he is really nice and willing to discuss different views. great sense of humor too!
He was great! Very fun and funny too! He is very helpful in explaining difficult subject matter. Willing to work w/ students if they too are willing to WORK! He has great sense of humor about religion and about life itself!
great teacher...by far one of my faves. is a priest and occasionally wears his collar to class. has a great sense of humor and is very helpful in explaining notes or instructions. will talk bout other subject matter that is related to the days teaching.
The best professor I've ever had. I'd take another course from him if I had the chance.
Funny guy! Very smart, knows his stuff, and he's a Buffy fan!=)
it was hard to follow what he was talking about in class, but i took all the notes that i could. There was an open note midterm, and final, each was 2 questions in a blue book, and he didnt want more than a page or 2 for each. not a bad class at all.
This guy knows his stuff. You should take his classes.
Catholic Priest: Is a GREAT prof. Highly recommended. Great sense of humor, didn't observe any sacred cows in class (although the secular uber geeks should know when NOT to debate with the prof). NO PONTIFICATION OR PROSELYZATION experienced here!
One of the best teachers out there. He has a great sense of humor and is REALLY smart. His lectures are always interesting and he knows when to break up the teaching with a good joke every once in a while. Great class to have in the morning if you need to
Professor Robinson is one of my fav. His lectures are clear, provides examples, and makes good jokes. His quizzes were easy and the test wasn't that bad. He's very understanding and does't expect the impossible from you. Participation is important.
Look, listen, and you WILL Learn. Amazing professor, even more amazing, open minded person. Prof. Robinson is definitely worth changing your schedule for!
Extremely intelligent. Probably one of the most knowledgable professors at depaul. He is absolutely amazing. Do take him, you will learn so much. I am amazed by his knowledge and his ability to teach. AMAZING!!!!
Read the other comments if you don't believe me, but he is one of the best teachers I've had so far. He's very knowledgable and very approachable if you dont understand the material. Just listen and take notes and you should do fine on his tests/quizzes. He's a very nice and cool teacher. :)
Great, great teacher. Interesting class discussions, very knowledgeable, always very encouraging and willing to help. I'd recommend him :)
Chris is an amazing teacher, but perhaps a more amazing mentor. I dont know anyone who did not enjoy and appreciate working with him. I recommend everybody to take a class with him at some point in your DePaul career.
The best teacher I have had thus far in my history of schooling. He is very helpful and makes learning fun and easy. He is always willing to help and always makes sure everyone understands his points and theories. Definately take him if you need a Religion course
Awesome. Great teacher, great mentor, great person. HIGHLY recommended.
I dont think I would make it through this class if any other teacher taught it. I had him for a three hour night class for buisness ethics, not the most interesting subject, but I could make it through without falling asleep.
Great teacher. Makes class interesting. Easy grader. I enjoy going to class. Highly recommended.
Very good professor, very friendly, you will get an A if you just do the reading/work. He is very knowlegable. Take this class you will love it!
i had this class for a night class. Usually thier boring but i enjoyed going to class. This prefessor is amazing. I have not touch the book all quarter and i still managed to get an A in the class. I dont know how i did it but i strongly advise u to take this professor.
Very responsive to students... really looks out for them. Class is interesting and VERY EASY GRADER. Didn't read anything to get an A-
The Mutha F*ckin Man. No doubt the best teacher I have had thus far at DePaul. He makes the material hella interesting. He uses great metaphors to heighten understanding of the material. Great Class, Great Teacher...
Smartest man alive! So nice and he honestly does know everything. His classes are interesting and he is always willing to give you extra credit.
Possibly the best teacher I've ever had. Very challenging, but is fair in his grading and expectations. Excellent at making the material relevant and his knowledge of just about all subject matters is unsurpassed by any professor I've had. Definitely recommended.
Best teacher, hands down! The class is not for those trying to fill the religion requirement and he makes that very clear from the beginning. This is the best class I've taken so far and it's because of Robinson. Seriously, the guy punk'd us during class, what else needs to be said?
very intelligent professor.very entertainting. always understanding and helpful! he is a young priest but at the same time a real person. it's cool to watch him light up a cigarette b/c you remeber that he's human. can truly relate to students. always writes AMAZING recommendations. attendance/participation IMPORTANT!
He is very intelligent and gives great examples of the material in real life. You do have to read a little, but he is a pretty easy grader. He has a great sense of humor that makes it a fun class.
Very open minded, nice, intellegent, uses real life situations, makes you think, awesome. I will never forget what he taught me. Thanks Prof Robinson.
Undoubtedly the BEST professor I have ever had here at DePaul. The man is simply amazing. Not only is he a genius, who can start an interesting discussion on ANYTHING, but he is also funny, witty, and SO helpful, sweet, and understanding to his students. I will never forget what I have learned from him, he is the BEST!
He is the best professor you will have if you take any of his classes. You will regret it if you don't register for his class. He is the best professor I have ever had.
Made topics I thought would be boring soo interesting. This man knows EVERYTHING and knows how to make it appealing to the students. I think I learned more in this class about catholicism than I have in my 21 years of life as a catholic.
By far one of the best professors I have had at DePaul! He's funny and kept my attention throughout every class and it was a night class which is hard to do. He's an extremely knowledgable guy and will does his best to be fair and treat everyone with the same respect!! TAKE HIM!!
I don't think I have ever had more fun in a religion class. He is a great teacher! If you have to take religion take him!
Awesome teacher! He really wants you to do well and understand the material. He plays devil's advoctae on many issues which helps liven up class discussions. He ended up giving us full credit for 3-4 quizzez out of 10 for various reasons. He is very fair and reasonable. Overall a great guy who'll be glad to lend a hand in the future.
Great teacher. He's dedicated to his students, and really wants you to learn the material. There's a lot of reading in this class, but it's worthwhile during the discussions. Take your class from this man!
Wonderful professor and human beign. He lives in the real world and treats his students like human beings which is rare
the best teacher i have ever had, he helped me through college and does more for his students than he needs to. hes a funny priest and he is able to relate to you. TAKE HIM FOR ANY CLASS!
This man could teach any class and it'd still be interesting. I don't need to reiterate anything here, the comments above speak for themselves. TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM!
Father Chris is two words: Absolutely Amazing! Take him if you can! He's soooo funny and nice. I loved him and his class! He makes class interesting and explains the material using real life examples. If you pay attention and show interest in the class, he'll give the same back to you. Awesome awesome awesome!
What a great prof! He is funny, makes the 3hr night class go by like that. A lot of reading assignments, but you really don't need to do them all. He goes over everything you need to know for the quizes in class. Get involved & make comments in class; he likes to see that. Take him if you can, it will be worth it!
Best professor you can possibly take for a night class. Not exactly good because he's easy, but good because he is good.
The best professor i have ever had!!! He is the only person that can make a 3 hour night class fly by. Great guy, helps you as much as he can, very interesting lectures. Take him and you will not regret it.
Father Chris has become one of my favorite professors at Depaul. He's super liberal, which I love, and very open minded. The class is easy if you show up and do the work. He's also willing to work with you on extra credit. take him! you won't regret it.
Fr. Chris is hands down the best professor I've had at DePaul. I've taken a number of classes with him and all of them were great. He's not necessarily the easiest professor but if you do the reading and show up for class you'll have 0 problems. His classes are always interesting & he's always willing to help students.
Wonderful man, cares about students a lot. Gives out A's consistently to the class. Did not find the material very interesting. He will embarrass you if you text/talk or type in class by calling you out. Sign in sheet daily- don't skip class.
Professor Robinson is hilarious and sincerely cares about his students, but the class itself was not what I was expecting. We learned more about the history of religions instead of debating about anything. He lectures for the full hour and a half, and is tough about attendance and participation. I suggest taking only if you are ready to do work.
Fr. Robinson is awesome! He can make any subject interesting. He also makes you REALLY think about religion.
Robinson was a really nice person, but a terrible professor... He did not give us ANY grades until week 9 when the quarter was almost over, and then provided absolutely zero feedback to our work... I was looking forward to his class but was thoroughly dissapointed with the content and complete lack of feedback. Class was a perpetual build up...
Fr. Robinson is a nice guy, but NOT a good professor.. His lectures are tHE longest lectures I have ever sat through and I felt like we were constantly building a foundation for something that we BARELY discussed in class. He also is terrible about posting grades and I received absolutely NO feedback on my work. Nice guy, but I wouldn't take him.
Rev. Robinson definitely knows what he is talking about and is a great resource for religion. However, he did not grade one assignment the whole quarter or give any feedback. He told everyone they received A's on the midterm and I turned in all of my assignments, so I expected an A. However, my grade was lower than expected. His grading is unclear.
Incredibly intelligent & knows what he's talking about, uses lots of examples to clarify concepts & class discussions are interesting. The posts below aren't lying-its week 9 & so far the only grade we've gotten back is on the midterm but he does grade easy. He said the worst he gives is a C. Attendance sheet, so don't skip. He's very nice!
Professor Robinson is one of the best professors i have had at DePaul. He is honestly one of the most genuine people i have ever met. Before his class i had lost most faith in all religious figures due to the fact that i could not get behind their thought process. After taking Prof. Robinson's course my opinion has been completely reinvented.
Kind and cares about your grade, but lectures cram so much information into an 1.5 hr period that it is overwhelming. Rarely engages w/ the class- just talks. He mostly graded assignments on time and did give feedback, but it was confusing feedback (I consistently received bad grades on things I was sure I had aced w/ little explanation from him)
Fr. Robinson is a great person and professor. This class is definitely one of the least challenging/interesting religion courses at DPU. Buy the book because he expects you to read and know more than just what he talks about in class for exams and short weekly papers. There's also an attendance sheet but overall easy class.
This class is great. The professor keeps the class very interesting for everyone. Not very much homework, just a page update every week. Then a final paper that is 10 pages, not bad.
Fr. R is great! He expects you to read a lot of the textbook and only touches on other info in class. Weekly 'updates' are easy, midterm is open note, final is a 10 page paper. He is excited to help you outside of class and will do his best to help you get an A. He does not force participation. Very interesting course, learned a lot. Be open minded
Father Chris is the absolute best! TAKE HIM!!!! He is an incredibly fair grader, and always there if you need extra help. He caters the class to the intelligence level and interests of the students and it is incredible. He is my favorite professor at DePaul thus far.
Father Chris' class is organized, clear, and perfect for those looking to fill their religion requirement. The only negative is you don't receive any feedback on your work, not even on the midterm and final. Great online class, highly recommend.
I know he is incredibly attentive to his students, but the amount of assignments due on a weekly basis does not make this an easy A+. Not saying that is a bad thing but if you are looking for an easy online class do not take this one. You usually have a quiz, one-page paper over 25+ pages of reading and forum discussion/ask 2 questions every week.
Fr. Robinson is an incredibly smart and cool man but, in all fairness, completely dropped the ball in our course. He claimed that "he got busy" in like week three of the quarter and literally did not grade a single thing from then on, just giving us all 100s. It was nice, except you did not know if you actually understood anything he presented.
Reverend Christopher Robinson is a true gem. He's funny, accessible, and caring. The lectures were heavy and he wrote all over the board with chalk so you have to keep up with the notes. Attendance is mandatory, there is a 400 word week update, 5 quizzes (most will be waived), and a midterm and final paper. Terrible at updating grades though.
I try to write what he wants to read but he always finds every flaw or concept that doesn't make sense to him and therefore will deduct points. He is an unfair grader and has favorites. If I could put a zero I would.
Fr. Robinson is a really amazing lecturer. I wish we could've gone past the surface level of the subject, but thats hard to in nine weeks. Very lenient grader. He wants you to succeed, but you have to show that you're making an effort. Only complaint I have was the delay in updating grades.
Online course was difficult and wish I hadn't taken it honestly. Takes weeks to grade things so I was unaware of my grade most of the quarter walking into the final. Hard to learn the material correctly not being in the classroom. Not an easy A+, but his feedback is thorough. If you enjoy online classes and understand the topic, then you'll be fine
Seriously the best professor. Lectures were always interesting and he always made sure things were clear before moving on. Would absolutely take this class again just because of how relatable he made the content, especially when religion is sometimes a sticky subject. Loved it!
Avoid at all cost
He seems like a great guy, but very unclear with what he wants for you. Truly passionate about the topic but lots of readings that can be hard to process the actual message from it which is needed to do assignments. Super sweet guy but just really tough grader.
Misleading course name. The course is called Religion & Film, but I would say it's 95% religion, 5% film. The reading materials are difficult to comprehend and his lectures are no help. He rambles on and on and never gets to the point. Don't take this class unless you're really interested in Christianity. Worse class I've taken at DePaul.
I am in Religion & Film, and can honestly say that Father Robinson makes the class so much more captivating and fun! The readings can be a bit tough to understand, but his lectures are really beneficial. I have loved all of the films so far. He's a tough grader, but gives thorough feedback and cares about students succeeding in the class.
If you're looking for an easy religion class just to fulfill the credit, don't take this one. He grades as if we are all religion majors. Avoid at all costs.
Father Rob is honestly amazing. This class content can be challenging if you struggle with philosophy like myself. He did cancel and give us all 100% for all of week 10 and the final because he recognized how hard this quarter was. His compassion and kindness for his students is apparent. Such a gem!
Father Robinson may be one of the most caring professors I have ever had. His class is relatively lecture heavy, and sometimes it can become a little mundane--however, he is very well read and an easy grader considering the content is unfamiliar to a lot of folks. He is so kind, and I wouldn't have wanted any other prof at 8 in the morning.
If there is any review you need to look at, THIS IS THE ONE! He literally grades everyone as if you're a religion major and he is does not offer any flexibility or extension under any circumstance regardless of your situation. I had covid the second week of the quarter and he was still not budging. Avoid at all costs seriously dont take any chances
I loved prof robinson and his engaging lectures! he encourages you to handwrite your notes and dislikes the use of technology in class. in my experience, the grading process was extremely slow. despite this, I still suggest taking this class, it was actually enjoyable despite it being about religious concepts
Professor Robinson was so great. Very flexible on due dates and a super easy grader. He is very kind and accepting. The class is discussion-based and I really feel like I learned so much from him and this class. I took it for my religion requirement and it was so much better than I expected. I can't recommend this class and professor enough!
Very kind and funny. Extremely easy grader. Passionate and extremely knowledgable, loves questions and debates and is open to all perspectives and viewpoints. Overall, great guy!
Very accommodating to students and world circumstances; our quarter was chaotic so he cancelled a response paper. Looks for feedback and engagement. He doesn't like technology in class, and he doesn't post lecture slides. He does make exceptions though!
(HON 104) This was one of my favorite classes. He really cares for his students and the homework is very reasonable. The films we have to watch outside of class became a weekend thing with my friends and we all loved it! Only a handful of response papers + final project but he really cares about you understanding the material and asking questions.
(HON 104) Such a funny guy and made class enjoyable. Expect some reading and weekly response papers + a final paper. The films assigned were fun to watch and discuss in class! Definitely would take him again :)
Fr. Robinson was a great professor who was clearly knowledgeable on what he was teaching. Overall great professor who clearly loves engaging with students about the topic at hand.
(Took HON104) Prof. Robinson is genuinely such a nice man! No technology allowed in his classroom and it honestly made the class better. His lectures take tangents but they're interesting. The final project was really fun to research and complete.
Christopher Robinson's Religion and Pop Culture class was one of my favorites I've taken. He's a very kind, understanding professor and truly cares about what he teaches. Would take him again in a heartbeat!
Seriously my favorite class I've ever taken! I feel that I have learned SO much and I think he is so sweet! Also he teaches by fact and not on his own personal belief. Would take again in a heartbeat.
