Good teacher... if u study classnotes and do hw u will do well...
Great professor. Extremely knowledgable in topic. He shows great effort to write comprehensive notes on the board. Great demeanor. Works with the student and not against the student.Very generous grader, gives partial credit on exams. Weekly quizzes,mid-term, and final exam, 1 group quiz. Funny & energetic & really cares about his students.
great teacher! I felt that even though I have been out of school for 7 years, I picked up and learned new concepts in his class that will help me moving forward.
Great professor if you like things broken down Barney-style. Excruciating if you prefer a faster pace. Tests are really easy. Very nice and personable. Will definitely take as long as needed to get the concept into everyone's head. I recommend him.
Explains theory and goes over good examples and applications. always helpful and responsive. good review, goes over expectations for exams. somtimes spends alot of time on specific topic ro method.
GREAT professor! Only make sure you do your homework and you will be guaranteed to learn and get something from the class!
Very helpful, very approachable, and does not put you to sleep. A very smart, good guy.
OUtstanding prof. Exams and quizzes track hw and lectures. Assigns a lot of hw but doesnt collect. gave a group quiz! If you have not done hw and sutdied lecture notes tests will be hard for you. If you are current with material you will do well in his class. i advice take him!
very helpful. friendly, great positive attitude. makes class fun. i havent taken a math course in over 8 years, and he made the transition very easy. highly recommended!
quizzes easy. tests hard if haven't dun hw and studied notes/examples. very responsive. gave a group quiz one time and extra cred. works for govt full time, relates real world applications to material; recommend
this professor explains things very well. he is clear and concise and gives alot of examples. if you try, you will do well. studying is needed. quizzes are easy, tests(2) are not. you need to know the material
this professory went through the material wayy to fast . he writes a lot of stuff on the board that doesnt even make sense. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I took his class during summer--although very fast (what do you expect in a 6-week session?), his instruction was very focused and clear. He answered questions clearly. His tests and quizzes were challenging, but VERY fair. I got it, and trig is not a strength for me. I wish he used calculator support more, though.
I would recommend this professor to anyone. Those who say he "wrote to fast"...or he "didn't make sense"...this is COLLEGE, not preschool. As long as you READ/STUDY the book and do your homework, you should do well in this class. Guaranteed. He definitely has a sense of humor...which makes the class fun!
I took him for MTH166. The class was so hard because the way he teaches i just dont get it. So, i have to spend so much time on my own to teach myself. I failed most of the quizzes and 1 test. He only gives mid-term and final. The class started from 39 and ended up at 13. Guess what?? he still passed me. Because i tried very hard. AWESOME..but hard
This is a 5 credit class, be prepared to do work. He is always willing to help, quizzes and exams are hard, homework is not graded, but I suggest you do it for your sake. Ask questions when you don't understand or else he will keep going. This is college people, can't expect someone to hold your hand all the way through.
yey group quiz tonight!!! thanks prof i really needed that!
Can?t sleep through his class, not HS anymore.Must stay current w/material. Challenging yes,but very helpful. Exams hard, but based on notes/HW. He expects you to work; is serious about you learning. Knows how to work hard/play hard gave 2 group quizs! Class style is witty, very open/interactive, & encourages questions;he is sweet & makes class fun!
you will be happy with this professor he is one of the best all around!
Great Professor! Love to have him in all my classes. He is very helpful, fair to everyone, and I learned alot from his real world experience.
cute, smart n witty. relates math to real life and makes learning fun. wants students to do well, have to work, will always do what he can to help you have to ask tho. rec him.
Please my bothers and sisters students don't take paldino especially in summer, you will regret it. He is sucks!
Please don't take class with him. He sucks
Worst Teacher in NOVA
Impressive speaker. Knowledgeable about a number of subjects in and outside of math. grades fair, but you must work to do well. very nice and wants you to succeed in course and career.
OMG i dont how this guy became a teacher. he does not teach anything. horrible teacher. i think he can be a good english teacher because he likes writing. he uses a book that he had when he was in college as a reference. please dont make the same mistake that i made. unless u wanna get a D or F.
Excellent prof! Writes alot, but explains alot too in detail until everyone gets it. Quiz problems were exact HW problems, midterm exam was easy since I did all the hw. You have to do HW and work a little to do well in his course, its not a free ride! this teacher is nice and helpful and will answer math questions over the weekend!
Great teacher! goes over concepts so everyone gets it. must ask questions or you get too far behind. tests are focused on inclass examples and hw. hw not collected, but you need to do it to pass his class. very responsive and will spend time with you if you ask for help. tests are challending but fair.
He is real nice & understanding professor, wants you to succeed- not easy A but you earn whatever grade you get with him. He allows you to think outside the box. I would take him again. Good professor but just be prepared to do work. He cares for his students and shows them the right direction in life. Take him you'll be glad you did.
I was in the same class w/the bitter person who last posted on 277; the class is what you put into it; get over yourself & do the hw/study/ask questions instead of being a sulky whiner. Prof Paldino is a very helpful, nice guy with a good sense of humor... he wants you to do well, but you have to work hard to learn the material & pass the class!
Professor substituted in my MTH 174 course and was definitely not impressed. I am scratching my head on why he is highly rated here since the lecture he gave us in class was all over the place. Highly recommend Colletti for any Calculus courses at NVCC.
mensa freak wonder boy prof Paldino computes triple integrals in his head, knows the material, WANTS you to do well. friendly, funny, makes class interesting, expects you to work-only way to fail is to put 0 effort, not studying/doing hw. Subject material is difficult, but prof P makes vector calc understandable; fair grader. VERY GOOD rec him!!!
Very nice guy, but I can't understand all the rave reviews. He doesn't teach; he races through the material as if students already know it and simply need a quick review. Either be prepared to teach yourself 100% from the textbook or find another instructor.
Unless you've already taken the course and simply need a review or to fill a degree requirement, STAY AWAY. This guy plows through the material -- it's difficult even to keep up with notetaking -- and forges ahead without teaching. He also gets sarcastic and embarrasses students who ask questions. I truly don't know why there are so many good co
I don't know what the person below me is talking about. Paldino is a great professor. His lecture notes are great. He moves quickly, but ALWAYS asks if you have questions before moving on. Has never been "sarcastic". I find him to be very helpful. His tests are very tough, but study and do homework and you'll be ok.
Disagree with the 11/11/10 comment; completely agree with 09/18/10. This guy flies through Calculus I as if it's a review class rather than an introductory course. I heard him speak sarcastically to several students on different occasions. He knows the material, but he should be doing math rather than trying to teach math.
This is the truth: The tests do not match the homework. There's never a reason to be cryptic with exam questions but his are cryptic. Don't know how I got a good grade. There are better teachers out there. Take one.
hes very helpful if you take the time to set up appt/meet w/him. its kinda hard to grasp the concepts in class because he speeds through the lesson material. however he makes himself available to meet evenings/weekends to review and answer questions. works for government full time during the day.
This teacher is very knowledgeable and helpful. If you pay attention and take notes, you are almost guaranteed an A. I did not even have the book and I aced this class. He hates rescheduling test though. He also makes several mistakes and I ended up correcting him 2-3 times per class. He is a good teacher but his class is a little boring.
the best professor in NOVA! If you are majoring in math or engineering, you need to take his class! he made me love math ! if you have questions, ask him after class! He always answers ! Cal 2 is not easy. you have to study! quizzes were easy! group quiz, take home quiz. tests are only from hw and notes.
He is one of the coolest Professor in NOVA. He explain concepts explicitly and quiz are similar to the Homework questions. I enjoyed his jokes w/c makes it a fun and an easy one if you do your part!! Do the homework and read the sections before hand and you're good to go. Highly recommended!!!
Prof. Paldino is one of the nicest professor in Nova. He made the class fun and easy class. He sees the efforts that students make and encourage students to participate. It's not an easy class but if you do the homework and read the section before class, you will succeed. I would def. take him again!!!
Take Paldino if you can; he's very intellegent, clear in his lectures, and always willing to answer questions. Funny and relaxed too. He tests what he teaches and grades fairly. Read the textbook and do the homework. Material is hard but paldino helps so much and is crystal clear. Would take him again.
I had this teacher for both 173 and 174 because i had no choice due to my work schedule and that was a bad choice..he flies thru the material fills board that he knock out a whole chapter in one class,,no attendance required and homework is not collected,,he is late returning exams and quizzes and may not return at all,he is cool and funny thou..
The best professor I've had at NOVA, and I had some good professors during my 8 years at NOVA with 2 associate degrees and several certificates. I had him for Diff Equation and Topics in Differential Equations classes. He is a very dedicated and understanding professor. He even came in on his days off to let me make up for the missed exams.
this guy was a G ! take his class :)
First off, let me say this class is easy. Professor Paldino is very smart and is a great teacher. He explains things very clearly and the quizzes and tests are from the exact material you would expect. Some of the stuff he is able to calculate in his head is ridiculous. One note: He is virtually always late to class!!!! Highly reccomended
He handwrites all the quizzes and tests right before class and takes the questions directly from homework. Homework isn't mandatory, its just for your own help. He's extremely smart and sometimes it's hard to follow along because he moves a little fast with lots of math terms but he's very helpful with questions
He's always late and the structure of his class is pretty unorganized. However, while not an easy class, he is the easiest professor you'll find for an upper level math course.
To be honest. Math is just hard regardless where you take it. I am the worst at math. I had a D the first time I took it with one professor. I sure got an A on this class. Just do homework. He gives evens which the answers are in the back so you will know if your answer is right. Then he uses the homeworks and puts it on the test!
College level math is difficult no matter what, so sorry Paldino you were screwed from the get go! However he is not only helpful but understanding. He has a great sense of humor and I don't think there is one student in the class that does not like him as a teacher. He is very smart and sometimes forgets you may not be, but overall very good!
Took his Vector Calculus course in the summer(6-week class). The homework was not graded or collected. The lecture was not easy to follow. The dim lighting and crowded classroom could be to blame; not the teacher's fault. Got tutoring before each class. I got a D for the course. Repeated the course with a different professor and got an A.
He explains things way too fast, so if you are looking for someone who waits and make sure you understand he is not that type. He will encourage you to ask question but noone asks
Thsi dude make more confuse than before. I have not learn a bit. I did my home work I studied hard but I end up getting D. Don't ask me why. I don't have no clue how he graded. You better find someone else. My case was that my schedule does not allow me to go over different prof.
Very cool / nice guy. He does teach fast but is knowledgable and lenient with grading. As long as you try hard and aren't annoying you will do fine.
He seems very nice. Really good sense of humor. I think the class was actually fun. Lots of homework. Its not graded but its to your benefit if you do it. I think he is a very lenient with grading which I appreciated! I took an 8 wk class so he does go fast. He is approachable and will help but i recommend adding Kahn or youtube to supplement!
Here's the thing. Prof. Paldino WAS helpful with answering math-related questions (via email only). The problem was, he opened class 2 days late. He was entirely absent online. Did not grade our work until multiple calls were put in to the school. This is unacceptable. Will not take MTH 152 or recommend this professor.
6 weeks in the summer. Easiest class EVER. To all you slackers like me looking for an easy A, sign up NOW. Test Quizs were exactly the same as the HW. only 6 weeks... SIGN UP.
He opened up the Blackboard Site late and I had to call the school to see why. He responded to emails VERY late in the semester. I never knew my grade until about two weeks before the final exam. Either than that it was an ok class but I would suggest to those people who are visual learners not to take this class.
easiest professor in higher level math course. recommended
nice guy!! take him
Great teacher, I really enjoyed the class, he kept a positive atmosphere during brutally long class sessions. Not too hard, not too easy. His priority is teaching you the essentials in the 6 week course. Cool guy.
He has a sense of humor, is up front about everything, and has an obvious passion for his material.
Be present always. Very cool teacher. Good grader. Do your Homework. Buy the book and the online homework code because you will never know when he gives a quiz, some are open book but that doesn't mean you shouldn't study. I didn't finish my class yet but I will be happy with any grade he gives me. I enjoyed his personality and sense of humour.
I took this class online in an 8 week session. ELI almost runs the instructions and the instructor's just there to answer any questions students come across. I just took my final today. I think I did okay. I should come out with a B average in the class. As far as the instructor, he is easy! I didn't have to put in that much effort in this class.
I took MTH 173 with him and am taking MTH 174 becuase Mr. Paldino is one of the greatest instructors. His character is really interesting and in teaching Math he deserves high recognition. The way he gave the material was very interesting and he was able to make the entire class be highly involved in the discussions. Really cool and funny guy.
This professor is tough. He doesn't write clearly on the board and he doesn't even explain clearly. He tells you what you should study and what questions will be on the test from the previous test but nothing is on the test. I don't why he assign sections and questions When he doesn't put it on the testfinal exam. Now I have to retake it :(
I took him for two semesters. 1st time he gave 2 tests and 6 pop-quizzes. The quizzes are basically attendance; they're really easy and he tells you what's on them. The tests were harder, but still stuff we'd done in class. 2nd semester it was just 3 tests; that was the only thing graded. Homework isn't graded and there's a lot, but it's vital.
Took 174 with him. Only 3 tests were graded, no hw no quizzes, although he assigns them. Questions on the tests are not that hard compared to other professors.
Professor Paldino is a great teacher and a profession in his field. The class was difficult, but if you put in the time and effort , getting an A won't be a problem in his class. Take good notes, do the homework, and review his material and you should be fine.
Exceptional Professor! Very passionate about his career. He's sarcastic which made the class lively, and is approachable when you need help. He wants his students to succeed. Take good notes on his lectures. Tells you what will be on exams. He is also a lenient grader. Gives multiple attempts for the online open notes quizzes, which were helpful.
If you're looking to retake a math class or get ahead in your math classes, this is the place you want to be. NVCC's online program is really hit or miss, and Professor Paldino is a homerun. Yes you will need to put in the extra hours to teach yourself, but Paldino is there to help you with any question (even at 3 am). His tests are very fair!
I have attended his online course, and throughout the semester he has not been able to respond to my emails... let alone answer any questions I had. I've had more communication with the Director of Mathematics than him.
I took this class online. There is a lot of homework. There are textbook problems along with problems he creates, so do not forgot those. There are three tests I took and they weren't too hard. The sections take a long time to understand and finish so set enough time to finish. Paldino had a clear grading criteria. Would take again.
ELI courses are designed to be hands-off, professor-wise. However, "Professor P" did not respond to my emails for over three weeks, despite following up with him multiple times. After finally getting him to respond the day before the class ended, he was rude and unapologetic. He's totally checked out.
Please do not take this Professor! He does my reply to emails on time, I took an online class, the only job he has to do it reply to a email. Yet it took him 48 hrs to do so, it was also an 8week course so I couldnt wait much. I dropped his class, so glad I did. DO NOT TAKE HIM PLEASE.
If you want a laid back professor, THIS IS NOT THE PROFESSOR. I am not exaggerating, please do not take this professor. I was so not ready for this course, Still have nightmares about it.
He is a very good professor, but it was his first time teaching MTH 154 for a hybrid class. He shows lots of demonstrations for Excel and uses textbook problems to work through. For exams, he discusses his expectations & the exam topics very clearly. He is also very understanding and generous because MyMathLab autograder sucks.
He basically took 3 weeks off starting by cancelling class an hour before we were supposed to take the midterm. Decided just not to show up one day, and occasionally formatted homework so 100% was physically impossible through the auto-grader. never really responded to emails, unclear lectures, wish I dropped before census. Huge waste of time and $
A very generous & understanding professor! Follows the textbook so you know what to expect if you miss class, & you can always email the him for points if you're mistakenly marked wrong by the online homework system. Gave us tons of extensions & retries on the homework & quizzes, & even goes over topics on the midterm & final unlike most professors
Very chill professor. As someone whose weakest subject has been math, he's one of the best teachers I've had for the class. We had a 2 hour block class, but only 1 ever ran that long. He'd let us go after about an hour and stay behind to help anyone who needed it. The online work is tedious and challenging, but not impossible. Highly recommend
I understand that this was an on line class & self taught. Took tests had questions about a section , sent screen shots , something was missing NOTHING no response. Did projects no fed back , just class average. no info , couldn't dispute a grade. People stopped asking question. no replies from him DO not take his class waste of money
Horrible Professor, never responded to my emails. I had to send the same email a few times to finally get a response a month later and he pretty much told me to drop the class. I dropped the class in fear of getting a F and then received another email from him after saying I could have done this and that and would have been ok. Such a shame
The best math Professor I've encountered in a long time! His directions are clear, he is very organized, and his response times are on point. His lectures are meaningful, and most importantly he guides you into understanding math! Do your assignments, attend lecture, and you will be on the right track for an A.
The class was pretty much expected though many activities (not in MyLab) had unclear insturctions. Professor was not very responsive and did not communicate well with the class. He also constantly changed pretty much every due date which is nice to get extra time but confuses the class when he doesn't talk to us! I'd choose another prof...
Zero contact with students even after repeated emails. Unclear assignments and instructions and he hasn’t graded a single assignment in a month. The course ended and then class was removed off of canvas without a final grade. The material is already difficult enough but we had to not only teach ourselves but also try to interpret the rubrics
I took MTH154 as an online course with no meetings. He was straight to the point of what needed to be done and when. The projects could have used some more detail description of what needed to be done. For an online course this is a good simple teacher straight to the point. Everything we did was open book.
Professor does not communicate with class or grade ANY assignments. I’m approaching the last date to withdraw and none of my assignments have been graded. He also does not seem to know the subject matter given how he has no lectures or anything. It is only an online textbook.
He did not grade any assignments before the drop date (this means we got no feedback on our quizzes before the first test, so went into that test blind). He did not respond to emails until after the drop date and after several students reached out to the deans.
Snarky, dismissive attitude. Enormous, illegible handwriting on the virtual whiteboard. Redundant lectures provided no useful information; the textbook was more informative. Managed class time poorly. Did not provide midterm grades before the final exam despite many false assurances of their upcoming release. Did not respond to emails.
Didn't release grades in a timely manor. Didn't really get much from the lectures. Not very communicative in emails, or will just not reply. He gives an outline of the sections covered on the tests and how many questions there may be. He also extended all due dates to the last day of class. Biggest fault was the lack of communication.
The instructor was unprofessional during the lectures by being consistently discourteous, occasionally unclear in his delivery, and presented a snarky attitude. The grading process for the course has been very slow, with the midterm grades taking almost 3 weeks out of the 6-week course to be returned. His tests are heavy-weight and impact heavily.
Online summer course was taught by the textbook and WebAssign homeworks. The recorded examples do a good job explaining problems, but not as easy as in-person. Grades mainly dictated by 3 exams and 7 quizzes. He is terrible at grading in a timely manner. I got each test grade about 2 weeks after each test, the second of which a day before my final.
Bad person doesn't care about anything and never responds. He should not be a teacher.
dont take lmaoo
if you aren't that good at the subject I wouldn't pick this professor. He over explains things making them more hard to understand. exams are 50% of your ENTIRE grade, meaning even if you do all your homework and discussions and participate in class if you're a bad test taker you won't pass.
cool dude but tried to give me an academic violation for something i didnt do wouldnt recommend if you dont like really really long lectures
I took this class online so I didn't really expect the professor to every involved. But man, this guy couldn't grade in a timely manner even if his life depended on it. He hasn't graded anything in over two weeks, and this is an 8 week course. I took my last exam without knowing what I got on the one before it. Literally no idea what my grade is.
DO NOT TAKE, Never responded to a single email had no idea if i was passing or failing until the last day, i've gotten a A in every math class i've ever taken before this but this dude gave me a F. Idk what this dudes problem.
late 20-40 minutes to class over 80% of the time, only reads off of the textbook during lectures and notes are word for word from the textbook. prof is nice but its hard to learn in such little time and theres little to do during lecture days besides just copy down the notes on the board as no individual problems are assigned/given during lectures
This guy really just doesn't care. Doesn't grade exams in a timely manner. And has the homework is crazy. Doesn't respond to emails no matter how important it is.
AVOID THIS GUY! Get ready to have tons of homework, no feedback from your tests, grades tests months after, no study guides, and no answers to your emails.
This Professor had A LOT of homework. I took his online 154 class so I wasn't too shocked when there were so many assignments. However, he never responded to emails. If this had been an in person or even a zoom course, it would've been fine but for an online course it's unacceptable. I do not recommend him. If you can take another professor, do it.
I took his class completely online, expect to have no response to any emails or attempts to reach him. There were on average 3 homework assignments a week and 1 quiz for the 7 week online course, really not too much. It's unclear if the Prof. graded any open ended questions on homework or quizzes, by the last week of class they'd yet to be graded.
AVOID THIS PROFESSOR. They never responded to emails, gave no test feedback, and only entered grades at semester's end. The workload was overwhelming, with tons of homework. Tests required detailed written answers, and you had to submit photos of your work. No MCQ's. Overall, very frustrating.
Great at explaining concepts and briefly reviews highschool concepts before working them into course-level lectures. Loves a tangent. Loves the stock market. Overall very endearing and not a tough grader. Also the final/midterm were like 10 questions each. Very clearly outlines what will be on quizzes and the midterm/final.
Consistently 30 minutes late to class, as if our time wasn't valuable. The workload was excessive. When I asked questions, he redirect me to my teammates rather than explaining concepts himself. His lectures felt more like reciting what he knows rather than trying to help students truly understand. Honestly, I relied on YouTube throughout semester.
The professor had a specific teaching style, but if you engage with it, the class can be worthwhile. unstuckstudy and the free textbook were helpful for study prep. Stay focused and you can do well.
Every lecture since the first day of class has been confusing. I usually just attend the lecture and ignore what he says and review the material in the textbook on my own later. The lectures feel disorganized and straight from the book, a true lack of proper clarification on things too. I wouldn't recommend him if you aren't a good learner.
I took MTH 267 through NOVA Online.Late assignments aren't accepted and no practice exams are provided. The course requires a high level of self-motivation. NOVA also uses AI tools to detect academic dishonesty on platforms like Discord, even masked IP addresses can be traced. Some students were caught sharing exam questions on Discord.
Seemed like the course was already created. Professor is unaware of existing policies, creating confusion between what's stated in the exam instructions vs what he says. Lecture videos are good, but occasionally incomplete (practical application lessons). 2 business day email response time is tough with the course's fast pace but understandable.
The professor as a person is nice, but for teaching he's terrible, always late but not by over 10 minutes, his lectures are unprepared and straight out of the textbooks. He rushes through material and doesn't explain much. Lot of outside studying is needed just to keep up
Terrible professor, studied everyday, terrible teacher, large amount of assignments extremely difficult to keep up.
