Nice English teacher who gives plenty of time for projects and helps outline what to study for exams. His board written notes may be a bit confusing at first, but besides that hes pretty thorough and overally pretty good.

He's excellent, I'm so glad I have him as a professor.

Awesome prof! He is one of the few teachers who actually enjoys what he teaches and it shows through his teaching method. A lot of students won't like him because he actually challenges you and if you aren't good at writing, his 5 page (single spaced) essays may be too daunting but if thats the case you shouldn't be in college anyway!

Had him for Environmental Conservation as well. He's great, his classes aren't hard at all.

Prof. Murphy really gets into the topic. He's British so he loves to tease Americans, but does it in such a way that isn't offensive. There's a lot of work in the course: 2 ten-page papers and 4 or 5 tests. He's really lenient with grading the papers, though. Most of his tests are based on lectures so you need to keep good notes.

I thought he was an excellent teacher. His accent is fun to listen to and he has a sarcastic sense of humor which makes his class entertaining. He really knows what he is talking about and really loves the topics he teaches.

Funny, sarcastic, down to earth, no nonsense professor. Don't let the 2 papers and 4 or 5 tests scare you away. I would rather do his work than take someone else, because his work is not hard. You learn and he is very interesting. This is the kind of teacher you are on ratemyproffesor looking for. Just do your work. Murphey is the man.

Mr. Murphy is hilarious. He's also an extremely talented teacher. He's very passionate about the environment and will help you as much as he can. Talk to him outside of class because he's definitely hilarious. Take his class if you want to learn something.

He is a funny British teacher. Talks about London alot. He gives you all the materials you need to study for the tests and the final. There will be 2 reports during the entire course, in which i both got full mark. Definitely want to take his other classes if they are classes he also teaches.

Professor Murphy is a great teacher, he explains the work very well. As long as you take good notes off the board and listen to the lectures, there's no reason to fail. I recommend Professor Murphy highly. If I wasn't graduating I would definately take another one of his classes.

Of course his British wit made the class entertaining. He's quite blunt, and really doesn't care who he insults, which is refreshing. The tests are mostly from the notes, and the writing assignments take some thought. He's kind of arrogant, but somehow it works. He's fair, and I'd recommend him.

If you're taking Geography 101, Prof. Murphy is the teacher you want! He was awesome! I had a horrible experience with another geog teacher and being in Prof. Murphy's class was such a relief. Mr.Murphy is a down to earth genius from England. He is a walking brain cell, and wants everyone to learn. He will take time to talk to you if you donot understand. If you need Geography or Earth science take him. It's worth the experience. He is not hard at all. Just go by his notes. Peace.

This is one of those college class where putting in amount of effort will get you what you have earned. If you really spend a lot of time studying your notes you will mostly likely do very well on the test. My only advice for this class is that you don't wait for the night before to study or do an assignment.

Prof Murphy is a model teacher. He makes the information accessible by providing it in a clear, cohesive manner that makes sense. He is also very funny and brings a positive attitude to the classroom. He works hard. He is also very professional in that he never missed a class and had our work back by the next class period. Easy class but some people may find it overwhelming with work. 2 research papers, easy as well. If you come to class everyday and copy down the notes you'll be fine. He review all his tests. All you have to do is study, I didn't that's why I walked with a B. But that's really it NO HOMEWORK GIVEN. Great professor I would take him again!!!!

Prof Murphy is by far one of my FAVORITE teachers! He's so laid back, hilariously witty and is very knowledgable about the topic. I had his EASC 111 class last semester and am now sensitive about the environment thanks to him. ALWAYS attend class (don't miss a day). His tests are the same as the notes. He loves effort and eagerness to learn.

GREAT PROFESSOR! He is funny and very easy on his grading. You need to understand most of the concepts not memorize them. I had fun and learned a lot without stressing too bad.

I loved this class! Environmental Conservation isn't a simple subj but this class was never overwhelming. Murphy lightens up the heavy issues of envir. cons. with a bit of dry humor. he will test directly from lectures and notes. I'm certain he just stepped out of CBGB's and it's 1979. I love him! He gives a lot of information that isn't in the text so you can't miss class and expect a good grade. He's very clear about what will be on tests. There are two lengthy papers which require effort. His class is the perfect balance of fun and challenging.

This class was such a breeze. Do the papers and study for the test and you are guaranteed an A. I took EASC and his Geo 101 class at the same time and he was very helpful. Very sacastic in a fun way and absolutely a riot! I would definately take another one of his classes!!

This class is HARD if you have no interest in Geography but Mr. Murphy made it less painful and a bit easier to understand. I took his EASC 111 and Geo 101 at the same time and he worked with me for test and papers being due. DO BOTH PAPERS or you will not pass. They arent hard and he doesnt require a lot.

I took hum for Summer Session I. He's excellent and I HIGHLY recommend taking him. He'll give notes and tell you exactly what will be on the tests. You'll only have one paper to write but it's a big one. He's always willing to help you out if you need it and he's a funny guy too. Just study directly from the notes he gives and you'll be just fine.

He is repetitive therefore you learn the material and understand it as well.The tests were fairly easy as long as you take notes and study the question guide. We had two paper's which you have to do if you want to pass. I would definetly take him again for earth science.

Dont bother to buy the textbook because you'll never use it. The man is just a GREAT teacher. Pay attention and take notes and you cant fail. He gives you almost everything on the tests to study for, so all you have to do is study the material. Super cool teacher. Fairly helpful, and he covers everything. No tricks played on tests! He's a pretty easy grader. Yes there are two five page single spaced papers but graphs are your best friend, and I got a 94 with pretty minimal effort. Loves answering questions, and if you love British accents, you'll have no problem paying attention!

Professor Murphy is the coolest. One of the easiest teachers I've ever had. If you pay attention at all, you'll be fine. He goes over every tiny detail that will be on a test and is a very easy grader. We were assigned two five-page single-spaced papers. Professor Murphy is one of my favorite professors at CCP. He gives a TON of notes, but if you take them as he writes them, you'll pass this class easily. He goes over the tests before he gives them to you. It's a relatively writing intensive course, but he's a very fair grader. I wouldn't say these are free credits, because you need to work.

Great professor I enjoyed his environment class it was so educational and informative and professor Murphy finds ways to makes his lectures very entertaining. He's a very laidback teacher he speaks clear english with a British accent. He's respectful and undrestanding and gives you the chance to ask questions in class.

I really did not expect to enjoy the class as much as I wound up liking it. I originally took it so I wouldn't have to take a science with a lab such as Biology. Imagine my surprise when I found myself spending time out of class not just studying the notes I took in class but reflecting on future research I wanted to do when the course ended.

Murphy gives 2 papers that are 5 pages single spaced. Offers a variety of topics to choose from for the papers. Turn in early for feedback! Only 4 test including the midterm and final. Gives you a list of the questions. Find the answers in your notes than come to class on test day with them memorized for an A! He's funny. Lectures are interesting.

One of my favorite professors at CCP! I've taken every class he teaches. 2 last semester and 1 this semester. He tells you what's going to be on tests (4) so there is no reason for anyone to fail. You will have to write two papers and you don't have to buy textbooks so you save money. EASC111 was my favorite. Some tests are take home (geo).

Very animated person with a delivery of knowledge that is very easy to comprehend and retain. There were 4 tests throughout the of the semester that are very easy As, as long as you take good notes and actually study them. The research papers(2)were straight forward, too, and were generously graded if you showed a good understanding of the topic.

He is extremely passionate about the course material and is very energetic, so it keeps me interested. He is fun and his classes are extremely well organized.

He is a awesome person but his class is very boring and draining. His hand writing is very sloppy and the class is based off of lectures and notes. It is not hard just be sure to have sugar or drink coffee to keep you awake.

Professor Murphy calmed all of my fears. I went into the class not knowing anything. I was interested in the course but, was nervous. He presented the lessons with enthusiasm and knowledge of the course. I loved his accent as he spoke. I was trying to hang onto every word. Professor Murphy is a gem. He is readily available to help with concerns and is clear and concise with his coursework. His online class was creative, engaging, and not overly strenuous but not a cake walk either. I appreciate him and his willingness to help his students who struggle, as long as they stay in communication with him.

Overall the class was super easy. There is a group forum every week that has nothing to do with the notes/reading really. There are 2 major essays in which a lot of time is given for. Test werent hard at all jus be prepared to write and research because his notes wont be much help. He literally copied and paste feedback for me every assignment lol

Professor Murphy is really great. I have learned so much from him. His lectures are full of information and easy to understand. We had one big report about a country. It was not difficult, but you have to do some research and put effort into it. If you do your assignments, tests and participate in discussions he gave, you will get a good grade.

I took Professor Murphy's EASC class this summer; he is a great professor, just get ready to read. Discussion posts matter, so don't skip out on your answers. The report we had was very detailed, just make sure that you follow the guidelines. I would take a class with him again, he knows his stuff!

Professor Murphy made learning an intimidating subject very fundamental and practical. His grading criteria are clear cut, and I knew what was expected of me through assignments, discussions, and tests day in and day out. He is extremely organized with how he sets up the online classroom in Canvas and is always readily available. Would recommend.

I actually had this course in 2009, and everything that he taught, is happening right now, before our eyes! Professor Murphy was on top of global warming and the changes to our environment, including tornadoes on the East Coast, the wild fires, floods, and everything else!

I took EASC online as a requirement and wound up loving the class. Professor Murphys lectures were engaging and the other resources were relevant and didnt take too long to read or watch. Tests requires studying and the two papers required research and following the guidelines but an A was very achievable. Really fun class and I highly recommend

Murphy provides feedback to every discussion post, paper, and exam. 12 Discussions (200-300 words for initial post as well as the response), 4 exams (essay format), 2 report/research paper.

Overall his Asynchronous Environmental Conservation Class is easy. The only main difficult things would be the test and the reports but its kinda what you expect in college, the discussions are the easiest thing. Highly recommend him.

Prof. Murphy was phenomenal, especially in the asynchronous format. Each week, we had a discussion post (300-400 words) and two replies (200-300 words each). There were also two report papers, four tests, and a final. He never gives 100% on tests and papers.

Professor Murphy's EASC111 class was a breeze. The lessons were engaging, and the grading was straightforward. For study prep, unstuck study's tools were super helpful alongside the course materials. Definitely recommend this class.
