good prof exams were easy/straighforward and marking was pretty fair!

Not bad, just unfortunate to have class so early in the morning.
pretty easy and straight forward class

awesome prof. very clear and very helpful.
nice prof.the exams were straightforward and fair.he understands that students need a life,so he told us clearly where the exams would mostly be derived from.
Nice Prof I've ever had!
1 of da best profs @ sfu...although lectures can be boring at times...
Notes online. Uses powerpoint. Shows videos, funny sometimes too. Final was all MC
this guy's funny
Great lecturer, fair marker, and is very straight forward with material for examination. Pretty much everything you want in a proff. I would highly recommend him!
Boring class, not worth the time. If I wanted psychology, I would have taken it. Should not be a prerequisite because everything is logical, other than some useless theories
Great Prof, fair and nice
Funny prof in an otherwise boring class. Clear lecturer. This course was harder than I thought it would be though.
Good professor...somewhat amusing sense of humour, lectures can be boring, final exams was super easy
funny, interesting, and nice prof. his exams are decent, too. i quite enjoyed his class
nice and easy class. very young and enthusiastic. almost makes you care about a useless subject.
Exams were mostly MC so they were pretty easy if you know the material. He's a fair and decent prof.
amazing public speaker. class was interesting. exams were fair. excellent prof. definitly recommend him.
Nice guy. Pretty easy going. Exams are either all MC or mostly MC. Has a nice teaching style. I'd recommend taking 272 with him.
My favorite business prof and my favorite business subject. I only went to one lecture the entire course, and got an A in it! Way easy and interesting subject!
nice!
easy course, but since it's easy, dont expect u will be abover the average all the time. This course is really interesting.. take it with chris if you can.
easy teacher i guess, lectures are very boring, he repeats what's in the txbk. you can just read the book.
He's a great and funny prof. The midterm and final were tricky but if you put in the time to study his notes you'll do great. The exams are very fair. Just make sure to participate as much as possible in tutorial!!
Not bad a good american finally
great teacher great course, take OB with him. lecture is useless but u better go, :) must participate in tutorial ~~
He was a bit boring, but i still liked his class. A fair bit of work. Final was tough. Midterm was easy.
Exams aren't easy. But he's a good prof. Funny & nice.
one of my fav prof. I think his exams may be a bit tricky, but reasonable. very clear and outspoken prof.
He is a very nice and helpful professor. Exams are tricky though
He is my favortie teacher. The reason why I decided to do a joint major in business and psychology. The course really opens your mind in understanding how organizations work. He is really clear and the concepts are really easy to understand. Recommend him 100%.
Very hot, approachable, clear, informative and not that difficult. Recommended.
We know that you're American and USED to work for KPMG, shut up already! Take 272 with Hannah, he's hot. For all you blind people who think Zataick is hot, get your eyes checked.
Very good prof. Mentionned KPMG a lot, but really got the point across with whatever he was teaching. Tutorials were where most of the action happened. Helps that the TA was hot ;) However midterms and final were tricky because of many definitions and terms. Study Study!!
fun lecture and tutorial. nice class.
He's just....i dunno, so many things i dont like about him.
hes american and he's not hot. but i think lectures were clear and for the most part understandble. hes an extremely nice prof, one of the best i've had so far (i'm first year). this is a pretty average course, in terms of workload....take 272 with him, should be ok
agree with below, but exams are hard! and make sure you participate in tut. cause TAs mark hard...blagh its an ok class
Fairly easy course but the class avg is crazy high, makes it hard to get a decent mark. OK prof, exams arent too bad no thinking involved just memorize the text book.
Midterm was pretty easy and the average was so high...Basically, this course is to memorize, memorize and again memorize. Then you will be fine. Final was a bit tricky tho. I donot know my grade yet. I chose the wrong tutorial and had a very bad TA. Hardly got any mark from her. Anyways,he is nice.
I don't learn anything from this class
He makes the class boring. No need to understand the material - just memorize the textbook and you'll get an "A". It seems that Chris enjoys the status associated with being a prof, but doesn't like to teach. If you have no choice - take him. Make sure you get Keith as a TA!!
The class was typical overall. I mean what do you expect from lectures anyway? hands on fun? I learned alot in this course like any other course that I try in. If you got a problem with memorization then school is not for u lol cuz thats what its all about. Take this course you'll do fine. TA Masul
He was ok....but dont expect an easy exam.....
His exams questions are vague. He is the type of profs that discourage students. This course is a waste of money, just memorize the text word by word and you'll be fine. Not practical at all.
This class is a waste of time. It is completely pointless, yet he thinks it is. It is purely memorization.
Very easy class if you show up to class and participate. Chris is very clear with what he expects, and your marks will benefit from matching what he wants. The class is pretty boring stuff - but as interesting as HR policy can be. I mean, come on, does anyone lie awake at night enthralled by a kick ass job description?
he is a very toughtful teacher. yet the lecture was kinda boring. exams (multiple choice) were super vague. i happened to get a "wrong" TA, he was subjective and somehow ****. my grade ended up really low because of the marking during tutorial. however, I heard that Chris himself as a TA was great.
Nice guy. But takes forever to say something and make his point. Most of the Exam is multiple choice but with really long questions and quite vague (as others has put it). Memorizating is the key in this course but with 7 chapters to remember for one exam, it is hard!
huM ... he likes to repeat and repeat his points. So yeah takes him a long time to come up with something! But overall his pace is pretty good, and his notes are clear. Exams are pretty tricky. Overal, pretty good Prof !
Aweful midterm and final, and group project is worth much less than it should be. Memorize everything in this vapid course.
Great prof
exams are super hard. Be sure to listen and take notes in lecture. You have to know beyond the textbook and know how to apply theories
prof was really straight to the point, but the exams are HARDDD... lots of 'none of the aboves' or 'all of the aboves' or 'only A&C is true', etc... becareful when doing MCs
Awesome prof! Wasn't really interested in course before taking it...but loved it! Group essay was awful because my group members had terrible English. Tests ok...lots of none of the aboves (making it tricky). Very interesting and well organized lectures. Approachable and very friendly. I would take any class that he was teaching just for him as
One of the best business profs i've taken at SFU. Applies textbook concepts to real life situations. Uses cases that are current and reletive. Has industry experience and knowledge. Created enthusiasm for a course that could have been dry and dull without.
Nice bloke. Explained concepts well. You have to be in a good team to get decent marks in your presentation and team paper. It seems that he thinks we have a light courseload and tends to tell the class at the last minute what he expects from presentations and team papers which annoyed me.
one word to describe him: VAGUE.
He's a good prof actually. His lecture is interesting. I don't think his exam is very hard cuz he gave us the study guide before exams. Also, he mentioned what would be the exam questions during the lecture sometimes, so pay attention to what he said.
Truly believes in outdated and irrelevant theories that no longer hold any value today. Has an attitude of a capitalist pig - let's destroy the environment, abuse the people, and make some profit. This is understandable though - it is hard to admit that your life's work is a joke.
Chris is friendly and very approachable. It can get boring sometimes attending his lectures but he only tests you on what he talks about in lectures! No need to read whole chapters! He tells you his exam formats but I find the mc to be tricky and the written to be about very specific stuff. Make sure you go to class, it'll help a lot.
I was very interested in the material, but that was before I took this class! His lectures are super boring but you have to go because he gives away exam hints. The midterm was brutal, even the T.A. admitted some of the questions were completely unfair. He seems like a nice enough person but not a very good prof. Go with another prof!!!
Attendance for this course is not mandatory, but you'd better show up and pay attention to his lecture. My English is kinda poor, but his lecture is very clear and interesting to me.The thing i like most is that it is not nessary to read the whole textbook! The only thing I dislkie is that i have to do a group project and paticipate in tortorial.
Chris is one of my favourite profs at SFU. Very clear in lectures and extremely organized. All his TAs were awesome too. midterm was hard, but final was fair. If you read the parts of the book he tells you to, you will do fine. Overall, very good prof!
Nice and helpful professor, gives a clear lecture, explains well. Recommended! Midterm and Final are fair. All unfair things happended in tutorial, can you choos a good TA?
Chris isn't a bad professor in general, his assignments however, are harder compared to other bus 272 profs. Also, at least 5-10% of the midterm and final, are based on either videos from lecture, or things he said in lecture, so it is mandatory to pay attention and attend class. And he marks really really slow 1week+ for scantron test.... --"
Bus 272 was suppose to be one of the easier courses of the lower core levels but he made the exams/marking very difficult.
Very interesting content, but don't dream to get a A on it unless you memorize all the content. Exams are not as easy as you may thought.
Take Him! He keeps course easy. Make sure to attend ALL lectures, and take notes. ENjoyed this class!!! btw, take William as a TA (Like, his marking manner)
Awesome!
He has serious composure issues when dealing with students and takes offence to being compared to his mentor.
Lectures move smoothly, tells you what part is on the midterm and final. just attend classs and copy the notes, solid class aside from the group project
He is a great prof. I enjoyed attending his class very much and his lectures were never boring. Also a plus, he based his exams only on lectures and not on readings. The readings were just supplemental.
Chris is a very capable and engaging lecturer. The M/C on exams is fair, very few trick questions. I thought the midterm short answer was a bit difficult, but final was all M/C. I liked that exams were based only on material presented in lecture. Pay attention to his stories and videos, he likes to test on them. Tutorial is a waste of time.
Chris is an amazing professor. I am even looking for an opportunity to have another class with him. His explanation are very clear and his tests are fair. Just study and you will be fine
Best Prof to take BUS 272 with, his explanations are crystal clear and gives interesting insights that make the class enjoyable. Test are extremely fair and quite easy
I wish I had bought the online OB lab.. or used the one provided online... apparently you can get a better mark easier. I found the midterms and exams challenging (multiple choice and a few short answer). He tries really hard to make a boring class less boring which I think is a sign of a good prof. Group project was a pain, but whatever.
Fun and interesting lectures. Fair marking for proj and exams.
I love Chris! Although the content is really dry, he does his best effort to make lectures really fun and engaging. He's a funny guy, makes jokes time to time - you can tell he enjoys his job and wants the best for his students. M/C on exams are difficult but questions should be no surprise. I would take another course with Chris any day.
Prof is ok but you need to be lucky to not have one useless TA. All your grades expect for the exams totally depend on your TA.
Chris Zatzick is an amazing prof, im lucky to have him and i hope to have him in my later courses. He explains it so well incoporating examples and helps students understand. *Exam tests on examples he uses in the class* Just be willing to learn and you will do great. This course is really easy to comprehend! good luck!
Amazing professor, one of the best I've had at SFU so far. His lectures are really engaging, you always want to go to class. He is always very helpful too when it comes to clarifying and helping you understand a concept. If he is available as a prof, take the class with him you won't regret it!
Very good professor ... explains everything clearly and keeps lectures interesting. Very skillful at making exam questions.
This class will be most appealing to actual OB/HR majors or students passionate in psychology, sociology, etc. Midterm and final are focused on applications of OB concepts to scenarios in a business environment, but most of this class is based on memorization and definition of concepts and terms.
one of the best prof
This class is extremely straightforward. Chris tells you exactly what he wants you to know for each exam, and is extremely clear with his expectations. Just show up to class and study the material
Chris is such an amazing prof. He engages with students, tells you exactly what will be on the final exam and is so helpful! 100% recommend this course with him
Chris was the best business prof I have had so far at Beedie and BUS 272 with him was fantastic. Although he had two hour lectures they were engaging and informative. Exam criteria was given to students and everyone knew what to expect; there were no surprises. One issue people had were the group projects, but that's expected in a business course.
He tells you exactly what will be on the test and gives interesting examples during class. He doesn't make you remember anything that was not discussed in class and this make studying for tests easier. He was the best professor I had during the semester. I would recommend taking this class with him.
Incredible prof, and an expert in his field. Relates all of his lectures and in class discussions to current events and industry trends. Great, passionate lecturer, makes a dry subject (HR) fascinating and engaging. Warning-exams are super easy, but are also curved. Class average on the first midterm was 83%.
Chris is awesome! Brings in a lot of examples and relate to the topics. Exams are easy but he literally tests everything so be prepared to pay attention in class. Lecture can get boring so times, but he throws in a few jokes here and there.
Chris is an amazing professor!! The material can be dry at times, but he's a good lecturer and makes it more interesting by linking it to real life examples and engages students in class discussions, and in-class group activities. The only bummer in this class was the group project - make sure you do adequate research for the paper - TA marks hard.
The course is a lot of understanding the concepts, and Zatzick does brief explanations of the concepts in his lectures. Only a few topics will be gone over in detail, so do read the textbook for completeness in covering the material. He is a good prof, and the course itself is not too difficult.
Amazing prof!!! If you take notes during his lectures you won't even need to use your textbook. Everything from his slides is on the exams. Saying that though, his exams are tough and there are multiple answers that look right so you have to take your time and read through the options carefully
Chris is a great prof, great lecturer, helpful. However, the grade you get largely depends on your TA because they are the ones that grade your exams and group paper. The group paper was 12 pages, marked extremely difficult, and hard to do. The midterm was fairly easy in the MC section, but since TAs mark SA section, you can do poorly.
Great prof for bus272. Super clear lecture slides. Just study his slides for midterms and the final. Very interesting lectures. Will def take his class again!
Best professor I ever had! He cares about every single student and he wants everyone to do well. He was very good at keeping the students engaged during the class. He is just purely awesome!
His lectures are mandatory. Chris likes to put random facts that he says in class and put it on the exam. For example, mentioned something very quickly about Uber and it appeared on his midterm exam. If possible, tape record his lectures that would be the fastest way to get an A.
Do not skip class because he brings up a lot of extra information that will be tested on during the exams. Exams are easy (midterm was mainly MC with 2 short answer questions, final was all MC). Great professor who is really passionate about HR and cares about his students. Start early on the group report and check the criteria often for revisions.
He is an amazing professor! The best professor I ever had! A real gem! He truly cares about the students and does whatever he can to make his students succeed. He is very patient and he wants you to get everything he says; even if that means that he has to repeat a few things he has already stated. He is extremely helpful and friendly. MCQ exams!
Take DETAILED notes. I started taking super detailed notes after I realized his midterm covered basically everything from lectures (not just the slides but what he talks about that are not on the slides). Got the highest mark in the class on the final by studying only from my notes and lecture slides. Didn't crack the textbook.
I took his bus 272 two years ago and I really enjoyed his class that's why i decided to take bus 381 with him again. His lectures can be boring sometimes but make sure you take down notes of what he says. Textbook was not required, exams were pretty much based on his lecture slides.
BEST PROF EVER! its always better to take bus 272 in Burnaby instead of surrey anyways for business classes cuz they have better profs!! HES AMAZING and he tells you exactly whats on the final and his teavhing style is just splendid.
He is a great professor, explains very well. His exams are based on what he talks about in the class. The textbook can be used for reference but you only need to focus on his lecture, he has questions which focus on the specific examples he used in the lectures, which you won't find in the book or in the lecture slides. An amazing prof for sure.
Great professor with great lectures. He cares about students and exam was relatively fair. Definitely should take for Bus 272.
Amazing lectures, Chris has an effective teaching style which engages his students. He is very approachable, understanding and caters to the needs of the class. One of the most engaging professors at SFU!
Chris is a phenomenal professor! The best so far in my undergrad. Super passionate about HR, makes the class straightforward, and takes advantage of the applicability of OB by providing real life examples! His teaching style is exceptional and impactful. Would take another course of his in a heartbeat. A+ professor.
Chris is a great prof who knows how to take real life examples for students to relate to the material. Make sure you attend the lectures because his exams are mainly based on the lectures, which wont be that hard if you listen to him. Definitely one of the best profs Ive had in SFU.
Chris genuinely cares about his students. He is understanding and flexible. Although the material was boring and a lot of it was memorization, he always connected the content to real life applications. Exams were fair, multiple choice can be tricky.
awesome prof, super understanding and caring. his lectures are chill but u do need to listen to be able to answer the midterm questions (he refers back to his quotes and stories). really enjoyed the course material
First said tb was mandatory but then said only lecture materials were testable. Q's on exams ask for the specific examples of examples used in class, so write everything down.
His lectures were pretty good and he kept most of it pretty interesting. But you do need to show up to his lectures because a lot of the questions on the exams come straight out of the lecture, not so much the textbook. Exams aren't too hard but some of the questions can be pretty tricky. Also, there was a group paper but I found it really boring.
After classes were switched midway through the semester to online learning due to COVID, there was an error in my final participation grade. My TA told me to reach out to Chris to get it fixed. Chris refused to change my grade as it would affect the curve. I was less than 0.3% away from an A-, and his laziness prevented me from getting straight A's
Refuses to change grades even when there has been a mistake. Overall Chris's class was a poor experience.
I took him in my first year when I was having academic difficulties, amazing professor, wants everyone to succeed and extremely understanding, his midterm was mainly MC and some writing, read the parts he tells you to read in the textbook and you'll be fine, final was all MCQ if I recall correctly, same difficulty as the midterm. Just memorize.
He's a great prof and gives lots of examples which really helps to understand. If you take his class, take notes on class discussions and be present in his lectures, a lot of his exam questions are based on these discussions and examples only mentioned in his lecture. I took it in person and he also offered audio recordings so it worked out.
Chris delves into detailed examples that help to illustrate key concepts in the material. He also just picks out the most important concepts from each chapter and doesn't test on anything not mentioned in class. If you revise his audio recordings, you will be fine, just make sure to study his examples and what they illustrate.
In bus 272 he was great. My only issue was him was that he asked so many questions on the exams based off class discussions and I wasnt always there or paying attention. I guess thats my fault and thats why I didnt do better. Getting an A in his class is totally doable just show up and take notes. I was lazy :(
Zatzick is a smart guy whose lectures are really engaging. Basically all of his assignments and exams are based on lecture material; textbook was practically useless.
Chris was a great professor. The class was really easy and interesting. He doesn't use textbooks and only lecture material is used for exams which were really nice. If you don't participate in lectures and take detailed notes, you're probably going to barely pass.
Chris was a really good lecturer and cares about his students. Tests were only on the lectures so don't bother getting the textbook.
Mr. Zatzick is a decent professor for Bus272, you need to actively participate in the class and pay attention to the material he discusses during the lectures to do well in the exams. His grading criteria is fairly straightforward and if you attend his lectures regularly, you should be able to do well in the course.
Chris is awesome, cares for his students, provides sufficient structure for course evals, and spends time to ensure lectures are engaging and students understand all concepts presented. There is little room for error if you're going for the A+. To score highly, attend all lectures, focus on understanding rather than memorizing concepts.
I wouldn't say his exams are tha similar to his lectures. this was one of my first bus classes and my advice is to actually understand every theory and apply them to different situations in the real world rather than trying to know what each theory is. I was hoping to do well in this class but I fell short...
Grading scheme went by 2 assignments, 1 final paper, 3 exams. More of a psychology/HR perspective on Business course. Zatzick was a nice and caring prof, would love to take another course with him, but I personally found the course content difficult to motivate myself to learn.
Lecture heavy class, would recommend going and participating, which is easy as Chris gives a very engaging and well delivered lecture.
Great prof - records lectures! Content can get dry but Chris makes it almost enjoyable. I recommend listening to his lectures 2x speed cus exam questions come from specific vids and examples. Did well on the exams but the group projects can get you screwed (had a terrible group+TA) talk to your TA about everything and get them to check ur paper.
Probably the best prof I have had so far. Knows what he is talking about and is approachable for help. Exams are heavily based on course material - I would take note of basically every time he says "for example" in lecture. there's a group project and it makes up a good percentage of your final grade. Would take this prof again for any other class!
Amazing prof. Easily top 5 at beedie. The reviews don't lie, he really knows his stuff and cares about the class. Records all lectures which is extremely useful to the final and midterm as he uses specific examples mentioned in class in them. Would take again!
The prof is great and the class was pretty engaging, and it helped that they were recorded. Make sure you take note of what he says in class especially the examples because those are tested. My only concern was the group project because it tanked my grade a little which wasn't even my fault but otherwise take it with Chris if possible.
Recommend taking the course with Chris. His lectures are great, and some exam questions are based on lecture discussions. Just hope you get a good TA, as everything is marked by them. Midterm and final were multiple choice, so make sure you memorize the concepts.
Mad respect this professor! Very engaging lectures and very approachable. He's willing to keep in touch with you long term, if you a business major that is a great way to build connections and network. Lecutures are super useful for studying for exams, he records all his lectures and tests you on examples talked about in class. Overall Awesome prof
Knowledgeable in OB topics and the exams draw quite heavily on very specific and niche scenarios - so know your terms. The TA's can be a hit or miss, as mine was frequently late and marked a little harshly. Be prepared for the group projects, as they take up a significant portion of your mark and your group will make or break your grade.
He is very approachable and knowledgeable. If you ask him a question, he will give you a comprehensive answer. To succeed in exams, pay attention to everything he says during lectures, including examples. I found his lectures to be interesting and enjoyable.
Engaging prof who records lectures - super helpful for exams. Attendance is a must. The group project can make or break your grade, so pick your team wisely. Don't forget to use unstuck study for extra study support!
2016 Kyrie Irving
He is a really good prof that explains things really well. Many questions on midterm were about things discussed in class, so it's better to attend lecture. Really well organized and gives all criteria to do well
The professor and the course are great overall. Be mindful of the TAs, as grading can be strict. I had Ethan as my TA—he's a harsh marker, and his tutorials are quite competitive. His slides and MCQ practice during tutorials were very helpful
