This class was extremely informative, and the lectures were always things I looked forward to. I loved how we discussed each assignment the next week and how much feedback the professor gave on every assignment. One thing I will say is even though attendance is not mandatory if you do show up to class make sure you're on time!

One of my favourite professors; I have taken him for pre- and post-1600's western civ history. His lectures are wonderful and the slides rarely have any sort of notes on them. You can tell he enjoys teaching and is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about what he teaches.

Overall, I enjoyed this online HIS 101 course. Weekly quizzes can be taken twice, the average is placed in the gradebook. These quizzes are based on videos and readings in the textbooks for the week. Videos can be pretty long and there are several per week, so just pace yourself. Some assignments were graded pretty hard but he provided a lot of EC.

Professor Thomas was a great teacher in my opinion, he gave very concise lectures and was helpful if i had any questions. He had great videos linked for every topic we learned about, as well as relevant quizzes and assignments. He also had a sense of humor which i love.

As with most history classes it involved a fair amount of writing. The modules were well spaced out and the assignments were thought-provoking. He is well knowledgable on the subjects and gives you what to study when you get questions wrong on quizzes for the second try.

I took Professor Thomas for HIS101 and HIS102 while at JSRCC. He is one of my favorite history professors I have taken during my academic career. His classes are a mixture of lecture, class discussion, and entertaining educational videos. If you love history, you will love his class. I enjoyed taking his online class. The videos provided for each module kept me interested and wanting to learn. I also enjoyed how organized the assignments were on Canvas. He did seem picky on making sure each assignment is THOROUGHLY in detail; but overall gave back good feedback. Also offers a lot of extra credit at the end of the semester!

I took the 5-week history course so it was a lot of readings during the week since the class is basically cut in half. I like that the textbook assigned is from the web and there is no cost for it. Provides clear grading criteria and gives feedback on assignments and even offers extra credit options which are great!

I have taken this course for a second time (first time was due to life events), and his class is almost as engaging online as in person. It can be frustrating sometimes because he grades quite harshly at times, and almost never rounds up grades, no matter how close to the cusp it is. Apart from that, however, he is quite funny.

Professor Christopher Thomas did a good job this semester while I was taking his online class! I'm not big on history, but I appreciate that the professor is and that you can see he cares! His quizzes aren't too hard as long as you pay attention to the videos and try to use them for the quizzes. PROFESSOR THOMAS, THANKS FOR CARING

This professor was amazing! He's very knowledgeable on the scope of the course and everything he teaches will effectively prepare you for the quizzes and assignments.The information taught is very interesting and in-depth. Just make sure to properly manage your time, in order to get through all the lectures and assignments on time.

For the five week classes there's a lot of reading but to be expected with an accelerated class. Make sure for the writing assignments to use quotes and be very descriptive.

I really enjoyed his class as he provided ways to show you are learning rather than just taking a quiz. He provided a final project that allows you to show what you have learned so far.

Weekly reading and writing assignments that are thought provoking- but be sure to read the rubric! He tells you exactly what he is looking for and will deduct points, once you figure that out its smooth sailing! He gives feedback which is helpful for future work. The text and lecture videos were engaging. I really enjoyed taking this class!

I took the 7 week summer course, and I was able to fully keep up while working two full time jobs! Professor was very open about grading and extra credit, and lectures/readings were easy to digest + follow along with!

I haven't finished the course yet, but I've seen personal growth. I have gotten better at doing my work days before it is due and becoming more disciplined in my actions with school work. The space between when assignments are assigned and when they are due allows students to focus on things outside of schoolwork.

Solid Teacher. The only thing I dreaded about taking his class was the textbook readings. On an accelerated 5-week course, you're expected to read 3 chapters per week, which gets daunting after a while. The assignments were easy, although they do come with more reading. Would retake the class!

He grades in a good manner and try's his best to help us out. He gives us more then enough time to submit our assignments and even if it's late he still gives us point for turning it in. The assignments are set up in a way it it's easy to find. If you ask him any questions he is quick to respond and to give feed back. He explains every assignment.

i think the lectures were very easy to absorb and didn't teach anything useless or go off track too much. I really enjoyed learning more about things that I cared about!

Overall, a great professor. Not an overwhelming amount of work like other classes. Quizzes are right from the textbook, which is provided. I never received a 100% on an assignment, making me think he had preferences not quite stated. But that's okay, it didn't affect grading too much. Would definitely take his class again.

The best thing in my opinion about Professor Thomas is that he gives ample time to complete asignments along with clear instructions for each one.

More challenging than some other courses I've taken because he places a strict emphasis on the quality of your work, but he clearly outlines everything he's looking for in each assignment—so it's not too bad! He's a good professor who doesn't grade too hard. It's a relatively easy way to get three history credits and goes over important events that shaped American history. Overall good course.

Gives helpful feedback and keeps the class updated on whats expected and any problems/errors that happen with assignments. Reading is and writing is on the heavier side, but as long as you follow the instructions correctly, assignments are pretty straightforward.

He's awesome! Personally, I loved his style of teaching. He would get up there and actually go into detail about the things we were learning during the class. He wouldn't just following a textbook. The class was 7 weeks long, but I never felt. I'm more than likely going to take another of his courses, if I am able!

My course was online so I wasn't able to get as good a feel for this professor as I would have if I was in a classroom. His lessons are designed to make you think and not just regurgitate the material back at him. I enjoyed the humor that was included in the video's (the inclusion of Life Of Brian was my personal favorite) made things even better.

Mr Thomas has amazing and engaging lectures that get you to care about complicated history subjects. He encourages participation and will not make you feel bad about getting things wrong. This is a reading-heavy class, but the resources he provides, combined with the lectures, will give you a comprehensive understanding of the subjects at hand.

He made history interesting at 9:30 AM. That alone is great, but he also responds quickly to emails, grades fairly, gives extra credit opportunities, and helps you prepare for the final paper from the first day. I have never felt "scared" of his class.

Awesome professor! Makes Western Civilization before 1600 CE really interesting and easy to understand. Lectures are clear, the workload is fair, and they actually care about students doing well. Definitely recommend taking this class!

He's a good teacher if you like lecture-heavy classes, and he seems to enjoy teaching history.

You may need extra help in this class if you struggle with historical writing, but the rest of the class is fairly easy if you get all your work done and do the extra credit if you need to.

This professor may seem a bit strict but is actually quite fair and can be lenient and if you ask the professor how to do the homework they will give a explanation that makes how to complete the homework a bit easier.

A majority of the information came from lectures or reading outside of class, but he is very clear on what information is necessary for the quiz on the topic.

Make sure you reach out if you are unsure about an assignment, though, because he is a fair grader and will take away points if your assignment does not meet the criteria. I took his 101 class, and have been very fortunate to keep him as a professor both times. Professor Thomas can be a harsh grader at times (sometimes the little stuff on the rubric will get you) but even then, he gives very clear feedback on how to continue.

GREAT GUY!!! never graded too harshly or too slow. grades were put in almost immediately so there was no long wait. quizzes were self explanatory and not hard at all. there was a lot of lectures but other than that 10/10 would recommend
