3 tests, final, plus optional online test (drops one test, two if you take online test), can bring an index card w info on tests. Attendance and "participation" is done through clickers. Hw is online. Tests count for a lot and mostly based on lectures. Tests can be difficult sometimes but he is very fair, nice and clear. Straightforward L credit
Great teacher! He wants everyone to do well. You can drop 2 out of 5 tests and there is only 1 hw assignment each week. Very chill guy.
This man is a straight up legend. Will do anything to help you out. Really looks out for students.
Professor Taylor makes what may seem like "boring science" and puts an awesome twist on the topics. I really enjoy his lectures, he keeps information straight and to the point. He also does demo's to illustrate concepts when practical. The grading system is spelled out explicitly in the syllabus and is very fair. Love this class!
Easy class. 5 exams including the final and an online one, and he drops 2 of them so just do well on the online one and you're fine. You also have a cheat sheet for each exam. Nice guy, lots of demonstrations and always open for questions. Lectures are posted online but go to class for clicker questions. Lots of extra credit
Great professor, genuinely cares and wants the entire class to do well. Gives lots of extra credit options and drops 2 of the 5 exams (one of which is online). Easy to get an A if you keep up with homework and go to lecture for in class quizzes.
Heres the deal. There are 3 in class tests, one online test, and one final. He takes your best 3 out of 5, so if you do well on two in class tests and the online test then you don't need to take the final or the third in class test. If you do all the extra credit on the homework's and do well on the online test then you will for sure get an A or A-
Prof. Taylor will do his best to give you best possible grade. Talk to him during his office hours if u get a chance, great guy. Lectures are dull sometimes and the course does involve 35% math but totally manageable. Totally recommend him if you want easy science credit.
Amazing professor for any incoming students. Come to class, get your clicker questions right, take the weekly quizzes and you'll pass. If you want an easy science credit I would highly recommend this class. Prof Taylor is literally the nicest professor and actually cares about you and your grade. TAKE THIS CLASS!
This class is great so far. Looking over the format of the course, there is TONS of extra credit. Prof. Taylor came out and told us he wants all to be successful and has designed a course that can allow every student to do exactly that. He is truly the coolest dude that cares about students at BU!
I wish every teacher was like Taylor. He really wants you to do well in the class. If you are someone who is extremely lazy and can't keep up with work, do not take this class. There is constantly work, but it is very easy as long as you put half an effort into it. If you try, you will get an A. A cheat sheet is allowed on tests which helps a ton.
Everyone assumes that this is the easiest class to get your L credit for but you will not get an A unless you work for it. Lectures feel long but there are clicker questions for attendance and participation grades.
Very funny, shows passion, don't be disrespectful he don't deserve it.
Taylor clearly cares about how students do in his courses. He wants every student to do well, be active participants, and to learn some astronomy. His grading system is designed so that all students who put in an effort can succeed with at least a B. In fact if you do the math on it, it is actually really hard to fail the class.
Very good gen ed to take. He wants everyone to do well so as long as you use what he offers you'll be fine. You're allowed a cheat sheet on each test, drops the lowest grade, and you can take an online test to replace a test grade. Plus the material is pretty interesting. He's really cool and tries to make things exciting. I highly recommend him.
I am terrible at science and math and somehow still did well in this class. He is a great lecturer, understanding and helpful professor. Really wants to get students engaged and clearly passionate about the topic he teaches.
He made this class harder. Generous with providing previous exams, and AWESOME at office hrs. Great lecturer, and demos but don't under estimate this class.
Easy to pass, but you should pay enough attention to his course.
Taylor is a great guy. Lectures are long and sometimes a little boring. However, he really cases about the students and his course is really easy to pass if you complete all the requirements. He posts old exams and lets you use a cheat sheet on exams. Go to office hours if you can, very chill guy.
If there's one thing I learned from this class, make sure you go to the lectures for clicker questions and do all of the homeworks because all the answers are online and they're easy points. He gives old practice exams and he offers a lot of extra credit.
This is not an easy A. Tests were mad hard. Do not put them off. Study in advance and go to lecture. Lots of xtra cred and easy questions.
Not only is this class very easy, but Taylor is an awesome professor. I found his lectures to be very interesting. So long as you take semi-decent notes in class and do the easy HW you will get an A. You can bring notes to the exams, but I feel like I would have done just fine without them. There are clicker questions every day, so come to class
Mr. T is awesome. I went to his office hours and he is such a nice guy. He is willing to help all students learn and be inspired by astronomy. I wish there were more astronomy courses at BU as I would love to have this guy as a professor again. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH MR. T!!!!!!
Taylor does whatever he can to make you do well. 3 exams, a final, and an alternative online exam (he will drop your lowest exam score.) There's about 10 online homework assignments and all of them have extra credit. Do not buy the textbook, you will never open it. Just buy the access code without it. Had to go to lecture because clicker questions.
you can have a note sheet for the tests and final. the textbook IS NOT necessary. you need to show up for clicker points. homework and quizzes are online and you can literally find the exact questions and answers with a simple google search.
Super easy class, he basically spoonfeeds you clicker question answers the entire class. Homework is super easy, tests are curved, he's smart and knows his stuff. Very forgiving and generous guy.
Mr. Taylor is a really nice guy. I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Mr. T is a really good lecturer and I learned a lot by going to class. Attendance is required using clickers, but I would go to class anyway. This is a great course and its easy to get an A if you are willing to work a little bit. TAKE THIS CLASS!!
The material isnt super easy but he helps and everything except the tests are easy points- but if you study for the tests and prepare, with the curve you'll do fine. Textbook not necessary at all
Lets you have a full sheet of paper cheat sheet for all the tests and 3 full pages for the final. Do the online homeworks, go to class, and make the cheat sheets you'll get an A.
Took this class my senior year to boost my GPA. Almost took Pop Rock & Soul instead of this but I'm glad I didn't! Even though I wasn't super interested in the subject Mr. T made the class fun. And it's super easy. As long as you show up for the clicker points, do the online exam and make good cheat sheets you'll have an A by the end :)
Mr.T is an awesome professor. To do well, go to class for clickers and ace them, do well on exams (he drops the lowest exam), online hw assignment that can searched up, and allows cheat sheet for exams. The exams tbh are not the easiest, as long as you have a good cheat sheet, you are set. Make sure to get over a 100 on hwss and you'll do well.
Mr. Taylor is an amazing professor, and an even better human being. He gives the student the benefit of the doubt when possible, and genuinely cares about his students. He wants them to learn and equips them with anything and everything they can to succeed. Best decision I made was taking this class.
Easy class I would honestly say the hardest part was showing up and getting the clicker questions right. The class itself isn't too hard you get to bring a cheat sheet to every test. Homework can lead to substantial extra credit points on final grade and the homework itself is very easy.
HE IS HILARIOUS!!!
Best professor I have had at this university. He made sure all his students did well and offered opportunities to improve your grade.
You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he teaches. Some of it is actually really cool and interesting. He does his best to make it as easy as possible for students and helps a lot. Very nice person and cares and puts a lot of work into this class. Highly recommend taking this class.
He's funny and entertaining. Makes a dull subject semi-interesting. Grades come from 4 tests (1 is online) and he drops the lowest grade, homework (you can google all the answers), lecture points (iClickers), and the final. Tests are based off of lectures and can be tough, but with all of the hw and clickers its an easy A.
The easiest class at this school. It's honestly baffling to me that people get under an A-. All you have to do is make good cheats for the three exams, show up for every lecture, and get above a 100 on each hw which you do by looking up the answers. Taylor was the absolute man and you can tell that he loves teaching astronomy.
Mr. T might actually be the single greatest professor in the history of public education. I cant speak for private institutions though, I've heard their teachers are prettttty preppy.
Go to class for clicker questions, stay on top of the homework and do fairly well on the exams(85+) and you'll get a B+ or higher. He is so nice and is very clear. However the material isnt as easy as you might think, even with the cheat sheets allowed during exams.
If you need a Lab gen ed ASTR with Taylor is easily the best option. Clicker questions in class are easy, the three tests are easy due to the cheat sheet he allows, and you can use those same cheat sheets on the final. It's next to impossible to do poorly in his class. There are also graded assignments online but answers are all on quizlets.
Hes the best period.
Don't just take this for easy A. He is the best 'person' in Binghamton University.
Difficult to get in contact with, cancelled more classes than we actually went to. Only plus is he lets you use cheat sheets on the test. All homework is online, don't bother buying the textbook.
THIS IS NOT AN EASY A. Yes, you get cheat sheets for exams; but I still did not do well on the exams even though I thought I made really good cheat sheets. The only reason why I did well in the class was because of EXTRA CREDIT. Do well on the homework, iclickers, and do extra credit and you will be okay. He's also such a cool guy to talk to.
Chris is such a wonderful professor. He's funny and willing to help. The class isn't an easy A, but with minimal effort, an A is definitely achievable. Just remember to do your homework on time. Each hour it's late is 20% off. GO TO CLASS!!! About 14% of your grade is based on iClicker questions. He offers extra credit on hws and an online test.
He is a nice guy, but the class can get very boring. I didn't read the textbook consistently, but I still got an A because of all the Extra Credit he offers. Take advantage of that. Tests are kind of hard just based on lecture, but he lets you use cheat sheets. Take this class for an easy A, but don't expect to learn much if you don't pay attention
Professor Taylor is excellent. Willing to work with you. The hardest part of this class is getting the in class clicker points. He allows you to bring a double-sided cheat sheet to every test. Don't take the class for granted, you can learn a lot of cool stuff if you pay attention but if not you could still do pretty well.
Took astronomy for the lab credit. He lets you bring a cheat sheet to every exam, so they are essentially open note. Be sure to study the math for the exams it can get pretty challenging. All the homework is on quizlet, and be sure to bring and do your clicker questions in lecture for easy points.
He is such a great teacher! He knows that everyone is there for an L credit so he really makes the lectures understandable and exciting. Homework is easy and have a bunch of extra credit. If you know some math than this one is an easy and fun A.
If you show up and pay attention a little you should be in the clear for this class.
What a legend. Although attendance is mandatory and the lecture could be boring the class is an automatic A- and easy A. Just make sure to get the work done and you will be fine. Overall, I enjoyed this class and would take prof taylor again
The teacher is very considerate and puts effort into every lecture.
Best professor at Bing!
He was chill but I found his lectures super boring. When it went online it was nice because the tests were online so you could find every answer online. There's a fair amount of HW but you can also google every question and be fine. In person test was hard. If you asked me what I learned about astronomy in this class I don't know what I'd say.
He really loves what he teaches. Sometimes his lectures were boring but he tries to make parts interactive and fun. You get out early often and he allows you to use cheat sheets on tests so use them wisely. Tests were not bad as long as you actually studied and made a useful cheat sheet. Heavy on HW too but its so easy to do. take this class!!!!
I took this class in summer through an online program which was already hands off on his part yet he was so inconsistent and unavailable. He hardly responded to emails and hasnt even graded our exams yet. He also took forever to upload our assignments. I do not recommend this course online.
Professor Taylor is a very nice man. Theres 3 exams that he lets you use a cheat sheet for and the final. Theres lots of online homework but its super easy to get above 100s on all of them. The exams can be tricky but if you study you should be ok. The lab component is also very simple.
Professor Taylor's class was extremely easy, and he was fairly lenient. I took the course in Spring 2020, it was super easy in person, and a joke once we went online. The material is interesting, and if you do your work, you'll pass. The worst exam is dropped, there's extra credit on all the homework, and plenty of time to get work done.
Doesn't respond to emails AT ALL. Extremely frustrating now that everything is online. Had to turn to reddit for basic questions regarding the course.
Taylor is a really nice guy and cares about his students. Yes, he gets behind sometimes, but he has over 800 students every semester so a little slack goes a long ways. He cares, he is really great in office hours, he has a passion for Astronomy. I for one am glad I took this class. My only regret was that it was remote instead of in person.
Took his online summer class, easy A but mostly because the modules were fairly easy open-book. He forgot to open assignment submission and did not tell respond to emails or address it until after the assignment was due, which was stressful.
He does not care about his student at all. But actually I liked it. He does not answer your email never, but the class is the easiest class I've ever taken. You can google the assignment and there will be everything on quizlet. This is an easy A class.
He does not care about the class at all, so every single homework and test can be looked up on Quizlet for an easy A
Didn't do anything to help us students but the class was super easy. Never answered emails or answered our questions, but all of the info you need for the tests are on Quizlet. We had 1 short paper at the end of the semester which was very easy.
Labs were and easy A; they were straight forward and simple. Never responds to emails or questions you had so if you had a question good luck.
Feel the need to warn against this class. His lectures are very boring and slow, and you don't really need to watch them to do well. All answers for everything are on quizlet. BUT he never responds to emails or confirms exam dates (even though our first two were delayed a week), so good luck knowing anything thats going on. Not worth the easy grade
Chris Taylor does not care about his students. Does not check emails, does not attend office hours, does not make announcements for tests or important deadlines until an hour before. Easily the worst professor I have had here at Bing. His class is easy because everything is online, but he himself cannot teach. Do not recommend him.
Overall, the class was very easy. During COVID, the course was entirely asychromous, which made it difficult to learn. Watching some of his old lecures though, it is clear he is an engaged professor. Warning, he is terrible at communication and doesn't respond to emails. Overall, this is a great class to get science and lab gen ed.
Never responded to Emails, the class is good, interesting and easy. I think he really tries his best but... take at your own risk
Online tutorials. TAs never got on for the lab class, it was difficult to do it on our own. Do not take!
Although he doesn't respond to emails its an easy grade. If you truly care about Astronomy then don't take it, but if you just want an easy credit fulfilled then definitely take this class.
Chris Taylor is an absolute legend. He should be a stand up comedian. I enjoy going to Astronomy strictly because of Chris Taylor. Homeworks are SO easy and tests are not terrible. This class is an easy A and i would recommend everyone and anyone to take this class with him.
He's genuinely a funny guy and makes the class fun. But he is very unclear and vague with the assignments and exams we do. Never get grades back. Doesn't respond to emails. Ideally, this should be an easy class but he can make it difficult to know what you're doing. He is accommodating in certain instances though.
It is not difficult to do well in ASTR-114. Taylor makes it very simple, and if you make an effort to go to lectures, complete homework, and study for the exams you will do well. He's genuinely a nice guy, but his communication skills are horrible. It is close to impossible to reach him, and he often leaves students and TAs alike in the dark.
Chris is NOT a good professor at all. He is extremely disorganized, he canceled at least 10 lectures this semester. He is impossible to reach or ask questions to. His presentations are not updated and he obviously does not care about his job or his students.
Professor Taylor is arguably one of, if not my favorite professor. He's very hard to reach, so if you need to contact him, his office hours are usually the best bet. If you do the work, the class is very easy. A lot of people don't like him because he isn't the best communicator, but I never found it to be a big deal since the class was easy.
Chris is good professor who cares about the content he teaches. He's passionate about astronomy and is a very funny and enjoyable professor in lecture. However, one of his major faults is communication. He rarely responds to emails, and leaves students and TAs in the dark until the last minute. Overall, I really do enjoy him as a professor, minus ^
Easily my least favorite class since being at bing. For a level 100 course this should not be so disorganized and impossible. The material is not difficult but he does not communicate whatsoever and rarely shows up to class which makes this class awful. He means well but this class is such a headache that the A is hardly worth it. Never again...
He was one of the most difficult professors to reach. I'm pretty sure he missed/changed to zoom around 11 lectures because he was "busy". The material was honestly not that difficult and he allows a cheat sheet on exams, but because of his lack of clear teaching and communication, I did not understand anything. He was so disorganized, not a fan :/
Chris is a nice guy. However, he made this semester nothing but frustrating. I took this class bc I wanted to, and regretted it. He cancelled lecture at least half the time, inconveniencing 400 students. Dont waste your time trying to email him, he will not respond. I understand he had stuff going on this semester but his communication was awful.
The class content itself should not be too hard, but I found that he was making the class harder than it needed to be. The textbook only means something for the homeworks, but tests are purely based on lecture. Sometimes, his lectures are pretty hard to follow. Don't expect him to communicate with the class.
If you don't mind if your professor has zero communication skills, then you won't mind Professor Taylor. He rarely answers emails and he is disorganized. On the other hand, he is very lenient and is not a tough grader. The workload is not much at all, and you can do well in the class without trying too hard.
Professor Taylor is extremely disorganized and never answers his emails. The content itself is easy, as is the math, but Taylor makes them seem more difficult than they actually are. He also seems bored/ disinterested in the topic that he's teaching half of the time and acts like we are still in high school.
Professor Taylor is passionate about the material and makes the lectures engaging. If you struggle with stem, this is the class to take. If you put in the effort, you will get an A. He is not the most responsive or organized teacher, but the syllabus makes most things clear. He gives you all the materials you need to be successful in the classroom.
Professor Taylor was very unorganized and only answered emails on a few occasions. The syllabus said we would have two different written assignments but we only did one (not complaining). HW answers were all online and he did not upload any midterm grades throughout the semester.
Such an easy A but he is literally not accessible at all outside of class. He canceled like 5 lectures this semester and postponed another 5. As long as you do the bare minimum you'll be fine, but if you're actually interested in learning maybe don't take this class.
Filled a gen ed with him. He was a great lecturer and wasn't rude about computer or cell phone use. Will let you out early usually. Lots to cover, but uses clear slides and has participated in student experiments. Study mostly for the exams and pay for the textbook website. Attendance was washy with iClickers. You can easily pass the class.
Professor Taylor tried to give a meaningful class. However, his lack of communication and constantly canceling/going online made dealing with this class quite difficult. I didn't get any of my grades for the tests in his class until after the semester had already ended.
Listen. He doesn't respond to emails but he cares, gives 100 for attendance, homeworks and tests are all online if you search, and he's a really great person. If you literally ask for points you get points. People are way too mean. He just was bad at communication, but if you did what you had to do (like the bare minimum), you got an A :)
This class is pretty easy, as long as you do all your homework and the online test. He canceled class many times during the semester, and is quite inaccessible outside of class (he will never respond to your email), so if you have a question try to ask him right after class. Don't skip class unless you know he's not using iClicker.
Chris is a nice guy but is probably the most unorganized person I have ever met. There will be times throughout the semester where you won't hear from him for weeks. Overall this is a good class for an L gen. ed. Definitely try to take this class with friends because it is easier to get a good grade when you have others to work with.
So far, he's not a bad professor by any means. His grading criteria is very confusing and he himself is disorganized (which is why he's a 4, not a 5), but his lectures are fun and he's very passionate about his teaching. He's a rare gem where he's so passionate he gets excited when doing demonstrations. Great guy and makes class fun.
this class was just really unorganized and most of the time i relied more on the group me than the professor. it was hard to know what was going on because everything was really inconsistent and the tas didn't even know what was happening. there are a lot of opportunities to boost your grade (iclicker and online homework)
The class is very easy if you do the assignments. Tests are pretty easy, however he is impossible to access outside of class and does not respond to emails
He's such a great guy that really cares. You can virtually bomb most tests and get an A because you did the homeworks (which answers are entirely online). In the Fall people were really brutal because of classes getting cancelled a lot, but those same people all got As if they went when we had class, collabed on the clickers, and tried on the HWs
easiest class I've ever taken. Chris is disorganized and doesn't post grades or answer emails, but you are guaranteed to do well if you do the assignments (all of the answers are online). TAKE THIS CLASS A great gen ed or math/science elective for psychology
Not accessible outside of class in the slightest; he refuses to answer emails. Constantly unorganized when it came to pushing grades out in a meaningful time period and keeping students in the loop. Easy enough class, with a light course load, but taking it with Professor Taylor is not worth the easy pass in the slightest.
this man's the goat
dont take this class if you can help it. prof is unorganized and all over the place. lectures are hard to follow and dense. exams are pretty hard but he does give a bit of a curve. still, not a fun class. (and im saying this as a junior with a 4.0 GPA)
Horrible prof. Saw the complaints on here about emails, 'cause on 1st day he said he'd be responsive to emails.. Didn't respond to a single person's email. Attendance is mandatory, and your participation is big % of grade. Class is excruciatingly boring. He clearly doesn't want to put in any effort. Kept saying he'd give back grades and never did.
Overall, the class wasn't very difficult. All HW is online (the answers as well) and there's 3 exams. He let us use one cheat sheet per exam which was helpful. However, he never answers emails and doesn't grade anything until the very end. Participation is a big part of your grade through iClicker. Take for an easy A, but imo it's not worth it.
This is hands down the easiest class offered at Binghamton. The homework and 2/3 of the tests are online, which makes up almost half of your grade. Also, the final is optional and only needs to be taken to improve your letter grade. Beware though as he isn't great with communication and doesn't grade anything until the end of the semester.
This class is extremely easy, even for a 1-credit class. The labs can be tedious, but as long as you show up to class and do the online lab test that he gives you about a month to complete, then I really don't see how you shouldn't get an A.
i mean yeah you're pretty much guaranteed an A if you do all the work. it's just if you ever want to know your overall grade...you're not going to until the very last day possible which was the only annoying thing tbh. but other than that, this class is one of those you barely have to worry about.
I'm a freshman at Bing but I really doubt I get an easier A for the rest of my entire college career. The final is optional, your worst grade on a test is dropped and one out of the four exams is online. The professor is also a G so that makes it better.
The class is an easy A, and Taylor is an ok lecturer, but it is so frustrating to deal with him outside of class. He never responds to emails or texts (even when he told us to text him questions about class if we needed) and has not been there for his office hours multiple times. Finding out my exam grades was harder than the class itself.
would never take a class with him again, and did not enjoy it at all, but I appreciated the A and easy coursework. overall an unorganized and chaotic mess of a class.
you will not be able to access him outside of class. he always says how hes a high school teacher, thats the level at which he treats the course. that being said, you wont learn a thing but still pass the course with flying colors if you just show up
Chris is kind of goofy but easy A or B
Extremely fair prof. I loved every class. Cool astronomy, cool assignments. This class was never something I had to worry about. This wasn't an E A S Y A like everybody said, but I prefer it this way. He's fair, and gives you a chance to come back. He's funny, entertaining, and cares about what he teaches. not the best at emails tho WOOP WOOP!
super easy, only need to take two in person tests and one online (all on quizlet). so much extra credit, need a clicker and show up to class, easy A
He sucks at answering emails and grading... but he is an awesome person. I personally did all my HW on time and used quizlet for all answers, AND got 50s on the tests. However, I managed to get an A in the class and am now a TA for him. Such a great guy and easy A if you need science electives!
Impossible to reach outside of class and you won't know your grades all semester, but it is easy and if you do all the homeworks and clicker questions you can do well. You get a cheat sheet for the tests and answers are online. Take class with friends
Chris is a bit of a mess, but this class is an easy A. He's not accessible outside of class, no one pays attention in lectures, exams are easy (1 page cheat sheet allowed), and he tried having iclicker for participation but it didn't work for us. Overall, he cares a lot, is engaging and funny, and very easy grader despite being unorganized.
Chris is not good at responding to emails or communicating with students. Much of the lecture is tough to understand and concepts are not articulated well. Lectures are all over the place and much of the class does't pay attention. Easy enough for your lab gen-ed, but if you're genuinely interested in astronomy and physics, don't expect much.
You will never receive your Exam grades, lots of homework, not organized at all, missed lessons, purchase pearson plus iclicker and students did not pay attention at all. However, he is very passionate about every topic he lectures in class. Little understandable for having a 400 student class.
had to pay for Pearsons account just to do the homework but answers all online. never opened the textbook once, 3 in person tests, 1 gets dropped. u get 1 cheat sheet to use per test. 1 cumulative online test (answers all online). final test is optional. can't be reached outside of class. not great class for learning the stuff but great for easy A.
Chris is an awesome guy with a clear passion for Astronomy, however, the way he teaches makes it hard to learn. It seems like he has lost his passion for teaching, it is impossible to reach him outside of class, he does not stay up to date on grades (and he will not admit that he is struggling to post them, he just lies and keeps students waiting)
Freebie class if you just go to lectures, all you need is to do the iclickers hw and tests, which allow a cheat sheet, and you will do good in this class.
Class wasn't that hard but the way he lectures can get confusing as he flips back and forth between slides. Also not reachable at all over email and doesn't upload grades in real time. Def take this class with a friend
This man for the life of him cannot post a grade. Very easy class tho, j do homeworks and all tests you get a reference sheet. lectures are pointless, but he does IClicker questions to take attendance. there are Online homeworks, but all of the answers are on quizlets. Overall, very good prof, but takes FOREVER to grade
Honestly, if you take this class with your friends, you'll be fine. Not a lot of people actually listen in lecture, and there are so many extra credit points awarded on the homework/online alternative exam. You'll be fine if you do the assignments/take all of the tests. The final is optional, but we still haven't gotten any of our grades back
I like the course, it's clear he's passionate about astronomy and he is always finding fun ways to demonstrate lecture concepts. I would just really like to know what my grades are before the end of the semester.
I did not study for a single exam and got an A because he only grades on the online HW (do it and get all extra credit points) and the online exam. Everything can be found online so I put close to no work into this class
you'll probably get an A but never know til the end of the year because he never grades anything lol but really cool chill guy
This class is very easy, lots of extra credit and easy cheggable work. he never grades anything so you definitely wont know your grade until one to two days after the deadline for final grades lmao. But if you do like semi anything you'll probably get an A.
Easy easy A as long as you show up and do the work/take the tests, but prepare yourself to not know a single thing about your grade until it's put in (probably late). He promised us we would know our final grades weeks before the final. We didnt get it until 3 days after GPAs were supposed to be done. Overall a great guy and a fun, easy class.
Horrible to get a hold of, I have no idea how I did in the class because he doesn't post anything. Easy class, horrible communication.
Easy class and you'll probably do well but if you like to know your grades, don't take this class. Every class he told us he would post our grades and we didn't receive a single grade until the letter grades were uploaded to BU Brain, and they were uploaded 2 days late. Professor does not answer emails and is inaccessible outside of class.
Easiest class you'll take at Bing. Solid GPA booster. Lectures are interesting if you are genuinely into astronomy, but can be monotonous at times. Some math, however only at the basic algebraic level, and tests are practically open book so no formula memorization needed. Prof. Taylor is a nice guy and very approachable.
Is not the easy lab credit it seems to be. He is disorganized, forgetful, and inconsiderate. Grades off of 3 tests and a final. Do not need to take final if you have an A. But gave back no grades throughout semester. Had to take the final blind. Lectures are useless and he does not respect your time or effort. Treats this like a part time job.
I LOVE CHRIS TAYLOR SO MUCH.
Only thing is he never answers emails and puts in grades the last day of semester. Cheat sheets allowed for every test and all homework is online. Attendance mandatory based on the iclicker app
I love Christopher Taylor. He is so lenient and easy-going. Class is so beyond easy and you can google all of the homework answers. Only best 3 out of 4 tests count. Probably spend a total of three hours of work for this class throughout the whole semester. I love him, take this class if you need an easy lab credit or easy gen ed.
really easy class. just show up, do the iclicker, and do the answers for everything on pearsons and youll be fine. if you just get the work overwith youre good. hes a great professor he is so chill i love him
He was a very good professor but do not try to email him because he will never see it. If you need to talk to him do it in person or email a TA they should help. Easy class fun teacher go to he lectures.
Grades were not put in until the last week of the semester. I had no idea what grade I had the entire semester, but everyone I know appeared to have gotten an A in the class. I emailed him five times throughout the semester with various questions and he did not respond. He is not accessible outside of class but if you show up you will get an A.
He is a really nice guy and cares a lot about his students. Lots of hw but you can find the answers. We knew our grades before we had to take the final and if u find him outside of class he will help you with whatever you need. He doesn't answer emails so email the TA's. Liked the class and would highly recommend it.
Take this class if you need a science Gen Ed or a GPA booster. Lecture is an absolute joke but he uses iclicker. Prepare to know nothing about your grade and just hope that you see an A on Brightspace. Do not stress about this class. Do not take notes. There is extra credit so you don't have to take the final. Just sit in class and do other work.
Very nice guy. Lectures can be boring and you need to attend bc of iclicker. Homework is super easy and you're allowed a cheat sheet on tests.
Christopher is a super chill guy. Had fun during his lecture. Easy class as long as you show up do the iclicker questions, hw, and extra credit. The only thing I would say is that you're not gonna know your grade until the last few weeks of the semester, but as long as you are doing everything you should be fine.
Awesome guy, awesome class. Take if you can for easy credit and a great experience.
Taylor is very easy-going and lenient. If you put in the hard work and show up to his lectures, you'll definitely get a good grade. This class is an easy A and the homework is online so you have access to external sources to solve the questions. My main issue with him is he procrastinates with the grading, so it's best to calculate your own grade.
Nice dude, easy course. Generally inaccessible outside of class but you can catch him before and after. Tests are overall pretty easy.
You could tell Professor Taylor genuinely wants his students to succeed. With all the extra credit opportunities, the labs, the optional final, even if you didn't do as well on the exams, an A is still achievable. He's almost impossible to reach outside of class and the lectures aren't really helpful, but it's SUCH an easy A, I would still take it.
Taylor is a good guy, doing a job with over 800 students between the 2 courses. He makes things as easy as possible despite the huge volume of students. Hard to get ahold of aside from attending class, but genuinely does care and is a cool dude if you talk to him.
So glad I got to take his class before he retired!
Taylor is being missed. I took his class F23. He wasn't at his best, but it all worked out. My friends say the new guy has a lot of measuring up to do. Taylor is gone, but not forgotten.
