Great teacher! Funny guy, likes telling stories about weird situations he's been in to entertain the class. He enjoys learning something new from all his students. Will definitely help you write killer essays. If you are ever lost, he will guide you through everything. I've learned so many great tips in writing a good college essay from him (:

Potts is the chillest teacher I have met so far. The conversations in class were mind blowing. Be prepare to open your imagination and don't be discouraged by his hard writing standards. He grades harshly for your own good. Definitely take his class if you actually want to learn how to become a better writer.

One of the best professors I have had. He wants to make writers out of each and everyone of his students. He will help you out if you need it just go to office hours. Lets you re-do some of the essays and turn them in by finals to get a better grade. awesome professor.

This class was the BEST English class that I've had on campus thus far. When you ask for help, YOU GET IT! He takes his time in office hours even if others are waiting. He gives you the grade that you deserves. He comes at writing from a different. Try writing a narrative with an implied (unstated) thesis....

Potts is truly a great professor, he really does care for his students to learn. Make sure you try to engage in discussion, he finds that very important and it's very relevant in his class. He's also a pretty tough grader, but he really does help you when it comes to writing. I found his class very interesting, you really do learn A LOT.

Going into Professor Potts's class I did not expect much, he inspired me to excel in my academics. This course will not be easy if you don't attendpay attention in class (he rarely takes role). If you put minimal effort in the class you can pass with at CB, he challenges you to excel and strive: he does this through essays and other assignments.

All I can really say is wow. He was a real amazing professor I've had in my only two years of attendance at CSUDH. He is probably the only one so far that has really taught well. He is very clear on what he wants on his assignments. He likes to tell stories sometimes and he is very inspirational. Would recommend. He's not bad to the eyes either (:

The English gods sent Potts to teach at CSUDH. He is one of the best. He cares so much about his students. I will say he is a tough grader but with good reasons. He gives phenomenal feedback. It really does help. He lets students revise 2-3 essays and if you're good, he will let you revise them all. So helpful during office hours. He is pretty hot

Professor Potts is the best professor to take for ENG 350. All his essays are in class essays and he gives out a midterm and times you like the GWAR/GWE. He gives the best tips and advice to prepare you for the GWE/Co-Comp . His essays are challenging, but it's okay he lets you revise your essays. He is so caring. He truly wants you to succeed.

Alot of people complain about Potts tough grading. I'm horrible with English and I ended up as his top student. At times he could offend you in ways but he's very funny. I learn different types of writing and I improved in my essays. Pop culture was very interesting to learn in his class. Take this class if you want a challenge.

Professor Potts is the best professor to take for ENG 350. He really helped me improve my writing and gave me confidence. He gives lots of advice and tips to prepare you for the Co-Comp . I loved his class! He really understands and appreciates your writing. We did have a a lot of essays but they were all fun to write because we used different styles. We also were able to decide on what exacly we wanted to talk about!

Potts is the best teacher I have ever had. He is obviously very familiar with his subject and teaches it very well and is just a really nice guy. The class is somewhat difficult, as he expects a lot from the essays, but he works with you to make sure they're what he's looking for. If you put in the work, you will do well.

Professor Potts made ENG 350 easy and always asked the class if they have any questions/concerns. He gave students the opportunity to be creative in his essays. You can even revise the essay based on his remarks he writes on them and resubmit it to get a better score. The prompts arent hard & they dont have to be super long either.

He's really chill and funny and loves to help you as long as you show that you care. He doesn't give more than necessary work and his grading scale is quite easy. He's easy to work with.

Potts was hard but towards the end he was an amazing professor. I got an A and honestly it's really easy as long as you put dedication into your essays. People tend to complain but honestly they're just lazy. Trust me I suck at writing but all he wants is dedication into your essays, that's it! Take him you won't regret it!

Potts is an amazing professor, he cares about his students. He gives extra credit, and allows for up to 2 re-writes. He is accessible after class and through e-mail if you need help with papers or just to bounce ideas off him. The writings are interesting, as well as the readings he had us do.

One of the best professors I've met at DH. The work can be a load but if you get it done in the time that is given, you will be able to pass the class. Being in a pandemic, he was very understanding and was communicating with his students. 100% would recommend.

Potts was amazing. It was his first time teaching Children's literature but I really enjoyed his class. There is a lot of reading but the texts are not bad. We always discuss what we read in class so you can add notes to your reading log. I recommend doing your reading logs and readings because you will need it for midterm and 2 writing pieces.

took this professor for literature and popular culture, it was a decent class. Be prepared to READ and you must keep up with the readings! Attendance is necessary. There were two big papers Midterm and Final! You can find all the books online!!! A few articles to read but overall as long as u read the material you'll be fine.

Potts has been one of the best English professors I've ever had. You're only graded by 4 essays, two of which are just going over the reading log he assigned. He loves when the class participates in the group discussions so make sure you read what he gives you. It was a very relaxed class and he had very interesting lectures.

Such a great professor! It is a pleasure to have him as a professor in Dominguez hills and I advice that if you have a chance you should take him! So understanding towards his student both and tries his best to be helpful. Truly a great experience in his class :)

He is an eccentric and very inspirational professor with such a kind spirit. DO NOT let the haters stray you away from his wonderful personality. Don't get me wrong his class is difficult and you will have to read a lot, however, if you pay attention and don't procrastinate you will be just fine. Test are based on lectures so take notes. :p

Very organized syllabus. My writing skills have been strengthened after taking this course. He provides all reading materials- NO need to buy a book! I appreciated that assignments were open for resubmission for a better grade. Visit the writing center, read assignment instructions carefully and follow them!!! you will pass the class.

I had him for ENG 108-09, and I think that he's the best English professor out there. He's funny, attentive and caring. He only gives out about 5 assignments per semester but they are helpful in the real world. Just keep track of them if you plan on taking him. Participation matters for his class, and always come with the material read! Good luck!

Super funny and chill dude as you get to know him. You only get 4 papers the whole semester and unlimited resubmissions. Very easy to get an A as long as you follow the rubric and it's clear you're trying. Don't use chatgpt though because he will know and fail you. He caught a few people that did. Just try and you'll be good. Go to office hours too
