Great guy! So easy, gives you 10 pts on yoru final grade for showing up to every class. Undoubtedly everyone was there EVERY night. Also fun and informative. A+++
He is a very nice guy, the best professor i have ever had. He is a very easy professor. I would strongly recommend him....
Very nice professor and very helpful. I enjoyed his very much.
Strongly recommend you to take this professor. Best Professor I have at Baruch to-date. Very helpful. Makes his classes so very interesting I couldn’t wait for the next time class time to come around. I learn so much in his class; I didn’t want it to end
easy. if not A then it's gonna be A-. Fun to take, mclass is interesting. in love with him. taking the class at night and still time flies. Z BEST!
The easiest class ever. Not a hard grader, only gave 1 term paper plus couple of easy in-class essays. If you participate and and attend class, guaranteed A.
ok gurls be 4real hes not hot hes just young!! anyway good class very easy, nice guy, helpful, if he sees that everyone is tired hell cancel class no penalties!!! TAKE HIM!! wink wink o yea 1mid term,1final,1 group presentation and 5in class essays. but heres the catch he gives the exac questions b4
The best professor I've had at Baruch - by far. He is extremely talented. There were times when I felt like I could not make sense of anything I was reading, then I'd come to class and he would make it so clear and interesting. He is also VERY cute (hot bod for sure)...and he is so nice.
The best prof i had so far! He's extremely easy and makes his class fun. He gets his job done and still lets his students relax. An easy A class and a very flexible prof. u must take him!
This is the best English class that I have ever taken. He makes you think about what he presents in class and he doesn't pressure you about the papers. He lets you re-write the papers if you didn't do that well. I would take another class in english if he taught it and he's not that bad looking.
He is very nice and helpful, not taugh with grades. The class very interesting and you really learn a lot. Strongly recomended,
He's helpful, incredibly nice, and a very easy grader. He's also funny and makes class go by really fast. He's a more than fair grader but he will be very strict about sticking to his grade at the end of the semester, so don't hope to "negotiate."
VERY NICE PROF. HE MAKES PEOPLE READ A LOT, AND WRITE ESSEYS(SOME TAKE HOME)..HE CANCELLS CLASSES A LOT:)
What an interesting english class. I was never good in english/writing classes (B/B+), but this one brought out the best in me (A). There was a lot of work to do, but comparing to other english classes it wasnt as much. The prof Rocks! We had a string quartet come to class and play for us(Kafka style),also went to see a play (Virginia Wolf)!!!!!
he requires workshop attendance which most working people have no time for and he is unflexable in his grading. you have a story to read every week which can range from 10 to 50pages, constant writing exercises one every 2 to 3 weeks, term paper also. he misses a lot of clase himself but no concession are made for this. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID
great, would take this class again if i could
Upon first looking @ the syllabus I was terrified, but by the end of the class I was sad that it ended. You WILL have fun, make friends, improve or loose fear of public speaking (for COM1010 dodgers), and learn interesting literature. There is no pressure because all material is hand fed to you prior to assignments. Not an "Easy A" but very fun!!
Nice man with good intentions. Some members of the class obviously benefitted greatly from his slow pace and individual attention. However, if you're writing and reading skills are fairly advanced, you might want to keep looking for a more challenging professor.
AVOID HIM
not challenging enough. ppl that have a hard time in engl. will benefit but the rest will get hurt. seems easy on grading however in the end he'll not give u the A 4 some reason. takes him 4ever to return assignments.misses class n he doesn't do anything to accomodate things after wards. u loose interest after u haven't had class for 2 weeks.
THIS PROF. ROCKS! WE HAD A GREAT TIME EVEN THOUGH WE HAD TO READ A TON AND WRITE A LOT. I ACTUALLY LEARNED A LOT AND DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE IT UNTIL AFTER THE CLASS ENDED. TAKE HIM!
i had him in john jay college, and usually he teachs law and philosophy. he is nice. knows a lot.
He was a fun and easy to work with guy. Take this class. I wish I had more teachers like him!
Professor Trogan is the ideal professor. Helpful. Insightful. Smart. He provided a new prospective on materials I would not normally read. You will have to read and write alot but after class discussions, you'll have so much to write about so it will flow easily. All of this during a summer class that ended at 10:45 pm! Excellent PROFESSOR!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!EASY ENG CLASS ENG 2850
doesn't teach anymore, but was a great class last year
Very interesting class, material, and discussions. It would be impossible to stay disengaged. The professor is understanding, fair; values and listens to everyone's opinion. Highly recommended!!
took his class when he was teaching here last year....was awesome!
very interesting class, good prof, not too much work and easy grader, I enjoyed his class and would recommend to anyone - expect to write, but IT IS an English class.
took this class last year and liked it alot. nice guy, very fair, and interesting in class. no longer at baruch but i got to take two classes with him while he was here
No longer on faculty, but was an excellent class...one of the best college classes I have taken and definitely improved my writing, critical thinking, and appreciation for literature. I miss this guy!
took his class when he was teaching here two years ago...too bad he's not here anymore, was one of the best teachers i've ever had. smart, perceptive, encouraging, and clear. very rare.
I agree, Trogan is a naturally gifted teacher, very smart but never condesinding. Prob one of the best teachers I've had in my life, certainly at Baruch. He helped me a lot in office hours with my writing and kept us awake even until 10pm. I learned a lot and have nothing but great memories about the class. He was also v. good at bonding students
High caliber instructor who inspires interest in everything we read. Very encouraging. Wish he taught writing a bit more because what he did say about structuring the papers was helpful.
Professor was great! He encouraged discussion, we read a lot of different genres of literature so the class touched on many classics that everyone should know. Blackboard post once a week and a reading quiz once a week or every two weeks & final essay. Class participation is key to getting a good grade u should actually read and think about the lit
I decided to take Prof. Trogan's class ENG2850 based on the previous reviews on here. I'm very glad I took his class. He is an enthusiastic professor who explains in detail the requirements for a paper or assignment. He also is available to meet with you to discuss your writing and progress to help you improve. I would definitely recommend him!
He is amazing and makes materials intersting! He is an easy grader and gives extra credits. No exams.Only weekly assignments,4 quizes and 1 final paper which is only 4-5 pages. But be well prepared b4 going to class b/c there are a lot of disscussions in class and participation is very important, which counts 25% of your fanal grade!
I took the class Spring 2013. He is an amazing professor, the best I had in Baruch. He is very clear and helpful, he would help with your writing if you just ask. I thought the class would be too much work, but I and a few other students found the amount of work really manageable and not a lot. The material is super interesting, I have learned lots
Prof. Trogan always had a way to spark interesting discussions about texts, which has helped me develop an interest in the subject. If you pay attention in class and do the assignments, the final paper will be a breeze.
I took this class Spring 2013. Great professor - take him! Group assignments are fun, no textbook, you just buy a CD with texts in pdf. The best part is there is just one essay, the rest is discussion board reviews and 5 question quizzes. He gives extra credit. Strongly recommend!
Best English professor at Baruch. No long essays, blackboard assignments and in-classs participation, small quizzes and final essay only. Extra credit is helpful.Professor always replies on emails, which is very helpful.
Prof. Trogan is by far the best teacher that I've taken at Baruch. He taught the class in a very interactive and creative way. All the assigned literary works were actively discussed in class individually ,as well as, in group activities. He made learning new material actually fun. I strongly recommend taking this course with him!
Prof Trogan is amazing. He is dedicated to his work and makes taking the class worthwhile. Students do not need to buy several text books as required by the course, he makes your life easier by compiling all the text needed in one CD. He is a great professor, who puts his students first, you miss out if you don't take him for Eng 2850.
Prof. Trogan is one of the best professors in Baruch. The class is mainly based on class discussions, which are extremely fun, even for ESL students like me. There is only ONE final paper you will be graded on, and the prof is willing to walk you through every step to organize your paper. You will definitely get a good grade if you try.
Prof Trogan is truly exceptional! He is passionate about his subject and very dedicated to his work. Very engaging and encouraging. He is always willing to help his students and actually cares about you doing well in his class. Do NOT believe any bad comments! Whoever posts them probably got a low grade for a good reason. Prof Trogan is the best!
One of the most caring professors at Baruch. The material was very interesting & thought provoking; I literally had to restrain myself from participating sometimes. The class was very well structured, & challenging in the way a genuine educational undertaking should be. As long as you read the material & make a genuine effort, you should be good.
Professor Trogan is a great professor. His goal is to help you succeed in this class but It's up to you to make an effort or not. Just play by the rules and you'll be fine
I really learned a lot in Professor's Trogan class. He is very clear with all the assignments. The readings are very interested as well as the class discussions. If you want to learn more about literature you should definitely take it with him, you will not regret it!
Professor Trogan is very passionate about the subject and cares about his students. He is extremely fair and always makes himself available to help if needed. If you do the reading you and participate in class you will do well. I highly recommend!
This is a great professor; he cares about his students and wants them to learn. I would recommend taking his class; he is extremely fair and gives you the opportunity to earn good grades. If you have any questions, he is always available to answer them.
Professor Trogan is a great professor and I would recommend anyone to take his class. He cares about his students and is always available to help. Goes above and beyond to make sure his students understand everything his class entails. I would definitely take him again!
He has an incredible reputation for a reason. If you want to experience a natural born teacher, this is the man. Passionate, brilliant, dedicated, he walks into the room and knows exactly what he needs to do to convey complex material to students and get them to LOVE it and HIM, cannot be recommended more highly. Always responses to email. Nice professor: easy going, easy A. Throughout the semester, 13 of the lecture was cancelled, 6 quizzes based on the readings yet dropped the lowest grade, one term paper(a 4-5 pages essay), two extra credit Broadway shows, high class participation, fun readings, and fun class discussions, and fun BB posting writings.
He is a cool professor who gives a lot of extra credits. There are quizzes regarding the readings. He will let you know if there will be a quiz or no. The quizzes are really easy and basic as long as you read the materials. No midterms, one final paper. few long readings and the rest are pretty easy to read. No textbook he gives reading materials.
he such a awesome professor definitely recommend him. no final no mideterm only 5 pages one paper and few board discussion. his all stories are piece of cake. take him you won't regret him.
take him you won't regret it no midterm and only one littler final paper. easy grader. and few board discussion. I really glad to take him.
Choose him for an A with a minimum effort. ESLnon-native folks, take him and lessen your burden. That's all.
Professor Trogan is a really good professor. It is an easy class if you do the work assigned which is not much. The readings consists of short stories and gives short quizzes based on them. He makes the class fun and does his best to help the students out. I highly recommend taking this his class!
The grade consists of quizs, one final paper, notebook, participation and extra credits. An easy class especially for non native speakers. A lot of extra credit which just need you to go to a show and writer a short review.
He's punctual and starts the class with quizzes but don't worry because he drops the lowest grade. We had 5 quizzes; 5 blackboard postings; final paper (a 5-page essay) and attending live concert show for extra credit (3 points). Try to participate in class for good points and write notes. His class is good, fantastic and lovely. Take him ASAP.
Mr. Trogan is great professor. His classes and readings that he chooses are never boring. He gives quizzes every class, but they are not difficult if you do your home-readings. Super easy class. Professor always replies to emails. If you want an easy A, an intelligent professor, and an insightful readings - take professor Trogan!
Professor Trogan is an extremely caring and kind individual. It is clear he cares deeply for his students and is invested in the success of everyone who enters his classroom. There are quizzes every class on the readings, but they are relatively simple. One essay due at the end of the semester. One of the better profs I've had at Baruch.
Awesome professor! There are readings, blog postings, quizzes, and blackboard postings every week. He will also grade your notebook and give you a term paper for your final. Do the work, show up, take notes, and you will do great in this class. There will be a lot of group discussion in class. Prof. Trogan is caring and his classes are interesting.
Not many interesting readings. Workload kind of heavy, because it gets to you when you least expect it. So much reading. Walked in with high expectations bc of the reviews given, and I just want to say talk to students who already have taken him. Wouldn't recommend.
This is a hybrid course so we only met once a week. We have to post to the blackboard discussion board and Blogs@Baruch. We missed like four classes because he had injuries and family issues. He is a nice professor and lenient grader. He gives only 1 final 5 page essay. Quizzes are easy if you do the readings.
Idk why he doesn't have 100% on here. He's amazing and he cares so much for his students. Took him for the summer, readings were usually 10-20 pages in a small book (only 1 or 2 longish ones), grades mostly on participation, informal blog posts after every reading, and 5 formal 2 paragraph discussion board posts (one per week). Not hard AT ALL.
nice dude. very, very easy class. Iots of hand holding. mandatory attendance.
I have hated english and reading my whole life, so I dreaded having to take english in college. However, Professor Trogan actually made this class very manageable. It was a hybrid, so we met once a week. Each class, we had a short quiz on the reading from the previous week we were assigned. Not hard quizzes. 3 short papers which aren't hard to do.
A phenomenal professor he talk to his students one on one and make the time to give feedback and let you know where you need improvement.
Awesome professor takes time out gives you honest feedback. Great just great
One of the BEST Professors I've ever taken. Very chill, sends reminders of what needs to be done before due dates, which I like about him. There are discussion boards almost every week, also quizzes and one term paper. Easy, he's a very good grader.
Despite not meeting professor Trogan in person, he was still able to foster a friendly and enthusiastic attitude towards the class. He was very kind and understanding which made the online learning dilemma more manageable in a way.
The classical poems are fun and interesting. you have to post 2 paragraph each week based on that week's reading. We don't have meetings because the assignments replaces it. I saw the professor once for the final essay review. Always wondered if he was wearing blue color contact that time. If you are reading this professor, good luck to everything!
Asynchronous class and weekly assignments. Despite never meeting the professor for Zoom classes, he is extremely passionate about the reading assignments and it shows! The workload is manageable and some readings are very interesting. Very solid choice and would tale again!
Total Legend. Biweekly quizzes, discussion boards every week, and a final paper. It cannot get easier than this. As long as you put in at least a little effort, you are going to do great. Nicest and most understanding guy in the world. The books are great and the grading criteria is extremely clear. I would take Trogan for every English class.
Assigns work on Sunday night or Monday morning and discussion board is due on Wednesday's. Many different readings, I was confused on where to find them (maybe I'm just slow). Because of this I always felt behind but when I did do the assignments he was not a tough grader! Offers many videos and resources to help understand the readings. No midterm
Really understanding professor. He was super responsive to emails and he gave a reasonable amount of work. As long as you do the work and put effort into it, you'll do great! Just don't slack and most importantly, DO NOT PLAGIARIZE!! The work is so easy and you will get caught for sure.
The class itself is a lot of reading but the books were enjoyable. Weekly discussion board posting, a couple of quizzes and a final paper. He gave us the final paper very early on so we had plenty of time to work on it. He was very generous with his grading as long as you followed his instructions and submitted on time.
Makes the content easy to understand, and creates a friendly environment for everyone to participate. The discussion posts are fun to write and there is no midterm; a discussion post a week along with an essay due by the end of the semester, and that's it. Very lenient and encourages students to think deeper.
weekly readings .. quizzes & db posts based on the readings. the class is kinda built around participation, or else it just gets a bit awkward if no one speaks. one final paper at the end, nothing to worry about. as long as you complete all assignments you should be good. the book he uses is available as a pdf, don't buy it.
I havent receieved a grade yet but I have enjoyed his class. At first I was kind of scared to take his class but his class made it easy for me to understand. There are quizess every week but it is based on the readiinigs and as long as you read you will be fine. There are also discussion board and for the final it is just to do 5 page essay.
professor Trogan is a very nice professor. great discussions about the book, minimal group work during class, and quizzes before class that are straightforward. there may be a lot of reading, but it's very easy to grasp. one final paper, no midterm. participation matters, but he won't force you to speak. very simple as long as you put in effort.
Super nice! One reading and DB (2 or 3 q's) per wk. Short quiz on the reading each wk, done first thing in-class! He does the quiz the first few mins of class so try to get there before class starts. Participate! Love the Final, 5 pg- on themes of one of the reading and connect it to your own life. Unlimited Extra Credit - Go to Writing Center
Professor Trogan is a sweetheart. He truly cares about his students and wants them to do good in the class. Lots of reading for homework, but if you stay on top of it you'll be fine. Quizzes once a week but they're super easy (if you read the hw). He's super funny and I enjoyed his class a lot. Easy A. Take him if you can!
