not needed. Attendance is. Won't pass the class if you don't go. Test material is straight from his lectures. He is a great prof, really fun. Papers are graded semi-easy and the in class presentations are easier. Go to class and you will pass. I recommend taking this prof!!
BUY A RECORDER- he does not post lecture online, and they are rarely based on the book. ALL EXAMS BASED ON LECTURE even if from the book. attendance is not mandatory but it is if you want the grade. I was really looking forward to the class prior now I never want to hear about NV comm again. Total grade based on 5 exams 1 paper. Easy material.
So far this is the best teacher I've had at Eastern. His tests are directly based off of what he said in class, and his lectures are interesting. Take good notes and you'll be fine.
really nice professor and makes class really interesting. if you show up to every single class, take notes, and study for about an hour or 2 for each test there is no reason you shouldnt get an A.
Easy to listen in class, he makes it very interesting. Not hard to comprehend the lectures. You just have to come to class. He writes all of his tests from what he says in class, some things are not in the book. If you come to class, you don't need the book at all. Overall, I loved the class. He made it so enjoyable. Very easy tests if you go!
Write down everything he says and go to class every day!!!He's an alright guy but his lectures tend to go off topic ALOT!!! very unclear at times and while he is a cool guy his lab experiments are un realistic and his test questions are tricky I never missed a class wrote good notes and received a "C'
Don't buy the book! Awesome professor. Lectures are hilarious and that makes the material easy to remember. Shares a lot of personal stories but they're completely related to the material. You will get at least 4 off days when lab groups that you aren't a part of have to meet. I looked forward to this class everyday! Highly recommended!!!
Chris Meloche is awesome. He is the best professor I've had at EMU. If you go to all of the lectures and take good notes then you will get a great grade and learn a ton from the class. You don't need the book as he tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests. His lectures are full of stories to help reinforce the concepts!
Take good notes and you'll be fine. All the study guide answers will be in your notes.
Best Professor I had so far!! I had him in the summer so going to class was a must! we didn't need the book take good notes you'll be fine.
What an amazing Professor! Super helpful and makes the class so interesting and interactive! Make sure to take a ton of note and actually study them and you will do great on exams. Does not take attendance but every class is important to attend! Love Love Love him!!
While this class is not easy, Meloche makes it soo fun and interesting that you forget how difficult it is! If you go to class pay attention and even form a little study group with classmates you will definitely pass.
his teaching methods are great however when it comes down to exams everything you learn he makes you remember .. ALL OF IT.. threefour chapters no study guide. if you can remember everything words and definitions included then he is a great professor. would take him again but he grads a little to harshly and it could effect your grade overall
Mr. Meloche is in the running for my favorite professor at EMU. He is excited and passionate about the material he teaches, his lectures will keep your attention even with a dull subject. He hands out note outlines for lectures, which are easy to follow. Show up, pay attention, and tests will not be bad. DON'T buy the book for Org Comm.
Took Chris over the summer and thoroughly enjoyed it. Won't lie, the exams were definitely tougher than I had expected with the laid back and easiness of everything else in the class. Can not be afraid of open discussion and speaking in front of people if you take his class. Would definitely not shy away from taking another class with him though!
You HAVE to attend lecture, there is no book required so he speaks on everything that will be on the tests. They are a little tricky, but he gives you ample time to study, 1 week max, and almost 2 weeks for the final. He kept the class laughing and is very knowledgeable
While the lectures alone were not terribly interesting, his humor made them bearable. Looks a little scary at first, but is totally chill. Five non-cumulative tests (including final) and lowest score drops. One "lab" that you do outside of class but is actually fun. (Complained about no chili peppers on the first day of class!) NO book!
i love going to this class. we always laugh, and he teaches through personal experiences.
Amazing Prof! His lectures are so entertaining and interesting. He always explains everything clearly with examples. Tests are super easy. It is a class I constantly was looking forward to attending. He'll give you an excellent experience for learning something new.
He was cool. I wish the lectures were more interactive, but they're okay. The tests are harder than you think. Make sure you know everything inside and out. I feel like he probably makes the material more interesting than it normally would be. A bit hard to talk to since always in a rush after class, which disappointed me.
From the lecture to tests, it was hard to pass with a grade higher than a B. We did group test questions but they didn't seem to help.
Meloche is lovely! He is helpful and very understanding when problems arise. His lectures are very applicable and he is flexible. Also no textbook!
He was one of my favorite professors I have had and this was my first 300 level class and it was less stressful than some of my lower level courses.
Meloche was an amazing professor. He was enthusiastic about what he was teaching, gave very informative and interesting lectures, and helpful if you had any questions. Don't buy the book, you won't need it at all if you go to all the lectures (of which there aren't a ton). No final exam, just a final essay. I would definitely recommend him.
I love the guy - he's funny, knows his subject material, and is very engaging. The class I took was a bit easy, but I still learned a lot from him.
Loved this class and this professor! His tests are all short answer so you have to take very good notes and study in order to do well! There are only a handful of assignments, including in class assignments that are vital. Content was interesting, helpful and relatable to the real world. Would take him again!
There are in class assignments that if you miss you can't make up. You need to take very good notes in his class. For his four exams, you need to know the notes inside and out. Most of his tests are free response so you really need to study hard.
Chris was a really fun professor to have, he's very easy to communicate with and he's always open to helping students if you don't understand something. He's a really funny guy and even in a 9:00am class he kept me awake. Class is heavily based on lectures with one solo project, exams are easy as long as you take a lot of notes in class. Great Prof
This professor is amazing! He is a solid grader, but there are NO make ups. You will want to be at every class because it is lecture heavy, but not the usual boring lectures. He makes sitting through lectures easy! No book needed. Only 1 major assignment. Very minimal homework assignments. TAKE HIM!
Chris is a great professor. He always knows how to make light of any situation and makes the class easily engaging! I would recommend him to anyone who wants to take Nonverbal Communication!
Mr. Meloche is an awesome professor, he is hilarious and keeps lecture easy to understand and non boring. Although his tests are not easy, they are not incredibly difficult. But seriously plan to study for a minimum of 3-4 hours for each exam!
I was nervous going into this class because I heard it was super hard which it is, but Meloche makes it seem easy and gives you confidence within yourself. There are a lot of papers since it is a writing class, and he is picky with grammatical situations but other than that he was the best guy professor I've ever had.
Chris has been my favorite professor at EMU. He makes the most difficult concepts and theories easy to understand. The tests are a bit difficult, its primarily short answer, so if you want a good grade you have to show up and take good notes. He has a review the class period before every exam (we had 4), and he lets you make some of the questions.
Decent professor. Lectures are informative and interesting. An alright guy but a tough grader when it comes to tests. Has a weird grading system that will leave you confused about your grade for the whole semester. Probably wouldn't take him again.
There are five non-cumulative tests (including the final). Everything you need to know for them is covered in his lectures, which are always enjoyable. He makes himself accessible and really is there to benefit you. There is one lab that you'll do outside of class but that's the only paper you'll have to write.
Chris is a fabulous professor. He ONLY tests over what he presents in class, he lets you choose up to 50% exam questions/subjects, and he grades on a curve (the second top-scoring student in the class is the A standard), which is great. If you attend class, take GOOD detailed notes, do the study guides, and you'll do well.
He was really nice, the tests were semi difficult, if you dont study you wont even get a 50% on the tests, you dont HAVE to buy the book, I didnt, but if you dont buy one go to class.
Don't bother buying the book- Dr. Meloche does a great job hilariously conveying everything you need to know in order to be successful. He makes the material enjoyable and relatable to all. Pay attention in class, make yourself a Quizlet or two, and you will be golden.
Chris is seriously so awesome! There is no way you cant love him! He makes class so fun to go to, he breaks down things to make them easier to understand. I took Org Com with a different prof last semester and didnt pass, I retook it with Chris and he made is SO much easier to understand! Highly suggest taking him for Org Com!
Absolutely adored this class! Attendance is not mandatory, but if you miss you will be lost. Take detailed notes! The lectures give you everything you need to pass the exams. Very accommodating grading scale! There is one paper. Make sure your paper is following exactly what he is asking.
Dr. Meloche was an incredible lecturer and definitely captures your attention right away. He makes all his lectures interesting and uses great real-life example. His exams were easy as long as your read your notes. You don't need a book, you just need to pay attention in class. Would highly highly recommend this professor.
I think his lectures are extremely important so you fully understand the material. All of is his tests are heavily based on applying your knowledge through examples, not through defining terms and concepts. The first test was rough, but later on things got a lot better. There is one lab worth a test grade and one of the tests will be dropped!
Dr. Meloche is a gem of a professor, his lectures are amazing and he has a great sense of humor. For the most part, the course is all exam based, however, there is one lab report you must do. The exams are based on lecture so its recommended you show up. Youre allowed to drop one exam.
lecture every day, only homework you'll ever have is one lab . test question not based on definitions more so examples
Chris Meloche is a really great lecturer. He is super engaging and made class fun. I thought this class was gonna be a bore, but it turned out to be pretty interesting. Attendance is not mandatory, but come to class everyday and take good notes, and you will do great. There is 4 exams, case study, and some class assignments.
Dr. Meloche was, hands down, the most engaging and effective lecturer I've ever had the pleasure of taking a class from. Do yourself a favor and take anything you can that he offers. Exams are less definition based, and require more of an understanding of the concepts presented. Supplement your notes with info from the book and you'll be golden!
Lowest exam score is dropped. 5 exams each based on 3 lectures worth of content. One lab and lab report but he gives plenty of time and explanation. Would absolutely take him again. Very engaging, attendance isnt mandatory but if you want to do well take notes in lecture. Great class.
One of the very few classes I walked away from and felt like it was both an "Easy A" and that I learned a ton. Profs lectures were engaging, funny, and really well done. Makes you apply concepts on exams, but it is easy if you attend class and the test prep day. Come to class, and enjoy!
Chris is probably my favorite professor in CTAC! He actually knows what he's teaching and is able to communicate it effectively. Don't by the book (he tells you that you don't need it). Show up to class. There are a few in-class assignments, random attendance, and three tests. I wish COVID didn't shorten my semester with him!
If you are not an auditory learner, do not take this class. You are expected to take notes by ear, and if you miss anything, there aren't any PowerPoints to refer to. The tests are heavy, and consist mainly of short answer questions. He's a tough grader, and does not incorporate different learning styles. Even with a pandemic, the final was timed.
Meloche is everything you could want out of a professor-- links concepts with hilarious stories that helped me remember, gives great feedback, not a pop quiz in sight, and is very accessible and approachable. Best I've had. Curves tests one below the highest score and drops your worst test grade. Very understanding relatable, caring, knowledgable.
Meloche is a great and funny lecturer, however the whole class is decided by 3 tests and a research paper you have to do on your own so if you don't enjoy lectures this might not be the class for you. Class was interesting enough, but I would've liked some different projects and new ways to learn some of the materials other than lectures
As long as you follow the directions on the assignments you will do well! Five 700-word essays and seven 250 word discussions with having to respond to three classmates with at least a 100 word response. Great professor! Great Class!
Professor Meloche was great! Since courses are currently online due to the pandemic, professor Meloche wrote notes out for each section in a clear and interesting manner. What was expected of us was clearly outlined, and he provided feedback in a quick and constructive manner. I absolutely adored taking this class.
Easy A! There's only one assignment per week with a lecture you need to review before you can complete it. The "formal essays" are only 750 words and he goes easy on you, if you stick to the prompt. The material is interesting and the class was overall a good experience. If you just need an easy class to fill up your schedule, this is it!
Meloche is very energetic with his lectures and makes the concepts very easy to grasp. Tests are fairly easy if you take good notes on the lectures. Quick to respond to emails.
I have mixed feelings about this professor. He is a great lecturer, he is also very engaging. The entire class is very lecture heavy. If you miss a class, you miss a lot of material. The is issue because there is nothing for you to refer to. No PowerPoints, lecture notes. The problem with this is that not everyone learns like that.
Professor Meloche has easily become my favorite professor while being at EMU. I enjoy all of his lectures and he makes them easy to understand. You should definitely look into taking his nonverbal class, its the best class I've taken by far!
Very attentive and wants to make sure students know the content. Accessible and gives good feedback with assignments
Six essays, 800 words each. Discussion boards every week. Very straightforward class, and gives great feedback. Relates concepts back to real world experiences, and has you do the same in your discussion posts. Easy and fun class!
Mr. Meloche is hilarious and such a great lecturer. All the topics covered were very clearly explained and encourages questions to ensure understanding. 4 exams and one 800-word paper are all you have to worry about the whole semester. He grades everyone's exams based on the second-best score, which typically works in your favor. Loved the class.
great professor and lecturer, but he speaks fast so make sure that you're prepared and ready to take notes. tests were kind of difficult, but as long as you pay attention, take notes, and ask questions, you'll be good.
The lectures are fun but if you're not a fast note-taker you might want to record them; he doesn't have resources for info outside of class. There are 3 tests, 1 project, a final. Tests & final are multiple-choice. Not too bad if you review your notes. The project is the only written item & the only homework. No textbook required, no group work :)
The course was very informational and interesting. Everything that I learned, I felt could be translated into real life experiences. The professor grades easy in my opinion. Most of the assignments were discussions or papers, but I don't feel as if I had much homework at once. Each week you were given a fair deadline. Professor gives great feedback
Professor Meloche has great knowledge of organizational communication. There is only one assignment per week (either a discussion post or an essay). The only critique I have is that he writes directions in paragraph form so I missed a part of an assignment and got points taken off. Other than this I enjoyed the class!
Has a nice sense of humor and seems decent as a person. In class, however, he can be a bit difficult to work with. He doesn't upload any of the slides he uses for the lectures, which is very frustrating for visual learners like me, and anyone else who needs them. It's a race to take notes and memorize an overload of material for each chapter.
Professor Meloche's lectures are engaging and informative. The workload is manageable, with exams and a final paper as the main assessments. unstuck ai was a great study tool that really helped me stay on top of the material. Overall, an enjoyable and valuable learning experience.
This is a tough class, lots of memorizing and you have to take a lot of notes. However the class is actually interesting, he does his best to keep it fun, and he will answer any questions. 1 paper, 1 group project, 4 tests over the semester. No textbook or reading, just lectures and notes. Very reasonable guy, grades on a curve, enjoyed this class.
Had him for COMM226 in-person and for COMM354 online (got an A). In both classes, he was amazing! Both classes were paced well, lectures (oral and written) were easy to understand and he made them funny at appropriate times. Gave great feedback, especially online. Gave feedback even on discussion boards.
Attendance is important, and I'd recommend recording his lectures if you aren't a fast note-taker since he packs a lot of info into his lectures. He's very nice & funny, & is super approachable if you have questions. The class period before the test is a review day for answering questions. 4 tests overall, plus 2 projects. Would recommend!
