I would highly recommend taking psyc 150 with him. He was extremely helpful and a nice person!
This was my 2nd time taking this class and this was WAAAYY better than the first class I had.
Great teacher, funny guy. Tests were pretty straight forward. he didn't use the textbook at all. He relates with students well, because he is younger. Really laid back class.
awesome teacher, hes really funny, takes an interest in how you are doing. he remembers you. if you ask for help hes really accommodating. 1st sem. i was talking about counting down to my birthday because we have a festival at home my birthday weekend, and a week before my birthday (2nd sem.)he was walking beside me and we talked about my plans
Perfect class.
He is a wonderful teacher. His class is not too challenging, yet you learn a ton. Professor Redker has helpful examples and goes out of his way to make sure you learn the material. If you get an option, take him! It will be the best decision you make.
Dr. redker is an amazing teacher for pyschology. He always lets you know what is expected of you. His class consists of notes and a quiz each week. The quizes are straight from the notes. This is an easy A-B class.
Awesome prof, very helpful and he is very into what he's teaching and gives real world examples to make sure you understand. If you take this course, get this prof!
Fabulous professor! Ill recommend him to anyone! lots of notes, but easy to follow. Gives great examples. Has weekly study sessions for quizzes. If you have to take this class i strongly suggest taking his class.
Is NOT helpful outside of class at all. Is not invested in his students at all. So long as you don't miss class you'll be fine.
OK, this course was very tough but I have to say that professor redker was great to have as a teacher! He was willing to help me with questions outside of class/in his office. I think he is the only one that has taught it lately and you should be glad!
HARD. For a 100 level class he speaks/teaches like it is a 300 level class, he spent 12 years in college & is VERY intellegant & expects you to be the same-HARD teacher, challenges you.
He is a wonderful guy. The class not too difficult if you put some effort into it. Each week there are 2 lectures and a quiz and no tests. The final is optional as well. He also holds a review session before each quiz. He makes the class very interesting with great examples. He loves what he is doing and wants you to love it too.
He was a great professor, especially in a hard class. And he's not too bad to look at :)
I don't mean to say chris redker is a bad guy , because he is a good man. But the man will preach about things one way but when he gives grades he will nit pick on EVERYTHING. Get on his good side, he is a subjective man trying to be objective in his grading. The grading scale is his biggest problem.
Taking notes is the most important part of class. He's kind of a spazz about stuff in the book, but usually only uses one of two questions from the book on the tests. Tests are 50 multiple choice and are easy if you read over notes but some questions are worded weird. Overall a good teacher and easy to understand
Dr. Redker is one of the best teachers in the world. His class is all about studying and memorization. He goes over everything that will be on the test and if not, the prior stuff will help lead you to the right answer. Class is somewhat dry and he admits that too, but he examples, easy to follow instructions, will get you a good grade. TAKE HIM!
I believe that Doctor Redker is the absolute best teacher ferris' psychology program has to offer as far as teaching is concerned. His grading scale could be a problem for some, but it is a hard class and you need to work for your grade. Great professor, but not an easy class.
In my six semesters at Ferris I have never disliked a teacher. However, as a diligent text book reader and note taker Redker sincerely offended me in his class. He is rude, and sometimes insulting to students. And god forbid you have an old edition of the textbook.
Tricky test questions. good teacher cares about students.will go over same thing 15 times if needed to make everyone understand it. passionate!
A really great professor. He really makes the material understandable. It's a tough class, but he teaches it well. He's very helpful and will break things down until every single person understands it. Don't be afraid to ask questions; he enjoys that as he's very passionate. He knows what he's talking about & really does help makes things clear.
Overall i would say that he is a good teacher. However you really have to pay attention and read the book. He does not like to go over material so read ahead of time and also ask for help.
This class is really hard. You have to have a great understanding of research methods in order to pass. Read the book and ask for help if you need it because he does not like to repeat himself.
He is passionate about social psych. Dr. Redker is great, though. He answers any questions, either in or out of class. It is hard, but just read and ask questions and DO THE STUDY QUIZZES. They really help a lot. Overall, I would definitely recommend him.
Great Professor, quizzes can be difficult if you don't go to class and read the textbook. But they're 20 questions, multipule choice. His lectures are interesting. And he's always willing to help if you're motivated to get help.
I found this class extremely difficult. I studied for the quizzes and still did not do well. I also attended the group study sessions. The quizzes were extremely difficult.
AWESOME TECHER BUT WAYYY too HARD FOR ME . I thought psyc would probably make me understand human nature better , but this went way over my head . Plus the quizzes were wayyy to hard according to my standards.I had a hard time even passing through this course.
I really enjoyed this class. I could tell how passionate he was with his work and that made me want to learn more. I was definitely expecting this class to be more difficult than it actually is. The quizzes are twenty questions and multiple choice. If you study the material, than you will do great. I would definitely take another of his classes.
Must go to class test grades are all that count
This course was not an easy one but I found his lectures to be very interesting. The comment below is not true about your grade only based on tests. There is also a journal assignment that is turned in at the end of the semester.
Wow. This guy is a piece of work. Really pompous and pretentious. Talks way over your head. Attendance isn't mandatory under his guidelines, but if you miss one or two days in a week, you're screwed on his impossible quizzes. Hope you like reading!!
Professor Redker is funny and great! I've taken 150 and 210 with him and he's totally interested in the class and how students are doing. Highly recommend taking his classes.
Dr. Redker does what he can to help students without giving them grades when they don't work. Attendance to class will help a lot. Reading the book is a good idea, but not completely mandatory on every subject covered. I very much liked his class.
He cares a lot about his students and is pretty helpful. Tests are kind of hard. I had him for Stats so the actual work sucked but he made lecture somewhat interesting.
ALL LECTURE, BUT TESTS ARE ABOUT BOTH LECTURE AND BOOK MATERIAL. SHOW UP TO CLASS AND YOU SHOULD DO WELL. OFFERS EXTRA CREDIT IF YOU PARTICIPATE IN ONE OF HIS STUDIES AND LETS YOU TAKE OPTIONAL FINAL TO REPLACE YOUR 2 LOWEST TEST SCORES. GRADE IS BASED ON 6 TESTS AND A BRIEF JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT. HE'S MORE THAN WILLING TO HELP IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE
Dr Redker great professor He is definitely willing to help you in preparing for tests. You will need to keep up with the readings and show up ready to discuss the information.
Good teacher, tries to make sure you understand. I HATE his tests, they are worded in a way that is very confusing. He uses double negatives and awkwardly written story questions. If he could just write clear concise test questions it would be an easy A
Dr. Redker is a great professor and lectures off of PowerPoints, to which he follows along with the book for the most part. You MUST attend class, as he goes over various studies and discusses things outside of the textbook, which does appear on the tests. Overall, if you give effort, you will walk out with a decent grade.
This class is one of the hardest classes in the Psych program, be prepared to do lots of work! There's 4 exams, and the final is optional, which you can take and replace your lowest exam grade. This class is all notes, it's a lot of vocabulary that will leave you with questions. Then there's a research proposal that you work on all semester.
I love him as a professor!!!! I would take him as many times as I could. His class isn't hard if you listen to his lectures and attend office hours if there is a issue. He is very helpful, so he wouldn't mind helping anyone. He's great!
Dr. Redker was my favorite professor ever. He's extremely caring, always making sure the material is understood, and is very accessible outside of class. Textbook helps for some readings, but most of the exam Q's are in his lectures/PP's. He makes it easy to pass if you just show up and try. He knows every students name and really cares about them.
Attendance is not mandatory, but it makes the tests a lot easier. His lectures aren't boring, and he gets to know everyone in the class and cares about them. Easy to talk to. Really passionate about what he's teaching. Uses real life examples to teach. Strictly follows the syllabus, and never surprises you. I plan on taking his classes again.
Very good teacher
Tough grader, not always clear with what he is asking for. Test are hard, be prepared to read the chapters more then once. Likes to give long written out questions on test, where one or two words can trip you up and causes you to pick the wrong answer. I would not recommend anyone to take his classes. If you can avoid his class then I would
This course was pretty difficult but I expected it to be. My experience was that if you read his book before lectures you will be able to handle it. Seek his help outside of class with the proposal project. He really helped me with that.
By far the best online class Ive taken. Dr Redker organized the material very well and clearly communicated assignment deadlines, expectations, etc. The discussion boards are a way of gaining extra credit.
Dr. Redker cares about his students & wants them to succeed. He provides all the necessary tools to understand the material. Best online class I've taken. Posts great lectures & gives additional resources. Very organized. Take this course seriously & put in the time, it's useful info for life in general. Great class, great prof. Highly recommend!
Great professor! He gives 7 tests throughout the semester; one every two weeks. The final exam is optional, and it replaces your two lowest grades. He is a very understanding and caring professor. He loves to see students get involved. Also, reading the book before lecture is highly recommended.
Really knows what he's talking about! You definitely have to be able and ready to put in the effort and really pay attention to his lectures, but he sticks true to his words and his exams are typically only 40 questions.
Attendence is not required, however you won't pass if you don't go. Hardest class in the psych program by far. Many students in my class are on their second or third time taking the class. Is a 200 level but harder than any 400 level I've taken.
It's an easy A if you study from the slides and go to his office hours. Feel free to ask questions. I was scared of the presentation but he calmed me down. He cares about his students a lot and helps with everything as long as you ask. He inspired me to work harder in the program. I've had him for two classes now and he's my favorite prof by far.
Extremely precise questions on tests, hard to even find in the book after the test
This class is really cats the hardest class i have ever taken. All exams and 1 actual assignment. We need more chances for assignments because its hard with just exams . IF you dont go to class you will fail. So stressful .
Good class and professor! It was fairly challenging but if you stay on track you can do well. I struggled from the start but redker helped me get on the right track. Most of his lectures are really interesting.
This was class was a challenge but it ended up being my favorite class of the semester. Dr. Redker is very helpful and you should plan on using his help! You will also need to study a lot for the exams. They cover a 50/50 mix of lecture and his textbook.
I took this class online this past summer, and instantly I regretted it so much. Dr. Redker was horrible, not giving us anything besides the textbook. The exams are basically your grade. They are only 40 questions and nearly impossible. Get ready to read and study A LOT. Avoid if possible. There are many easier professors to take.
This guy is awesome. Great lectures and great class.
One of the best psychology professors. Tests can be hard, but if you read his book and attend class and study, youll do fine. He curves exams based on other students grades, which is great. Nice, helpful, funny. Would take his class again. Such a knowledgeable prof and a great resource.
Don't take this online, it's AWFUL. Take this class face to face. You are given just a book and very few excercises that are supposed to help master the material but they don't at all. You teach yourself with just the book. Tests are VERY hard and you have to be in view of the camera with a headset on and lockdown browser. A HEADSET seriously!?
This class online is extremely difficult. The tests make up for 72% of your grade, and the exams are tough. He does not give any study guides and his recorded lectures are uselss. Feels like I'm being set up for failure. I would NEVER recommend this teacher for online psych 101. May have to drop this class and try another professor.
While Dr. Redker is very qualified, he has not tailored his course to being online. Exams are quite challenging & comprise 75% of your grade with all other assignments being very minimal. Lectures are supplementary, & personally, did not help me prepare for any of the four exams. If fully online, I highly rec taking this with another professor.
Ive taken a few classes online and this was one of the better ones, in terms of structure and interest. It was demanding because exams cover a lot of topics. You can take a 2nd version of each exam to replace the 1st and so it helps. Theres easy extra credit you can earn.
He is one of the worst professors I have ever had. He would not tell me my grade because of psychological reasons and exams are the only grade in that class. You have to be in lockdown browser and will probably fail them if you do not have a really good memory and can remember everything that comes out of his mouth. I do not recommend.
I appreciated the approach taken because of covid. Prof was very easy to work with. I would have liked to take a class with him in person!
This course was not too hard, but it required a lot of independent reading and study time. Weekly quizzes and 4 exams during the semester, no cumulative final. Discussion boards for extra credit.
Good class just a lot of topics which means a lot of studying. I would take this professor again.
Amazing online course for my busy schedule. Loved the long time periods to do assignments. Never felt rushed and the two attempts for tests saved my grade. No complaints, would take him again.
My favorite class and professor this semester. I found most topics interesting and his lectures were great.
Professor Redker made class fun and entertaining. Every lecture I sat through was engaging and there wasn't a class period I went through without chuckling from his sense of humor. He gave students many opportunities to ask questions and was very good at reiterating anything students needed. Great professor.
Grades rely almost completely on test scores (7 exams and 1 additional assignment). He does curve his tests and extra credit opp. His lectures are very interesting and the way he talks is very engaging. He often calls on students at random to engage in discussion which would normally freak me out but the topics are interesting enough to speak to.
Dr. Redker is a great professor in his own right. Taking a class online can make it difficult to get to know who you are being taught by. The class was mostly reading, but Dr. Redker gave introductory videos a lot which helped bridge the gaps between the text and concepts. Most of the grade is from quizzes and four unit exams with two attempts.
This course is self taught from the reading Dr. Redker attached. There are no recorded lectures. The quizzes questions are all online. There is an essay assignment that is not clear. There are three timed lockdown blower tests that can be taken twice. He curves the test grade. There are extra credit discussion board. No final.
Pretty good online course. I ended up just skimming the book and writing down the answers to the learning objectives and then finding other students' quizlets and practicing those for the test. Definitely a time commitment but it was worth it for me. The portfolio assignment is an easy A.
For his online class, I read a 30< page chapter every week and took a 10-20 question quiz every chapter. Every 4 quizzes came an exam. This course isn't objectively difficult, but it took a ton of work to complete. The textbook is extremely detailed and it's hard to figure out what needs to be studied the most and what can take the back burner.
I did 100% online. Dr. Redker posts helpful intro videos for each chapter. An online textbook is provided for free, and you just read each chapter and take an open-note quiz. Exams are hard and lockdown browser; you get two attempts. Lots of reading, don't procrastinate. Project instead of final exam. Extra-credit discussion boards offered.
I really liked this professor but you are only graded on exams and one portfolio assignment at the end. The exams can be tough, definitely recommend going to lecture. Also read the book that he posts in Canvas it will help on exams. He is pretty funny and can make some of the topics pretty interesting.
Great professor. Attendance is not taken but info from his lectures is not in the textbook but is on tests. Only 5-6 exams and one project, no homework! The lowest exam score is dropped, and exam scores are curved.
I took this class strictly online and it was the most challenging thing I have ever done. I hated doing the work because there was no point in doing it. He doesn't give you any insight on what to study and tells you to take notes on the targets that are given to you in the book. He may be a good professor to have in person but not online.
Please avoid Dr. Redker if you can. He does not post your grade until the class is over, which gave me the worst anxiety as someone who constantly checks their grade. This class is very quiz and exam heavy. There are no study guides or anything so you basically have to know the whole textbook going into the exams. Also, the exams are lockdowns.
This was a good online course - everything straightforward and I found the material interesting for the most part.
i have severe anxiety going to his classes because he cold calls .. I would rather skip. He's a good professor tho, great at lecturing. His lectures are so good. I hate psych but his lectures are fun and interesting. heh...
Chris is a great professor! He's funny, nice, and his lectures are entertaining. He engages with the students and tries to get people involved in the discussions, and he's not rude or condescending if someone doesn't know the answer to a question. He's so knowledgeable, he's just a great professor :)
Very informative and gives metaphors instead of just reading off definitions. Ask questions if needed, and he will happily answer. Attendance isn't graded, but I don't recommend missing lectures. Take notes and record, since he fills every minute he has with content. The course is based on 6 tests and a portfolio at the end, so be ready to study.
Bad professor, doesn't do anything. He gives no feedback, no material, barely any extra credit, and he doesn't grade anything himself. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Fetty Wap. That's why your dad DIED.
To be able to do well on the exams, you actually have to go to the lectures, but he makes his lectures interesting and fun and it doesn't feel like time is dragging by.
It really seems he cares about students and their future. Expects students to come to class prepared. Attendance is a must.
Love this professor. If you come for questions, he will give you an entire lecture about everything around the question, so be ready to take charge of OH. Told me he used me as a reference for how understandable his teaching is. "If M doesn't understand, nobody in this class understands." Answers all my in-class questions gratefully.
Avoid at all cost. Most unhelpful teacher.
If you are not a test taker. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. You have a test every other week, and they are hard. I studied for hours and still did badly. There are no homework assignments. Your grade is completely based on how you do on your test. There are 50 questions on each test and you don't get a study guide. He's an okay professor.
Very knowledgeable. Has 6 exams in total, just study your notes taken in class and make sure to go to class since he doesn't post notes/ lectures. Optional final exam and you have to do one paper which isn't hard. If your not a test taker do not take because he only grades by tests. The textbook is free/ he provides it. Easy class.
His lectures were always very engaging and enthusiastic, making it easy to stay focused during class. However, he does memorize names and will cold call on students in lecture. Exams are relatively difficult, especially if you miss class, so attend regularly. The class was very exam heavy and make up essentially the entirety of your grade.
Nice professor and decent class. You have to keep up with the textbook on canvas. Liked his in-person lectures the most but his canvas lectures weren't horrible.
