Definitely take this professor. He is so laid back with his due dates on everything and is the EASIEST cornerstone professor out there. One presentation- one paper (its long but he breaks it up). Group work required but simple tasks assigned. Everything is online-
Really nice guy he wants to help. Grades pretty hard. Too many papers. he gave us 4 papers to do at the same time at one point, enough people complained so he dropped two. 2 presentations. Graded me below what I deserved I think others feel the same way.
Good guy, has lots of good information. Gives a lot of work. I mean a lot of work! Some of his lectures are long but he tries keep them light.
Professor Thacker is great. He is very helpful and understanding. He grades kinda hard but it's just because he hold the class to high expectations. He makes a boring class fun. He lets you resubmit work after he has revised it. Expect to write...ALOT. We had to write about 9+ papers 3-5 pages each and then do revisions and then a portfolio.
This class sucks no matter who you take. He's the lesser of a few evils. Good things - you don't have to dress up for presentations & he usually pushes back deadlines. Bad things - he will tell you what he wants after you've already handed in the paper, tough on grading final papers, too many damn b.s. papers, should focus more on final report.
really nice guy, pushed back due dates if you ask. you can redo anything and he will take it. he grades hard but its still soooo easy.
One of the best Professors at Towson.
Mr. Thacker is the man.Makes a boring class fun. He makes jokes, and is enthusiastic about what hes teaching. Multiple assignments, no tests, 1 report, 2 presentation, 1 project.Tells you exactly what he wants. You have round1 drafts, and then 2nd submission of all assignments 4 better grade. Take him if you can, for sure!
VERY good teacher. Makes BORING material more interesting...real funny/laid back guy. Class is kind of alot of work but it is still an easy class. ATLEAST an easy B. I would absolutely recommend taking him for BUSX 301
If you want an A, be prepared to work really hard. There are a lot of assignments, a big formal report, and two presentations, but he's pretty good about extending deadlines. Out of all the teachers for this course, he's probably the best but lectures can sometimes be boring and he is a tough grader. He's very fair though and willing to help.
Mr.Thacker, overall a good teacher. He cares about your work and progress in his class. My advice: Take projects and papers seriously, turn in all work on time, & make eye contact when you speak to him. I'm dissapointed I got a B+ & felt I deserved an A- He's a hard grader, but I was a hard worker, he ranks 6 on scale 1-10 for me on that note!
Lets face it Busx 301 is a useless class. Thacker gives a ton of writing assignments and only 2 presentations. Be prepared to write a lot in this class. Class time was pointless, we went over assignments over and over again, and we got a the same lecture twice. If u got to take 301 thacker is not bad as long as u have determination.
Tries hard to teach well. Makes some good points, but comes off a little arrogant at times - especially his grading, but you get to fix it. You do learn a bit and it's not a worthless class. LOTS of presentations and reports. Make sure you hunt down your group members to do well on projects!!
Makes me wonder why I wasted 6 hours correcting the final portfolio...You will never get that back. Its been a whole semester now and I still haven't received it.
Prof. Thacker is a pretty funny guy. teaches english like a business class. Lots of papers and some confusing assignments. I got through it.
Cornerstone blows, but Thacker makes it tolerable. There's a method to his madness, and in the end of it all you do learn a lot. I must say I misjudged his tactics at first. I could give you a list of complaints, but in retrospect he's a pretty good teacher and really pushes you to do well. The class is a easy B but difficult A kinda thing.
In general, cornerstone sucks. a lot of writing and projects. thacker is a tough grader but definitely tries to make the class interesting. choose a good group and do well on the assignments you should be able to get a B, hard to get an A
Cornerstone is an awful class that requires a lot of writing and presentations, but Thacker makes class fun. He's hilarious. Sometimes he doesn't responds to e-mails, but he's always willing to meet with students to help. Extremely tough grader, but he does it to force people to write better. It is tough to get an A, but I'd still recommend him.
he is a really cool guy likes the ravens and helps you out a lot if you ask him. he is a hard grader but he gives you chances to improve your papers. i would take him.
Comments on paper only proved he didnt actually read it.
Nice guy but gave more work than it was necessary. Worked on a project the entire semester with so many assignments added on. Helpful but very hard grader.
Challenging course to say the least. Good professor, but he can be a bit slow in getting back to people. Definitely seeking him out for help if you want to get a good grade.
Best class I ever took at Towson - and I graduate soon. You learn so much. Everything he teaches is incredibly valuable. Difficult class, but totally worth it. Don't miss this opportunity. Your presentation skills will skyrocket if you listen. Your writing will become efficient, interesting, and precise. ONLY TAKE HIM FOR BUSX301!
Do you like writing a bunch of unnecessary papers? Do you like writing 5-7 page papers to be told afterwords they are rough drafts? And getting extra assignments the last week of class. Finals ended today... 65% of our grade is due 5 hours from now. I am stuck in the library writing multiple papers. Take Hudson instead I hear hes much better.
Miserable class, group project but everyone does the project themselves. Hard grader and takes forever to return papers. Dont worry about being on time b/c he never is... he is very unprofessional and irresponsible. Wait an extra semester and take Hudson! it will be worth it!
Very good professor. His class gives you a clear understanding of business writing. He is sometimes a bit unclear on his assignment, but if you seek him out he is always there to answer questions.
Useful information in terms of presenting. Pain in the you-know-what in terms of excess workload. Mr. Poser Punk seems to think that writing 24/7 is actually going to help in a professional environment. Having been one of the top 5 consultants in the DC market for a very well known company years ago, we never had that many deliverables due at once.
Horrible professor. Disorganized. Assigns useless busy work. Thinks very highly of himself, not humble at all. Too many blogs, presentations, papers, readings, and too much arrogance. Extremely hard grader. Prepare to waste a semester of your life. My group is full of slackers, which results in my bad grade. Right now, I really hate my life.
Taking this class was like taking 4 classes in one. There is a ridiculous amount of useless busy work ontop of creating a portfolio. He is judgmental in his grading based on who he likes and doesn't. You can do all the work perfectly and still get bad grade because his grading is so subjective. He thinks very highly of himself,he is always right.
Mr. Thacker is very high on himself. Miserable class, lots of busywork and very little clarity on assignments, due dates, expectations and everything else. We got nothing done in class so everything turned into HW or a waste of time. Class jumps around, very unorganized. Thacker appears to think 301 is the only class students are taking, As a full-
he seems to have gotten better compared to his previous ratings. however, still a bunch of busy work, still a bunch of assignments due at the same time. it has taken OVER two months to get grades back on assignments. at least at the beginning of the semester he provided weekly in depth homework sheets, but towards the end he became sooo unorganized and gave very little direction on our final deliverables (1 was 10% if our grade). at least he was helpful during his office hours.
Very fair teacher whom requires a lot from students. Expect a lot of presentations and group work. It is not all bad. He is very accessable and willing to help. He will teach you a lot, and likely gain skills which can transfer over to your career. Very intense class (1 time per week) but he is a good teacher and I recommend him.
Very smart, nice guy. Class can be difficult if you procrastinate, but doable. Big group project, 1 comprehensive exam, and a lot of presentations. Tons of extra credit.
By far, the best professor I've had, hands down. Easy, LOTS OF WORK, but if you do all of the extra credit and pay attention to what you're supposed to do...Easy A. Wish I could have him again
Prof Thacker is innovative. His lessons will carry over to your career. He is big on presentations which is a critical business skill to have. Wants his students to do well. Big on blogging. Offers extra credit assignments. Take him if you want to learn a lot.
Have him for Ad Campaigns and he's GREAT. By far much better than a lot of the other MCOM teachers. He gives very clear directions and short but relevant lectures. He's very knowledgeable and always willing to help. I feel like I actually learned a lot in this class that I can use in the real world, and the work load is very manageable.
He assigns a ridiculous amount of work and then will complain over and over about grading "your papers". If he doesn't want to do the work then why assign 4 things per week and require us to meet in groups outside of class. Lectures go off topic and he runs over the class time, barely explains assignments and then makes us redo them. Do not take!
Great class The guy is funny and while there are alot of assignments, they aren't that hard Will let you turn things in late if you have a good excuse and he actually cares about his students His assignments are similar to work he gives you a task with little direction and expects you to figure it out pretty much lets you be creative in doing them
YOU WILL DEF LEARN! HANDS DOWN. TAKE HIM FOR BUSX 301
A lot of work outside of class. Be prepared for a horrible grade at first then you get to redo all assignments. He doesn't explain assignments very well. Willing to help, but can make you feel stupid for asking for help.
He is a hard grader. don't worry when your grade sucks at first because you can make it all up for the final. he gives you absolutely everything you need to know to fix your grades its up to you to take advantage of it. he puts in so much time and effort in to each student so they can succeed. only reason I didn't get an A is because I was lazy.
Prof Thacker's class helped me so much with presentations and business documents!! (even when I studied abroad my professors complimented my format and organization) He cares what you think about the class and his teaching style and is willing to take suggestions on how to improve.
Pretty good professor. You will be bombarded with work. Read two short books. Towards the end of the class you will realize that the way the class is planned is actually genius. He definately teaches you information that can be applied in life after school.
If you want to add value to yourself as a professional, take Thacker for 301. His grading system makes 0 sense, the end of the semester is backloaded with work, and you may not get the grade you think you "earned" but his lessons resonate and are worth whatever grade you get. Do all the assignments, improve, and you will be glad you took him.
Excellent class with excellent instruction. All questions were always answered, and as an older student with work experience it is good to note the lessons are applicable to the actual employment environment. I not only recommend this class, but especially this professor.
He is a very good professor. He does expect a lot but he is clear on what he wants. If you give him what he is looking for, you will get a good grade in the class. Just be sure to attend every class because missing one class will really hurt your grade and rewrite everything that is graded because he will take revisions at the end of the semester.
Really good teacher I learned so much and single handly better at presentations because of this class. These people aren't kidding, he does give a ton of work and grades it tough but he knows what he is talking about. You get what you deserve, and he does let you re do assignments. He will make you more professional and better you.
I had Mr. Thacker for speech class this semester. Funny guy. The book was a little sense but he gave great lectures. 4 short presentations that really help improve your skills.
Although Thacker was critical about our presentations, I still learned a lot from his feedback, and therefore I improved in public speaking. Not the easiest guy to contact, but he knows his stuff and was always clear. Thacker's a pretty funny guy, always incorporating fun facts and stories with his lectures.
So Mr. Thacker is one of those profs who gives a lot of work out, but you learn quite a lot in return. He WILL record your presentations so that you can see yourself and improve. I highly suggest that you go with the evening class (One day a week) so that you have the whole week to do the work.
Mr. Thacker taught me a ton. If you are looking for someone who will teach you a lot and help you be prepared for the real world this is the guy. Also he is really funny and legitimately cares about his students. Definitely take you won't regret it.
Thacker is inspirational and intimidating. One of the only classes where I actually wanted to go to class to learn. He is really relatable and lectures aren't painful like most business classes-and I took his 3 12 hour night class(which I highly recommend to give yourself plenty of time to complete assignments). Overall, challenging and rewarding.
Mr. Thacker is by far the most helpful teacher I've taken at Towson. His lectures (especially those about oral presenting) have helped me more than I could have ever thought. By the end of the semester, you'll realize how amazing the overall organization of this class is. If you put in the effort, you will do well and see improvement. Great class!
I definitely recommend Prof. Thacker! The class itself requires a lot time, but it's so worth it because you learn skills that can be applied to other classes and at work. You have to work for your grade, but Prof. Thacker breaks up the class up to where things just make sense. His lectures are interesting and he responds to email.
Thacker is a righteous dude.
Great professor. Class is designed to help you. Not an easy class, but everything is clearly cut.
He's awesome! It's a lot of work(especially a night class) but if you do what he says you'll easily get a good grade. Class isn't always interesting, but attendance is mandatory. He really knows what he's talking about with presentations and completely changed how I write and present things and my presentations are 10000x better now.
one test with all short answers, one paper in the beginning but he is the only teacher of BUSX301 that lets you re do it at the end of the semester. He was very nice and tried to make jokes. His lectures were interesting but sometimes dragged on lesson a lot longer than needed -- rubric given well in advance for each assignment
Thacker is an AMAZING teacher! He is a very tough grader, but only because he genuinely wants you to improve. He gives really constructive feedback and curves everything the first half of the semester. I recommend taking his once-a-week class because you have a full week to finish every assignment. His lectures are long but entertaining. Take him.
Pretty cool teacher! This class is not tough if you actually try your best to improve. Going in, I thought that I would end up with a C in the class because of my performance in the beginning of the semester. Throughout the semester he will help you a lot to improve with everything that you do. An A is difficult, but an A- is manageable.
He is weird but amazing professor. whatever he teaches in the class is very useful in real life. He is very specific and straight forward about what he wants from the students. If you provide him what he is looking for than you r good to go. If you ever have problem understanding the material see him during his office hours he will help you.
Very informative class. Although the professor makes you work for it, there is a vast quantity of extra credit available. The materials generated in this class will be immensely valuable for job applications or future classes such as BUSX 460.
Very informative class. Although the professor makes you work for it, there is a vast quantity of extra credit available. The materials generated in this class will be immensely valuable for job applications or future classes such as BUSX 460.
I need othr stdnts 2 know how amazing this prof truly is-Not only is he the nicest guy u cld ever meet, but he TRULY cares about his stdnts-He gives CLEAR grading criteria &offers EC-Im not just saying this-he is the BEST prof I have ever had& Im in my 30's! I cant imagine a prof better then him!He gives u evtng u need 2 do well! I hpe 2 get an A/A-
Best professor to take for BUSX 301. I took BUSX 460 the next semester and I used my presentation/interview video as well as other papers for a project in 460. I have learned more in this class than any other one class in college! Very inspiring and the lectures are always entertaining. It may seem like a lot of writing, but you will use it again!
Great teacher, really knows his material. I learned so much in his BUSX 301 class. Real stuff that will help you better your professional life. That said, if you want a good grade, you will have to earn it. He gives great feedback so there is ample time to improve your work, but he knows what he's looking for, no short cuts in this class.
This class is a difficult class no matter who you take it with. That said, go with Thacker. He's a genius. I have no doubt about it. He really cares about his students and is always willing to help you improve if you want to. The skills you get from him and this class is transferable to the real world.
Thacker is the man. This class will force you to fix errors in your writing and presenting skills, all while helping to improve your self awareness, word choice, and professionalism. This class does have a lot of work, but it is manageable and Thacker makes it fun and interesting. My most memorable professor at Towson, don't miss this opportunity!
Funny guy, but the class was a different story. Assigns endless amounts of homework, projects and presentations, and is very technical when it comes to grading. The test is easy , but also consists of a lot of writing. A good class to take if you are are only taking 2 other classes, otherwise your are in for a VERY long semester.
Thacker is truly the best teacher I have ever had. His class was challenging and at times very demanding but, I can honestly say my presentation skills and overall writing skills have improved immensely. He really shows you the correct way to do things and he spends more time giving feedback than any other teacher I've ever had.
Thacker is really funny which is a nice distraction to the large amount of work this class takes. Be prepared to do presentations and papers alone and in groups. He also gives AMAZING feedback to aid in your improvement. I definitely will use the skills he gave me in the future. He also makes himself available outside of classtime.
Very challenging class. Will help you improve your writing and presentation skills. However, very unclear as to what is due and when it is due. Uses his own website which makes things confusing. Interesting class, but be aware there is a lot of HW and presentations and he is EXTREMELY unclear as to due dates.
Maybe the best teacher ever. I, as well as the whole class, felt enlightened to how we should have been writing and presenting for our entire lives. Take this class and realize that all of your English teachers have screwed you when it comes to business communications! He has a hilarious dark sense of humor and loves to keep things interesting!
You'll be doing a ton of work, but he curves most assignments to a B, gives plenty of extra credit opportunities, and gives helpful feedback to show where you need improvement. You will not only get an A if you put the time in, but you will improve your writing and presenting skills for the real world. He really wants you to succeed. Take him!
Brah is super rad.
He created the class so it's very clear on what he wants for each assignment. As long as you do the work and show up you're guaranteed a good grade. Lots of presentations and writing but definitely good skills to have before going into the career you want (mock interviews, resumes, cover letters). He's also really funny.
Nice guy, extremely smart and caring. My writing greatly improved throughout the course. The only downside is that he uses his own website instead of blackboard and will either forget to make the pages available or update it.
This class is hard & a lot of work! Thought I'd be lucky to pass but he's lenient and redo the same assignments. The group projects are the worst, but I didn't have a good group. If you stay on track with the due dates and do the work you should have no problem getting an A. He uses his own site over BB which can be a pain sometimes.
Day one, he seemed like he would be a monster when it comes to teacher. After going over the syllabus, he is the nicest, most understanding guy ever. He is VERY clear of what his expectations are of his students. That being said, he also provides some of the most valuable feedback you will get and teach you skills you will take into your career.
Overall Thacker means well, he is a great guy and really wants to see you succeed. The class itself in nature is VERY time consuming and I don't feel like he always read the papers that I was turning in. But, he really pushes you to do extra activities and in the end I can definitely say I learned something useful for later in life.
Get ready for tons of work. He gives you feedback to improve but very tough grader.
Amazing teacher very inspirational, he really cares and wants everyone to succeed in the real world. He spends a lot of his personal time on his classes. Best professor I've had at Towson. Take him.
The amount of work required in this class is a lot more compared to other professors in this section. I took the night class and our lectures couldve been an hour and a half a night but he stretched it out to take up the full time for most of the semster. Emailed him 5 times and he has only responded twice; I never emailed him anything unimportant
Mostly written projects and group presentations. One written test that's not too hard. Get to know your group because you work with them throughout the semester. I really liked him, any BUSX 301 is going to be a lot of homework, but he gives extra credit at the end of the semester.
This class is a lot of work regardless of who you have, but Thacker is literally the best professor for it. His lectures are memorable and everything he assigns is for a good reason. At first you'll want to switch professors, but don't because chances are you'll get an A since almost all assignments are redo-able. Don't miss class, he's the best!
1st class and you'll think he has anger management problems, but his teaching skills make up for his poor interpersonal skills. Don't be intimidated by his negative persona--if you can get over it and learn from him, you'll do well. Make sure you go to EVERY class or lose points. Wouldn't take if you have a heavy loaded semester. Demands a lot
He tells you what he wants from you only after you've messed up the first time but is very clear in grading criteria. Theres many written assignments and presentations. Hes a pretty cool guy and I learned a lot from his class and it pushed me out of my comfort zone.
Good guy, way too much work. There would be multiple papers, group assignments and readings to do each week. A lot of quizzes on the readings and one very long exam. He gives a lot of extra credit which is nice which helped a lot since he rarely gives high grades since he believes the "standard" is a seventy. Things I learned will be helpful.
Top three professors I've had at Towson. This course is very difficult and Thacker understands that. You have to put in a lot of work in order to do well. Show up to class and complete all the assignments and Thacker will surely notice. Read the chapters and ask questions. You certainly have to spend a lot of time in this class but it will help
Take this course! You will not regret it. BUSX301 taught by Professor Thacker is a course I will always remember. I relate back to his teachings everyday in my professional life. This course breaks you out of your shell and is remarkable in every way. Thacker is a true coach and mentor to his students. The course is challenging yet rewarding.
Mr. Thacker provides a very professional and well developed class. The materials used in class, as well as the work, helped to set up my professional portfolio that I now use in the business world. Taking this class was one of the best decisions that I have made not only for me personally but for my career as well
Professor Thacker is an absolute genius. I took his one day a week class that lasted 3 hours and he still managed to keep it interesting. The workload for this class will be large with whoever you take it with, but Thacker makes it as easy as possible and you will become a better writer.
Top 10 professors. He was nerve wracking at first because we started with a very hard assignment; 90 sec presentation, silent judgment, 2nd week. Totally worth it. Amazing interesting lectures, relatable, funny, curves grade, and explains format well. No textbook, 2 MUST READ novels, and Russian roulette the quizzes when collecting them. MUST TAKE.
Definitely a lot of work. Theres a lot to cover in this class, but he makes it livable how he structures it. It will be ALOT of writing, but a lot of it is team based and is not that much once you get down into it. Also he curves a lot in the beginning so you wont fail unless you dont try. Just avoid his gaze during lectures because he is intense!
Tries to make himself seem like a tough professor at the beginning of the semester but isn't that bad at all. Starts giving out a lot of extra credit opportunities towards the end of the semester.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Very knowledgeable and explains everything well. Seems like the class will be difficult at the beginning but isn't that bad, hands out a lot of extra credit at the end of the semester.
If you tend to skip class, do not take this professor. Attendance is mandatory and missing one class will bring your grade down significantly. There is also public speaking, so anyone with social anxiety or fear of public speaking should not take this class. There are lots of writing assignments EVERY WEEK; very paper-heavy. This class made me cry.
This class is easy, but a lot of writing assigments you will literally write 5 page paper every week if there is no writing assigment he will make you read 2 stupid books, good professor but keep him as your last option
I took him based on all of the good ratings here but I found him almost impossible. I work hard in all classes but this was ridiculous. I found the only way to succeed was to guess what he wanted to see, not what I wanted to write. The group project was the worst and there was little guidance once the class moved online. Do not recommend!
Difficult class to say the least but manageable. Problem that I had was there was so much reading along with overly long quizzes that required a lot of writing. Prof. Thacker does give a ton of feedback on papers though, and if you approach him he is pretty quick to respond. This is a hard class, but he curves most of his assignments.
GOOD LUCK with Pro. Thacker. Class is hard and he makes more difficult class. lot's of work and he always said email me if you have question, but he never reply you back. there is lot of extra credit after you do that all extra credit your grade will be stay same. if you find any better professor than him go take it. LOTS OF READING AND ASSIGNMENT
Thacker rules!
Prof. Thacker's class was a lot. So many assignments, but they were broken down in a way that was easy to get done. He gives you a ton of feedback on your papers. Watch out for his quizzes. They require a lot of time.
Vey tough professor wouldnt recommend him at all he promises extra credit but it doesnt effect our grade. Group work is very hard to do in his class. You will do same assignment so many times still doesnt bring your grade up it goes down. GO WITH ANOTHER PROFESSOR.
Professor Thacker is amazing! He gives out really useful assignments that apply to the real world. He's sometimes a little hard to get ahold of, but he's very understanding and flexible when he gets back to you.
Prof. Thacker is a pretty tough grader. He does curve his assignments, but still. If you meet with him online when he's available he is really helpful. The financial analysis paper flat out sucks but its doable, just make sure you ask a lot of questions.
He offers extra credit but I don't think it made a difference to my grade. also, he has you edit your paper many times for no reason. at the end of the semester he piles on a lot of work and a group project that is near impossible to complete, he forgets that we are taking other classes. Only take him if he is your last option.
This class is a lot of work but he really wants you to do well. he offers lots of extra credit, lots of extensions on big projects. This was one of the most beneficial class to me. There's chapters you have to read each week with quizzes but nothing too bad.
Here's the thing, this class is hard. You have to WORK to get a good grade, but Mr. Thacker will literally spend hours giving you feedback on drafts of your papers if you take him up on his offer. He gives frequent extra credit but it doesn't make a big difference, so don't rely on it. Participation matters, speak up and you'll be on his good side.
Honestly one of the best classes I have ever taken. At first, he seemed like a nightmare. Wants everything done his way. It's a lot of work, probably more than any other class, but you truly are improving your business communication skills. He's pretty forgiving with deadlines. As long as you put in the effort, the pay-off will be great!
Best BUSX teacher. Do not take any others he is the easiest and not that many assignments. Gives optional reviews for every paper and is a very helpful professor and cares about students. He is a real G love Thacker!!!! If you go to class and pay attention easy A but you have to do work and care for an A.
He wants everything done perfectly, he is extremely harsh on grading. Gave so many assignments I couldn't keep up with my classes. Extremely boring lectures. Your attendance is mandatory.
Professor Thacker is a good teacher, but he demands so much work. Non-stop papers: resume, cover letter, a real estate, career report paper. I was so exhausted by the end of semester, and I know that this class supposed to be challenging one, but he made it even more difficult. So if you have a choice take this class with another instructor.
Thacker is one of the best professors in the business school overall. Time management is the most important thing for this class. Tons of essays but the way he formats them makes them easier. 3 presentations. His main goal is that you improve with each essay and presentation. He sends out A LOT of extra credit opportunities. Take him for BUSX301.
Harsh grader but gives hella extra credit to make up. You learn a lot in this class and it is a lot of work, but the things you learn, you will use forever. He's the best professor to take this class with. You will genuinely learn & you will pass if you take advantage of the extra credit.
It's a rough class but Prof Thacker is your gateway to an A. Pros: gives a lot of easy extra credit, wants to help you succeed, reviews papers if you ask, gives detailed feedback, pushes back deadlines, and will give extensions. Cons: a lot of tedious work, extremely tough grader, and does not elaborate on what you need to improve on in rubrics.
Professor Thacker wants his students to do well. He offers plenty of extra credit opportunities and gives you feedback on your writing so you can turn it in for a better grade. He can be lenient with deadlines and is pretty understanding. I am grateful I took him for this course compared to other professors.
The class should be an easy A with any other prof. A lot of directions for assignments were only given in class and briefly mentioned. The blackboard was hard to follow as well as deadlines. He makes you revise everything for a grade. However He was good about giving extensions and reasonable. I also like that he mentions mental health in syllabus
Tough class. Really time consuming. Prof Thacker does try to take the time to help students if you ask. He gives a lot of feedback on drafts. He could spend a little more time on presentations. Overall, Prof Thacker cares about his students and gives tons of easy extra credit.
Thacker is disorganized and tries to incorporate too many platforms into his course. He makes the use of Dropbox mandatory, so course material is located in two locations. This causes a lot of confusion about where course material can be found, deteriorating communication between teacher and student. Rubrics are generic, expectations are unclear.
Trying his best. Makes an easy class unnecessarily difficult. Grades very harshly but provides the option to redo every paper. Gave immediate feedback after presentation whilst you were still standing in front of the class.
Although his lectures are boring, the class itself is not bad. Do the homework thoroughly and turn it in on time, go to class/lab and you will get an easy A. He drops the lowest quiz grade and there are no exams, mostly small writings and projects. All of that said, he is a very caring professor and wants everyone to succeed.
This class is an easy A+. Although this class has a lot of work and sometimes the lectures are boring, Professor Thacker breaks the assignments down so that it is not overwhelming. He provides a lot of extra credit and we have no test! We have quizzes but it take home and open note. I would recommend this class.
I took this class and hated it. if you want your spirit broken while presenting GET READY FOR A 50% on multiple recorded presentations in front of the class. I came into the class hating presenting in front of the class and I left the class even more scared of public speaking than I have ever been in my life. Business students beware.
KING! Personally I loved Thacker. He is very knowledgeable about what he teaches and approachable for help. His lectures can be boring sometimes and there are a lot of presentations. The papers are not hard, just tedious. Sometimes in class he would say silly goofy things like how he thinks about the Roman Empire a lot. Overall great professor!
I liked Mr. Thacker his class has a lot of work and a lot of presentations but none of it is super difficult as long as you put in the time, he gives a lot of feedback on drafts and presentations.
The best BUSX 301 teacher you're going to get. No exams but many papers and presentations - aren't too bad. He's kinda tough on grading so don't expect an easy A. If you come to class and try hard on the assignments you'll still get a good grade. Also mandatory attendance. Overall great professor, really wants his students to do well and improve.
Best professor yet, come to class as attendance is mandatory. Very caring and funny, gives great feedback. The workload is pretty heavy but the assignment itself aren't that hard. You have 4 group presentations and one single presentation. Fair grader and tells you exactly how to do the assignments with samples and tells you exactly how to present.
Very nice and understanding. He gave great feedback on papers and presentations, and although he was a tough grader, he was fair. His TSEM was very dependent on group work, so be prepared to work in a team. Work consists of 2 page research essays and a presentation with similar content as the paper every 2-4 weeks. Participate and you'll be fine.
This course helped me improve significantly with presenting, and interviewing. Professor Thacker was a joy to be around, and always super energetic throughout class. He is also very honest and tends to give back great feedback to help us later improve. This course is challenging but overall great experience!
Cares about his students, you can tell with how any feedback is personalized and will help you every step of the way. Also pretty funny giving how boring the class can be. However, the class is a lot of work. 5 presentations, 7 workshops that you have to do with reflections, and 10 quizzes. However, no final so be happy about that. Take if you can!
Good feedback. Really cares about students. Accessible and understanding. TSEM102 in specific is mostly group work with the same people. May be annoying if you get lazy members.
Professor Thacker is an engaging and dedicated instructor who truly cares about his students. His course is presentation-heavy, helping me improve my public speaking and interview skills. He's a tough grader, but his feedback is invaluable. With a strong team, the workload is manageable. Challenging but rewarding—I highly recommend his class!
The workload during the beginning of the semester is heavy, it sort of drops of towards the end with more emphasis on writing, etc. Thacker is great though, he gives feedback on assignments and on presentations. The class is a total of 6 presentations (2 solo, 4 group) and one research paper, one report, and small assignments through out.
Thacker is the most caring professor, he gives feedback on assignments and on presentations. You can tell he truly cares about his students and will help in any way to make sure they pass. Workload is heavy in the beginning but gets lighter through the semester. 6 total presentations with 2 big papers and a bunch of smaller assignments.
The workload was long & excessive with very little time to complete it. He's an extremely critical grader on papers and presentations. Lecture was fun at times, but the class is overall pretty boring. He is also obsessed with eye contact and will stare into your soul every class. Not the worst but maybe try to find a less strict grader, if you can.
Professor Thacker is a kind, funny, and supportive professor who genuinely cares about his students. Even though the workload is heavy, it is not very difficult. My public speaking skills have improved because of this class. He gives good feedback, some extra credit and this class doesn't have any tests.
This class was beyond interesting to me, I really enjoyed his teaching style and this class was amazing as it is probably the best class I have taken involving learning things I need to know for the real world. This class was challenging but the fact that it was fun and beyond interesting makes up for it. Great professor and very funny.
Genuinely the BEST professor I've had the opportunity to take. Formulated the course into focusing on professional career development for students that are preparing for the business world. A lot of the work focuses on Group Projects, Presentations, Writing, and professional document preparation. Always gives immediate and helpful feedback.
