Nice guy, good teacher, but watch out he isn't easy. He uses trig on his tests that can be tricky. I think the pre-calc class before this onne should have had more emphasis on trig to prepare the students for calcI.

He is without a doubt one of the best teachers I've ever had. He is extremely helpful and clear and always willing to help. He really wants to make sure everyone understands everything. He also gets to know his students which makes it easier to approach him about school or otherwise. Take himmmmmm

AWESOME PROFESSOR! probably one of 3 professors in my life who have made me understand math. explains things very clearly and is willing to work with you until you understand it. Watch out for his exams though, the multiple choice can be ticky and they can be a little lengthy

I had to take the class which he ended up teaching to fulfill the Gen Ed math requirement. With that said, I was actually interested. He also encouraged me to teach since he thought I was good at it when I helped people in my section of the room.

He is the BEST math teacher I have ever had.I really have a hard time with math but he made it simple. I do have to admit he looks a lot like Larry the Cable Guy. You will NOT be disappointed if you take his class.

One of the best math teachers I have ever had, he is also my advisor. He will go out of his way to help you if your having trouble in any of his courses. He has even helped in other math courses that he doesn't teach. I couldn't say enough about him, i strongly recomend taking him for any course if you can.

Stats: Took Stats over the summer. Good teacher, but overloaded homework. Very helpful, and answers any questions you have. Fair grader. In summer session, crammed lots of info in a short period of time. My only real criticism is that when he gave an exam, he took a pleasure in saying that he tricked us. Nice guy, though. I liked him.

Awesome professor.I needed a class for my math requirement and the good reviews on here were correct.I took the summer session, easier to remember this stuff day to day.Laid back class,class had lots of questions and he loved explaining the answers.He understands that most of class is there for math requirement and it shows in his teaching style.

extremely helpful professor. i am not a math major and by no means a math person but he made class enjoyable. attendance is important as well as homework but class examples are based on currents topics and uses examples from people in class. encourages class participation and help from classmates. best math class, highly recommend this professor.

Professor Teixira is the best professor ever had for math and possibly in general. His lectures are very thorough and easy to understand. He cares and wants to make sure everyone understands the material. He's pretty funny and very nice as well.

What a wonderful, wonderful man! 2 exams, multiple quizzes and homework (sometimes heavy). He breaks things down so it's easy to understand. This class is meant for people like myself who are not..."geniuses" when it comes to math and he knows that and is considerate of that fact. The last time I got an A in math was Kindergarten, take him!!!

Professor Teixeira is hands down one of the best professors i have had hear at RIC. HE IS CRYSTAL CLEAR!! He knows what he's talking about and he dumbs math down so much where i really think a 3rd grader could understand it, which isn't a bad thing because towards the end of the semester it gets tougher. I took this class to satisfy a gen-ed requirement, and I'm really glad I did. Dr. Teixeira made this class so enjoyable and easy to understand. His grading is very straight-forward and as long as you show all of your work, he will still give you partial credit for a wrong answer. Try to go to all classes, it's so beneficial to learn right from him

Dr. T is by far one of my favorite professors. He wants students to understand the material and never asks trick questions. 2 exams are the midterm and final. Quizzes almost every week based on the material you went over and it's meant to boost your grade. Gives homework but is not mandatory. Overall great professor

Dr. T is really great. Im not someone who considers myself good at math but he made this class very accessible and not too difficult. Homework was assigned every class but never checked and there were weekly quizzes or group works. Dr. T drops your lowest two quiz/group work grades at the end of the semester.

But he was very understanding and explained things very well to his students, he was just a bit of a heavy grader and in a class like Calc where things get hard. Professor Teixeira is seriously one of and if not the best professor I have had at RIC. I took his math class over the summer (6 weeks) I did so much better than I couldve imagined. He explains everything until you understand it and doesnt make you feel stupid while doing so. He really cares about his students. Show up, do your work and get an A!!

This was the best math class I have ever taken. I highly recommend Dr.T, he cares about teaching stuff that you need in the real world like loans, taxes, credit cards, mortgages, etc. His lectures are interesting to listen to. I got a lot out of this class.

Solid professor, good at what he does and actually cares for you to understand it. Ask questions and he'll work through the problems with you. Only downside is that his quizzes are timed and if you don't finish within the time you'll basically get a bad grade. Quizzes only have like 5-10 questions

Ive never had any confidence in my math skills, but I needed this course to graduate. I dont know if all my previous math teachers Ive ever had were just straight up terrible or Dr. T is magic, but I have never done so well in my life, and I actually understood and retained the information. I hated math my whole life. I dreaded having to take yet another math class. I am so glad I had Dr. T as my professor. He is honestly the BEST math teacher I have ever had! He wants you to pass. He will not move on until he knows for sure that all his students understand whats going on. If you have to take a math class, make sure its with him!

I failed Math 139 prior to taking Dr. Teixeira's course. Because of this prof, I was able to pass math and understand it as well. I could not thank Dr. Teixeira enough for the life skills learned regarding finance. He is hilarious! AMAZING PROFESSOR! PLEASE TAKE HIM. I worked really hard to pass this course but Dr. Teixeira made it so worth it!

I never have been good at math before, so I was nervous going into this course. But he explains everything till you understand it. He also is very helpful with any questions that you may have. There was a bit of homework but the following class id you did not understand the homework he went over it. Overall the best math teacher I have had!

If you had the opportunity to take a course with him .. do it. Math isn't my strong suite but he definitely makes it easier. Naturally, you will have to put the effort it to learn the math, but he does plenty examples and there are plenty of things to be graded on. He does take attendance and the textbook is mando.

Very understandable professor who cares about his students. There is a midterm, final, and a bunch of quizzes (worth a lot). However, he drops the lowest two quizzes. So, you have two chances to bring your grade up. Lecture is always fun because we discuss real life math situations. Only downside is buying the specific calculator to use to class.

I had this teacher for both MATH 139 and MATH 340. Both were online through the Pearson online lab. He sent out weekly emails about the chapter thats going to be covered that week & to remind you to come to his office hours if you need help. Super straight forward, no meetings , no homework . Just 4 or 5 exams done through the online lab.

Professor Teixeira is a great guy. Pretty much all of your grade is homework, but its not difficult at all, and gives you an entire week to complete it. Encourages participation, but not held against you if you dont. He gives you absolutely all material necessary to succeed in this course, not a hard course at all if looking to fulfill math gen ed!

Great Professor, this was my 3rd time taking Calculus and he made it all make sense, after Calculus with him, Calculus 2 was a breeze. He is incredibly caring and actively reads the room to see if everyone understands, he also creates a comfortable environment to ask questions during class.

Dr. T is my favorite professor so far at RIC. It's my first year and I was nervous about starting college-level math. I have had terrible experiences with math teachers in the past, so I was not sure how much I would understand. However, he is incredible at teaching math, and I would recommend him to anyone. He makes the comprehensible/exciting.

Awesome dude. Taught us about money relating to savings, while still teaching math in an easy way. I hate math but he got me to actually be interested in the topics.

My favorite professor by far at RIC. Was very knowledgeable about the material and explained it in a way for everyone to understand. He was hilarious with his lectures and made sure to include everyone in discussion. He showed that he cared about his students and made math enjoyable. The textbook we used was super easy and very helpful for class.

10/10. amazing professor. i was afraid of calc 1 but he made it a lot less scary. super helpful and loves when students come to office hours. never makes you feel like a bother. his exams can be a little tough but it is calc its not easy. gives you hints about what's on his exams. if you put in a lot of effort in this class, you will pass easily.

Dr. T is a great teacher in the math department. He really cares about his students and takes the time to answer questions in class. There is homework assigned after every class but you have a week to do it. You are graded on the homework, attendance, mid-term, and final exam. As long as you show up and participate you will have a great semester!

Dr. T is an amazing professor. This was the best college level math class I have taken. The class goes the whole hour and 50 minutes but it goes by quickly. Theres also lots of homework but its very helpful and he also will take time in class to help students if they are having trouble spots on it. Take this professor if you have the chance!!

This is my first time rating a professor, thats how amazing he was. This is forsure the way to go. Great teacher with a great sense of humor. I am someone who is usually terrible at math however, being in class with Dr. T, I never felt as if I was bad at math. He is high energy, caring and makes sure to connect whatever he teaches us to real life circumstances so I don't feel as though what I am learning is pointless. Homework after every class but helpful if you have any questions.

As someone is usually bad at math, Dr. T made this class helpful and easy to pass. We only had 2 tests, the mid-term and final, but there is a new homework assignment at the end of every class. However, he does help you through the questions if you need any help. I would 100% take him again, he is funny, talkative, and really helps you understand.

Dr. T was one of the most amazing professors I have taken. Math is not my forte however he really made it easy for me. He is respectful and gives helpful feedback when exams are given back. For his class definitely showing up its the most important since everything that he writes up on the board is giving in the exams, totally recommend him.

One of the best professors I've had at RIC so far. he is very detailed in his explanations of concepts and will hone in on it if someone doesn't understand. There is quite a bit of homework, but you have days to get it done (everything is due at the beginning of class). Overall 10/10, I would recommend him to anyone.

I am terrible at math, but he made it so so easy I felt like a math wizard. He makes it so easy to understand math and takes so much time to go over it so you understand. Gives extra credit. Also will give you hints on what is in the exam a lotttt.

Dr. Teixeira is the best teacher I've had at ric since I started last year. He's very kind and funny and he cares a lot about your learning and understanding. The class is really easy if you attend all the classes, take notes, and ask questions. There's only 2 major exams and the rest of the grades are Pearson homework's and in class group work.
