Great instructor, the lectures are always engaging. If you keep up with reading the tests are easy. Reading is usually interesting. Pop quizzes are easy 100's you just have to go to class. Great guy, he is always funny and entertaining.
Lots of reading. Tests are non-cumulative. Weekly homeworks. Decent amounts of work, though the work itself isn't particularly hard. Easy A if all the reading and homework is done as per schedule.
Best professor I think I'll ever have at Tech. He was a little sassy at times but overall great lecturer and really cares about his students. Have to go to class because he has pop quizzes, but the pop quizzes are extremely easy and you'll get a 100 if you show up. Weekly homework. Never read the textbook, just skimmed and went to lectures.
Awesome professor. Super funny and class is interesting so I didn't mind going. He gives pop quizzes about once a week, but they are simple and you can use your notes. Tests are straightforward if you read the textbook and review lecture notes. Would definitely recommend.
He's the best! Definitely take him if you can! He was sassy, but the fun kind of sassy. Super relatable and easy to approach. You have pop quizzes almost every week, but you get 100 as long as you're in class and do it. You also have weekly book quizzes to take, so don't skip out on those. He definitely got me interested in the field of psychology!
Very enthusiastic about his classes. Lectures are well organized and easy to follow, although you don't really have to go to class too often since his power points come straight from the online textbook that you have to read from anyways.
He is an amazing professor who is very passionate about psychology. His lectures are extremely informative and he makes the material very engaging. He happens to be incredibly sassy (in a good way). In order to get an A in PSYC110 , one must do all the online readings and attend all the lectures. This professor ultimately wants you to succeed.
Great teacher. Interesting class!
Dr. Stanzione is the man! I wish he taught all my classes. His lectures are engaging and easy to follow, and the tests are straight out of what he talks about in class. An important thing to note is that he does give out pop quizzes periodically, so go to class often. I highly recommend Dr. Stanzione, take him if you can!
Professor Stanzione is really passionate about what he teaches. He makes his classes interesting by including videos of Psychology experiments and class examples to help us understand the content better. You can tell he really wants his students to succeed and is willing to help at any time. His tests aren't difficult if you put in the effort.
So lucky for being in his class. He uses vivid examples in class thus the lectures are really interesting and you will never fall sleep! Tests are easy if you work hard. He offers extra credits and getting an A is easy. I looooooove his class! Definitely take his class if you have a chance!
Stanzione is one of my favorite professors I've taken. He's hilarious and relatable and makes class interesting. Tests are pretty easy, I only study about two hours the night before and get A's. There are some pop quizzes but their group-work and everyone gets a 100. The reaction papers seem extra in the beginning, but they get easy with practice.
Stanzione was a very entertaining lecturer who was clearly passionate about the subject. He was very student-friendly and easy to get along with. Just watch out for a lot of reading each week for homework. However, his tests were extremely easy considering how much he prepared us for them!
Take him. Tests are straight forward. His lectures are actually entertaining even if you absolutely hate psyc. He makes me laugh at least once every lecture. Make sure you are on top of the online home and online labs. They're easy and that can really take a hit on your grade if you forget to do it. Take him if you need social science/ethic credit
I had Stanzione for Personality Theory (2240) and it was one of the funnest and easiest classes I've ever taken. There was quite a bit of reading and a lot of papers, but the papers are graded easily and the readings are all covered in lecture. Stanzione is a chill, funny dude and makes it easy to succeed. Would recommend.
Stanzione is a great, respected psychology professor, but in 2240 (personality theory), he makes the class more of a psych elective. You still learn, but not as much as you could. Easy exams if you study the slides. Seems like there are a lot of writing assignments, but they aren't bad at all.
Great great professor and person (uh... professors are still people). Please please follow what he says. Doing it his way is the minimal effort way. Find a friend in that class, study together. Stanzione really does want you to succeed. He REALLY cares about his students. Take him if you can, take the class later if you can't.
Not worth the hype. Sure he's a nice guy I guess but just an average professor.
Stanzione is hilarious, so if you need a free elective to just laugh, then this is your guy. Although personality theory was an ok topic(boring at times), he makes them very engaging and funny. i recommend going to class because the tests are based off of lectures. Also, there are lots of readings, some long and boring, but most are interesting.
Stanzione puts effort into making lectures interactive and interesting. The hw required for the class was quite lengthy and requires a decent amount of time to complete. Tests are not difficult if you study lecture slides and read the textbook, but they are also not a piece of cake since a lot of material is covered. Extra credit is given.
He's pretty decent. Lectures are very engaging! There is a LOT of outside work: reading textbook, weekly 80 question quizzes online, and experiment participation. But I was definitely excited to go to class every day, and I felt like I learned a lot. Tests are all multiple choice. If you put in enough effort, you can easily get an A.
Amazing professor, very engaging with an enjoyable lecture. Lots of reading from the textbook and participation quizzes make lecture mandatory. Want students to succeed. Extra credit was available. Highly recommend.
He was an amazing, hilarious teacher. He really tries to help everyone in the class. He tries to get to know the people in his class, and his slides are always colorful and engaging. He really enjoys feedback and tries to change when needed. There isn't that much homework, and he pretty much gives away what's going to be on tests.
You can't ask for a better professor. You learn a lot and if you attend all lectures and study for about 3-5 hours for the test, you can easily make an A.
awesome class and awesome professor. keeps you engaged
This is one of the best professors on campus and turns a moderately interesting class into a really interesting one. People show up just to listen to him talk and hear his stories. This guy is great and you won't regret taking him.
His love for psychology is a little contagious. He brings wholesome and charismatic energy into the classroom. Take him.
Great guy, very charming. Will make good attempts to understand student's questions and think outside the box. Doesn't allow for late work. Has participation quizzes in class. Solid amount of time will be spent reading. Otherwise really fun class, you'll enjoy it.
I came into the class with the impression psyc was gonna be a boring class focused on memorizing. Stanzione really changed my mind. His enthusiasm is contagious, so much to the point where I didn't even skip a class. He outlines exactly what he expects from you, making the class very doable.
Dr. Stanzione is a fun professor and everything but his grading is awful. The in-class quizzes are worth a lot and he doesn't give any extra credit for doing psyc experiments, instead he takes points off your final grade. He is not flexible at all when it comes to regrades. Exams have nothing to do with lectures. Take this class with someone else
So Stanzione is interesting. He definitely makes PSYCH 1101 very interesting, and you learn a lot. You can miss lecture and be perfectly fine just reading and looking at the PowerPoints. He just easily gets offended and it isn't really the atmosphere you'd like to be in. You will learn a lot and can get the A just by reading (which is a lot).
The worst teacher at GT. Exams are very hard and have nothing to do with lectures. I use to study for 25 hours before the exam. Every week there is in class quiz and two online HW. He is the worst person to listen to. Lecture is boring. If you ask him questions, he will start questioning your knowledge. There was no extra credit. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
He is my favorite professor Ive ever had. He is so fun to listen to and is great at teaching. I love his teaching style, and I learned so much in each class. Going to class is crucial to succeed. Hes also super accessible outside class and very nice and accommodating. He really gets to know his students that come to class.
So much work. It's an intro class, and it takes up more of my time than my upper-level computer science courses. The professor is a "good" lecturer, but can be very rude and dismissive sometimes. Unless you're passionate about psychology, stay away! Sign up for another professor who gives less work (even if they're a bad lecturer).
Mixed feelings on this one. Very nice professor and a good lecturer. However, he has a habit of just making things much more difficult than necessary. For an intro-level class, the work is ridiculous.
Prof Stanzione is def a great lecturer. He makes PSYC 1101 entertaining and interesting. My issue is that there is a ton of homework and reading to do, much of which is not relevant/important in terms of material covered on the tests/in class (ez tests tho). Also, the research paper that we had to write was ridiculously long and unnecessary imo.
Professor Stanzione is great, he really cares about students and is fun during lectures. Got recommend a lot of great Netflix shows!
Stanzione is an alright professor. Yes he is nice but he gives way to much for a 3 credit hour class. The tests are just memorization from the textbook. Apply It Papers are fun. For being a professor that can throw out jokes in lecture he can't take a joke from students and will deem them "unprofessional". Can be rude/sinical at times
Fun and knowledgeable teacher. Difficult aspect of the class is the exams. Tons of studying from the textbook prior to the three exams is necessary to get a decent grade. There are extra credit opportunities and the final is optional.
Lectures are fun and entertaining. Best way to get good grades is just to attend the lectures and do the reading. You're guaranteed an A if you do both of those things.
I love Dr. Stanzione! He's a great lecturer and makes the material very engaging. There's one main project/final paper, some weekly homework and the tests are honestly a breeze if you spend a few hours studying for them. He's always joking around and is very kind to students, just make sure you're respectful and he doesn't catch you on your phone.
Too much reading but maybe thats because its a social science. Kind off okay lectures. Get like a 86-89 in all the tests and get like average 18/20 in all 5 apply it papers he ask you to write and you will get an A.
Easily the best lecturer I've had at Tech so far. He really engages with the students during lecture, and uses relatability and examples to make sure the concepts are sticking. PSYC1101 was an interesting class in general, but he really made it a treat to go to lecture (even in at 9 AM!). He cares a lot about his students, and is very approachable.
Dr. Stanzione is an awesome lecturer. He's funny, relatable, and engaging. He gives lots of homework at the beginning of the semester and then very little near the end. There's a ton of reading if you want to be fully prepared for tests, but you can scrape by without reading it all. A very fun professor, and a fairly easy A with a little effort.
I loved having Dr. Stanzione for human development! He's super enthusiastic and tries to keep lectures interesting. He actually tries to form relationships with students and is really nice and approachable. His tests are fair, but make sure you read or at least skim the textbook. He covers most, but not all of textbook content, in lectures.
Dr. Stanzione has probably been the most chill, relatable, and caring professor Ive had at Tech. He is super respectable and is the perfect Child Development Psych professor because he does his own research in the field. We had weekly discussion posts graded for participation and the exams were relaxed and made very clear beforehand.
Dr Stanzione is one of my favorite professors at Tech. He is so kind and so caring and you can tell that he genuinely wants his students to do well and cares a lot about how they are doing. His 2103 class is very easy if you do what's expected. Almost half of the grade is completion basically and the tests aren't too hard.
Stanzione is a great professor and makes lectures incredibly interesting. He was my earliest class, but he was always cheerful and started my day off great. His tests were also very easy if you paid attention in lecture and read a little bit.
Prof. Stanzione is one of the best professors I've had. He's very passionate about his work and his class reflects that. Lectures are engaging and fun, make sure you take notes and you'll be fine. The textbook is required from MacMillan learning and is used for assignments as well. Attendance is not required because lectures are recorded.
Loved Dr. Stanzione. He's extremely knowledgable about human development so taking the class with him is a must. He's also a great lecturer, often making jokes, keeping lecture interesting, and inserting relevant anecdotes. Makes an effort to connect with his students. Make sure you read the textbook and attend lectures for all the info.
Way too much work for a 3 credit hour social science. Mandatory group "note-taking" meetings + in-class pop quizzes + a weekly paper + textbook hw. Material is very easy but is bogged down with too much needless work. I'm sure I could've handled this class in my freshman year, but taking it with much harder major classes is not fun.
Really interesting class and great professor, but you need to work for it.
He's a very nice guy and teaches the class very well, there are instances where he has dealt with the transition to online classes poorly, but overall a really good professor and I'm sure he'd do much better in an in person class
Absolutely way too much work for a 1000-level course. I took it as an easy free elective to compliment my engineering courses and felt like I spent more time in here than my upper level ME classes. Had pointless group assignments every week, weekly textbook quizzes, pop in-class quizzes, and bi-weekly papers. Psyc is cool but take another prof
Prof Stanzione is straight up goated. His lectures are clear and very helpful, and he sets clear expectations. I got a B purely because it was my fault, as Stanzione prepared us very well. At the end of the day, I learned a lot from his class and he does a good job of presenting the info so it sticks. DEF TAKE HIM
Professor Stanzione expects a lot from his students and sets high standards for them. But he also sets high standards for himself. His lectures are engaging and he cares about his students. Yes, there is a lot of quizzes and homework as others have said but it only added up to like 3 hours a week and I took this class over a 5 week period.
This class was mostly determined by exam grades. The average for these exams were in the low B range, meaning more than half the class received a B or lower. Expect to study hard and still learn nothing.
Tests were very detail-oriented and made up 65% of our grade. Messing up one exam will ruin your grade with no chance for redemption. Stricter grader than any of my other professors, including physics and organic chemistry professors. Offers no extra credit other than CIOS bonus, the only psyc professor I've had that didn't offer SONA extra credit
Do NOT take this class with Professor Stanzione unless you absolutely have to. He was a terrible teacher who had very unclear grading standards for non-tests. Also there was one midterm all year, so if you did not perform well you were pretty much out of contention for an A. I got an A in the class, but I had many friends that are smarter get Bs.
Very kind, funny, and passionate about his class. Textbook is required, there are weekly homework quizzes, pop quizzes, and only 2 exams but it is manageable. It helps to take notes on all of the vocabulary from the textbook to do the weekly quizzes. We also need 4 SONA credits for a grade. Overall very approachable and laid back. Not overrated!
Stanzione is one of the best lecturers I have had so far. He cares for his students asking how our week's are, taking meditation breaks if he feels we are stressed, not expecting too much if he senses we're tired. He tries very hard to make topics fun and interesting. And most importantly he knows what he is talking about answering any question.
Dr. Stanzione is REALLY engaging and funny during his lectures. I always look forward to his lectures because it's enjoyable and I actually learn the material in class. Homeworks are textbook heavy and sometimes doesn't reflect what's required in class. Pop quizzes are given in class after the end of each chapter, and they're really easy.
Dr. Stanzione is a great professor, he makes jokes in class and is very relatable. He always made segways in class to be inclusive of cultural and background differences amongst students and made me feel seen. Going to a PWI can be hard sometimes, but his class made it a little bit easier. Great class, fun topics, highly recommend.
Prof Stanzione truly has made psychology come to life for me. The class itself has many topics that intertwine to an extent, but his lectures narrow the chapters down to manageable information, less than is in the book. There is a bit of an inconsistency between lectures and the book, but that is not his fault. He is a great pick for PSYC 1101.
Literally one of my favorite professors ever. His lectures were super engaging + entertaining. 1 midterm, 3 papers, in addition to weekly textbook HW. You have to go to lecture because there's pop quizzes, but most of the tests rely on lecture material anyway. I do wish he made better study guides/material for exams, but overall amazing professor.
Dr Stanzione is a fantastic teacher and lecturer. I loved his class and would have shown up to lectures even if it weren't for the pop quizzes because he is so engaging. Reading the textbook definitely helped me a lot because it is a class with a lot of material, but if you follow his advice and put in effort, you'll succeed in his class.
If you are someone who is not majoring in Psychology and taking it as a easy class, dont do it. The professor is super nice but the test weight heavily and very detail. Total points you can get is 470, mid term is 100, final is 200; which means 63.8% of your grade is in two test. The final is cumulative and the questions are hard and very detail.
Stanzione is an amazing lecturer and knows how to engage students. The only advice I would be weary of is that there are hardly any tests in the semester, so if you mess up one you're pretty much stuck with that grade for the rest of the class so study accordingly. There are pop quizzes for some lectures, so make sure to attend.
Very good professor, super easy to reach outside of class, and makes psych very fun, as a non psych major. Lectures were very engaging, and even though attendance isn't mandatory I wanted to go to every class. Not a crazy amount of work, but lots of grades go in so easy to keep a good grade. Overall, super good for 1101 and would take again
a bit more work than expected as a non psych major but overall dr. stanzione will make psych interesting and engaging. exams include information that are in the textbook but may not be mentioned at all in lecture, so keep up with both.
Stanzione was a great professor as he made this class fun and engaging. Our homework was completion for the most part other than our pop quizzes which are pretty easy and the annotated bibs we made. The class is test heavy, we had one test and a final that dictated more than half of our grades which were both difficult to get an A in.
Dr. Stanzione was a phenomenal professor. Took this class in early short summer and for daily 3-hour lectures, he was engaging and presented loads of content in an enjoyable manner. Do the textbook readings and that makes the class considerably easy. Would highly recommend this professor for Psych 1101 and this class for a Soc elective.
One of my favorite professors ever. If you care about the topic and pay attention in lecture, you will do well. Tests are heavy weighted and fairly detail oriented. He cares a lot about students and understands if you have issues. Will do anything he can to make your experience enjoyable, very knowledgeable on Psych knowledge
Stanzione was incredible! He's very engaged with the class and the TAs are very accessible. I probably study 4 to 5 hours per week for this class and had no issue getting an A.
Dr. Stanzione is engaging and entertaining as a lecturer. I took this class as a Maymester and he was able to teach a ton in such a short amount of time. The content is intriguing + he makes it fun to want to learn it. If you read the textbook chapters and go to lectures, it'll be hard not to get an A. Cannot recommend him enough.
Prof stanzione is a great lecturer. he trys his best to make the lectures interesting and engaging. the tests are kinda hard but its not very test heavy. there are lots of opportunities to still get an a even if you fail a test.
This class was really fun, but the exams are somewhat hard even after you read the textbook. I feel like the exams were very holistic (i.e. what he says, what the lecture slides say, and what the textbook says). I don't feel like the class was a lot of work, but the exams will carry your grade.
I went into this class not caring much for Psychology at all, but after taking this class, Dr. Stanzione made me really interested in the subject! In addition to the workload of his class being on the lighter side, he's very charismatic, makes lectures fun and engaging, and really tries to get to know all of his students. Amazing professor!
I personally hate psych, which took away from how great Stanzione is. Sometimes, he seems very disconnected if you ask him for help personally, but his lectures are entertaining, and he keeps everyone interested. Very quiz, test, and paper-heavy, but they're fairly easy to get As on throughout. Also some pop quizzes to check attendance.
Dr. Stanzione was one of my favorite professors I have taken at Georgia Tech. He was engaging, funny, and knowledgeable about the topics we studied. He does expect the class to read the textbook chapters because he frequently asked the class to answer questions and provide input on the topics being discussed. Overall, an outstanding professor.
Dr. Stanzione is a very engaging professor in his lectures, but the grading system is mostly what threw me off the most. The rubric is very unclear how things are graded since points will be taken off out of nowhere for whatever reason, despite not stated in the rubric initially. The TAs for his class were pretty questionable as well.
his lectures are very engaging and entertaining. His papers were very easy to get full credit on, I did so every time, and he was very forthcoming with what would be on tests. I would definitely attend his class again.
Professor gives few to no resources to study for the unit tests. Professor feels very inaccessible outside of class and grading for assignments and exams had points taken off for unclear and vague reasons. Hard class to achieve an A average.
I took Stanzione for 1101 as well. The tests in 2103 are certainly harder. However, the rest of the assignments (quizzes, papers, projects) are all pretty straight forward. Stanzione is a nice guy and very passionate about psychology.
The classes and lectures were super interesting. The quizzes were much harder than expected. The papers were graded pretty strictly. There was a lot of support. Opportunity for extra credit. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but there were attendance points given sporadically.
This was a really interesting class overall and the lectures were very entertaining. Professor Stanzione is an amazing teacher and always made the class enjoyable. However, the quizzes were much harder than the lecture content and were difficult to do well on. The papers were also graded harshly making it difficult to get an A in the class.
Dr. Stanzione is an amazing, super funny professor! He makes lectures entertaining while also educational. Quizzes can be a little tricky sometimes (especially since there are so few graded things), but it should be easy as long as you pay attention in class.
Honestly a great professor if you need to take a class for a free elective or just want to take psychology I'd highly recommend taking him. Classes are super straightforward just do the work and you'll pass.
Dr. Stanzione was one of the best professors I've had at Tech! He genuinely cares for each of his students and engages the class during his lectures. I would highly recommend taking any of his classes!
he was very weird and microaggressive, if you're a woman of color, take that into consideration. in general, he was abrasive and rude. despite having ample documentation from DoS and doctor's notes, he consistently gave me 0's on attendance. his TAs were inaccessible as well and they almost never replied to emails.
Completely agree with the other person below. He's very weird about attendance if you get sick and his TAs are nearly impossible to get in touch with -- they take off points for the silliest things with little justification as to why you might've lost points.
An easy, non time consuming class. In class participation is heavy, you're talking and discussing with your classmates every lecture. They randomly check attendance through a QR code. 5 quizzes through honorlock. 2 essays and 1 final presentation that you can record via slides or powerpoint. Professor stanzione made an enjoyable class even better
I love this prof!! His lectures are so engaging and it feels like he cares about his students and tests aren't hard if you attend lecture. I would recommend to anyone looking for an easy chill class that is also fun to go to.
