He was very passionate about the subject he teaches, but was not very interesting and was pretty disorganized. His tests are pretty hard, so make sure you study.
hiss tests are extremely difficult, you will fail if you miss his class. boring class
This class already is a waste of time, he just makes it worse. His tests are so demanding, even if you don't miss any classes
He speaks very loud and reminds me of Dana Carvey from SNL. His tests are very hard. make sure you know the art very well. He is very helpful if you need to go get extra help during his office hours.
If you show up and take notes, you'll be good. If there is a question on the tests that very few people get, he throws it out. The tests aren't the easiest, but they certainly aren't the hardest. On the project, if you do what you are supposed to, you'll get a good grade.
THIS CLASS IS NOT HARD! He gives a study guide which contains all of the information for the test. He is passionate about the subject and entertaining. I would recommend it to anyone. There is a big project but if you turn it in early you will receive extra credit- turn it in early! it is worth the points not to procrastinate
Kinda goofy dude but really nice. His assigments are easy, tests are generally not that difficult if you study a little. Mostly a boring class, but he is a good teacher to take if you are sorta lazy.
He's a really good teacher. He's way funny and knows his stuff! Tests are not hard, just do the study guide. He's really nice and always willing to help. There are some readings and in class quizzes, but overall, it's pretty easy. Great class! I learned alot!
Bro Williams is kinda different, but really fun! He teaches great and you'll know exactly what's coming on the test. Go to class, do the quizes, pass the class!
Brother Williams loves the subjects he teaches and wants his students to be successful. His class is always fun, and he's very fair. He's the kind of teacher that makes you reconsider your major and change it to whatever he's teaching!
l LOVE BRO WILLIAMS! He's so funny and loves what he teaches! He is very fair. His class isn't easy but it's not impossibly hard. As long as you come to class, study, and work hard you'll be fine. It's not a good idea to miss class because he covers a lot of info in one class. So if you're a skipper...shape up! I highly recommend him.
great teacher, loves his topic and his students. gets you excited about humanities, and puts a lot of effort into it.
after taking his class, I changed my minor to humanities, he is so great! really loves his topic and gets students excited about it, understands that not everyone is as into art as he is, so the work load is very fair. if you go to class and study an A is definitely achievable. Loves humanities and teaching, you can tell he enjoys his students.
He's so awesome! I learned a ton. He makes it fun and interesting, yeah, even if you don't like Humanities! You should definitely take him. You have to study for the tests, obviously, but he gives you everything that is going to be on the tests. If you show up to class and just keep up on the assignments, you'll pass for sure!
A great teacher. He keeps class going and has a good sence of humor.
He is probably my favorite teacher at BYUI. his classes are a LOT of fun, very interesting and enjoyable. Not only does he know what he is talking about, but he makes it easy for students to learn and enjoy humanities. He provides study guides for every test that literally spell out EXACTLY what you will be tested on. GREAT teacher. take him!!!!
Great teacher, fun class! Gives out study guides for every test. He quizzed us in class but if you do the reading and actually come to class it should be and easy A
He is a very nice person overall. My least favorite part of the class was the cronicle. He didn't give very good insructions on how to do the chronicle until the semester wass past half way over. I think that I would have ratherd taking more tests, it would have been less work and I would have recieved better grades.
It was an okay. There was no textbook which was nice. The chronicle, which is just a daily journal, was not hard, just tedious. My only problem was that he said at the beginning of the semester that there would be no tests then half way through, he said he was going to give us a final. I didn't do well on the final, and still aced the class.
Bro Williams made me love history! I learned so much and was never bored in class. U can tell he loves his subject. The quizes are open book and attendance isnt mandatory but you wont do well without going. He has four big tests but do ur work and study and you'll be fine. I aced every one! He's funny too! GREAT CLASS!
this guy is pretty nice and fun when you first meet him. then you'll take one of his tests. now i cant stand his class. i go to him for help and he is unwilling to give it and says "we'll just see what happens to your grade". i will NEVER take a class from him again. ugh
This was an amazing class! Bro. Williams had my adoration from the start when he started out expressing his love for Egyptology (my favorite as well) Love the class, the art, beautiful. Well taught, quizzes easy. Just remember to take the chapter quizzes.
Brother Williams is really nice and funny, and his class is really easy as long as you're there and do the few assignments he gives, which are easy. Teaches really well and makes it interesting. First time teaching HUM 101 and he did pretty good.
Brother Williams was a great professor. He explained things so well that there was no need to ask questions, but if you asked one he had no problem taking time to explain it so you would understand. Bro. Williams was one of the best teachers I have ever had.
His tests are difficult but not impossible. He explains things well and has a great sense of humor.
Great guy, Very nice, funny! Willing to help when you needed it. The only negivite part is just the teaching style look at pictures all class every class and try and learn... it got very old very fast. there was 2 times we actually worked in groups which we should have done more of.. tests were actually pretty challenging. class=decent teacher=good
Very fun teacher, also extremely helpful and willing to talk to students out of class.
He is very nice and sometimes funny. Tough tests as with most HUM classes at BYU-Idaho. Sometimes he sounds/seems a little feminine with some of the things he does or says. fun to watch, really liked him.
Brother Williams is an awesome teacher, I loved his class. He has a great teaching style and makes everything clear. I highly recommend him.
STUDY YOUR BRAINS OUT. I actually learned a ton, but be prepared to study a lot. EXCELLENT teacher, he's way funny and respectful.
I really didn't know what humanities really was until I took his class. He is amazing! SO funny. I decided to become a humanities minor after taking his class. He's honest, & says a lot of what comes to his mind, which is hilarious. TAKE NOTES. You need them. He's very good at letting you know what will be on the test. My favorite teacher at BYUI.
I took this class from him because I took FDHUM 101 from him & I loved it. He is hilarious. TAKE NOTES. & you'll be surprised at how much in life has references to Star Wars. & Monty Python. :D
HILARIOUS I absolutely loved Brother Williams. I didn't really know what humanities was before, but after taking his class I am seriously considering changing my major. He is super entertaining and so nice and understanding. Can be difficult to know what information to put in your notes though. TAKE GOOD NOTES cause the tests are challenging.
Brother Williams is pretty hilarious but when it comes to his test his humor isn't quite enough. His test are ridiculously difficult! He is also kind of unwilling to truly help you out with your grade, if you are taking a class from him make sure you write EVERYTHING down and go home and study your butt of that same day!
I took this class because it was supposed to be about the fall, the creation, and the atonement. However, we learned about the theologies of the Egyptians, memorized paintings and classical songs, read macbeth, and never learned about the Atonement! If you ask why something was important, he'd say "if nothing else, it's interesting". Useless class!
I really hated his class. He treated the class like a 300 level class instead of a 100 level. His test are ridiculous and over all I felt like it was a theology class, not a humanities class.
bro. williams is really funny but wow is he hard. he made heroic journey seem like a four credit class. his tests are ridiculous, and we have homework every class period. if you take it from bro. williams, prepare to spend a lot of time studying.
I thought this class was unreasonably difficult for a 101 class. Bro. Williams is a pretty nice guy, but he can also be a little stubborn and arrogant at times. His final exam was almost impossible. I studied like crazy and only got a B. Wouldn't recommend him unless you like extremely challenging classes with lots of note-taking.
Brother Williams was an awesome teacher! He was always willing to listen and was a lot of fun. His test are hard, but if you attend class and are willing to put in the work you should do fine.
Such a horrible teacher. Super cocky and arrogant. He can be nice and funny..but it is very out weighed by everything else. His quizzes and tests wouldnt be bad if the material were covered or accessible, but its not. He is determined to make ppl think hes a good teacher by not giving an A.
Brother Williams is a funny guy who has a great sense of humor. I learned a lot from him. You cannot expect a good grade without working for it because we are in college you know. I feel like a learned quite a bit about the humanities. I would recommend taking him but it is not a walk in the park but you have to be willing to work for your grade.
GOSH! I loved this class so much! It was the best class I have ever taken. Not only is Bro. Williams such a great and funny guy I learned so much! The way he teaches makes you pay attention and want to learn. Sure you have to take tests; study, its a college class! But I recommed it to everyone!! :]
BEST CLASS EVER!!! By far the best class I've ever had. Bro Williams is super awesome, makes the class fun, and cares about the subjects he covers. I recommend this class to ANYONE whether you're a humanities major or not.
test are involved with large amounts of memorization of things never used in class. Also lots of reading that has nothing to do with class.
Great Teacher! I loved his humor and he loved what he taught. I would take this class if you want a bit of a challenge but you are ready to learn some facts on your own.
Really hard. makes everything sound so easy then grades brutally.
Brother Williams is really nice! but he grades hard and his tests are rough. Take notes on EVERYTHING you think might be important, because he tests you on lectures so go to class every day or you'll miss material. I like his calss, He's interesting. and he shows a lot of videos, and the subject is great as well. I liked it!
This has by far been my favorite class and Brother Williams my favorite teacher! He's really funny and is always adding fun videos throughout the class to keep things interesting. Now I'm not gonna lie, its not an easy A. He likes to push students when it comes to projects and homework, but this is the only way you actually learn anything!
Brother Williams is a great guy, really, but this class is all memorization and busy work. There was so much to do! We had some projects all the time, quizess every lesson(even when he said there's not going to be one). He said that something won't be on the exam, and then it was. If you take this class be ready for a lot of work and learning.
Suuuper great teacher! Surprisingly, my favourite class of the semester. Just do the work, take notes and enjoy it. It really opens your eyes to culture and helps you fall in-love with it. Absolutely a blast.
This was my favorite class of the semester! Brother Williams is INCREDIBLE. I learned a lot & had fun while doing so. Don't even think about taking humanities from anyone else...it'd be a huge mistake.
TAKE HIM, TAKE HIM, TAKE HIM. My favorite teacher of the semester. The best thing about him: his PASSION. You can tell he loves what he teaches, and loves his students. He works hard. Kindly answers questions, with a bit sass. He's goofy and good at capturing your attention. Very understanding. Prepare for class, do the work, and you'll do great!
His classes provide you with knowledge that carries with you throughout your life. He makes sure you understand a concept or an assignment and if you don't, he will always set aside time to talk, look through your papers with you, and explain more about the class. This class wasn't a walk in the park, but it was doable and more important - fun.
Never does POP Quizes. Little tough on the grading, especially when it comes to the photography portion. I got away with not reading McBeth but definitely read Les Miserables if you haven't already because you cannot get by without reading that book! The assignments are easy and straightforward and Bro. Williams is absolutely hilarious!!
This guy is makes it seem like this class is going to be easy but he is one of the hardest professors I've ever had. The tests are ridiculous. Don't take his classes.
Brother Williams is a really great teacher. He knows his stuff, but doesn't act too cocky about it. He is funny and makes class exciting. The work load is not tough. The hardest part about this class were the music exams. Other than that, this class was a breeze. I would take him again.
This class was the good kind of tough. Brother Williams is really interested in the subject matter and will require you to ACTUALLY read and ACTUALLY do the work, but it's rewarding and fun. This class is really straightforward if you 1) have a brain and 2) follow the directions. He's a fabulous teacher and I would take him again any day.
He gave a ton of busy work and made my finals week even more miserable. Not only did his final end earlier he gave out huge projects days before and more assignments. And on top of that, he was unclear what he wanted for assignments and was a tough grader. Tests were hard.
Bro. Williams was awesome, you don't want to slack off in class and you definitely want to DO the work but he is awesome! Only issue i had was with the music portion other than that it was an easy class. Loved him! He was funny and was open to other opinions and really explaining things. One of my favorite teachers by far
Provided absolutely no assistance, explanation, or guidance throughout the course of this class. Very rude and unpleasant to deal with. Responded to my requests for help with harsh criticism and rudeness. He is very condescending to students, and frankly sets them up for failure. Clearly he doesn't care about learning at all.
Brother Williams made Humanities interesting. I was not excited to take the class, but it turned out to be my favorite. He does give a lot of homework, but usually gives you the couple of days before a test homework free. If you take good notes on his lectures, you can pass!
LOVED this class! He expects a lot out of his students but makes the class interesting and worth coming to. He's a wonderful teacher and very knowledgeable but entertaining. My only advice would be to MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING HE WRITES ON THE BOARD because the class covers a lot of random content and he puts the most important things up there.
Brother Williams is so fun! I loved his class! But, a word of caution. His tests are pretty hard. Make sure you write down EVERYTHING he writes on the board and study it out! You'll love th class and not like the tests.
Loved, loved, loved the class. Expect to read alot and do the homework. If you attend the classes and do the homework you can earn an A. I loved the subject. The Heritage notebook seemed difficult at first, but then was easier to identify items in our culture from influenced by the ancients. Great teacher!
Brother Williams is by far my favorite teacher. He is challenging, but I learned so much through the course of this semester! The discussions that he led were very interesting and he always takes time to listen to what you have to say. If you ever need help, he makes himself available so he can help in the best way. I highly recommend his classes!
I LOVE BROTHER WILLIAMS. He loves what he teaches and helps you to love it too. The tests are pretty hard just because it covers A LOT. You learn so much in his class and it is things that will last you a lifetime. The class isn't easy, but you get a lot out of it. I would highly recommend him. Pay attention, study hard & you'll pass.
Brother Williams is by far one of the hardest teachers I have taken a class from. However, that does not mean I will not take another from him. If you want to learn, take his class. I have become a better student because of his feedback and lectures. I absolutely love him, which means you'll love him too just as long as you keep an open mind.
Brother Williams is an amazing teacher. He does grade hard on the writing assignments though so take them seriously and consider going to the writing center for help on even the small writing assignments. I must admit I didn't have time myself to do that (and still miraculously got an A somehow), but if you do have time, it could only help.
Amazing! So funny and I had him at 8am! Hes awesome. His assignments are relative and easy. Super easy grader. There is about an hour and a half of hw or so, not hard. Super lieutenant with due dates. And he let me do a group project by myself cause I hate group projects!
This was my favorite class this semester! Brother Williams taught us a lot but also gave us video breaks that eased the tension. He is smart, caring, funny, and infectiously passionate about what he's teaching! There's a lot of homework, but it's not pointless busy work. Humanities class was my refuge from life's troubles this semester.
this man is the reason i changed my major to humanities. his 101 class literally changed my life. brilliant professor, easy class if you know how he makes the tests (everything on our tests he wrote on the whiteboard. keep track of that and you'll ace it. I put stars next to that stuff, it was always on tests). super funny and charming, too.
I LOVED THIS CLASS!!!! I am a business major and most people say that business majors don't care to take humanities, but this class is worth it! Bro. Williams is so funny and he really makes you understand the material! We hardly had any homework, but you did need to study for tests, obviously. I even looked forward to this class at 8AM!
Bro. Williams is a good guy just the class takes advantage of the fact that he can become easily distracted. He gives a lot of busy work and doesn't prepare you for the test. He stated at the first music test that the class generally drops a whole letter grade, this to me showed that he is a poor teacher.
Steer clear of this class and teacher! He gives you about 3 different projects at the same time and acts as though his class his the only one that you are taking. You are expected to read over 100 pages in a day. His tests are EXTREMELY hard. Lots of memorization. Loads of reading and watching videos and quizzes. Take this class from someone else!!
Professor Williams is such a nice teacher who is very passionate about what he teaches which makes his lessons very enjoyable. There is a lot of homework and a lot of reading but if you do it, it is very easy to pass. I have learned so much in this class.
Williams is fun, clear, and has very reasonable expectations for homework. The literature unit has a heavier work load because you have to read a classic in two weeks, but he splits up the units so you get a break. His tests can be a bit specific, but if you're paying attention and doing the readings, you should be fine. Would definitely recommend.
Brother Williams is a great guy. I really enjoyed his classes and the way he teaches. His lectures are interesting and he's not boring to listen to at all. I enjoyed every class and learned a lot. He's kind of a tough grader so just make sure you give 100% to every assignment and make sure you study everything he writes on the board.
I loved art before this class, and I love it now. Brother Williams was respectful of individuals opinions. He does require a lot from his students (I.e. reading 100 pages from Les Misérables in 3 nights) because he is under a time constraint. I am super glad he was my teacher. He was willing to recognize his shortcomings and fix them when necessary
Christopher Williams is very funny man if you can understand his sarcasm. He is also very kind and will work with anyone if you give your best efforts.
Bro. Williams is a goof. He's hilarious and give great lectures. He is super personable and really cares about his students. Would definitely take him again. Be sure to study for the tests, and you'll pass.
All of his courses are the best classes I have ever taken. I always wish I studied more for all of them than I did.
I took HUM 376 from Brother Williams, and I really enjoyed it. He is a tough grader, but the class is worth the effort! He is funny and will joke around with students. Also, get ready for Star Wars analogies!
He has impossible grading criteria. One of his grading categories (a really heavy part of it) is visual ascetics. While it was interesting and insightful, it was extremely difficult to get the grades you deserve because of ridiculous things such as picture placement and sources where photos are found. Take from someone else if you can.
Never take a class form him, especially humanities. Requires to much of you. Useless assignments. Takes way too long to do the assigments. Makes you memorize macbeth quotes which youll forget after the semester anyways. Makes you take useless art and music quizes in class.
I saw the reviews that said dont take him for humanities but I did it anyway... bad idea... he gives useless quizzes every night for homework on top of all this other useless stuff. When you ask him the point of all the work in class he gives some BS reason.. pissed me off lol... hes a good guy just really a lot of unnecessary material/homework.
Professor Williams is a great teacher. The problems are that he is unorganized, work load heavy, and the tests are way hard. Memorization is key. He is probably way easier during regular semesters. But DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS DURING SUMMER SESSION.
He was a fairly good teacher but I had a really hard time in the class. Lots of reading. Lots of interpreting of movies, books, etc. Big class.
Glad I took it in 7 weeks because I can't imagine taking it for 14. He assigned busy work & never focused on what was most interesting & important. He was unorganized & jumped all over the topics. There were quizzes every night based on readings. Both the music & art quizzes, as well as the exams were hard because it was all based on memorization.
In my opinion, it was way too much work for a 100 level class. Brother Williams is a nice and funny guy, but he expects too much from students that are only taking his class because they have to. There's a lot of reading and memorization as well. There are a couple group projects that take an unnecessary amount of time. He does grade easy though.
For HUM110, he gives the same work load as all the teachers. It requires actual effort to think critically, analyze, and appreciate the arts. Lol. For HUM 376 he is super friendly, didn't grade reading responses hard but was tough on papers. It makes you a better writer! He is accessible outside of class and can be flexible if needed. He is great!
Super nice and helpful! Willing to meet outside of class to help develop paper.
Brother Williams treats this class like an upper level humanities class. His class will have 5x more work than other teachers. You have to memorize countless paintings, quotes, and classical music. I would not recommend this teacher for 110. I have not had this much work for foundations class my whole time here at BYUI
WORST HUMANITIES TEACHER! HE was a good guy im sure for some people he is a great teacher but he expected us to complete many projects that took up lots of time. HE had many in class tests many with only little preparation time. he didnt go over what would be on his testes and his work for a foundation course was astronomical.
Bro. Williams is easily one of the best professors I have ever had. Im not a humanities major, but this class made me want to change that. Hes funny and makes humanities relatable. There is a good course load that you need to do, but hey, its college, get used to it. He knows his stuff and he loves what he teaches.
Solid prof.
Brother Williams really knows what he's talking about and makes humanities way more interesting than I thought it would be! The class is lecture-based, but he makes everything applicable and easy to understand.
Williams is by far one of my favorite teachers that I have had here. You will do a lot of reading in this class so be prepared. The projects are small and fun so don't worry about that. Honestly, if you just pay attention and TRY, you will be just fine. HE will make class very entertaining, you won't want to miss it.
Professor Williams knows his stuff, but he knows too much. If you aren't extra talented in memorizing, his class is not the best option. Because his lectures had an overload of information, it was very difficult to stay focused. Still got a decent grade, but definitely felt like I was putting way too much effort into it than necessary.
The only reason I say that this class is hard is because he requires you to think for yourself. His papers are fairly open ended so you really have to care. We always had a great time in class despite the seminar topic being slightly obscure. I learned a ton and absolutely love Williams. He will always work with you because he wants you to succeed.
The midterm and final are worth 40% of your grade total and they are complete memorization that is a written test. He gives you so much information to remember that it is hard to get a good grade. He treats it like a grad school class. I don't have a hard time in history, but this class was really hard. I would not recommend this class.
This was my favorite class this semester by far! Take brother Williams, the lectures are interesting and engaging. I even enjoyed the homework for the most part. Definitely one of my favorite Professors.
OnE of my favorite professors by far! He is engaging and knows his stuff. I love his class!
I have never rated a professor before but I think people should be warned before taking his class that he is going to make you work for a good grade more than he should. I am one who likes to learn and I like to take the harder classes but this was supposed to be a foundations class. 100 pages of reading a week with quizzes and papers most classes.
He is a great teacher but it was soooo much work for a 100 level class. Expect tons of homework, lots of papers and the tests are HARD. His lectures are really good though and he always posts his powerpoints and notes on canvas which is nice since there is no textbook.
I made an account on Rate my Professor just to review this professor. WILLIAMS WILL EXPECT YOU TO MEMORIZE AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF ARTWORK AND MUSICAL PIECES. If you take this course from other professors or online you will not have to do this tedious work. I highly recommend you avoid the unnecessary frustration and take this from someone else.
Sitting here very frustrated at my final grade in the class because I did not miss one class through the whole semester, took notes every class and studied hard but yet did not receive the grade I deserved. Gives way to hard of assignments for a foundations class and tests you on things we do not cover in class. He's very nice but I HATE his class
He will give you assignments without any context and its your job to go and figure out how to do them without any background knowledge. Also everything that you learn in class won't be on the test. The major things that you learn in class also won't be important on the test its very small insignificant details that he focuses on.
I did good in this class but it should not have taken this much work. legit for a three credit class I was spending 15+ hours a week studying for this STUPID class. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES AT ALL COSTS. SAVE YOURSELF NOW WHILE YOU CAN.
Knowledgable and a good teacher but tests are not given on material he teaches. Lots of personal study required and tests are given on specific information that you must know and study yourself. Kind of annoying
Brother Williams is not a good art history teacher. His lectures convey information but are messy and the information is often not clear. He does not teach very much actual content, but assigns videos to watch and expects you to take notes from the videos to understand the material before it is even lectured about. Not a fan
I had brother williams for west culture prehist/renaissance. He definitely new his stuff and cares about his students, however, that class was pretty difficult. What I mean by that is that grades depended on 3 big projects, the tests, and rarely else, and the tests were fairly hard. Very interesting class and nice guy, just hard.
i took art history from brother williams and hated everything about the class. lecture and instruction is unclear and confusing, tons of homework (papers and projects), and makes you take notes and take a quiz before he even lectures on things.
Kind of a boring class. The tests were hard, and felt useless. The worst thing was the papers/portfolio... One was over 30 pages long. And the other two were over 20. So if you don't like writing don't take his class. I started all of them 2 or 3 days before and got pretty good grades. Sometimes the rubric wasn't the best for them though.
I could never pay attention in this class. It was super boring. There were so many times he would have us read something before class and then he would talk about it the full hour and a half. There is a lot of tedious work that felt very unnecessary to me.
Bro Williams was super understanding of how difficult school is rn (online, covid) and will make needed adjustments for each student if you just talk to him, allowed late submissions, his tests are super easy if you do the homework and pay attention in class. 100% would take him again. Made the class really fun.
Brother Williams is a good professor. His lectures or rubrics were sometimes a little vague, but he's very willing to clarify. Most of your grade are tests and web portfolio checks so prioritize them!!! I think I got the grade I deserved and it was a really interesting class.
Bro. Williams is very knowledgeable in his field. However, it's straight lecture, and he just kind of spews information without really teaching you. The tests are hard and it's all memorization. Get ready to remember dates, time period, author, location, any significant history of the specific art, and general description.
For a 100 level course he sure makes it a Hell for students. A lot of unnecessary assignments which he can't even grade on time, memorization, and back to back essays. Don't take the class from him unless he's the only option. If you are ready to stress yourself over a class that doesn't concern your major. Feel free. If not you have been warned.
Really nice and funny guy. Just a lot of work. Highly recommend though if you're willing to put in the work!!
Brother Williams is awesome. Lots of readings, writings, and videos to watch before class, usually at least 45 minutes worth and sometimes a worksheet or a few paragraphs. He ensures everyone understands the material and loves what he does. He's so kind and so funny and cares about his students. There's lots of short essays but they're pretty easy.
Brother Williams is entertaining and relatable. Understanding and always willing to waive late penalties when needed. Grades essays hard but as long as you do what he suggests you'll get full credit if you make changes and resubmit. Short essays, an ePortfolio, lots of prep work before class. Prep work is just graded on whether you do it or not.
I LOVE Brother Williams. There is a lot of reading for this class and it requires a lot of work but you learn SO much. He really prepares you for other harder classes and not to mention he ties the gospel to a lot of what he teaches. He cares so much about his students and he wants you to succeed.
I would take a bullet for Brother Williams. He is passionate, engaging, and interested in students' growth, both academically and spiritually. I felt respected and encouraged. His course reminded me why I chose to attend BYU Idaho.
Super inconsistent. His classes are fun sometimes and he does allow students to joke around which is fine. The assignments are a lot of busy work. He also can be a tough grader sometimes but never gives feedback. Class periods are unfocused. Overall pretty inconsistent with homework, late penalties, and accessibility. This was one of the most amazing courses I've ever taken. Very interesting material and Brother Williams is so knowledgeable and has an interesting perspective on a lot of things. Lecture-based, but the lectures were incredible. About three hours of homework a week but it varied. Pretty easy A as long as you do the work and pay attention.
Great professor, tough class. He did a great job of fostering deep discussions. Classes were unfocused a lot of the time, but he always made sure we went over what we needed to know for the tests. He focused more on developing our abilities to critically think rather than just pass a test, so I really appreciated that!
Brother Willams is a great person and keep the class interesting, he's a funny entertaining teacher. His tests are closed note, and the workload for the class is pretty hefty. There is a lot of reading that you have to do, and you have a paper due every week. His teaching style is good but he crams a lot into his lectures in a short amount of time.
Bro Williams is kind and always willing to help. This course is taught as a team by the Humanities Department, so it is not really Brother Williams teaching. This course is exceptionally heavy on the workload. But since it is the universal course for online HUM110, it doesn't really matter which instructor you choose, the workload will be the same.
Professor Williams' class is challenging but worthwhile. The lectures are engaging, and he connects the material to the gospel. The workload is heavy, but staying on top of it pays off. unstuck AI was a helpful study tool alongside the readings.
He is awesome! I am someone that couldn't care less about the subjects in his class but he taught in a way that made me interested. Super generous grader and a really stand up guy. If humanities is your major take as much of Brother Williams as you can.
I loved brother William's class! This is the only non-religion class so far that required me to think, not just memorize and regurgitate. He is clearly passionate about what he teaches, and connects well with students. His example has inspired me to consider becoming a Hum. professor myself. Take his class. If you aren't lazy you won't regret it.
Bro Williams knows his stuff but is not good at teaching it. Don't take this class if you don't already know about ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome and the Medieval period. He explains everything at a level that requires quit a bit of background information to understand which makes class CONFUSING. There are also UNCLEAR EXPECTATIONS for test content.
I really enjoy Brother's William's, he knows his stuff, his fun and very caring for his students.
Awesome lectures, covered lots of content, it was fun!
Brother Williams is such a kind and caring professor who genuinely loves to teach. The class itself was very work-heavy and had assignments that took forever to complete. If you don't have a lot of knowledge about humanities, I wouldn't recommend taking this class, as the tests are very challenging.
