Was difficult to understand his quizzes at first, but after about half the quarter I figured out his system. You MUST read the text to know what's going on, he tests directly out of the text.
This class could not be made interesting even if Brad Pitt taught it, but I enjoyed Shelley a lot. He's very funny and he grades generously. You must study A LOT for him, but he's pleasant enough to make it worth your while.
He's a good guy. He always tries to be funny in the class. Focus your study on what he shows you on his slides. He'll definitely asks most of the question in the test from his slides. Be prepare to have quiz everyweek before the labs. He's a nice grade, though.
Great teacher, I took this class a year and a half ago and we still chat when we run into each other on campus. His class was a lot of fun and he would change around labs that he heard had never worked and would make them work (extracting DNA)
He's very funny but he takes forever to get to the point. We spent 2 hrs on 2 problems...
If you don't mind teaching yourself through the book then take this professor, he's really laid-back with labs, but you MUST read on your own, he doesn't lecture very well. Tests aren't that hard if you do the problems at the end of each chapter.Lots os studying on your own though, he doesn't teach much.
Well, if you like to do your own work and learn everything from the book hes your guy. I think everything i learned i got from the book. he isn't very good at explaining things and doesn't finish problems. Very Lenient on grading and labs though so it wasn't hard just if your used to your teacher teaching then don't take him.
hes pretty cool
tries really hard to make a tedius subject fun...that being said he can be rather unclear. TONS of homework. Plus, youd better do it or youll fail on the test, cuz we do about 3 mins of actual chem for every hour of class.
He has a good personality. The classroom atmosphere is very relaxed. A lot of self teaching. You can ask him something but it'll be a few minutes of random explainations until he answers your "question". He'd be a good teacher if he even taught 30 mins of chem in an organized pattern. Like you don't really know what to expect each day in class.
this is the worst teacher ever! there is no organization to the class. i mean come on.... he was explaning to us how to use a bunsen burner for 20 min!!! i haven't learned anything new. the teacher is soppose to teach, i have done nothing but teach myself how do things in his class. take chem with another teacher!!!!
NOT CLEAR. He actually distracts you himself by talking about everything except the lecture. Lecture probably takes about 10 minutes of a 2 hour class. He is nice though.
Was very disorganized early on in the quarter. Often appeared scattered. Class got quite a ways behind. Asks questions on quizzes/exams that make you think about what you've learned, not just regurgitate stuff from the text book. Overall, a pretty good instructor - just needs to improve on organization.
Though the start of the quarter was relativelty unorganized and unclear, he proved through time that he is indeed among the most commendable, scholarly professors out there. His assignments are both stimulating and material-geared! If you are a slacker, though, resist from taking his class- as excessive self-teaching is necessary for success.
went off on tangents wayyyy too much, otherwise he would be an excellent teacher.
Indeed this teacher is unorganized, distracts the students and himself, then talks about a different subject from the lecture. There are 3 exams, no lab write ups, and no inclass quizzes besides the lab quiz. Takes forever to answer one question, and when he answers the question, its not the answer you wanted. His laid back and easy to talk to.
Tests are based on the book, lectures and handouts, but you are responcible for determining what is truly important, he says, if its in the book you are to know it. He is very scattered in class lecture and we are off schedule from the syllabus by weeks! Never would take a class with him again- or recommending him to pals. Focuses on Chem LOTS!
Goes off on tangents alot. Goes over material very quickly, staying on top of reading a must.In his class, you will be teaching yourself alot. Also, quizzes can be sneaky. He calls it 'a level of detail' that seperates the A students from the others.Overall he is funny and well-intentioned. Willing to help you if you approach him. But no spoon feeding.
Great teacher, always interesting and makes you laugh while explaining relative content. Very highly recommended to any other science teacher I've had
The class is straight forward (just read the book)& pay attention 2 his lectures. He has a good personality, funny, very intellegent, makes the class interesting, & not boring. The downside, he's disorganized but overall highly recommended.
he's a nice guy. Sometimes talks about things that way off from the lecture, but not too often. The tests are easy, he gives practice problems that are very similar to the actual test, pretty generous on the grading too. But i think it requires you to do lots of self teachingto get through this class with an A
He was one of the worst professors I've ever had. His lectures were very unorganized and alot of the time, he would go off topic. I would not recommend you take his courses.
If I have choice I will take all the chem classes w/ him. I mean he is the best one.Easy A. Just read the notes and PPT he posted online before the test,u will get an A for sure!
i did not get an A eventhough i studied 100000times for everything. there must a problem with instructions in the class!
He was really really nice to me on multiple occasions I think because he saw that I was trying hard. He is very accomodating if you honestly want to learn. Quizzes can be tricky, the key is to read the mulitple choice questions at the end of the textbook before the quiz and memorize the answers. I liked him. He's a Leo/Virgo cusper.
Christopher Shelley is a great professor.... he make's things easy for u ... once u take his class, u'll start liking him... he's really funny.. i have taken BIO 101 with Chris and i'll recommend u all that if u wanna take bio 101, just take Chris...

He doesn't cover most of the material in class so you will have to teach yourself from the book. However, if you do the suggested problems and read the book, you will do well because the tests and quizzes are relatively easy.
Chris is a nice man. Easy going, good sense of humor, and always helpful. He expects what all professors expect, and that is for students to do the work needed to do well. His expectations are fair (not easy per se). My only complaint if I had to pick one is, he can get distracted sometimes during lectures and end up less than to the point.
Lectures started out jumbled, improved as quarter progressed. Leverage his office hours! I studied with many students and those that struggled generally just did so because they did not study. Do the practice problems repeatedly and make note of anything he goes over on the board. He covers a lot of material but makes up for it with easy grading.
nice guy. you need to study a lot from the book to do well. his tests/quizzes are hard but he grades them pretty easy by giving lots of partial credit.
He doesn't care if anyone in his class understood the material. If he is okay with you, you really don't have to be worried about your grade, otherwise he'll screw your grade.
He does not really teach the material in class. You must be extremely proactive in your approach to learning (teach yourself from the book) to ensure sucess in this class. I will NOT be taking him next quarter and although he is a nice guy I feel he is a poor teacher.
Chris is a great teacher! He's really funny and makes the class fun in general. Read the book cuz he has a tendency to go off on unrelated tangents when you ask questions. Overall a really good teacher. If you show him that you care and are trying you'll pass no matter what your "grade" is, he'll make it better. No homework easy exams!
Very good teacher. Does his best to try to explain things to you. His powerpoint outline is exactly like what's in the textbook, so just go through it and you'll be good. Very down to earth type of guy. He expects you to study and sort of know what's going on, but is willing to clarify for you even further. I also had him for Chem 140.
I LOVED him!! He kept the lectures interesting by adding anectdotes and funny little comments. You do have to be sharp and pay attention, and he was a little disorganized as far as notifying us when to expect tests, but I would absolutely take his class again, he was good at making the info stick in your memory.
Chris Shelly is quite a lenient professor when it comes to attendance, labs and homework. He has a great sense of humor and his class is generally entertaining. Do not expect to be taught a whole lot in class and be prepared for a lot of self study. He is a bit disorganized when it comes to managing the syllabus. Tests are moderately difficult.
nice funny helpful teacher. good class with good teachr and good grade if you attend and study.
Not organized. Does not tell you what to study for and then will quiz you on it. Waste a lot of class time talking instead of spending more time going over the chapters.
chris is a great teacher!!!suckas that dont want to put the work in say hes bad but they are just lazy fools. hes pretty understanding of any situation as long as you arent afraid to talk with him. all around good teacher.
Chris is the best Chem prof that I have ever had. I wish that he would teach beyond the first few introductory classes. Here is some advice: If he seems to be going on a tangent, listen and take notes because it really is relevant and it may show up on the exam. Study what he talks about in class and you should get an easy A.
Chris Shelley is a great teacher for Biology! He is very organized, and if you pay attention in class and go over the textbook, you'll do fine. The class material is hard, but Christ does a great job teaching it.
Great professor! Took him fall 2008. Easy to understand, very helpful if needed. Make sure not to miss any labs.
(ONLINE) You can get out of the class what you put into it. It does get harder as the class progresses. Assignments were straight forward. Quizzes, tests and lab assignments were reasonable. Not a lot of interaction from the online instructor. If you like to read and do it on your own, this was a good format. Chris was quick to reply if asked
Chris is a great teacher. He is dedicated and it shows. He is one of the smartest instructors I have ever had. It was truly a joy to go to his class! If you are a hard working and enjoy having fun while learning, take a class with him. You have to work for your "A" but he will guide you every step of the way.
Excellent professor. Incredibly engaging with material that can often be dry. You must study the book and do your homework. This is not the class to sleep through. Very helpful if you go to him with questions. If he goes off on a tangent, be sure to restate your question again if you feel he didn't answer completely.
he is one of the most horrible and boring teacher i have ever had. I tried really hard to pay attention to him but i ended up sleeping or leaving the class because his lectures were useless. I studied on my own and would not recommend his class to anyone at all. He's always off topic!
Super funny! entertaining, all around good teacher
DO NOT TAKE. More than half of the class failed every exam. He barely taught anything during class.
Chris is a great teacher! He is my favorite chemistry teacher. Pay attention to what he says in class and do the homework problems that he recommends and you should do fine.
There are only test and quizzes, no assignments. His lectures start off alright but he gets side track ALOT. He mumbles his words and it is extremely hard to understand. The quizzes and test aren't that hard considering there are only 5 questions in a quiz. But I could read my text book and do better than coming to class listening to the lectures.
If you are good are reading your book and learning from that then take him. He lectures on barely anything at all and gets side tracked a lot of the time. When he does lecture he lectures on concepts mostly. Barely any of the algebra.
Quizzes and tests are very fair as they are basic checks of concepts you should know. Provides online practice quizzes with answers that are very helpful when it comes to quizzes. Read the textbook prior to his class so that the lecture will make sense.
Online class, but you are required to come to campus to take the test(not told prior to registration). Book is very confusing, and the online practice tests have nothing to do with the real test. Be prepared to explain your answers in complete sentences since the tests are NOT multiple choice. Not sure how I passed this class but grateful I did.
Lectures are SO hard to follow; he's all over the place. There were no test reviews, quizzes weren't out of the book & they were never on the dates he said. Out of 45 people in the class I was in only 8 were at the final exam. This was a 2 hr, 2/week class with a lab, & we spent maybe an hour in class each week. Take his class if you want to drown!
Shelley's a nice enough guy, and a good enough teacher. He's sometimes a little hard to follow, and his tests and quizzes pertain heavily to what he talks about in class. If you pay attention, you should do fine. My one complaint is that he doesnt assign much work and a test score can make or break you in this class. Again though; its notthat hard.
Professor Shelley doesn't hold your hand, but in my opinion, college instructors shouldn't. The concepts build on themselves... If you miss them the first time around then they're hard to build on. Take the time to read, work through problems, and review class notes and you'll succeed! He's entertaining and offers to help regularly!
He is a nice and humorous person. I believe that as an individual he is very intelligent when it comes to the subjects at hand. But as a teacher he can be hard to follow at times. He does not always follow the class rubric either. Overall, I would recommend him as instructor to anyone though!
The best ever! He never asks for homework wasting our time! If you have a previous knowledge about chemistry, you should take him for sure!
Really excited about teaching. If you must take chemistry you would be cheating yourself if you didn't take a class from Chris S.
I took Dr Shelley.Honestly, he is nice and very helpful but you must read your book and work hard by your own. If your overall is A, you don't have to take final exam.
This isn't the type of class where you expect to know everything by listening to the lectures. You're going to need to spend time reading the textbook on your own for an A. If you are very serious about learning, don't take this class. Shelley will often times get distracted and talk about something irrelevant. His jokes are pretty funny though.
Shelley is so easy. Take him if you want an A. You will do a lot of work on your own but it is totally worth it. TAKE HIM
I absolutely love this teacher! He is so nice and helpful. Yes, he can ramble on about his family and other things, but he makes the class very exciting and makes you actually want to learn chemistry.
Easy teacher coming for a freshman class. Rambles and over explains, but I knew most of the material already so it may be better for the in-experienced in chem.
I have taken 2 chemistry courses with Dr. S and have really enjoyed both. His classes are relaxed and I am always excited to go. He is an excellent professor, he makes the time go by quickly and he has great jokes! He is very nice and understanding if you have any problems or questions.
Shelley is quite the character, he's outgoing and makes the class entertaining. He's class was extremely easy since he really didn't require us to do much work; take-home midterm, a final that didn't affect our grade, skipped several labs, and 1 quiz. He skims through each chapter and for the rest of the class period, he just tells jokes/stories.
CHRIS IS THE BEST CHEM TEACHER AT BC. SERIOUSLY. If you can take his class, DO IT, eeven if its at 7:30 in the morning, it will be worth it!
If you want an A take him, but if you want to learn dont take him, he doesn't give you much information
The moment you walk in to Shelley's class, you have a 4.0. He's a very entertaining guy but a little too easy going. He told the us he was experimenting a "psychological" thing, which is why he assigned NO homework, gave no graded tests or quizzes, or even looked over the labs. I would say he prepared me like 40% for the CHEM 161 class.
Overall, fun class, funny guy. This class was helpful in preparing students for Chem 161162163. There is a lab with this class, but labs are not factored into your grade. Try to learn all you can from this class so you can be ready for future Chem courses.
He is good with answering questions, and a very nicefunny guy. Be prepared to learn the material on your own. What he covers in lecture is fine (until he gets distracted), but a lot of what you need or want to know you will have to learn on your own. You will have an A whether you deserve it or not!
Amazing
Easy, straight forward, and hilarious. Gets side tracked easily though. Doesn't make the class harder than it should be, which is nice since most of us won't ever use biochem in our future professions.
Such an amazing professor! He really teaches us the introduction to organic chemistry just like the course says. He's not hard at all but is super funny, talks a lot, and will definitely inspire you to be a happier person. Love love loved him! Easy A
Okay, if you WANT to learn from him, you will, but it's not necessary to pass the class. He'll give you an A, pretty much whether you show up or not. If you want to learn the subject though, he will help you and his lectures will stick in your brain because he makes them enjoyable and funny.
Chris is a great professor--really chill. After lectures, he asks if there's any questions and any additional help he has office hours in the science center during his office hours. The textbook is used mainly to prep you for lectures, homework is not really expected but suggested to take higher level courses.
Gives good lectures and posts lectures on canvas for review. Suggested to use the McGraw-Hill biology homework to help you succeed in the class, but there's no homework mandatory/assigned.
Shelley is a funny prof. to be honest. He talks a lot about random stuff during his lectures, including his "kingdom of Shelley" which refers to his family. Anyways he basically doesn't give hw or tests. If you really want to understand something don't take him, ESP if you wanna move up to 161. Take him ONLY if you want A and nothing else matters.
Shelley was a great professor. He was super funny but he also seemed to care about his students. He answered all questions that I had. If you study what he goes over in class, you should be able to get an A.
Gives most people A's no matter how well you did in class, as long as you show up and did OK on the final exam. Very funny and nice, offers help outside of class, but he gets off track during lectures easily. I'd say a good 40% of the class was him telling (funny) jokes. If you want to do well in future CHEM courses, be sure to study on your own.
Really funny teacher. If you are looking to major in chemistry or if this is your first chemistry class then I might suggest NOT taking this teacher. His CHEM 161 class is easy and even easier if you already have taken chemistry in high school. You don't learn much in class so stick to the textbook. Talk to him a lot after class.
Chris was a super funny professor! He made lectures fun and easy to listen to. He likes to draw with his lectures which is funny. He assigns homework but does not require you to turn it in, it's for your own benefit. He doesn't take attendance but you will miss information if you miss a class day. I would definitely take his class again!
I love Chris! Super funny and awkward! Everyone gets an A. You dont need to come to class, we dont do anything the majority of the time. He gives take-home tests, we dont ever turn in labs. So if you are looking for an easy class just to fill the requirement take his class. If you are looking to learn then I would recommend taking another class.
He might not be a great teacher, but is a great person. I really enjoyed his class.
I LOVE Chris. I am currently taking him for Biology 160 and he is an amazing teacher. He is hilarious and will make the hardest topics fun and easy to understand. I am not great at biology but with Chris, Ii understand biology and have found a love for Bio. He grades very easily and if you want an easy A, take him! JUST DO IT!!
Chris Shelley is actually the best teacher of life, I seriously enjoyed his class so much, he is one of the most hilarious teachers I've ever had, he makes biology fun and easy to learn. Not only that but he actually cares about his students! We love you Chris Shelley, stay cool!
UM so his class was literally a joke. He's an amazing person but terrible professor. I got an A and I can't tell you the first thing about biology. If you want an easy A and to never come to class, take him. If you want to learn biology DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS BECAUSE YOU WON'T LEARN UNLESS YOU READ THE TEXTBOOK AND TEACH YOURSELF.
He is really nice. Did not have mandatory attendance or homework. I did not even buy my book. However, his lectures are different. His teaching technique is not usual. He uses a lot of outside stories and attempts to relate them to class. However, it helped me remember certain things. He is an A and not a tough grader. Questions are answered.
Look under your chairs, you get an A, you get an A, EVERYBODY GETS AN A. But seriously if you failed bio before, you need something for credits, or dont plan on continuing bio, this is your best class if you want to actually learn for a long term career where this information is applicable, RUN, You'll get so many As you'll get tired of it
Funny, sometime mean, overall good professor. I recommend for Chemistry 140. Not a hard grader, easy class.
I think he is a very relate-able teacher. Makes class really enjoyable so I am not sure why anyone would want to skip. He is super funny and I think he is very friendly. I really enjoyed sitting in his lectures! He is always in the science center for help.
Easiest teacher of all time, but don't take if you actually want to learn anything about biology.
Yes it was an easy A but, Chris is super intelligent! If you want to learn in his class you totally can. You have to be self motivated. He makes himself accessible in the science center. You're paying all this money, go to class. He's such a nice and friendly guy! Don't let his goofy side fool you, he's super smart. Just a laid back teacher!
I loved him as a professor! He is very energetic for his classes which made it more fun! He makes the topics relatable, (as someone who never liked bio) he made it very enjoyable! The day if the final was awesome, (you have better heard of the song Thunderstruck by the end of the quarter!)
I rated the professor the lowest possible because the class moves super slow, you barely learn anything. Approaching the end of the quarter, I feel as if I wasted my time and money for this easy chemistry class. Do the placement test, TAKE 161. Really take this class if you are not moving up to 161, this is an easy lab science class to get credit.
Chris is very smart, but he is lenient when it comes to grading, participation and exams. Don't invest money in a textbook because you will show up & pass. Now, if you actually want to learn something about Chemistry (for a future class maybe), don't pick this instructor. If you still want to take him but prepare for CHEM161, learn from the book.
He is hilarious and his classes are fun to attend. If you are easily offended, don't take him. He is intelligent. If you have questions about anything, he makes it clear and make sure you understand it. He is fair.
I miss that class. He's witty and understanding. It took me a few quarters with different teachers to realize that Chris is in fact an awesome professor.
Chris doesn't grade anything, its in more than halfway through the quarter and we are just now having our first quiz and its a take home. If you want use it for review, take it. But don't expect him to prepare you for Chem 161. And he jokes around for about half of class.
whelp hes a good teacher but doesnt really go over that much. Dont take this class as a prep for chem 161. NOT A GOOD PREP TEACHER. Take him for an A, but other then that hes cool.
worst professor ever. doesn't take teaching seriously at all. we learned barely anything, he just jokes around in class. disorganized, boring, lots of busy work.
this teacher is fun in class. if you want to learn or have question you need to go to his office hours. he is more serious and will explain better. if you are will to be prepared some question, he will help you understand.
Originally the class was supposed to be in person (Spring Qtr). Because of COVID, it was moved online. Prof. Shelly is a very fun and kind person, but he is definitely not a teacher you want to have online if you actually want to learn chem. Essentially, the whole class was just read a chapter of the textbook and complete the homework, no tests.
Mediocre professor. Took his online class. He is a very funny professor and often pokes fun at students. He cares about his students but you have to ask questions. Lectures were sometimes very disorganized. Class is an easy A, just show up, read, complete labs and the final.
Such an organized and messy online class
Really upset experience, this instructor was not caring about students at all, made a lot of mistakes during the lecture, even missing the class. Not recommended at all, really poor quality.
Chris class is great for people who learn by working through examples. Lecture time was used to review what you read in the textbook & assigned workbook problems. He will go over concepts as many times as needed for you to understand but is a big joker that doesnt always vibe with everyone. He was very clear on what will be graded in lecture.
Awesome professor. Easy class. Just learn stuff without being tested.
He's hilarious! He made summer quarter awesome. No tests or hw. Just one final exam (same problems as workbook). You work on the workbook on your own time throughout the quarter. There are also lectures where he'll go over things but most of the learning you do from the book. He made it so stress-free! Just watch the videos he posts as extra help.
Very unorganized. He gets distracted easily during lectures and would talk about random things. He doesn't give out clear instructions. He never updates grades at all. His canvas is outdated because there are some assignments from last year and it's confusing to find out which ones you work on. On a positive note, he's funny and interacts well.
Laziest prof ever! VERY easy class. Uses a better prof's curriculum, which he clearly didn't check first or bother updating (broken links, links to other classes, & other prof's name everywhere). Only graded assignments twice, halfway, and after the end of the quarter. Raises scores to make himself look better on paper. Unprofessional communication
You get out of this class what you put into it. He doesn't really teach but will explain concepts if you come with questions. I enjoyed his humor but if you're easily offended, don't take him. Easy grader, emails back quickly and is really caring.
Chris was an amazing professor and I enjoyed taking his class. He was hilarious and very laid back but if you are easily offended you may not appreciate that. You get out of the class what you put in since he grades by participation and the final exam. Make sure to ask questions otherwise he will assume that you know the information already.
Professor Shelley Is an awesome Teacher. Before you take his class make sure you watch his syllabus video to prepare yourself for the course material. I was hybrid, we would meet in labs and do the rest of the work on our own. If you're looking for a lecture about the textbook, search for the chapter on YouTube.
Easy A! Show up, do the lab workbook assignments and participate. He didn't grade on much. The only graded work was the final. We could use the front and back flaps of the lab workbook for our notes on the final. A lot of dad jokes though. Easily distracted but helps you if you ask. Not everyones style.
He was really chill and could tell he wanted his students to succeed. Super funny too I really liked his personality. Boring lectures though but what lectures aren't boring? Only graded assignment was the final, which was scary, but it ended up being really easy, just 20 questions and as long as you practice the homework you are golden.
An extremely tolerant professor who gets an A easily.
Professor Shelley is a wonderful teacher, I thoroughly enjoyed his class. He is very knowledgable and his sense of humor is amazing! He made summer quarter very stress free and very fun!
This is my first chem class, and there is very quick pace. You basically just read the book and study for the final which is the only grade. During lectures he just jokes the whole time which distracts from learning, and he overcomplicates everything for a beginner chem class. Had to watch youtube vids instead because I was just distracted.
Get ready to do a lot of self studying. Lectures are super long because he barely teaches, if he does he jokes around a lot and over complicates things. YouTube or any other learning source will be your best friend. Only grades 2 things- a quiz & the final. He VERY vaguely answers questions from students and gets annoyed if asked multiple times.
Professor Shelley is a funny person if you aren't easily offended, but he is a terrible teacher. You will learn nothing and be left wondering about your grade and what you should know by a certain point. Only the final was graded, but it is only allowed to be a third of the grade, so the other 2/3rds are free points so it is very difficult to fail.
Honestly my favorite teacher ever, however, you have to learn almost everything on your own. I didn't do that, so now I'm cramming the day before the final.
There was no grade other than the finals. His lectures are full of rambles and it is unclear what he is lecturing about, both in person and online. His old tests are on his Canvas and they are not difficult, but if you don't already know some chemistry you will not learn anything at all.
He is very smart and knows what he is doing.
Professor Shelley was one of my favorite classes Ive taken. Very caring and really helpful. Always come ready with questions because you will go over them in class. Lectures a lot and sometimes it drags but everything he talks about it related to what youre learning. He also jokes around a lot, so if youre sensitive, dont take his class. Lol.
If you want a free A and don't care about actually learning, take this teacher. Getting a passing grade is so easy, I have skipped class for the last 4 weeks and I got 100% on the final.
Those of you who rated Chris poorly have no sense of humor and are easily offended by harmless jokes. If you took the time to get to know Chris, you would realize that he is incredibly caring. This was a very fun, easy class! Would recommend to all!
Shelley's class is a mixed bag - he's funny but not the best teacher. Lectures can drag on, so you'll need to supplement with resources like textbooks, YouTube, and Unstuck AI to really learn the material. Overall, not too difficult if you put in the work.
Shelley was really laid back. Everyone got 100s on quizzes and was given access to previous exams for studying. I took this course because I didn't take high school chemistry, and it was definitely worth it. He explained conversions well, as well as many other concepts in 161. He can go on a lot of side tangents, but he's a great professor.
He is really funny. This class is easy if you already know about chemistry, but he remains motivated, still joking around, even when the class gets involved. Get you cupcakes after the quarter is done. My favorite professor. Def taking this class again.
A lot of reviews mention his humor, but in my opinion, it was irreverent, rude, and distracting. I dropped the class within two days. He spent the first half hour of both classes calling roll, then used the rest of the time to ramble about random topics. I cannot fathom how anyone could learn anything in that class.
I had this class once a week, and there were weekly quizzes. He gets off topic and jokes around a lot. You mostly have to do self studies. Assignments weren't graded and its only the quizzes and tests.
Chris was rude to some students, lectures often dragged, and learning was mostly self taught. The class was fine if you studied the textbook. Grades were not posted until after the quarter, making progress hard to gauge ur grade. He felt insensitive, difficult to question if shy, and his sarcasm was unclear.
Peak teacher icl. He's funny and got off topic but if you asked him questions about the topics no matter how many times he's gone over them he's willing to explain just don't do it when class ends (he doesn't like it) but you had to teach yourself for this class(easy). didn't grade quizzes, no hw. midterm i did so bad on but clutched up on final.
