Class attendance is not mandatory but to do good on the mid-term and final it's vital to take the class notes and arguments. Few homework assignments, critical grader on papers. He is very helpful and clear, make an effort and you do fine. He loves what he does, very passionate, and makes class interesting. I'm glad I took his class!
I've had this professor twice now and he is truly an outstanding instructor! He is extremely fair, clear, flexible, understanding, and really knows his stuff! He's easy to understand and loves in class discussions. His method of explaining the material is highly effective. He makes every class interesting - He'll make you love philosophy!
My favorite instructor. Class is not mandatory but I think i missed one or two classes due to illness. This class makes you think so in depth about everything! It's a trip and the professor is extremely interesting and keeps your attention throughout the entire semester. Would definitely recommend this instructor.
Awesome prof. Spends the days prior to the exam telling you everything you need to know. Very approachable, kind, and enthusiastic. Lectures keep your interest and make you think.
Best teacher i've had so far
Smart man. He can take on any angle of a philosophical argument and make it convincing. Overall, you'll get an A if you do what he asks of you. I didn't and got a B. Fully recommend taking his class, you'll learn something and enjoy it.
I signed up for his class after I saw the excellent reviews he received and he lives up to the hype. He is a great teacher and made me reconsider a great many beliefs that I held. I would recommend his class to anyone that is even remotely interested in Philosophy, you will not be disappointed.
Far and away, one of my favorite professors. He is a wonderful guy who is always there to help his students. He is very passionate about philosophy and is uber enthusiastic about what he is teaching. He makes class fun and is really good at getting the class to participate. My friend talked me into taking this class and I am super happy that I did!
Very energetic and passionate about what he does. He explains things as much as he can and is open to any argument you can think of. The best teacher I have had so far!
Very energetic and super easy. I would recommend just reading his notes since reading the actual texts is to be made a distraction from possible test and quiz questions
By far the best teacher I have had thus far. He only gives 2 4-pg papers and 2 1-2pagers along with a midterm and final. Very easy class as long as you read the notes and pay attention in class. I would recommend!
He was greatest professor I've ever had. He grades based on tests, papers and participations but he explains the material so well that he makes you love the class.
He does not want examples in your papers!!
He is awesome, he makes things very clear, grades appropiately, and offers extra credit for writing on a blog. the class was very helpful, and many interersting, and food for thought things were learned
Take this class! You will not regret it! If you love getting your mind blow like it's the end of fight club every other day then you will want this class! No book, young teacher, interactive, debates, gives the answers to test day before it. I don't think you could ask for a better class! :)
He is my favorite professor on campus. Hands down. Take a class with him even if you are vaguely interested, he makes the material really accessible and interesting.
Chris is by far my favorite teacher. I took him for intro and he is the reason Philosophy is my minor. AMAZING class! PLEASE take him!
Do well on his two big papers which are half the grade and you will be fine. He has two exams which are really easy he gives review guides to help you pass. Just make sure to do well on the paper.
This was probably my favorite professor the whole semester. He is VERY friendly, very fun lecture to listen to. A few papers, but that's about it. OH, & he lets us call him Chris :)
Favorite professor so far
TAKE THIS CLASS! You will not regret it. I thought Philosophy would be the worst class of my semester and he made it into the best class I've taken thus far. He is such an outgoing and fun teacher! I highly recommend him!!
an entertaining little man that I will defiantly take again. he treats students as equals. go Chris!
Awesome class, awesome teacher. Chris is one cool prof and I look forward to taking him again. He will bend your mind into ways you never thought possible. His classes are 50 minutes of getting your mind blown. 10/10!
Awesome! Never took a PHI class before this and he made it understandable. Didn't use the books for much more than the papers, but they were rentals. Helped me with papers BEFORE I turned them in. Great personality, easy course, inspiring thought. TAKE THIS COURSE!
Going to echo all the below. Best philos professor here by far. He's just "one of the guys" (doesn't even let you call him Prof, only Chris). Knows how to explain difficult concepts in a very simplistic way. The type of guy you would want to hang out w outside of class. Lecture is always interesting. Take every philos class possible w him
Honestly he is a great guy and an even better professor. His class was fun and interesting and I will be taking him again!
Chris makes this class a blast. Not any homework Only thing you have to do is write papers. Great class!
Chris is the best professor I've ever had. He is inspiring and is the reason I am minoring in Philosophy. Hands down a must take. If you have room on your schedule for it, take it.
He is very energetic about the topics, but somehow the lectures were still boring. Overall the class was not what I was expecting. I did not learn much at all from this class. Papers are difficult, I always get A's on my papers but in this class I got mostly C's. He critiques everything in your paper to be "helpful" but comes out way too harsh.
Chris is a great professor. He's insightful and funny and looks great in a pair of blue jeans. I was dreading taking this course but it ended up being my favorite one by far this semester.
Chris is full of energy & is very entertaining. His lectures are always upbeat, easy to follow, & he loves to hear your personal opinions. You will walk out of class everyday questioning everything & with a new perspective of your life & the world around you.
Awesome professor
Chris is an amazing professor. I've never enjoyed a class more than this one and the way he lectures is incredibly captivating. He uses what he has in the classroom to get points across and is very willing to help students in any way needed. I would take all my classes with him if I could. Highly recommend him!
This guy is such an amazing professor. He is energetic, hilarious, and very clear about what he wants done in class. It's never a boring day. He's kind, understanding, and you learn so much from him! I think every person should take a class with him.
One of the best professors on campus in my opinion. Such a nice guy and good teacher. Highly recommend him for a professor
Excellent teacher. Has a great personality. Unique sense of humor
Take any class with Chris. Take every class with Chris. At least start with Intro to Philosophy. You'll love it, you'll love him, and you'll learn So Much. Just do it.
Best professor on this campus, hands down.
If nothing else, take Intro to Philosophy. He is the best professor on campus, no contest. Take him every chance you can, even if you don't care about philosophy. Very few papers, the debates are easy (just participate and come prepared for the debate and you'll be fine).
Chris alone is one of the best people on campus. This is a class where you learn without stress. You should do the homework and reading but it isn't necessarily essential- he teaches everything you are expected to know. Is it work? Yes. But is it incredibly fun? You betcha
Such a smart guy who's passionate about what he teaches. He treats the students with respect, but is also very relatable. Class almost always has great discussion and he's receptive to all opinions. Readings aren't essential, but you'll only help yourself by keeping up with them. More than half the class had taken him before, which says a lot!
Best professor I've ever had
Chris is a great professor! He's super enthusiastic about philosophy! Existentialism is a difficult topic to understand, but he does a pretty decent job at explaining it. 3 papers, one exam, and a final art project. He wants everyone to do their best! Wish i could take him again but I graduated!
Chris is one of the greatest guys I've ever met. Took him for Intro to philosophy my freshman year and he was still saying hi if we passed and wanting to chat when i was a senior. Cares extraordinarily for his students. His lectures are super fun to sit through and the papers you have to write aren't too difficult, but he expects you to try.
Took Knowledge and Reality with him and for such a boring topic, he really makes it enjoyable and actually understandable. Very funny and is very fair on his grading
Couldn't be more amazing.
Take a class with him! You will be so glad you did!
This guy is a great professor, and he makes philosophy interesting. Be warned, if you take this class online, he uses a gaming site that takes up a lot of space and has a TON of technical issues. You will have scheduled meeting times to be on this site, but it's nice because then you hear lectures and have class discussions.
Chris is enthusiastic about Philosophy and a delightful lecturer. Makes sure you understand everything. Brings visual props! Prior philosophy classes helpful, but not necessary. Quizzes/tests are essay; prepare to explain your answers. Two papers. Give a good effort, even if you don't fully understand everything, and you will pass.
This is the best professor I've ever had hands down. Also only goes by his first name.
Chris is the best, if you have the chance definitely take his class. He makes class super interesting and he wants people to care about and understand what he is teaching. He is also hilarious, makes class very fun.
He's so funny. The content of this class was different than I expected, but I always walked out of his class happy. He's super fun to talk to too. He makes everything interesting and it's a very informational course
Easily one of the best professors at Whitewater. Chris is hilarious. Really knowledgeable about what he teaches as well. He challenges you to think about things differently (in a good way). Hell always give you a good laugh. Cant recommend him enough!
Chris is the absolute best teacher I've ever had in my life. He is incredibly understanding, incredibly fun to have in class, and will 100% work with any students that have mental/physical health problems. He was absolutely wonderful when I needed an extension for a paper and is so wonderful. Class may be optional, but I look forward to it.
Holy moly, is this dude amazing as a professor. As a business major with no interest what so ever in philosophy, he sure made the class super interesting.
Easily one of my favorite professors of all time. Keeps classes interesting and fun. He also seems trully invested in what he does and often feels more like a friend and a teacher, instead of just a teacher. totally recommend.
Best professor I have ever had, no doubt in my mind. Highly recommend taking him if you ever get the chance!
Chris is by far the best professor I had my entire college career and I am in my last semester of college (and a business major). He cares about each and every student and teaches with so much passion that he has truly inspired me to be a better individual. I can definitely say he has made a positive impact in my life and will miss his class.
Super caring professor. He is very much himself/does not put up a front. Super easy to talk to. He really opened my mind to new ideas.
This course makes you think but in a good way and you can't expect anything else from philosophy. Chris goes out of his way to interact with all of his students and made class fun and interesting every day. I've become a better critical thinker about the world because of this class. He felt more like a friend most days and that was great
Chris Minor is a great professor. Class isn't mandatory, but he makes lectures so fun and easy to be entertained throughout. There's 3 papers, he gives about a week notice to do them, and then a group project at the end of the semester. I learned a lot about philosophy without even knowing it. 10/10 would take again.
There is a LOT of mental work that goes into this class but the teacher does a great job at helping you understand step by step each of the things he expects you to know. You do write about 3-4 philosophy papers but he gives you what you need to know beforehand, he does a very good job at explaining theories and all of that. Great teacher.
The last thing you could describe Mr Minor as is boring. He makes the class so entertaining that it was the only class that semester I was exited to attend, and he does a very good job at teaching each topic. Beware that most of the homework in the class are papers, but aside from that, I would highly recommend taking this class with him.
Hilarious. Definitely one of the coolest prof at UWW. Attendance is part of grade, but miss a few classes here and there its ok. Have to write some papers and debate but not bad. Interesting concepts. Great guy
Any philosophy class you take with Chris is going to be a riot. He's genuine and hilarious, and makes an otherwise solemn class so much fun and personal. He's extremely friendly and approachable and willing to help you if you have questions. Tests are fairly made and graded, and you'll do well so long as you study and participate!
Amazing professor
Chris is one of the best professors at Whitewater. He's a great guy who cares a lot about his students. His lectures are hilarious while also being educational. He's good at making the material easier to understand and gives good examples. His exams can be difficult if you don't study but it's fine.
He is extremely funny and makes class fun and easy, if you struggle, just communicate with him. He is very flexible and understanding.
Hands down one of the greatest professors ever, any changes that need to be made to get into his class are justified.
Chris is the best professor I've ever had. He's an extremely funny and laid back dude who is still educational. Everyone needs to take a class from him. I went into Phil 347 barely knowing the basics. I attended the lectures, took notes and asked questions. He was great with communicating when I struggled to understand material.
Best professor I have ever had. He actually made me want to go to class because his teaching style is so rare. He is hilarious and you will enjoy class.
Another flawless victory for chris enjoyers. Love this man.
This guy is my favorite professor so far. He is honestly so entertaining and makes the class interesting. The class itself can be difficult, but the way he teaches makes it not as bad. I never knew what to expect walking into class, but I always looked forward to it. Need to be in class to learn the material, but I don't think its graded.
Incredibly caring and informative professor. I highly recommend any class with Chris as his class is one that you learn a lot from and have fun with his lectures. Content can be confusing, but he does an excellent job elaborating on the material and discussing the class topics. Pay attention, and you will do well.
Oh Please! You know what they say about Chris, the bee's knees always squeeze without the fleas cheese disease.
Chris is the GOAT. He gives great and hilarious lectures and has a super sense of humor. I never once got up in the and was not excited for his lectures. He also never takes sides on topics which for philosophy is rare. Not only that he also just makes you want to understand the topics better and is super understanding of a grader.
Best professor ever. Incredible lectures and he's very passionate. He will make you rethink your life. Class isn't hard just show up and take the exams. Don't hesitate, just take the class!!!
What else is there to say about Chris that hasn't been said already; he's honestly one of the most genuine people I've ever met in my life. He wants every student to succeed and explains the most complex philosophical ideas in ways that will reshape your life. I've taken four Chris Courses, and it's been an absolutely, amazing academic road for me.
Easily the GOAT
He is the best professor I've ever taken throughout my whole educational career. I took him for Philo 101 and now Philo 347 and plan to take whatever course he is teaching next semester. He grades semi difficultly but if you pay attention during the lecture you will do fine. a couple papers and two question quizzes. All in all great professor.
Amazing professor, so hilarious, makes classes so engaging. The tests are handwritten essay questions, about 4 of them throughout the semester, and gives study guides of exactly what will be on them, along with summary sheets of all topics discussed, so if you study, you'll be fine. You learn a lot of interesting topics in the class.
Failed me last day, said he had a camera in the back of class to catch students cheating. He told me it was listed “in the syllabus” although it was never stated.
On the last day of class I was called after. He told me he was going to fail me because of a year long camera catching me cheat. Super unfortunate, I wasn't able to drop.
Said it once and I'll say it again. Best Whitewater philosophy professor out there. Very engaging lectures. Graded on a midterm (Decent), final, and 3 quizzes (simple) and 1 paper (Fun). I personally enjoy studying philosophy and I recommend him for every course he teaches. I've taken PHIL347 and Intro to Philosophy (PHIL101).
The best professor I've ever had. Lectures are informative but fun and easy to engage in. There are 4 tests throughout the semester but if you attend class, they are a breeze. There are also 4 mini-papers to go along with each unit, but they're just about your opinion. On the first day of class, he took the time to remember each of our names.
He'll change how you view stuff
Such a great professor that is passionate about philosophy. He is hilarious, and teaches in a way that makes difficult topics easy to understand. I highly recommend taking a course with him, he is my favorite professor here. Super inspirational guy and literally the goat. I actually really looked forward to coming to this class!!
He is a great guy and gives some really entertaining lectures. Tests and papers are very easy. The only thing negative I could say is that he tends to switch subjects frequently during lecture. Otherwise, he does well preparing you for exams and the papers are opinion-based.
I wish I was a phi major because Chris is literally awesome. Although attendance is not mandatory, he makes everyone want to go because he is so funny and engaging. Grade is based off of 4 exams - all come with a study guide, and 3 opinion papers. If you need an elective, definitely take this class and take Chris!!!
The best professor I've had.
Chris is the best professor I have ever had. He makes philosophy interesting and understandable. You can never expect what comes out of his mouth. He's hilarious, but there's no way to describe the experience. Its amazing, take the class.
One of the only classes I actually looked forward to going to, he was so funny and made class so enjoyable, so fun
I love Chris, I have taken him so many times. He makes philosophy fun and easy to understand. The only grades are a quiz, a few exams, and a final project/paper. The exams are difficult, but he posts podcasts and study guides and has review days. His teaching is worth it. Attendance isn't really mandatory, but if you miss class you may fall behind.
Amazing teacher, he makes class engaging and worth being in. Posts podcasts for every unit and each unit (4 total) is accompanied by a mini paper (opinion-based) and a written exam. Exams always have a study guide that correlates directly to the exam. Genuinely interested in what he teaches and gives plenty of analogies to understand the material.
This guy is a hoot. Truly the most engaging class I have ever taken. We just yapped for an hour every class and he was SO FUNNY. The tests for this class are like... not the hardest and not the easiest. You have to fully understand the concepts. However, this class is an easy B or A-. PLEASE TAKE THIS GUY!
Chris is great. He's a very kind man and has a VERY interesting view of life. I would suggest everyone to take a class with him. He gives great review questions and the tests are based off the questions.
Chris has seriously been the biggest source of inspiration throughout college for me. This class was my favorite of his so far. I gained a deeper understanding of myself and my outlook on my life. I don't think any class will top this one. Having this class in the morning was a great start to my day. Chris is the goat, funniest dude ever
This is easily one of the best professors I've ever had. Really funny, engaging lectures, and it's clear he has a passion for what he's teaching. The class itself was a little difficult at times because the exams are closed‑note. Homework is really light, and he even provides podcasts he made to help you study. Overall amazing would take again!
