He manages to make botany seem interesting. He's funny and enjoys making jokes. He's a really good teacher, I recommend him to everyone. If you can't afford books you don't really need it for this class since most of his test questions come from the lectures which are most often posted on blackboard

Dr. Randle is a great teacher, I would definitely recommend him to anyone. Botany, isn't as easy as most people think! The final is so easy that you can almost get all C's on you're lecture exams and still come out with a B! If I were you I would worry more about the lab than randle's lecture courses.

Above average professor in quality but not excellent. His tests are moderate in difficulty but you'll pass if you at least try. Highly recommend.

Great Teacher! Really clear and a little funny. He does tend to go through the slides a little quickly, but he will slow down if you ask. You don't really have to have the book as long as you pay attention and take notes in class. Tests are fairly easy if you study. Highly Recommended!

He is a great prof. He makes his lectures fun and entertaining with side stories and videos. Take notes in class and look over the powerpoint presentations he posts and you will do fine.

Very easy professor. LOVES his job and is very funny. Always has great stories. Test questions come STRAIGHT from the powerpoints which are posted on blackboard. Definitely take him.. he's good.

He is a good guy. He tries to crack jokes during class. Botany is very boring, but he tries to make it as interesting as possible. The tests aren't extremely hard, but if you don't study, you might fail. He never gives us homework or anything. And he posts all of his slideshows on blackboard.

Very cool professor. Has a true passion for this subject and makes it interesting by using funny examples. Didn't use the book much since his test or mostly off the powerpoints he posts up in class. Loved that he posted up powerpoints, since attendance wasn't madatory, so that way i was able to keep up on my own. Test were pretty easy. highly recom

Chris is easy to talk with after class and is a really funny guy. I would drink a beer with him! only buy the book for the lab.

Prof Randle was awesome! made it fun and pretty easy. attendance wasnt mandatory and he posted all his lectures online. tests came directly from his lectures so you dont really need the book. he gives extra credit for every test, the final is questions from each test. study that and you'll be fine. beware of the lab though, HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Dr. Randle is an extremely helpful teacher. He loves his subject and is more than willing to teach if you are willing to learn. His lectures are funny and he puts his lecture pdfs online.

Great professor will teach you what you need to know in botany, tries to keep it interesting even when you are falling asleep. Go to class if you don't want to fail, read the book, and do your "study buddy" you will need it. Good luck he's easy if you want him to be but don't take this lightly.

This man made me become a biology major... with plants. He's full of awesome stories and is without doubt a certifiable genius! Don't take him unless you're willing to become completely enthralled!

Dr. Randle is the Bomb Dot Com!!! Tests come from powerpoint material which he gives on blackboard. Very enthusiastic and keeps you interested in what more or less would be a boring class. Need text book for lab!!! You are dumb if you do not take him for Botany!!

Amazing teacher ! Really motivated and loves his job. He uses a lot of nerd humor and likes to envolve the class. He will ask you questions but always makes you feel smart and valuable. Very helpful and easy to talk to , great sense of humor!

Awesome teacher

Randall is easily the best teacher I've ever had. He's a big geek and will relate a bunch of material to nerd humor and generally makes sure that everything is really interesting. If you don't take him for Botany you are really missing out.

He was overall a great teacher. His power points were clear and to the point. His tests were a little tricky but he drops the lowest test. The final is literally word for word questions from previous tests (which he gives us with the correct answers). Ended up with a solid B. I would take him again because of his pure passion he has for teaching

Very helpful Instructor. I would not recommend him if you are not very knowledgeable when it pertains to Biology with plants. The study buddies help but the workload to study for is large. Be prepared to work as a upper classmen level because that is what it is like.

i took him for botany, and he is seriously the easiest professor, i've ever had! He post all the power points online and gives you weekly quizzes online straight off the power points and he gives you reviews for the test straight off the power points, so basically just study the power points!

Great teacher! Very enthusiastic about Botany. Loves what he does and it shows when he teaches. The class is hard to get into if it isn't your thing, but overall great teacher.

Taking this class single handedly revolutionized my college experience. His lectures were genuinely interesting not just for bio majors, but for non majors as well. I have never spoken to a single student who disliked his class. He's a very approachable professor and definitely cares about his students. He comes highly recommended for a reason.

I read and re-wrote notes, did the review and studied a LOT, and still made 60s-70s on all of his tests!! Half of the information on "terms" is something he said in the middle of a sentence. The tests are so much harder than review!! He says he'll help but he never did. If you take him I would recommend getting notes from someone that's had him.

When I was looking for a professor for this course all I wanted was a teacher that was a "work hard and you will get the grade". Honestly, Randle is exactly that. I have gone to every single lecture and studied many hours for the 4 exams and I think I will pull an A borderline B. Highly recommended for the student who is willing to work for it.

I HATE biology, but Dr. randle makes it very interesting. His love for Botany shows in his lectures which really makes the class more enjoyable. He is willing to help in his office hours and responds very quickly to e-mails as well. I would highly recommend taking him.

Professor Randle gives Botany a whole new meaning. I am not a science person, let alone a Botany person. I thought I was going to do horribly, but everything you need to know on any exam is given to you. He's hilarious. He is an educator. I loved his course. I would take him again, for sure.

Botany was not my first choice of classes, but he is very passionate about what he does. He has a very clear and deep understanding of the field in general, and explains things very well. He will work with you as long as you communicate with him. He makes this class INTERESTING and FUN. He welcomes and answers questions throughout lectures.

A great professor, I would take him again if I could. He's hilarious & tests aren't too bad as long as you study & attend the supplemental instruction meetings(kind of like a study group). He is always open to questions & overall a great teacher. Made a boring subject fun.

Gives fast paced but very intellectually stimulating lectures which go along with the exams and will review the exam with you if you go into his office and ask (highly recommended because the class does build on itself and you'll want to know what you need work on). Exams get harder as the course progresses.

He is a great professor. He really made me love plants. He loves what he does and is super helpful. Answers emails pretty fast. A lot of work But it's easy and helps your grade. Go to class, go to si and study and you will be fine.

The test are pretty hard; however, there are SI sessions which are very helpful and are said to increase your grade by an entire letter. His test are also taken from what he talks about in lectures so attending is pretty important. He is an awesome teacher and makes sure everyone has an understanding of the topic and he's very funny.

Professor Randle is a very good and EASY teacher(take him)! Everything that he puts in his power-points will be on the exams and he even sends you the power-points at the end of the day. You don't even need to show up if you don't want!

here's the thing. He is a FANTASTIC professor. But only for SCIENCE MAJORS. do not take this class if you are a non-science major or you don't do well in science courses. this class was almost impossible for me, and very term heavy. there is some redemption built into the class with little weekly quizzes but I would recommend an easier science clas

Dr. Randle is an excellent professor and is very enthusiastic about Botany and plants in general. if he doesn't have the answer for you he will find it and get back to you. he truly loves teaching and it shows. I would definitely take him again!

Take molecular with Randle. I learned a lot without cramming and freaking out. Randle takes a common-sense approach to teaching and a lot of that involves encouraging his students to explore topics in molecular biology they like. He cares about making sure you're prepared to be a good scientist. Seriously, just take molecular with Randle.

He is a good teacher, his test is based on his lectures so showing up is encouraged but not mandatory, funny man so he can keep your attention but his test arent easy, i studied hard but have only gotten C's

Loved his class! He's very passionate about Botany and it shows in his lectures. His exams are based entirely from his lectures (which he posts on Blackboard) and he gives opportunities for easy grades if you just do the work. I'll definitely take his genetics course

Dr. Randle was technically my first professor here at SHSU, and he has without a doubt set the bar high. Botany can sometimes get pretty boring, but he kept it interesting by encouraging class participation and walking around the room whilst teaching. If you take BIOL1411 I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Randle, you will NOT regret it.

Amazing professor and truly cares about his students. If you don't understand something, go to his office hours. My letter grade went from a C to a B and he gives you study tips while your there.

Harder class, good professor!

Botany can be a snooze but he makes it fun and easy to learn. One of the best professors out there.

Dr. Randle is an excellent professor. The textbook is only needed for the lab not for the class. He posts his notes and the tests come straight from the notes.

Great Botany Professor. Take him if you have the chance! He gives great lectures. If you skip his class it will be harder to make sure you know all the material that will be covered on his test, but he does posts power points.

TBH I quickly realized that a lot of the material for Botany was stuff I already knew from previous courses, so I only went to class on the days we had a test and I made a B. Granted the lab was factored into that grade, but the class wasn't hard at all.

I had Dr. Randle before the pandemic. He is very organized and knows what he is talking about. I probably would have done better in his class if I went to more lectures. He does require packback questions and answers (HW THAT COSTS MONEY). Regardless, the other botany professor actually wants to fail u and is apparently a nutcase , so take Randle

Although I did get a C in this course, that is solely because of the lab, Dr. Randle's Botany lecture class is very interesting and he is such a caring and intriguing professor. He has definetly made learning about plants bearable this semester.

My favorite professor this semester. This class is not super hard although you do need to pay attention to the lectures because his tests are lecture heavy. He emails back super quick and is very nice. Gives extra credit opportunities. I would take him again if I could so I highly recommend Professor Randle! He truly cares about his students.

I love this professor! He cares about his students and will literally try his best to accommodate you. Weekly quizzes and discussion posts, but pretty easy if you understand the material. Make sure you study the lecture material and quizzes as it's what he uses to make the exams. He's very chill. Super easy class!

Professor Randle is the best professor I've ever had I'm so glad I got him for my first semester as a freshman. He answers your questions simplified to help you understand and really cares about his students. He has been teaching for a long while so he keeps students engaged and is a professor you can sometimes relate to.

He was one of the most interesting lecturers, especially for an online class. He is super funny and makes botany less boring, as well as interesting. He gives great feedback and tries to know his students. He gives quizzes and participation grades, as well, through a weekly question/answer.

I can't express how amazing this professor is. I usually don't rate but I had to. Watch his lecture videos, do the study buddy, and packback. All of that, and you will definitely pass his class. Everything he discussed in his videos came out in the exams. Although, a few students complained, he genuinely was amazing to me!

I took Dr. Randle's Botany class in Fall 2020. All of his lectures were online but he made sure to have a guest with him so they were fun to watch and easy to pay attention to. Quizzes every week but those quiz questions were on the test! There is A LOT of material to get through but if you put in the work, you will be fine! Take his classes!

I actually really liked this class. I'm not a science person, but Professor Randle made his lectures interesting and engaging. What's difficult is the lab, so prepare to be very confused unless you really understand botany. I'd take the class again if I didn't have to take the lab. He responds to emails really quickly and is always kind.

I had Professor Randle for Botany and he is amazing, please keep in mind that he does not give his powerpoints before class so come up with the perfect note taking technique for you to catch up! He is super understanding and if you need something for sure don't hesitate to reach out! 20/10 would recommend, the textbook is not required but it helps.

I loved this class! Professor Randle is very dedicated to his field of study and loves sharing his knowledge with the students. He actively engages in questions and conversation in class about whatever plant topic we are on. Do all the assignments even though they seem tedious, they can help a lot in keeping a good grade.

Dr. Randle is first and foremost an awesome lecturer, and hilariously entertaining. Lectures were not mandatory, but I always went. Now for the difficulty score... this was a Contemp. Biol class for non-bio majors... and it was horribly difficult. His tests were some of the hardest I've taken, and I'm a senior. You must study hard to even pass.

Dr. Randle does well in walking students through his slides and his humor makes it easier to stay engaged and participate in class. He uses a variety of examples, learnable diagrams, and on occasion provide past recorded lectures to ensure that his students understand the material. While he is a tough grader, he gives partial credit when possible.
