He goes out of his way to help
His course can be very overwhelming, but he is very helpful and will always go out of his way to help clarify anything that you do not understand.
He'll make you learn by being consistent with collecting homework; but his tests are fair and his teaching is very direct. I would definitley recommend him if you want to learn statistics.
Strinden is one of the best teachers out there. His lectures are very clear. You will not have a hard time grasping the concept of what you do with those what he calls "Magical formulas". He explains everything, even the history of where they
Mr. Strinden is an excellent math professor. He uses many examples to support his lectures and offers help for his exams. I found him easy to understand and I learned a lot from him.
emotional but great instructor... trust me, wait until u get into university, u will miss all the great instructor like him back in pcc.
when I took math5A, he gave proof for every formula rather than going over examples.. i don't know I got A and tests were not that hard, but if you are not sure about trig, algebra, this basic stuff don't take his course.. he doesn't like to explain these
energetic teaching but the tests are hard even when you do the homework.
Very energetic man!! He is passionate in what he does. His lectures are full of animation, never a dull moment in his class.
Strinden is a great teacher and very sweet. He gives homework everyday so just don't fall behind. The tests are not too hard and not too easy. I recommend him. Just make sure you turn your phone off in class and don't fall asleep. It's his pet peeve.
If you want to learn what is Stat and get a good great, I strongly recommend. Just study as usual and do your home work and review, you are sure to get A. Don't forget, you won't get easy A without studying.
One of the best teachers. Very clearly lecture. U never feel bored in his class. Pretty loud voice. He can really teach u Statictics. You'll clearly know what is gonna happen in the class, and what you'll learn. Two Thumbs Up, His short-term class is easy
great teacher! do your homework, arrive on time, and read and you will get at least a B. drops lowest test grade and lets you use a notecard with your own notes for each test.
charismatic.....i love him! he is the most sincere teacher i have ever met. he definitely loves his occupation and it shows and, i think, rubs off on his students as well. the tests arent exactly easy but theyre do-able. he gives ec,i recommend him, totall
nice teacher, but he messed up on lacture notes sometimes. his test is pretty hard.
Great instructor. He's very attentive to how well the students are understanding lecture. Tests tended to be difficult--somehow I still got a B in the class. He's very good at explaining things that the text doesn't explain very well.
The Greatest teacher I have ever had. He is so energetic its like having a double espreso every class hour. Take this guy. You will learn tons. Make sure you do all your homework. He will get you if you do not.
Very Enthusiastic! Good teacher. Knows how to use class time wisely. You will learn Statistics.
STRINDEN IS THE MAN!!!
really cares about his students, and his excitement for math will almost have you convinced that statistics is cool
A very good professor who has a lot of energy despite his sickness. I hope he will be well and safe. Good luck to him! May god bless him! ^_^
he is the best stat teacher! if you just pay attention in class and do your homework you should do just fine in his class.
I took Faccuseh for Stat at first but I stunk it up and failed it...so I didn't really have high hopes for stat but when I took Strinden he made this subject so easy to learn....best stats teacher ever!
He is the best stat teacher in pcc!!! He made stat so interesting to study and so easy to understand. his tests are not hard if you do his review test. Wonderful class!
he is so funny whenever he makes jokes. the most important thing is you have to Shut your mouth up when he is teaching. he angries whenever you talk with each other
He is a good guy. Always trying to help others and has funny stories but his tests are very hard and expects the best out of everyone.
His lectures are basic and Mickey Mouse, but then he flips it on you and gives a very HARD test. Worst lecture ever, you don't learn. Be ready to teach yourself 95% of the material. The Solution's Manual is gonna be your best friend.
Where do these positive ratings come from? As a person he's great, as a professor he's extremely lacking to say the least. Lectures and HW don't prepare you for his difficult tests. These + ratings screwed us, the people who signed up 4 his class.Than
He's a crazy, cool, person but I really dislike his teaching style. Way too fast and his tests are nothing like the homework or book. You do have to completely teach yourself. I would stay away!!!
He's a great person but certainly not a great professor. Tests are nothing like the hw or book. But if you are Einstein, you'll have no problem. Einstein doesn't need explaining, he needs pointing. Someone ought to tell him that not everyone is Einstein.
I agree with the last few comments about his tests being hard and teaching method too fast...disregard the posts about his easiness and clarity...they're lies!
Mr. Strinden is THE man, THE MATH GOD. Crazy, fun-loving professor. Very passionate and energetic and very clear on his lectures. Great examples. I do agree that his grading standard is a bit too strict, too harsh. Besides that, I enjoy his class a lot.
come to EVERY class, do ALL homework, he lets you use a note card on the tests, so prepare, and DONT FALL BEHIND! i HATE math, but STRINDEN's class was actually awesome. good guy and good instructor!
He's loud and clear... but his tests are extremely hard! When he lectures, it's all easy problems. Homework is tough and he doesn't go over it at all. He just moves on to the next section instantly... ahhhhh!
Mr.Strinden is the best.He is fair and helpful. He wants everyone to pass, and he tries his best to explain anything anyone doesn't understand. I hate the subject, but he was cool.
he is a funny guy...but his tests are really tough....
Warning! DO NOT take this clown! He is a nice enough guy, albeit somewhat psychotic. I believe most of the positive ratings for him are written by him. Lectures are too fast. Homework is extensive. Tests are difficult math department tests that DO NOT reflect the material covered in the homework!
This class was almost insanely difficult, and I wound up with a D on the final. However, I've gotten straight A's in the previous classes...something of a disconnect here! He's very friendly, and tries very hard to help every student who needs it. However, he's fastpaced, a little unclear.
The best math teacher around the area. Take him if you want to learn something. Without him, I'd probably never understand precal.
Comical, intelligent teacher who knows what he's talking about. Difficult tests, but if you study the material you'll be fine. Great lectures. Students can tell he really loves teaching and wants his students to learn & understand the subject. Very patient & helpful.
Mr Strinden is a very great teacher. His exam is really hard but his lecturer is easy. Sometimes his exam can be easy. He always make me want to go to class because he is really funny. Always make joke.
He has a loud clear voice when he lectures, and sometimes he gets very worked-up when explaining something he finds interesting. Has an abrasive side to his personality, though. Sometimes he'll have you do boardwork and make fun of you if you don't know what you're talking about. Tests are straightforward, but not always easy. Fair grader.
If you want to learn something, then this is the right professor for you.
Hands down professor Strinden is the most outstanding guy. Statistics is not an easy subject plus Strinden makes the subject a lot more difficult, I earned my 'A'. If you're looking to gain confidence in your study habits take Strinden, he will over prepare you for University level education.
This teacher rocks..he can explain every detail in stat,I was confused bcs he teach's da formula from scratch & expln it until u get it, I ono y? I think he said "I want u guys to understand where da formula comes from" test's average, tricky & picky but overall I got an A in da class. He's rich too he'll buy 4 packs of M&Ms just for experment
Very encouraging and has a lot of energy in the class that keeps you awake and going. Always willing to help and answer questions.

I've never enjoyed a math class before in my life, but I actually liked and looked forward to his class. He'll help you until you understand the material. I got an A...only because I worked hard for it.
This is one of the greatest professors I have had a PCC. He is very understanding and enthusiastic about all subjects; Great personality and Wonderful Man. He's a very professional porfessor with a lot to offer students. :D
He teaches really well, good explanations, but make sure you dont miss class because he wants you to do HIS WAY in the tests and EXAMS, although you get the right answer, if you dont do it his way, you will get it wrong.. But if you do his homework then you will do well on his test.
I like the way he teaches stat. All of his explanations are clear and very well understood. Take him if you can. Very easy to get a "B" work a bit harder and you'll get your "A".
GREAT PROFESSOR! doesn't leave people behind... questions encouraged...drops your lowest test grade... gives out prep sheets before test...lets you use book on first test.. lets you use a 3x5 index card for tests... very energetic lecturer so you wont get bored...he might play favorites.. i dont even like math, and i got an A...
Extremely energetic. Lectures are never boring and he gave us a half hour break every lecture. The tests are very hard though.
Nice guy and somewhat funny. Exams are kinda hard so you need to study a lot. I like his personality but not his teaching =(
Statistics is a hard class period but MR.Striden makes it interesting especially with the experiments. He is very caring and he doesnt want to leave anyone behind. Just study and dont take this class with another hard class.
Mr Strinden is a nice guy and always willing to help. He allows a 3x5 card during tests and drops lowest score. This is not an easy class, you will really need to study to get the grades. Also be ready to buy a $100 calculator (ti83)
Very hard class, but he was nice and helpful. He is kind of mean sometimes and very stricted with his loud voice wich wakes you up. I barely past his class with a C, but overall he is ok. You have to show lots of effort for this class, study and study...
Not easy but I liked this teacher overall-- he's funny imo. He covers a lot of material, a lot for the 1st stat class, but thorough and helpful. You get a lot of homework, tests are pretty tricky, final is cumulative but not so tricky. If you study and understand stats, the final is cake. Cheat Sheets, except on the first test, are helpful.
If you take his class, then it must lower your GPA. If your GPA is low, you cant transfer to a good U.so basically, taking his class will ruin ur education.
This class was horrible. The teacher was always canceling classes and he did not do anything to help make up for it. He rushed through the chapters and tests were difficult. He is loud and I did not like the way he taught. He explained things that were irrelevant and it made understanding concepts confusing.
this teacher is horrible.. test are super hard and expects you to do everything his way.. unfair teacher.. missed like a week and a half of class and expected the class to understand everything.. how could u ask for help when he isnt there. take like only 2 classes if this is also one of your classes. be ready to work really hard. take someone else
Hard class. Do the hw and pay attention. Show up for class. I still recommend him. Highly energetic. You will learn stats. Ti83/84 highly useful. I went 3/4 without one but the Ti will cut your hw time in half.
Hard, for sure!
Statistics is going to be hard no matter who teaches it, but Strinden is easily one of the most helpful and best Stat profs at PCC. He's very energetic and keeps your attention. He elaborates on things if you don't understand. This is a really tough class; expect late coffee-shop study sessions every week... that's what I did for a B.
i transferred to his class during the term: I made a great choice! He's knowledgable and enthusiastic about math, kinda a must-take teacher for a math major like me. Tests are not hard, but if you're willing to have deep understanding in math, take him! Math department has him and dr.socrates as the two best instructors.
EXCELLENT TEACHER PASSIONATE ABOUT HAVING STUDENTS INTERESTED AND FOCUSED. VERY GOOD TEACHING SKILLS MAKES YOU WANT TO LEARN HOW U GET THE ANSWER INSTEAD OF WHAT IS THE ANSWER ENJOYED HIS CLASS.
This is one of the rare professors that actually cares about how his students do, and if they understand or not. He is very helpful if you attend his office hour, and will go above and beyond for you if you give him reason to. This was my first class, my first semester back to school and I could not have asked for a more amazing instructor!
It's going to be hard. Read the book, look at the examples from the book. Tests are similar to the examples from the text. He is an awesome teacher, can't ask for better.
He is an very excellent. I like this class so much. His tests are super easy. Easy easy A!!!
AMAZING TEACHER very passionate about statistics and his fun attitude makes you want to learn. To pass you have to study on a daily basis and do the homework,Strinden is very clear on explanations so pay attention. Unfortunately I had to drop, it was a workload in addition to my other classes but I still love Strinden. Take him if you want to learn!
he is easy, but i don't like his teaching style very much.he focuses on how to derive the therem, but i want to know how to use it in tests.so u need to read book, but his tests are from book
VERY NICE TEACHER!!HE IS REALLY HELPFUL AND EXPLAINS EVERYTHING CLEARLY. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!
I took Math 5A and 5B 7yrs ago and thought I would've a difficult time for 5C; indeed, my 1st test was only 70+. However, I found out the way to improve after the first test. I not only complete his assigned homework but also attempt many extra questions; plus I paid attention to all example questions in the textbook. At the end, I aced all 2nd, 3r
---cont'd: 4th test and his final became very easy. I got an easy A at the end. My recommendation to you is: do the home work; know very well about examples given in the textbook. You will get an easy A. However, if your major is math or phys or engineering, you better to understand his class notes even though they are not useful for the tests. :)
he is the best teacher I have ever meet. I learned a lot of stuff from him. And he is very helpful to the acedemic. I recommend everyone to take his class.
Mr. Strinden is an extraordinary teacher!!! He can explain the FUNDAMENTALS deep down about Calculus! I know Math 5C is not easy, but Mr. Strinden can explain Multivariable Calculus thoroughly, even with visualization. Because of his enthusiastic teaching and my hard work, I just need 66% on the final to get an A!!!!!
Great teacher who can teach fundamental understandings for Calculus. if you are more of a formula plug-in person and only want to do the problems, he might not be the choice. But if you are engineering or math,he'll be a great benefit for your career. Because his goal to make you understand the concepts deep, not to solve problems for u on the board
Strinden is, hands down, the best teacher I have had at PCC. His enthusiasm and passion for the subject, his students, and his work are clear in the classroom. I could not have asked for a better teacher. However, this class is definitely not an easy A unless you work for it, but the hard work pays off. Gave me a hug at the end of the semester! :)
Mr. Strinden is GREAT! Stats isn't an easy class but Mr. Striden does an excellent job of making the subject understandable. There are five exams (he drops the lowest exam), one final (which is 25% of he final grade) and tons of homework (only to help you understand the material). Take him and get a TI-83 and most importantly STUDY, STUDY, STUDY
I deeply admire Mr.Striden! He is the best for math 5C :) tests are okay but lots of hws, very passionate about math.I am glad I had him in my career because he inspired me to want to really understand the fundamentals in math. Those of you out there,Engineering, math or sci ppls who have to take up to 55, yo're RLY MISSING OUT if you dont take his5C!
Very easy going guy, listens to your needs etc. Definitely a challenging class. He puts you into groups and allows the first 30 minutes of class to go over hw among your group members. He doesn't really go over hw q's which sucks.Tests are pretty hard, even if you study. Gives a lot of hw. Homeworks are due on tests days.
Mr.striden is down-to-earth prof. he'll explain everything in details. People say he's hard but if you do your hws legitimately, i dont see any reason why you shouldn't do well on his tests. If you seriously want to learn and get a well-deserved A, take him. if u want easy A, then take Riley or Weydahl
simply the best :)
He's perhaps one of the most reputable professors in the math division. He makes the concepts very understandable and makes class interesting in comparison to the other stat classes that i tried to add, which were BORING AS HELL! Although i didn't successfully add his class, the first 2 days i was in his 3 hour class showed me how passionate he was
I'd recommend Striden for any math you take at pcc.I wish I knew him earlier and he teaches every single calculus level 5a, 5b, and 5c.He joked in class that it has been years that he's teaching 5c but he never gets bored with it because he said he feels like he is on his first date whenever he teaches 5c. 100% recommended for serious learners
Prof. Strinden is an excellent teacher. I'd recommend this class for anyone who is going to take upper division stats. There are probably easier profs at PCC, but I'm glad I was worked hard to get my grade--because now I'm taking an upper division stats class (transfer) and everything I learned was worth the effort. I even refer to my old notes!
the BEST professor I've ever had!! He explains thoroughly, and he is very passionate about the stuff he math. He understands what he teaches very well. Take him!
Fantastic teacher! Very energetic! One of the few instructors that actually cares and connects with his students. He even offered us a Christmas dinner with his family if we had nowhere else to go. All around good guy. His class is challenging but he is a fair grader and he drops the lowest test. Take him if you are serious about Math. :)
Material for Math 5c is hard, but he did a great job to explained as clear as possible.4 exams, drops the lowest score. This is not a class for fun, so pls leave if u r not serious. In my opinion,if u take 5c, u must major in sth require high level of math.Recommended for serious learners, not those who want to joke around and get easy As
Yes he drops the last test. But when you ask him a question his response is "I already went over that". 9/10th off the class was lost, "but we must go on" He Talks very, very fast...,Assigns 3-5 hours of homework per day & even more over the weekend, But he is fair. Be prepared to work hard. His homework was only worth 5% of your grade.
I thought STATS was gonna be the death of me! But Strinden is an amazing Prof. He's fun, loud, and energetic. The class is not an easy A but if you like to learn this is the guy for you! And by the end of the semester STATS was fun and now i miss it! Good Luck!
I saw all the positive comments on him. What i saw was almost half dropped after the 3rd test. and i saw many others failed the 3rd test also. I did all the HW, spent a lot of time, i dont know why i just dont get it on the test. He doesnt need book. How did you guys feel so easy? Am I the only dumb one? Please tell me that im wrong, PLEASE!
I am a A student but, sometimes you take a course and they are not compatible with your learning style. I think for me that was the case with this professor. I am a visual learner. The professor is a nice guy. Oh well.Just not for me, even though their are a ton of people who like him.
Try! VERY interesting class LOL
Math and I not great friends...This professor actually made me WANT to come to class and get it down! He has some pretty crazy stories to tell which keeps you entertained. Homework is a must, extremely fair work hard! If you get a bad grade you deserve it, he grades often on how hard you try in class and on homework BEST TEACHER AWARD in my opinion
reasons why you should not take Proffessor striden: His test are long 15-25 questions, gives you short time to complet 1hr 15 min, and since he does not create his test(college students created) That makes it impossible to study for. Do the problems his way or the highway. If you do all the homework and leave one problem blank = zero credit..
Mr. Striden is awesome!! i've taken his class twice. he gives a lot of hw. occasionally gives pop quizzes. Is tough but understanding. He gives out a study guide before the test which are really helpful test are almost identical. Hes funny has awesome stories and really cares about his students take his class!!
Took him twice n it's a challenging class but its fun. He teaches from his mind n not straight out of the textbook because he likes to see our reactions n to see if we understand! His tests are hard but overall everything his really cool!!
Strinden teaches theory, so be ready to do a lot of learning on your own. If you love math and can't get enough of it then Strinden will be a good choice. He will really challenge you and he's a great guy. If you often struggle in math, then look elsewhere because you will be overwhelmed.
He's a very likeable guy, and he always keeps his class interested in the material, while occasionally telling us about parts of his life. He does give out a lot of homework, but as long as you can stay on top if won't be a big issue. Study guides are helpful, they match the tests, and he drops your lowest score. Very interesting professor!
First math class in PCC! I got a B because I never did the homework. I guess it's not high school anymore... homework was about 10 to 15% by the way. He's not the type to just do the homework problem. You can tell he's really interested in math when he starts talking about the interesting history behind it all. I kind of regret dozing off...
I advise you to take precaution before thinking about adding this professor. Strinden is one hell of a guy. He's lovable, super interesting, and cares for his students A LOT. Very strong personality. But when it comes down the it, he IS very difficult. it sucks how this is limited and I can't say much, but if math comes easy to you, go for him.
Great professor, extremely helpful, very interesting, and definitely understands what he's talking about. If you have a question, he will answer it in complete clarity. He's been through a lot, so don't expect him to tolerate any excuses not related to an emergency. Complete the homework on time, and you will pass with an B or higher.
Unbelievable hard. He only talks theory during classes, and then give the most difficult questions which are harder than questions in book. Avoid him, or he will ruin your GPA
Don't take his class, unless you can teach yourself multivariable calculus!!!! He just teaches theory and doesn't do any examples and his tests are exteremely hard.
No one got an A, include his favourite student. Lectures are clear but nothing to do with the test, he even gave the problems which he couldnt solve. He also gave almost half of the class zero on the homework. if you do not want to transfer, take him
Totally doesn't know how to teach. He used the leacture as a tool to express his knowdge. Tests are hard and he doesn't grade on time. Often canceled the classes also.
This class is very hard, in fact, even if you think you've studied enough for the test, you'd probably end up with a B or less. However, Strinden does display a passion for math in his class and makes learning Calculus very interesting. He also gives you a review to do a few days in advance for the test, but don't make the mistake of relying on it.
He spent 2 classes solving the example from the text book, and failed. I think I don't need to say anything more about this professor.
He's very energetic, passionate, and cares about his students. Because of him I'm the only person I know who likes stats! I still remember some concepts even 1 year later. Tests are not impossibly difficult, but not easy either, so this is a work-for-your grade class. I got an A and I earned it!
A must for math majors. Very theoretical when it comes to teaching. You'll be teaching yourself how to do problems from the book. It isn't difficult, but may be quite different than what most students are used too. Very helpful answering questions in class, and in his office hours. Passion for teaching. his tests are simple but can have curve balls
He doesn't know how to teach, just wants to show us he know math well and has passion on math. Tests are hard, more than 1/3 classmates already dropped after the second test. Avoid him if you don't want to ruin your GPA
Sta 50 is a easy class, but this guy makes the course difficult. He love to bluff, want to the students consider him knowledgeable and successful.
No one in the class understand the last chapter, and he told us we could not drop the last test if our grade are not good only a week before the test. (we need to drop a higher grade). That's rediculous
It's unfortunate that I see a lot of bad comments when truly he is an amazing man and teacher! He cares about his students so much, constantly taking his own time to help others, including myself. He is also very passionate in math and teaches it well. AMAZING!
This is the best math teacher I have ever had! I love him! He honestly made me love math! I wish I could take him for all my math classes. He is very clear and whenever you don't understand him he does everything possible to make it easy to understand. Amazing sense of humor. Very easy to get along with and he is very relatable. STRONGLY RECOMMEND!
very hard. lectures are very confusing. loves to talk about his life and how smart he is.
Must study like its your life. Not easy by any means. I'm really bad at math and he teaches like the students know what they're doing. He makes a super fun class though, one of the funnest.
I took Prof. Strinden awhile back and I still credit him as being one of the best math teachers I've ever had. Math is HARD for A LOT of people. What I loved about his style was that he always broke down the formulas rather than just throwing them at us. YOUR JOB: You have to know how to study productively, pay attention, and always ask questions!!
Basically Strinden loves to ramble about his life and all the past surgeries he's had. Half of the time he loses focus on a math problem and realizes he's teaching the class then laughs and blames his ADHD. Honestly not a good prof. He's not there for students and you learn nothing. Unorganized. AVOID IF YOU CAN.
I dropped his stats class. Too confusing and difficult. Didn't break anything down properly. Expected you to be a math genius. He's not for those that are slow at math.
Math is hard. There's no way to get around that, but he's a great teacher. He does a really good job of breaking things down and explaining why they are that way. He is stern if you don't play by his rules, but if you do he's really nice. He will answer any questions you have and will work with you. There's a lot of homework but it really helps you
Great professor and hilarious if you take his morning lectures. he really cares about his students and really wants them to succeed. we used the book sometimes but he does things in his way which personally i liked his way better than learning from the book. use his study guides they are almost exactly like the exams
WORST prof. i've ever had! his lectures were too lengthy & did unecessary steps. expected to read/take notes on sections he runs out of time on followed by a quiz. never knew what our grades were the whole semester. he assigned way too much homework. never answered emails. DONT TAKE HIM!
Strinden is a good professor. He encourage students to ask questions every time he introduces something new and I guess that's what some of the bad reviews didn't do. There is a lot of homework and it requires time and effort (if you have a job beware) but is similar to the test. Overall, he helped me to understand concepts others couldn't.
If you in any way struggle at math, don't take Strinden for calc. He expects you to follow high level math jargon and proofs from day one. The homework load is huge, and tests included material not discussed in class or even material from chapters not yet covered! I spent 25 hours/week outside of class teaching myself. He is a very fair grader tho
He's the best. Enough said.
By far the best professor Ive ever had. Wants nothing but the best for his student and will do everything in his power to make sure you pass the class. If you fail then that is all on you. Need more professors like him
Amazing lectures ! He really breaks it down for you. Doesn't judge anyones math abilities. No question is a dumb question in his class and he really makes you feel that way. Has a small temper. Gives ton of homework but is only 5% of your grade. For someone who is not good at math he has been the first math teacher I've ever had that I finally get
This professor is a really great guy. He is very passionate about what he does and really cares about his students. You really have to be on your stuff for his class. He does his best to make the class interesting telling stories that relate to the material.
AMAZING! Professor Strinden truly cares about his students. You also need to give respect to get it from him as well. He breaks things down so that anyone can understand and never makes you feel incompetent when you have questions or need help. He also provides extended office hours beyond the math departments required time!
I highly recommend Strinden if you want to learn something beyond stats! He teaches you about life concepts, stat included & not. This man has been through a lot and if you genuinely try, he will work with you to help you pass. Seriously just do what he says and you'll be good. Doesn't grade hw but highly encouraged. Tests are everything.
Honestly if you try you wont fail! Hes like the best teacher EVERRRR he might be kind of hard at times but trust hes the best hands down!!! If you dont give up he wont give up on you! Trust hes going to do his best to help you just like how he helped me and I suck at math like I really really suck at math, I hate math. But not with him:)
This is my first year and Strinden is a great teacher. He explains everything down to the decimal and tells stories either related to the criteria or just for fun to be more engaged with the class. He's extremely helpful, kind, and funny. No teacher has ever leant me their own personal equipment just to help me succeed. Hope I get him again. :)
Mr. Strinden made math so much more understandable for me, and my weakest subject in school is math. He helped to develop skills I couldnt grasp in high school, and Ill even go as far to say that hes helped me (minutely) love math.
Hes such a great professor. He does an incredible job of explaining the theory behind all the concepts convered in class. I understand everything on a deeper level than I had in any other math class. On top of that he gives study guides, extra credit, and does test corrections. A very fair and excellent professor.
Started the year ready to put in a lot of effort but this class is way too hard. For homework you get all 7-10 sections every chapter. The tests are unclear on instructions and even though theres only 10-15 questions, it takes the full 2 hours. Seems easy to follow along until you try to do it yourself and realize it doesn't actually make sense.
As a person who is just getting started with Calculus (sitting in with people who took AP Calculus in HS), this class is hard. The teacher doesn't give you formula until he proves the concept first. Even then, he doesn't tell you which formula to remember. When giving examples, he loves to say: (Let x equals to)-WELL, I DON'T CARE-(writes example)
class is just brutal. Never I not understand math this much. He makes the class harder than it actual is and although he does explain the theories behind everything he does that more than actually teaching. Generous and nice guy overall though. Didnt drop with W when had the chance never know ur grades he dont use canvas
He cares about his students and is a great motivator. He is very organized when it comes to lectures and homework. Must attend class. He provides the text book online for free but has you purchase an algebra book of your choice. He allows you to make up a portion of the test if you correct your mistakes. Never been good at math until this class :)
This professor never covered anything that would be on the test. He would talk about random things that were off topic. His tests were difficult because he did not cover all the material on test. He lectured us on things that are from other math courses. He would also yell at us in class. Many people dropped his class. I highly do not recommend.
He never covered the material that we would be tested on. He often lectured us on things that were from other math courses, which had nothing to do with this course. He often rambled on about his past and about inappropriate things. He would skip around in the book, which made it very confusing. I highly do not recommend taking his class.
He's a great person, but would I take his class again? NOT EVEN IF THE TEXTBOOK WAS FREE. He didn't allow us to use graphing calculators so if you mess up on even rounding in the wrong place, your entire problem is screwed. He gives a few homework questions but each question will take a chunk of time to answer. If you like challenges, I dare you.
I was the only one who finished his final on time, everyone else stayed back. You have to do his study guides/practice tests. He modifies them slightly for his test questions. He's usually a nice and charming guy, but when he's mad, he turns into a different person, and the class usually reflects his mood. Often goes off on tangents. Not an ez A.
