Taking his on-line course. Expects a lot but is extremely helpful. He logs on to class sometimes more than once a day (especially around due dates). Would recommend him as a teacher. Really great!

Had him as a teacher on campus. One of the best teachers I ever had. Always available to answer questions.

The class I took with him was an Advanced Writing class, I struggled, but in the end because of his teaching style, I got an A. I think that he is a great professor and would recommend him to everyone.

Chris is just marvelous! He truly cares about his online students, and is just so supportive. I'd take any class he teaches. I really improved my writing skills, and silly as it sounds, developed a crush on him just from our interaction.

Took the course online and loved it. Chris is an amazing teacher that will get involved. There is a good amount of work to do, but you're okay as long as you stay on top of it. I could see somebody doing very poorly if they started to slip.

for a writing intensive course, it didn't require much writing...easy easy quizzes, he read a lot of merch. of venice (didn't require any student effort), and answered his own questions...very approachable man who speaks kindly to his students, but doesn't excel as reaching for attaining your best as a student!

He is an insanly busy guy but he is hysterical!! Whoever had him online, missed out cuz he is even better in person. He really makes me wanna be a better writer...word yo.

This class was rather easy, but still good. Easy work, the quizzes were short and easy, and the final was a paper. He actually lost my final paper somehow, but still changed my grade once we got things straightened out. All in all a great guy, he was very nice and funny.

He loves to talk about himself, not bad stories, just not always relevant. His grading rubric does not reflect your final grade and he is a tough grader. By the end of the class i liked him a lot, but I did not enjoy the class.

He does tend to go off on tangents about his personal life, but it's not like they dominate the class or anything. All in all a thoughtful teacher.

Amazing professor who incorporates fun into learning! He is extremely helpful, understanding, and brilliant. He shares his great, relevant outlooks on life and the world that can only benefit his students. He is the best professor I have ever had and a great, compassionate person who appreciates the beauty that exists in the natural world.

Nice guy, grades hard, made me a better writer. Has a lot of random stories, which kind of made me want to leave class. You need to attend his classes he does not care about what your explanation is!

This professor is amazing! I loved his because it is fun and interesting, he teaches you things you never knew about before and appreciates participation. When I took his class I was an incoming freshmen and he not only opened my eyes to the world of Literature but also to what college should be, educational, fun, and worthwhile.

I found him to be very interesting and understanding about personal issues. He also gave things meaning for me when they previously had none. He makes you look at things in a different way, and his class was one of the most interesting and fulfilling I have ever taken. He talks about his personal life because he is happy and proud, which is great

Fun class, gets to know every student by name and personally. Likes to talk...a lot. Won't ever let you out of class early, and usually keeps the class a few mins longer.

Really look forward to this class. Otero uses fun stories to relate you to writing. Laid back, but gets alot of things accomplished. Very open minded approach to writing, you'll have fun writing stories about the things that are important to you!

Prof O is soooo great!!! He is a fair grader and gives you the chance to fight for your grade. He does include personal info about himself but why would you want a teacher that didn't share anyhting about themselves? He's is really a great teacher I will recommend him to everyone I know that still has to take enlgish!!!

He was a really good teacher, class is mandatory but went by really fast, never thought i was good at writing but his grading was pretty easy. His stories are fun and make the class interesting. lets you write about pretty much anything. Great guy and teacher.

I took his class over this summer at 8am and after his class I was wired for the rest of the day very good professor not your average class

A really great teacher. His teaching style is engaging and laidback. Talks too much about his personal life, but I'd rather that than a professor who does know your name. Is pretty tough with grading papers, but you'll leave his class learning something useful. All around nice guy.

Otero is the man! Keeps every class interesting, engages students on an individual basis. Fun and very fair, as long as you at least try, you'll probably do pretty well.

Otero is a wonderful person, and quite funny too. He doesn't really have a filter though, so he says some pretty outrageous things in class. If you're easily offended, don't take his class. He does talk a lot about his personal life, but I liked that. Mythology applies to our every day life in many ways, and he acknowleges it. Take his class...

If you really want to learn, take the class with Otero. He is, to this date, one of the MOST effective teachers I have ever had. You will remember things he said and lessons he taught long after you have completed the course. Team Otero!

I cannot say enough good things about this guy. I took his mythology class not knowing quite what to expect and it turned out to be the best experience ever. I learned so much and had a great time in his classes- he is hilarious! He is a fair grader and gives a perfectly reasonable amount of work. And it is all applicable to everyday life! LOVED IT

He can be a little over the top and innappropiate but he's very funny about it. Don't take things he says personally. He doesn't play favorites and despite all the jokes he's very easy to open up to. He's always willing to help you if you reach out to him.

The class is taught with a maturity that many students aren't prepared for. Keep an open mind ask a ton of questions and visit him during office hours. He is very accessible.Although at time he might push boundaries he is only trying to open your mind and to think differently.

I never had a teacher like Professor O. He's a great guy, really open-minded. He's pretty outgoing and seems to say what he thinks. He takes time to remind us of the small errors and confusion many people have with writing, which i really appreciated. Overall, I had a great experience in his advanced comp. class :)

The entire class is basically just a discussion and usually off topic. Can be inappropriate sometimes and definitely puts people on the spot. Overall made class interesting but can be a hard grader.

Before taking this class I really disliked english. This course was on Fairytales and was actually interesting. If you keep up with reading the short stories and doing the work, it is an easy class. He makes class really fun and definitely different. I really recommend him even if you hate english, he will make it fun. An awesome professor!!!!

Otero is the best English professor at MCC. He is so energetic and interesting. I took two classes with him and I enjoyed both of them.

Make sure you're not easily offended if you take his class. He does tend to poke fun at religion and sexuality. Good teacher however, and definitely can relate to our generation. He does tend to get off topic, but it makes the class a lot more bearable. Tests are all take home, and are 3-4 short essays on pretty vague topics.

I really enjoyed the class. I never saw a movie searching for meaning and symbols and now I do automatically. It was worth taking this class.

Does tend to get off topic almost ALL the time. Literature is pretty much about critical thinking and our discussions we had in class kinda forced u to think outside the box. I hate English but I enjoyed his class. He is a great guy and very open! Not a hard grader at all. Very straight forward.

Very knowledgeable, seems to get off topic often but ties it all together in the end. Playfully picks on his students. You need to attend class to pass but don't have to read the book. You never get to the Odyssey, most everything is in the powerpoints though. Tests are take home and extra credit is given! Easy class, interesting teacher- recommend

I like Professor Otero. The guy has a wonderful outlook on life. Yes we did go off in some tangents and yes I got to learn about his personal life. By the time I was preparing myself for my final paper everything we discussed in class was relevant. He likes participation and loves to engage everyone. Funny, wholesome guy who actually cares.

One of the sweetest and most helpful professors I have had at MCC yet! Classes are very interesting and this is coming from someone who does not like english classes. Overall, professor Otero is a MUST HAVE professor! I felt like I really connected with him and that means a lot to me when I take classes.

Professor Otero is hands down the best English teacher that I've ever had. I admire his resilience, love his outlook on life, and respect the way he teaches. I found myself looking forward to class as he always jokes around and brings a smile to my face. He makes writing interesting and fun! I wish all of my professors held his attitude.

I ended up taking English 101 and Childrens Lit w Otero and he was the best always making me laugh such an amazing teacher. He made you think outside of the box if I could I would take these classes over with him 100 times allot of work but so worth it

He is the most inspirational English teacher I have ever had in my life. He is super funny, and he will definitely help you if you need it. He also lets you revise every essay (except the final paper) for a higher grade. Seriously love this guy!

Chris' english class changed my life in all honesty. His lectures are almost too short for how fun and interesting they are. He makes everyone laugh and is an all around amazing guy. Would take again in a heartbeat.

Literature of the Bible with Christopher 's an A+ class. I'd fail and take it again if I had the guts. Self-assessed grade, so I could've failed myself. He's a mystic, so if you're looking for Fundamental Christianity 101, go to Bible study. If you're looking to confirm beliefs you already have, go to your local church. Heart provoking lectures.

This professor will teach you writing structure and style. This professor will also push you to delve into your own perspective and reach past the ego. Worth it.

Prof. Otero was an amazing guy. He was a good listener and very understanding. I have a fear of presenting and he encouraged me to get over my fear and do it. So I presented and hated every minute of it but he was proud of me bc he knew it was hard for me to do. Also, his class was very entertaining and he made you feel involved.

I suggest you be very open minded when you take this class! Your grade will reflect your participation and attendance. It was super fun, great topics, and an easy A if you are willing to put in the work! Otero is a great Professor and I would take him again in a heart beat!

He's a great teacher and hilarious. Expected to participate in class. He tells it how it is. Very caring. If you miss class more then you are supposed to expect to get dropped from that class. I took english 101 and 230 with professor Otero. Quirky guy, but incredibly nice and caring. He wants to see you succeed and do well in his courses and life in general. Can tend to go on rants, or off on tangents, but he never fails to not make class interesting!

Really great guy and some great lectures. He gives great feedback and is always a fair grader. Really inspirational and kind. Assigned a lot of work near the end of the semester so his pacing was a little funky, but not a lot of assignments and will give a good grade if you put in the work. Would take him again!

professor Otero likes to use strong language, but you can look over that. he is really funny and inspirational. i recommend him 100%

Best professor ever. Lectures are on life, with some English specific sprinkled in. He's inspiring. Controversial & raunchy and not everyone likes that but it was right up my alley. Take his class and learn something new about yourself.

Homework is reading and then filling out a worksheet on what you read (he let's you choose which readings you want to do the worksheets on). He's absolutely hilarious and incredibly inappropriate. One of the best professors I've ever had. Unfortunately he is out for the rest of the semester for some reason, but I really hope to take him again!

Best professor I've ever had. Otero is a genuine person that many institutions are lacking. He brings the world into the classroom and takes the time to make interpersonal connections with each student. He's unconventional and honest. If you're open minded and honest with yourself, you will enjoy this professor! I would absolutley take him again.

Great Professor. Super open minded person. Down to earth. Very accessible outside of class. Knows a lot! Takes a while to grade and that sucks, but besides that he is awesome.

Prof. Otero is hilarious in class, and flexible, a good listener, and caring. But beware, his class is not for everyone - if swearing, slightly insensitive jokes, and honest, open discussion are not your thing, don't take his class. Otero will listen to your opinion no matter what it is, and he expects his students to do the same. Respectfully.

He's very interested in his students and is open-minded. He always wants to investigate multiple perspectives and expand his views. Some people say he crosses the line with his jokes but they just get offended easily and it's sad because he really is a nice guy and is accepting to everyone. So happy I picked his section of ENG101 over someone else.

Probably the best professor there is for ENG 101. I hate doing essays but he gives you the option on what to write about. He tells a lot of joke, some may be offensive but he really does mean well. He is very understand but does take a lot of time to grade. Very easy homeworks that are helpful for writing your essays!

One of the best professors Ive had. Only take him if youre not a whimp and have a sense of humor. Helps a lot with telling personal stories related to class discussion and encourages questions 10/10

Otero is by far my favorite teacher I've had at this school, He lets you pick what to write about which allows even someone like me, who dislikes writing, to enjoy it by writing something I can be passionate about. His "lectures" are moreso casual conversations that makes you feel at home.

He is by far one of the best and inspirational teachers I have ever had. He cares for everyone of his students and opens their mind to the possibilities of literature. There are very few people, let alone professors, that intrigue an environment of dynamic group thought. If you do the work that is prescribed you will do great.
