I am horrible in math and am making an A. He's very nice and gives extra credit! You should do good if you do your work.
A good teacher. Anyone who has problems in math should deff take him. He will do just about ANYTHING to help you. also a really nice guy
great teacher if you dont pass his class you just didnt try....
Best math teacher I've ever had!!I always understand what he is teaching, and refuse to take any other math teach. Which is why I am taking him again next semester!:)
I would not reccommend and I'm a B student
He is very helpful when you can understand what he is saying, Im a B student and this was my 1st C, his Quizs are easy but the test will knock you on you butt. Go to class and take advantage of his office hours and he will pass you.
He is helpful if you take lots of extra time to spend with him. The comments about him being easy are absurd! He's one of the hardest teachers at GC and delights in telling you how many people haven't passed his classes, I barely passed!
I was just reading the comments saying he was a hard teacher... not at all! I made C's the last two years in high school and made a B in this class. I could have made an A if I had done homework and studied! He is VERY willing to help. Yes he tells how a lot of students fail but he makes known that he is there to help. Gives lots of help!
You have to take him! Really funny and really easy if you keep up with problems. He picks the problems on the test from the problems in the homework; so, its in your best interest to do all of your work. He also drops the lowest test grade.
Dont take his class! You cant understand him! He is a really nice guy, and funny, but if you need to understand what your teacher is saying I would NOT take his class.
Good teacher. Kind of hard to understand at first but once you get used to it he is really funny. He is also very helpful if you ask him questions. I recommend taking him for statistics.
This is the best math teacher ever! He is so helpful. He comes on weekends and stays late to help you. He is funny and makes class go by quickly with his stories. He is hard to understand at first, but after you get over that he is great! Grades fairly and gives partial credit on tests. Highly recommend!
I loved him! I love statistics now also. He is the best teacher I have ever had. I thought I hated math but it's just because I never had a good teacher. Stat was fun and Mr. Hekimoglu made it interesting.
He can teach math to a stone if you pay attention.
he is great!I love him!
He is a nice and funny guy. Very reasonalbe is you attend class, pay attention, do homework, and study for quizzes and tests. All questions from quizzes (all are announced) and tests come from homework. I made an A. He is also pretty cute in an exotic way.
Awesome teacher!!!! He comes in on sunday's to help if you need it. However, if you do not show up for class and give effort he will be less likely to help you. The man is very smart and teaches lights out. Please take him if you can.
He is a bit difficult to understand but if you can get past the accent, you will see how much math this guy knows.
Good teacher, but often hard to understand. attend class and you should do alright
Im serious when I say he is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I wish he taught at UGA!!!!!! He can be a bit hard to understand, but you get used to it quick. He is super smart and with his degrees he could be doing a million other things other than teaching at Gainesville so take him while you can!
Best math teacher I've EVER had. Also the most fair. If you show up for class and are willing to learn, he will explain it to you and work with you better than anyone else. He is kind and funny, in his own weird way. Always in his office to help. If you do the work, you will be prepared. If you skip class, he will fail you. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Really nice guy. Attendance is a BIG deal. A lot of the material is about teaching elementary math. I work at a school so this class was really easy to me. I did study for the tests. Participate in class. He likes that. I got an A.
He does a terrible job at explaining things and he doesn't prepare you at all for your tests. I was stuck studying like 600 slides before each test because he doesn't give you any idea what he's going to cover. He also claims certain things in the book and answers to quizzes that HE gives you are wrong at the last minute. Worst class I've taken..
What would REALLY help this class would be some type of concrete study guide before exams. He gives you TOO much information to cover and doesn't even talk about half of it in class.
Very good class. I took it in summer 2009
guys i dropped this class. He is the guy who appreciates only the smart student. The students who already are teachers and engineers. He really does not care about the rest of the class.
I have taken Math with Mr. H a few times, and he is extremely helpful. He seems to genuinely care if his students to well, and he holds TONS of office hours to help people out. Attend class and he will virtually tell you what will be on math tests almost word-for-word. Add in the bonus points, and even a person bad at math should be able to get a B
Took maymester and made really good grades on quizes but failed test. Nobody passed 1st test. Had to withdraw. Whate a waste of money.
Took him for Maymester and made an A. Great teacher and makes the class fun... i dont know of anybody who failed him test because he gives great study guides and as long as you go to class and study the studyguide it will be a breeze and you'll pass with flying colors! really cool teacher i dont know what these ppl on here are talking about
What? Are you nuts? Sexy accent and he is a super nice guy. He is the best teacher I have ever had in college. It is challenging, but if you do your work and go to his office hours he will help you. You must study for the tests and put forth effort, but isn't that why you're in college?
I thought he was soooo helpful and funny!! I hate math and I thought he made it interesting! He even bought pizza one day for the whole class! Great teacher!
Dr. H is the best professor that I've had at GSU. He is extremely helpful and goes above and beyond to help his students. Kind of a smart ass, but explains things really clearly and in-depth. He gets very excited about math, and it?s pretty entertaining.
He is awful. All he says after he works a problem is: "is it difficult? Not for you guys." Actually, w/ your heavy accent it is. Hw, and study guide questions are nothing like the test! The book problems will look like heaven to you after the test. 1 person got an A on the last exam. My good deed-saving your GPA has been done. DO NOT TAKE!
If you are taking calculus, definitely take this guy. He is an awesome teacher and funny too. If you don't understand something he always finds a way to help you out personally. His tests are comprehensive so its like taking the same test over again with something extra on it, but it's really helpful for the final exam. He also drops ur lowest grd
hard to understand, doesn't work the problems out all the way, so you're left with no clear answer. Homework and quizzes are nothing like lectures or tests! I should have withdrawed!
Macro Econ, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM. 1) you cant understand him 2) by far the worst "teacher" i've had in college. Class is not mandatory, its pointless going to class. If I wasn't out-of-town over the "drop date" i would have down. But from one college student to the other, DO NOT TAKE AN ECON CLASS WITH THIS GUY. You are welcome!!
Professor H is a very nice guy, and he is hilarious. Highly recommend asking him when you do not understand the content. He is REALLY helpful but only as helpful as much effort you put into this class. Tests and HW are very fair.
Nice Teacher and sometimes funny. Does use interesting, but difficult examples in class. Tests are pretty tough so you must be prepared.
Mr.H is a really good techer. He is super helpful, funny, and really understands math and how to explain it to students.Curves test a little, gives quizzes (easy!), and is really fair. I would take him again!!!
I really enjoyed Mr.H's class! I hated math before having his class, but now I actually like math! Of course it was challenging at times, but that is what college is about! If you put forth effort he will do his best to give you the grade you deserve!
I am not even in his class but I go and see him when I have questions. Dr. H is a wonderful person; he helped me out every time.
Mr. H is helpful, but sometimes his accent is a bit difficult to understand. Overall I enjoyed his class, but sometimes he can be a bit insulting, and he talks badly about his other classes.
HIGHLY RECCOMENDED. 3rd time taking Dr.H. He is the best math professor I've had at GSC. He is compassionate about what he is teaching and his positive energy made me more interested in what he was teaching.
Professor H is a great professor and is very enthusiastic about what he studies and teaches. He explains everything very well and is patient. I absolutely loved his class. Book not really used. Take him!
Smart guy. He knows his stuff. I find him funny and straight forward. His class is pretty hard. But it is very do-able if you can put forth the time and effort.
He was probably the best professor I have ever taken. He has a fun personality that makes the class one you actually look forward to. We do have a lot of quizzes, so you will need to show up for the class, but it is not hard.
One of the best professors I have ever had. He is hilarious, interesting, and very intelligent. Teaching for him is clearly a passion first and an occupation second, and his infectious smile and wonderful sense of humor ensure learning will never be dull.
Professor Hekmglu was very well prepared, clarified the material, answered questions, always willing to help. He is very nice, considerate and helpful.
Awesome teacher! Made my worst subject easier and more fun!
Mr H is a great person and teacher!!! There should be more like him that don't put up with crap!! Loved his class and wish he could teach all my classes!!!
Class is pretty interesting and Professor Hekmog is a really cool dude. Simple assignments, but need to take decent notes in class to do especially well on tests. I have no background in stat and it wasn't bad at all. Tests were really easy for me.
Dr. H is a great professor. He challenges you and pushes you to succeed. If you are lazy and don't go to class, you will get a bad grade. But if you do the work, go to class, and pay attention, he takes that into account when grading!
Great professor! Does his best to keep a potentially boring class more entertaining. His tests are cumulative. If you start badly, you can still make a good grade by working on your previous tests.
The textbook for this class was terrible, but Dr. Serkan did a great job of working through it and made the material more on our level where we could easily understand it. he is a great teacher and is very knowledgeable. he cares about the students and will spend as much time as needed until you understand everything. best teacher i have had at GSC
He's a great teacher! He's funny and actually makes math more interesting. Take him if you get the chance.
I did relatively well in this class, and I'm not that great at math. He explained everything very thoroughly and always took time to answer questions. Do the homework. He doesn't grade it, but it helps to do it. A lot. He sometimes puts homework problems on the test.
Professor Serkan is a cool professor. He is very knowledgeable but I don't think he is a good instructor. But he is very hot.
Honestly, I would not recommend ANYONE to take his ECON 2105 class. He is hard to follow/understand and he has a VERY smart mouth. You can ask him ONE simple question and he goes all around the world to provide you with an answer that is irrelevant to what you even asked. I BARELY passed his class. Please take heed to the reviews you see about him!
He is impossible to get help from. Nice guy, but doesn't take he time to help you out at all. ex: I asked him what my grade was several times and he said that "taking the time to figure out my grade would be wasting his time" and "if he took 2 minutes per student to figure out grades he would be wasting like 4 hours of his life" .. Don't recommend!
Take him! Very smart guy and he is extremly nice.
great teacher! all his test are from homework. if you do the homework you should pass. take him he is great.
He is a great mathematics professor
He knows his stuff and he is very cool.
Super nice guy and very smart! He offers help every Sunday afternoon. I went several times and there was a small group from every class he teaches. He helped everyone with whatever they asked him. He's awesome! I wish I had more classes to take with him:)
There is no professor like him! I really wished he taught calculus this fall
Awful. No help at all.
Are you crazy? He is amazing and he is the whole reason I got an A in my calculus class. He is also very kind and not too bad to look at
Professor Serkan is a great professor and is very enthusiastic about what he studies and teaches. He explains everything very well and is patient. I absolutely loved his class. Book not really used. Take him!
He is very smart and knows his stuff. He has a very sexy accent and funny too.
One of my favorite professors of all time. I took him for Calculus. His teaching was interesting and his passion will motivate you to learn all you can about the subject matter. Come to class, take good notes, and do the assignments, and you will earn an A. I highly recommend him!
Very easy class if you laugh at his jokes! Homework is mostly completed in class. Tests directly from homework. He doesn't care if you don't want to go to class. Don't waste your money on a textbook. You won't need it.
Best math professor I’ve ever had! The man is very smart and teaches lights out. Which is why I am taking him again next semester:)
Dr. Serkan is indeed the best math teacher I've ever had. He's very intelligent and really knows what he's talking about. He's a friendly guy and he really wants you to do well in his class and to understand math. I strongly recommend taking his class.
I would highly recommend NOT taking him. I had a major language barrier, with him not being able to speak English clearly. He does not care about his students or their grades. I asked him to help me calculate my grade for the class, and he told me to figure it out for myself. Overall not the best math teacher.
I would highly recommend NOT taking him. There was a major language barrier, with him not being able to speak fluent English. I asked him to help me calculate my grade, he told me to figure it out on my own. He is no help, does not care about his students or their grades. I had to withdraw to keep my GPA up.
One of the better math 1111 teachers! But the class is not too bad as long as you keep up with the HW. Tests are usually from the HW, not exactly the same but very similar with some things switched around. Final is cumulative but resembles the hw a good bit
Professor Serkan does not teach to the slowest student in the clas, but to the brightest. However, he is patient when you get him one on one. The tests are hard. He is a nice guy, but not easy to find for help.
Great. Come to class, take notes, ask questions, and do your homework and it is an easy A. Test questions come from the homework. Sometimes the same as the homework, sometimes the numbers are switched up. I recommend him!
Overall a pretty good instructor and a nice guy. He was a little slow on grading & responding to emails, but he's very smart and he does not like teaching lower level math classes that's a little more understandable. He's willing to work with students to help them.
he is a great teacher. However, if you do not study or attend class, don't expect him to like you or for your grade to be great. His test questions come directly from your homework assignments in the text book. Tests are the only assignments he gives out. Homework is optional, but should be done if you want to pass.
He is such a great teacher! If you do your homework and come to class you will do great! He ALWAYS shows examples of the homework in class, and the test are made practically straight from the homework! He is also willing to answer any questions that you have! Fantastic teacher, I would recommend him!
Professor Serkan is indeed the BEST math teacher I've ever had. He's so intelligent and really knows what he's talking about. I never once got a feeling that he didn't want to be there. I strongly recommend taking his class.
Dr. Serkan will be one of the best math teachers you will ever have. When he teaches he makes sure you understand before going on. Your grade in this class depends on attendance and tests. Come to class, learn the material, do the homework (test questions are exactly like the homework) and you will get a good grade. Go to him if you need help!
He is very smart and he can be rude sometimes.
Extremely helpful professor! It's obvious that he really cares about the students and wants them to succeed. Tests can be difficult but, he does a great job of adequately preparing you.
Great professor taking him for STAT this FALL
He will not give points back if he messes up grading your test
COME TO CLASS! He notices if you do no show up and do not put in effort. He is a fair and straightforward teacher. If you do not understand ASK questions! Serkan is very willing to help! He has lots of office hours so GO! It's a hard class if you do not put the work in. I found him very easy to understand dealing with his accent. Great teacher!
He's a very nice guy. He really cares about his students and will do what he can to make sure you do your best. However, his class is by no means easy and his lectures are boring. Overall this class was okay. Do your homework!
He is a great teacher. Show up to class because that's when he gives extra credit to students that attend class. He really wants his student to understand and pass and he has a great sense of humor. I would definitely take him again.
He is an awesome professor! One of the best I have ever had. I have so much fun in his class, and I learn a lot from him.
Dr.H is a great person and professor! There should be more like him that don't put up with crap! He is very smart and can be rude if you behave like a kid.
Dr. Serkan is very enthusiastic and excited about math. He is always willing to help students and answers any questions. My class didn't have required homework. Instead, he gave us suggested problems to practice with. I liked that class a lot!
If you go to class and participate not only will you understand better but he will also consider that greatly when giving you your grade at the end of the semester. One of the best teachers i have ever had. Makes you take responsibility for your grade but if you put in the effort he will make sure it pays off.
Absolute worst class I have ever taken. He's degrading and rude to students throughout every lecture. One girl in the class left in tears. If you ask questions, he doesn't answer clearly and laughs at you. Had an A in the class with 2-3 weeks left. Had a head injury and was hospitalized. Instead of working with me, he straight up failed me.
He was the BEST math professor I've ever had. He explains everything SO well. He is very helpful during office hours and he cares about his students' performance. Very approachable and easy to talk to. Didn't like that the only grades were 4 tests and final.
Dr. Serkan is a great professor! He gives hard tests, but he will always help. He likes to tell jokes, so that you do not get bored in class. If you go to office hours, he will ensure you understand the material. Even though class was hard, I enjoyed it.
Serkan is a great professor! Test and quizzes are hard, but go to his office hours and he will help you. You will have to put in effort, but an A is definitely possible.
Dr. Serkan is my favorite teacher at UNG. In high school I failed all math, it didn't "click".I took him for both Statistics and Foundations. I made a B in stat and A in foundations. He gives you extra credit and explains things simply. Taking him for Calc 1 in fall. I'd take him for all classes if possible. Highly recommend him over and over.
Great professor! Very straight forward about what's on tests. Don't need to buy a textbook or online code. He gives great study material and prepares you well for his tests. Makes it impossible to fail! Would definitely take again!
Great professor! I am waiting to see if he has a calculus class one of these days... I highly recommend him! He is difficult, but fair. He truly understands the Math and doesn't hesitate to help you understand as well.
He gives very good and clear lectures and reasonable exams.
If you are taking any statistics classes, try to get one that is taught by Dr. Serkan. He explains things better than almost anyone in the department and is so knowledgeable. He's a very fair grader and gives good spoken feedback. A MUST-take! Don't buy the textbook!!
Dr. Serkan has been my favorite professor I have ever had. He does not require attendance but he will remember somehow in his head if you're not in class. Attend every class, do the non graded homework and you will do great. Great office hours and wants to help. Plus he is hilarious. TAKE SERKAN IF YOU CAN!!
Hands down favorite prof in my first year! Made me enjoy math and did well in the class, too! Take math with him you won't regret it!
I'm a freshman and Dr. Serkan has made my first semester great. He will come across as extremely mean the first week but don't let that or the 170$ textbook rental scare you. He added 12 points to every test just for us showing up. He encourages you to ask questions and use his office hours. Test questions are directly from homework. I love him!
At first I was nervous about having Dr. Serkan because he does have a heavy accent, but he always makes sure what he is teaching is understood. This class was super easy and he wants every student (those who respect him) to make an A. Definitely would recommend.
I would highly suggest Dr. Serkan to anyone. He really knows his stuff and makes classes as engaging as possible. He is a nice man, and is very helpful at his office hours.
Very straight forward and reasonable
The test were all cumulative. The final did not have to be taken. There are 4 tests (15% each) and 4 quizzes (5% each). MyStatLab is a must.
Dr. Serkan is one of those professors that are hard at first, but he grows on you. He has a thick accent, but within a few weeks you'll get used to it. Serkan is a great teacher who makes himself accessible outside of class. You can really tell that Dr. Serkan cares about his students and their learning.
Loved this class. This man is so funny and sharp! One of the best UNG has! You will not regret taking him
Professor Serkan is an amazing teacher. He loves to tell jokes whenever he can, he will always be available to help, and he sometimes does let you to do test corrections. Absolutely take him.
He was very chill and every test was open note. The quizzes were group quizzes. He was a super easy and awesome guy.
Great Professor! If you have to take business stats, take it with him!
Very intelligent man. He is really knowledgeable about what he is teaching, and a really funny guy, even if his jokes aren't always spot on.
He is intimidating at first, but once you get to know him he's hilarious and super nice! I recommend going to see him during his office hours and going over your tests with him personally because I ended up getting lots of points back on all my tests. There are only 3 test grades, 3 homework grades, and a final.
This professor truly knows what he is teaching, and when one needs better clarification he does not hesitate in giving it. I was someone who did not understand all the material, but he worked with me. Make sure to always come prepared for class and attend his lectures.
Serkan is a great guy. He really wants his students to pass. Class isn't mandatory but everyone will benefit from it if you go. He gives extra credit for coming to class and trying. He really knows what he's teaching. Awesome professor and very personable. GO to office hours!! He wants to help you if you want to do well. RECOMMEND TO TAKE HIM.
He is very clear about what is one his tests. Get 2 cheat sheets for every test and extra credit every class just for going and bringing your calculator. Would definitely recommend, EASY A.
Go to class, bring in the handouts, do the HW and make sure you get the bonus points. Tests are usually 25 questions so 10 extra bonus points go a long way. Key to getting an A. Dr. Serkan is a very good teacher and will help you at any chance he can. Highly recommend.
Dr Serkan is a really nice guy and good teacher. Do the easy homework (he had my class do it in class the day it was due), the put the questions from the homework and quizzes on your crib sheet. All the questions overlap, so if you put them on the crib sheet you will make a high A on every test. By far the easiest class I have ever taken in college
Dr. Serkan was one of the most helpful and most patient professors I have ever had at UNG. He is straight forward with his expectations for assignments and exams and he is also open to considering the class' opinion on what works best for them preparing for exams.
He is great at teaching, but it is difficult to make an A on his tests. You are allowed cheat sheets for the exam and given a study guide, but test questions are harder than the examples provided.
Best professor one can have, hands down. You are always welcome in his office, not just during his office hours. He has patience and he's dedicated.
Nice guy, a little intimidating. He'll help you with anything you need if you go to office hours.
Good professor. His tests are hard.
Professor Serkan was the BEST math professor I have taken in my college experience thus far. I failed my first pre calc class and I took him and made an A! He is always open to meet outside of class to review.;he assigns homework that isn't mandatory but do it bc those questions are the test! TAKE HIM you wont regret it!!! Super funny and helpful!
I would like to put a direct quote. I have a heart & its only for pumping blood. - this professors response to any student being sick/hospitalized/attending a funeral/car wreck Another quote: I dont like talking to people.
I can't tell you how much I hate this man. DO NOT skip class, because there is a quiz every am. I ended up getting a B, but I went to his office hour for help and he mocked me for it in class. He his harsh, and quite frankly cruel. The material is easy, but he literally tries to trick you into failing. Can use cheat sheet for test, so CRAM it up.
Serkan is a stand-up guy. But he's not an easy professor. He's one of the smartest people I've ever met and he really cares about the students in his class. He is willing to help students understands concepts after class. He is also a lenient grader. Best prof.
I have never been able to understand math until I took his class. He is a great teacher. The materials we went over in class was exactly what was on the test so never miss class. He is very sarcastic but as long as you pay attention you'll do great. I loved him!
Serkan is not a good teacher. He is very rude and will laugh at you when you need help or don't understand something. He will tell you to come to his o office hours then make you feel bad about yourself. He gives extra credit because he knows its hard for people to understand him since he has such a thick accent but it doesn't help. Don't take him
Dr. Serkan is one of those professors that are super hard at first, but he grows on you. He has a thick accent, but within a few weeks, you'll get used to it. He's a hard professor teaching a hard class, but I wouldn't want to take it with anyone else. You can really tell that Dr. Serkan cares about his students and their learning.
This by far was my favorite teacher I've ever had at ung. I am a sophomore in college and have had a lot of teachers here, but Dr. Serkan is by far the best.
A GREAT professor. Has a strong accent and seems like he is going to be hard at first but as long as you show up to class, take notes, and take the online quizzes you will be fine. All of his test questions are taken straight from the inline quizzes and in class questions. He has office hours and is happy to answer any questions you have.
If you don't do good with accents, don't take him. He makes this known on the first day of class. Other than that, he is a very good professor but you HAVE to show up to class!! He also has a very dry sense of humor that was refreshing for a boring, late afternoon class. If you are wanting a class you don't have to work in don't take this class.
This professor is quite difficult and his accent is hard to understand.
Best professor at UNG by far. He has an accent, but if you ask him to clarify something, he will. There's a weekly online quiz that is super straight forward, three exams that are exactly like the quizzes, and a final which is made up of the three exams. He gives you extra credit for coming to class with your calculator every day.
Dr. Serkan is an awesome professor who truly cares about students learning the material, not just memorizing for tests. It is necessary to go to class, otherwise you probably won't know what's going on.
Dr. Sorkan is a great professor. He is there to answer any question that you might have, and he is very knowledgeable. However, you have to work in his class.
Dr. Serkan is a unique professor. He makes it known that his accent is thick, and encourages students to drop the class if you are "not an A or B student." He starts units by making students do about two weeks worth of homework, and grades based on how he showed the class how to do something, not whether or not the answer is correct.
I took Serkan for college algebra and I loved him! He does have an accent, but is a good teacher. He gives a heck ton of extra credit. He is very accessible outside of class. If you dont show up to class, you probably wont do well. He does expect you to work and come to class. But overall, he is great!
Dr. Serkan made a hard class quite enjoyable. His grading is very fair and if you show up to class prepared and ready to take notes you won't have anything to worry about. He cracks lots of jokes and is very honest and straight forward. He also clearly wants his students to succeed; he grades super quickly and gives plenty of chances to improve.
Serkan makes learning difficult ideas easy. He is always willing to answer questions and assist students. He is also always willing to meet with you and will help you in any way he can. Overall, great professor.
Awesome dude :D
Take anyone else besides Serkan if you want to pass precalculus. He does not give any partial credit or curves.
Serkan was the worst math professor I've had at UNG. He is unclear and not helpful along with being very condescending when you ask a question. He gives virtually no feedback on tests and gives little to no partial credit. Don't take unless you absolutely must
He is a nice person and has a talent for Math but he is not good at teaching Math. You need to attend class, take notes and also read the book by yourself, or you can't pass the test. Don't take him if you have no choice. Extremely difficult, condescending if you have trouble understanding concepts.
Don't take him. Serkan is a good man but not a good teacher. He makes mathematics so hard and barely explains anything. I walked into class knowing I was really good at math but he made it so hard, would never take him again. No matter how hard I studied never managed to do well on any of his tests.
The only D I've received in college. Part of it is because our styles simply did not match-but I wasn't the only one. He met with students outside of class which I took advantage of, but it wasn't always super helpful-and I received a condescending air from him. This is a hard class and he rushed through material.
Alright so I came into this class loving math and left hating the class. Homework assignments are insane and you should not expect good grades on them. Quizzes before each class. 3 Tests and a final. Tests are VERY hard.
Serkan is one of those professors that you question at first but really grows on you. He really cares about his students and always calls it as he sees it. He is honest and makes sure if you put in the effort you will get a good grade in his class. Always do the homework and extra credit, you will pass the tests if you do it. Homework helps alot.
Professor Serkan is probably my favorite professor Ive ever had. He is definitely tough at first, and almost scared me off. He comes off really mean at first but just wants to make sure you care. He cares deeply and is really funny. Just work with him and he will work with you!
As a person, he can be a little confusing during lectures and is not afraid to call people out. For me, there was a ton of self-teaching but the material was easy to follow and due dates were clear. Don't take him if you need someone patient to help you along. Otherwise, average professor, average difficulty.
Professor Serkans class was the best math class Ive taken. I do prefer statistics over other maths but he taught you the information in our hybrid class in a useful way. You will learn how to do stat with a calculator and not have to remember pointless equations for tests. Theres 4 tests and a final and he allows you to bring a notecard for them
Dr. Serkan is one of the best math professors I have taken. He went out of his was this summer session to help make sure his students were understanding the course material. If we could not make it during office hours, he set up additional zoom meetings for further assistance. He helped make statistics, much easier to comprehend.
Professor Serkan is definitely one of the best math teachers Ive ever had. I took him for STAT and Algebra, make sure you do the home work and attend class! The home work boosted my grade from a B to an A. If you show up to class he will give you extra credit on the tests and put in a 100 for quiz grades. He is tough but really cares about student
Dr. Serkan is a good math professor and he cares about his students. His class is heavily graded on a few tests and homework. The amount of work you put in will reflect in your grade but don't expect to be able to scoot by without a lot of studying on your own.
My favorite professor I have ever had in all my professors at UNG
Dr. Serkan is OK. I took him for Math1401, all of the homework is online. The tests are based on homework. He tries to show you everything by using the Ti84 calculator.
I love this guy, and his accent is amazing. He makes Stat awesome! I didn't study for test one and got a D. I studied for the rest and did great. He's a fair grader, he teaches the info well, he's funny, so the class isn't boring, and he always responds to emails asking for help. Awesome professor!
He is simply THE BEST! TAKE HIM! He is very helpful to all students. His most admirable qualities are that he makes an effort to make sure everyone understands the material, so no one walks away with questions.
Amazing professor and what a great guy. Took a potentially excruciating stat course and explained it in perfect terms for everyone to understand. He made the class very fun, and I actually looked forward to every lecture. Wish he could teach me in other courses.
I think he's a great professor, I have him for the first time this semester. Statistics is hard, but he teaches complex topics with ease and simplicity. He gives helpful tricks to remember things. I haven't had the final exam yet but his lectures are great, and the tests were fair.
Professor Serkan was a great person and teacher. We had plenty of time to turn homework in and quizzes were always based on the homework. He is always willing to answer your questions and makes good use of the time you spend in his class. There were also opportunities throughout the course for extra credit.
Professor Serkan gives detailed and concise lectures. If you take good notes and do all the HW, you'll do well as with any course. He also adds a twist of humor to class with his funny commentaries. Extremely open to questions in class.
Professor Serkan is very knowledgeable and funny. He always tells interesting stories. He is one of my favorite professors here at UNG. I took him for Statistics last fall and got a B. A lot of work is required in his class, but you learn something from every assignment. No tricks or useless questions. Outstanding professor.
Stat is downright hard, but he is probably the best professor I ever had, He is a good professor and also very helpful. The tests were very fair, and he also gives a lot of extra credit.
Best professor ever! Coming into the class, I thought stat is the most boring thing in the world. After taking his class, with his caring attitude, I changed my attitude completely. I am super grateful for what he has done!
This professor is very cute, which along is able to make attending his classes the most enjoyable thing in the world, not mention his outstanding academic ability and fascinating teaching style.
Professor Serkan was really cool. Heavy accent but very hilarious. He gives a shoot ton of homework but all exams are based on the homework which is really straight forward. While teaching the class he makes sure everyone understands the work.
Prof. Serkan definitely know his staff. You can tell on the lectures: he explain everything very clearly.
Serkan's gives a ton of hw. I'll spend hours doing them because every hw is around 100 questions and multiple parts. He isn't a great lecturer and is super mean. I asked a question and he told me that it's not hard to understand and it's a me problem. It got so bad with him saying stuff like this to students people just stopped asking questions.
Dr. Serkan is the best math professor I have ever had. The class is lecture-heavy but engaging and he is really good at making sure everyone understands. The best part of the class was the exam was very similar to the homework meaning that if you could complete the types of problems on the homework, you are ready for the tests.
I absolutely loved this class! He was funny and kept the class interesting. The lectures were boring but he knows that himself and admits to it. There are lots of extra credit opportunities! Attendance and participation does matter he HATES when you are on your phone in class so I don't recommend doing that. Overall would take again!
He explains the material very clearly and goes through many examples. Tests are very similar to examples done in class and online quizzes. Formula sheets are allowed on exams as well. He is very helpful and caring outside of class through emails & office hours.
Amazing professor that cares about the students. He's got a good handle on lectures and will answer any questions you have. Gives out weekly homework and quizzes, but its not bad because he drops your lowest grades for each. Tests are straightforward because he goes over the questions beforehand.
I admittedly am not good at math and have a hard time understanding it, but Serkan really helped me to understand the concepts and do well on the tests and quizzes. Apart from being a great professor, Serkan has an amazing, dry sense of humor and a no nonsense attitude in his class. Overall, I would recommend him to anyone who needs a math credit.
A no-nonsense professor, but I don't mind. He's funny and gives a lot of extra points for students that have difficulty with tests. You gotta show up to take notes and get points, don't skip class because he's strict about showing up for every quiz and not rescheduling tests. Knowledgeable and approachable. I don't like science and still passed.
Dr Serkan is the best professor I have had at UNG. He keeps the lecture interesting and makes sure all the students have an understanding of the subject matter. If I could, I would take the rest of my courses with this professor.
I was a student of Dr S for over 2 years, I have to agree his courses are challenging but he prepares you for what is ahead. He's super funny, very intelligent, and clearly loves what he does. Attendance is technically optional, but try not to miss a class. I almost failed- but I DIDN'T and if I was able to pass, so can you!
He is an excellent professor! His lectures are some of the most clear I've seen. I never read the book and still scored in the high As on exams. I would definitely recommend taking his class, even if you're not a math major and have a little bit of fear of math.:)
I've taken him for multiple classes and he's great! If you show up and show you are trying you will pass. He is a great professor and cares about student success. Very blunt and to the point.
This professor was amazing. Only three main tests and then the final. Do the homework, that is the main point of class and that is how he teaches. Drops the lowest hw grade and quiz grade. Do the course evaluations at the end of the semester so that he can round up your grade if needed. Overall, he taught well, was nice, and has a sense of humor!
This was the best professor I have had so far. Very helpful and explains things so well... was always very thoughtful and would stay after class to answer any questions!
His teaching style made the class so much more straightforward. He encourages the class to participate but does not force anyone. His teaching style and way of presenting the information is clear, concise, and organized. His office hours are accessible which is amazing for extra help. Overall, one of the best at UNG
Professor Serkan's class is challenging but rewarding. His teaching style is clear and organized, making the material straightforward. The homework is intensive, but great practice. Utilize unstuck study along with the textbook to stay on top of the coursework.
Serkan was a good professor; Gave us many short-cut solutions to problems that were much easier than what the textbook wants you to do. He is sort of strict and can come off as mean; if you ask him a question he already answered, he will kind of make fun of you for it. I didn't mind his attitude, and I appreciate his willingness to make things easy
Dr. Serkan is the best math professor I have ever had. The class is lecture heavy but engaging and he is really good at making sure everyone understands. The best part of the class was the homework was very similar to the test meaning that if you could complete the types of problems on the homework, you are ready for the tests.
RUN. Thought I would like this class because of the rate my professor but if you are registered, leave. The definition of mean and does not care about his students in the slightest. 70-90 questions for homework with multiple parts each time. Be prepared to spend 7-8 hours a week on this class. Will dismiss you ALWAYS. Very unkind to all students.
Dr. Serkan is a great person and professor! He really cares about the students in his class. He is very clear about what is on his tests. His tests are very straight forward and reasonable. There should be more like him that don't put up with crap! He is very smart and can be rude if you behave like a kid.
He is a very nice guy and funny but his class is a lot of work and hard. There are around 9 quizzes and 9 HW assignments the HW each week is around 150 questions and takes about 3 hours to complete. there are 3 tests and one exam which I found to be very hard.
Serkan often gives out random extra credit and curves. Mutual respect is a must in this class. Show up on time and participate. Take good notes; you'll be able to use them on quizzes. Super flexible with deadlines. Lectures are engaging but dense with info. Prepare to memorize a lot if you don't take good notes.
Amazing Professor. you have homework outside of class, but it is not that bad. He places more emphasis on effort, showing work, and understanding concepts over being correct. He is also very patient, knowledgeable, and good at explaining more than one way.
Great professor, has clear and understandable lectures with homework that supplements your understanding. Probably one of my favorite professors in my two years at UNG.
He is the only person ever to get me interested in math. He made math clear, offered study groups for those not grasping concepts. Make sure to do your homework throughout the semester. He is available after class and during office hours to help with any issue you have. He is the perfect professor.
Really stand up guy. You have to come to class to pass but he explains material well. Tests and quizzes have lockdown browser and there's a lot of homework but his tests and quizzes come directly from the homework. He also gave us one front and back cheat sheet during tests. Just do the work and you will do good.
Hard to understand his accent, but his method was good. attendance is not mandatory but if you struggle with math you should go to every lecture. he teaches how to solve problems then gives 100 problems to work on over like 1-2 weeks. if you do the homework you will probably understand. also he gives a lot of opportunities to ask questions
Dr. Serkan is the best math professor I have ever had. The class is lecture heavy but engaging and he is really good at making sure everyone understands.
