The second best butt in the department!
biggest waste of star dust, time, money, and chemical bonds ever
i don't even think he reads the essays he grades. and he's not a very good writer. his sample essays look like they were written by a 12 year old.
His arrogance is surpassed only by his inability to explain the informat
hes a good writer and i think he tries to make it simple but your papers will never be good enough. hes incredibly cynical, and yeah he had one person he always made fun of in our class too. don't expect this to be the easy A freshman english class
Any professor who lets me write a paper on the movie "Dazed and Confused" gets a good vote from me. If you know how to write a decent paper you'll have no problem in his class.
at the beginning of the year I hated him, but you've just got to learn how he thinks. He will make fun of you. He will give you C's on all your paper even if you work your ass off. But if you really need help, he'll help you. He's not THAT bad, but he CAN make people feel like crap.
straight up jack A** it so hard to look forward to a class when you know you're just going to be bashed on.
Grading of papers is extremely stiff.
Prof. Wilson is a very demanding teacher. Some of his in class comments might seem rude, however, he seems to be a nice guy. He is very good at making time for individual help and if you decide to talk to him individually about a papper he is extremely helpful.
If you want to ruin your GPA take this class. Like someone previously said on here, your paper will never be good enough. Class time is wasted with non-pertinent issues being discussed not even relating to english. Don't expect to get a good grade.
He's arrogant and pompous but most of the time he's right about papers. If you take this course it WILL demand work not the average BS that is acceptable with most other teachers. Advice if you like a challenge go for it if not switch teachers.
Most people don't like Chris, but this is only because they are still used to high school half-ass work. He is gonna make fun of you and he is gonna be harsh, but this is his motivational tool. He knows you aren't gonna learn if he babies you. The class isn't easy, but hard work gets decent grade
He does give everyone C's on their papers and no matter what there is always something that he wants you to fix.You cannot get an A!He made me feel like an idiot and yeah he makes fun of everyone, I did not like going to that class!
He was super specific on what he wanted in each paper. Which actually made it easier to write. Just fill in the blanks of what he wanted. He is extremely helpful on papers and wants all his students to do well. I got an A. Go into this class expecting to learn how to write.
Exceptional teacher, but a challenging class. Take this class if you want to learn how to write well. His sarcasm and wit make for a very fun class room experience. Cheers to Chris
Chris is/was an ****. His class is hilarious, I loved his sarcasm and wit. He wants you to do well in class, just ask for help. He won't bite off your head, even though he seems like he will. If you work hard it shows if not he'll make fun of you.
I had Chris for freshman English in Fall '99 and he was the one who taught me how to write a paper! The knowledge I got in that class helped me every single semester of my 7 years at MU. He was the best teacher I ever had. If your grade on a paper is poor, speak with him at office hours and he will help you earn that A. He wants you to succeed.
He made the class interesting. Was sarcastic and merciless, but fair. If you did the work, he stayed away from you, but if you didn't, watch out!
I took his survey World Literature class. The only grades in a class are one paper of a very unclear topic that only makes sense to him, some quizzes (easy if you read the assigned reading), written tests, and participation points. Speak up in class(you get points automatically)but you better have something constructive to say or he'll tear you dow
Great Teacher, Very nice Guy. Very understanding and interacts with the students
This class was horrible. He uses the worst examples that basically just confuse you more than you already are. He drifts off topic to pointless things and treats you like you are an idiot if you don't understand him. Horrible teacher, made me hate writing, don't take his class!
doesn't return papers very fast and gives 3 essays but no tests or quizes. I had basically no clue what my grade was until it was on myzou.
He scares me
He definately taught us how to write but the class is extremely difficult. Would not take another english teacher, just expect a drop in your GPA after the class. Great learning experience though.
Ridiculous. I felt no matter what I did or how much help I got, it was never good enough. I would to the writing lab 4 times for each paper, and the tutors would become just as exasperated as I was. He tries to help your papers, but you will end up with a C no matter what. At least you get to read Vonnegut...
He was the most ridiculous teacher ever. No matter how hard you work or how many times I took my paper to the writing lab, I would get it back with a C. The writing lab people were always as shocked as I was. I learned more from my writing intensive than this class. I ended up with a B in this class and an A in my writing intensive. Don't take him
He seemed to know what he spoke about, but I took World Lit, so there was little writing. He is a smarta** but it actually gets my attention. He doesn't use the Internet for anything, but explains everything pretty well in class. He is verbatim from the text book, so do the reading assignments. He makes you actually work and you begin to appreciate the value of an actual A. If you start the class slacking, just drop-you will probably not pass. Be on your toes! Good class.
This guy is definitely not for overly sensitive ppl, his humor is mean but awesome. Easy class if you do the reading and show up, he likes pop quizzes. If you embrace his humor, you'll love it. Though he even says himself that he's rough on ENG 1000 students.
tough personality, funny, but hard to get along with. hav a walking discussion with him to your next class and youre on his good side. be a good student and youll be ok.
Professor Wilson has been my absolute favorite teacher since I've been at Mizzou. His class is interesting and he is hilarious. He genuinely cares about his students if they put in the effort, and wants you to get a good grade. You have to put in a good amount of work to get the A, though. Beware.
Difficult class but hands down I have learned the most from Chris. He is a great guy that will help you if you ask for it. Definitely worth taking.
PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH CHRIS WILSON. He takes Eng 1000 way too serious... be ready to throw out any prior knowledge youve learned.
You will learn a lot, but your grade won't show it. Sorry... Nice enough guy if you try to get to know him.
Professor Wilson was the best professor I had at Mizzou. I was in his freshman English class and he essentially taught me everything I know about writing. His class is hard, but SO worth it. Not to mention, he will write a hell of a rec letter later in life. He is a great guy, take ADVANTAGE of his office hours, he WANTS to help you.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Professor Wilson takes English 1000 way too seriously for a freshmen level course. I got As in English all through high school and got a C in his class. Although he knows what he's talking about, he should be an honors teacher or a higher level course. If you do not like English listen to me and DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE!
He's extremely sarcastic, but it can be funny. Hard grader. Got a D on the first test, did everything he told me to do to prepare for the next test and still only got a C. He's also moody. You can easily tell when he doesn't want to be there.
NOTHING YOU WRITE WILL BE GOOD ENOUGH, EVER. He is VERY sarcastic and negative which makes all classes extremely uncomfortable. Makes no effort at professionalism and acts as if teaching is a prison sentence he is forced to endure daily. Sarcastic, demeaning remarks at students are daily. Very harsh grader. No grades posted all semester. AVOID.
Wilson's a beast, he's a tough grader but that's because kids come to expect easy A's on papers. He's a funny guy and is down to talking sports with you after class. Definitely Recommended.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! He is an awful teacher. Grades way too difficultly for a 1000 level course. I am a decent writer and I got a C in his class. If you want to keep a good GPA listen to me and NEVER TAKE WILSON'S CLASS. You will regret not listening to me...
Yes, Professor Wilson is sarcastic, arrogant, and a tough grader. However, it is not impossible to do well in his class, as long as you put the work in. I attended every class and paid attention and participated. That's what he expects of you and it is rewarding at the end. He will notice your hard work. Not a bad class IF you put in the effort.
He is a great teacher. Very sarcastic and makes the classroom a fun place to be in. He is a tough grader and makes you work for a good grade. Doesn't just let you get by easy like most English teachers do. He is challenging but taught me so much. Highly recommend
I really enjoyed English Lit with Professor Wilson. He is very intimidating at first, but once he gets used to the class and you get used to him, he is very entertaining. You have to go to class, and you have to do the readings because he gives lots of pop quizzes. And participation is big! But don't be afraid to speak up, he likes it! Good luck!
This is the WORST. TEACHER. EVER. PERIOD. I took AP English Comp in high school and received a B- but was unable to take the AP test. EVERY PAPER I HAVE GOTTEN BACK HAS BEEN A D OR LOWER despite working my ass off. Grading is totally unreasonable. When you want help he's not there. The writing lab is useless for this class, as is he. He's awful.
Professor Wilson is a funny, sarcastic guy. I actually didn't like him at first in the beginning of the semester, but he grew on me and he tries to make the class fun by sharing stories and being a jokester. As far as the class, I ended up with a low B. He is VERY SPECIFIC to what he wants on essays, which I guess makes it easier to do well.
Yeah he can be sarcastic and a bit condescending, but he's honestly one of my favorite professors. Get him alone and talking about something other than class and he's absolutely wonderful! He's passionate about you really leaning something, so he does grade hard. He basically gives you what you need to know for tests, and if you read you'll do fine
In class he can be very in your face and rude, however; he is hilarious and really gets you interested in the class. You can miss up to four classes but highly not recommended you will miss a pop quizzes that are essential to passing. The entire class is 500 points. Going into office hours will surely help!
Fantastic teacher. At first he came off as quite condescending/over the top, but he grows on you throughout the semester. He makes the class enjoyable and is very clear about what you need to do in order to do well. Would highly recommend taking a class with him.
I honestly never though I would enjoy a literature class until I took this one. He's humor is sometimes random but the sarcasm honestly it made the class so enjoyable. His lectures are actually interesting and he's a great guy He's a tough grader and expects a lot on tests and essays so take some really good notes.
Do your best, turn in assignments on time, and you shouldn't get less than a B. He just wants to know you are trying.
lol I'm an honors student and I had a 4.0 first semester, and I have all A's in my classes except for this one. I'm literally pulling a low C because of how ridiculous his grading is. Yeah, he makes very valid points with what he grades. But, he takes off way too many points for small stuff. Wouldn't recommend; take another professor. Anyone else.
Very sarcastic and can come off as rude but all around a good teacher and hilarious guy. If you don't read you're not going to do well but as long as you do and you pay attention in class, he's very clear on what you need to do to do well.
He was the worst professor I've had here, he singles out individuals and you can work your butt off on an essay but he grades so hard for an English 1000 class.
Prof Wilson has hands down taught me better than any other English teacher. Sure, he is a hard grader. But if you show him that you want to do well, by showing up to class, actually participating, and going to office hours, you can get an A. He wants to know that you're trying, and you will definitely become a better writer after this class.
when you turn in papers, he takes too many points for small, insignificant errors. he's also really sarcastic, and sometimes rude.
Hardest class I've ever taken. He makes it impossible to pass. The highest grade on our first paper was a C. He only gives you 2 papers so get ready to fail.
You definitely have to do the reading to pass, but it's okay because the reading is interesting. He's very sarcastic and funny! I learned a lot from this class. He's very specific in his grading but if you pay attention in lecture you can easily pass. Your grade is based on three quizzes, one paper, and class participation. 10/10 would recommend!
Wilson is a funny guy and makes class a good time. But half way through the semester over half my class had a D or F. I talked to him and he told me a should take a W for the class and retake it. I did so and got a 100% with someone else (Carley Gomez). Get out of his class, he hands out grades as he feels, not what you have earned.
He is honestly really mean most of the time. He says how our generation sucks and everything a sad middle age man says. He also doesn't put grades up on canvas so you don't know what your grade is at all. Make sure you participate because a lot of points stem from that.
Wilson is a super hard grader, but usually if he's "mean" in class it's for good reason. A lot of students in English 1000 don't take it seriously. I wasn't a fan of his teaching in 1000, but he was absolutely AMAZING in English 1310. I was so intrigued by every word he said. Also, he's super nice when you talk to him during his office hours!
Worst professor I have ever had in college. Extremely rude and passive aggressive and defensive. Went to writing center for help and they couldn't even understand his assignments. Made class hard to go to because I was scared of him. Extremely hard to pass with an A. Got a 32 on my ACT writing portion and passed with a B. He made me dislike english
Not going to lie, Professor Wilsons eng1000 course is challenging for what it is. Some see him as sarcastic and sometimes rude, but it is never with malicious intent. YOU must READ directions! He docks a lot for errors. You need to show up to class or your grades will suffer. Not many assignments. Great guy to talk to during office hours!
Chris is funny, and his class was entertaining. Assignments were very confusing but could be better understood if you attend his office hours. Hated class while it was going on, but now that I am done, I realize it could have been way worse. We had to write two 4-page papers the whole semester. I think I might miss his sense of humor...
Extremely disorganized class and assignments were unclear. Professor treated students pretty bad and was kind of abusive to some members of class. Teacher was erratic, out of control, and unfair to students
He's a funny guy, but his teaching method was retarded. He wants you to turn in your final draft and then make you do peer reviews. Who does peer reviews after you already got a grade on the essay.
He's hilarious at times, but also ridiculously sarcastic. He really wants you to know that he's more intelligent than you. He grades very harshly, and he's not the easiest guy to approach for help. He's super qualified but could chill out a little bit and probably help a lot more students. He runs class super efficiently, so don't miss anything.
Eng1000 should be an easy A class but he makes it terrible. Get a different professor if you can. The course was not work heavy at all. We only wrote two 4 page papers. His directions are hard to understand and you have to follow them EXACTLY to get a decent grade. You can't miss more than 5 classes or he makes you drop.
If you get Wilson for eng1000 find a different professor instead. He is an extremely tough grader and I personally was not a fan of his sense of humor. Definitely way too difficult of a professor for an English 1000 class.
He's very sarcastic. He gives little chances to improve your grade by focusing mainly on pop quizes.
If you get Prof Wilson, transfer classes. I'm more than decent at writing & I love doing it, but this class made me hate it. The assignments aren't clearly outlined & forget about asking for help. Not to mention, he's the toughest grader you'll ever have. Also, know you have to go to class because he'll remember & call you out if you don't. 0/10.
If you have professor Wilson for next semester just switch. The assignments make no sense and are near impossible to get a good grade on. I have always been a good writer but somehow can not manage to get above a B on anything. Also he is just straight up rude and thinks he is funny. 90% of the class is just him talking about literally nothing.
Prof Wilson may be a bit of an acquired taste. He can be a bit much for some students during class, even me at times. There won't be that many essays during the semester, but they will be large in scope. Grading is very tough but peer reviews and conferences with the Prof help a bit with this. In class can be fun but overall I wouldn't recommend.
He takes forever to grade and there are few grades. Not a lot of papers but they are worth a lot of points. very hard grader. Nice guy though
He was horrible. DO NOT TAKE HIM. He is rude. He takes forever to grade. You will not get a good grade in this class. He needs to be fired. All my classmates and I felt uncomfortable in his class everyday.
His class isn't for everyone because his sense of humor is kind of odd. There is only 3 papers though and the first two are only between 3-4 pages which is doable. The last paper was pretty hard though because there were a lot of limitations. But if you go office hours, go to class, and follow directions you'll be fine.
He and his class as a whole was extremely frustrating. Grades are based off 3 papers, which he takes forever to grade. Each paper must be multiple pages long (between 3-8) and I was always confused about his expectations. Very weird sense of humor. Participation is worth a lot of points and if you miss more than 5 classes, he'll drop you.
lowkey loved him he makes class entertaining you can never be bored or he will call you out in front of everyone
He's terribly rude to students, a harsh grader, and wastes half of class making us sit there listening to him talking about nonsense that has nothing to do with the class. Very strict on the papers we turned in and took forever to grade.
The professor takes forever to grade and will spend the entire hour and fifteen minute class ranting about absolutely nothing instead of spending class time on work and learning. He is stubborn and also doesn't provide you with the tools to succeed like how other professors do.
He made class very uncomfortable and hard to sit through with his odd sense of humor. His methods of teaching are hard to follow and very rarely does what he is talking about make sense. He also grades based only on 3 essays and a couple of other small assignments related to the essays. Go to his office hours, it helps improve your essay grades.
