I have long since transferred from Santa Monica College and I've just graduated from my wonderful university, but Professor Stiles will forever remain one of the greatest professors that I've ever encountered in my academic career. Ignore the one-star reviews because Professor Stiles is the best of the best. Take his classes, you won't regret it!

Professor Stiles is an amazing teacher. I was scared when classes moved online but it actually made the class much easier. He pre-records his lectures into a YouTube video which is much easier to follow and he assigns a 5 question chapter quiz every week. You have to read ALOT. Quiz every week, 3 Midterms, and 1 Final

I took hist3 fall 2020, and it was great!! There's 1 reading quiz per week, which is easy if you read the textbook. There's also a discussion post per week, and a multiple choice midterm and final. He also assigns online readings, prerecorded lectures, and documentaries to watch, but it really helps if you find the material interesting!! Highly rec

Loved Professor Stiles! Once a week you take a 5-question quiz about the material you learned about that week, then a discussion post! One midterm and a final, which are not bad if you study the material. Depends on the week but either there is light reading and watching videos or heavier reading/vid, but not bad. Prof. Stiles is awesome! Take him!

MY FAV PROFESSOR! An easy A but don't be mistaken, you need to do ALL of the assigned work if you want to earn an A, so DO NOT skip any of the readings or videos. The workload is doable and the material is very interesting! One easy chapter quiz plus discussion post per week (drops 2 lowest quiz scores), plus a midterm and a final. Miss this class!

Professor explains everything in great detail, make sure to read textbook, many questions on exams are direct details from textbook. Weekly quizzes, discussion posts on what you learned from the week, has 2 exams, midterm and final. Overall great if interested in history.

The class is easy to pass, but still teaches a lot about the topic at hand. The main information comes from the textbook, but each module includes overviews of different parts of the chapter (you could pass through just seeing the modules). Only things to turn in are weekly chapter quizzes, 2 midterms, and community posts + 2 replies

Prof. Stiles is great! Very chill class but you do learn. Grade is determined by midterm, final, weekly discussions, and reading quizzes. The reading quizzes are very simple as long as you do the readings and watch the videos. Midterm and final are the same, but just make sure to watch the YouTube vids he posts since questions are about those. 5/5

Pretty easy class to get an A in, even if you don't spend all *too* much time looking through the textbook, only getting the basic ideas. Each week's module consisted of answering 5 questions about the week's readings/video lectures and a 150 word board post + 2 replies about what you thought was interesting that week. Easy A if you do your work.

Prof Stiles is a really nice guy. He gives 1 discussion a week. Most are free response and a few are focused response. Quiz every week and **no you won't find any answers on quizlet. timed quizzes. Pretty easy to command F in the textbook for quizzes but not exams (50% of your grade). Can't use textbook for the exams bc there is not enough time.

Read the textbook before taking the quizzes and you'll do well. The midterm and final combined are worth 50% of your grade but they aren't hard at all. If you re-read the book and go through the modules you'll be fine. I crammed for both of those exams and still did good on them. He's a nice professor. Take him if you can.

Such an easy class. Each week was a 5 question quiz based on reading and a discussion that either asked a focus response question (only 3) or what you found most interesting in the reading. Only 2 exams that were very straightforward. He gives clear instructions, and the work is not hard at all; everything can be done in 1 day. Strongly recommend.
